I paid 17k for the two bedroom family suite and received the most horrible service I have ever received on a cruise ship. We are frequent cruisers (over 120 days at sea) but this was our first and only Royal Caribbean. Embarkation went smoothly. It was nice to be met and checked in by someone with an Ipad but i am not fond of having to wait till my room is ready to get my cabin key. This limits your initial access to suite guest only sections (your key is what opens the door) and makes taking advantage of your beverage package difficult. The 2 bedroom family suite is nothing fantastic or over the top. Basically two standard cabins made into one. Nice to have the whole family in one suite but def no luxury for the price. PRETTY BASIC One of the two bathrooms had a bathtub but the other was super tiny (like one in a lower lever cabin where shower doesn't even have a pan you stand on the actual tile floor of the bathroom) The balcony was very spacious and added a good spot for older children to hide from the younger ones. Room service had a nice assortment. Was especially nice to be able to order a whole pizza. Normally stateroom staff go out of their way to help make you comfortable and happy. This particular staff didn't seem to care one way or the other. The didn't even learn our names. Normally by day 2 the cabin steward is greeting you by name or at least remembers you special needs. When you have 8 family members in a suite 6 towels aren’t going to get it! We had to BEG BEG BEG daily for sufficient towels. One of our children become ill and when we called at 9:30 pm and asked for new linens we were RUDELY told by the lady on duty that she was alone and that it was going to be awhile we would just have to wait. There was a special section at the pool reserved for suite guests. This area had nicer chairs with comfy cushions. There was not a waiter assigned to the suite section. If we needed a drink we had to walk to the bar and wait. Our 22 month old was WALKING BACK AND FORTH in the ankle deep water at the pool (there was no kiddie pool) and we were asked to remove her from the pool because she wasn’t “toilet trained”. Keep in mind there was a group of 4 grown men in the pool drinking beer that HAD NOT GOTTEN OUT FOR OVER TWO HOURS, ONE HAS TO WONDER WHERE WERE THEY URINATING. For Royal Caribbean to feature the only two bedroom “family” suite, they ARE NOT FOND OF CHILDREN. I paid 2k for a 22 month old to be in the ship and she wasn’t welcome in the pool and if we wanted child care for any reason there was an extra charge. If they know they don’t have any services for a toddler why charge full ticket price. The one night we did use child care the workers seemed nice. They were very high pressure about scheduling child care ahead of time. It was difficult for us to know when we might need child care so after day 1 we just kept her with us. Our 6 year old was super excited to go to child care the first night (she loves being with other kids) but after being there one time she didn't want to go back. She said it was boring. We purchased the excursion to Atlantis but ended up passing up the bus ride and hired a taxi. It was just taking way to long to get everyone organized. Once we were issued bracelets for the water park we left the group. CocoCay was the highlight of the trip. We purchased a large cabana at Chill Island. The service on the island was impeccable. I truly wish we could return to this island without taking another RC cruise. I could go on and on but to sum it up DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR VALUABLE FAMILY TIME ON RC. I don't believe the price structure they use is proportional to the service they offer. I hope they spend my 17k well because it is the last they will ever see from this family of avid cruisers. This was my first cruise with Royal Caribbean, I was looking forward to a fun, relaxing time. My girlfriend is legally blind, she has low vision, so we always contact the cruise line ahead of time to make sure she is comfortable enough with the ship and the itinerary, as we have done with the three previous cruises we have been on with other cruise lines. None of what Royal Caribbean said ended up happening, this includes large print menus and cruise compasses. I realize that this really doesn’t affect most people, but for people with disabilities, especially a visual disability, rely on feeling safe on a ship to be able to enjoy themselves. Now on to the ship itself. CABIN: The cabin was your standard ship cabin, although, it was the smallest balcony we have had. The cabin itself was worn looking. There were stains on the couch cushions, and throughout the carpet. For some reason, all of the wood, desk, cabinets, etc. were really sticky. We had to wipe everything down before feeling comfortable in there. FOOD: the food was wildly inconsistent, and was ok at best. We did not eat at the buffet at all. The food in the dining rooms lacked flavor and any sort of creativity. The pizza at the promenade cafe was pretty good. We ate breakfast in the dining room every day. One thing that bothered me about breakfast service is, they had a buffet set up in the middle of the dining room. The was strange to me, if I wanted a buffet, I would’ve went to the buffet. It felt like they were trying to get away from serving the guests. The worst part of breakfast was that they couldn’t even make fresh toast, it was just sitting in a basket, and was rock hard. SHOWS AND ENTERTAINMENT: we didn’t see the ice show or the stage production. Our biggest issue here was the fact that they kept changing the schedule for shows and events. We saw the comedian at the welcome show on the first night, he was funny, so we were looking forward to the other comedy shows. This ship has the new Royal Caribbean app, which has the full schedule for the entire cruise available. The schedule for the comedy show kept changing, in the end, the only other comedy show was on the last night at midnight, had to be off the ship early the next morning, great job. We also love playing trivia while on the ship. The entertainment staff couldn’t even do this right. One time, a crew member came down to play the completely wrong game, and told us we were wrong, a moment later, the lady came over to host our game and had to tell the other guy he was in the wrong place. Another time, actually later on the same night, we went for trivia, and the host actually played the trivia game from the night before, wouldn’t listen to us when we tried to tell him. PORTS: We did not get off the ship at Nassau, this was our third time there. At the new Coco Cay, we rented a bungalow on south beach. We were told the shuttle will bring you right to the bungalow area, no, got dropped off about a half mile down the beach through deep, soft sand. There were plenty of servers around to take drink orders, they just didn’t walk around much at all, not one server walked near our bungalow all day. The island is beautiful though. OVERALL SHIP CLEANLINESS: the refurbishments on this ship are beautiful, but was still probably the dirtiest ship we have been on. Banisters were dirty, carpets were dirty. We never saw anybody cleaning, which is uncommon for a cruise. We saw staff riding the elevator, just not wiping anything down. This was our fourth cruise in the last three years, and this was the first time we did not enjoy ourselves at all. My girlfriend actually felt scared going around this ship. Read Less

We went to celebrate my daughter's graduation from college., we were very disappointed with Royal Caribbean we probably will not sail again, we were promised an upgrade that never happened, stuck in a little tiny room, a late meal time that we didn't choose, entertainment was non-existen, the Promenade deck was like a flea market with Carnival barkers, everything seem to have an extra charge to it, our cabin Stewart Harold was fantastic and Johnny on the spot with everything we needed, but the rest of the staff acted like we were an intrusion, Coco Cay was a complete disappointment make sure you bring your wallet if you want to do anything other than sit in the sand, the drinks were way over priced, and the staff was rude, the food on board was mediocre and that's being kind however our wait staff was great, this was our first and last time sailing with Royal Caribbean we Cruise quite a bit then I suggest you spend your money elsewhere. the worst company to deal with. They don't deliver what was promised when the reservation was made, you step on the ship, look at your cabin, and feel very disappointed. so, you walk to the customer service to find a loooooooong line of disappointed customers, stand there for a couple of hours and never get anything resolved. Then you on board for few days continue with measurable experience. I would not recommend Royal for travelers, why would you want to pay your money and spend your vacation time with this company if there are others that offer better experience? They promise staff for kids, for instance the virtual reality trampoline. My kids were so excited to experience it, guess what: it was NOT OPEN the all time we were there. Kids were disappointed. There were no shows for kids, NONE. They have 2 ice cream machines, one of them was broken, and always line to get ice cream, that was served melty. They had one slide for kids, and line always was long to get on it. The all trip was a complete disappointment to all of us. They advertise the new renovations they've done to the ship, I wonder what was it before? OH, ONE MORE THING THE FITNESS CENTER DIDN'T OPEN TILL 9 OCLOCK!!!!!!! SO STUPID, REALLY. MY ADVISE GO WITH NORWEGIAN, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Read Less

We booked this cruise with extended family. First stop was CocoaCay. All the on ship advertising and email that we received mislead us to believe that the water park and resort style pool was open. The staff on the ship agreed with me that our kids will have a wonderful time on the waterslides at CocoaCay. When we got there, it is still under construction. Really disappointed the kids. We booked two rooms (ocean view with balcony) they were okay, but have a stale, musty smell. Bathroom really need to be updated. Shower had cracks, etc. They clearly spent the lion's share of their renovation money on the common areas of the boat not in the cabins. Service was good, there were a few really attentive servers at dinner. However, the food at dinner was subpar. First night three of the four adults ordered Prime Rib and had to send it back as it was to tough to eat. Worst vacation ever...you should look at other cruise lines before booking on this one. This cruise was chosen because of all of the items on the ship for us to do with our kids. By the 3rd day, I woke up with three bites on my neck. The 4th day, I had numerous more. I went to their medical floor and expressed my fears that there may be bed bugs in my room. They reassured me they did not look like bed bug bites. I asked what it could be and he expressed they looked like German measles. I explained I'm vaccinated and have had my titers so this wasn't possible. I asked what I should do now? He handed me 2 Hydrocortisone packets and told me to continue my night. I was appalled! I'm a nurse and sending someone they think could have a very contagious disease to the rest of the public should be forbidden! I'm sure it's because they knew it was bed bug bites. They said they were sure they weren't bed bug bites but would have someone come check the room. Nobody came to my room. I called guest services and they sent someone up to tell me they would do a thorough check when we went for dinner. We got back from dinner to see the beds were remade and there was a white powder placed behind the bed. I had to call guest services to see what they found. The lady said the search was completely negative. I asked what the white powder was and she said she was sending the supervisor up. When he got there, he explained the white powder was protocol but the search came up 100% negative. He said there was even a bug specialist in our room and said no traces of bed bugs were found. I took these pictures after their thorough search of my room. Disgusting!!! Bugs in the mattress!!!! That was our last night there. After calling Royal Caribbean the day after we got back, they asked for me to submit the pictures. After reviewing the pictures, they apologized for this occurring on their ship and offered me a 10% discount on a future cruise purchase. I can't even explain the nightmare this has caused. All of our luggage is in garbage bags outside our house to prevent any chance of bringing them inside our home. This cruise turned into a nightmare. -Our dining was exceptional. There was a great variety of food choices. Our server was fabulous. -This cruise had 2 Bahamas stops, Nassau and CoCo Cay. Both were great. -We let our 2 boys choose our shore excursions. The first was the Rainbow Reef snorkel in Nassau. It was our boys (age 8 and 10) first time snorkeling. The staff were great and we loved it -In CoCo Cay, they chose two excursions, swimming with the pigs and the stingray experience. The staff made them memorable and we suggest both of them. -Upon docking, our last shore excursion was The Everglades by airboat. We loved it! -We had a fabulous view from our balcony. We had a balcony on the back of the ship with magnificent views -In all of our travels, we have never experienced bed bugs before. I don't wish it upon anyone. The way Royal Caribbean lied and pretended to search our room is unacceptable. Read Less

Our aunt planned a family birthday getaway that comprised of about 15 people and 7 cabins. Leading up to the trip the application and booking was seamless. However, the vacation was everything but seamless. I guess that because they had my money already. This was our first time sailing Royal Caribbean, but we cruise often on other cruise lines. Let me say Royal Caribbean spared no expenses when it comes to decor, features, and amenities. Please be advised though all of the features such as the escape room and wave runner are an extra charge. The boat also offers about 3 restaurants that are an extra charge. The food was absolutely terrible as well as the service and entertainment. The ship was supposed to stop in coco cay, but that didn't happen due to supposedly choppy waves so the ship couldn't tender people to the private island, which is currently under construct. When we went to customer service to Express our dissatisfaction they advised us to contact their customer sevice department, so for a 2 day cruise we were forced to have a sea day. About at 8 PM of the now sea day I'm still on my balcony wondering why the boat is so rocky and it seem like we were racing through the ocean. About 20 minutes later the captain comes over the pa and announces that we have to go back to Miami for an emergency stop to let someone off. Due to the speed and turbulence of the boat I became extremely sick. So much for a 2 day cruise, which I was in Miami for everyday single day of it.. The staff tried to accommodate guest with weak entertainment and extra activities, however that wasn't worth the money. For a first experience on Royal Caribbean I was truly dissatisfied. Upon returning home I called customer service as advise to Express my concerns for the vacation. I was hung up on 3 times by customer service representatives. The 3rd time I wouldn't even Express my issues and asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor was unhelpful and had terrible customer service skills. It was very frustrating for the boat staff to advise us to contact customer care then customer care give us the run around saying we should have addressed our concerns on the boat. No one took accountability! Needless to say I wouldn't advise Royal Caribbean. Read Less

We are avid Disney Cruisers but thought a 2-night cruise would be great for my husband and I; it was not! After stepping foot on the ship, we noticed right away the smell of old smoke from the Casino area. If that wasn't bad enough, the fragrance they tried to mask it with make us nauseous. Deck 5 where ALL the shops and bars are was so hard to walk around, in the jewelry store, the associate followed us around like they do in furniture stores! We found that most of the crew members were not friendly or helpful. The waitstaff at the main dining room got upset that we didn't take their suggested choices at dinner time. Every where we went the first day, people were all trying to sell us something, drink package, internet package, specialty dining, etc. Our room was on Deck 9 and when we would turn to walk to our room all we could smell was sewage coming from the rooms. Our room had a musty smell to it as well. On Saturday night, we had to make a run back to Miami for a sick passenger to get off and all my husband and I wanted to do was get off with them! We wanted to take a family vacation with an option for character breakfasts and activities that cater to our three year old. I was really looking forward to three days of not thinking about activities and entertaining, while enjoying my family. We booked the Mariner of the Seas over a year ago after confirming with THREE RC agents that there will be Dreamworks characters on the ship, along with breakfast, parade, etc. After all, their website advertised the dreamworks experience with no indication that this may change. After we payed our deposit with this promise (literally had the agent promise….otherwise I would have booked a vacation in Orlando), I got a notice that the Mariner will no longer be offering the Dreamworks experience and the ship will be renovated to cater to the millennial crowd-complete with a surfing simulator, monster water slides, and a tiki bar. So basically they were taking away everything that got us to sign onto the trip and replacing it with nothing that was age-appropriate for either my three year old or us 40 year old non-millenials. Knowing that this is going to turn into a trip where I am now going to have to get creative with entertain activities (like I do every day at home…looking for a break to just have fun w the fam!), we tried to cancel. RC refused to refund our deposit because according to the fine print they can change anything they want at any time. As a consolation, they offered an octopus stuffed animal for my daughter which boldly advertises their logo and one dinner at a specialty restaurant. I requested the most kid-friendly at the earliest available time, and was given Chops (most upscale) at 7:30 PM (30 min before bedtime). The icing on the cake was months later I got another email letting me know that babysitting services I was told would be available for when my daughter goes to sleep were discontinued.. The corporate office suggested we “throw” our daughter in their child-care on the ship, not quite understanding that we actually wanted to spend our time with our daughter. We were promised that there would be family storytime (nope). We were promised that our daughter would be able to ice skate (started at 8 PM…bedtime). We were promised waterslides (my daughter was too little for the waterslides). Laser tag was not even an option for her. The climbing wall and VR were a tease for her. On the last day, the schedule said there would be a kid’s movie by the pool-we cut our visit to Nassau short to make it to the movie that never happened even though it was on the schedule. Instead, they showed a video about extreme sports. There were three 30-minute family activities a day, one of which started at 8:30 PM, and many of which were not age-appropriate. They said we can enjoy the pool, and I explained that we have a pool in our backyard..thats not a big deal to us. I was assured this trip would be just as fun and mindless with tons of things for us to do as a family. It was not at all what I signed up for. Total bait and switch. The cruise itself was well-run and the staff were perfect. No doubt this is a great trip for pre-teens, teenagers, or young adults. It us not the ship for a three year old. The announcements at 10 PM reviewing all of the evening activities woke her up every night. The child care appeared to be clean and the staff was super-nice, however if I was going to go on a vacation to be without my child, I would leave her with grandma! We wanted a trip with Dreamworks experience as advertised and by their staff (we did not use an outside travel agent). Although I have been cruising with RCCL since I was 14 years old (and hoping to continue the family tradition of RCCL family cruises), I do not see myself patronizing their company in the future with the way this was handled. There are too many vacation companies that would have handled this in a more honorable way. We are truly disappointed that we were sold a trip that was not what we experienced and will be dealing with more honest companies in the future. I have such a sour taste in my mouth with RCCL after the way they handled this. They lied to us…oh but there is the fine print so its ok… Read Less

I booked this cruise because the travel agent I was working with said that the ship was undergoing a renovation that would be completed by the time I was scheduled to sail. This was not correct. If there were renovations completed, then they were in areas that were not in the general public viewing area. Decorative molding was missing on the walls. I was planning to spend time in the very small casino, to add insult to injury, there is not a non-smoking part of the casino. My plans to have fun in the were ruined. The cigarette smoke migrated out of the casino, exposing patrons to second-hand smoke. The casino is located on the same deck as one of the dining rooms. My stateroom had a urine smell and two attempts were made to shampoo the carpet and it did not resolve the issue. I was offered another stateroom on day 4 (this was a 5 day cruise) by a manager named Anselmo Torres, who initially gave me fake compliments on my appearance, offering me a bottle of wine, and then offered another cruise at a discounted rate, all of which I found to be laffable and down right insulting. Two out of the four scenic elevators were inoperable the entire duration of the cruise. See pictures, causing a delay in traveling between decks. Some elevators skipped a floor because too many people were on them. Spent most of the time taking the stairs because at one point, three attempts were made to get on an elevator that was full due to the other inoperable elevators. When addressing my concerns with guest relations, there were other patrons who were experiencing the same issue regarding unauthorized charges to their staterooms. Several attempts were made by them to get the charges removed and were unsuccessful. I witnessed two RCI employees switch over to speaking Spanish when discussing a patron's bill in front of the patron. This was totally disrespectful and insulting. The drink package was not worth the money. Please do not purchase them. Please check your stateroom charges, request a final statement, and make sure RCI corrects any discrepancies before disembarking the ship. My father was billed for a drink he never had. Went to guest relations 5 times, my father spoke to guest relations 3 times and when I checked my credit card statement, the final stateroom bill did not match my credit card statement. I called the corporate office this morning. They record your conversations to try to catch you in a lie, but when you confront them on something they were at fault for, they do not admit their faults, they just attempt to wordsmith what they say because they know that they are being recorded. This is some of the most unprofessional form of customer service I have ever experienced. Word of mouth is very important and I will be sure to never recommend RCI to anyone. It really upset me that my very first time on a cruise was one of the most terrible experiences I've had. I hope to try again with another cruise line. RCI does not deserve another chance. Read Less

Embarkation was easy no problem there. But this cruise is the most boring cruise I’ve ever been to. Entertaining will kick around 11pm and there is no pool ambiance except belly flopping activities, the last night of the cruise they have a deck party starting at 11:15pm!!! Which is crazy!!!! He whole cruise like a retirement community just to bring out some entertainment on the last day. He promenade will provide entertainment as well staring at 11 pm. The live music can hardly be heard because is to tight of a hallway for such potent speakers. Then later you will conglomerate like a sardine on a stretch hallway to dance old music either 70’s or 80’s the Latin club is a jail size space located on deck 4 where you listen to old Spanish salsa and is tight and uncomfortable to dance. If you are looking for other areas of the ship be prepared to get lost, is a maze!!! Chops grill is overrated. The steaks are cooked however they want you to eat it not how you ask for it. I wanted medium I got rare and when I asked do it to be cooked a little bit more the chef turned into chef Ramsay from Hell’s Kitchen. Yelling at the waiter being rude and making eye contact with me as if I had offended his awful cooking techniques. The stateroom is old and moldy smelling, beds hard as wood planks and if you ask for a room with one bed, be prepared to fall thru the crack in the middle where they conjoin the beds. If you don’t get your room clean everyday you will get harassed by the cruise coordinator, he will knock on your door he will stalk you on the hallway asking if the room is ok because it hasn’t been cleaned. Ports are good and shore excursions are ok too. Organized and easy to get to. I will not recommend this cruise. There are better and much more entertaining cruises. Cruises that will make say I can’t wait to come back. But not this one. I was happy to disembark this morning. Read Less

Ship has been refurbished but not carpet and drapes in cabins . There is a musty Odor because they are so old. The only way I would ever go back on this ship is if They refurbished the cabins. I was on this ship in November, when it was in Singapore. Everything about it then was awful. It was hard to believe it was a Royal Caribbean ship . The improvements have been significant, but until the cabins are re-done they should not tell you it has had a complete makeover. They did add a lot of fun amenities that the kids and myself really enjoyed. The staff were nice. The breakfast overall in the Windjammer could use improvement. The meats looked so greasy. The dining room food was good and the deserts were excellent. Overall , everything was acceptable, except the old, musty , moldy smelling cabins. When they complete this , I would go back. We chose this cruise because we wanted to go to Petra and the Dead Sea. However, from the minute we were picked up from the airport in Dubai, things went horribly wrong. We were a family of six adults. This was our 13 th cruise with RC and will definitely be our last. We were supposed to have special needs assistance as arranged by Royal specialist services as I have mobility problems and my husband was recovering from a broken ankle 7 weeks previous. We were promised wheelchair assistance at the airport and pier, but as soon as we became under the jurisdiction of RC the assistance disappeared. There was no wheelchair assistance at the hotel where we were booked in for breakfast and when we got to the pier we did as instructed, found an RC person, asked about wheelchair assistance and were told we had to wait for two hours, outside sitting on a concrete floor in the midday sun with temperatures in excess of 40degrees. Family members went off and found two wheelchairs, not belonging to RC and took us into immigration and we were not allowed to go any further because they were not RC wheelchairs. Eventually 2 RC personnel came after a lot of hassling, took us on board, dumped us in the Windjammer and took away the wheelchairs so we could not access our stateroom. We were told that we would have to stay where we were wait until the ship sailed as they did not have enough wheelchairs. Again family members went off searching for staff to resolve the situation and after making a fuss which we really did not want to do, we eventually got a wheelchair and the family ferried us to our stateroom which was scruffy with paint on the carpet and the balcony was a disgrace, they had to come and clean it before we could go out on it. The automatic doors to some of the toilets did not work so unless someone was with you, you could not get in or out of the toilets. We are Diamond plus but it meant nothing. We asked for bath robes and were told there were none available. At each port the ship started discarding furniture and metal into skips lined up along the quayside as the ship was going to Cadiz for a refit and many crew members were finishing their contracts in Barcelona so they didn't' really care. Many were of Eastern origin and had difficulty understanding what we wanted or needed. The officers and guest relations were mostly absolute rubbish and guest relations were rude. We were so disappointed as we have recommended RC to friends and family but never again. I could write a lot more but am too disgusted. All they wanted was our money. Read Less

Just returned from a fantastic holiday to Singapore Bali & dubai organized by Imagine Cruising the only problem was the holiday included a short 3 day cruise from Singapore to Malaysia. I wish we could have missed the cruIse out of the itinerary. The cabin was small & out dated even though it was supposed to be one of the better ones on the tenth deck. The worst part was the breakfast , the fight for a table in the Windjammer was unbelievable, dirty cramped tables, cold tasteless food that seemed like a back street cafe, We tried the breakfast in a lower deck but although not as busy whatever you had was guaranteed to be cold even the fried eggs that were like bullets, the toast had to be ordered from the waiters that tasted as if it was toasted the day before then warmed up. On the first day we booked a trip to Kuala Lumpur, then my wife's legs were playing up,so within 7 hours we asked to cancel it, only to be told sorry you still have to pay, unless we give you a doctor's note which will cost you £150 the trip was only £50! The whole feeling is "how much money can we get out of you" with water costing $5 for a litre & if you dare bring any on board they confiscate from you. Everyone we spoke to said this is NOT how Cruising is! It was Cheap & Nasty. SORRY Royal Caribbean. MARINER OF THE SEAS "NEVER AGAIN" Read Less

Spent a week on Mariner. Upselling began the minute I got on with pressure to buy drinks package, tours, internet, cheap clothes and jewellery. The main 'atrium' is a poor excuse for up selling of just about anything except anything of worth. Compared to eny other ship I've been on - HAL, P and O, Cunard etc - this ship is garish and cheap. The library is no more than a small corner with the fewest books I've ever seen. The food is low cost as possible; the games and dancing are non events. I'd heard that Royal Carribean had gone down from various other folk but decided to go anyway. I just wish I hadn't. Sorry - can't think of much positive except the paid restaurant where the food was better - but then I paid a good deal extra for it. Royal Caribbean you really need to up your game. Read Less

Pathetic Food, very disapponted - All Snacks, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner were absolutely with no taste and complete waste!!! There is not much Food options available for Vegetarians and Jain people. In their 24 hr room service, you can only get Cheese Pizza and French Fries (2 options only) repeated every single day, and repeated for Lunch, Snacks and Dinner all times. Imagine how can you have same thing, all times, all 3 days? We dont drink alcohol and so we ended up paying a charge for each mineral water bottle to be USD 5.84 i.e. appx SGD 8. No water bottle offered free. People who drink get packages, in which they get free water. It seemed to me that this cruise was meant only for people who eat Non-Vegetarian food with multiple food choices for them, and only for people who drink Alcohol. Speaking of my specific family, we are Indian Vegetarians, who doesn't eat Onion, Garlic and Mushrooms. We are not Jain, i.e. we can eat potatoes, carrot, ginger, etc.. its just onion, garlic and mushrooms that we don't eat. We are called "Vaishnavs" or what Mumbai people typically name us as 'Half-Jains'. I booked my cruise trip 2 months earlier than the sail date, dropped email describing my food requirements, called up customer care at least 2 times to add this note to my booking, and to my surprise, the 1st day itself in the Windjammer cafe, we had to go around hunting for our food, asking several supervisors who had no clue about our requirement. They rushed and prepared only 1 Dal and 1 Vegetable, and asked us to take Rice from Buffet...that's it...that was the lunch offered to us. The dinner at the Main dining room in Deck 5 was pathetic, with absolute no taste. The taste of the food was very bland, I asked the waiter who cooked this food, he mentioned the chef was an Indian, so it seems like this Indian Chef didn't know how to cook Indian food, which is supposed to be very spicy and flavored, not really BLAND. The taste of food was absolutely like you have it in any Hospital in India. Further, none of the food kept at Windjammer Cafe had proper tagging on it, whether they are veg/ non-veg (no green/ red mark), whether they have egg/ eggless, neither the Veg food was kept separate...I saw the WOK used to take out deserts that contain egg was mixed up with 1 eggless desert and when I highlighted this to the waiter, he immediately replaced the WOK, no care taken. For cleaning tables in the Windjammer cafe, I saw the supervisor himself calling the waiter twice, who did not seem to be interested in doing his job, and just rubbed the cloth on the table which was still very dirty. There were NO Deserts offered for vegetarians, all containing eggs. There was just 1 small eggless cake offered, which after eating we felt vomiting. When I called the Operator to tell her why there are not much food options available for Jain/ Vegetarians, she mentioned that she doesn't know much about this, and I should go and talk with Supervisors on the Cafe. The supervisors were good, at least they arranged something to make sure we did not starve. However, the breakfast that we got was plain upma and dosa on 2 separate days. The lunch and dinner were only Rice, Dal, Roti with Bland taste. No papad. No pickle. No Paneer starters that you would normally get in any Veg frestaurants. So much disappointing!!! Read Less

We had priority check-in but was ushered to a busy counter over and over again we ended up standing in the middle of no where for a long time, Food was extremely terrible, fine dining is a joke, served wrong food, mixed up order with other passengers, allocated table for dining is always taken by others, hair in food, overall service on cruise is generally bad, stuck up employees, horrible english spoken we end up missing alot of activities and instructions, messy evacuation drill by untrained staff, bad scheduling of activities, did not take into consideration for people who had shore excursion the next morning, day 4 at sea had nothing much going on I was bored to death, fitness room needs heavier dumbbells and also need free weights barbell, day 1 showtime had an issue and was not replaced so day 4 had nothing to watch, lots of 1st timer bingo players but "lucky zoe" did not gave proper instructions nor care about helping players understand the game and just went on to rush through the games, got stuck in faulty lift, no refil of shampoo and shower gel daily, bad shower head, water not hot at times, no p2p texas hold'em, putting green in dismay, the main door locking mechanism doesn't work (embrassing moments), I got diarrhea 24hr food service. I don't know how a long time cruise operator can get so many things wrong on so many levels. Read Less

Had a wonderful experience with RCI's Serenade Of The Seas in May 2005. 11 years down the road, decided to bring my extended family to the cruise covering Port Klang, Malaysia and Phuket, Thailand. Day 1 - On embarkation, the lunch selections (buffet) at Deck 3 was horrifying. Thought I was on a refugee camp. Time for Main Seating dinner (early), the menu's selection were pretty limited; divided into Asian and Western. My wife entrée was a fried (buttered) fish (Pollock). One bite on the fish, my wife almost puke (had to hold back), the fish was so fishy. Informed waiter about it and was offered to change, decided to go for an Asian item, "Pad Thai". Another disaster dish, completely tasteless. Being a Thai National Dish, known worldwide, there were no taste of lime, sugar, fish sauce, peanut not to say chilli. How can the chef put such an item on this route (Asia), knowing very well, the Asian are well accustomed to Thai dishes. My granddaughter (1 yr) was served a plain white porridge. Surely the chef had been well informed through my request for infant food to be served. We can see the caliber of chef RCI employed these days. We book ourselves 2 balcony cabins. Through the night after we returned from activities to rest. We found there were foul smell (like sewage) in our cabin. The other was good. On further investigation, we noticed the smell were from the shower/toilet area. Notified the housekeeping, who sent someone to investigate and agreed on our findings. He sprayed some chemicals and said will be back later to check. 30 minutes past and he was backed to said he needs to spray more as the smells were still around. On spraying more chemicals, my wife asthma was triggered. I had to get him to stop and he said don't use the toilet/shower for the rest of the night. Went to Guest Services, informed agent, about the issue. After some 15 minutes, he said will move us to another cabin of a lower cat. (oceanview) I refused to accept even for a night. After some 30 minutes or more waiting for a solution, he said the foul smells are resolved in our cabin. He accompanied me back to the cabin to ensure the issue been solved. This incident demonstrate the ship's sewage/drainage system needs some overhaul. (Something need to be done seriously) Service from the dining room was superb. Special mentioned to waiter Joel who served our table with his heart. Busboy, Hui, always around to ensure we have what are needed. Veronica, Head Waitress, does excellent damage control. Last but not lease, agent Yang, who arranged a compensation of Specialty Dining. Windjammer was another bad experience, for breakfast. People were rushing around, food and water were everywhere on the floor. What a chaotic scene. Breakfast at Dining Room, the menu was nothing to shout about. Only good thing about here is you would not find the mad-house scene like Windjammer. Johnny Rockets was a great place for a value for $$ lunch ($6.95). Ports of Call Port Klang - didn't take any shore excursions as it was too short a time given. Phuket - Was a great place just to walk along Patong. With this experience, I or any of my close associates will be cruising with RCI's Asia itineraries. Read Less

I choose the cruise as I thought it would be a trip of a lifetime. How wrong unfortunately the Mariner of the Sea is old and it looked. The entertainments Manager was old and passed it putting on really bad performances in the evening that most people each night walked out of. There were quiz nights but you couldn't understand the quiz masters who needed help with each question as they couldn't speak much English. The weather wasn't always good. I know that's not anyone's fault however there was nothing to do during the day No talks No shows No entertainment other than Bingo at $33 a card. I tried golf the pitch/putt was held together with tape so bad it was not worth playing on. Lucky their were lots of nice people on the cruise to talk to. We were all in the same boat (cruise) bored. The excursions were good however again expensive, The Royal Caribbean have one thing on their mind that's to take as much money as they can per person. Shops on board are all designer without a small shop for personal items. Staff on the cruise were very good they tried very hard to make people happy they had a hard job as people were not happy. The cabin was a good size and again the staff were very good. The food was always good all staff need a medal to work on such a poor cruise liner. This was my first ever cruise and I would not go again especially with Royal Caribbean. Lastly after spending a lot of my time in a queue waiting for customer service or paying for excursions checking room invoice Royal Caribbean messed up my room payment taking more money than they should have from my account then with an unsatisfactory reply are taking up to 28 days to return my money they owe me. Proper shambles truly unfortunate cruise company not worth a carrot Read Less

Not this time ! having been on the ship before i choose over other providers of same destination and cheaper to book R.C Mariner of the Seas what a disappointment Found the ship worse for wear luggage arrived damaged (to start with) ? sinking feeling continued throuout the holiday the service on this ship was shocking in 5 years since i was last on this ship it was unrecognizable waiter service none existent bars closed whilst entertainment on / rude bar staff FINE DINNING ? We were sat at a table for two With pictures and decor watermarked meals arrived cold left restaurant not to return Head waiter arguing with staff Other passenger turning up on formal nights in shorts & flipflops ?? only had one show per night in main theater this clashed with our dinning time ? could not change time (Broadway theme shows not this time round) Tables in windjammer restaurant constantly not being cleared of passengers (food) leftovers or cleaned had to have our meals in these circumstances on many occasions including at barbecue on pool deck food leftovers left all over the place for hours Pool complimentary towels badly stained Could go on and on never again Made formal complaint was offered £50 each in compensation ? ? ? What a terrible cruise we were delayed by the ash cloud in Bali and boarded the ship in Kuala lumpur nobody met us at the dock we had to find are own way on to the ship and carry are cases to are state rooms . The food was the worst I have ever had on a cruise ship (this was are 20th cruise on varies ships). At Breakfast the cereals were open to children putting the hands in the containers what has happened to the small individual boxes you could get? Try to get a bread roll that was not sweet was impossible. At night in the dinning room was geared up to the Asian market all be it that there were over 600 Brits 700USA and 600 Austrailians on board we were not catered for at all. When we asked the waiter about the choice of food all he could say was that the menu was set by people in Miami and it could not be changed. I have been waiting for a questionnaire to vent my anger at but none came I think the powers that be realise the amount of anger people had about a lot of things on this cruise and have not sent any out.
