We took this cruise so that our seven year old grand child could go. We had a party of 6. There were our daughter and her soon to be husband, the grand son and a 55 year old friend of our daughter. Boarding was fine and orderly. Our room had my wife and I along with the grandson. The room was a balcony 8-378 with a bed and a pull out. We noted the room was warm upon arrival. We adjusted the thermostat and found it made no difference. We called guest services and nothing happened. We notified our room steward and nothing happened. We called again and they sent someone out to measure the temperature in the room. 75. No horrible, just humid and no AC. It was cooler outside the room. The guy who measured the temperature indicated he would have the AC people come look at the system. The AC tech never materialized but our room steward did give us a fan. The next day we actually went to guest services and they claimed it was 72.6 degrees the evening before. That wasn't true. The young man from Belarus showed us the meter at 75 degrees Fahrenheit. We complained again and still no one came. Fortunately the weather was not that hot and we survived with quick showers and a fan blowing on us. Upon return it was clear they had a problem. At least 30% of the doors had fans sitting outside waiting to be taken back to storage. The rest of the room was fine except there was ONE 110 v electrical plug in the entire room/bathroom. Not one outlet, one plug and that was now occupied by the fan. There was a 220V outlet in the Bathroom. I paid for the highest internet and it was a joke. I could hit my email. I could get Fox news about 30% of attempts. I could get CNN 0% of the time. I tried to log into a bridge web site. Nope. Download a book to read. Nope again. Read Less

We booked a group of about 26 to go on this cruise. The majority of us are avid Carnival customers and sail annually. The food, service, cleanliness, and attitudes of some of the staff members made this a terrible experience! Never doing Carnival again! I had made a reservation at the steakhouse but cancelled it because my granddaughter & her parents jumped on onboard last minute. The steakhouse called to confirm my cancellation, and still charged me $177.00. The communication between the staff is horrible! Every meal was subpar with steaks being too tough to eat and very overcooked! We sent food back only to be disappointed in the replacement. We tried the buffet on the Lido deck and much of it was cold when it should have been warm. The eggs for breakfast was rubberized . I have never been so disappointed in the food on a cruise. The positive things were the shows. Every single one was entertaining! The temperature of our cabin was ok while sailing but had trash from the previous occupants in the closet. Read Less

I cruise about once per year (Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean), and the Glory was my least favorite cruise. We sail with children, therefore always sail during "busy" times when school is out. The good parts were: * The staff were very friendly, although seemed overwhelmed at times. * Carnival has the best comedy clubs of any line. Other lines may have a comedy club once or twice curing the cruise. Carnival has them every night. * The Alchemy bar is great. * The Dr. Seuss brunch was great! Sign up early as they do fill up. Highly recommend. * The sea day brunch is also very nice. It included a filet choice as no additional charge. * Carnival still has breakfast room service at no additional charge. * Being able to pre-order a case of bottled water for about $5 (delivered to your room) is nice. * Being able to bring on a 12-pack of canned soda and a bottle of wine is a nice perk for those not getting a drink package. * Nice to have 24-hour pizza (that staff works really hard as there is always a line). * The Blue Iguana, BBQ and deli/grill are good, although, there were ALWAYS lines (probably because the buffet was so bad). The not-so-good points were: * The buffet was the worst that I have ever experienced between all of my cruises and AI resorts. They do not have a Mongolian wok on the Glory. The food choices are non-appealing (greasy, stale, very limited salad bar, dried out entrees, etc). The layout is confusing (toppings/accompaniments are in another section, bacon served out at one piece at a time by a stressed out staff, small chocolate bar served during lunch). There were always LONG lines. Yes, they do have the grill, Guys burgers, Iguana grill, etc, but those lines were also always LONG no matter when you went. * The pool deck/seating area was the WORST of any cruise that I have been on. They converted/took out about 1/3 of the pool deck seating for the kid's water park. Could not find a chair, even on the "secret" deck and the Serenity deck on the sea day. * Long drink lines. Most of the other cruises that I have been on will put out additional "quick-serve" drink stations (beer, soda, non-blender drinks, etc) on sea days. The Glory did not do this. If you like to lounge by the pool on sea days, this is not the ship for you (especially if you have to stay in the kids/family-allowed pool/deck area). *Carnival/Glory has apparently instituted a new debarkation luggage tag process this year. If you do not pick up your luggage tags by 5:30 PM the day before, you must carry out all of your luggage. Didn't realize this until I got back to my cabin after 5:30 and no luggage tags. WHY??? *We did have rough seas a couple of nights. I am used to the rocking and creaking, however our rooms had a loud banging/crashing sound above our ceiling (sounded like our ceiling was going to fall in). Called at midnight, but they told me that maintenance would have to come and sit in our room to confirm that there was a sound. REALLY??? You could hear the crashing/banging out in the hallway. I know a vacation is what you make of it. The less you have to try to make "lemonade out of lemons" though the better, especially when you are spending your hard-earned money and precious vacation time. Look elsewhere. Read Less

So you think a cruise sounds great. So did I. Well, here is assessment for you to make an informed decision. First, the staff is amazingly friendly. Truly nice people looking to make your trip as good as pleasant as possible. We had 5-8 ft seas and high winds most of the way to Yucatán. It really wasn’t a bad ride at all. Don’t worry about the waves unless 10ft plus. Here’s where the fun stops. The food is not bad; not great but not bad. You will need to decide whether you want a drink plan for alcohol. Buy individual or as a package for around $65/day per person. Just know that if you like beer, call brand bar drinks, and sugar drinks (pina colada, rum punch) then you’re fine. If you like wine, you’re out of luck. The best wine by the glass in red or white is Kendall Jackson. No wine drinker can drink KJ every day. Even though wine list shows a couple which seem better like a French Chardonnay, no bar has it. Only at formal dinner is it available. Oh, you can purchase bottles at restaurant mark up prices but not included in a drink plan. Activities. Movie at night is about as good as it gets. The land excursions are definitely to do even that hey are expensive. Carnival marks those up tremendously but at least they’re coordinated for you and safe. Otherwise, there’s really not much to do on the ship other than eat and drink (unless you’re newlyweds!). The Comedy Club is apparently fun too but you must get there 30-45 min early for a seat. Shopping: what do I say here... mostly junk and definitely not saving any money. The tourist traps at ports are fun but don’t expect good quality for low prices. And the duty free shops!!! They are a joke. Some prices are higher than a State Liquor store in Alabama (which by the way is higher than most states!!). For comparison: Johnny Walker Blue in Louisiana on land is $200-$230. In Alabama it’s $250. In the so-called duty free stores it was $290. Seriously? Okay, so you get idea. If you like to lay by pool and consume beer or island drinks all day for 5 days, a Carnival Cruise is for you. If you prefer a bit more atmosphere or posh settings, then trust me you will be disappointed. My overall assessment.... boring, overrated, and they charge for everything. You’d be better off booking an all inclusive resort or traveling to NYC, Paris, Napa, or Greenbo Alabama. Anywhere but a cruise. Read Less

We booked this trip as a weekend getaway for a bachelorette trip. It started off terribly. Trying to park at the New Orleans port was a complete disaster. We arrived before we were supposed to board but spent almost an hour and a half in standstill traffic.. then to be told we had to turn around and go to overflow parking and take a shuttle. We were treated unkindly and yelled at- all while just trying to figure out where to go. Once on the boat, I was very surprised at how outdated our stateroom was let alone the rest of the ship. The cabin was very small and the bathroom had not been cleaned properly. The food was TERRIBLE. The ONLY good food was the Guy’s burgers. I would give those a 5/5. Find that place and eat it for every meal. I survived on ceaser salads at dinner. Room service is a joke!! We would wait anywhere between 15-30 minutes just to get someone to answer, and then another 1-2.5 hours to get what we had ordered. We waited over 1.5 hours just for a Diet Coke. The bar service was extremely slow. We would wait nearly 30 minutes to be waited on. The bar tenders did not seem to care because most had the cheers program which has built in gratuity. We eventually figured out that we would have to pay in cash a server to come to the deck where we were sitting. Find the serenity deck and claim a chair!! There are clean bathrooms and nicer chairs on this deck. Unless you are into filthy music, bad smells, and people grinding, I would recommend the serenity deck. This boat is not kid friendly AT ALL! Our best part of the trip was getting off in Cozumel. We just explored around the port. We had excellent food at Pancho’s and loved the shops. Fat Tuesday’s was also fun. Returning to the cruise ship was dreadful. Disembarkation was a nightmare as well. Do not listed to them when they tell you that you must leave at a certain time. Have your stuff ready in your hand and on deck 3 at 7am on the dot. No one follows the rules so you can get stuck in a hallway or stairwell for hours if you do not stand on ready at 7 by the door. Good luck if your going to be on this boat. Bring lots of snacks and just try and dance out your attitude. Read Less

We have travelled on Many Cruises(25+) over the years and was quite disappointed with the Glory, very out dated and the staff had great difficulty with English, this is the only cruise I had ever been on where It was so difficult to communicate with the staff, our cabin Steward (Dana) she was a pleasure to see each day, very pleasant, cheerful and very efficient, the dining room staff were pleasant, when it was possible to communicate with them, the food in the Dining Room was a bit repetitive and quite institutional compared with our experiences with the Conquest and the Breeze, where the food and service was exceptional, the Buffett on the Glory for Lunch and Dinner was extremely limited you can see the cut backs on food costs, it is ok to be concern with food costs but at least make the items appealing to your guests, it look cheap and tasted cheap. The overall hand sanitizing policy was not enforced on the Entrances to the various food venues, on other ships the staff are quick to tell you make sure you clean your hands before entering and there are usually hand Washing and Sanitizing stations available, there was not much emphasis on this important issue of hand washing to minimize the spread of Disease, the ship clearly needed better management for their Hotel Services, We will definitely think twice before booking with Carnival and never with the Carnival Casino Players Club a huge disappointment they use the Bait and Switch, they will offer promotions and perks with their program and once you board the ship, they have no knowledge of the offers, not a good way to do business. We were very disappointed in the room we had while on board. I booked this trip in July of 2018. The room we received did not match the description of what the Carnival agent told us it would be. We spoke to customer care and they acted like it wasn't a big deal. They emailed corporate, no response back until the 7th day of the trip. The food selection on buffet was not good. Everyday you found less and less to eat that was worth eating. The housekeeping staff and Chef Chaing from Singapore were the only friendly individuals that we got to know. The cruise director was fun and awesome, but everyone else sucked. We always wait until on board to purchase shore excursions so to get a little bit more information and feedback from shore excursions staff. We got none of that just basically what you want to do? Plus the shore excursions in Amber Cove was not as they advertised it to be. Also our air conditioning in our room didn't stay cool....again a nonchalant attitude by customer care. Plus when they finally called me back about the room we got the gentleman customer service person was excuse my French an asshole. He was argumentative, kept saying we have recording of your booking....but that can't be so as I did not book it with a female agent that he kept referring too. The internet service was a waste of money. It will be a long long time before we book with Carnival again. It's all about money to them and less about customer service. The ports we great. The entertainment was good. We didn't care for the comedian Jeff Shaw as he wasn't funny Read Less

One thing that works on this ship is the a/c! We love the Punchliner comedy but it was so cold in the Ebony Cabaret you could hang meat in there, we could not bear to stay in there for the comedians. Room service was very late or non-existant! Saw our room steward, Antonio, on first day and never for the rest of the cruise. MDR menus seem to be scaled way down with fewer options. Buffet seemed to be the same things repeatedly. Embarkation and debarkation went smoothly since we are Platinum members. Cabin smelled like sewage when we came in. Although it was an "accessible" cabin, it was very crowded and inadequate storage. The beds could not be separated without blocking the mini-fridge. The ports and excursions were great however there was alot more walking than we bargained for. The piers alone are very very long! We enjoyed the Hasbro game show and the trivia games. General decor on this ship is not impressive and left us non-plussed. Read Less

Let me start by saying that it was my husband and I first experience on a cruise ship. However although it was our first we had very high expectations since we have been to exquisite hotels before and have received excellent customer service. Therefore we looked forward to being pampered the same way with the cruise. We want to commend those who have exhibited what true customer service really is employees such as Rosi,Alexsandra,Komang and Ivana. They have displayed passion and sincerity in their jobs. Regrettably to the end we had an extremely bitter experience which wiped out some of our memorable moments. Since my husband is in the hospitality industry and I am a well established person in customer service we were very disappointed with the mistreatment and humiliation we went through to the end of our trip. The least place you will expect poor customer service is Guest services however that was the case for us. After finally being attended to from a long wait in the line I kindly asked a guest service representative for tags for our luggages. She told me that they did not have and that I can check a particular place located two floors up to get them. I went up to the place as she said and waited a little while before being attended to only to get the response that they did not have any. I quietly went back to Guest services but there was a long queue so I find it was very unfair to me to rejoin the line since it could have been avoided by the guest service representative calling first to find out if the place had.The same representative was attending to a guest at the moment so I quietly stood on the side until she was finished with that person then I went over to tell her the situation. However some persons thought I cut the line and started to quarrel about it. I tried to explain that I was in the line before and at the same time I thought she will also explain to them I was there before but instead she agreed with the other guests and told me I need to join the line again and they do not have anymore tags. Now anybody will totally agree that this was horrible customer service and the guest was extremely embarrassed. My husband who was not with me at the time was very upset when I told him and went back to tell her Manager/supervisor who offered to give us a free drink which he bluntly refused. Can anything compensate for that painful experience? However the same Manager/ supervisor was able to get tags for our luggages after the representative said there wasn't anymore. We also had a similar experience with that same guest service representative prior to this incident. We took the WiFi plan however since it was not working we went back to her and made a complaint. She just told us that sometimes its like that but when we really find it was ridiculous that we paid for a plan and we were unable to use it we went back to Guest services. This time the customer service representative was another person and she gladly reimbursed us. This left us wondering why that former representative didn't do that in the first place when we complained about it. Another bad experience was in the Platinum restaurant. We waited a very long long time before being served and what made our experience even worst was the server made a rude comment when we said certain things based on our observations. When guests make constructive criticism and especially in a polite manner we know that the employee will apologise and try to make the experience better going forward. However his demeanor was quite the contrary and we felt that this matter could have handled better. Additionally we felt certain items and excursions were overly priced and need to be revised by the cruise line. As a result of these unfortunate happenings we will most likely not be returning to Carnival cruise lines in the near future although we deeply wanted to be loyal customers. As it stands for now we will bypass them and try other options. Read Less

We live near the port of Miam, and we decided to do a family cruise so price was important. The ship is old and looks it. It’s not taken care of. We saw ants in the buffet dining room our cabin smelled like sewage the first day. We asked the steward to see why he could do about it, it seemed like he just cleaned it because by the middle of the trip it smelled like sewage again. The cruise director Dustin was fantastic really energetic and entertaining. The pizza is delicious!! The food in the buffet and dining room is sub par, has no flavor, the eggs were always over cooked. The avocado was way too ripe and the fruit was wilted. The Dr Suess breakfast was really nice for the kids. I ordered the steak and eggs, the sauce was solid instead of liquid we it was brought to our table. On Tuesday morning we did sit down in the dining room for breakfast instead of doing the buffet and we were there for almost 2 hours. We waited for 30 minutes before we were approached to have coffee ordered. The tables around us were not cleared. People who were seated after us had their orders taken before us and had their food before we were served coffee. Something was going on because what looked like 2 managers showed up and finally we had our orders taken but it still took an inordinate amount of time to get our food. We traveled with kids and they’d enjoyed Camp Ocean. It looked clean and the staff was great. The Grand Turk port and Amber Cove port don’t look authentic, it’s basically created to look like an extension of the ships shops, very disappointed. We have done Disney and Royal Caribbean cruises in the past and those far better experiences. I would not do a Carnival Cruise again. Read Less

Carnival Glory Cruise Director and Entertainment were terrible!!!! Have been on several cruises - this was a big disappointment. Cruise acted like a Mama’s Constantine referring to his Mother pretending to receive calls from her while on stage. Not funny!!! Drove it into ground. The entertainers were great dancers but terrible singers. At our evening dinner table we all agreed that this was the worst entertainment we had experienced on any of our cruises. The disembarking process was a total disaster - changed the rules constantly. No one knew what was going on or where you were suppose to be. Food was very good. Servers were great being very polite. Our room was very nice and well maintained. Enjoyed the ports. If Cruise Director and entertainiers were replaced this would have been a great cruise. Could only tolerate so much of the Cruise Durectirs Mama’s bit routine and the terrible singing of the entertainers. It was like they were hollering instead of singing. Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was a gift and 10 family members were going. My sister and I were in Cabin 8453 - in the back. We liked the interior cabin because it was quiet, well away from foot traffic. Our cabin steward was extremely nice and polite. The cabin air conditioner was always on the highest setting and the room never seemed to cool down, especially after opening the front door. I have been on Carnival cruises in the past (and older ships, too) and the food on this ship was not to the standards set before - a disappointment. Dinning service was lacking, very slow. We had 6 pm seating and the last table to be served. As a result, most of the time, we were the last to leave - sometimes chased out! Embarkation was fast and easy. Activities were lacking. For me, good activities were scheduled while in port; then the unusual stuff while at sea - no surprises. Interesting activities were scheduled during dinning time. Entertainment was lacking, too. At least two nights, there was nothing scheduled in the theater - bingo was scheduled. I personally did not take a massage, but I was told by two people that it sounded like people were playing basketball above, lot of balls bouncing and jumping/running feet. On-board experience was the usual. Public restrooms were hard to find (not marked well); however, clean. The sea ray shore excursion was wonderful and would do again. Amber Cove had free zip lining and the large pool was roomy enough for lots of people. As for value of money, this was a gift, but I will not be on the Glory again. I will give Carnival one more try, but on a newer ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our honeymoon. We paid for the faster to the fun and the cheers drink package. I had cruised on the conquest before and had a great time. This time we had poor service from bar tenders on the lido deck as well as from servers in the piano lounge. The faster to the fun was not worth it. They said we would get to our rooms faster and our luggage as well. We werent able to get to our room until everyone else did and we received our luggage after other people who did not pay for faster to the fun. We also werent able to debark earlier and then got some attitude from cruise director Dustin. The food selection was a lot less than when i went on the conquest and the food was often cold as well. Also what poor planning to put the serenity adults only lounge next to the outdoor childrens play area. Its not very serene having to hear a bunch of screaming kids. This was a girls cruise. I’ve been on Freedom and Liberty so I’m familiar with the conquest class ship. This cruise made me realize that Carnival is no longer for me. Personally I feel Carnival needs to evolve on all levels especially entertainment. I’ve since cancelled Breeze . Embarking was easy where as disembarkment was terrible, Carnival blamed imagination but it wasn’t , it was Carnival. Service as always was good, these people are such hard workers and alway pleasant. Entertainment was very low level compared to other lines and simply boring. Activities outside of trivia were very limited and the same old same old. Ship it self is a typical old school Carnival ship with neon everywhere...it’s to be expected on the older ships. Lido food was average , Guys not as good as remembered, all and all food was average and what we expected. We did do the Emerald steakhouse and it wasn’t anything too special, wouldn’t wast my money again. Most parts of the ship constantly smelled of sewer , this isn’t the first time we have had this problem on Carnival . Ports were good as well as the two excursions we booked via Carnival. Ports were Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk. In St Thomas we took a tour of St John As mentioned above, I would cruise with Carnival again. This was my sixth Carnival cruise and I kind of felt this way on my last but I now know I’m moving on. Read Less

We chose this for a family vacation, and unfortunately did not have a good experience. When we arrived our cabin that was "ready" had a pile of dirty sheets on the sofa, the sheets on the bed were stained, and the crib we arranged to be in the cabin was collapsed on the side of the wall. We needed to call housekeeping twice for new sheets for the bed, and a sheet for the crib. My husband ended up setting the crib up himself. I felt as if the ship was short staffed, as any bar you would go to would take at least 5-10 minutes to order a drink/soda. The dining experience was also poor, one evening my husband ordered a beer, we had to ask the server for it twice, we finally saw them bring it to the side counter where it sat for 10 minutes. No sign of our server so i eventually just went up and grabbed it for him. Also, we did travel with our 1 year old son. Lesson learned, Carnival Cruise does not have accommodations for a little one of his age. No changing stations in the public/community restrooms on the ship. Before our room was ready I needed to change my son's diaper, and ended up doing so on the bathroom sink/counter. The family play time in the kids room was very limited, and he wasn't allowed in the pools/or put his feet in the water as he wasn't potty trained. So there was nothing for him to do on the ship. I called the Carnival customer service once we arrived back at home, because we felt so disappointed with our experience. Again another lesson learned, notify guest service when you are actually on the ship if you are experiencing issues. There was nothing they could do, and I felt as if they just shoved us under a rug. They offered a $100 voucher for my husband and I to use for a future cruise. Which we have no plans on doing so again with Carnival. A waste of a couple thousand dollars. Read Less

We are one cruise away from being Platinum Members on Carnival, plus we've sailed on NCL, Royal Caribbean, and Disney, so we're pretty versed in cruising. The embarkation and debarkation process was easy, fast and appreciated. We sailed for a New Year's Eve cruise with some family friends (which was the best part of the cruise). The onboard shows were very good. The onboard trivia coordinator (I think his name was Lars or Lark) was really fun. That's about it for the good parts. We were VERY disappointed by the fact our room steward only came to the room in the morning (and did turn down service at the same time). This was really an issue when we went on an excursion and needed to shower when we returned (towels were used for our morning showers) and we had to call room service, who waited for a tip. Getting in touch with our room steward was next to impossible. I don't know if they were short-handed or cutting back, but this was not acceptable, or appreciated. We enjoy going to the casino while sailing, but the smoke was over whelming and we couldn't stay in the room for longer than about 5 minutes. They really need to fix the exhaust system to get the smoke out of there, or even better - have no smoking inside the ship at all. I smelled people smoking inside their cabins as well and the staff acted like they didn't smell it.... right. We bought wine onboard and had it in our room. Not once did the room steward bring an ice bucket, or ask if we wanted one. The dining staff and the food were also way below standards. The dining staff, other than asking what we wanted off the menu, didn't talk to us the entire cruise - until the last night when they were looking for their tips - surprise - you would think they were our best friends. The New Years Eve event onboard was fun too, the Cruise Director did a pretty good job getting this organized. The band for the event was kind of lame - it seemed like the theme of the cruise was 70's blues/jazz, and the music wasn't upbeat (or good) like the majority of Carnival Cruises. The best part of the cruise (other than seeing our friends) were the excursion. We decided to try something different. We did the Private Island with snorkeling in Honduras, we did the air boat trip in Belize, and we did the sail boat (actually onboard the Stars and Strips) team challenge in Cozumel. Being a little on the older side (and a large guy), I wasn't sure how this would go, turned out to be a blast. The cruise - not so good, the excursion, pretty good. Having to fly to Miami from Jacksonville was a nightmare in itself - American Airlines just crams their seats closer and closer together, and they pulled one of those gate changes at the last minute to see if we could sprint from one side of the airport to the other - they were holding the plane for us to get there. What a disaster. Read Less

The Glory is an old ship. The staterooms and public areas are dated and in desperate need of remodeling. Our cabin number was 8384. Dated, and noisy at nights because the Lido deck with pools and restaurants is just above. The ship’s layout is certainly awkward, and sometimes you feel as if you are on a labyrinth when moving around. The food quality and variety are certainly average. On the first two nights of our cruise the main dinning room service was substandard. The wait lines were up to 45 minutes to 1 hour. The waiters service was rude, lacking the most elemental table manners. They acted as if they were stressed-out and couldn’t care less for guest satisfaction. This situation improved after the 3rd night. Maybe they added more staff. They apologized by sending a few chocolates to our room. We had a terrible experience when my wife became seriously ill due to food poisoning at the Lido deck buffet. On December 30 and 31 she only had food at the ship because we were at sea. She became ill from diarrhea and vomiting starting on New Year’s Eve and continued through the New Year. The food poisoning resulted in a gastric disorder which caused chest pain and she had to be taken to the medical facility. They charged a $255 medical bill and refused to assume any responsibility or to waive the charge. Not even an apology was given. Certainly, Carnival could be one of the largest cruise companies, but their attention to customers has decreased to unacceptable levels. CARNIVAL… NEVER AGAIN!!! Read Less

We were a group of 8. 4 adults and 4 children ages 11 8 4 and 2. This was my 2nd time on Carnival and the first time for all others. I felt like this cruise was extremely crowded. There was no space to walk around the ship without worrying about losing a kid or getting separated from your group. Crowds every where. Deck chairs on sea days were never to be found and Chair hogs were out in full force. The food was very good but the choices were just not interesting. The wait staff worked very hard to make everything nice until Friday night when they never cleared away dirty dishes, handed us the next course even if we were still eating the previous one, and if there was no room on the table they just put the plate in our hands! We waited through half of the meal for a high chair which made dinner very hard with a 2 year old! Coffee was nonexistent that night. Room steward was very nice and did a very nice job. Cleaned the room 2 times per day without ever asking. 11 and 8 year old had fun at the kids club but 2 and 4 year old had anxiety of being left alone. We asked if one of us could just stay there with them for a while and we were asked to leave after 5 min. They said other parents would want to stay too. Lame excuse . Shore excursions were with the ship and all were good. I have been on Royal Caribbean and Princess before Carnival and s short comparison to royal Serenade of the Seas: GLORY 110,000 TONS SERENADE 90,090 GLORY 952 FT SERENADE 965 FT GLORY 2980 GUESTS 1150 CREW SERENADE 2490 GUESTS 891 CREW TOTALS GLORY 4130 PEOPLE SERENADE 3381 PEOPLE. Overall the ships are approximately the same size and Royal does a much better job of dispersing the crowds so it doesn't feel crowded! I did a new years eve cruise on serenade a few years ago and never felt like I did on this cruise! Way too many people on a smaller ship. I didn't feel like I would be safe if there were an emergency and we needed to get off quick. This will be my last CARNIVAL cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the cost - hoping to get good value for the money. What we got was a "cheap" cruise in pretty much every sense of the word. First of all, the positives - embarkation was smooth and efficient. Our bags were at our stateroom by 1:30pm. One of the onboard bands was incredible. They played 50's - 80's rock, and were among the most talented musicians we've seen. The key lime pie and Guy's hamburgers were the best we've had at sea. The waterslides were enjoyable. We appreciated that there was no additional charge for the adults-only Serenity area. Some cruise lines charge extra for this. Now the negatives - Other than the band mentioned, entertainment was pathetic. The individual artists in various spots on the ship were amateurish. For us, the nightly shows in the main theater were un-watchable. They had the same (8, I think) people performing every night, and the costuming, musical selections and choreography were lewd and vulgar. We walked out during the "welcome aboard" show. A few days later we poked our heads in during another show and left within 2 minutes. The Hasbro show was crude, with the cruise director selecting participants with the most vulgar "moves," or those who ripped their shirts or other clothing off. This was supposed to be a "family" show. Similar comments apply to the lip sync contest, the "Clue - Whodunnit" show, etc. We couldn't walk by the piano bar without being offended and embarrassed. This is a crude, vulgar ship environment. Now, the food. For the most part, it was pretty mediocre, although the key lime pie and Guy's Burgers were the best we've had at sea. But it was the "closures" that surprised us. The main buffet closed at 3pm? What's that about? There were several periods of time (we're not talking "middle of the night") that the only food available were - ice cream and burnt, crusty pizza. A similar, irregular schedule applied to the pools and hot tubs. We were asked to leave a hot tub at 11pm one night, as it was closing. We asked where else we could go, and they said everything was closing. I could understand closing because of bad weather. This was a calm evening - they closed for a raucous deck party, even though the hot tube we were using were far from that party. They handled tender boarding in Belize quite poorly. We waited on the tender for over 30 minutes before they let us head off for Belize. We nearly missed our tour. We frequently had to remind our "first-time cruising" friends (with whom we traveled) that this was the first time we had cruised Carnival, so that they would realize we had recommended this cruise in ignorance. I went on a cruise with my best friend November 11-18 on Carnival Cruise ship "Glory". I hadn't been on a cruise in 20 years so I thought I would give it a try again. I can now say I will never go on another cruise ever again. It is simply because I have been on all-inclusive land vacations at least 6 times to various locations in Mexico and Jamaica and those vacations are far superior to the cruise I experienced. Besides the cruise itself, I paid for a $400 drink package because every drink with the exception of tap water or iced tea and coffee are $4 plus. But even with the drink package I ended up with another bill for $290 which included the dollar tips, the two games of bingo, one room service and $90 in gratuity fees and one upgraded dinner. I chose not to go on any excursions as they were very expensive and I have done those excursions before. The food was not very good, definitely not high quality. The upgraded meal which was excellent but heard from other cruise goers that the upgraded meal would have been a typical meal on a more expensive cruise so I guess you get what you pay for even though the cruise was $950 each. Entertainment was limited. Getting off the ship at the ports was like a cattle call. My friend got bronchitis and was sick enough to see the ship doctor so her medical bill was $500 for 4 nebulizer treatments, two scripts and an x-ray. One little seminar after a bingo game featured a promotional speaker pushing the purchase of a "Fun Finds" coupon book with "$2000 worth of coupons" for $25. Unfortunately I fell for it. The coupons were mostly for other ports that we were not traveling to and expired at the end of the month, a complete waste of money and just added to the feeling of being ripped off. On an all-inclusive land vacation, all drinks are included, activities are well planned and not for an extra cost, the rooms are large and luxurious and there are no long lines, plenty of restaurant choices and all the beach you can ask for. Maybe other ships do a better job but I won't wait to find out. My next vacation will be an all inclusive lad vacation, no more cruises for me. Read Less

Booked this cruise for a family vacation while celebrating a birthday, from cruising in the past this is by far the worst we have been on. Carnival says that it is updated when it is clearly not, rust all over rooms and old beds and sheets. Service was the worst part about the ship, the stewards don't even change the sheets we had old blood stains that were not even ours!! soap was never changed, washrooms were never even touched at all. They automatically charge your tip at the end of the trip which explains why the service was so bad...little do they know , you can go and withdraw from that easily. Attitude was bad from bartenders, because we bought cheers, they make u wait 5 minutes for additional drinks, they don't want you to wait at the bar they yell at you. I was also given an unpleasant attitude when I ordered a budlight for someone and then right after I ordered a corona for my self. the bartender was upset that I didn’t order two budlights he didn’t want to give me the corona, which I had to argue for. Another issue we had was ordering coffee at the creams bar, from having cheers, coffee is included but they treat it as alcohol which is ridiculous. we were told we cant order two coffees we have to wait 5 minutes or go a the back of the line and order again, after waiting 10 minutes for the first one. they do this with alcohol but for coffee this is by far the most upsetting, after paying all that money for cheers the least they can do is give us the two coffees we ordered, the only way your getting the second coffee is if you charge that one to the room then they have no problem making you the coffee. The only positive part of the cruise was the entertainment during the day and at night. Dustin the cruise director saved our trip, he was amazing and kept us laughing and entertained, the comedy shows were funny which also helped. Overall, this cruise needs updating, not what i expected for the money paid. Read Less

This cruise was sold through a travel agent - we expected this cruise to be exotic dressy and fun after reading the dress code review - we expected it to be cosmopolitan - we had high standards of the cruise ship and decor -! We were so disappointed the first time cruising and it has put me off - there was o dress code - it was a tired ship - it stunk of tobacco in the casino and a bar area where unfortunately people were allowed to smoke - i think there should have bee a small designated area - we did not go in the casino because of this- there seemed to be no dress code people were scruffy and even on elegant night some made the effort some did not - there was a guy at the bar with no shirt - he should have been told and not served-baseball caps - caps in general and hats worn within the ship and at the dinner table even in platinum dining - trainers worn in to the dining room - very skimpy wear people in same clothes from day in evening - very casual cruise - i wasted money buying clothes for this ship - carnival is what is it - anything goes - tacky hairy chest competition which i would have expected at a holiday camp - but that some the cruise up it was a glorified holiday camp with no expectations - the deck area loud with huge television screen blasting out and the pools to small to do anything other than cool off - thank heavens for the over 21 area which actually was a god send - there was maintenance going on evidently with the amount of workmen that kept appearing and walking past. The lobby bar was like a cheap night club - there needed to be more bar staff - the platinum dining was the only decent place to eat the rest of the eating areas were like a glorified school dining area and if there hadn't been platinum dining i would have got off i think - there was nothing to make you feel nice about yourself - there needs to be dress code - it was very American not geared up for other travellers at all Read Less

I have traveled on many different cruise lines and only picked this cruise because of the ports of call and it fitting in with our schedule. I knew when I booked it not to expect very much. I only saw this as a means of transportation between the islands, not a relaxing cruise ship itself. The food was horrible. I am not expecting gourmet at the buffet line but it was boring and routine. I mainly ate salads. The best was the sushi bar which you have to pay extra for but the portions were generous. The stage shows were so so. We went every night because we are not gamblers and there was very much else to do. Comedy shows were good but packed with no where to sit most nights. The cruise director did a good job keeping everybody entertained. The man has more energy than I have ever seen. My major complaint was with the final morning. It has been a few years since we have cruised last and now they allow you to leave the ship with your luggage in tow. What a fiasco! The process would go so much smoother if they made everyone use their service the night before for bags so that when people leave they only have carry on size luggage. You possibly expect that many people to come down 1 bank of elevators with large luggage and no place to go without tempers flaring between customers. Some people literally couldn't even get off the elevators because there was no room to stand. This jammed up all the elevators. They need to rethink this plan of disembarking. Overall it was what I was expecting which was very little considering it was a Carnival ship. Going back to Celebrity or NCL next time. Read Less

Carnival had a cheaper cruise to the ports than Royal Caribbean this time. I was very disappointed in the food. We spent most of our time eating at Guy's Burger Joint. We had a balcony and the windows and doors was so filthy that it was hard to see out of them. Purell sanitation stands were up against the walls, so we rarely saw anyone washing hands. Hard to find staff in the Lido restaurant to even bring you extra tea, or lemonade. Passengers picking up food with bare hands. Ice cream leaking from machine and stayed on floor for a while, and passengers walking in sticky spilled cream. Our cabin was on the 6the floor live entertainment was in the Colors Lobby on the 3rd fl. until 2am in the morning this loud music is fine for the younger generation, but not so fine for Senior Citizens . We will be going back to Royal Caribbean. Read Less

We chose this cruise on a suggestion from Carnival representative. We just wanted to get away and enjoy ourselves for a week. Dining selection in the main dining room was not even worth attending. We ate at Guys Burger joint quite a few times as the selection at the buffet's did not look appealing. Half the time Guy's Burger's did not get our order correct. But a burger's a burger so we made do. Service in the main dining room the 3 times we did attend between breakfast and dinner were just not up to par from prior cruises we were on. Food was not hot, staff did not even bother to use your name or barely acknowledge you. We had to take a tender boat to Grand Cayman and I will never go on another cruise where I need to take a tender boat. The boat was very rocky and I thought for sure I was going to lose my breakfast. We stood in line in Grand Cayman an hour - hour and a half. I can't imagine how long the people who were behind us waited as the line just kept getting longer. We did not have time to view Grand Cayman as we did an excursion and did not want to miss our ship embarkation. Read Less
