We wanted to visit the island of cuba, but this part of the cruise was cancelled before ever going. we decided to go ahead because we wanted to get away for a short vacation. even though we could not go to cuba, we decided to take this cruise anyway because neither of us had been to nassau and it had been 20 years since i had been on the grand bahama island. the dolphin experience on grand bahama was really, really the best. those trainers are excellent. i am just glad that we got to make this trip before hurricane dorian landed in the bahamas and now has taken some of the beauty away. I really appreciate the opportunity to have a 50% off price on the next ncl cruise since the "cuba" stop was cancelled. i spoke with many who had booked this cruise for that particular reason also. having been a travel agent in the past, i like to speak with guests and how they see these cruises and changes. One thing that i personally will recommend is the private island spa treatment. it was most relaxing. also i would recommend the dolphin experience and the sting ray visit. i myself just had a hard time standing up in the water without losing my balance. thanks to another guest who helped steady me, i could continue with this experience of touching the sting rays. Thank you ncl for a great saturday to thursday vacation in the bahamas before the hurricane hit. we did not know anything about the weather. Read Less

I was worried about this cruise from all of the negative reviews, but after taking it I have no idea what any of the negative reviewers are talking about. The ship itself was great. It was well laid out, didn't feel crowded, and the recent update really shows. The only issue is some areas were a little hot, but nothing major. The service was great, and everybody was very friendly. The wait times at the restaurants were minimal, except for the night we went at 5:30. Go at 6:30 and you won't wait more than 10 minutes for either course. The food itself was good at both complimentary restaurants. Some interesting choices for appetizers, but you can try as many as you like. I'd compare the quality of the food to a Cheesecake factory, not perfect but perfectly good. The buffet was small but there was always something good, and the crowds didn't seem bad if you're not there right at sail away. Check out the Outdoors Cafe for a more limited menu, and it's never crowded. The wings at the Sports Bar (open until 3 am) were great too, although service here is a bit slow late at night. The bars were plentiful, and other than the pool bar you won't really find a wait. I don't know why people have complained about this in other reviews, but maybe where they're from the bartenders have a drink waiting for them before they sit down? At all the bars I visited on the ship (all of them, multiple times) I was asked what I wanted to drink within a couple minutes after sitting down. The entertainment was good, in that it was all pretty enjoyable. If you're looking for a big Broadway style show, this ship isn't for you. However, the musicians they placed around the ship were all talented, and it seemed like there was always someone playing. The casino wasn't too crowded or smoky, but the machines were stingy af but you have to expect that on a cruise. Overall, I think it was a great, clean ship. It's older so it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but a lot of people like that. I think the negative reviews come from people who tend to look for things to complain about. There was a few of these on the cruise itself, but very few. Read Less

First time on a cruise and I was looking for something before end of August. Looked at different cruise lines and NCL gave me a lot more for my $$$. Loved the whole experienced and my kids (13 & 16) asked me to book it again, the same cruise! Staff was great, shows super entertaininig, the music, the comedian!! OMG i haven’t laugh so much in a long time. Food was great at all the different locations, but the Churrasqueria was even better. I didn’t do excursions with NCL, as their prices were a bit more from what you could get just by disembarking, so the i never used the credit the cruise gave us. I would do this again with NCL Sun as the experience we lived is something we will remember for ever! Thank you NCL staff, my sons enjoyed every moment of the cruise and my wife had the best Bday ever! Read Less

We booked to go on the Norwegian Sun at the very last minute as the dates suited us. Although we have cruised over 50 times, we always stayed clear of Norwegian. Unfortunately, I read the ships reviews after booking and as a result our expectations were not very high. However, our experience turned out to be absolutely excellent. From the clean rooms to the food and service; everything was first class. I am not sure where some of the negative reviews come from, but based upon our experience, they are false. Getting on the ship was a breeze, Dining in the main restaurant was very good. The premium beverage package was well worth it, we had two dinners in the fancy restaurants, one (French) was the highlight. We were so impressed, that we purchased some of Norwegians future deposits and are already looking forward to our next cruise with them. Read Less

We booked the Norwegian Sun 3 day cruise to Bahamas as our first cruise. An experiment. Three adults (3 generations). It came with two lower beds and an upper, pull down bed . There's also a pull out couch if you need it. We were pleasantly surprised with this room. It's one of the cheapest on the ship and way down (4th floor). It has high ceilings it's spacious, suitcases fit under bed, lots of cupboard space if you want to use it (we didn't). TV, mini fridge and the bathroom is spacious. I'm writing all this because this is the kind of info I was looking for before I went. I'm claustrophobic and was worried that I'd panic but I didn't. There's no window in this room and it's way down but it was ok. Never felt the least bit anxious. Slept great (minus the women fighting next door on last night it was quiet). Felt very little, if any, movement. Love the freestyle dining, you can eat when you want. Didn't pay for the extra restaurants, just used the free ones and they were great. No complaints. Buffet good as well. Sometimes hard to get a drink, even pop, as the bars very crowded (drinks free). They should have a way for you to get pop on your own through self serve fountain. That would be my only complaint. Overall would definitely do this again! Anyone taking this cruise don't feel scared about taking a cheaper room at the bottom of the boat, they are great. Especially this one. We were right at the staircase so didn't have to walk down a long narrow hall to get to our room. That's a bonus! Read Less

The dining experience was also a bonus. Easy to make reservations for the different dining rooms. The service staff was attentive and very friendly. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of our inside room. We normally like a balcony, but we were very comfortable in this cabin. We also found that when we needed to ask guest service questions, there were very short lines which was quite a plus. The embarkation process was simple and quick and the debarkation was the quickest and easiest we have ever gone through. The food available at the buffet was very good and we loved the choices for dinner. We did notice there wasn’t a lot of fish or seafood choices though. We did take advantage of the future cruise promotion which we are looking forward to. Read Less

After reading numerous reviews, talking to friends who have sailed on NCL, finally decided to dip our toes in the water on NCL after sailing 15+ times on RCCL, 5+ times on Disney and regrettably one time on Carnival. I couldn’t have been shocked at the customer service throughout the cruise. The initial walk aboard buffet is usually just blah, this one was a top 10 welcome aboard buffet. Food throughout the cruise was fantastic with only one area I believe needs addressing or can be skipped on your journey if you are sailing on NCL Sun. We ate at numerous places for breakfast and lunch and specialty restaurants for dinner. La Bistro (French) and the Sushi restaurant were both outstanding and I would definitely eat at next time. However; Cagney’s (steakhouse) was okay. Great appetizers, soup, salad, sides and dessert (especially the OMG cheese cake and raspberry creme brûlée). But, when it came to the steaks they were okay at best. Both the actual cut of meat and the temperature cooked at were a 3 or 4 on a scale of 1-10 from what you would expect from a steakhouse. We ate dinner here twice, hoping the second time would make up for the first time. Try the non steak and seafood items because the rest of the meal was fantastic especially the potatoes au gratin and garlic mashed potatoes. And like I said earlier the Sushi and La Bistro was fantastic as well as the rest of the food on board the ship. The ship felt new from the refurb it got last year in 2018. Staff throughout was great. We spent over 6 hours in the spa on various treatments and they were all excellent. The bartenders were all friendly especially Carlo. Thumbs up to him! In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone looking to get away and either relax, party, and anything in between. Read Less

We chose this cruise for our anniversary celebration, and boy was it worth it. The VIP services were Great! The butler, concierge, and cabin steward were exceptionally helpful, courteous and professional. They made us feel important and appreciated. The ship was clean and welcoming. The only drawback was the dense smoke in casino. Suggest that a separate location for non smokers be considered. The first on/off was certainly a great perk. The Captain's cocktail hour was good and enjoyable. We're already in planning stage for our next cruise. The food was good, wait time was a little long at the 7 seas restaurant. We'll tell our friends to surely go VIP cruising and get spoiled. De-barkation was as easy as embarkation not a bad experience. All staff encountered was met with pleasantries and professionalism. Our butler Francis was very courteous and helpful attended to all our requests and desires, we wanted to bring him home!!! Read Less

We chose this cruise due to a fundraiser that fell thru. I had paid for it and decided to keep my ticket. Four other family members all veteran at cruising joined me. We had a blast. They enjoyed the drinks while I stayed with Pepsi, Water and tea. We did the Japanese Restaurant on the ship as well as the 2 main dinning rooms for dinner and the Buffet for breakfast and lunches. The private island was beautiful and very relaxing, with good food also. We went swimming with the Dolphins out of Nassau and had a blast. The walk to our meeting place was relaxing and took lots of photos. We had a photo album made from our photos and some other prints and love them all, will make great memories to hang on my wall. The staff was all very professional. I am already thinking of booking a longer one for 2021. But have to think a bit on it. Read Less

We decided on a quick weekend trip to celebrate my wife's birthday and still keep Grandma's babysitting commitment to a minimum. The only request I received from my better half was for it to be a "very relaxing" trip. The accommodations and the staff on the Norwegian Sun made this an easy request to fulfill. CABIN: We booked Stateroom 1203 which is an owners suite that I can honestly say is worth every penny. It offers a great flow with nice furnishings and finishes. The suite has a foyer with half bath. A living room with bar, TV, dining table, work desk and a large convertible sofa and an impressive view out over the front of the ship. A private bedroom with a TV and a nice reading chair next to a slider. The master bath offers a whirlpool tub with separate shower, dual sinks and a water closet. There is also enough storage between the closet and the built ins to comfortably take a week long cruise with a family of four. I like to keep the AC cold, so my wife really enjoyed the super comfy robes. The most impressive part of the cabin is the deck (this is not just a balcony). Three sliding glass doors open up to your private oasis that is large enough for two loungers with side tables, a table for four, and a generous sized Jacuzzi. And the views are breathtaking! It does get a bit windy when fully underway but enjoy the breeze and just use a heavier cup for your cocktail. SERVICE: With the suite we received top notch service from a Concierge (Gian), Butler (Rodwin) and Steward (Manuel). I thought going into the trip that this would be wasted on us, but I can honestly say each of these gentlemen made the trip truly special. Gian (Concierge) made sure our daily plans were aligned perfectly with everything we wanted to accomplish. He had us in prime seating for shows and we were treated like VIPs at all of the dining experiences. Rodwin (Butler) was constantly yet discretely making sure that all of our details where perfect in the suite and with any room service related requests. I never had a request take longer than 5 minutes to be fulfilled. I did not have those expectation levels but I appreciated the dedication to excellence. And finally Manuel (Steward) was always pleasant to chat with and kept the room in tip top shape. He also hooked us up with nightly towel animals even though that is not standard on this ship any longer. It's the little things right?! DINING: Day 1 Lunch - Cagney's: Excellent first impressions of our trip. We were escorted to the restaurant upon check in. The food was very good and the service top notch. Day 1 Dinner - Teppanyaki: Fun atmosphere with good food overall. The highlight was the chefs with the steak coming in a close second. Day 2 Breakfast - Great Outdoor Cafe: Buffet at the aft of the ship. Same offerings as inside but smaller lines and better views. Watch out for the gulls though! Day 2 Lunch - We stayed in one of the new Villas on Great Stirrup Cay and they had a private buffet that offered a great variety of delicious food. This new area is great and will only get better as they finish building it all out. All of the staff was very friendly and seemed to enjoy being stationed out there. Day 2 Dinner - Moderno: Food was good, but overall it just didn't have the same vibe as the other restaurants. The assistant waiters were a lot of fun and they saved the experience for us. Day 3 Breakfast - Breakfast in bed (brown chicken brown cow) Day 3 Lunch - On island in Nassau Day 3 Dinner - Cagney's: Wonderful! Best food item for myself was the cheese cake. Seriously I would take this exact vacation again for another bite. Day 4 Breakfast - Cagney's: Helluva way to end a trip. Food and service did not slip one bit even though I'm sure they were already thinking about the upcoming embarkation. SHORE EXCURSIONS: Mentioned above briefly, but not to the degree deserved, are the new VILLAS at GSC. The studios are open with the larger villas still in progress. The villas offer a great view of a private beach with ample loungers, umbrellas and floats at the ready. Each offers a private bathroom with shower, a TV, table and chairs, couch, and AIR CONDITIONING!!! They also have a nice sitting area on the front porch for relaxing with your beverage of choice under the ceiling fan. Did I mention the AC? The area comes with terrific bar service and an exclusive buffet. If you need to spend a little less on chotskies for the extended family at Nassau to make your budget work with this Villa experience, then Great Uncles be damned! This is the WOW factor you were hoping for when you saw private island on the website, trust me. EXTRAS: My wife had a swedish massage on the first day which really set the tone for the trip. She also took a yoga class that she enjoyed while I slept in! Read Less

The Norwegian sun was the most amazing cruise ship. I really enjoyed the all inclusive drink package. Made everything very easy. The entertainment was great. The food was amazing. The pools were awesome. I just cannot say enough about this ship. We were originally supposed to go to key west and Cuba. After the government canceled the cruise ships going into Cuba they re-routed us to the Bahamas. We had already been to the Bahamas last year and was a little disappointed but still had a great time. The offered a full refund or you could remain on the cruise and get 50% off this cruise and the next one in 2020. I thought that was very fair on how they handled that situation. One of my favorite experiences on the cruise was the white hot party out on the deck. Everyone dressed in white and had a big party with dancing and great music. I also really liked the comedian that was featured. He was very good. The casino was also a great place to hang out as well. The staff was very nice on every part of the ship. Read Less

I have cruised since 1975. This would be #23. It had been 10yrs since my last cruise. As a SENIOR I did not look for all the ship activities I would have looked for as my family was growing up; rock climbing flumes etc. This ship was ideal for my return to cruising. I love the smaller ship with it's lack of long lines; finding a quite spot; not fighting for a seat etc. Embarkation swift and easy. Parked adjacent to ship at 10:45 sitting in Garden Grill Buffet at 11:50. Like the washy washy hand sanitizing crew from the start. The focus on sanitary precaution well worth it. There were 3 food options 2 buffets plus pizza in rear of ship. Crew cleared area and checked on beverage refills. Food was plentiful and had many options for all tastes. We were 4 woman sharing a balcony cabin; adequate storage. Within an hour we had established a smooth working system for 4 woman. Example in AM my Grand daughter got all of us coffee. I retreated to balcony as others showered; hit the wi-fi or just woke up. Speaking of wi-fi we took unlimited and my grand had service entire cruise to what's app family at home or her social contacts. Cabin steward immediately filled request for 2 robes, an addition chair for balcony, empty frig and keep plenty of coffee pods in stock. Room kept neat and clean. We enjoyed 2 stage shows. Only con 1 show at 8. Should be at 9; race to see. Enjoyed White Hot deck party as spectator. Enough variety of entertainment for the various ages in our group. We ate most of our meals in the restaurants; the Seven Seas being our favorite for it view and décor. I enjoyed the fact I could have a glass of wine each night. My family also enjoyed the drinks offered free of charge. They also took in and enjoyed games. It is sad to say we were the last docking of the Sun in Havana. We took air conditioned bus with a guide who spoke perfect English. This was basically our only option due to traveling companion's. Classic cars stirred memories of my teen yrs This was the real reason I choose Sun. Havana is such a different port. I enjoyed all the architectural diversity. Since I love history I enjoyed the background info and highlights of Old Havana and the look of New Havana. There were areas that broke your heart and you could see the glory Havana was. I hope that this port will reopen sometime in future. It is thru inter action that people learn from each other. We had priority disembarking so we ate breakfast at 7, met our escort at 8, off ship by 8:20. Luggage picked up by red cap and in our car by 8:35. Home in Orlando area by 10;15 On drive home we all discussed our trip and how we would do it again Read Less

Missed out on another sold out business related cruise stopping in Cuba as one of the ports so I decided to do this last minute booked trip solo (paid double for my interior cabin which was midship and near to guest services & all activities) since I did all the research and was intrigued by the Vinales region of Cuba for a day trip. I also needed a mental getaway and break and this was perfect as we also stopped in Key West for a day which was fun! I spent alot of time watching Youtube videos about the Norwegian Sun and others who have done the Norwegian Cuba Cruise and Vinales. Kudos to Scott Singer Cruises on Youtube as he has entire playlists on this exact cruise ship and itinerary. Great for me so I knew what to expect the entire time, even though it was a joy just experiencing it all myself. Took the GoPort shuttle from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral which cost $30 roundtrip and was effortless. Reserved & paid online then called to confirm the meeting location was next to Thrifty Car Rental in MCO along with departure time. Staff was helpful and friendly getting everyone lined up to board the bus and loading luggage underneath. Relaxing ride to Port Canaveral. I had a carryon and napsack so I didn't need to check luggage. No water allowed on the ship so you'll have to discard before going through Port Canaveral security. Be sure to print out your itinerary and proof of all payments made for prepaid gratuities, travel insurance and shore excursions so that you have printed proof to show at checkin just in case their computers aren't up to date. It's $75 for a Cuba Visa if you're getting off the ship in Havana and it's paid through the cruise line. I chose to do the all day Vinales Excursion booked through Norwegian because I didn't want to think, worry or deal with anything once I got off the ship. Price was $175 for the tour which is worth it for the experience described below and the peace of mind to just relax and enjoy the day. I also liked knowing that if anything happened I could complain to Norwegian instead of advocating for myself in a foreign country. Once I got my keycard from the friendly check in staff and walked on the ship in less than 3 minutes, I headed straight to the dining room for lunch around 1:30pm. Washed my hands and proceeded to be pampered by the staff and served lunch. All the food was delicious & of course you can order & sample as much as you want from the menu! And so I did everyday! I loved that the ship was easy for me to navigate all levels and it didn't feel crowded. There were times when I was the only person walking on deck and it was just peaceful. Would do this exact cruise again in a heartbeat. Once we got to Havana, since Vinales is an all day trip with a 2.5 hour ride out to the countryside, I got up early and had breakfast then assembled in theatre to learn which bus I need to find once outside. Staff was there to direct us off the ship through immigration to get my passport stamped. It literally took less than 5 minutes to walk off the ship, through the terminal plus immigration and then out to the bus where my wonderful guide and driver were waiting. No Delays, No Lines, No Stress! You could stop in the terminal to change U.S. Dollars to CUC but I didn't because I'm not a shopper and just wanted to savor the experience. My extremely knowledgeable & professional tour guide was Manuel Alejandro Pozo Calvo with Havanatur.cu (Havana Tours). Manny is a Professor and Highly Educated. He could field any question and give you chapter and verse on every topic. I've traveled all over the world for decades and can honestly say he's one of the best tour guides I've ever had. His knowledge and intention to make sure we had an enjoyable day and learn as much as we can in addition to having a relaxing experience was on display all day. He took us to visit a cigar roller, we sampled coffee, visited the mural, had a delicious lunch and walked around the Vinales Valley with stops along the way. We were a small group so we had the opportunity to sample different fruits, rum and cigars. We had time to stop for photos and enjoy music along the way. We had several stops and walking tours throughout the day so we weren't just sitting on the bus the entire time. From the city to the countryside we got a crash course on this beautiful country and its people. Our Transfur driver was Johnny Toledo who was also helpful and friendly. He safely and masterfully navigated the roadways and the curves in the countryside with our big bus. The bus also had a bathroom in the back which was a lifesaver throughout the day. As a professional and licensed tour guide, Manny does tours for groups from all over the world so I offered to post his email here for anyone wanting to book a Cuba Tour with a PHENOMENAL tour guide. He can be reached at MannyPozoCalvo@gmail.com. All are advised to carry toilet paper off the ship and have on hand as you tour the city. Having a bathroom on the tour bus was an unadvertised bonus as we didn't have to go searching for a bathroom and then worrying about the facilities if we did a private tour. By the time we returned to Havana, everyone on the bus got to know each other so when Manny and Johnny dropped us off back at the terminal, we decided to explore Havana on foot on our own as a small group instead of going back on the ship. We literally crossed the street and just started walking. We walked all over for a couple hours until we ended up at the Malecon then circled back to the ship. The architecture in Havana is gorgeous and though many buildings have structural issues and need renovation, there is much to see and admire. The people were friendly and we felt safe walking around. Some will approach you to engage in conversation with music. Just need to be aware that you'll likely end up being lighter in the pocket as they're engaging and entertaining. Have some dollars you're ready to part with. By the time we walked back to the ship it was dark and we just headed to dinner. Many guests were headed off the ship to get a taste of Havana nightlife since we were leaving at 6am next day and they could have fun at the Tropicana or any of the clubs outside of the cruise terminal nearby in walking distance. It was a long and exciting day and we feel that we got our money's worth between the day trip to Vinales and then freely exploring the streets of Havana. You can always pay to get in the classic cars for a ride or just admire them all as you walk around. It's incredible how resourceful the Cuban people are in using what they have to survive and thrive as tourism is the #1 export for the country. Once back on the ship, I just relaxed and enjoyed the food, music and night entertainment. The Perfect Couple game show and Comedian were particularly fun and we had lots of laughs. Once back to Port Canaveral I had breakfast before getting off the ship. I'm thrilled that I did this last minute cruise and am looking at doing the same again soon as there is so much more to see in Havana. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to anyone who is adventurous, curious about other cultures and loves to explore. The Cuba Cruise is perfect for that. The Food, the Culture, the Music, the Architecture, the Art and the People will not disappoint. You're only allowed a maximum of 100 cuban cigars if you buy any to bring back to the United States. What I loved about going on Norwegian is that the staff was great and everything was effortless. I didn't have to think or worry about anything the entire time. Got back home totally relaxed and already plotting future cruises with Norwegian's CruiseNext Program and my Personal Cruise Planner. Enjoy your Cuba Cruise! Don't delay. Just Do It. And yes, I'd go again on Norwegian! Read Less

Suggested by my friends. So glad we went. We were looking to celebrate my birthday. The ship was prefect not a lot of people on board so it was not crowded. Enjoyed the staff they made you feel right at home. I really loved the Stirrup Cay Island it was amazing to visit. I would go back again. This was my first cruise and look forward to my next trip. The only thing I can say about the cabin was very clean. I had a hard time getting my water that I order brought to my room. Bought 6 bottles we left the port on Friday and never got my water until after 8 pm Saturday night. I was not impressed with the Cabin as we had a loud noise from I think the elevator running all time and our room was right next to it. Could not sleep was we did tell staff but the noise did not happen while they were in the room so nothing got done. Was told to call when the noise started back up *2 for service but no one answered and called over and over. Read Less

I love Norwegian. My best friend had only gone Royal Caribbean so this was a first for her. We looked at length of cruises and 4 days away we thought would be enough to rejuvenate these two working moms. This trip was amazing! First we splurged because it was just the two of us so we did not each have to pay for our family of 4. We were upgraded to the Penthouse. We upgraded with no idea what that meant besides a bigger balcony and a big bed. What we did not know was that we would be pampered beyond belief. We were met boarding by Gian, our concierge who booked everything we wanted-restaurants, shows, excursions, messages. It was amazing. Then we went to Cagneys for our welcome lunch. Our waitresses and waiters were great. I had my first drink “Ms. Universe”. The food was exceptional. We chilled there until our room was ready. Once we went to our room we could not believe this place was ours for four days -A great front of the ship balcony, huge bed, double sink, soak tub, shower, two loungers. We had a lot of room! Strawberries and cheese were waiting for us with Champagne. The next day we were going to Great Stirup Cay. We got a Villa. Our butler Rodwin met us there to show us around. Yes, our butler. We had no idea what a butler does except on Fresh Prince of Bellaire so you can imagine our surprise when we met him on day 1. Our Villa was beautiful-air conditioning, refrigerator, fresh fruit, nachos, water, coffee, tea, couch, tv, table, two covered lounge chairs and private beach and buffet area. This is a great idea for families. It was $350 total and we had $100 excursion credit and $50 extra food credit. The two of us split it to $125 each! A bigger family could absolutely split it. We splurged and got massages on the island. It was heaven. I can’t say enough about how great Rodwin was. He came anytime we called, answered our questions, left us cookies or sandwiches when we were gone and brought us fresh flowers. He also set up a full breakfast table for us 1 morning with linens. We had to waiters I Made Yesa and Mike Menanghas who were super! We also loved the music show and the comedian. We hard core belly laughed and relived the music from our childhood. If we could have hid in the closet and stayed on the ship, we just might have. Thank you Norwegian for everything! Great staff! -Marti & Jen PS...the pillows were so nice, we bought our own from NCLhome.com Read Less

Freestyle everything. Open bar. Upgrade to Cagneys for one night. Didn’t have to sign for anything. Staff outstanding. Cleanliness of ship outstanding. Very organized. Never waited for anything. Disembarkation well organized and quick. Can’t say enough positive about this cruise. Will do again. Used our balcony quite frequently. Did not go to shows. Did not do excursions. Took a taxi to Atlantis. Did not do the aquarium at Atlantis as we thought it was too expensive. If you get upgraded liquor package go to Windjammer bar as they have nice sipping scotch. Buffet breakfast had everything you want. The only item they did not have anywhere on ship was cookies. The ship had a lot of younger clientele which was refreshing. Looking to do a Xmas cruise with Norwegian. After doing the freestyle I will never do traditional cruise again. We took a few one dollar bills for tips. Staff very appreciative. Read Less

My wife chose this cruise as she wanted to visit Havana, Cuba. We arrived the morning of departure but didn't check in at the boat until 1pm. Lines were just getting busy. They moved quickly and we were on board after about 15-20 minutes inside the terminal getting our room keys/info. Make sure to have all your paperwork/reservation info and your passports ready to go when you get in line. Once on board our rooms weren't ready. The crew onboard had set up an area within the Bliss Lounge that you could check your luggage at so you wouldn't have to drag it around with you. The crew member gave us a "receipt" for our luggage and my wife and I then walked around the ship. It was raining lightly at the time so the pool deck was closed. We found one of the restaurants and had a nice lunch. While eating lunch an announcement was made that our rooms were ready. After lunch we claimed our luggage from Bliss lounge and found our room. We were on Deck #6 towards the front of the boat. Our hallway only had 7-8 rooms on that side of it so the noise level was very low and foot traffic - none. It was a great spot. Like most ships our room was small but had enough space/storage to handle a large suitcase and a carry on case. My wife also had a large carryon purse/bag that didn't take up much space. Room was very clean and bright with our large window. No balcony. Bathroom is the only downside to these rooms. Very small, but then again you are on a ship. We ate most of our dinners in one of the main dining rooms. We didn't do too much for lunch. Breakfast we did the buffets. The food at both the buffets and the dining rooms were great. The menus in the dining rooms had a nice variety and actually had flavor. If you are a foodie and enjoy nice dinners/lunches, you won't be disappointed. Our cruise did include the free beverage package. There are a few drinks on their menu that you will see a charge for. They usually included a special cup or some other type of special offer with the drink. If you just want a beer, wine, whiskey, mixed drink, or soda, then it was included. You would think that people would take advantage of the package and just cut loose a little too much. To my surprise it wasn't that bad. You had a few that took it a little too far, but for the most part people stayed within their limits and just enjoyed their trip. Our first port of call was Key West. For some reason our ship didn't dock until 1pm. We then had to be back on the boat by 6pm. Our excursion was to start at 1:30pm, but by the time we got off the boat and to our excursion starting point, it was around 2pm. Our excursion lasted approximately 3 hours. My wife and I had basically 1 hour to shop around Key West. We would have liked more time to experience the area. Our excursion was fun though. We did the Key Lime Bike tour. Got a little hot as the weather was in the upper 80's. Our tour guide, James, was fun and full of Key West history/knowledge. The Key Lime pie at the end of the ride was great. The one thing with the Sun is there isn't a lot of night activities scheduled other than the main show. My wife and I aren't big into dancing, and we don't gamble too much. The nightly schedule would include a few couples "game show" type shows. We did watch one called the "perfect couple". Three couples would have to perform certain tasks with their spouse/significant other. It was funny and a good time. The ship also had a comedian on board that week and we caught his "clean" show and the "adult" show. Both were funny and had us in tears at one point. The next morning we were in Havana. The ship sits in the City's harbor and when you exit the pier terminal you step right out into a very busy street of Havana. There are classic cars and horse drawn carriages just waiting to give tourists rides. Some other cruisers on our boat noted that they rented one of the classis cars for a tour of the city for around $40-$50 US dollars. They said the tour lasted about an hour. Havana is not the cleanest place in the world but the atmosphere and the people were great. Old Havana was fun to walk around in. The tight cobble-stoned streets with the tropical colors of the buildings were great. We did an excursion with a company outside of the cruise and had lunch at a local restaurant along with visits to local landmarks. It was a great time. Our itinerary included an overnight stay in Havana. I think it was so the people who wanted to shell out $250 per person for the Tropicana show excursion could do so. My wife and I didn't do that one. We stayed on the ship and enjoyed a nice dinner at Cagney's Steakhouse. Again the food was great. My steak was a little over cooked, but it wasn't terrible. The cut of meat was great and they included the house steak sauce which was very good. We had a nice desert to top off the meal. Because we were celebrating a special occasion, our waitress brought out a second desert for us. The next day we were heading back to Florida. Thursday was basically a day at sea. We didn't do much other than sit by the pool and watch some of the poolside games the activity staff had going on. Would have liked to have the morning hours to explore Havana a little more. My wife and I took advantage of the early disembarkation of the ship. We had an early flight out of Orlando. The ship docked at 7am. For the early disembarkation you have to be off the ship by 8:30am. You also have to carry your own luggage off. This was not a problem given our one large suitcase and carry on bag. The exit off the ship was easy with all walking ramps down into the terminal. No stairs or other issues that would have to worry about. Overall a great trip. Would go back to Havana and Key West again. Would prefer a little more time at each stop. The ship was great and the staff was amazing. Highly recommend the Norwegian Sun. Read Less

My daughter brought her sister and myself to celebrate my 70th birthday and Mother’s Day on this wonderful cruise. We were treated like royalty and had a simply fantastic time! Our suite was spacious and our butler attentive. We tried every restaurant on the ship and sampled so many treats. The wait staff in any of the eateries was prompt and elegant. The trip to the Great Stirrup Cay was heavenly. Drinks and reading on the beach after a dip in the turquoise water. The girls had a great time snorkeling. The next day a trip to the Straw market on Nassau. Could life get any better? The pool was fun and the center of lots of entertainment. The Bliss Lounge showcased the game “Yes or No”. Even just observing allowed for lots of laughter. This was the treat of a lifetime...my first cruise but NOT my last. What a beautiful experience! Read Less

I had a wonderful experience aboard the Norwegian Sun. Hospitality was excellent. There were many activities onboard that we enjoyed each day. The dining, bar, and room staff were extremely helpful and friendly . I would recommend this cruise to all! Great Stirrup Cay was the highlight of my trip. The food was amazing, and the island was beautiful. We enjoyed the open bar on both the ship and the island. The ship was in great condition. There was easy access to pools, entertainment and dining. The Assistant Cruise Director, Mauricio always provided outstanding entertainment. My daughter had a great time dancing in the Bliss Ultra Lounge. I particularly enjoyed watching the game shows from the lounge area on my room television late in the evening. It was as if I was able to experience all the amenities the cruise had to offer. I would love to cruise aboard the Norwegian again! Read Less
