We chose this cruise from London to Lisbon a segment of the complete cruise to Barcelona as a back up to our Scenic Eclipse Cruise which was cancelled due to the new ship having construction delays and us already having vacation time booked from work. We stayed in London a few days prior at the ship hotel Conrad which was a beautiful hotel in a great location walking distance to Buckingham Palace. The transfers went smoothly, and we were on the ship for a nice lunch on the terrace. The rooms were ready around 2pm. We had a veranda recently updated but you can still tell this is an older ship the furniture wood had lacquer peeling and looked tired, but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had two sinks and great shower with great water pressure they laid out the configuration with two beds but we had requested one, minor issues easily fixed by the great room staff . The crowd was on the older side we were in the minority being in late 40's early 50's most were in the 60's or older. There were some "younger" couples we met and some multi-generational families onboard. Gym was small but adequate in the back of the small spa/sauna. We did boot camp with the trainer which was a challenge but fun on a rocking ship! The restaurants were good Le Dame was amazing but a very small space and extra cover charge. The drinks were premium and all inclusive. The boutique was small but had nice items to shop. Internet was included and spotty at times but worked for basic emails etc. Casino had basic games with a small bar and friendly staff. Entertainment was basic cruise ship with a few singer dancers and a guitarist and pianist. Seems like most people went to bed after the show ! The ports were fun and we did excursions in all of them since most were new to us. Biking in France was a lot of fun! The excursions are extra and not included in cost like Regent which to date has been our top cruise line although this is a close second because of the staff and service! We got off in Lisbon and stayed there for a few days. What an amazing city! We picked our own hotel the One Palacio da Anunciada great location in Lisbon five star amazing breakfast and staff. Overall we were very satisfied with our first Silversea cruise. Read Less

Celebrating a birthday and an anniversary. We knew that Silversea would enable a trouble free voyage. Our Butler and Maid decorated our suite for the birthday/anniversary celbration with clever towel art and balloons. Our fridge was constantly restocked with our favorite beverages. Our every need was cared for (including some seasickness tablets on the occasion that they were needed. The food was simply amazing with the specialty restaurant La Dame serving on eof the best meals we have ever enjoyed. While we did not take part in the entertainment at night (being early to bed folks) we did enjoy the lectures. And the Bingo. And the Trivia contests. The dining options enabled us to enjoy what we wanted when we wanted it. And when the (free) WiFi went out on deck 4 and 5 we were presented with a $300 credit. A really fine gesture for a porblem that was not foreseeable. What can I say? It is Silversea.. Read Less

We prefer to cruise back from Europe rather than flying. We have been on Silversea for only four years, but it is our "go-to" cruise line. This trip fit in with our earlier plans: started with a week in Madrid in a rented apartment; then fly to Porto for an Ama Waterways cruise up and down the Douro River; then the high-speed train to Lisbon for a few days waiting to board the Whisper fro the crossing. As usual, the ship met or exceeded our expectations. The staff is wonderful and as repeat cruisers, we re-acquainted ourselves with many of them. It is such fun to walk into a bar on board and not have to order a drink. It just appears before you! The crew and the wait staff were also a welcoming sight. We have recommended Silversea to many of our friends and the feedback we get is always positive. Read Less

Before going on this cruise, I read several negative reviews that made me quite nervous. We had originally chosen silversea due to reviews of excellent service and dining. Then we read the reviews criticizing just those aspects. Well, it turned out our original hope was fully realized. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. We enjoy leisurely dining which is the style most available in the evenings when the buffet disappears; some may have felt it was too slow. However, after seeing how hard people tried to please us, I think if we had asked to have courses brought more quickly, they would have done so. The menu was varied each evening, and the ship has an "all day dining" menu that can be ordered in any restaurant venue if the daily choices don't appeal. This is also the way to get meals when restaurants are closed; the order will be served in your room or in any public venue (like the pool, panorama lounge, etc.) This allows a lot of flexibility although in a way different from many cruises that have buffets open more throughout the day. We found all the dining venues to be good, but particularly enjoyed lunch at LaTerrassa and the Main Dining Room in the evenings. Finally, we thought the Voices of Silversea, who provided several shows, were the most talented group we have seen on any cruise. The productions may not be as "big" as some larger ships, but the quality was higher. Read Less

Last year we took our first cruise on Silversea to Alaska. Since our experience last year was so enjoyable, we booked a Mediterranean cruise for this year. We weren't disappointed. The food, dining room service, cabin service, bartenders were great. We only went to the main dining room and La Terrazza. The previous cruise we tried the outside hot rock experience...which is when the passenger cooks their own steak or seafood. It looked like fun, but we prefer the chefs to cook for us! Most of the wines were good. Ports of call were beautiful. Massages were unbelievable, and I'm picky. Embarkation was flawless. Debarkation was even better...they are very organized with the luggage. We enjoy the smaller ships...no crowds anywhere! Gratuities were inclusive of our fare, which is nice. Alcohol is also included. Room service was excellent, always on time...I enjoyed Eggs Benedict almost every morning. All in all, it was a great time! Read Less

We have sailed with Silversea before and really loved it. This cruise was no different. Great Accommodations, Great Excursions, Awesome Crew and we love the fact that it's all inclusive. The captain and crew kept us up to date on all activities, embarking and disembarking procedures as well as up to date news regarding the cruise. The food was very good and the selections were great! The facilities on this cruise whether they were dining, exercising, using the library or anything else were always in clean, working order. The Reception Crew and Concierge Crew were always very helpful and informative and willing to go out of their way to accommodate your needs and requests. The excursions offered through Silversea were plentiful and covered everyone's wishes. We actually spent our Honeymoon on the Silver Whisper in 2005 on a Caribbean Cruise and even though I didn't think it could be done I think Silversea did make some slight adjustments and improvements. It was just a delightful cruise and vacation. Read Less

We selected this cruise because we wanted a 7-day cruise, roundtrip from Athens. SilverSea Silver Whisper was selected because of its size and amenities. We were able to explore Athens prior to boarding the ship. The embarkation process was excellent. It was much more organized than other cruises we have experienced. We found our cabin to be exactly as we expected. The bathroom was particularly nice and much larger than expected. Our Butler and housekeeper were delightful and professional. We were able to experienced all of the dining options on the ship. The French restaurant was particularly good. However, we found the quality of the food and the service to be excellent throughout the ship. All of the excursions were well organized. We thought that Santorini was way too crowded, particularly in the afternoon as we attempted to leave. All of the other ports and excursions were much more enjoyable. We highly recommend this cruise and look forward to sailing with SilverSeas again! Read Less

Because it was going to the Greek Islands we wanted to visit. Service onboard the ship was great. Our butler was most helpful. Wait staff in restaurant was wonderful! Food was very good. Two friends were I traveled with were vegetarian and there was a good selection on menu for them. Ship was very nice. There were a two young children on this cruise. I would not recommend this cruise for children, it is definitely an adult cruise! The parents did not look like they were having any fun trying to entertain 2 young children. Take a child centered cruise instead ...not this one! We did not partake of the evening entertainment except for the last night. We were pretty exhausted from the excursions every day and went to bed early. The only thing was the excursions were expensive. But I did not want to miss Santorini, Myconos, Delos, Kos, etc. that's what we were cruising to these islands to see. Overall, I highly recommend this cruise for adults, not children! Read Less

We chose this cruise by the ports of call. We arrived early morning in Barcelona and the cruise line representatives arranged for transportation and breakfast at a nearby hotel. Embarkation was quick and easy. Our top deck suite was lovely, spacious and immaculate. The huge walk in closet is a bonus. The food overall was quite good - I highly recommend dining at La Dame - with good selections of wine. But the best part of the cruise is the service. It is simply outstanding. Our butler, Marlon, could not have been more helpful and gracious. The wait staff are friendly and courteous. Just superb. We visited interesting ports of call and took advantage of shore excursions at each stop. Some of the tour guides are better than others but in the main we thoroughly enjoyed every experience. I travel internationally quite a bit on business and have pretty high standards, and would recommend the Silver Whisper with no reservations whatsoever. Read Less

the sliver sea company did a great job for our cruise. the suite on deck 9 was very roomy.linens and towels were terrific. our butler could not have been nicer. whenever we asked for something the answer was always- no problem . we liked the food best in the main dining room. we didnt like la terraza-. the grill had a clever concept where you cook your meal on a sizzling platter- i was fun. la dam was definitely worth the extra expense. it is very small and the food was outstanding. we went on two excursions with the cruise- one to gasson -in st trpez and then one excursion in alghero. both were good and reasonably priced. we did other excursions by doing my own research. we brought our luggage to the pier at 12:30 and were actually able to get our id . we then went on our tour and by the time we returned to the ship at 6:30 w were able to get into our room. being able to at least drop the luggage off was great. we were pleasantly surprised at how easy the embarkation and disembarkation were compared to a bigger ship. after this cruise we could never go back to a large ship. if you are gluten free be aware that the servers can help with the menu. there were a lot of options. if you like gf bakery items at breakfast the only have bead which was usually stale and also decent mini muffings. we did order gf french toast and pancakes which were almost inedible- the ship should carry gf pancake mix- we also tried the pizza- the kitchen did a decent job but i dont think they are skilled at cooking that even though the crust comes pre made- over all i think they tried to accommodate us but they could carry some packaged schar items. You do have to make reservations for restaurants early as the do fill up but no matter where you ate the gods was great and service was above and beyond. Everyone had a smile and would customize as necessary. Took 6 Adults and they all were in awe of how nice it was. Highly recommend. I chose this cruise based on itinerary, I had not sailed on Silversea before. I liked the Silver Whisper a lot. The staff was (mostly) fantastic, the ship was comfortable, and the food was excellent. Silversea really handles the detail work of embarkation and disembarkation well. The ship was full but never felt crowded, which surprised me. It was great to not have lines or waiting at meals or disembarking. I understand the ship is due for an overhaul in December, and I'm sure they will take care of some of the worn out areas I noticed (bathroom caulk, etc.) We ate dinners one time each at La Terrazza and The Grill. Eating outside was a very nice change from the Restaurant. Definitely reserve ahead via MySilversea! I only ate lunch once at the Grill, but it was very good and wished I had discovered the menu sooner. The vegetarian offerings were terrific. I always had several choices of entrees and starters. The cruise was very busy with a port each day, so I didn't spend much time hanging out around the ship or trying anything like the spa or workout facility. We stopped at Santorini, Marmaris (Turkey), Symi, Rhodes, Patmos, and Paros. Santorini was a zoo, even though we were there on a light day. I would not go back. The scenery was just as beautiful at our other stops. Many of these were new ports for the staff, and that was the one weak point of the cruise. The shore desk staff just didn't know much about each place or the excursions! I had done a lot of research before leaving and had some ideas of what I wanted to see, but it would have been helpful to have more information available on board. They did have reps from the local tourism office board the ship as soon as possible each morning, which was enormously helpful. They had maps and information about taxis, etc. They should also keep a copy of a Fodors or other travel guide for passengers to peruse. In Athens, we booked our own hotel (the Athens Was-excellent boutique hotel near the Acropolis) and they arranged our taxi to the port. Very easy, so no need for Silversea's arrangements. Read Less

If I had wanted wine, they would have supplied. The closet was ample for two people, with drawers and hangers. The bathroom contained both a tub and shower and we could choose among several options which soaps and shampoos they would stock. My wife was impressed with the room and its amenities. The room included a vanity and mirror so she would apply make up if was using the shower, etc. We were on a wellness cruise so I used the fitness center which included weight machines, free weights, several elliptical and bikes. There were also saunas and steam rooms and changing rooms, as well as a pool and outside hot tub. The food was fantastic. We had in room breakfast every day and used their buffet lunches with dinners with our group at The Restaurant. The food and service was excellent. The staff was very well trained and apparently this ship is very well managed. Exceeded our expectations. Read Less

The food was amazing and all our waiters were quite efficient as well as entertaining. The ports were places we never dreamed of seeing and experiencing. We would definitely recommend the Silver Seas. The only comment on the negative side would be that our ship did not have a gift shop for sundry items and logo wear from Silver Seas. The gifts shop on board carried lovely specialized gifts and apparell. We particularly enjoyed the two shows that were scheduled earlier in the evening (6:45 pm). We found it difficult to stay up for show at 10pm after having such wonderful dinners. Our excursions took us to the places we really wanted to see. This was one of many wonderful cruises on Silversea but by far the longest at 73 days. This was part of this years World Cruise. I have high praise and a 10 for everything. Getting on and off the ship was very smooth. The ship needs new carpets and some improvements here and there but nothing major. Dining was easy. Reservations were easy to get and we were always acomodated. The poolside luncheon menu is good but for such a long stay could use some new items , perhaps a weekly special sandwich - minor point. Entertainment and activities could fill up your entire day if that is what you wanted. On board bridge teachers as well as "arts and crafts" and language classes abound. The pool deck was superb with service like no other for those that enjoy the outside on sea days. Jogging deck was always ready even after some heavy downpours. The gym is small but it is built in and I don't know how that could be improved. On board personal trainer was one of the best I have experienced in over 500 days on SS. Ports were extensive ranging from the relative tranquility of Hawaii and the Society Islands to the kaleidoscopic experiences in Indonesia and Malaysia. The beauty of the Philippine Islands took me by surprise. There was a wonderful tour there which took me snorkeling and swimming. A treat for the senses. I would do this again in a heart beat. The primary reason we chose this cruise was the time of year and the number of days sailing. Also, I wanted to go through the Panama Canal. We were on the Silver Spirit several times, but this year we really liked the itinerary of the Silver Whisper. Overall the cruise was amazing. We loved the size of the ship. My fiancé came aboard just getting over major surgery for a dislocated ankle and a broken foot. Our cabin was in a great location and it was very easy for him to get around. We met the most lovely people. The staff was great! We love the choice of restaurants and overall the food was excellent. The quality of wines that are inclusive were pretty good as was the champagne. I did not care for the lectures given on this particular cruise. We liked our cabin except for the positioning of the TV which was on an angle. It wasn't as easy viewing the TV as it was on the Silver Spirit because it wasn't in front of us. We couldn't use the remote from our bed where we preferred to watch TV. We were disappointed that we had to pay for the Internet. $495 was a lot to pay and we needed the Internet because my fiancé worked from the ship. Last year sailing on Silver Spirit the Internet was included. We did not take any excursions which was fine, sometimes we just prefer staying on the ship. The pool and restaurant crew are the best! This voyage only had a few children and they were very well behaved. We were hoping that there wouldn't be any children on board, but the ones that were, were totally fine! There was a lot of activities, but we didn't participate in many. I loved the Champagne tasting! We have already signed up for our next cruise. We don't understand why some cruises are Venetian and get the additional 5%, whereas the one we just signed up on is not a Venetian sailing? It doesn't make any sense why some are and some are not. Because the cruise was only 3 days, we did not participate in any of the shore excursions. There is plenty to do onboard and we also had free wi-fi. I had my own Ipad along and enjoyed using it onboard. The weather was perfect and the seas were calm the whole time period. Disembarkation was a very smooth process and we were on our way home by 8:30am. We are, of course, Venetian Society members and will continue to sail with Silversea in the future. We were there for purely for pleasure; getting pampered with superior service. The staff is superb and eager to please; this certainly makes up for a few minor things that were less than perfect. There appear to be small areas that suggest a management drive to reduce the cost of operating. Examples include (a) a very narrow selection of beer options (without paying extra) (b) nightly show room entertainment limited to a group six singers (who were quite talented) (c) enrichment was limited to one lecturer. Other minor distractions were the nightly menu in the main dining room does not provide information for guests to know that there are "anytime" options always available. The merchandise in the "boutique" is very narrow and "pricey"; there used to be some affordable interesting items. The evening menu in La Terraza is continuing to be strictly Italian cuisine; it would be nice if Silversea reverted to the style of the early days when the nightly menu's were varied and we could experience different styles of food. As is the case for most cruise lines, the shore excursions are generally overpriced. Read Less

My wife, son and I booked this cruise to celebrate my 50th birthday and traveled in suites 702/704. We are frequent Silversea cruisers and we actually hit our 100th day during this voyage. All I can say is that Silversea is still a top-notch luxury cruise vacation. I know many people may not be happy as a tropical storm forced us to miss 4 of the ports (Madeleine Islands, Portland, Boston, Newport) we were scheduled to go to, but I appreciate the focus on our safety. Now for the finer details... Our suite was beautiful and our suite attendant, Ravin, was excellent! we had breakfast every morning in our suite and the food and presentation was always stellar. The entire crew and staff were truly wonderful and should be recognized for their hospitality and friendliness. I do want to highlight the cruise director Vicky who is refreshing and the best cruise director we've had on SS. We appreciate her down to earth and funny disposition as we've had some who were a bit stuffy. We also loved Oliver who is both the bartender and entertainer-- he is truly amazing and made our cruise more enjoyable!! The food and entertainment were quite good and a "shout out" to Nicolas, the F&B manager, who was able to have the pastry chef make me some rum raisin ice cream as it has been removed from the standard ice cream selections. There are additional staff that should be highlighted but there are too many for this post. Only 2 pieces of constructive feedback. There were 2 cooking demonstrations but we were told there was a technological issue that did not allow the demo to be filmed and shown on the screens as customary. Please try to fix this and keep doing these demos as they are great! The other feedback I would give is that Silversea should consider how to relax the formal approach that still exists. Your younger clientele (and some older too) do not want to dress up during their vacation. I noticed this on formal nights when the dining room was half full and in talking to fellow passengers. I know there must be a real struggle but I also believe there might be a solution. Perhaps, on formal nights you could open the dining room early and have it be less formal from 6-8 so those of us who want to just throw a blazer on can go dine early and then hit the bar/casino. Those who want to don their tuxedos/gowns can then take over after 8. Just a thought (and i know many formal folks will disagree) but I am sure there are other options too. Please consider! Overall a great cruise! I highly recommend! Read Less
