Chose this cruise because it visited a lot of cities I have on my to do list. But sadly this is like a hospital ship. Brothel red style rooms, hospital food (really really bad) and zero energy. Travelers of a certain age, which is the majority, seem to enjoy this hospital/nursing home ship, but if you are not 70+ yet i suggest you avoid at all costs. The pools are kiddie pools, decor is tacky, lame casino with half the slots out of order. Crap activities and coffee is tasteless brown swill. For any good food or coffee you have to pay. For drinkable water you have to pay - the provided water is smelly beige. It will be easy to pay for because they aggressively hustle you when you walk around the ship. For the shore excursions they allow only a few hours. For example in Oman, we were allowed 4 hours. When you factor customs and travel, that allowed 2 hours to see the city. What a joke. This was my first cruise experience and my last. Read Less

We were very excited about this cruise and choose celebrity with its great reputation and with this ship having so many sea days we wanted to make sure we had great food and great entertainment... we were in an aqua spa suit with balcony and on first impressions although it was dated it was very clean so we were happy well this didn’t last long... our room was above the main buffet so it was noisy and constantly smelt of food and the overwhelming strong garlic smell that stuck to our clothes and was in our room and throughout the corridor was sickening... the main buffet served the same everyday just changing the meat, the man carving the meat would just pick it up with his hands and chuck it on your plate even though he was wearing gloves it put you off eating it he was very rude and he had an argument with a guest because he manhandled his food so bad half of it miss his plate, it was like being served in prison...I always eat fresh vegetables at home so much to my shock and surprise to find them serving only frozen vegetables in the buffet they were tasteless and soggy quite frankly vile... I can confirm it was frozen veg as every day we saw a member of staff walking through our corridor with bags of frozen veg taking it down to the buffet... there was a particular group of people that spend all day and all night in the smoking area getting drunk which is fine until they were so drunk they were swearing shouting racist remarks being rude to the bar staff chucking rubbish and bottles all over the floor and upsetting many guest around them... where was the ships security why were these people aloud to carry on... if i had been told for 3 days of this cruise the outer decks would be shut down and lighting turned down for safety because of pirates I would have never booked this cruise, this also ment if you had paid for a balcony you couldn’t go on it the lights had to be off curtains shut... our room was difficult to get to and from with the amount of areas shut down on the ship and I saw many elderly people struggling to get to there room in the dark and getting lost in fact we helped a few and we don’t even work on the ship... entertainment well if you can call it entertainment was diabolical the best singer I saw on that ship was a guest getting up to sing in karaoke, the shows were so amateur that it was embarrassing to watch I never saw any to the end cos it was awful, celebrity need to take a leaf out of Norwegian books they had amazing shows, they charge 25 dollars per person to play deal or no deal I know other ships charge 20 dollars, the only good thing the entrainment team put on was the silent disco... tv channels consist of all about celebrity cruises a bit of sport and news channels if you want to watch a movie you pay 15 dollars that’s of course if the movie can download now even though they are charging you 15 dollars to watch a movie in your room you can watch some of them films for free in the outdoor cinema total daylight robbery on celebrity’s behalf... also opposite the coffee shop you can purchase ice cream at a cost but you can get the same ice cream in the buffet for free how can you charge people in some parts of the ship and have it for free in other parts of the ship... daylight robbery... the internet is massively over expensive and we need it for my husbands work but over half the time it didn’t work...When we got on the ship we brought a drinks package included soft drinks and alcohol much to our surprise half way through our cruise the had run out of coco cola, Nescafé and other brands not exceptable celebrity especially when it was at the start of the sea days so you had to wait till the next port before they could stock up again and even then there was still beverages unavailable... we wanted champagne with our dinner in the Italian restaurant which was the only nice meal we had they had a long list and we know that’s not encluded but we wanted a romantic night and were more than happy to pay for champagne the only good one they had was Cristal how can you run out of champagne...me and my husband got tummy aches and sickness along with a lot of other guest whilst on this ship, the only time We enjoyed ourself was when we got off the ship in Tormina and Petra... when we docked in Abu Dhabi we changed our flight and came home early because we couldn’t stand to be on this ship a moment longer I can honestly say our bad experience with this ship has put us off cruising for life I certainly will never book with celebrity again Read Less

We chose this cruise line because of the itinerary and that is the only reason, three days in Israel. Three cabins, two generations of cruisers. We have been on lots of cruises, never on Celebrity and never again! Let me start with the positive: big upgraded rooms (we paid for this!) nice staff. Now the negative: we paid to upgrade my parents, we show up at entry, there is no cabin for them and no one seems concerned. I pitched a fit and they found one. They charge for spin and Zumba and yoga classes, a first in my experience. No free Internet --in fact Internet charge was close to $500. Many rooms off limits thruout the cruise for private functions. Unless you drink tap water, coffee (lukewarm) or tea, you pay for ANYTHING you drink. You pay for specialty restaurants. You pay for gelato! Food in dining room and café was unbelievably tasteless even desserts!! Even croissants! No real fridge in rooms. No bottled water.Certain room service items were extra. Ship dirty and smelly Entertainment and activities scant.Forget TV movies and channels, very limited and mostly UK game shows!! Hard sell on everything, in fact, most "activites" were sale shows. 26 such events in ONE DAY. Port lectures were very poor and unreliable, mostly telling you where to shop at their "preferred: shops. It took us three hours to get a rerplacement bathroom light. Towels and sheets are very old and paper thin. Tap water is vile yellowish. Prized for trivia contests were pathetic...sunglass paper cover, small USB stick...?deck of cards Charged $50 for one small sack of laundry. The experience was laughably bad. Avoid at all costs. We chose those cruise because it was going to places that we wanted to visit and also ports we have never been to be. Right from start it was horrific. We arrived at Rome port to find the ship not there. We were told there would be at least a delay of 6 hours due to bad weather. During that wait, which the cruise company were aware of all we were offered was a small bottle of water and a small packet oftuc biscuits but because they run out of them we had to share. There were not enough seats so we had to stand part of the time. Then we got to our state room to find the air conditioning not working which took them 5 attempts before it was put right. We had to wait in the room to explain the problem each time. Eventually they put a new system in which would have been done on the first visit. Then on 5th day toilet didn’t work so they had to put a new system in there. We asked to be put into a different cabin but we were told the cruise was fully booked. Also our cabin was never cleaned when we first got into it. Our hand towels were a disgrace. I have better dish clothes. The food in the restaurant always came cold and selection very poor. The whole of the ship looked as if it needed refurbishing. I have never been on a cruise where they didn’t have the currency of the places we were visiting. They didn’t even have euros. When we were at sea there was nothing to entertain us except if you were interested in the casino or going to an auction to bid for a painting. There were so many issues I could go on and on about it. It was even more of a disappointment as we were on the cruise to celebrate my husbands special birthday. Read Less

It was the worse cruise we have ever been on. On getting to Rome Port the ship wasn’t there due to bad weather which they were aware of 24 hours beforehand. We then had to wait over 6 hours on a hard chair (if you were lucky to get one) and all we were offered was a small bottle of water and a small packet of crackers which they run out of so we only got 1 to share. When we got to our cabin it wasn’t cleaned out sticky marks on the unit. The toilet smelled. Had to ask for disinfectant. The hand towels were a disgrace ready for the bin. Then our fiasco began our air conditioning didn’t work and we had 5 visits from maintenance before they installed a new unit. We asked to be put into a different cabin but was told there weren’t none as shipwas full. Then on the 5th day toilet didn’t work so once again had to wait in cabin for anew system to be put in. The whole ship looked as if it needed refurbishing. There wasn’t any currency to be had on the places we were visiting . The days at sea were a disgrace nothing organised unless you wanted to gamble or attend an art auction. The excursions cost a fortune so didn’t go on any. All the food in restaurant came up cold and had to keep returning it and the variety of food was very poor. The entertainment was more suitable for children which obviously didn’t appeal to most people as the theatre was never full. It was such a disappointment as we went on this cruise to celebrate my husbands special birthday. Read Less

Celebrity Constellation – Sailing date 19th October 2018 Having booked several Celebrity cruises over last 4 years we decided we will never cruise with Celebrity again. Let me explain why. The good Without a shadow of a doubt, the best thing about Celebrity (with a few exceptions) is its very hardworking and dedicated staff. The bad (1) The food on Celebrity used to be oh so good – a real dining experience in the evenings and a good range of choice in the buffet. The food in the dining room is still reasonable but the menus have not changed in years, anybody with a half decent memory will remember what they are going to be fed for dinner without any need to go and have a look at the menu. Costs have been cut and apart from the gala evenings the evening meal is no longer an event to look forward to. (2) The food in buffet restaurant has gone downhill dramatically. It was never of the standard found on Princess, but now resembles canteen food. You will be offered an array of cheap cream based cakes that are full of sugar but have no taste. If you like refried beans and chilli, you will be laughing as they are on the buffet every day. The choice of dishes is in fact, almost the same every day. The so called themed buffets lack any imagination or quality. Breakfast is also exactly the same every day. The “eggs benedict” is tasteless with the sauce cooked en masse. The choice of cold cuts is limited to the cheapest of the cheap, the kind you would find in a two star hotel. Five star modern luxury – yeah right. (3) The entertainment is extremely poor with the same old tired acts that you have seen on all your previous cruises. The on board musical acts are dreadfully dull and stuck in the past. The music played in the buffet is depressingly dull (4) Onboard activities are all based on extracting as many dollars as possible out of the pockets of their customers The ugly We experienced some very bad weather on the last three days of our cruise and the way Celebrity handled the situation was inexcusable. Be very clear that unless you have booked your flights and hotel through Celebrity, you are on your own. We were scheduled to visit Portofino and Florence , however due to impending bad weather the decision had been taken by the captain to sail instead to La Spezia to ensure the safety and well being ??? of its customers and crew. Be very clear that when this decision was taken, waters were still calm and relocating to calmer waters should have been a clear possibility ( an issue we raised with Celebrity but one they did not address) By sailing to La Spezia it enabled Celebrity (by their own admission) to go ahead with the numerous overpriced shore excursions many of their customers had paid for, ensuring this corporation did not lose what would have amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars. However those of us that wanted to make individual arrangements were left with a TOTAL OF NOTHING. No transport was laid on to take us to our original ports of call - when enquiring at customer relations desk staff became unpleasant, confrontational and plain dismissive. The weather in La Spezia became so bad that the town got flooded and was closed, making it impossible for the independent passenger to go anywhere. The mooring ropes on the ship broke, resulting in us drifting away from the pier and colliding with another cruise liner. The ship eventually left La Spezia many hours late as the prevailing weather conditions were so bad that it was impossible to leave at the scheduled time or for many hours after, a fact that Celebrity should surely have been aware of. We arrived back in Rome at 3pm – nine hours late. During this time the level of communication from Celebrity was shamefully poor ranging on non existent. When the Captain did eventually come on the public address system to explain the situation, the ships entertainments officer came on the public address system immediately afterwards and repeated word for word exactly what the captain had said, I will leave you to draw your own conclusions on that. Many, many people missed their flights home and as previously stated unless you booked your flight through Celebrity themselves you were on your own with very limited access to wifi to try to get flights re-booked, hotels booked etc. This review has been delayed as we wrote to Celebrity seeking answers twice and twice waited an eternity to receive what resembled in our opinion a “copy and paste job”, notably with spelling mistakes - please do not think me petty but this shows, in my opinion, how little Celebrity think of us, mugs that pay into their profit when the chips are down. We asked why we had effectively been taken into the eye of a viscous storm instead of being sailed out to calmer waters in Spain. Their response was “they acted in the best interests of the passengers and crew” We believe as a group that their main interest was in the money they would have lost had they had to refund the cost of all those pre booked excursions. The response from their customer service team was most unhelpful, refusing to answer many of the issues we raised. In our communications with celebrity we asked that our concerns be passed on to and responded to by a Senior Manager – this request was ignored. We asked about compensation for our lost three days and were told that their senior management team had taken the decision not to pay any customer compensation. In short, they had badly let down their customers and appointed themselves judge and jury on whether compensation would be paid. Is there no independent body that rules whether compensation will be paid, based on a situation like this? Perhaps somebody out there can enlighten me ? Needless to say we will never cruise with Celebrity again. The standard of the food has slipped alarmingly, the entertainment lacks any real imagination or flair. Onboard activities are all about extracting your hard earned cash. However the most unforgivable thing is that they had a clear opportunity to do the right thing in a difficult situation and treat everybody equally not just those who could afford their overpriced tours or had booked their flights and hotels through them, but based on all the evidence to hand, decided instead to chase the dollar and their own corporate interests. Finally and very importantly the shambles that was the disembarkation in Rome, having arrived there so late. Passengers were understandably looking to leave the ship as quickly as possible, many in a last ditch attempt to make their flights home. The organisation from Celebrity was woeful. There was not even a semblance of any kind of crowd control. People were pushing and shoving and multiple different queues were forming. Celebrity placed the blame for the further delay in disembarking, after docking, squarely on the shoulders of the Italian authorities. As passengers continued to wait and wait to disembark, tempers became frayed, but not only among passengers but staff members who were doing such a poor job of organising the disembarkation also started to become rude when asked how much longer the commencement of disembarkation would take. Based on this experience, one could not help but reflect on what might happen if there were a real emergency on board this ship, making the decision never to travel with Celebrity again a very straightforward one. One would imagine that Celebrity held an in depth investigation into the events of last few days of this sailing. Perhaps they should share the lessons learned with all those passengers who lost money and suffered unnecessary stress as a result of their extremely poor handling of the whole situation. It is quite astonishing that so few people have reviewed this debacle of a cruise but maybe after reading this fact based review more people might feel compelled to add their thoughts. Perhaps Celebrity take the view that people live busy lives and the majority of dissatisfied customers never quite find the time to write that critical review? Read Less

Our recent trip on Celebrity Constellation from Venice to Rome was a disappointment. The number of people, the noisy activities, the lack of basic information and the continual selling of products produced a less desirable atmosphere. Also, in many ways it was like going to a private club where one did not know the rules. Throughout the cruise we were finding out how things worked or what was or was not available, such as no access to the Reflections lounge in late afternoon unless you were a frequent passenger of Celebrity. I did not feel welcome. The company failed to provide details such as floor plans in each cabin although there was room for a 48-page catalogue of the art work that could be purchased. Basic information about the ports that we visited was not given to passengers although I discovered partway through the cruise that the concierge had some information. And sometimes there were a few maps etc. available if you knew where to look and got them before they ran out. Celebrity advertises its select Dining program as allowing “guests flexibility with evening dining. Guests select to dine between the hours of 6:00-9:30 each evening, much like a regular restaurant”. But the reality is quite different. On the first day we learned that reservations could only be made before 6 pm or after 8:30 pm and only one day in advance, not for the entire cruise. Partway through the cruise we learned that pagers were available so that you could check in earlier than 8:45 pm (the first available evening reservation) and wait to be called (usually 30-45 minutes). As part of the three-dinner specialty restaurant package, we were assigned on the first evening to the Qsine Restaurant, a restaurant that offers a “unique experience”. Here we sat on mismatched chairs and tried to order from icons on a computer tablet. It was not a relaxing environment, especially when the trendy tubes that doubled as spoons spilled melted ice-cream all over our hands. The Tuscan Restaurant was excellent. We selected this cruise because it was one of the few companies offering two days in Malta, a place with a rich history. However, there were no presentations on Malta but there was time for a talk on gemstones. I was told that it was a corporate decision about when to offer “enrichment” talks. Similarly, it was a corporate decision to put the office of the concierge in the library. Hence, the quiet atmosphere was interrupted by phone calls and visits by passengers seeking information from the concierge. In addition, the open staircase in the library led to the computer room where there were classes and other noisy activities such as selling new tablets. The emphasis on the cruise seemed to be one of selling: either new products (tablets, clothes, watches, art work) or packages for activities during the cruise (internet, beverage, dining etc.). For me, travel is an opportunity to experience new places and learn about their history; clearly, my objectives and those of Celebrity are at variance. My lesson – choose another company. Read Less

We had chosen celebrity as we were under the Impression they had the best most Morden ships that catered towards adults, and a focus on well being etc How wrong we where. Its full of children and the ship is so old and run down it was just so naff. You will not get a seat by the pool st any point during your stay and even if you did it will be ruined by screaming children and awful singers and party games. You’ll be charged 18% on every single bill, no matter how long it takes them to bring what ever you’ve asked for, which will most likely come wrong or cold The buffet restaurant is a absolutle zoo, you’ll be lucky to find a table let alone a clean one. The San Marco restaurant is trying to be 5^ food wise but it just isn’t the food is missing something, it’s not that it’s totally bland it just isn’t good enough for the price of the cruise. The ship needs some serious maintenance, paint all over every window in the restaurant and dreadful 80s decor. There’s nothing to do but drink and shop, and at every stage they will try to flog you something, usually a over priced Rolex or a photo package The tours are all over priced by 4x at least. We got a taxi transfer for €15 and celebrity wanted €60 each! You get around 8 hours in port if you get off the boat at 7 and return at the last on board time of 4ish The entertainment is quite good but very cruise ship, think singers who couldn’t make it past the live stages of X factor The other activities are all over priced, £39 to play bingo EACH! Everywhere is full of fat rude Americans which just makes matters worse. Awful holiday and I will never return. Read Less

This cruise was part of a trip which combined a stay in Lake Garda and return journey on the Orient Express. We have travelled with Celebrity before and this was our worst ever cruise. The ship is extremely old and shabby. The staterooms are tired and in need of a complete refurbishment although they were clean. The tables are absolutely crammed together in the main dining room. The evening meal has the same core menu every evening, with a few variations to the beef, chicken and lamb dishes. The service, if you can call it that, is rushed and unprofessional. The pool areas are noisy with music blaring from 9am every morning there is a distinct lack of quiet areas. The excursions are extremely expensive and poor value for money. The standards have definitely dropped, this is not a 5* cruise. I will never sale with Celebrity again. This was part of an very expensive holiday and it certainly tainted the whole experience! We chose this cruise after hearing that Celebrity was one of the best lines and the itinerary looked great. Any notion of that ended quite quickly on this cruise. I will preface that I do not consider myself a picky traveler at all - I am overseas all the time for work and don’t require much. The issues started with one of our suitcases not arriving at the room and after a call to our cabin steward, being informed very rudely that I needed to fetch it from deck 1. Once I trekked down there, they handed me my bag (which was properly tagged) with no explanation. Only in the elevator did another guest explain that hers was held up due to having an electrical cord in it, so I am guessing my curling iron was the culprit but was never given any explanation or warning prior to packing that electric devices would be an issue. Then came the fun part... booked an excursion to Milan from Genoa which was downright horrid. The bus stopped at a rest area for 1/2 hour, shortening our time in the city significantly. The description included seeing Duomo and La Scala. 90 min into it, our long-winded and hard to understand guide (Daniela) had shown us a no parking sign and 2 “back alleys” and none of the sights. After viewing the back alley side of La Scala, we finally asked the Celebrity rep whether we could proceed to the church and she stated that we would only see it from the outside. If we had known in advance we could have easily got timed tickets ourselves online, but they would not disclose the agenda, preventing us from planning for ourselves to actually see the city. We broke off and crammed as much in on our own as we could in the limited time we were afforded, but disappointingly we barely scratched the surface of Milan thanks to all of the wasted time. I hoped this was an anomaly by at dinner we found our friends had a similar experience on their tour to Portofino - barely having time to see anything at all due to inept guides. We put on our game faces hoping for a better day in Rome, but alas, our bus stopped at the gate to the port for over 30 min (watching all the other buses from the Disney ship pass us by) to do some kind of personnel transfer. So underway an hour later for an already short day to try to take in a little of Rome. We will book on our own for the other ports and avoid anything related to Celebrity excursions. I will say that the food on the ship has been very good and there are some nice spaces. But the service at the bars and in the staterooms is nothing to write home about and definitely a few notches below Princess or Disney, our other cruise experiences. Disappointing for sure. Read Less

Compared to other cruises this ship seems very tired, there were no entertainment staff pushing shows and events and you were left to actively seek out entertainment and shows.I found some of the staff very rude and condescending especially guest services ,the drinks were very hit and miss one good cocktail out of three, they ran out of certain beers very quickly and the best they could do was offer you one that had been on display and was warm.we found the food to be either bland or extremely salty and not very appealing ,service in the restaurants was very slow.Guest services lost several passports and we were informed that we could not leave the ship at port and only half the tenders were running so waiting time to disembark was about three hours which gave you little time once you were on land .Quite the opposit though if you paid celebrity for one of their own excursions. There was a lot of misinformation about the cruise as we were never told distances from ports to places of interest ,two and a half hours into Bangkok this left pricey excursions and the cost of a hotel to stay overnight as one day would of been pointless all this adds up and I felt like we were being held to ransom as the alternative was to stay on board and admire the lovely view of thousands of shipping containers ,it was the same in other ports .we struggled to find the extra costs we wasn’t told about To top it all off there was a stomach bug active on the ship which we both suffered . This experience has probably put us off future cruising it was very hard work which is not what I want from a vacation .First time cruising with Celebrity, never again . Read Less

We have chosen this cruise because it was supposedly be a 5.5 stars however we were VERY DISAPPOINTED with Celebrity Constellation!!! 1st day upon our check, the room was dirty, with stains on the chairs. The telephone in our room was so filthy and sticky, that the buttons, as you pushed them down would get stack and not work. Disgusting!!! Our bathroom floor had a leak problem. While we were on a shore excursion, the mechanics came and supposedly fixed the problem. Upon our return to the ship, we have not seen any improvement with the floor but we were definitely missing my husbands unique knife from the bathroom. We contacted customer service regarding the missing item but nothing has been done about that. The common areas were not well maintained or well cleaned. While we were dining at the Seaside Cafe (Self Service), nobody would come and collect empty plates. We have observed this pretty much every time we have dined at the Seaside Cafe. We have witnessed other guests cleaning the plates from a table, as the staff was not available to do that. Our anniversary was never acknowledged, even though it was clearly mentioned in our documentation. Our last day was in Barcelona where we have arrived very early in the morning and our assigned check out/leaving the ship time was at 7:30am. Guests from some other rooms had to leave the ship at 7am!!!! That is unacceptable. I have never seen another cruise or a hotel which kicked out their guests so early. What about the poor elderly people who had an afternoon departure for overseas flight? What about the people who were transferring to a hotel in Barcelona? No hotel allows you to check in at that time in the morning!!!! After our check out we proceeded to collect our luggage at the carousel. When I have received my suitcase, the collapsible handle on my bag was not working due to a big dent into the suitcase. Someone must of smashed my bag very hard. After our cruise we were traveling through Europe and I had hard time transferring from place to place with my large bag without a working handle. There is plenty more I could write about our experiences during our sailing. About what was unacceptable and disappointing. I will just summarize it with a comment, that we are experienced travelers who are not very picky, however Celebrity Constellation is definitely NOT a 5* cruise. If I was generous, I would give them 3.5*. Read Less

As you are obvoiusly only looking for positive reviews to put on Cruise Critic I won't bother wasting my time describing the couldn't care less attitude of the staff, the drunken neighbours who we were told to put up with and the security staff who never bothered turning up on the penultimate night when this couple started arguing late at night. By this time both my wife and I had been quarantined in our room because of a virus we picked up on the ship. I lost one stone in weight the time we were aboard. On our flight back to Manchester from Rome many other passengers who we recognised as being on the same cruise had the dry hacking cough that characterised our virus. Virus may have been due to electricians replacing cables on level six for pretty much all the cruise, the vents in the ceiling being constantly open. The electricians were provided with masks. I chose this cruise because it was a five star modern luxury ship. But in effect it was 3 star at best, it was going in for refit it was understaffed, the service was very poor the food was the same every day. The cabin was old battered, stains on the balocony and the bed had metal sticking out of it which my husband hurt his leg on. I had been looking forward to this 5 star ship as we had saved our money to go it normally we would go on cheaper cruises. But we wanted a bit of luxury. We did not get this I complained on the ship and they put a towel over the metal bit on our bed. They could not however make this into ship 5 star ship in the 2 weeks we were on board. They said I should have complained more whilst I was on board, but I would have spent my whole cruise at reception doing so. Because I didn't complain enough on board they said they were unwilling to give us compensation, even though my husband hurt his leg. They missreprested this ship and missold this ship to us as a five star luxury cruise , and I will be reporting them to trading standards. Read Less

Would never sail in the constellation as little activities and same old food everyday lack of waiters for bars noisey ship, bars up stairs closing at 6.30pm , entertainment wasn't crash hot , lack of English speaking crew had noise in cabin complained several time and last day of cruise they decided to upgrade me and every port we went to to get to town was 2hrs away and u had to find your own transport to town so the ports they chose was not ideal and 2 nights before end of cruise they were scrubbing everything down up top deck and lower decks we all felt like we were being pushed off the ship and if u didn't take a drink package the drinks were over priced , internet was very very expensive , also cabins weren't cleaned properly as when I got into my cabin there was a pair of shoes under my bed and air conditioning kept playing up in rooms and when we had to depart ship we had to be out of cabins by 8am and the cabin person was stripping beds before 8am I will never sail the celebrity constellation ever again and they had the cheek to class that ship a 5 star I would rate a 2 star Read Less

Cheap rate for such a beautiful cruise. Excellent cabin service, magnificent meals, well organised day tours, friendly crew, excellent cabin concierge, well mannered and nothing was too much trouble. Great entertainment, easy to navigate ship restaurants and other facilities Enjoyed ourselves immensely and would not hesitate in recommending my friends to participate on one of your cruises. Thoroughly enjoyed the walking facilities which we took advantage of every morning. We also enjoyed meeting other passengers from various other countries and found them so friendly and welcoming, as we listened to many of them expressing other cruises which they participated through Celebrity Tours. The ships crew and staff we found to be most helpful and knowledgeable and nothing was to difficult for them in assisting us The dockside entertainment was so welcoming as we entered and left port. The buffet food service was something to behold as the food was excellent and in great quantity. Read Less

I was looking forward to seeing other UAE islands and my husband paid for upgrades to Aqua Class, what a waste of money! The cabin was small dark and balcony enclosed so you had no sun on it during the day. In fact we asked if we had been given the right grade of cabin only to be told well it is an old ship. We were so disappointed not at all what we were led to believe. We complained no one interested just said we will put you down for another cabin if one is available. The net curtains were dark in coulour and had 2 big tears in them mended with cotton,no fluffy bath sheets, in tiny bathroom 2 ordinary bath towels,I could go on but would run out of space. Blu restaurant over rated, food went back several times as not cooked how we asked etc one evening we were given a plate with a steak on and nothing else?? Non stop hassel trying to sell drinks packages. Shuttle bus 10 us dollars each to Kasbah for the old souke a rip off, just a few second hand shops and approx. 4 gift shops no souke in sight,no one wanted to know as we had used the facilities provided ie a bus into town a 6 min journey to look at nothing.despite the mis leading description. Lack of information on board. Very very poor and no one is /was interested. By the way if you buy the drinks package be prepared for an 18% service charge . Read Less

This was our first experience of having a cruise. I can honestly say we would never go on another cruise again. The staff were courteous and friendly though and helpful. We were bombarded from day 1 with sales pitches for different restaurants, art auctions, second hand watches and tours. The tours were outrageously priced and EVERYONE we spoke to was dissatisfied with the tours and the cost. Guests complained to us about the beach trip (Goa) having not enough sun beds ,in Mumbai some guests were driven past Gandi's house and not allowed to visit. The most pleasant experience I had was the great classes and staff in the gym. When I was packing to leave the ship I found a credit card from a previous passenger and some of his clothes in the back of the wardrobe. The disgraceful disembarking in Abu Dubai port at 10-30 pm and queuing in our sleeping clothes for customs was unacceptable. We were most upset when after chatting to fellow passengers we discovered some had paid substantially less than we did. Our room keys did not work for 9 continuous days regardless of how many times we had to go to reception. I could continue to list many other incidents that occurred but frankly I just don't want to remember the experience Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the destinations, and because we had sailed Celebrity on one other occasion and it was amazing. Embarking was fine. However once at our room we realized the ship was in very poor shape, and needed either to be refitted or retired. Our balcony was very dirty, rust in all the corners, couldn't see through the glass on the balcony because it was so dirty (this was a continuing theme on this ship). The show in out suite had mold in the corners, the walls of the shower itself were pulling apart. The sheet on our bed had a big black mark on it. The sheets weren't changed until day 4-5. There was no information in our room about either the ship or the cruise. Yes, we got the daily news letter, but that was no help, in finding our way around the ship, or what was available and where. Extremely disappointed with this. One thing we were looking forward to, was of course the food. What a great disappointment that was. On our previous cruise with Celebrity (5 years ago) the food was second to none. This trip the choices were limited, and very poorly cooked. We had dinner in the main dining room 5 fives. Three out of 5 times, our meals had to go back, either over cooked or under cooked. At one point the restaurant manager brought the chef to our table. The chef asked us to ask for our meals to be cooked by him so there was no further problems. The problem was out waiters would not pass this information on. The tableclothes in the main dining room are very old and had many many pulls in the material. I would throw this out at home, not use for company. You could barely see out the windows, again because they were so dirty. We had two wonderful meals in the Oceanliner restaurant, the food was wonderful, service was excellent. However when you pay for a cruise you expect all the food to be good. The food in the main banquet was good at breakfast. We did find that the food being served during the rest of the day was out of sync. When we came back from our tours, they were serving hot meals. What we wanted was something small like sandwiches or cheese tray. The pizza bar was usually closed. How many hot dogs can one eat. The desserts were subpar with what Celebrity used to provide. Very disappointing. Other cruises that me meet in the restaurants, bar, by the pool, mentioned without exception how disappointed they were with the ship and the food as well. I hope others will be posting their comments. The service on the ship was excellent, with the exception of the laundry. We sent clothes to be steamed, they were returned creased, and one clean blouse was actually dirty when we received it. We booked this cruise because of the destinations (assuming the ship would be beautiful). Day one was Zadar, Croatia. We have previously been to Turkey which we loved and were looking forward to this. We did have a wonderful tour to the national park with beautiful waterfalls. It would have been nice we we have been informed that you could swim at the end of the tour. Again no tour details in your cabin or online. It was over 100 degrees. I went in the water up to my knees in my dress. But if anyone is going there please know to wear your bathing suit under your clothes. It is a beautiful site for swimming. Next however was the town of Zadar. Zadar has a wonderful sea organ that takes 2 minutes to see and hear, it is amazing. Then for the rest of the day, there is nothing else to do in town. There are 4, yes 4, historical buildings left in town. The town was bombed numerous things in WW2, and all the old buildings are gone. Why did the ship not go to Dubrovnik? Where there are numerous sites to see and things to do. Other ports where beautiful, but with very little to see or do. Guides on the tours were great and friendly, however you can only do so much when there is nothing to see. Read Less

We have cruised several cruise lines, (Royal Carribean, Carnival, Norwegian, etc.)by far, this was the worst cruise ever. The service for our cabin was horrible. Had to look for the cabin attendant several times. 1st only gave us 1 washcloth, 2nd replinished towels with a wet one, had to be told twice to replenish the toiletries! Then the toilet would not flush, although it was repaired. The food on the buffet was unseasoned, often cold, and they would run out of items! When we landed on the private island, we were served cold sandwiches (nothing grilled) with smears of tuna salad or two thin slices of turkey on huge buns. Many people took pictures of their sandwiches for complaints. The guests relations persons were rude, on the concert nights, the ushers who were to control entries into the theaters were inadequate. This was a theme cruise (The Soul Train Cruise), and the majority of the passengers were African Americans. I mentioned this, because hopefully, this was not the reason for the horrible service. Most of the ship's personnel were unfriendly, uncaring, and unhelpful. The only two highlights were our two waiters in the main dining room. I prebooked for the next Soul Train cruise, because of the entertainment. If this happens again, I will never cruise celebrity again.! Read Less

Food was horrible. First morning we went to sit down breakfast. Ordered eggs, bacon, toast and oj. Only thing edible was toast and it was cold, bacon was so salty it was awful. Next morning ate in buffet upstairs. Worse, how do screw up scrambled eggs? Next morning tried the omelet station. These people don't have a clue. Only good meal we had was when we ate at the oceanliners restaurant. Enough of the food issues, if you are going on this ship for the food, you will be greatly dissappointed. Our room was okay, little small compared to other ships. Had several issues with toilet backing up, they were there with 3 phones calls to fix. Glad we were on 7th floor cause when we happened to go to deck 2 and 3 to get off boat, it smelled like sewage. This ship has some issues and needs an overhaul. Gambling, did not see or hear of anyone winning. I made my fair share of deposits. Funny though their internal news paper they deliver every day said they were paying out huge amounts. They don't bother to tell you how much the put in... Very dissappointed to say the least. Second time to sail with celebrity and will be our last! Read Less

Fourth time, at least, on this ship. Good food, warm very pleasant pools which were dirty, beautiful ship in need of maintenance. Cabin lovely, spacious as ever. Security and guest relations staff downright creepy. They confiscated radios which belong to my family, despite having no cause to do so as they were not on the prohibited item list. They made false allegations of causing interference, and demanded that our family allow ship staff to browse thru our luggage in our absence. Many passengers said all they wanted to do was get off this ship as soon as they could. Celebrity management and staff do not believe their passengers' factual statements nor are they interested in accommodating them. When passengers assert their rights in the face of Celebrity's curious behavior, celebrity staff retaliates. If you value your liberty, property, family, peace of mind: do not book a Celebrity Cruise. Read Less

We booked an Aqua Class stateroom that was supposed to have an unobstructed view. The entire cruise we viewed this huge metal item that should have moved to clean windows, but never moved once. So every scenery picture has this big metal object. We might as well paid less and had a balcony with a lifeboat in from of it. Waste of money for us to have paid extra for this room. This class entitled us to the Blu restaurant. We have been on other ships that have the Blu restaurant and loved it so we went for the extra bucks and booked it on this ship. Huge waste of money. HUGE! Breakfast took more than an hour of sitting in our seats waiting for service. I mostly ordered oatmeal and most of the times was told they are out or waited the hour for them to run up to the buffet to get it. Every day my husband and I ordered tomato juice instead of the usual offerings that they had on their trays. That seemed to be an issue. The first day looking at the waiter was like deer in the headlights look he gave back to us. Also took close to an hour to locate. He even had to run to the bar to get it. We don't like cubes in our juice so we were served warm juice every single day. The next 8 morning were pretty much a repeat of the first as if they didn't get that we wanted tomato juice and we were going to ask for it every morning. Every morning without fail the creme poured into the coffee would curdle and it did so for the next 8 mornings. They had to remove the curdled coffee and replace it every single day, never learning their lesson from the prior day. The same people were always visibly surprised every time it happened. Dinner was worse. 2+ hours from the time we were seated to actually being served. The food was not bad, but nothing better than I get at home, certainly not the standards we usually have enjoyed in the past on Celebrity. The biggest complaint is the seating. We travel to get away from it all and to be with each other, not nasty unhappy people that make small talk and never to be seen again. If we want to make friends we would book a big table and sit with others. We don't. The tables for 2 are really tables for 4 as they are a mere inch apart, forcing you to be friendly and converse with your table mates that were forced on you by this seating arrangement. The buffet was horrid. Every day we tried to have lunch but could not stomach whatever it was they were trying to serve. Most days I survived on cheese and an apple. For Celebrity, it was the worst buffet I have ever experienced. The Solstice ships have such a wonderful buffet that many times we preferred that over a sit down restaurant experience. Not on this ship. Pure slop! We did get to experience a meal in the Ocean Liners restaurant and I highly recommend it. It was a true dining "experience" with a great menu and outstanding service. Also, real table for couples that want to be with each other and no one else. Outstanding experience. Sadly, this was our only highlight on the entire cruise. We were on a gay and lesbian cruise without prior knowledge and we do not fall into that category. We should have been warned in advance. It was an awful experience, not one I wish to repeat. This group got a huge discount while the rest of us paid the normal, non discount price. Totally unfair, considering they had the run of the ship and we were stuck in our rooms. The staff in uniform that were walking around the ship were friendly, made sure they did not pass us without acknowledging us. The ship was clean, the rooms were clean. The Waite and bar staff were all angry and unhappy about something and it showed. I felt at any moment there was going to be a revolution on the ship. We have been on over 40 cruises and this is the first one that I wanted to just get off and fly home and be done with it. Maybe we cruise Celebrity too much as the shows are all the same. Jayne Curry, the English comedian was funny the first time and almost as funny the 2nd time, but now its the 5th time and in all these years she hasn't changed her act, her stories, her songs one bit. Even on the elevator the other guests were saying the same thing, boring, and predictable. Get new acts or tell the old timers to freshen it up to new stuff! We have cruised Celebrity quite a bit, in fact we are a Captain's Club Elite Member, so I have a lot of Celebrity experiences to compare this cruise ship to. This ship needs a new manager or all new staff. It does not hold up to Celebrity standards at all. I couldn't be more disappointed and hope that this is not a sign of what is to come from this cruise line. Unfortunately we already long ago booked another cruise on this exact same ship for May to do the Adriatic Sea. As badly as I want to do that itinerary, I am strongly considering pulling out for fear of being on this ship with the same staff and receiving the bad food, bad shows and bad service all over again. Already a huge waste of money out of my pocket the first time, hate to be stupid twice. I filled out the online cruise form they send when you get off the ship and expressed most of what is in this review with no acknowledgment afterwards. Either they don't bother to read what is sent or they just don't care. I have since sent an actual letter to the main office in Miami but not enough time has passed for me to truly say I am being ignored. Beware of this ship! Read Less

I'm in this cruise as I write this. What a colossal disappointment. I took this cruise over the Thanksgiving week to try and do something new compared to the traditional family dinner. Mistake. Pros: rooms are more spacious than expected. Very easy embarkation process. Cons: sad to say there are many....too much emphasis on upselling, tips, paying for a little extra. It completely ruins the experience. Worst experiences were in the spa and on one of the excursions. The spa, which is a Canyon Ranch, is terrible. They could care less about you or your time at the spa, for which you are paying a great deal of money. I had a very pushy, rude, aggressive spa tech named Renata try and push power whitening (teeth). She was like a pitbull who wouldn't give up a steak. I have veneers and told her even my dentist said power whitening on veneers is not going to do anything. She insisted this is it true. When Presented with the disclaimer before treatment, it clearly says, "this treatment will not have any effect on veneers, crowns or caps." When I pointed this out to Renata, she panicked and became very defensive. She then said, "Well...this will clean your teeth nice instead!!!!" No thanks. I have a dentist and a toothbrush for that." Clueless and rude - not exactly two qualities you want in a spa tech. Next was my acupuncture/massage treatment. The same guy, who claimed to be a doctor (no way in hell!) did three treatments on me. They started out OK, but the. Turned into a shameless schill to sell Canyon Ranch supplements and seaweeds. In the middle of one of my treatments, which was supposed to be peaceful, a knock on the door and the. Hands coming in disrupting the treatments and shoving Canyon One vitamins and a box of seaweed I the room for me to buy. No thanks. When I said I'd check with my physician on the validity and necessity of the Canyon One supplements, he shut down. He couldn't believe he missed a sale. Sorry, try another sucker. If the Canyon Ranch is purely licensing out their name to Celebrity Cruises, I'd seriously suggest reconsidering. The brand and credibility of the Canyon Ranch legacy has been tarnished because of this relationship. Next con was the excursion in Playa del Carmen. It was not only boring as hell, but an hour late to leave because the ferry operator was nowhere to be found. No excuse. Next, our guide in Playa del Carmen was lame. He was as engaging and interesting as a Manila envelope. Of course he constantly had to tell us, "hey listen...my last name is not Rockerfeller. I only survive on these tips, so be good when I pass my hat around." Jesus Christ. Get me off this boat. I set out I this cruise hoping to book my next Celebrity cruise to Austrailia. NO WAY! I'd never in a million years do Celebrity again. Creepy, rude staff (and creepy Captain). I'll pass. Read Less

My husband and I had problems from the moment we boarded the ship. The first two persons we dealt with at the Guest Services desk were okay, nothing to rave or complain about, but we continued to experience problems including: our ship/cabin cards randomly being canceled causing long delays in getting drinks and food; getting locked out of our cabin; not being able to access the safe in our cabin where we had stored our id's, money and valuables; the first two nights we could not dine with the wedding party we were with (the bride and groom being the reason we were on this cruise); almost $600 in over-charges on our onboard account (still waiting to be refunded); and alarms going off when we tried to debark and embark the ship at the ports of call causing lengthy delays in enjoying our time onshore and then getting back on the ship. The third guest services person we dealt with was rude and abrasive and asserted that the problems we were experiencing were our own fault because we had changed cabins; however, we did not change cabins at any time... we booked cabin 7090 and stayed in cabin 7090 the entire time. On day 3 of our 4 night cruise we were fortunate to get a different Guest Services person, Angelina, who was a breath of fresh air compared to the previous persons we encountered - but even though she was courteous and professional the same problems continued to plague us and continued to ruin our cruise. Evening number 3 on the cruise started with us sitting on the floor outside our cabin waiting for a technician - this was after we had already spent a large part of the afternoon at the Guest Services desk that day. On the plus side, on this evening (the 3rd night) we were actually able to sit with the wedding party for the first time since embarking on the cruise - and we got drinks and food without any delays or problems. The next morning (last day of cruise) we debarked the ship in the Bahamas with no alarms or delays, but when we tried to re-board the ship alarms again sounded and there were ensuing delays as we once again needed to get photos and our ship/cabin cards "fixed" yet again. To add insult to an already spoiled experience, an envelope with a "future cruise certificate" was slipped under our cabin door about an hour before the end of the cruise; it was for $100 off a future cruise for my husband and $100 off a future cruise for me. Considering we had spent over $1700 on the cruise (over $1100 for the cabin and $600 for 2 beverage packages) - and considering that 3 of the 4 days on the cruise were fraught with delays and problems causing anxiety and stress, delays in getting food and drinks, and especially in preventing us for the first two nights of being able to fully celebrate with the wedding group of two young people who are very special to us (which again was the reason we were on this cruise) - and considering that day 4 we still encountered problems, although minor in comparison to the other 3 days - - - it was a total insult for Celebrity to slip certificates under our door that combined are worth a meager $200 off a future cruise! In all fairness to the many fine employees we encountered on the ship we would like to recognize the San Marco dining room staff for the excellent service and food; the many cheerful ship employees we passed in the hallways and who waited on us at the coffee and pool bars. It was their smiles and jokes that were the bright spots of our days. It’s too bad this same cheerful attitude and commitment to guest relations was not also present at Guest Services on the Celebrity Constellation (Nov 19 – 23, 2015). Read Less
