The Silver Whisper is a small luxury ship. It is very well-maintained and kept spotless by the crew. The dining was particularly noteworthy. One of our meals in the main dining room was regarded by a group of experienced travelers as one of the best meals we have had anywhere in the world, and our meals in La Terazza featured pasta that rivals that found anywhere. The sommelier was knowledgeable, helpful, and personable. Our butler and maid were both exceptionally friendly and professional. If I have a complaint it is that the service in the bar, lounge, and pool deck was inconsistent. Sometimes it was perfect--fast and friendly--but other times you waited a bit to be served. It seemed to depend on which server was on duty. Another small quibble is that the liquor selection is a notch below that found on other cruise lines (mid-shelf rather than top shelf--for example, Tanqueray gin, but not Hendricks). For such a small ship the entertainment was surprisingly good. Overall I highly recommend this cruise. Read Less

We wanted to visit countries we had not been to before. We especially wanted to see Saint Petersburg and Stockholm. They did not disappoint and were fascinating. We had previously been on a Seabourn cruise and were told Silversea was comparable. I would give a slight edge to Silversea. The Silver Whisper is a little dated, but overall very comfortable and just the right size for us. The suite was excellent, and our butler, RJ, was very good. We were told the butler would offer to unpack our bags, but he never did. Overall, he was prompt, professional and very nice. The food was overall very good. Breakfast and lunch were excellent. Dinner was average to above average. We were very impressed with the ease and speed of the embarkation process and leaving the ship on the last day. The staff was engaging, courteous and very professional. The preferred docking locations, especially in Saint Petersburg, were a plus. Read Less

We chose Silver Sea because of the cruise ports, small ship, luxury accommodations, reputation for service, recommendation of travel agent and positive comments from friends. The voyage was a very positive experience and we were skeptical that cruising was for us. We are now thinking about our next cruise. Another advantage was meeting a number of wonderful people and making new friends. The staff was wonderful and was responsive to all our requests. Tour excursions were all good with the possible exception of the group tour in Tallinn. That could have been better organized. Our private tours organized by Silver Sea in St. Petersburg were a wonderful experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and was very personable. Probably the only negative was the wifi system. It was free at our suite level but one had log in every hourwhich was a pain. Additionally, the wifi only allowed one device hooked into the system which did not allow photo sharing between my iPhone and iPad. These are very small negatives on what was a wonderful experience. We would use Silver Sea again. Read Less

Small and Luxury ship. Very personalized for passengers and well organized crew. Very good food in main restaurant, we could not get reservation at Champaign Restaurant, Our experience with the quality of fish menu at La Trezza restaurant was not good. Otherwise, there is nothing bad to say about food and drinks, specially breakfast. Entertainment was perfect as well, very nice and talented silversea voice. As far as visiting cities, after being spoiled in St. Petersburg, I guess Tallin did not have too much to offer. Very well selected tour guides in St. Petersburg and good local restaurants as well. Cabin butler and maid, both were very well trained and professional. We couldn't wait for afternoon tea and beautiful piano music, relaxing. And of course, last but not least, Cruise Director, (Vicky) was perfect and well in charge. Her last night's show " Ship Happens" was out of this world, she did a marvelous job. We had a small group that wanted to travel and see other sites on this planet. We didn't want a large cruise ship and but still wanted to be treated well and enjoy all aspects of travel. This trip was wonderful. the smaller, but more elegant experience was just what we wanted. Everyone on the crew was outstanding and had two things in mind. A safe, pleasurable cruise and the ability to make the passengers as comfortable and happy as possible. It was hard to think of ways to make it better but i think a better explanation of how the media system works would have been helpful. Also, since we were in Russia, i was looking forward to a Moscow Mule, but you didn't stock any Ginger Beer. It wasn't a big deal, but you might think of it in the future. By the way, I loved Talinn. It was a great small place to look around with a lot of history. Thank you so much for catering to our every need. Read Less

Absolutely loved our inaugural cruise on Silver Seas in August 2016 to Alaska, so chose this Baltic cruise without looking at any other cruise line. We wanted to visit the Northern Europe cities best accessible by a ship, so we invited a few friends to join us and off we went, and IT WAS BEYOND FANTASTIC. Crew-excellent; Guestroom-spacious and clean and comfortable; Entertainment-perfect for a small ship; Logistics-impeccably executed; Captain Luigi--so lovable; and the Food and Kitchen---amazing...no, that is inadequate, how about going the extra mile to accommodate every known food need and beyond, and everything being incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. . I am so so happy with Silver Seas! So, if yo are a happy travlerer seeking the best life can offer, this is for you. My only footnote: the private night at the Hermitage, closed to the public, wit just a few dozen SS guests on a private tour and orchestra concert, should be better emphasized; we attended and it was the highlight of our trip, but so many others barely knew about it----perhaps the ship ought to include this as part of the St Petersburg programming for all guests and serve late night dinner back on the ship. Yes, that spectacular..... And maybe a shorter day in Helsinki which is underwhelming and more time in Tallinn which is a great stop! THANK YOU FOR AN INCREDIBLE VACATION. WORTH EVERY PENNY! I was excited at the chance to travel with Silversea as a single with a more than fair 25% upcharge. i'd heard many good things about the line from friends and my topnotch travel agent. I was not disappointed at all. The size of the Silver Whisper is perfect for a week or so...not to large, not too small...just right! From the transfer in London to the ship in Southhampton, through the voyage and disembarking in Copenhagen all was handled promptly, professionally and perfectly. The staff were caring, the food and wine plentiful, the entertainment first rate...just about all you might want on a cruise. The excursions I booked were handled by excellent guides who were knowledgable and fluent in English. The buses were clean and had good AC which was important since it was hot quite a bit of the time. I've traveled many other lines but I cannot remember a better run operation. I was most pleased with my suite and butler. I felt pampered and special as I am sure did all the other guests. Can't wait for the next sailing! Read Less

We had read about the small ship experience. Cannot tolerate large groups of people in a small area. Silver Seas was perfect in all respects. Great service, great crew, great ship, fantastic dining, beautiful and well planned excursions. Our Cruise director, Ms Vicki Van Tassel was the best. She made the trip very, very special. We had 380 passengers just like us. We met wonderful friends who we know will be in our lives for years to come. A real bonus. The all inclusive aspect made the day. Our suite and accommodations were exemplary. Our butler was there for anything we desired. Will cruise Silver Seas again and again. The price was higher than many cruises. The value was terrific. We got much more than what we paid. That is good value. A bonus: the entertainment was very special. Such talent was not anticipated on a small ship. The singers and dancers were fantastic. Read Less

Needed to be in Denmark, so we we did this cruise first. My travel companion had been on other silverseas cruises so she really built it up, and we were both a bit let down. The ship seemed a bit old, but it was comfortable. My biggest issue with this entire cruise is that the staff literally didn't' seem to understand our needs. By the last day, the staff was understanding us, but it was too bad it took that long for them to figure us out. I also had an issue with the food... and the service at the main restaurant was so slow. In general the staff wasn't hussling at all, just taking their time, and we would wait and wait. The drip coffee was really bad, so we had to have lattes and then it would take about 10 minutes to get. The food was good, but reminded me of a local chain restaurant. We did eat at the Relais and Chateau restaurant two nights which was better. We chose to eat in the cities we were visiting whenever possible. We did love the clothing and jewelry on the ship and ended up purchasing quite a bit of both! The bar tender at the main bar was also excellent, as was the barista at the panorama coffee bar. The in room movie selection was also very good. We did discover that we love Hamburg and Amsterdam which surprised us! The tours were efficient but typical cruise tours which wasn't surprising. I was expecting a very luxurious experience, and it seemed like a Celebrity cruise. Had my travel partner not talked it up so much i would have been more pleased. It was a good value, and we did have a nice time. If i sail again, i would like to go on a newer ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise due to the timing (mid June before the big summer crowds), the length (seven days), the ports of call, the offer associated with it (airfare), and the fact that we love sailing on Silversea. Their ships feel like home now, the staff is ultra professional yet friendly, and the guests are always a pleasure to meet. Although not specifically a themed cruise, the itinerary, the excursion options, the entertainment, the lectures, the amenities, all would please seniors, families, couples, honeymooners, people of all nationalities. We had a bit of each and everyone seems to have enjoyed it, as you could overhear raves at dinner, after shows, during excursions.... This is a fantastic way to get a taste of Northen European cities of note and charm - Southampton, Brugge/Ghent, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Skane, Copenhagen. Regarding Silversea cruising in general, we could not recommend it enough. The size of the vessels makes it more personalized both because you get to interact with other guest more easily, if you want, and you receive great service from all the staff who quickly recognize and greet you by name. And, it is such a treat to travel worry-free as these sailings are always all-inclusive so there is no concern about over spending on drinks or wondering about appropriate tipping or anything of the sort. The icing on the cake: the cuisine is superb. If you try Silversea once, you, like us, will keep on coming back. Antarctica is next! Read Less

The opportunity to try Silversea was one not to miss, so we joined Silver Whisper in Southampton for what turned out to be a superb mini cruise. Embarkation was speedy, though a little badly organised, check in being are reception desk with only 2 staff members on duty . A small serve of champagne was offered, and we were advised that lunch was being served, and that our suite was not yet ready. We enjoyed a delightful lunch in the very pleasant terrace cafe, served with a choice of wines. At the promised time we were shown to our Vista suite, which was lovely, spacious, comfortable and well appointed with comfortable sofa and armchair, a rise and fall table decent size desk and a cocktail cabinet. Our butler, the charming Kanwar , introduced himself and told us of the suite's features, offering a choice of quality toiletries and advising us of the pillow menu.It was slightly disappointing to note that our preferred pure down pillows were not on offer. He asked for our preferences to stock the minibar, bringing a bottle of champagne and choice of beers and soft drinks. The twin sink marble bathroom was a delight, roomy and with a decent, deep full size tub. The separate shower was simple to operate and had amazingly good water pressure. We explored the ships modest features, finding a lovely pool deck surrounded by sun beds and a few round Balinese style beds at one end. Above was a jogging track with blue Astro turf decking, but we were glad to note that all other decks had teak decking which was in the process of being renovated. There were bars tucked into corners, staffed by cheerful bar staff and a team of servers who circulated constantly ready to serve guest whatever they wished. We particularly admired the large observation lounge and found a large central bar with every kind of drink on offer. There was a little used humidor room, a pleasant well stocked library and spa and beauty therapy specialist facilities tucked to one end of a higher deck. We tried to sample each dining venue on our short cruise, booking beforehand where possible. On our first evening we chose the main dining room which proved a delight, with excellent service and a very good menu. We thoroughly enjoyed an evening in La Terrazza serving delicious freshly made pasta dishes and a wide range of Italian influenced dishes. The casual Grill , with a hot stone cooking menu was great fun, especially on a warm evening , with quality cuts of meat , huge prawns and lots of tempting accompaniments. It was a joy each evening to be offered choices of well chosen wines, and preferred alternatives were always available . On our final night we dined in the delightful Le Champagne, a Relais etChateaux restaurant, a wonderful fine dining experience, with a set, multi course French menu which we'd wisely pre-booked beforehand. This was the only restaurant with a charge, a modest $40 cover charge, worth every cent. We'd anticipated limited entertainment, as the ship is small, and were delighted to enjoy the fine group of young singers who all had really good voices, and when the ship was docked in Hamburg we were delighted to be entertained by two wonderful ballet dancers from the Ballet de Paris and Ballet de Roma . It was a fantastic time Starting from the departure city, although we didn´t stay in Southampton, we managed to have three lovely days in London. The embarkation went smoothly with a very kind help of everyone, from the time I stepped out of the taxi in the port until arriving my cabin. The ship as usual beautiful and clean. The cabin ready for us with champagne and fruits. It was a very confortable cabin. The dining is the maximum point in the cruise. Fantastic food and wine. Everything very tasty. We can choose from Japanese food to Pizzas. Lovely cheeses and desserts. Another high point of Silver Sea is the Service. The butler always giving the maximum attention and all the staff in the restaurants were very kind. The shore excursions were as usual very quick and not very much time to stop at the points of interest. Resuming it was definitely one of the best ship cruise I did with my Family and I do recommend. We chose this cruise because of the date it was sailing, which may sound strange, but I had planned to attend an event immediately prior to this cruise. Well, Silver Sea does not disappoint! We were pampered by our butler, Ricardo and his assistant Neale, who were just amazing. Our cabin was just lovely, spacious and extremely well planned. The bed and bedding were simply fabulous and the bath towels were hard to leave behind, but we did. I can't say enough good things about the staff throughout, but especially the waiters and the managers of the restaurants. Upon arriving, we met with the maître d' and the head chef to discuss our allergies. Several other voyagers were also asked to meet privately with them to share their dietary concerns. After that, Silver Sea always kept track of who was dining where so that your individual allergy profile followed you around the ship. Our favorite place to dine was The Grill. Although there was more sophisticated food elsewhere on board, Milos ran a really fun spot! The smiles and caring attitude were genuine and made you feel welcome there all the time. His staff was so attentive that it was hard to come home. In the evening, you can grill your own steak and seafood right at your table. Do not pass up an opportunity to eat pasta, made daily on board by a really special Italian chef. OMG. Memories of their lasagna will be hard to forget! When you schedule your voyage, be sure to include one night at least at La Terrazza Restaurant. You can eat pasta and continental cuisine at the main restaurant, as well. We were a bit disappointed in the initial wine offerings at each meal and didn't realize that we could just request a different wine until our last night on board. We should have know that, but had forgotten. Last, but not least, the entertainment on the Silver Whisper was great. They had a group of 6 young singers whose talents were on display almost every night. We just loved them! There also were 2 piano players, one at each bar, a fabulous trio/combo that played at different venues throughout the ship, too. They were really wonderful as well. There were two ballet performances while we were on board. They were a nice addition. As far as the excursions that we took, I'd say that they were okay, but not fabulous. A couple of the guides were just not that nice to us, and we were feeling like they didn't get it that their jobs were working with foreigners and the public. Read Less

The ship and the crew were wonderful. As to the crew, not only were they a delight to talk to and be around, it seemed clear that they enjoyed their positions on board as well. All were very friendly and we enjoyed discussing their various countries of origin as well as their work on board the ship. The food was like most cruises - very plentiful. Although LaTerra was exceptional (the menu actually being a little overwhelming), the rest of the food service was your average cruise food. Certainly the food was well prepared and varied but we did not think any of it outstanding other than LaTerra. Eating at The Grill and cooking your own was interesting for a night but not anything more than that. We thought our room spacious, comfortable and maintained impeccably by our butler and steward. We would have liked to have some seating area on the shared balcony so we could sit out and enjoy the trip and socialize with others. We specifically chose a shared balcony room in hopes of sharing conversations with our neighbors but it really was not set up for that type of relaxation. The fitness room was sufficient but half the cardio machines did not work correctly which was irritating. Read Less

I have always liked the Whisper but will never take a segment of a world cruise again. In this segment, the majority of the passengers had been on this cruise since January and had established little groups to dine, drink and socialize thus the new passengers had to find other new passengers in order to have a good time. This segment from Dubai to Athens had fewer new passengers due to the possible danger passing Yemen and other countries in the news but the tours to Luxor, Petra and Gisa were very worthwhile and Silversea takes precautions and has never had a threatening incident. The familiar crew on the Whisper helped make the trip more enjoyable. On the next segment from Athens to Monte Carlo, it was reported that 160 new passengers would board so I'm sure they outnumbered the tired world cruisers but we have cruised the Mediterranean many times and had seen many portsand we departed the Whisper in Athens. The food was wonderful in all dining venues and tasted better than I had remembered. The evening entertainment was professional and entertaining, Day lectures were educational and worthwhile and included a travel professional who highlighted the upcoming tours with a visual presentation describing history and cultural advice and additional sights. On days at sea, two speakers entertained passengers, one on British spies during World War 1 and two The other speaker told us his fascinating experience in Africa with camels. He actually rode by camel across the Gobi desert. Also on the British experience in Africa. The swimming pool was active with sun worshippers throughout the day as well as the hot tubs. We came on the ship as basically first time Cruisers for the World Cruise 2017. Jan 6 to May 3, San Francisco to Monte Carlo. We had no complaints about the cabin or the ship, it is a little dated. Many of the repeat cruisers were very unhappy with the condition of the ship as most were led to believe the ship had gone under renovation before the cruise. It turned out only some internal things were redone. New carpet was installed. Getting into the restaurants was not a problem. We thought La Terraza, morning and afternoon buffet was very good even though it was pretty much the same everyday. It was the best food of 3 in the evening. Food was very good, most of the time, but most of the menus were repeats. There was lots to do with many days at sea. Lots of lectures, classes and entertainment.. The service was way beyond our expectations. The crew was outstanding and worked very hard to anticipate your every need. There was a bit of a language barrier at times but their smiles and happy attitudes made up for it all. Some of the ports were redundant, and some we wondered why we went there at all, as there was nothing to do, or it would be Sunday and everything was closed. The biggest disappointment was the shore excursions. Many of the tours did not fit the descriptions. Many of the tour guides had their own agenda, or could not speak good English, so you were basically riding around in a bus wondering what you saw. Complains to the Excursion Desk fell on deaf ears. Hard to believe they had done some of these in previous cruises. Book with a Travel Agent company who has a representative on board and includes some of the land tour. Someone that hears you and advises you on board. Private cars were some of the worst unless you know where you want to go and a little something about the port. Don't be afraid to complain and fill in your reviews. We did not and that was a mistake, as we were basically ignored, I suppose assuming we were happy. We are not complainers. Final, this is not a cruise for children, not even any of the legs. Not a fit for the World Cruisers and nothing to do on board. Read Less

We chose this cruise as birthday gift for husband, who wanted to transit Panama Canal, but this ship is now looking vey old inside and is needing a refit. Unfortunately as this is happening just before World Cruise, I feel we got the last of the awful bits, before refurb is done. Main restaurant food well below expectations and more often than not cold, vegetables same every night, little choice. Even on formal nights nothing really special, they seem to think putting lobster on the menu is special. Not in this day and age. Chef needs to upgrade his thinking and maybe think out of the box sometime. Can't imagine how a world cruise dining plan will go, Speaking to other cruisers who have been on other 5/6 star ships, they were also of the opinion Silversea is not keeping up, and I think it's needing a complete rethink, was thinking of booking the new ship but not now, will give others a go. So disappointed. Shows on board exactly the same as last time, just the faces have changed. Read Less

There were many positives about this cruise. First was the fellow passengers. We had so much fun with the Brits we met. (We are American and this particular cruise was probably 75% Brits.) There were no children on this Panama Canal cruise. That was a positive for us and this particular itinerary. Kids would have been bored. We weren't. Although we skirted the storm Otto, we still made every port and thoroughly enjoyed the Panama Canal crossing in the rain. (How much rain? A cabin on our deck, below the observation level, flooded!) And a tip for those taking the panama canal cruise east to west -- Florida to California -- get a cabin on the port( left) side, much more to see. Now the negative: the smoking. This luxury line and I believe Seabourn appear to cater to smokers, who appear to be European. Silversea allows smoking on one whole side of the outdoor dining by the pool. That means at night eating under the stars could be lovely until smoke wafts around you. That happened to us the first night. Yes you can ask for the side which has non-smoking but it was always jammed. The same happened for luncheons outside where the man next to us was blowing cigar smoke in our faces. And for breakfast, they allow smoking on the outdoor area behind the restaurant, so forget eating breakfast outside. Smoking and food do not mix. This was a big turnoff for us. Also the dinner menu was so gourmet, few knew what they were eating. Europeans seemed to love the puzzle. We Americans could do with a bit more comfort food. These two issues make us question whether to take Silversea again. Read Less

After two delightful days in Montreal we boarded Silver Whisper for our 10 day Canada and New England cruise. This was our seventh cruise on Silversea and it will most certainly not be our last. The Whisper, we were told, is scheduled for some fairly major refurbishment later this year. While I am confident that will be a successful re-do I found very little about the ship in dire need of attention. The public spaces were very well maintained and our Silver Suite was immaculate. The wooded built ins would benefit from some sprucing up and there are not enough outlets for all the gadgets needing charging, but that's about all we could see needing much attention. We had dinner twice in Le Champagne: excellent in both service and cuisine--three times in La Terrazza: the Duck Ragu captivates us--three times outside at The Grill: always fun--and twice in The Dining Room: good service and above average cuisine. Lunch and Breakfast were generally at the La Terrazza buffet and both were very good. A couple of lunches outside at the pool were also good, although I wish for a little more variety on the menu. The ability to reserve dinner reservations on line is a real improvement. The Voices of Silversea were not exceptional and we did not attend many of their performances, but we do not cruise on Silversea for the entertainers. Of course, without question, the best part of Silversea cruising is the staff. We were called by name so early and often it was amazing. And every face is a smiling one. I give them a 10 in every regard for service. Read Less

This was a Girls' Cruise. I took my two daughters and a treasured niece. All, but me, of course, are in their late 40s. My niece was a newbie, but my daughters and I have cruised with Silversea many times. Actually, the Whisper is my favorite SS ship. Aside from being unexpectedly cold and windy, and in spite of a few missable ports (Saguenay and Sept Îles) it was a wonderful cruise. As is usual, the Silversea crew was fantastic...nothing is too much trouble. It always amazes me that the service is so fabulous, the atmosphere is quite formal, and yet there is no hand kissing, no pretentions. The guests are well traveled and friendly. The food and the complimentary wines were exceptionally good..even by Silversea standards. As usual, the bar service was terrific. Norman Rafelson, the Hotel Director is a star! For us, the Activities included attending a few good shows. Surprisingly, the 5:00pm daily team Trivia was the highlight. The Cruise Director, Vicki Van Tassel, a former Silversea entertainer, made every minute fun. It was obvious that she enjoyed hosting Trivia and that was infectious. We would/will travel with Silversea again in a heartbeat! Read Less

My husband wanted a repositioning cruise and I didn't want to be at sea more than two days at a time. Given that we decided to cruise less than 90 days before departure this was the best option. We'd never sailed on SilverSea but friends have and loved it. Embarkation and disembarkation were the easiest we've experienced. The ship is lovely and the veranda suite, very comfortable and well-designed. Our crossing was rough seas and we were at the front on an upper deck. We recommend midship on decks 5-7 for a less rocky ride. The crew is superb. The dining staff, reception, cruise director's assistants always greeted us by name. The bar keepers remembered our preferred beverages. All crew members were cheerful, always greeted us good morning, afternoon, evening. They were courteous to one another and seemed to enjoy working together. I cannot praise them enough. Our butler and cabin steward were creative in suggesting ways to be of service and they were charming, gracious men. The food was very good. We dined at least twice in every venue for dinner and lunch, and the food is very good. The dining service is exceptional. We did tire of the menus after several days, although we did try many different items. We thought they should have more menu changes every few days. Do not miss tea in the lounge. The scones with clotted cream were even better than what we had on the Cornwall shore excursion. The rest of the tea munchies were excellent but go for the scones, although not daily as they are very rich. Frank, the sommelier, was very helpful about the wines, as well as eager to share his commendable views of the offerings. Regina, shore excursions manager, was knowledgeable about the mobility requirements of each excursion and was very patient in answering questions. Each local guide was excellent and enthusiastic, well versed in what would be of interest to his guests. We had a good overview of each destination during the excursions. That said, if doing this over, I might book private guides to see more in less time. The small boat photo excursion in Greenland was spectacular and our favorite of them all--getting close to so many and such varied ice bergs--was extraordinary. Because we booked the cruise so close to departure, we were wait listed on several excursions and dinner reservations but always cleared. Vicki, the cruise director, has a delightful personality and is immensely talented. Her assistants, Helen and Luisa, are treasures. Vicki's "Ship Happens" was creative, personal, perfect. The Riverdancers were terrific, as were the lovely young women Celtic singers. The enrichment by Bill Miller and Nikki were very polished, informative, and fun. The crew performance one evening was great fun and Oliver, head bartender, and Romeo, butler, were terrific. Oliver is a natural comedian. Cruise consultant Nancy has a lovely voice and personality. Unexpectedly, the other passengers were down-to-earth, sometimes quirky, generally fun and interesting people very interested in experiences on shore. The couples all clearly enjoyed being together and took great care of each other. The crew was very safety conscious, important given the rough seas. They spa and fitness center were closed when seas were too rough, and I had full confidence in the tenders crew when we went ashore in rough seas. We don't like dressing up but crew was easy about making us comfortable and we made sure to meet minimum expectations, which wasn't a chore. Read Less

This cruise was misrepresented by Silverseas. They called it a cruise from Southampton to Montreal. We paid top dollar for this. This was a repositioning cruise, as told to us by many staff members. Repositioning cruises typically have reduced rates. The shore excursion staff was ignorant about most of the ports. Thus, you could not get information about what was in the port. When asked questions , they referred to material prepared by staff, in Miami, who clearly had never been in the ports either. We signed up for a silver shore guided excursion, supposedly their best, of a national trust house. We did not get a guided tour because the guide said no guides were permitted in the house. We received a bus ride with some information for our money. When we returned, we went to the excursion desk to discuss what had happened. First we were told that we were wrong about the guided tour. When we showed it to them in writing, they made many excuses. Why did shuttle buses end at 4:30 when the ship did not leave until many hours later? Again the answer was The office arranged it. I could give you many more examples of the incompetence of excursion staff, but you get the idea We encountered several days of rough seas where some public areas had to be closed for safety reasons. That makes sense. But why couldn't activities be offered in safer areas of the ship? These days were boring. The cruise was supposed to be 17 nights. On the 15th night, we had the farewell dinner and show. No activities were planned for the final days of the cruise. There were some positive things about the cruise. We found all staff eager to please. Our 5th deck suite was typical of Silverseas. One comes on a Silverseas cruise to be pampered. A middle of the night request for tea was handled quickly and politely. We found the food and service good but the menu was repetitive and became dull. The butler handled all of my requests with "certainly mam." We ate 1 night in the extra cost restaurant. We were extremely disappointed in the offerings and their preparation. This was our 3rd Silverseas cruise and probably our last. Read Less

This was our second cruise with Silversea and we wouldn't have thought they could improve on perfection but they did! Being onboard was like being in a cocoon where our every need was catered to. It was almost as though our butler and the food and beverage staff anticipated our wish and had it taken care of before we could even ask. As we walked down the hall into the bar, Oliver the bartender would have our drinks waiting for us. The shore excursions were fantastic with small groups and knowledgeable guides. We were impressed with the quality of the nightly entertainment. The singers were exceptional and entertained us with opera, broadway and oldies. Vicki, our cruise director, with her dry sense of humor and buoyant personality keep us in stitches the entire time. Our suite was spacious and the twice daily service was meticulous. The variety of dining options and the caliber of the food made each dinner a special occasion. Our only disappointment is we could never get into the Le Champagne, the Relais & Chateaux speciality restaurant. I recommend guests book this restaurant in advance of embarking. My husband and I were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and this cruise far exceeded our expectations. The small size of the ship and the friendliness of the other guests and staff made it a trip of a lifetime! Read Less
