The free use of the thallasotherapy pool and spas were great. Deck chair hogs were not. Smoking was allowed on the far corner of the pool deck and the smell was disgusting. Had to hold my breath when I needed to pass through the area. Why not have smoking on an open deck where others do not have to inhale second hand smoke? Rude able-bodied passengers occupied the two tables set aside for disabled passengers in the buffet area and staff did nothing to correct this issue. Rude passengers also cut into the front of buffet lines and pushed. Best to eat where you can be served. Cabin was nice with plenty of space to store things and the bathroom had a cabinet with two shelves underneath the sink to store toiletries. Our cabin attendant was thoughtful and efficient. Food in dining room was delicious and the service was excellent. Finally got to see Petra. Was on my bucket list for a long time. Absolutely fell in love with Abu Dhabi and Dubai. I did not leave my heart in San Francisco...I left it in the UAE. Read Less

We did noy stay in Rome before departure as we have visited a couple of times before in depth,so we went straight from the airport to the shipwe did not have a great start here as we were told in baggage reclaim to look out on the left hand side when exciting missed them they were behind a great big pillar we walked around the arrivals and went back to our starting point luckily for us we spotted a fellow cruiser who waved to us and told us the location of the bags deposit to go to the ship(the airport team had there backs to the exit point talking not doing there jobs).Although we had pre checked in it was slow the coach was held back for some 10mins whole process took about an hour. The ship although we found it clean we also found it tired it was supposed to have had a re-fit earlier this year have a look at the carpet in Main Dining it is filthy and threadbare in parts. The cabin we found to be ok everything worked that we used. We went for second seating dining which we also do all the time when cruising we sat sat down everynight apart from 1 night in the Tuscan for our 40th anniversary of which the ship managed to cock up our Reservation. We enjoy the dining we were looked after very well in the most part found the food to be of a high quality and well presented and very good wines to go with the meals. Sorry we are lazy dont do activities(apart from the Quiz)but we foung that both groups on this ship are the best we have seen on any cruise. Service was of a high standard we did not find any negative issues with this. We used the shore excursions in Athens / Petra we found both of high quality with excellent guides (in fact the athens guide a young girl was the best we have ever had in any sort of excursion while on holiday). We used the shore excursion as well in Oman (Muscat Walking Tour) we did not do very much walking to be honest it was on a Bus we did not think this one was good valuse for money in hindsight we would do the Big Bus tour they did a good deal on Oman / Dubai / Abu Dhabi. Dubai / Abu Dhabi we did the Big Bus both run a shuttle from the boat to the kicking off point downtown. Dubai (saturday) chaotic drop of point is the Dubai Mall exremely busy did the mimimum we wanted to do but that was mainly because of the heavy traffic. Abu Dhabi a lot better traffic around the city a lot lighter if you are tight on time do the mosque. Disembarkation was fine off the boat strangley short of taxis outside and the 2 men running this moved the taxi down the rank so people at the head of the queue were overlooked British / Americans / canadians and Scandinavians sonn showed them the erroe of there ways. We stayed a further night in Abu Dhabi at the Dusit Thani fantastic and well appointed Hotel with a fantastic dining experience it is slightly set back from downtown and is pretty isolated but taxis are very cheap here. In all it came to our expectation we booked it for our 40th wedding anniversary and had a great time we made some friends without having to resort to some on board fancy club. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports of call. These included Malta, Israel, Crete and Mykonos. First sailed on this ship 15 years ago, however, the Constellation is still in a wonderful condition. The public areas still look smart and the only thing we noticed was some wear on the seats in the theatre. Service on board is excellent from the cabin attendants, the bar staff, guest services and the dining rooms. We ate breakfast and lunch in the Oceanview cafe and dinner in San Marco. Food was just basic, nothing special. Some nights we struggled to find an entree we liked and other nights we found it difficult to choose as everything sounded appetising. Cafe El Baccio has wonderful coffee and delicious cake selections. We ate in the Tuscan Grill one night, but in our opinion it was highly overpriced even with a 30% discount. We were on the classic drinks package which had a large selection to keep us more than happy! Never had to wait long to be served in any of the bars and there was a small wait to find a sommelier in the dining room or Oceanview Cafe. The evening theatre entertainment was very good, with a different show every night. Also enjoyed the evenings in the Reflection lounge. We had a concierge cabin deck 8 midship. The cabin was very nice, the bathroom was adequate and there was plenty of space for clothes. The carpet was in very good condition and the sofa showed only a little wear on the arms. The towels are quite small but the bathrobes are quite luxurious. We would certainly recommend this ship and will be sailing her again at the end of next January. Looking forward to that! Read Less

Celebrity food and service were both exceptional! Ship may be showing a bit of age, but the crew and service remain outstanding! Dining room food some of the best experienced in many cruises. Bar staff and service great throughout the ship, especially the Martini Bar (Ice Bar!). Check-in process at the pier seemed a bit awkward, but no serious problems. The cruise buffet food was not the best we have experienced, but still very good. Specialty restaurants were outstanding! Several entertainment shows were outstanding! Great options for shore excursions, and the itinerary was excellent. As always, cruises departing from Rome give a great opportunity to explore Rome, and we arrived three days early to do just that. Ports on the itinerary like Malta, Israel, and Crete were exceptional, and not ports normally seen on Med cruises. Definitely an itinerary we would take again. Price, service, food and itinerary made the cruise outstanding for us! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. We were in a Concierge Class suite with a balcony on deck 8, located midship, which was convenient. We enjoyed the ports and used local sightseeing trains and busses to explore. The best part of the cruise was the new friends we made! The cruise was smooth, we got to go to the heliport for sail off, which was cool, and the cruise uneventful for any issues. The shore excursions - one good, one, not. Celebrity needs to make sure that the tour matches the written description! We did better on our own. The food was okay, but I think they need to update their main dining room options.... we did not pay extra for the restaurants. Every morning we were greeted to the buffet by the happiest person in the universe, Jackie! The entertainment was cruise ship standard - a few good acts, some okay, a few not that good (we felt sorry for the performers who looked miserable). The new wifi was much better than a few years back, but slowed the last few days of the cruise, which was disappointing. Overall we had a wonderful time, and I will sail Celebrity again in the future (this was our second time) hoping to go on the new Edge! Read Less

Itinerary was great. Loved the new ports. Ship food was pretty disappointing in main dining and few choices of other venues. Although staff tried to please and were willing to offer another dish, food just did make it. Menu options not really good. Somehow pork and beans didn't really stand out. Lobster night did. Tuscan grill always outstanding. Too bad no Lawn club. Service overall was great as well as crew members. They really tried hard to please. The shows were mediocre at best and the casino was dead each evening. Since we had perfect weather, had the opportunity to sit outside and take in The rays on sea days. Overall. Will return but to a newer ship in the fleet. The constellation is an oldie and she is beginning to show her wear and tear. Might be better serving a different type of itinerary. celebrity is still a great value and a fun time. Read Less

Cruising the Mediterranean in early Fall is a great way to avoid crowds at the port cities while still enjoying nice weather that ranged between 70 and 80 degrees during the day. The Constellation is an older ship with about 2,000 guests, which makes It easy to get around without encountering long lines. We had an oceanview cabin on deck 3 near the Grand Foyer, which was a very convenient location. Our stateroom attendant was a friendly and exceptionally hard worker that kept the cabin spotless and would go out of his way to open our cabin door when we passed him in the hallway. Some of the bar staff and main dining room waiters were less friendly and not so eager to please the guests. We had to continually ask for food items that were not served as ordered. Occasionally, the food wasn't very warm or was overcooked. Even though I handed our main waiter and sommelier extra tip money one evening, it didn't seem to improve the table service; however, the sommelier was more accommodating in keeping our wine glasses full. A major concern with the main dining room service is that it took so long (2+ hours) to eat that we were always late for the nightly entertainment. Many other people said the same thing causing them to eat at the Oceanview Buffet to save time. On some nights, the food in the buffet was much better than that served in the main dining room. The itinerary included several great ports that were very enjoyable to tour around - Alicante Spain, Seville Spain, Livorno Italy and Ajaccio Corsica. These ports offered many nice shore excursions, some of which I booked independent of the ship. These private tours in 8 passenger vans are far more pleasant than the large bus tours that the ship offers. And, they can be arranged for considerably less cost than the ship. Our highlight tour of the cruise was an all day trip to Cinque Terre that I organized using the Cruise Critic discussion boards to add fellow passengers to our group. This area of Italy consists of 5 quaint villages comparable to the small cities along the Amalfi coast. The other port stops included Gibraltar UK, Sete France and Provence France. We had already visited Gibraltar & Provence on previous cruises, so we spent those days on board. We did get off at Sete to complete a walking tour of the city; however, there wasn't much to see and the sidewalks were littered in trash and animal droppings. Watch your step. This was our 14th cruise on Celebrity ships over the past 6 years. There has been a noticeable decline in the overall cruise experience with Celebrity. The company has found ways to charge for more things on board that were once free; they have reduced the quality & selection of the food in the main dining room; they have removed some of the liquors, beers and wine from the Classic drink package and put them on the premium package; and, they have reduced the variety of entertainment throughout the day. We cruises last year with the Constellation and the public areas are nice refurbished. I hope that the cabins also in a short time will be refurbished. On this ship you can always have a quiet place to relax and also in the public areas there is plenty space. The food was good and the service excellent as usual by Celebrity. The embarkation in Barcelona was very good and we were within 15 minutes on board. We had select dining and the food in the main restaurant was good and also the service was very good. We had balcony cabin cat. 2A number 7161 and it was a nice and clean cabin. No noise at all and not far from the elevators. The shows were not so good as we used to by Celebrity although the Celebrity orchestra was very good. The music in the public areas was also good. The ports are very nice specially Cadiz, Gibraltar and Ajaccio. We cruised already many times with Celebrity and we will certainly cruise with the Constellation again. Read Less

We booked this cruise during last years bogoho sale. We picked it mainly for the ports & that it covered 3 countries in the west Med. The unkonwn ports of Alicante, Spain and Sete, France were a plesant surprise which we thoroughly enjoyed walking around exploring. Not to mention the other ports were great with the exception of Marseille which was a disappointment and VERY dirty. - next time we.ll venture further a field. The crew and standard of Celebrity were of high class however the Constellation ship is a little "tired". We were expecting more of an update afetr the brief refurb earlier this year. It seems only the gift shops and high end stores were updated. Eg. Curtains in the Rendezvous Lounge had some rips in. Carpets worn in public areas. Music was loud from the bands. Wine glasses in the main dining room had water stains on all & you aeemed to be rushed thru your sitting. We had an oceanview stateroom 9001 on forward port side. Easy access to the gym, pool, bars and Ocean View cafe without any noise. Celebrity looks after most of our day tours which were great and you were guaranteed to be back for the ships sail that evening. The other ports we did our own exploring, mainly on foot or took advantage of the hop on hop off buses in town. All in all we had a great time. Met some lovely people from all over the world and hope to be back cruising again soon. Read Less

We choose this cruise at the last minute because we licked the ports. We arrived in Barcelona the same day and used the overpriced ship transfer, the check in was fast and efficient.Disembarkation was also fast. The ship is midsize [2000 passengers and easy to get around] we never encountered any lines. The cabin was a good size for an inside cabin but the bathroom floor was moldy and was taken care after a few days[a problem on all ships that,s easily solved with bleach]and the ruffles were thorn. Dining was very good but the number of selections is going down[same problem as in other lines] but the food quality is above is above RCL,NCL,Carnival and Holland. We didn`t attend any shows as we were tired. We had two days at sea and there was little to do. Service was excellent in the dining room ,cabin and buffet. We liked the ports of call and never used the overpriced shore excursions. We either joined a Cruise Critic Group or toured on our own. Alicante: We took a morning walking tour of Alicante and then went to Guadalest a charming town in the mountains. Cadiz; We toured on our own and took and open bus tour and walked around town, and had a good time. Gibraltar; We took a morning tour to drive across the airport runway to the frontier, and we went to see the monkeys and the caves.Int he afternoon we walked thru the main street. Sete: We took a tour to the village of Carcassone and it was nice. Marseilles; We went on our own to Aix In Provence, walked around and took the little tourist train.A word of caution about this port, the ship docks far from the center, the shuttle to the center was 15euros[round trip per person] and the taxi to the train station is 20euros.The taxi drivers at the pier are pushy and want a whole day tour.In the morning we took a cab all the way to Aix for 60 euros and the driver kept pushing us to do a whole day tour[we were worn out by the sales pitch] and even with the price of the ride being reasonable on the way back we took the train[6 euros for seniors] and a 20 euros taxi ride from the station to the ship.On this port I will take an organized tour from the ship. Livorno; We took the shuttle to center of town [5 euros round trip/each],walked for an hour thru the out door market and took a tour to Lucca a great walled town walked around and then stopped fro 1 hour in Pisa. Ajaccio; The ship docks in the center of town ,we walked around and took the little train fro a 1 hour ride. Civitavecchia; We had a transfer to the airport for 70 euros per couple[with 3 other couples] .The ride took 45 minutes and got to the airport at 9:30 am with a 1:15 pm departure but the check in with Air Canada took 2.5 hours.Air Canada had one line for Business and first class, two lines for people that had boarding passes, one line for the eldery, handicaped and people with small children, for the rest of us [the majority ] there was only one line with a slow attendant. I will cruise again with Celebrity keeping in mind that drinks are very expensive[$10 t $15] and beers[ $8 and up] and to allow extra time fro your Air Canada check in. Read Less

Have not done western med. wanted a cruise company with friendly staff. The staff were exceptional, except one. We chose aqua class, blue restaurant used throughout. The food has changed since using millennium in 2015. The food is not healthy eating now, but overall it was ok but some dishes same as San Marco. The staff in blu were exceptional. Although the ship has had a refurb in places it was difficult to see where. Cellar masters was very dark and gloomy. We are now elite cruisers and the free extras were very good. Ocean cafe staff were excellent. Staff was fairly good. Entertainment was up and down. Juggler was very good. Cruise destinations were good but did not use Livorno as a long way into Florence or Pisa. Excursions from ship were pricey. Used hop on hop off buses, excellent value. Gratuities were ok but did not like steward touting for a tip. Overall a pleasant cruise with exceptional weather. Lacked activities on board in respect of lectures etc and no formal evenings as such, but we knew that formal evenings were no longer Read Less

This Cruise was booked in September 2016 by my sister while she was on a Celebrity Cruise in the Balkans. The deal we got was tremendous, but we have sailed on Celebrity because we feel they are a step above others and the food has been tremendous. This cruise however left us disappointed in many ways. I will say the itinerary was excellent! The ship is 15 years old and has had some minor renovations but it's still 15 years old. We noticed quite a bit of rust and worn materials in various public areas of the ship. We were in Aqua Class on Deck 9, starboard. Which means every morning we were treated to crew moving furniture around the pool on Deck 10, bright and early! We did have an excellent cabin steward. Aqua Class dined in Blu which to me was quite a disappointment. There was nothing memorable or spectacular about the food or the menu choices. The service was great, but the food was nothing to write home about! This was our fourth Celebrity cruise. My sister and brother-in-law, and the other couple we were with have perhaps cruised 8 or 10 times on Celebrity. All agreed the food has gone downhill. I have always enjoyed the Mast Grill on every Celebrity ship. The burgers this year were disgusting, sorry but no other way to describe it. Not sure if it was the quality of the beef they were receiving in Europe or what, but they were horrible! Poolside bar service was also disappointing. They ran out of limes with three days to go, and ran out of Tito's Vodka with two days to go. How does that happen when you're actively marketing drink packages almost non-stop for the first several days of a cruise? We've also noticed a drop off in entertainment aboard. Maybe we were spoiled on our first two cruises with excellent bands but I'd prefer more music and fewer games while poolside, particularly on sea days. Theater productions each evening were pretty good, but the "big production" Elyria was "different"! We are currently booked for Alaska aboard the Millennium in May, fingers crossed that things will be better, but will be watching CC to monitor reviews, comments etc. While planning the cruise we were uncertain about what to do in Ibiza and Valencia. After boarding and discussing it with our fellow cruisers my wife and I decided we would book with the ship for those two ports. We had brought the Shore Excursion booklet with us. Was disappointed to find the prices to book on board were significantly higher than booking in advance. This may be customary but I wasn't aware of it. We are in our mid 50's, and our fellow cruisers in late 60's. I would say most of the guests were in the same range. Overall we had a great time, but as I mentioned above, I'm hopeful that others who expressed similar comments while onboard, will review here or let Celebrity know of their concerns. Read Less

Choose this cruise for the itinerary....wanted to spend some days prior to cruise in Venice and we were really looking forward to Dubrovnik and Kotor. Positives first - ship is in good shape considering her age, food in Oceanview and Marco Polo were above average, actually a lot better than the food we had on a previous Celebrity cruise last November through the Panama Canal. Any staff we encountered went above and beyond service expectations even though there are noticeable staff cutbacks. Entertainment overall was great. The ships entertainment crew and band were excellent. One of the better groups we have encountered on Celebrity cruises. Singers and dancers went above and beyond considering it was their last week on this ship/contract. Not so goods....Disappointing that Celebrity keeps changing their drink packages, i.e. last November on our Panama Cruise we could have Bailies but not this cruise as you had to have the Premium Package....most of the time I went to the bar to get our drinks as drink waiters were hard to find in the lounges and pool area. In the main dining room we were hardly asked if we wanted a 2nd glass of wine with our meal. First Evening Chic night was a disaster...front area was crazy, not sure what happened as I have never encountered this on any other Celebrity Cruises. When we finally got a table we waited more than 20 minutes to even get a menu, not sure what happened, maybe new staff or too many diners at the same time. 2nd Evening Chic night was 100% better. Café Bacio was excellent as usual and we enjoyed many afternoons there. We are loyal Celebrity cruisers but if they keep making these cutbacks we may have to start comparing other cruise lines. Venice, - We were their prior to cruise and walked around on our own. Ravenna - ship excursion RV23 Ravenna City Sights, we still had to pay for entrance to monuments/churches and didn't have enough time to see all that we paid for in the 5 monument pass. Very disappointing Dubrovnik - first day ship excursion DU06 Dalmatian Coastline and Wine Tasting, I have to say this is the best excursion/tour I have ever been on, well worth the money. Dubrovnik - ship excursion 2nd day walked around on our own, picked up some wonderful locally made jewellery Kotor - ship excursion KV17 Montenegro Highlights, this tour took us up through 25 hairpin turns by bus and into the country side, very good tour. Catania - ship excursion to Taormina CQ22 - Lovely Taormina, this was very good just wished for more free time there. Mallorca - ship excursion PJA5 Flamenco Show at Son Amar, EXCELLENT SHOW, only our bus was there, it was like a private show with tapas and sangreia. The dancers, singer, guitar player were AMAZING. Got to see a lot of the country side on our way there and back. Ibiza - Walked around on our own to the old city and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A lot of history to take in. Valencia - ship excursion VN25 - Panoramic Valencia tour, o.k. but needed more free time to walk around. Read Less

Had a great cruise , we were on deck 2 in an outside cabin which was spacious and had plenty of storage.Got a kettle and tea, coffee from the steward and no extra cost .We did not use the restaurant much as it was set dining time and we liked to dine early then go and watch the show ,the time spend dining could take over 1:30 hrs. Food in the buffet was all fresh and good choice , tea, coffee all day and good choice of ice cream also all day . The entertainment was varied and all very professional. We did not take the drink package as only like a glass of wine with our meal but at over $23 for 2 half glasses thought it a bit expensive. Did not take any of the shore excursions as also thought them to be expensive.Even the shuttle into town was overpriced as you could walk into most of them or use the public transport .Staff were all very hard working and friendly. Venice, we got €20 all day pass for the vapareto, went to lido ,murano, and Burano which has lovely bright coloured houses also got off at Torcello. Revenna port has nice shops and museums including Dantes tomb, shuttle from ship $15 .which you have to use as too far from town. Dubrovnik, ship shuttle is $15 but the local bus is only 15 krona you can also walk takes about an hour but it's uphill . Kotor , tender , nice town , you can walk up to old church then further up to fort , €3 , well worth the climb for the great views . Cantania , you can walk into town , busy fish market and again plenty of churches . Ibiza , nice promenade walk 40mins or $8 for shuttle . Valencia, ship shuttle is $10 but there is a local free shuttle to the port entrance and then 2min walk to local bus stop to town , number 4 , €1:50 . Read Less

Enjoyable experience from start to finish! The itinerary was the biggest factor in selecting this ship. Great ports of call. Entertainment was excellent! Onboard activities were fun and engaging. Port & shore excursions were great! The ship was smaller than Solstice class ships we had taken before but we adjusted to the layout of the Ocean Cafe and dining room seating. We prefer separate food stations. All cruise staff were attentive and very friendly. Ship is a bit old and in need of an update. Cabin needs more storage and bathroom shows signs of age. The deck furniture was old and showed signs of wear and tear. Furnishings are dated and too dark. The lounges were dim and quite small. Overall, we had a great time and have beautiful memories. We took many pictures at the various ports and on the excursions. Our next Med. cruise is planned on the Eclipse. Read Less

We chose this cruise because most of these ports were new to us. We wanted a cruise that would depart out of Venice. We went 4 days early to enjoy this wonderful city. Getting on the ship was easy and fast. The food and service in Luminare was great. We ate there everyday and enjoyed it. The ports were beautiful with lots of offerings. We took some tours through the ship and some independent. Most of these ports were very easy to get around. The scenery is beautiful! We enjoyed the entertainment on board too. The entertainers that were brought on board were very good. We like the size of this ship. It was easy to learn where everything was. Also the passengers are under 2000 people so you can easily connect with other passengers. We enjoyed stopping by the Martini Bar before dinner. Great Martinis and a wonderful spot to meet up with fellow cruisers. Disembarkation was very easy too. For lots of reasons we enjoyed sailing on the Constellation in the Suites. I know it's more money but there are great perks. We loved this cruise and would go again. Read Less

We went on this cruise as part of the Abraham Hicks large group. It is so wonderful to cruise with people of such high vibration. The itinerary and group workshops were wonderful! We were well taken care of by our wonderful cabin attendant, Nino. Our cabin was well located aft and midship. We are used to the newer ships with better storage and bathrooms, than the Constellation. It took some getting used to. The water is very heavily chlorinated and I am allergic. I brought my own water filter, but I could still feel my skin burning and itching from the shower. The group had a large section in the main dining room reserved just for us. The wait staff was very good, Jom, the sommelier, was outstanding. We had the classic drink package included. That said, we couldn't get a martini from the Martini Bar with the classic package. As with the other cruises we have been on, we were nickel-ed and dimed to death from the overpriced specialty dinners to the overpriced shore excursions, shuttles and transfers. We didn't have the outrageous and S L O W internet package. I couldn't complete the Celebrity survey for this cruise because we were also on the Sept 28th cruise. I went up 3 times to the ilounge to complete the survey. When the ilounge attendant was finally there, the internet was too slow for my device. They give you 30 minutes to complete the survey which is sent to your email. The attendant said I would need 3 hours to complete the survey. using their speed and my device. My biggest complaint is that they have NOTHING for back to back cruisers as far as excursions in Venice. I didn't book anything before we left home, because we were given no idea about when we would get our new sea pass. The shore excursion desk was absolutely NO HELP at all. This one man in particular was very spiteful. We needed to know the easiest way to get to San Marco (vaporetto at 15 euro roundtrip) and how to get skip the line tickets for the Doges Palace and the Basilica. This man would give me no information.Celebrity should definitely have pre planned excursions for the back to back cruisers. We would have enjoyed ourselves a lot better had we known how and where we were going and not worry about getting back to the ship on time. Getting on the Cruise Critic role call and planning private excursions is definitely the way to go. We were denied a meet and greet party because we did not have the 25 required minimum. Read Less

Pros - Crew is top notch - Food is good, even in the buffet where we prefer to eat as other venues often to slow for us - Despite being an older ship without newer ship amenities like real shower doors, the Constellation is well maintained Cons - In room entertainment is a huge embarrassment - * Most channels are devoted to promoting the cruise and the cruise line * Only three channels have entertainment programming - + One channel has British TV shows - reality, game, drama, comedy - some are stand alone episodes, some are random episodes from conntinuing dramas such as Downton Abbey - many quite boring + One channel has American TV shows - mostly failed sitcoms and detective shows - again many quite boring + One channel has the "movie of the day" - this movie, whether good or bad runs continuously all day - if we watch a bad movie while getting dressed, do we really want to see it again in the evening? * Holland America now offers On Demand in room entertainment with hundreds of different programs - they even offer a channel featuring movies filmed in the areas in which the ship is porting - while I have taken 6 Celebrity / Azamara cruises since 2014, I will now favor Holland America if itineraries and pricing is comparable - Despite having cruised with Celebrity six times in 3.5 years, we are still not at a loyalty level worthy of being invited to its free cocktail party for more traveled guests- this is fine, but I detest being asked to leave the best spot in the ship every evening for the private party. Reflections is the lounge on the top floor forward -the best place on the ship to have a glass of wine and watch the sea views. When 5:00 pm rolls around those of us in the prime seats are asked to move over to a side area while the most loyal guests have this party. I watched them several nights. Most, maybe all, spent their time visiting with other cruisers and not enjoying the sea views. Perhaps the party for this group could be held on the dance floor or on the side since views do not seems to be of interest to the attendees. Read Less

I have to say, the embarkation was extremely smooth, so this was a good start to our cruise. I do however feel that even though having a refit the ship still felt a bit dated. The cabin was clean, but again felt a bit dated. We have only cruised 6 times previously and have never taken in a show before. This cruise however we took in 5 shows and really enjoyed them. The staff were so so friendly. A big disappointment however was the food in the dining room. The food on the sun deck for breakfast and lunch was very nice. One thing which really annoyed me was the fact that some passengers were refusing to apply the hand gel when offered by the crew, and i passed on this to one of the head of the ship. From a personal perspective we were disappointed with the lack of guest making an effort to dress up for dinner(we did every night, we feel this adds to the occasion). I am well aware that the Company has to make money, but the price for even a bus trip to Rome was $90 or there about's, we ended up getting a bus at the port 19 Euros each return. as well as this internet prices were again about $332 for a 10 day cruise. The itinerary was quite unique and the time of year worked for our small group. The starting city of Venice was a must for our friends and we love Barcelona where the cruise was ending. The cabin was well situated and we had a huge balcony. The smallness of the ship made it easy to find our friends without always having to walk miles. Rich the cruise director was great. We travelled with 3 young adults who felt the crowd was a bit old, but that tends to happen when off peak and on longer cruises. They still had a fantastic time. We enjoyed trying Qsine and Tuscan Grill, where I personally got to have the best filet mignon I ever had. Check in was super fast at the port of Venice and disembarkation fairly smooth. The one issue we had a lot was errors on our bill more than once, which became quite irritating. Read Less

My friend is a travel agent who recommended this cruise. We booked this cruise with 3 other couples and had a very nice time. The food was very good as well as the service. The only complaint we had was that smoking was allowed on the pool deck. Due to the pool deck being enclosed the smoke tended to hang as well as pass through the doors into the enclosed area's. Also as this ship is smaller those travellers who used the upper pool deck to walk or run constantly ran into obstacles, as their was limited space for this activity. The cabin was comfortable with a nice sized bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and had a nice selection of pillows to choose from. Our room was a ocean-view on deck 3 which we found was perfect. As this cruise had a number of stops we did not miss having a balcony as we were up early each morning and off of the ship. Overall we would recommend this cruise. Read Less

I chose this cruise for it's great mix of ports of call; favorites - Sicily, Montenegro and Valenica. Least favorite - Ravenna; as much as I love byzantine mosaics, the town itself lacks the charm as a ship destination; I would recommend going to San Marino or Bologna which will take more transportation time and the additional cost involved. The inside stateroom cabin met my expectations. The cruise staff is professional and friendly. The food quality was what Royal Caribbean was like 7 years ago and was high. I wouldn't recommend the burger or fries that are out by the pool. Dining room was elegant and classy. From a casual dining perspective, there is not enough seating on the outside back of the ship and it is only available on deck 10. The entertainment on board was diverse and there was something for everybody. Lots of great shows and entertainers in the Celebrity theatre. Minuses: - The actual docking ports were never within walking distance to the town; this maybe unique to the destinations themselves, but you will have to either pay for a shuttle service or be on a shore excursion. - The price of Celebrity's shore excursions are high; this is what drives me to Cruise Critic in the first place to meet my fellow passengers and create our own excursion for a fraction of the price with a much smaller group. - Deck 5 has too much shopping space that reminds me of being in a department store for women and fine jewelry. - There is a video sceen up on deck 11; the overall number of films shown is limited to 1 a day. I think they could do a better job in showing more variety. - There is a kiosk on deck 3 that allows you to send a Celebrity greeting with a picture via email to your family and friends. This machine was operating fine, but none of the recipients received their greeting. Read Less

The itinerary was the biggest factor in choosing this cruise as it visited a number of ports in the Adriatic and Med that we had not been to before. We last cruised on the Constellation in 2006 since when it has been through a major refit including the addition of aqua class staterooms and facilities which we chose this time round. We joined in Venice having spent the 2 days prior exploring that wonderful city. The great thing about this was that having stayed on the central Piazza Roma it was only a very short walk (over the road) to the public transfer system which took us to the cruise port in just a few minutes. This made embarkation a particularly easy and comfortable exercise. Constellation carries c. 2,000 guests, so a medium sized ship which we prefer. Because of the refit/expansion that was undertaken, occasionally some of the layout is a bit confusing but after a couple of days we sorted out our bearings. The open air and indoor swimming pools are both salt water ones, the former unheated and the latter more of a spa pool. After getting used to the salt water aspect, I really enjoyed the outdoor pool which is of a decent enough length for swimming. Our aqua class cabin was comfortable and well designed albeit the bathroom felt a little cramped. Plenty of wardrobe space with sufficient hangers. Standard sized balcony just taking two recliners and small table. We took all of our breakfasts and dinner in Blu Restaurant which is exclusive to the Aqua cabins. Food had a slightly healthier eating aspect to it but plenty of choice and excellent quality. Service was excellent with a nice rapport built with our waiter team, sommelier etc. Probably the best overall entertainment package we have experienced in the theatre. Most of the guest artists were British, except for a husband and wife from Australia (separate and very different acts on different nights). The in house team were also very good. We didn't take any of the shore excursions which, as usual for Celebrity, are very expensive and we can find enough to do in port or with locally booked trips on our own. We also found it easier and less expensive to find taxis in most ports and it does frustarte me that when Celebrity is responsible for the shuttle service, they want to charge $15 or $20 when locally provided ones charge €7 or €8. Good itinerary and our favourites were Dubrovnik (overnight), Ravenna, Catania (Sicily) and Valencia. Read Less

Wasn't sure about choosing this ship because the reviews seemed mixed but ultimately the itinerary and dates were the best for our travel needs. I'm so glad we chose it and would definitely do so again! There were minor dislikes but overall an EXCELLENT experience. The entertainment in the ship lounges was terrific. The house band, the Cardinals, the acoustic duo. All wonderful. The main stage shows were hit and miss. Mostly misses. Although well done with strong vocals, production quality and the aerial act was great, the big productions suffered from terrible scripts mixed with popular music for a laughable combination. With all the talent in the music industry, this is one area where Celebrity could definitely use some major improvement. The show times were frustrating as we had late dining at 8:45 p.m. and the shows were scheduled for 10:30 p.m. With a table of 8, our dinner was often rushed and a couple of nights we just skipped dessert. Service in all areas was great, buffet options at Oceanview Cafe were very good, room service breakfast was a treat, and we loved the stops in Olympia, Corfu, two days in Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. Cruise sailed from Venice and we spent a couple of days there, too. Great cruise! Read Less

I would give this 3.5 stars if I could. We had very high expectations for this cruise as our cruise on the Equinox last year really set the bar quite high. My wife and I 32 and 37, respectively and consider ourselves “foodies” who enjoy some of the nicer things in life. Considering the majority of people on these cruises are older, I hope this review will help for the relatively younger people. Overall, I would recommend this cruise ship and cruise line as Celebrity does a great job generally. Here are the details: Ship: Definitely showing some age. The brown/tan with teal trim on our deck (9) didn’t even look modern for when the ship was built 17 years ago. It looked like 80s décor. A lot of windows looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. Our room had a fair amount of dust accumulating in various areas. But we went through with some disinfectant cloths and cleaned it up quickly. No need to complain on the first day for just some dust. Bed was comfortable, balcony was average. Be aware that the pool is on deck 10. We were on deck 9 and at about 6:30am I would start to hear kids running around above us. My wife is a deep sleeper and didn’t notice, but I heard a lot. Service: Drinks: Get ready to wait for your drinks. This is not a jab at the bartenders, but rather the process that Celebrity makes them follow. It literally takes them as long to key in what you’re drinking as it does for them to make your drinks. I asked a few bartenders about it and they all agreed that it’s very frustrating for both themselves and the guests. Most of us bought the premium drink package, so why force them to take 15-20 seconds to chronicle what we drink each day? It can really become quite a laborious process. Food: We upgraded to Aqua Class and we bought the Specialty Dining package with four dinners, so we never ate in the regular dining room (San Marco). The service and food in the Tuscan Grill and Qsuine was top notch, as was the food. The food on Celebrity is fantastic and is one of the best selling points for us. We don’t go on cruises to eat as much as possible and we try to stay as healthy as we can while also enjoying nicer dishes. This is definitely doable on this ship. Blu is the other option for Aqua Class and above. The first night we got there at 8pm and were told it would be 10-15 minutes to wait. 20 minutes later, the host told us it could be another 30 minutes. We ended up going upstairs to the Oceanview Café and getting stir fry (which was great!). No big deal, but we ate earlier than we would have liked when we went to Blu because of the wait later on. Rooms: Our room attendant, Martin was fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and he was super respectful when we wanted to sleep in or when we needed something. Entertainment: My wife and I used to work in the theatre industry in NYC so we have seen a lot. We realize this cruise ship is not a Broadway theater, so we don’t set our expectations that high. The cast on the ship is great and really put on a decent show. The special guests they bring on throughout the cruise are FANTASTIC. We were blown away at the quality of the magic, singing, piano playing and comedy. After the show, we elected to go to the lounge most nights where we met our favorite bartenders (Adi & Jose Javier) and a bunch of new friends. The first night, I asked the DJ for a request. His response was “I’m in the middle of my set” and then told me he had already played a bunch of what I was asking for. I was very surprised by this reaction as the entire point of being a DJ on a cruise ship is to cater to the guests’ musical tastes to the best of your ability. He didn’t do that very well. However, he was a good DJ and a lot of people stayed up LATE dancing. Ports of Call: Venice (extremely crowded in August, but that’s to be expected), Dubrovnik (also very crowded but super cool and we spent a night docked there), Mykonos (rent an ATV!), Athens (get ready for long lines at the Acropolis and drink water), Santorini (VERY long lines for the cable car and make sure you have Euros- we had to walk up 600 steps because the ATM on board wasn’t working), Katakolon (get off the ship and go see Olympia!). Overall: Our time on the Equinox last year was preferable. I realize it’s a newer ship, but it’s still a fact. It was cleaner and better laid out. It seemed like the crew generally were happier. The gym was three times larger. However, we will look back on this cruise fondly and all the small annoyances will go away with time. I just feel that when you are paying thousands of dollars per person for an international cruise, the things I’ve pointed out in this review should be addressed. Read Less
