We chose this cruise for the itinerary and we enjoy Celebrity. The ship is showing its’ age. It was kept very clean. The staff were helpful & friendly. In the buffet in the morning we enjoyed the beautiful voices of some of the staff. The buffet choices were plentiful breakfast & lunch. We had the same waiters each night for dinner and they were great. Food was very delicious and plentiful. They gave recommendations each evening and told us about their home cities. We enjoyed coffee in the Elite Lounge each morning. The entertainment wasn’t the best. We did especially enjoy the guest lecturer,”David Weimers”.We did not participate in the ship games. The gym was good and not busy first thing in the morning. Would liked a lower deck to walk around- only could go part way.We only had 1 tender port - Phuket, and all went smoothly. Disembarking was easy too. We chose to take our own luggage off. Read Less

We selected this cruise based on the interesting itinerary from Rome to Abu Dhabi, including a journey through the Suez Canal and a trip to Petra from Aqaba, Jordan. The ports were all a lot of fun and interesting. Several were easy enough to do on our own. Our time was limited in Catania and Muscat, so I wish we were there for more hours. The cruise was long with many sea days, but we enjoyed the different activities the Celebrity Constellation offered. I wish they would vary the timing of activities from day to day so we could do more. For instance, if you decide to participate in trivia, it's at the same time daily and often conflicts with several other things on the schedule. Also, the schedule is packed from 10am-3pm, but not much going on in the late afternoon. While the Constellation is an older ship, it didn't feel old and they've done a good job keeping it updated. We found our cabin comfortable and the ship easy to get around. The food in the Oceanview Cafe was great for breakfast and lunch, offering a wide variety. We also enjoyed access to ice cream and cookies in the afternoon. We had great service by a couple of different waiters in the main dining room (a few not so great servers). For the most part, the food was good, but not great. We had a few misses. The entertainment was predictable but enjoyable. The production cast and musicians were very good, and we liked the theme nights in the Reflections lounge in the late evening. Read Less

We chose this cruise due to the ports (Rome, Crete, 3 days Israel, Mykonos, Athens , Naples) and because we liked our cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette in January. This was my 15 cruise (Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Carnival, Holland America)and I believe the Constellation is my favorite ship so far. I enjoyed the easy layout and the general ambiance. It is not a party ship and in general I would say that the average age is 50+ and mostly well traveled cruisers but I'm looking to relax on a cruise. My favoite things about this ship: 1) The 3 story bow shaped window at the back of the Marco Polo dining room (fabulous views as we departed the ports) 2) The outside movie theatre. At the back of the ship deck 12 (go to 11th floor then walk upstairs) instead of being at the pool deck. Very nice comfortable lounge furniture. I was surprised with the sun out how well the movie still showed on the screen. 3) Theatre. Very nice size for this size ship, never had a problem finding a seat at either time frame. Nice mixture of entertainment. 4) The table/bar area at the back of the ship just beyond the buffet. Very seldom crowded, quiet place to eat and enjoy a mixture of covered and uncovered seating. 5) Very good ship's excursions and I'm not a great lover of ship's excursions in general but these were exceptional. 6) Many nice quiet nooks inside to sit and read or just converse with friends. This was our 26th cruise, so we speak from experience! We took the 11 night France, Spain, Italy cruise beginning and ending in Rome. The ship is smaller and very well maintained, meaning we were able to visit some of the smaller ports. New was the drink package offered...a third level, cheaper than classic and premium. Apparently only offered in the last few cruises. Not sure if they are being offered fleetwide. They were charging $500 each for the 11 night cruise. We declined this because we would be off the ship so many days...only 2 days at sea. Being elite level captains club members, however, we were given 3 free drinks at any bar on the ship between 5 and 7pm!! Unfortunately, the only problem was gale force winds near the end of the cruise. We were unable to visit the last 2 scheduled ports of call so spent two nights in a more sheltered port...not very calm here either. The gangway was closed several times due to safety issues, and on our last day we broke away from the dock and floated out into the harbours hitting the nearby Costa ship. The captain took great control and a couple of hours later we were pushed by several tugs (working in incredibly choppy waters) back to the dock These storms were all across northern and western Italy. So the Rome port was also closed. We were offered free bus service for the 5 hour drive to Rome airport, so boarded a bus at 230am with the help of many many ship staff. Read Less

We are a Canadian couple in our early 50's have done both cruising and all inclusive packages. This was our 20th cruise and 2nd with Celebrity. ( some back ground details so you understand this was not our first experience at travel.) We had chosen Celebrity as this was our second European journey with Celebrity. Love the size of the ships and the itineraries. We also landed a few perks that were nice incentives as well. Embarkation was smooth and quick in Venice. We did stay at an Airbnb for 3 days prior to tour around. Water taxis are easy to negotiate in Venice. Purchase a multi day pass and explore on and off. We water taxied from the airport to our Airbnb. Easy peasy. Just research in advance. We were on the ship in 20 mins of arrival at the port. Smooth, checked in and eating our lunch on board at 12:30 cabins were ready at 1:30 luggage at room by 2:30pm Muster drill at 3:45ish then off to the races for 10 amazing days. The ship is wonderful. My only complaint. Not even a complaint more of an observation was the main piazza. It really did not exist like in most ships there is a vast opening from the 3rd floor all the way up to the 7th. Seats all around so you can ppl watch and listen to entertainment. As this is an older ship the design, it is quint and areas are choppy. Like I said an observation and unique. Not a disappointment. The staff were friendly and polite at all times. They are hard working people miles away from their families for months on end to ensure that we as passengers have a pleasurable experience. I often get to know our waiters, they have wonderful stories. Food was excellent. Bar service never an issue. The Classic booze package was just perfect. House wines wonderful, from Tuscany, Chili, South Africa to name a few. Did not feel the pressure to upsell at all. Spirits were plentiful and mid range. Really unless you are a alcohol expert Classic is perfect. Cabin was well appointed. Balcony was perfect size, room steward was tentative. Our ports. 1. Koper Slovenia: itself is very small, so an hour or so is likely to be enough time to stroll then head out and explore. Ships dock opposite a lift which takes you up to town level. You can also walk its about 6mins. We took the public from Koper to Piran which is a really pretty town a little along the coast and the drive there and back has some scenery too. Regular city buses and inexpensive. Travel every 30 mins to and from Piran is a must. Go to the info centre and we booked a 7 Euro per person walking tour for 90 mins. It was excellent. Such a beautiful spot and have the narrative along the way was exceptional. Eat at a seaside restaurant. Excellent seafood. 2. Zadar Croatia: Free shuttle from the ship to town. Bus lets you off at the boardwalk first hit the The Sea Organs (http://vinovo.magnify.net/video/ZADAR-Morske-orgulje-Sea-Orga) Then continue on the board walk into old town. Explore I suggest you stay in the old part of the town, sit in a caffees, do some people watching, than change a spot and do the same. The church St. Donat and the treasury chamber are worth the visit inside, other than that Zadar is more an experience of strolling through the streets (like ST. Paul de Vence near Nice or Aix a Provance near Marsellies if you are familiar). 3. Dubrovnik Croatia. Having stayed there 6 yrs ago did not want to visit old town. That is amazing and walk to the bus terminal which is adjacent to the cruise terminal and busses travel to and from old town for cheap. .The ship charges 5 xs the cost for the same thing. We opted to visit sea-side town of Cavtat. Not a long bus ride but what a beautiful town. We just strolled along the waterside that borders the town. Swam in the Adriatic. 5 areas to sun yourself on a pier. rent chairs and relax for a couple of hours. A lot of nice café’s and places to sit as you walk. Hiking / walking paths easily marked worth strolling. What a great day and a must see this town. A ferry ride back to Dubrovnik or the bus. we opted for the bus as it brought us back to the terminal next to the ship. You can take Libertas #10 from the Gruz Harbor directly to Cavtat. Bus cost is 25 Kuna per person, no foreign currency. Take the small boat back to the old town, 4.Kotor Montenegro. Wake up early and watch the sights pulling into the harbor.Bay of Kotor surrounded by steep, mountains lined with historic buildings, churches, towers, docks, and marinas along the shore. It’s onthe list of the 25 most beautiful bays in the world. We tendered and walked the stairs 430 up the side of the mountain. The views amazing. Arrive early and do this. the hike up is aprox 50 mins. Not for the faint of heart. Bring water. The walk down was good but started to get crowed by fellow tourists. Spend the rest of the day in Old town getting lost in the streets and enjoy an Aperol Sprits and seafood. 5. Sea day..need I say more. Sleep in and enjoy the amenities of the ship. Message special at the spa for this day. FYI. Book it the evening before they promo that on the ship. 6 & 7. Malta Valetta. 2 days. purchase the hop on hop off pass for 2 days. 32.00 usa and it is charged to your room by the ship. Excellent cheap way to see the Island. We did the red line one day and the blue line the next. Spent time in the old town. they have 2 for 1 dinks on the main street. 2 aperol spritz for the price of one. Good way to finish an afternoon. We swam in the Mediterranean at the Grotto. 8. Sicily - Sircusa ( did not stop in Catania Italy due to berth availability.) Sircusa was an amazing surprise. Tender to the Island. Walk to the right. find the market what a great experience. The market with the local produce, spices, cheeses and the vibe of the shop keepers. Stoll old town and have a lunch. Walk the marina. Impressive yachts. 9. Naples. Having been before we opted for the Fast ferry to Capri. Beautiful, stunning and totally worth the 40min Ferry ride. Ferry from Naples to Capri departs at 8:35 / 9:10 Purchase at the ferry. Once on Capri immediately purchase ticket for Naples ( fills up fast) Capri harbour a taxi or trolly up to the town for glorious views - especially dizzying vertical views waaaaay down to sea- level from viewpoints on the edge of town. Capri there are a number of little restaurants and shops right by the docks Don't buy the ticket online ahead of time. When you get off the ship just go to the left and you can buy your ticket. Check the schedules though as you may not want a round trip with the ferry company. Some are faster then others. If you aren't going round trip with the same company just buy your ticket in Capri right there when you get there and you are set for your return. Be sure to do the chair lift, the views are amazing!!!!!!. We hiked the Arco Nature walk. totally worth the view. took us 25 mins of meandering through small walk ways with surprising views around each corner. Away from the crowds. It was fabulous. We had a great sea view lunch then back to the ship on the 2:50 Ferry gave us time to relax on the ship. 10. Rome. Having been before. Unfortunately high tailed it to the airport. aprox 50 mins from the port. Pre arrange a driver. Fellow travellers are congested at this port trying to arrange for transportation. If you choose to do Rome for a few days. It is a must. Book and Airbnb. Book tours through Viator. and take in the sights and food you will not be disappointed. This was an amazing journey. My apologies if this seemed long winded. These reviews do help me with journaling my travels. I found these tips to be of help for me while doing my research. I hope this will be of benefit to others. Celebrity will not disappoint. Bon voyage. Ciao Safe travels. Read Less

We were pleasantly surprised by the upgrade fairy at check-in moving us from an OV to a Veranda. This was our tenth cruise on an M-class ship and our fourth on Connie. As with most Celebrity crews, the hotel officers were visible and approachable throughout the ship, particularly in the evenings. The ship itself is in very good condition considering it has been at sea for 17 years. We are looking forward to the Edgification of the M-class ships as some of the furnishings are showing their age. With the exception of our room steward who needed reminders occasionally, we found the remainder of the crew excellent, particularly Santosa and his team in the MDR. We felt the food was very good and delivered hot each and every time. The menu selections were broad and tasty. Embarkation in Venice was a breeze. We disembarked at the older terminal (tent structure) in Civitavecchia and found it sufficient. Porters were readily available. We particular enjoy the entertainment on Celebrity and found both the cast shows and single entertainers very good. (This is one of the reasons we prefer X over HAL.) Read Less

We chose this cruise (10 night Adriatic) because of the itinerary, Venice, Koper, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Valletta, Catania and Rome. This was our first cruise with Celebrity, though not new to cruising, having sailed with several cruise lines previously. From start to finish our overall impression was understated excellence, professionalism and service. The Constellation is clearly an old ship, does not have the glitz like other ships but for us this was not an issue, quite the contrary. There was plenty of quality seating, even on the 'sea day' Use of the vast Thalassotherapy pool open to all guests without further cost and despite every cabin being taken there was no feeling of being the vessel being cramped. During the cruise the Master was notified that the Constellation could not berth at Catania, so overnight arrangements were made to tender in Siracusa. Free transport was laid on for those wishing to go to Catania. Having heard the comments from those who visited both it seems that consideration should be given to making Siracusa as the destiny, not Catania. A couple of issues, we chose to arrange flights and hotel stay ourselves, this saved £500 on the Celebrity quote. Celebrity charged $15 per overs on for port to town drop off, all the other cruise lines did this without cost, though charged for other things like premier seating. We found the cost of shore excursions exhorbitive and as such made our own arrangements. Tender to shore arrangements were poor, in Kotor the tender took 30 minutes. Despite somewhat lengthy queues waiting for tenders and preferential tendering for 'preferred guests', no seating was provided for disabled guests. As someone that uses walking aids I found the need for lengthy standing very hard. This was the only blot on what would have been a perfect cruise experience and needs addressing. In short, whilst we still book cruises for the itinerary, if we have the opportunity to sail with Celebrity again we would go without hesitation. Read Less

We had a great cruise and found no problems with Celebrity Constellation, despite comments we had read about it in earlier reviews. It wasn't tired or in need of a complete refurbishment (although we were advised that is to happen on 2020). We arrived late due to weather problems at Barcelona Airport. It meant we were almost last on the ship and didn't receive any Celebrity Welcome Aboard from any staff member and that was disappointing. The Cabin (8133) was Midship and port side. It was excellent and clean and Kevin kept it that way throughout the cruise. Was close to the Library and easy access to the lifts. Breakfast - we tried the Restaurant, OceanView, Solarium and then room service (for both sea days to avoid the crowds). We preferred OceanView. Lunch - we tried Master Grill, restaurant and OceanView. Oceanview was again our favourite even although it was very busy on occasions. Dinner - used two Speciality Restaurants and the main dining room. Tuscan Grille - was good with excellent service from the staff. Qsine - the food was absolutely excellent, although the portions were bigger than we had expected. The service did not add the the dining experience. We had to ask three times for a further glass of wine before we got it. The overall service was not warm or sincere and managed to get the coffee delivered ten minutes before the dessert arrived. Some improvements needed in this area. Main Dining Room - food was wonderful and could not be bettered. Service was inconsistent, cold, disinterested on occasions and yet on other times absolutely fine. Entertainment - we enjoyed it all - we missed Steve Womack which was annoying. Izzy and Moe were simply wonderful and had their own following throughout the cruise. What talent they have. We watched two films/movies on the outdoor deck. Great area to watch films/movies but their choice was awful. We watched McQueen and Ready Player One. Excursions - we enjoyed Mount Etna (except the bus journey and busyness) and Taormina, Sicily. The Walking Tour to Kotor, Montenegro was awful (we paid $88 for 45 mins inside churches) . It visited three churches and that was about it. The Waking Tour to Split was excellent. The Tenders to and from Kotor were entertaining due to the wind and spray. The Ship's Captain helpfully agreed that we could go ashore despite the local authorities saying it was not recommended. Good decision as wasn't all that rough or dangerous. We loved the cruise, the weather was superb, the ship was good with more than enough to do. So much of our disappointments were around the very inconsistent service from the staff. Some excellent and some quite simply dis-interested. Our biggest frustration was having to get a bus from the Post of Venice early in the morning to the airport and getting to the airport before 8.30am for a 12.50pm flight (which was delayed by an hour). Over 4 and a half hours (which ended up being five and a half hours) at the airport for a two and a half hour flight home! Just to get us off the ship early to allow them get it cleaned for the next cruise. We met passengers would arrived at the airport after 10.30pm for a 1.00pm flight. Very frustrating. Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary even though we prefer Celebrity typically anyway. It went from Barcelona to Valencia, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Catania, Kotor, Split and ended in Venice. There were 8 of us so it was a large group. We were in Barcelona two years ago and realized we did not give ourselves enough time to see it so we spent an extra two days there as well as in Venice. Both cities have so much to offer. Ship The service, food and ship were great. We saw some negative reviews about how dated the ship was and we did not see that at all. Was it a new ship? No. Was it clean and well maintained? Absolutely! We have been on over 10 cruises with Celebrity, Carnival and Royal Caribbean so I think we have a general idea of what to expect. It was a smaller ship and that was just fine with us. It had everything we needed and did not appear crowded except on sea days around the pool which is typical. The food and service was great both in the dining room and buffet. What impressed us was that they varied the menu in the buffet along with keeping the standard type of fare. The burgers and hot dogs on the pool deck were good but not grilled to order. I will take the Guy Fieri burgers offered on Carnival any day. The service throughout was very good. I need to give special recognition to Victor, the cabin steward, Rhys and Joao in the dining room and especially Roxanne who made me great cappuccinos every morning at the Cafe Bacio. Entertainment was good as well. Ports and Excursions: We had quite a few credits to use and while we usually book our excursions privately, we used our credits on three Celebrity excursions and all were great. Valencia was all right and just roamed the town. We took a ship excursion in Ibiza to the beach and had a great beach day. In Palma de Mallorca, having visited the city last time, we took a ship excursion to Soller. It was a bus ride to Soller with a short hour visit and then back on the antique train. That was a nice way to see a different part of the island and spend the day. We booked a wine tasting directly with Sicily 4 You which was very enjoyable. We also visited a bakery for some of the best cannoli we ever had. We used Sicily 4 You on our previous trip for another tour and they were so good, we went with them again. We booked directly with Tours by Milo for their All in One plus Perast tour in Montenegro which was a really nice way to see the country. Montenegro was really a great stop. We had a little time to visit the Old Town of Kotor. Unfortunately it was windy the day we visited and the tenders were delayed in getting us to the port. It was also due to the weather we were not able to see our Lady of the Rocks church or spend more time in Old Town. We booked a Celebrity excursion for Split that took us to Trogir and Diocletians palace. That was great excursion as well and highly recommended. In Venice was great and we roamed the city on our own but did purchase tickets for the Secret Tour for the Doge's Palace ahead of time. That was really good. All in all it was a great trip and experience. Read Less

We were concerned about a long sea journey at the start of a cruise so opted for this itinerary as it boarded in Barcelona. The ports of call all appealed, with many being our first visit. I had been recommended to Celebrity because of the service and friendliness of staff which DID NOT disappoint. Although only a deck 2 ocean view cabin it was extremely comfortable and surprisingly spacious. Dean ( our stateroom attendant) was very efficient and friendly and made us very welcome throughout. We dined mainly in the Main Restaurant and were lucky enough to have Jorge, Kumamoto and Elvin looking after us and they were truly amazing. We couldn’t ask for more attentive and genuine staff. Olga and Jacqueline at front desk of the main restaurant always greeted us with a warm welcome and again really made every night an experience. We only tried 1 speciality restaurant on our first cruise experience, Qsine, and although nice and quirky (and loads of food) we preferred the main restaurant. Entertainment was varied and plentiful and we loved the experience of the poolside ‘silent disco’. We also caught the new avengers film one evening which gave us a nice relaxing night. As this was our first cruise we were very impressed and we liked the intimency of a smaller ship - although some passengers said it needs the refurbishment in 2020 - as we had nothing to compare it to we were very pleased with the overall decor and standards. We chose the cruise because of the itinerary but also because we prefer to cruise with Celebrity. This was our first ime on a Millenium Class ship having sailed on Solstice class many times. The public rooms and other areas on Constellation were beautifully maintained and had been refurbished recently re carpets soft furnishings etc. Our cabin was comfortable, spacious, had new carpets, beds and bedding. The decor is dated, though functional. I am assuming this will be upgraded as part of the May 2020 upgrade "revolution".The shower area is spacious but I would prefer a glass shower door. Our only gripe was the slightly "stiff to open" balcony door. This was reported both on board and in the post cruise survey as "needing attention". Plenty of storage in the cabin, though no over-bed storage as on Solstice class and we could not get our suitcases under the bed ( the same suitcases fit under Solstice class beds). We put them in the wardrobe. We found the balconies were shorter, front to back than on Solstice. Our steward was pleasant and quietly efficient. He seemed to sense when we were out and magically refreshed the room to perfection again. Just what you want in a steward. We had chosen Select Dining in the San Marco ( Main) dining room. Select dining is on the lower floor, fixed dining on the upper floor, the opposite to Solstice class. We had also pre-booked a dining time, before boarding, so had no waiting time for a table in the evening. There were two desks on arrival, one for those with reservations, one for those without reservations. The dining room has a "colonial style" decor which we liked. The food and service was excellent at all times. Could not fault the food at all. We had an invite to dine in Qsine one evening with two senior members of staff, and had a better experience than our first time in Qsine on another ship, a couple of years ago. We were brought everything to sample, so it was quite special. The food was excellent, in particular the lamb chops and the "lava crab" . I am not a fan of the Ipad ordering idea.... an unnecessary gimmick. We enjoyed breakfasts of fresh fruit, smoked salmon , coffee etc...not forgetting in particular the yummy, warm mini almond croissants....in Tuscan Grill, which is midships on Constellation. We were impressed by the Rendezvous Bar which comprises a small stage area, dance floor with surrounding tables/seating areas. There is a bar at the rear of the lounge with bar seating. This we prefer to the Ensemble lounge arrangement on deck 5 Solstice class, which seems too much like a "corridor" . The entertainment changed a few times nightly in the Rendezvous Bar,and we thoroughly enjoyed solo artists, duos and small groups, Izzie & Mo, Ultraviolet to name just two. The bar service was entertaining and very efficient. We were spoilt with choice re entertainment but managed to attend two of the shows. Rietta Austin was excellent and had a wonderful vocal range. Paul Baya the cruise director is also a wonderful singer and his voice reminded me of Andrea Bocelli. Beautiful. We enjoyed two Celebrity organised tours. From Livorno...Florence by train on a Sunday was a success. A coach took us to the railway station and then a train whisked us comfortably into Florence. We had a tour guide, Angelika, who gave us a map and lots of tips, answered lots of questions on the train trip and said that we could join her on a walk through Florence's main sights, if we wished, leaving her at any point. This was really a "Florence on your own tour" so you could just do your own thing. This guided tour was a very pleasant unexpected extra. The 46 strong party dwindled as people drifted off but having never been to Florence before, we ( and about another 12 people) stayed with Angelika until reaching the Ponte Vecchio viewing area by the river. We then chose to wander and find somewhere on our own for lunch, which wasn't difficult. We relaxed with pasta and red wine and then gently meandered past the magnificent architecture back to the meeting point at the station. Had we wanted to go inside any of the buildings, the queues were long and it was a warm day. We were happy just taking in the atmosphere and marvelling at the buildings from the exterior. There were crowds but it was not as busy as we expected it to be. Our second excursion was to Carcasonne from Sete. This medieval town, reached by coach is wonderful. Not as we expected, as there is a fully functional small town within the fortress walls with hotels, shops, restaurants etc...but lots of history too. We had a good guide who pointed out things you would have missed and told stories which transported you back in time. We had plenty of time to wander on our own , visit the main citadel, have lunch etc. before meeting for the return journey. We encountered problems on the motorway on the way back...a traffic accident and extensive, bad traffic queues, but had no anxiety re arriving back late ( and we did) as we were on a Celebrity organised tour. Other than these two tours we explored on our own. We took the ship's tender (free) into Portofino and, as we had been before, we found and walked on part of the Ligurian way eventually rejoining a path by the road and arrived in Santa Margherita ( 4 miles away) at lunchtime, for more pasta and red wine...well, why not? We caught the frequent bus back. Tickets cold be obtained from the machine by the tourist office...3 Euros each. Villefranche, we tendered in and wandered round the town as this was our first visit ...but we did some research whilst there and it would have been very easy to catch a train to Nice or Monte Carlo. We have been to Monte Carlo twice before but never by train....maybe next time. Toulon , we decided to have a day on board, the ship docked at La Seyne sur Mer, across the bay from Toulon and a shuttle was offered for $20 each. Maybe it wasn't just another retail opportunity, and maybe next time we would go on a tour but we had a lovely view from the ship across the busy bay and gave it a miss this time. We do feel that if Celebrity choose to dock in places which necessitate a paid shuttle then they should bear this cost. The Ibiza shuttle was 10 Euros for a day pass each, the Pama de Majorca shutlle was 10 Euros return each Disembarkation day came too soon but was very well organised. Too soon we were on our way home. But...we had booked another cruise on board so something to look forward to. We would have no hesitation in booking another cruise to sail on Celebrity Constellation. Read Less

We chose this cruise as it was docking in places we would like to visit. We didnt have chance to actually visit Venice, but sailing out was a sight to remember. The ship, Celebrity Constellation was beautiful, the staff amazing and all the facilities were more than we expected. Our cabin, with balcony was roomy, plenty of storage and we enjoyed breakfast on the balcony bought to us on mornings we ordered it for-such a luxury. All meals were delicious, from breakfast, lunch at the grill and dinner in the evening with our two amazing waiters Clint and Michael, they were so attentive, even though they looked after several tables. Nothing was any bother and our meals were perfect. All staff were very polite and helpful, Ricia in the coffee lounge, with the amazing array of cakes and variety of coffees- we were very spoilt. The entertainment was first class and we looked forward to this each evening- very professional All staff provide such a wonderful service to all the guests and always have a smile. Docking at the ports and disembarking was straightforward, if you timed it right not long to disembark and embark - we were really grateful for the ice cold flannels on return too. We would definitely love to go again as we are now hooked after our first cruise and are already looking for one that will take in Barcelona for a day or so. We travelled with our friends and had a wonderful 9 days and nights seeing some lovely places and generally enjoying every minute. Thank you all so much . Read Less

Had an excellent cruise on the Constellation. Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Malta, and Sicily are beautiful. The best scenery ever! So glad we had an outside cabin as we were able to see the wonderful ports as we pulled in and out of them, starting with Venice. The most spectacular was Montenegro. Having breakfast on our balcony as we pulled into Kotor-can't beat that experience. We used the ship's shore excursions. We like to get out and see the countryside, so we chose those that go beyond the cities. All were informative, interesting, and well-organized with either a meal or snack and plenty of time on our own. The food was pretty good. I did not go hungry. I actually gained 10 pounds...We ate in the buffet and tried Tuscan Grille the first night at a discount and Qsine. Tuscan was good. Qsine the first time was fabulous. Decided to go again and unfortunately the second time it was not. The waiter makes a huge difference at Qsine. My favorite parts of this cruise were learning the history of the region with local guides, spending two days in Malta and spending quality time with my husband (as always). I can't wait for my next Celebrity cruise. Headed to Australia in 2020. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports. It was a wonderful experience. Our cabin steward was kind, caring, and attentive. A very hard worker and we appreciated his trustworthiness! The ship shows some signs of age, especially in the cabin bathrooms but it didn’t impede our enjoyment. Food was okay, not the best we have had but the staff all over the ship were great - especially in the kids club. The programming for kids was great. Our son, 10, loved it! He made friend with other children from all over the world and he couldn’t wait to go back every day. It gave us time to ourselves and him time to be a kid. Our least favorite poet was, sadly, Split. I so wanted it to be better than it was. Crowded and beyond hot. It was unbearable. The rest of the ports were awesome! Side note - we felt hiring private guides was better and less expensive that ship excursions. I’d recommend this cruise and ship. Go- have fun! Read Less

This was my first cruise and I absolutely loved it. I couldnt believe how effortless boarding the ship was, I've never seen such an efficient operation before, it was quite impressive. We ate at the main dining room most nights and were served by an amazing team, in particular our sommelier Ana was brillant, there was 11 of us in total some nights, 3 of us wanted anything with bubbbles, 2 preferred red and the rest different whites and not only did Ana's suggestions hit the spot, she remembered our choices and our names. Mayuresh was our waiter and he was also wonderful, I can't say enough about the 2 of them. The buffet was ok they had a good selection for breakfast and lunch, but dinner was just ok not as many options as I would've liked which is the main reason I enjoyed going to the dining room. The ship is in ok condition and I think it's being refurbished in the next year or 2, which will be great and I hope they consider 1 change, the smoking area is too close to the pingpong tables and one of the entries to the buffet. Trips ashore were easy to arrange, mostly sightseeing tours and a few adventure options as well. I would sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

BACKGROUND My DW and I are Diamond RCCL cruisers, we decided to give Celebrity a try to open up more itinerary choices. The fact that Celebrity gives us Elite status was another deciding factor. We have sailed smaller ships and mega ships before and are ok with either, understanding that we usually have to give up size for a more unique itinerary. We chose this Constellation 9 night cruise based on the Barcelona to Venice Mediterranean sailing that included Croatia and Montenegro. PRE-CRUISE Had no problems with the Celebrity website, the booking process, selection of meal times, tours, etc. I was able to set up my schedule exactly the way I wanted. Bought a couple of excursions. So far so good… I have to say that I was a bit dismayed with some of the recent Constellation reviews on Cruise Critic. A few of them described the ship as being “in major disrepair” and as being filthy. There were also reviews that complained about terrible service and rude staff members. As an experienced reader of reviews, I understand that opinions can vary widely. I also understood this ship wasn’t built yesterday. EMBARKATION (BARCELONA) Was a breeze. This time we opted for a later pier arrival (so that we could enjoy a few last hours of Barcelona) of around 2:30ish and we basically were able to walk on, go directly to our room, etc. We had priority boarding but really didn’t need it. We were able to buy some wine in the port store and carry it on with no issues. THE SHIP Obviously not a new ship, the Constellation does show some wear and tear. To describe it as being in “major disrepair” or “filthy” is simply ridiculous. Ship was certainly clean and we observed adequate ongoing cleaning activities. We spent most of our deck time in the solarium and there was always an attendant there cleaning and drying the floors from pool and spa splashes. Most of the deck chairs looked brand new. The carpeting didn’t even appear that worn to me. After reading those scathing reviews read pre-cruise, I was very pleased with the ship’s condition. Layout was also easy to learn. THE CABIN – 8002 We usually opt for a balcony but settled for an Oceanview (booked a Guarantee) in order to spend more on sightseeing, etc. We were assigned cabin 8002 which turned out to be a really oversized oceanview (due to the shape of the outside of the ship and the hallway, this cabin is like 30-40% longer than the standard oceanview. We really enjoyed the space!! The location of the cabin (extreme FWD) was not of any consequence regarding noise or movement on this sailing. Regarding condition/cleanliness – perhaps a little (and I mean a little) wear and tear, but very clean. We had no complaints about the cabin. Our Cabin Steward, Neil from India, was fantastic (best we’ve ever had on any cruise). Always a big plus when the Steward seeks you out on day one to both greet you and to find out if you have any questions/requests. DINING Always subjective, but here goes. We had Select Dining and I made reservations for dinners pre-cruise. We only really had an issue on night one when we waited in the reservation line for 30 minutes (behind a large group of suite guests with NO reservation that were trying to get multiple tables together, by the windows, etc, etc). IMO, the hostess really should have pulled this group aside to seat those in line WITH reservations. When we finally got to the hostess, she declared “you’re late for your reservation”, to which I replied “think it’s the other way around because we were here on time”. We were automatically seated at tables for two, which by the way, are like 6 inches from other tables for two. Really more like a table for four. We didn’t mind the closeness (we met some really great couples) but there is a bit of awkwardness because the food is coming at different times at each table of two - since the couples are seated at different times. On to the dining room food quality: overall, a bit better than RCCL. The prime rib was really good, as were the fish dishes. Loved having some new choices. Service in the dining room was very good overall, think we had one waiter on one night that was just average. No issues at all with wine and drink service either. We have had issues in the past on RCCL (getting timely drinks in the dining room), no issues on the Constellation. The Oceanview Café was also a positive experience for us. A big plus was that there were always open seats (which is not the case on the larger RCCL ships). I give the food quality and selection a slight edge over RCCL. We did not eat in any specialty restaurants. THE STAFF Our overall experience with Constellation staff members was excellent. I already mentioned our exemplary Cabin Steward. Many, many staff members called us by name (more so than any previous cruise). Of the several dining room teams that served us dinner, we only had one waiter that was “so-so”. The Captain’s Club Ambassador was very attentive during the evening happy hour. Our one interface with Guest Services (complaints about the really crappy internet) was handled to our satisfaction. The staff members in the Oceanview Café were very efficient, dirty plates were always quickly removed- pleasantly. I was also impressed with how organized the queues for excursions were handled by those staff members. I mentioned the slightly snooty Select Dining hostess -after the first night our interactions with her were fine. So, call me completely puzzled by those negative staff reviews I’d read pre-cruise….. CAPTAIN’S CLUB Certainly enjoyed the nightly cocktail hour(s). No drink coupons loaded on the card for this cruise, the cocktail crowd was always pretty small. Appetizers at the Elite happy hour were pretty weak, IMO the RCCL Diamond Lounge had better offerings. The free bags of laundry were fantastic. Also enjoyed the Elite breakfast. MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS BEDDING- we slept fine but the mattresses could definitely use an upgrade. Also, it appears Celebrity does not use that foam “crack filler” when beds are pushed together? INTERNET- Absolutely horrible on this cruise. We could hardly get into our email, forget about uploading more than one picture at a time. After complaining at Guest Services, we were sent to talk to the “specialist” in the IT Lounge. He admitted that on that cruise the bandwith was “not what they had hoped for”. We ended up getting a 50% refund which I thought was fair. INTERACTIVE TV- How about posting the dining room menus here? Also was able to view my daily schedule on the newer RCCL ships, missed that here…. FELLOW PASSENGERS- Maybe it was the itinerary, maybe it was Celebrity – not sure which, but as a whole, we experienced a great group of savvy travelers (with the exception of the guy grabbing the buffet food with his hands – there has to be one on every cruise). Average age was also younger than we expected. CONCLUSION We enjoyed our first Celebrity cruise and would not hesitate to consider this line in the future. We look at Celebrity as an extension of RCCL, the slightly better food and service being an extra perk. Really wish we still earned RCCL points for Celebrity sailings though!! Read Less

We embarked the ship around 12:00pm, and our rooms weren’t ready until 1:00pm however it did give us a chance to explore the ship & enjoy the food. On the first evening the restaurants were super busy - so i would recommend booking or turing up early. However we did manage to find a table at the Tuscan restaurant where the staff were very friendly and accomodating & gave us very generous portions! The rest of the nights we ate at the San Marco restaurant (where we had to book each evening) but it did mean that we had the same waiters each night & they got to know us very well. Our main waiter Santosa, was extremely friendly & gave us recommendations each night on what to eat. By the last couple of nights he knew exactly what we liked to drink (so he would pre-order our drinks for us) and what our favourites were on the menu. He also referred to me & my family as Miss, Sir and Madame. For me personally, the friendly & generous staff in this restaurant were what made the holiday. Again, the rooms were lovely & not dated (i was warey of this as other reviews did mention it). Our room steward was again very friendly & helpful, making our beds each day & changing the towels twice a day. My family & i went on three shore excursions which were good. We went to Rome, Venice & Pisa. The tour guides were excellent, and had a lot of information to offer. The tours were well organised (on celebrity’s behalf), especially if you didn’t have a tour booked you could easily get off and on the ship to explore the cities. The only negative i would have is that the on board facilities are minimal and they could have more to offer, for instance a bigger swimming pool - but you do know this when booking th cruise! Overall, i had an incredible holiday & would particularly like to highlight the amazing staff on the ship as their friendliness and services were above and beyond what i ever expected! Read Less

We were wanting to take a Mediterranean cruise and since I am a teacher, the summer months were the best for us. We compared other cruise lines but preferred the ports and the length of time in each port that the Celebrity Constellation had to offer. The ship is attractive, well designed and not too large. There were always places you go go for some quiet away time, if you wanted. The pools were fun and clean. We would also like to commend the Constellation on how efficiently they were able to board and disembark passengers. We dined each evening at Luminae. What a wonderful staff, they have there. Russell was so friendly and efficient as the maître de; seating us quickly, quietly seeing what needed to be done and doing it. Our waitress, Eliza was so friendly and caring. She made excellent recommendations and we looked forward to seeing her each evening. Ryan was super fast with the breads and serving. His smile was contagious! Putra offered excellent wine and drink choices and always greeted us with a smile! The other staff were just as friendly and worked just as hard as our group. If we could give a 6/5 we would for the Luminae staff! The same goes for the hard working and attentive staff in Michael’s Club! Always a nice place to relax and unwind. We went on a tour in Dubrovnik (Riviera Cruise with Old Town Highlights and CableCar.) Loved our cruise on the sailboat to Dubrovnik. The city is gorgeous and our guide, Anna was great. I know that the tour is said to be moderate, but in the summer heat walking up all those stairs to the cable car (and there are way more than 70 or 80 stairs) is quite a feat. Perhaps having minivans as an option to take guests to and from the cable car could be an option. One man carried another man’s wheelchair up and down the stairs and my mom and sister struggled after having hip surgery. The views from the top were splendid, but we were exhausted! Our next tour was in Santorini ( Pyrgos Village with Mezes and Wine). Loved the winery and views from it. The wines were delicious as were the mezes! Would love to go back on my own. Pyrgos was a quaint and lovely village. Shop owners were friendly and helpful. The walk to the top was hot but manageable. Our guide was lovely and animated and very informative. The cable car down from Fira had a huge line. It’s unfortunate that was the only way back to the ship. Other ports visited were Corfu - lots of shopping and I heard the beaches were wonderful. Mykonos was beautiful and very accessible. Easy to get to and from beaches via taxi or bus. Excellent shopping and food, too! Naples - booked a private tour to Pompeii since Celebrity’s were all booked. It was excellent. Naples was a wonderful port to shop. Mom has been to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast before and says it is also great. Almost need two days here! All in all, we had a fantastic time and would like to travel on Celebrity Constellation again! Read Less

Really enjoyed this short cruise from Barcelona to Venice as Part of a longer holiday in Spain and Italy. Had a balcony cabin on deck 7 which had been recently refurbished and was very nice comparing well with our Aqua Class cabin on Eclipse the previous year. The cabin steward was friendly and helpful as were all the crew we encountered. Having been spoilt by the Blu restaurant we did find the MDR a bit overwhelming but really enjoyed eating from the buffet in the Sunset Bar for several nights instead. We had a lovely meal in Tuscan and would go there again but didn’t really get the concept in Quisine so would probably not bother with that on future cruises. We enjoyed most of the ports we called at on this cruise except Genoa as it was a Monday and most of the tourist attractions were closed. The info on the ship didn’t make you aware of that so after a very hot walk standing at the entrance of things we could have visited on a different day we took the open top bus tour and then got back on the boat! We did the Vatican Behind the Scenes Tour run by Celebrity which was very good but included a meal in a hotel near by. Unfortunately we were not impressed with the, quality of the food or service which was slow and wasted an hour of our short time in the city. We were left feeling we had paid a lot of money for something that we could have got far cheaper and better by finding somewhere ourselves. Neither was it a traditional Italian meal in a local restaurant that celebrity suggests you will get. Overall though this was another great cruise and we would use celebrity again Read Less

This was our 2nd trip on this ship and the food was still amazing. It didn’t matter whether you ate in the buffet or main dining room the food was fantastic in both. Cabin was lovely with a nice balcony. Towels changed twice a day and cabin kept very clean and tidy by our steward. We travelled with another couple and our bookings were linked so we could eat together every evening. The service on the ship is brilliant and couldn’t fault it. The only thing that lets it down is the entertainment in the main showcase theatre, which is very mediocre. Having said that it wouldn’t stop me booking again with celebrity. The shore excursions are very expensive compared to other cruises we have been on and nothing that really appealed to us so didn’t book many. The pool staff need to keep kids out of areas where they shouldn’t be ie. the solarium. Read Less

This was our first cruise and from the outset the travel agent we arranged through assured us we were comingin at a high level, with the Celebrity experience recognised as one of the best. He was right - everything about this cruise was fantastic from start to finish. For months in advance I looked at every website I could find which carried information on the Constellation and published reviews. I tried to be as sensible as I could about those who posted negative reviews but have to admit to being a bit concerned about those that talked about a tired, old ship. In my honest opinion, and allowing for not having anything to judge by and accepting that some people may genuinely have had some issues that I am unaware of, this is a very unfair assessment. The ship was beautifully decorated and maintained. The staff from start to finish were friendly, helpful and attentive. The itinerary (which we picked the cruise for) was perfect and was made even better by the really lovely atmosphere on the ship. The food was exceptional and, while we stuck mainly to the Ocean View and San Marco, we did on one occasion (my birthday) take a meal on Sushi on Five. That was both fantastic and extremely reasonable for what we got - indeed the staff actually helped us select and in doing so made sure we did not over-order. Which takes me to comments about pushy arroaches to upgrade - not once in my experience. Somehow, and this is still unclear to me, the staff found out that I was celebrating a birthday and brought me a cake that they had prepared while we ate! All in all, absolutely perfect and I am hooked on both crusing generally and cruising with Celebrity in particular. A massive thanks to all at Celebrity! Read Less

We chose this cruise for a friends 50th Birthday. We stayed in Venice the night before and it was wonderful. Arriving at the ship on a water taxi was amazing and embarkation was very quick. We were on the ship with a drink in hand within 15 minutes. The sail out from Venice was simply stunning. I had read in other reviews the ship was looking tired however I did not find this, I found the ship clean and well laid out. The cabin was small but clean and well looked after. We were anytime dining and the food in the marco polo was very good and the service was very good and the service was quick. The longest we waited for a table was 30 mins however it is possible to book in advance. We were given a pager and went to have a wee cocktail while waiting. The food in the self service dining area was varied and very good. I particularly enjoyed the outside eating area. I did not go to many shows but the one I did go to was a beatles tribute which was very good however I felt it would have went down well in the reflections lounge. The activities around the pool especially on sea day were very entertaining. The parties on the deck were also very good especially the silent disco. The service was on the whole very good however I felt the pool bars could have done with a few more staff. The ports we went to were Dubrovnik which we spent a few hours wandering around the old walled city, there was a shuttle bus. We had a ship day in Corfu. Santorini was just beautiful however the queue was quite long to get on the cable car. Mykonos was my favourite, it is a beautiful island which we spent walking around the shops and then spent a few hours at the beach. When we got to Naples we decided to go to Pompeii, we got a taxi and the driver waited 2 hours for us. However that was not enough time. Next time I will go on a ships excursion which takes you by bus and gives you 4 hours to walk around. There is also a guided tour ships excursion. If doing it on your own I would advise buying a ticket from the ticket office at the port which sold tickets to Pompeii which would save half an hour waiting in a queue to get in. If taking the fast ferry to Capri I would advise buying a ticket for returning as soon as you arrive on the Island as they sell out quickly. The only day there was a wait to get off the ship was Santorini. All in all I absolutely loved my time on the Constellation and I loved all the places we went. I have already booked another cruise for next September for 11 nights on Celebrity Edge again going to the Amalfi Coast and the Greek Islands. I would highly recommend Celebrity Cruises. Read Less

We hadn't been on Connie since she was doing Caribbean cruises. We enjoyed the updates though it was a strange cruise to us. We enjoy the port intensive itineraries in Europe. Montenegro is a must return destination. Our experience with the crew is greatly improved from what we remembered. Only issue was that guests were permitted to skip the hand sanitizer when entering the buffet. Seems like a bad plan. Entertainment was odd to us. We normally go to a show every night plus a few in the alternate venues. Often there was only one show in the main theater and it was late like after 9pm. With many early starts that just doesn't work. Shows mustn't be well attended if they only schedule one. The few we stopped in on were below par in our opinion. We did have two tender ports and thought the crew did a good job keeping that moving. Some ships just seem to always have tender problems. Not this one. Beware the excursion to Krka Park. Must bring your passport which is a problem if you want to swim together. 45 minute stop for wandering, swimming and picture taking. 35 minute queue to the women's rest rooms. Must have Croatian currency to use the toilet. This is the only stop in Croatia and the ship does not carry Croatian currency. Men were seen "wandering off" while women were appealing to the attendant to accept euros. Luminae was excellent and the staff worked together like a very fine team. We were exceptionally well cared for. The cruise critic Meet and Greet was scheduled at 7pm so right during dinner. There had to be a better time to not limit attendance. Our room (SS2) was in good condition. Some obvious rusting out on the balcony but not bad for a 16 year old ship. I like the feel of this class as it never feels crowded. We never saw more than maybe ten people in Michaels Club. Joao was a great host. Arrival in Venice went very well. Celebrity was probably a half hour or more ahead of the scheduled departures and the authorities had plenty of people to keep things moving smoothly. All in all we had a great cruise. Read Less

Food and choice too, wish had also upgraded for fine dining as tour around kitchens gave a taste of the choice they have, however main dining room, with shared tables has great ambience. Back bar on level 10 has amazing service and definitely the place to sit and say goodbye to each port. Recommend always taking a drinks package. Well worth it along with gratuities paid in advance Enough time at all stops and time to enjoy at sea days with facilities. Mykanos was the stand out place, quaint and very Greek Santarini commercialised but beautiful views Dubrovnik clean and full of recent history and excellent local buses are very cheap and frequent from port side Local taxis in katakalon are very reasonable at 15euro pp to Olympus realisable and 20 mins Will definitely use constellation again and recommend to all Read Less

This cruise fit well into our month's stay in Italy after taking a TA to Civitavecchia. The itinerary was good and the views were stunning coming into some of the harbors. Our only complaint is the large fees to get into some of the towns since we were docked so far away. After paying a pretty penny for the cruise, having to shell out to get into town is annoying. The leadership and availability of the officers was outstanding! This being a smaller ship, my husband and I felt we truly got to know some of the officers and that was a treat. The crew was exceptional and every single person went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, well-fed (!) and had all we needed. This was the best cruise we have every taken. We felt very spoiled! We have never been too taken with entertainment on ships but several were excellent: Jane from England and the Barricade Boys. It isn't the talent of the ship's performers that is lacking but rather the material. Read Less
