Even though I contacted NCL cust. svc. a least twice before boarding the ship and even I minutes before checking-in to confirm if there will be any changes on the itinerary, to have the opportunity to cancel the trip, but right after checked-in, we were warned abut complete change of itinerary for a place not even similar to the original destination. (Cozumel instead of Bahamas Islands) During the whole trip (most at sea) the crew never agreed on notifications and contradicted themselves all the times. The level of missinformation handle by NCL personnel on board was incredible and at no given time we felt that the situation was under control due to the continuous changes of notice. Also the entertainment after being forced to spend extra time at sea was dull with very few options, even the case of being notified of "continental breakfast being available from 5:30 am" (posted in a flyer) but after ariving before 6am, all buffete areas were closed even the waitreses were ashamed of it that they did the extra effort to provide a meal from Room svc. Finally, due to the continuous misinformation, we almost missed our flight because we were not able to leave the ship at earlier time. I do understand the seriousness of changes of itinerary due to a hurricane but I don't believe this is the first time happens to NCL in order to show so much improvisation. Nothig compares a trip to a caribean Isand like The Bahamas in replacement to Cozumel, MX. Bottom line, it was a very dissapointed and stressful cruise Read Less

Such a waste of time and money. I honestly don’t know where to begin. Let me start with the food. The buffet was the worst food I have ever eaten. Worse than cafeteria food. Food was cold, tasteless and thrown together. First night in main dining room my wife ordered NY Strip cooked medium. It came out well done and so thin it looked like it belonged on a sandwich. She sent it back and guess what, well done again. Sent it back the third time, yup, well done. At this point she said screw it and kept it. That was the seven seas dining room. We went to the four seasons dining room for a couple of other nights and the experience was better, mostly because of our waiter Apri. Food was just ok though. We went to two specialty restaurants, the hibachi and Cagneys. Hibachi was great, Cagneys, disappointing. The sides were good at Cagneys but the steak was just OK. Next I’ll comment on the pool. It’s chaos, plain and simple. Only two small pools which get extremely crowded with four hot tubs in-between. It was like sardines in a can. We had a balcony cabin which was small but fine. Adeline kept it clean but my wife had to ask for towel animals. I thought towel animals were made on all cruises? They even have a towel animal walking around to pose for pictures but no towel animals unless you complain? Strange to say the least. Activities were lacking to say the least, unless you want to pay $25 a card for deal or no deal or at least $39 for bingo. Both are total money grabs. There isn’t much to do on this ship, this was more of a booze cruise. Shore excursions are terribly overpriced. We booked ours through an outside agency and saved 50%. With this being my first experience with Norwegian, I can not see myself cruising with them again. Carnival was actually a much better experience. There was not much to do for our 14 year old aboard the ship. I almost forgot to mention the cruise director Jacky. Or should I say Houdini because he was no where to be found besides calling Deal or No Deal. Between the food, servers and bartenders who always looked miserable, ship, lack or entertainment, a casino with outdated machines and a poker tournament that was an absolute joke, I would not take this cruise again even if it was free. My family and I wanted to take a end of the summer vacation together. We cruised August 16-19th. We honestly decided to cruise Norwegian because of the open bar, because we normally cruise Royal Caribbean but drink packages for 20 is a tad expensive. Norwegian open bar was really not worth it the staff was so rude and made the guest feel unwelcome like we were annoying them. The food on the ship was disappointing. A lot of the food was like hospital food with little flavor. The service from the staff was horrible. The majority of the staff including the bartenders and waiters was that they appeared to be annoyed by the guests and seem to have a careless attitude about providing good service. I have travelled on other cruise lines so I understand what quality customer service is and it was not there on this trip. When I would approach a staff member with a simple question no one ever seem to have an answer and the majority of the staff was not able to communicate basic english to answer questions like “where is the bathroom”? Or “what time are we scheduled to be at our next destination?” We upgraded one of our rooms to a balcony and it wasn’t worth it. The room was so tight that you literally had to jump over one bed to get in the room. I really wish I had a picture of that mess. Also, before cruising I was told I had to put a $300 hold per room. I did not have to do that my room key was disabled from making purchases which was fine I did not want to make any purchases. So if your wondering I set my payment to cash on checkin and never went to the service desk to change it. No $300 hold and cards disabled. For smokers they don’t sell Newport’s so don’t run out. Based on this experience this will most likely be our last cruise with Norwegian. Read Less

Let me start by telling you that this was my 30th cruise. I have sailed on a few different cruise ships and always come back to Royal Caribbean or Celebrity. I have heard from a great deal of people that Norwegian was usually middle aged as myself. Always had good service, food, nice ships and comparable prices. All of this is very much overstated, and here's why. These cruises are overpriced to cover the cost of alcoholic drinks. Included in your total ticket price everyone gets to drink as much as you want for free. Now, for you inexperienced, armature drinkers, as my daughter referred to them as, I'm sure this sounds awesome to say the least. Free drinks only accomplishes one thing, drunk party hardy people. If this is your thing great, go for it. Norwegian reminds me of Carnival ships. The ships are for young people who have one thing in mind, getting drunk and partying the entire time. The boos was flowing freely and yes I had a few as well. I never once saw anyone get carded. Now, I can't say for sure but, some looked very young. I went to the bar and was able to get two drinks at once. How do they know I didn't give it to a minor? This is concerning to me. I would say that 50% of the people were teens to early twenties, 30% 30's and 40's,the rest were 50 and up. I have an 8 day cruise planned with a balcony on Royal Caribbean and the cost is 400.00 cheaper than this 3 day cruise! Again, they have to offset the alcohol. My cabin had a big window which was nice, the room was an OK size, the bathroom was so tiny even a mouse would be chasing his tail! I'm a small woman and it was uncomfortable for me. The rooms were clean but, the oldness of the ship shows. It is in badly need of an overhaul. Oh, and it had no outlets for cells, kindle etc. Food was terrible, the taste was not good at all, the deserts were pretty good. My husband asked for a medium steak and it was tough as nails. They did give him another choice which was OK. the waiters were extremely slow and it was not crowded. I found the entertainment very poor and lacking. The comedy show was the best and only one we enjoyed. The service was terrible in my opinion. I never had one person greet me.No was was at the gang way even to tell people which way to go, the same was when we disembarked the ship. I have no idea who are room attendant was because he/she never came by to at the last introduce themselves. I may be spoiled by Royal and Celebrity, there customer service is impeccable!. They care about there passengers. Something that we rarely see these days. We the public are the ones who keep cruises in business and everything else for that matter. Customer service ought to be the first on everyone's mind. I can't comment on the excursions because we didn't take any after being in the Bahamas several times in the past. Several people we spoke to were very dissatisfied as we were. We spoke to a couple who were in their early 30's and even they complained. So this is not so much age related as it is about quality and customer service. Taken into consideration that this is an older ship i understand some things. Would we go on Norwegian again?, NO. I'd like to say I'd try a different ship but, will customer service change? prices? drinking? In my opinion no, because they have now set the bar with free alcohol being the number one promotion! My advise, check prices, if your a heavy duty drinker it might be good for you. If your looking to drink and party and don't care about what the ship offers including customer service then you found your cruise. ES Read Less

Obviously, we intended to go to Cuba, but...well, that didn't happen. PORTS: This is my #1 purpose for cruising, so it gets a lot of weight on my opinion. After our timely departure from Port Canaveral (smooth, excellent in and out), we were scheduled to arrive in Key West 11 hours later at 3p. Once underway, they shifted it back another half-hour. Even though there were no other ships in Key West, we berthed at the inconvenient Outer Mole, so had to deal with the secure shuttle nonsense, which is basically land-tendering. The last embarkation group was allowed off the ship at 5p, but even if you weren't one of those unfortunates, what a complete waste of a port! We then backtracked way back north, arriving at Freeport, Grand Bahama around 11a. That was fine, I guess, but I'd rather get an earlier start in port than that, too. Enjoyed this port, great snorkeling at Dead Man's Reef. Our third and final port was Nassau, where we FINALLY were allowed to get an early start. Unfortunately, this was the worst of the three ports, and by far the worst port I've ever visited on any cruise. Our privately scheduled tour from Cheryl's Taxi never showed up, so we booked a tour on the street. That was a mistake. Nassau's poor reputation as a port is richly deserved. Obviously, there are many considerations in selecting an itinerary, but this one seemed designed to maximize sailing time at the expense of time in port, which is baffling. We could have had a lovely, full day in Grand Bahamas if we'd have stopped there first, and honestly, anywhere else would have been a better port than Nassau. DINING: The Lido buffet was no better or worse than any other ship's. The regular dining room's lunch and dinner was better than Carnival's but not as good as HAL. The Brazilian upcharge restaurant was totally worth it and I'd wholeheartedly recommend. The Le Bistro upcharge restaurant and the upcharge sushi restaurant were nothing special, wouldn't recommend, wouldn't try again. Would have been just as pleased with the fare in the regular dining room. DRINKING: Cocktails, wine and beer are included in the fare, and it was really nice not to have to run that tab. The liquor selection was quite good, and cocktails were generally well-mixed (I like 'em strong), but service could be hit-or-miss. ENTERTAINMENT: Awful. I love playing trivia and went to two trivia things which were both just...bleak. Karaoke was no better. Gave up on the comedy show after 10-15 minutes. Walked through a lounge where the "entertainment" was uncomfortably homophobic. Seriously? We're still doing this? Ugh. The cruise director was very difficult to understand over the ship's intercom system, to the extent that some of our party didn't know the muster drill was even underway until I telephoned them. They didn't sound the actual alarm until everyone had been standing in the assembly stations for 15 minutes or so. POOL: The pool is both saltwater and highly chlorinated and will absolutely melt your eyeballs right out of your head if you open up underwater. If anything on that ship deserves a cautionary sign, it's that pool. They never put deckchairs on the upper back deck away from the pool noise, which sucks, because that's the only place I actually wanted to sit on the deck because they played music at unendurably loud levels near the pool. I really hate listening to other people's music. STAFF: With a few conspicuous exceptions, the Sun's staff seemed very burnt-out. It's self-evident NCL needs to improve working conditions for its onboard staff. Everyone worked diligently, they all just seemed very exhausted. People need real time off. Period. CONCLUSION: I do sympathize with all the cruise lines that had to hastily change their itineraries, but this itinerary was just rubbish. Key West is ruined by a very late arrival and terribly inconvenient pier, Nassau is basically an enormous souvenir shop full of hustlers. A half-day at the lovely Grand Bahama Island just can't make up for that. Read Less

I cruised with a group for a 60th birthday. We had originally booked a 7 day cruise with a different cruise line but the ship needed to be dry docked and they canceled our cruise two weeks before we were set to sail. The Sun had availability so we booked the 5 day cruise for the same week as the original cruise. I saw this as a great opportunity to try a different cruise line and I was excited to see what Norwegian was all about. The best part of the cruise was the ease of getting on the ship day 1 and off the ship day 5. The food in the buffet areas was okay. The options of types of food was slim and was the same everyday. The hamburger patties were extremely greasy and the pizza was okay at best. The rooms were nice but the bathrooms were definitely smaller than the bathrooms on other cruise ships I have been on. I did enjoy all the shelves they provided in the room and bathroom to put stuff on. After discussing my experience with the others in my group, some of them got towel animals, my room did not (we all had balcony rooms). It's not that I needed the towel animals, but the quality of room service was obviously not consistent across the ship. There weren't many activities to participate in because you are at port every day and most areas of the ship shut down early every night. The staff picked up all the chairs on the Lido Deck so you couldn't even sit outside at night and enjoy the scenery on that deck. You could however go to the back of the ship and sit at tables outside but since that is the only place, finding a table and chairs is difficult because everyone else is there. There is only one lounge to just sit in and enjoy. Again, every thing shuts down early in the evening. The open bar...the consistency of the service you receive at the different bars is upsetting. I ordered a Michelada and I never knew what I was actually going to get. I also didn't know if I would have to MAKE MY OWN DRINK or not. I had one bar tender literally pour more than half a glass of tomato juice and hand me a beer (on the first day). I had another bar tender pour half a glass of Bloody Mary mix (which is fine) and hand me a beer (again, on the first day). I asked if I may have the other ingredients put in the drink and he gave me the ingredients to do it myself. WHAT?! I have to do their job for them?! I must say, I did find one or two bar tenders who did a great job at making my drink and I made sure to go back to those bar tenders for the rest of my trip. The one time I ordered a regular cocktail, there was so much alcohol in the drink that it wasn't enjoyable. And the amount of under-aged drinking that was on that ship was concerning. I never saw anyone ask to see an ID and since it is an open bar, scanning your room key was not needed. I can understand if an adult orders the drink and then gives it to their child, but to see an obvious under-aged person walk up to the bar and get a cocktail is an unnecessary liability on Norwegian's part. Dinner in the dining room was decent. The majority of the food was the same throughout the week. Something I am just not used to from previous cruises. However, the Brazilian Steakhouse was delicious! The service was great as well. Key West was fun as always. Nassau's main land was miserable because of the locals but Blue Lagoon island was fantastic. The island is a safe haven (conservation) for all things natural which is great. The excursion staff was fun and super nice and the equipment (chairs, segways, umbrellas, etc.) was very well taken care of. Grand Stirrup Cay was nice, nothing special. In both Blue Lagoon and Grand Stirrup Cay the food was extremely similar to what they served on the ship which was disappointing. The cruise director was not very good compared to what I am used to. You didn't see him very often, maybe because of the lack of activities. The communication regarding getting off the ship at Grand Stirrup Cay was structured and nice. There was no communication at the other locations at all regarding getting off the ship. We only realized we could get off when we looked down off the ship and saw others getting off. Lastly, while most of the staff was polite, the staff never took the time to create a relationship with us. Again, from past experiences on a different cruise line, the room staff, a few bar tenders, and the dining staff all new our names and certain aspects about my roommate and I. We just didn't have that on the Sun. Overall, I knew the cruise would be different but I was not expecting the quality to be as different as it was. While there were some good aspects of the experience, it was not enough to want to cruise with Norwegian again. Read Less

So first of all - I thought I had zero expectations. I booked Norwegian Sun for the open bar but I quickly realized that got old quick. This was my partner and my first getaway after having our child and our overall experience was just okay. Here are my thoughts: Check in and getting on board was super easy so definitely a positive. Once we got on, we were able to go explore and get a drink and lunch. We quickly realized that they weren't a lot of entertainment for us (since we aren't dancers/clubby people) The one thing we were looking forward to was the comedy show, however it was scheduled the 2nd night during dinner time and our dinner took WAY too long at Seven Seas so we missed that. Our 3rd night, we saw it back again at 10:30pm the final night, however our specialty dinner didn't get done till 10:45pm so we missed the beginning. We were disappointed with the food on the ship. Buffet dinner was not appetizing and dessert kept running out. Sports bar - small menu it took forever to get the food or they forget it and then it is SUPER COLD by the time you receive it. Evening dinner was great and the hibachi was just average. We definitely had better hibachi for the same price. We noticed a handful of leaks on the ship (one at the sports bar and the other on deck 12) which made the carpet super wet and a total hazard. Our stateroom (picture window) was small but cozy. However our drain in our shower was not working which resulted to over spilling into the floor of the bathroom which was so annoying!! Great Stirrup - one of the islands I was so looking forward to visiting but as soon as we got there - boy it STUNK! It was so smelly from the pigs it was unbearable. As soon as I thought I got used to it - BAM you'd smell pig poop again. Was horrible. Bartenders were not that great and I felt they were just throwing liquor in a cup to get people to go away. A lot of the bartenders were annoyed by Day 2 on the ship. There was snarky comments that they were giving the guests. I don't blame them but you have an open bar that is what you get. I don't feel anything was communicated on how to leave - we couldn't hear the cruise director over the intercom because everything sounded muffled. If we didn't check our app we wouldn't have known what to do. I sprained my ankle on the stairs and went to the medical center to ask if they have a wrap they said they are closed and to come back in 6 hours after we depart or they'd have to charge me $75 for an emergency visit. I was a little pissed off - came back and she literally just got up and got me an ace bandage - I am like seriously?? You could have done this earlier. Also if you have your period, you have to go every where looking for tampons since the gift store doesn't open until the ship is moving. Frustrating. On the last night, in the middle of the night, our cabin started reeking of the smell of poop. It was so disgusting. Finally, disembark day - apparently my partner had been flagged to be stopped for a "random check." It was absolutely embarrassing on how they handled it and thought we were criminals getting escorted off the ship. We have traveled many times but that has never happened. Read Less

The A/c and toilet did not work in my room and several other peoples rooms on my floor for over a day. The Guest Services were not very helpful. The food and beverages were good and their staff was excellent. The ship did not seem to have their act together in that lots of things were advertised that did not occur or they were listed on a wrong day. The entertainment was excellent. The piano player was awesome. They sprayed your hands with sanitizer every time you entered an area with food. The free drinks added to the value of the cruise and the drinks were well made and readily available. The excursions were cheaper if you did not purchase them through the cruise. They have things marked down in the gift shop like you are getting a deal on jewelry or the artwork but when you check the internet it is still way overpriced. I was on this same ship one year prior and everything was excellent. Read Less

Let’s start with embankment; the computers were down and it took 4 hours of standing in line before we could board. I work in customer service so in these situations I try and be patient, but the staff relayed ZERO information to anyone as to what is happening, other than “You cannot leave this building”! When the computers came back online the staff did not try to maintain any lines so it was a frenzy of angry people trying to rush to make it to get on board. Strike one for Norwegians organizational skills. Now let’s get on board, as we finally make it on we are STARVING; after all we’ve been on lock down in embankment for at least 4 hours. So we make our way up to the buffet, grab a plate of food and sit down. My party I’m with all get about 3 bites of food on us before a staff member comes over and rudely announces “You cannot be eating right now, stop what you are doing immediately and go to your muster station.” Then proceeds to stare at us until we clear out, but not before making us chug our sodas because they “Cannot go with you, leave them and go!!” Now I understand the importance of a Muster drill, but let’s take into account that we were STILL BOARDING. As I hungrily make my way to the muster station (Station D, so I can see people STILL BOARDING while the drill is happening!) Never at any point do I have any staff member instruct me who to pay attention to, or attempt to lead our group in any kind of example on life vests. I still do not know where I should have gone or what I should have done had something happened to our ship. Now after all that I’m pretty on edge, and a bit tired so I head to my stateroom fling open the door and see two twin beds, even though I had requested it be converted to a queen. No big deal right? This should be an easy fix! I pop my head out into the hallway and see a young woman handling luggage; now as a first time cruiser I do not know if she is my steward or not so I simply ask “Excuse me ma’am, but could you tell me who to talk to about getting my beds fixed? I’m supposed to have a queen.” To which I get the retort, “I don’t know, go ask your stewardess or something!” Horrified by the attitude I’ve been given I decide to call guest services to see if they can help me. After five minutes on hold I relay my request for my bed to be fixed, am assured it will be in under an hour and I head to the bar. Now let’s fast forward a bit to 10pm when I am standing at guest services for what is now the 6th time of requesting help on this. It took 6 trips or calls to guest services and 5 hours to get my twin beds converted to a queen. Strike 2 for Norwegians organizational skills. The next day we arrive in Key West and for the first time there is some semblance of organization as we walk right off the ship. Had a wonderful afternoon in key west until we take the trolley back and after they drop us off there isn’t a single staff member in sight. There just 30ish of us standing there outside a gate trying to figure out what to do, a more experienced cruiser moves the gate and leads us all to the embarkment point. Strike three for Norwegians organizational. At this point in the chaos the ENTIRE group of thirty people begin to mock the “organization” of Norwegian as a whole because it has been such a JOKE so far along. Now let’s talk about the photographers; I sincerely wish I had gotten the name of the man who took our family photos but this boy needs FIRED. Every picture taken he posed us so much the end shots made us look like an awkward robot family. Then when my parents stepped aside so my wife and I could get some couple shots he had us pose in these weird back to back thing that made us look like awkward siblings and not a lesbian couple. We tried to get into a more ‘romantic’ pose and I kissed her cheek, only to have him move us and go back to the friend zone. This man clearly had no idea what to do with a lesbian couple, and the photos were proof. (We bought NONE taken by him by the way) We had to go a different night and wait in a line for a different photographer just to get a couple decent shots. Oh and while we’re on the subject we were NEVER offered embarkment photos. My entire family wore matching outfits specifically for the occasion, and they never brought the screen with the ship on it out, once boarded and had removed it from port before it was our time to embark. The rest of the cruise I have no major complaints for other than being disappointed that for my first cruise ever I never once got to experience a towel animal. That has always in my mind been a trademark of the cruising industry and it was disappointing to not have it offered to us. In the end this cruise has taught me that cruising can be a delightful and laid back way to enjoy your vacation, but NEVER in my life will I return to Norwegian. There are too many options out there for me to ever return to a company with so little organizational skills, and the inability to speak to a guest politely. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the original itinerary of Havana, Cuba which was canceled two weeks ago due to the Trump Administration. Since NCL offered to refund us for half the cruise & gave us 50% off on a future cruise, we went ahead with our plans. We weren’t that thrilled with the new ports added, Freeport& Nassau, but decided to go with it. The good things: 1. Our cabin steward, Joseph, was very good, He kept our room spotless and made sure we had clean towels and ice everyday. 2. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and accommodating. Also the manager of the Four Seasons Dining Room, Ben, was superb & checked on us every evening. 3. The food in the dining rooms were good, overall. 4. The comedian and the “Rock You Tonight” entertainment staff were really good. The bad things: 1. The buffet was horrible. It even smelled bad in there. It was a free for all with folks shoving each other, kids everywhere. The food was awful & the layout of the buffet was terrible. After one lunch there, we never returned. 2. Not enough to do on the ship. Sometimes we were really bored. It was pretty disappointing. 3. I was charged for items taken from the mini bar. Apparently, the day before we left, someone from the staff comes in and locks the mini bar & takes the bottled water that can be purchased. They charged us for water that we didn’t open or drink. After complaining twice a guest services, they removed the charge. 4. Computer system failed at check in which delayed boarding the ship 3 hours. Long lines of hungry unhappy passengers....not a good way to start the cruise. 5. Really poor tv channel choices. 6. Shopping on the ship was not really good. We had $150 shipboard credit & really had difficulty finding things we wanted to purchase. This was only our third cruise, but the worst by far. The other two were on Royal Caribbean. I would say we weren’t that impressed by NCL. Read Less

Insane No Make up mirror available No shrimp cocktail anywhere. Was told they will not serve it any longer. Unacceptable Wait staff just plain not accommodating to my wants and needs in main dining room. Room floors were worn and soiled Premium drinks now popped up to Super premium Entire cruise was an over priced Onion soup was half a cup with the cheese just dabbed on top. Was told I’d have to eat at the La Bistro to get real baked onion soup Still no martinis available in main dining room Ordered steak median rare. Came well done. Order no spices no garlic no peppercorn. Not only was there peppercorn on the steak it was also on tomato and sweet potatoes. Fish was was dry but everything around it was very oily. 3 1/2 Ordered a shrimp and arugula salad for lunch. Lots of arugula and three super small one inch shrimps. Are they kidding me French Restaurant was fantastic. Top food and even better service. So far for brunch in main dining room I’m waiting 33 minutes for my cappuccino coffee. Are they trying their best to keep me off Norwegian. French specialty restaurant was great. Great wait staff. Great food. Should have eaten there every night. Bottom line was way too expensive for a third rate ship. Norwegian should be ashamed of them selves. Seriously ! Was planning another cruise to Hawaii. Will never again sail Norwegian. They cut my internet off at 10 pm the night before departure even though I paid for it until Friday morning. Sucks. Had to go to the front desk to print my boarding passes. Toilet seat in room was disgusting. Urine stains embedded. Ask cabin Stewart to change it which they did. Just wondering how many other folks sat on it and never said anything. Spirit Air was good. On time both ways. Will try my best to stay away from them also. Coulda flown AA first class by the time I paid for the upgrades. Nothing to do with the cruise itself. Just an extra $1,000 or so dollars to get to the port plus overnight accommodations and transfers. Read Less

Some even survived for several days. Needless to say, the first day was shockingly bad. I am not sure what could have been done differently, but this was outrageously bad. Key West is a lovely place. Many things to do and see. This ship has a bizarre policy requiring tender tickets for a walk off port?!? Luckily we had an excursion and did not have to deal with that. This port stop was far too short. Havana is the opposite of Key West. It was Dirty, smelly, and had wild dogs inside the port! Water in the harbor is very dark due to pollution. Cobblestone courtyard across the street had brown, fetid liquid in between each stone. We took a tour in an antique auto, the driver could not speak English, but he was polite. The ship was in port overnight, it was such a waste. Food in the buffet was “different”, the themes (Asian, Latin) were attempted but they did not succeed. The basics offered late night in the great outdoors were excellent. Sports bar did not show playoff games- very odd things were on instead. Comedian (Jeff Nease) was the highlight of the trip, both shows were extraordinary. Win a cruise bingo was in the Bliss lounge, (far too small) and at the same time as the Latitudes party. Room steward was excellent, he made towel animals every night! He worked very hard to clean up after the bug situation. The ship had a Cuba shop that allowed for purchase of souvenirs. Disembarkation was swift and efficient. Read Less

Chose this cruise to getaway for a quick birthday trip. Purchased a balcony room which came with 2 of their “extra” offers. Selected unlimited beverage package and $50 onshore excursion credit. The following day, after reviewing the excursion options, we called customer service and they happily switched us from the $50 excursion credit to the 100 minute WiFi package. Upon arrival at the terminal, the associate checked us in and was sending us on our way. We stopped her to ask what we needed to do to utilize our unlimited beverage package. She pointed to our room keys and advised we would just show those when ordering beverages. Fast forward to later that day and we are ordering drinks at the bar and the bar-tender isn’t asking us for our cards. We brushed it off thinking that maybe they give everyone free drinks on the first night or something to that effect. By the next day we notice that they are still not asking for our cards and as we watch other guests go to the bar, they aren’t being asked either. This was the day that we spent at Great Stirrup Cay so we went on about our business and had a nice time. The following day, we finally decide to go to Guest Services and ask them why we aren’t being asked for our cards. We are told that this cruise is all-inclusive. Obviously, we are frustrated because we used one of our two freebies to have unlimited drinks. We were also aggravated that the customer service associate we originally spoke to when we change our freebie from the excursion credit to the WiFi and the associate that checked us in at the port never mentioned that the cruise was all-inclusive and we would get almost all available drinks on board. Come to find out, our freebie just gets us access to bottled water, Red Bull, coffee, drinks in excess of $15... none of which we needed. We kindly asked the guest services associate if they could give us a $25 credit towards 1 photo or allow us to go to a specialty dining that night (that was one of the other freebie options). We were told no, that they had no ability to make any changes like that on the ship. We would need to wait and speak with customer service once we returned back to Port Canaveral. We expressed concern that if we waited until we were off of the ship, what would they really be able to do to help us. They assured us that they would submit a case under our file with their recommendation as to how the issue might be resolved. Fast forward to the next day as we disembark and we call the customer service number and surprise surprise there is no case or any details documenting the conversations we had with the guest services associates. After approximately 1 hour on the phone and demanding to speak with someone (they wanted us to email them) they transferred us to the sole associate who could assist with these issues (cruise coordinator) (not sure what that means) and we had to leave a voicemail. 6 hours later we receive a return call from this associate who offered to reimburse us for the $32 in service fees/gratuity that we paid for this package. We thanked her for that but asked that something be credited to reimburse us for the 2nd free amenity that we were supposed to get but didn’t. She said that there was absolutely nothing they could do. After arguing for close to 15 minutes, she said that we could submit a case on the website but that it takes up to 15 business days and it would ultimately come back to her, she would add a few details and forward to her supervisor who would automatically decline to do anything for us. She refused to allow us to speak with her supervisor. We didn’t ask for much. We said that if they would even credit the $25 picture that we purchased, that would suffice. They said no. What makes that more frustrating is that when you go to the photo gallery to view and purchase photos, they print every single one out as an 8x10. We only purchased 1, meaning they will be disposing of over 50 photos of us. But they are not willing to just refund one $25 photo as though they handed us one picture for free?! Doesn’t make sense. Rewinding to the evening that we addressed these concerns with the guest services desk, we had paperwork in hand to participate in Norwegian’s “CruiseNext” program which allows you to place a deposit on a future cruise and earn an onboard credit. We explained that if they couldn’t do something to show they cared about our issue, we wouldn’t cruise with Norwegian ever again. They along with the associate at the call center both essentially said “Oh well”. If you are looking for a company with terrible customer service and no desire to make things right, Norwegian is the brand for you. The food selection was very repetitive each night and underwhelming. There were minimal activities to do on this cruise. They had various talks about how to shop in the Bahamas but couldn’t think of more creative activities for their guests. We were willing to overlook both of those flaws as we knew going in that we were selecting a shorter and not as luxurious ship as some of the other ships that Norwegian offers. Outside of this, our particular stateroom was good, our steward was very nice, but we did not receive the full incentive value for what we paid. Customer service is huge in our book. If you treat us like a valued customer, we will return. If something goes wrong, as long as the company makes an effort to fix it, we are fine. A company that refuses to fix something by giving us $25 value for something that we could have had a $100 value and is willing to lose potentially thousands of dollars from one family alone, clearly shows they have no care in the world about their customers. We will tell our loved ones to choose another cruise line to make their special memories, we will not sail with Norwegian again. Read Less

This was my 5th Norwegian Cruise, previous 4 were on other ships. The Sun was disappointing; service and amenities were below what I enjoyed on other Norwegian ships. I was in a suite which has always included water and liquor in the room, but not on the Sun! Had to pay extra for bottled water. Many of the bars were never opened. So, yes, they claim unlimited drinks, but hard time finding one on the Sun. The pool and hottub area was surrounded by a low redwood wall. Very ugly and not sure of the purpose. There were no openings, you had to CRAWL OVER the wall to access the pool or hot tubs. The entire area was bland and unattractive. The staff was not as friendly or helpful, slow service in restaurants and bars. Staff seemed to forget that the customer comes first, always trying to change what was promised with the excuse it's beyond their control. Very disappointed in their customer service and the Sun. Diagnosed with Leukemia so figured I should check off some bucket list items quickly, always wanted to see Cuba, the Bahamas and Miami and figured this would knock out them in one shot. That being said, Cuba was beautiful but could've used more time there. Miami was nice, a lot to see and do. The Bahamas, well, not so great. Come to find out it was owned by Norwegian and like the cruise itself, not great! Sad thing was we paid so much for the trip and was seriously let down. The cruise itself seemed to go smooth and the drinks were good although a little slow at times. We paid for the premium package, top shelf alcohol/food but as I said before the drinks were fine but the food was not so and sadly enough, I had to spend nearly an hour of our vacation at the service desk straightening out all the food and alcohol charges they padded my bill with. WHAT?? Thank goodness an experienced cruiser tipped my wife and I off to that problem or we'd have to deal with that at checkout which was chaotic. To add, we went with friends who also stated they had similar issues? Anyhow, I prefer to think that the cup is always half full and not half empty and may e if things go well with my treatments I'll try it again. Just my two cents! God bless y'all and stay positive!! This was our 21st cruise, so we are not novices. We also aren't overly demanding and understand that things won't always go as smoothly as we would like. We chose this cruise for the itinerary...5 nts with 36 hours in Havana. This was our 3rd NCL cruise, but the last had been over 10 years ago. We had heard that the NCL experience had declined significantly, but were shocked at the extremely poor service and apathetic attitude of the crew. The ship is in good condition and our balcony cabin very nice. When we arrived at our cabins (we were traveling with my brother and his wife who also a balcony cabin but on the other side of the ship, so a different cabin steward), we both discovered that our bathrooms had been used and not recleaned. Our shower had personal products left behind, the shower curtain was very sour smelling and there was a used towel near the sink. Our friend's shower had a used wash cloth hanging conspicuously in it. Disgusting. We had the premium plus beverage package which includes most drinks including top shelf liquor. We quickly discovered we could consume mixed drinks all day long and never feel the slightest effects of alcohol (if you want any alcohol at all ask for a floater). We aren't big drinkers, but still. We tried several different bars around the ship and could order the exact same drink by name from the menu and it was made totally different every single time...different color, different taste, different everything. Additionally, it took an average of 10-20 minutes to get our drinks once the order was placed...again...every single time. The Garden Cafe buffet menu and food were average but we always had to find someone to clean a table as there were very few workers (max of 2 per very large section) and they moved in slow motion and with great apathy. More than once we had to ask that a dirty table be wiped after the used dishes were removed, and once I had to ask that the whole table be wiped and not just the part in front of me. The worst service encountered was in the main dining rooms. Very slow service, orders taken and food served reaching across the table, and one waiter took my brother's order standing about three feet back at a 45 degree angle behind his shoulder making him practically yell his order by twisting his neck around. The food was less than average with one fish dish that smelled like dirty socks being totally inedible. I ordered hot tea during the entree one evening and was told I couldn't get any until coffee was served with dessert. We ate in the Brazilian steakhouse restaurant one night and did have excellent service there but after my husband paid a cash gratuity for all four of us (more than 20%), my brother discovered a $10 gratuity on his statement at the end of the week that was not on his receipt after dinner. We also ate at Cagney's which was very good. We were careful to order wine that was included with our beverage package (the bottles on the menu with stars next to them) and our bills reflected no charge at the end of the meal. However, we were charged for two $42 bottles of wine on our week's end statement. My husband addressed it with the purser and was told it happens all the time. Seriously? We only had to tender once, but that was frustrating as well. We were at Great Stirrup Cay where there is a local tender boat rather than using the ship's life boats. We disembarked well after the point where tender tickets were required. We got on the almost full boat and thought "Great! This won't take long!" Wrong. It started to drizzle rain (not a storm and no lightening), so some passengers decided to get off. Apparently they won't leave until the tender is completely full so we had to sit another 20 minutes and wait for more passengers to slowly arrive. My brother and his wife took a later tender and had to wait over 30 minutes for it to fill up. Our take-away is that NCL is banking on their beverage package and people's perception of free, unlimited booze to bring passengers. We want to feel valued when we pay someone hundreds and even thousands of dollars depending on the cruise to give us a vacation we love and will remember fondly. As NCL did not ask for customer comments at the end of the cruise we can only assume they do not care. Fortunately for us, we know what other cruise lines offer so we know not to sail NCL again. We booked a NCL cruise because it came highly recommended by past cruisers of NCL, past passengers on the Sun, as well as NCL crew that we are friends with. We love cruises because of the ease of travel as well as a general expectation of superb service. Unfortunately, we did not find this on our cruise on the Sun. Once we arrived at the terminal we were met by a porter who was extremely rude and said "for $10 I may not lose your bag on the pier" after we had tipped him $5 for 2 bags. We had a hard time getting answers after we booked on what our specialty dining package got us. We only found out that it was just 2 meals once we got to the check in desk and not 5 that our deal was supposed to have. Check in was smooth after our questions were answered. The waiting area for boarding was very hot and there was big containers that looked like they were for water, tea, lemonade, etc but were not filled. Once on board we were sent around the outside of the ship on deck 6 and we were trying to find the easiest way to get to the buffet but we couldn't find any staff that could point us in the right direction after the security staff checking guests onto the ship. Once we wandered around and found the buffet, a lot of the food was out and was not being refilled. This was right around 1pm while everyone was trying to eat. The line was not organized at all which led to confusion and some other passengers getting hostile with one another. We decided to go to a bar to let the craziness at the buffet die down but were only met with more confusion. This trend with the bar staff seemed to continue though out the entire cruise. We had the premium beverage package so we should have had access to basically all liquor on board. The bartenders seemed to have no idea what the Premium package consisted of verses what everyone else on board got. We were denied things that were clearly stated on the list of premium list multiple times. Along with the bar scenario, the idea of all passengers getting open bar ended up being pretty miserable (New Ship's all inclusive model). This led to all of the bars being impossible to get to especially the pool bars. It wasn't until the last day at sea that the crew started putting out more little cart bars to handle the load. We understand that the dining situation on NCL is different than the other cruise lines that we have experienced but the dinning experience we had, overall, was pretty bad. The servers we had in the Seven Seas dining room were all poor (Minus the guy we had the last night, Arjun). On 3 different occasions (1 dinner, 2 breakfasts) we waiting 10+ minutes to be approached by a waiter after being sat. Once being sat, it seemed that we were an annoyance for not having or entire order ready even before speaking to the server. We were told we could only have either the house red or white wine (despite having the beverage package) on 2 different nights. Food was never great in the main dining room. Either not hot or could tell had been under a warmer getting soggy for a while. We ate at Cagney's steakhouse one night. The porterhouse steak I had was actually not as good as the sirloin I had in the main dining room. Steak was ordered medium rare and came medium well/well done. It had already taken a long time to get our food so we didn't bother sending it back. We did, however, have a great experience at Teppanyaki. Food was great. Atmosphere was great and the service was the glimmer of good service we had onboard. Another disappointing experience was the pool and chairs on the pool deck. There was no where near enough chairs to support the amount of people that wanted chairs. People were going out and setting up towels on chairs before 7am and leaving them there all day and never showing up despite the literature saying that you cannot reserve chairs for longer than 30mins. When we asked the crew about this they said "there is nothing that we can do". There ended up being people laying on the ground and sitting against walls due to the lack of chairs. We ended up seeing multiple confrontations between passengers over chairs. The worst experience of the trip was the tendering situation to Harvest Caye. We were in group 7 to tender off the ship and were not about to get off the ship until 12:30p after being anchored since 7a. Once our tender group was called we still had to wait in the stair case on the way down to Deck 3 for 45 mins. Once we were on the island (1:30p) everything was so crazy expensive ($10 for a bottle of beer on the beach from an approved vendor). We were told that the last tender back was at 5:30p so we arrived back to the tender pier at 4:30p to make sure we had plenty of time. We were met with a line that weaved through the entire shopping village area. We ended up waiting a total of 55 minutes to get onto a tender back to the boat. This is absolutely insane and the tender situation definitely ruined our experience in Harvest Caye. Finally, our flights were booked through NCL and our flight down was fine arriving in MIA around 10a. Our flight back however was booked for 5pm out of FLL. With the last time to disembark being 9am, we were left to sit in the waiting area of the airport all day waiting for a flight. Once our flight was assigned, I reached out to NCL to see if we could get our flight moved up to a sooner time but were told that it wasn't possible even though Delta's website showing plenty of availability for the same price on earlier flights. The entire experience with NCL was super disappointing because we had such high hopes for cruising a new cruise line. What is the most disappointing is that the ship (Sun) was in amazing condition. We loved how clean and updated the ship and staterooms (Balcony) were as well. The layout of the ship was very nice as well as the lounges being inviting and fun atmospheres. The Great Outdoors Dining area is an awesome feature where we spent a lot of time. The service on board, however, dwarfed all of these nice amenities. It just seemed that no one in the crew had any idea what was going and that there was mass confusion at all times and in result led to us feeling that we were an afterthought or annoyance to the crew. 1.Excursions were poor: a. One poor English-speaking guide without a microphone for 40 people If your in the back of the bus you hear nothing. b. Excursions were not as advertised. I paid over $260 to go to an island to get pictures of South American birds but we never got on the island we were to go to and I feel very cheated. c. The setup for boarding excursions is poorly organized. They tell you to meet in the ship's auditorium at a certain time and then have wait for almost a hour before your tour is called for disembarking. I was the first to show up but was often the last to get out of the room for lack of tour directors organization skills. 2.Overall,the entertainment was good. The best entertainment on the ship was the three classical string players yet they were never given a space to handle the crowds who wanted to hear them. Furthermore, they were put next a bar with loud speaking and sometimes intoxicated people which totally destroyed the listening experience even if you could find a seat. 3. The food was mediocre at best! The head chef should be fired. He provided the the worst entree choices I have ever had on a cruse ( I have been on 15). The onion soup was little more than hot water ( I found no onions nor cheese). Thank goodness, the bred and desert chefs were excellent. 4. You need to have a setup for (equipment, lines and nets) for pickle ball. It is the fastest growing sport for seniors. 5.The cabin and dinning room service was excellent! 6. Bridge instruction and play was enjoyable, however, we were assigned to a play in an area with only small tables. Read Less

My mother's friend chose the cruise. My husband and I came along to help my 89-yr-old mother. The cruise started in San Antonio, Chile and ended in Miami. We had two additional stops in Chile, two in Peru, one in Ecuador, one in Costa Rica and one in Columbia. There were shore excursions available in all the ports, but we prefer to walk around and go geocaching. Often there were locals selling wonderful crafted items from little tents right on the pier. They want cash in US dollars, but most items only cost a few dollars. Take along a bunch of ones and fives. The guest services desk will also break a twenty for you. There is and ATM at the casino if you need more cash. The ship provided a free shuttle to get us out of the port area, but in Peru ports they dropped us off in an unsafe location. We could either pay a taxi to take us to a safe location for walking or biking or get back on the shuttle and go to the ship. There were police to make sure we did not wander off on our own. At the second Peru port we did paid extra to take a bus to Trujillo. We could not use our shore excursion credits for this shuttle, however! It was the same thing in Columbia. We were disappointed that we paid to be able to see the ports and Norwegian wouldn't deliver us to a safe place onshore. One of our shore excursions was overbooked and they ran out of food by the time they got to our table. We were offered 50% off that tour. In Costa Rica, there was a very steep ramp and several stairs to get back on the ship. That was a problem as three of our party of seven were physically challenged. The staff will come help you, but you need to ask. They don't volunteer. The food was great, as usual. We used both main dining rooms and the buffet. The waiters were mostly attentive. We found you can request a particular waiter (ask for Mac) and he will remember your preferences. There did not seem to be a lot of folks who wanted to share tables although that was available if you ask when you arrive at the dining room. We liked the anytime dining as we are early eaters. Our cabin was a handicap cabin for my mother. It was a little crowded for three people. Our steward, Juevan, was excellent! Even though Norwegian is discontinuing the towel animals, he made a new one for us every night. He also brought ice to the room when requested. Having had a more pleasant experience on Princess, I suspect we'll be sailing with them in the future. We've been to Alaska and the Caribbean with Princess. They were more attentive during the pre-cruise phase and the shore excursions were better planned. The ports were safer and the ramps to and from the ship was handicap accessible. Read Less

Restroom stall doors held on with electrical wire ties(casino men's room). Mens room at The Windjammer had a hole in the wall covered by cardboard and duct tape. Every other NCL cruise we have been on while in port they cleaned the windows not on the Sun! Water spots on most of our pictures. The windows were either dirty or there were numerous window fogged from loss of vacuum! We made reservations for ten in different resteraunts and many times they sitted us at different tables when there were large settings available and were not used while we were there! Shame on NCL! We are looking to cruise Australia and New Zealand later this year and we( all 5 couples) are not sure we will chose NCL this time! One bright spot was Freddie the Bartender at the Champayne Bar! Back to Back from Miami to San Antonio and San Antonio to Buenos Aires. Best cruise(s) we have ever taken. Ship was excellent … clean, spotless, correct passenger size (about 2000 people), friendly crew, excellent food, calm, peaceful and simply the best. Celebrated Christmas and New Years on ship and they had special dining AND special celebrations for both holidays. Cruise Director (Adriano) and his Assistant (Guido) were HUGELY ANNOYING .. did their jobs but had enough of both of them after Day 1. Trip through Panama Canal was most interesting as they had a narrative going through the entire 48 miles of locks. Excellent dialogue and very insightful. Ports of call were mostly great (no reason for Santa Marta and Manta) and we booked 90% of our excursions ahead of time through outside vendors. As a part of the Cruise Critic Group, we were designated a special person, Julia from Ukraine, who escorted us off the ship prior to anybody else embarking AT EACH PORT. This was absolutely the best as we were able to make all excursions without any delay. A BIG THANKS TO JULIA!!! Dont Miss any of the penguin stops ... Punta Arenas, Stanley and Puerto Madryn. Expensive to see but so well worth it! We booked with SoloExpediciones (Punta Arenas) and Jimmy Curtis (Falklands) and in Puerto Madryn (sorry - forgot vendor). Cant say enough positive things about these trips. Jimmy Curtis in Falklands had an excellent driver named Steve ... try for him if you can. Although the Norwegian Sun has been recently renovated, they have a serious problem with proper ventilation. Smoke from the casino and designated smoking areas infiltrated the public areas of the ship. Why do they put designated smoking areas near the pool and over the aft eating area? It makes no sense. We felt that we could not get away from the smell of smoke. For whatever reason, Norwegian did not have my correct credit card number. I did not know this until three days into the voyage, when I received a curt letter informing me, "your onboard account has been deactivated and your signing privileges have been suspended." I am a Platinum member of Norwegian and found this shockingly offensive! How about a little courtesy; maybe something like, "Would you kindly come to Guest Services at your earliest convenience regarding the credit card we have on record for you." This kind of interaction with a longtime loyal guest is a surefire way to lose a customer. My next cruise will not be on Norwegian; I've just booked with Viking. This cruise had six sea days. There should be a far bigger selection of movies available to watch on television. There were only two movie channels and the same movies were recycled over and over and over again. Also, instead of the TV being mounted in front of the bed, it was way over to the right side of the cabin, which made watching in bed very uncomfortable. The Cruise Director had such a strong accent that we could hardly understand any of his announcements. This could be a safety issue in an emergency. Read Less

I know this is an older ship, but I wasn't expecting to have to endure toxic fumes from adhesive as they were laying new carpeting on the main stairs. They also had to access our cabin balcony to paint it, which left the balcony inaccessible while scraping and painting the balcony. I never met our cabin steward and I never encountered anyone who I felt went out of their way to be friendly and/or accommodating. The bathroom has a horrible hair dryer that is permanently attached to the bathroom wall, but I asked at the guest services desk for a regular hair dryer and one was delivered to my cabin. The food was the worst I've ever had on a cruise. I had difficulty finding something to eat for lunch every day and often my dinner entree was dry and tasteless. The desserts were awful. We traveled with another couple, and they were not happy about the meals, either. In the airport on the way home, I talked with a woman who'd just been on the Jade and she said the food wasn't very good there, either. After hearing this, I'm hesitant about cruising with NCL again. I originally chose the Norwegian Sun for the 10 night Panama Canal cruise because I really wanted to go to the Panama Canal and I had been to a lot of other ports in the Caribbean but none of these ones . Prior to this cruise I have been on it many other cruises in different cruise lines.this is my second time sailing with Norwegian, I’ve sailed with princess four times, carnival wants and, Holland America once. The embarkation process was easy then we got to our room unpacked and decided to have something to eat . The food is OK for the most part in flavor in the dining room is not really great in the buffet it’s sort of all the same and very average. The biggest problem I found with this whole trip is that nobody pays attention to when you have loads of dirty dishes on your table and they don’t clean them up promptly even if you remind them then they pass the buck off to somebody else. They don’t come to check on you I eat into see the quality of the food or to see if you’re happy with it and they definitely don’t come to ask if you want refills on your drinks they will take the initial order and that’s it . The shows were super painful to watch the comedian Johnny was not funny at all the magician dizzy seemed very scattered on stage although he had some good magic in the end he needs to figure out his performance to act glass all over the place the Whitney Houston in person or was amazing and the shows done by their the Norwegian Dancers were very good. Norwegian is very well known for their selling aspect they are constantly trying to sell you things among all the cruise lines I’ve been on the bingo prizes the tournament prices and most of the other fees were higher than I’ve ever experienced. A bottle of water or require you to mortgage your house. The drink package cost $1500 and does not even include bottled water. Los Lagos cantina was delicious probably the highlight of all the food on my trip I was very disappointed to find out the dining room did not do anything special no lobster dinner no crab dinner no filet mignonette...nothing special at all all of their dinners were very below average. When I have sailed with princess in the past on the breakfast menu they have all of their usual consistencies but they do have one feature in the morning every day Norwegian had none of that it was just the same the average time we spent in the dining room for dinner by the time we got our entrées was over 2 1/2 hours so in order to get the 9 PM show you would need to go to dinner by 630. The Internet manager was so rude because I spent 13 minutes of my Internet time trying to access one website he said to me “what do you expect we are in the middle of the sea with ocean surrounding us and there’s going to be slowdowns” The cabins are decent and my room steward was good however he annoyed the piss out of me when he unplugged all of the cords and electronics every time he came around this caused a huge fight between my sister and I because every time he would unplug the cable he would just put it wherever and then our items would get mixed up.I hate that Norwegian still has salt water pools why can’t they be like princess cruises and have a freshwater price how much more difficult is that? The fitness center was beautiful however they don’t have professionals teaching the classes we were taught one of the body Boot Camp classes by somebody who very similarly resembled Hitler he was awful did not take the time to show us techniques of modification and he didn’t care about whether you got injured or not one of which my family member did get injured. I am putting a poor score for the shore excursions not because they very bad they were very good most of them except for the horse and buggy ride in Columbia the problem is with the price thankfully I had a $50 credit per port, but how did I’ve not been for that credit I would’ve been paying almost $200 for the ones that I wanted to do ridiculous if you ask me. Finally our cabin which was supposed to be ocean view room was a picture window but it faced the promenade deck which I guess if you like it does face the ocean but you have to go through the promenade deck and you have to keep your curtains closed all the time because people are constantly walking past your window. All in all I was able to enjoy my vacation because of the porch that we went to in the family that I was spending time with but I definitely gave Norweigan a shot twice now and both times they were disappointed Read Less

We selected this cruise because it went to both Cuba and Panama Canal. Overall we enjoyed the sailing and some of the ports, but the cruise line, the staff, the ship and meal service were all disappointing. After booking, the flood of emails to upgrade, promote, and generally aggravate were endless. The constant gotcha extras which ran up the total cruise cost several thousand dollars a big surprise. The ship was not maintained that well. its older, and supposedly renovated recently seemed ragged in a lot of areas. The rooms where smaller than we have experienced on other cruise line ships. The PA system was lousy so you could not hear most of the announcements. Much of the crew seemed to not know much about the ship. We asked quesitons, they would tell you the wrong answer or have to ask someone else. Many of the crew were not friendly at all, uncharacteristic of mosh ships we have been on. Even the Cruise Director, who made all the anouncements had such broken English, he could hardly be understood. Food service: While there was a lot of food, like most ships, the dinning room service was very slow. Some meals where good and some where "bad". Most of the menu stayed the same day-to-day - boring. Most meals seemed like they where prepared in advance, rather than plated for your order. The buffet food was also generally dissappointing, Much of the hot food was cold or dried out from sitting to long. They used powered eggs at the omelet bar. And much more! Lots of other small disappointments, to numerous to list here!!! Read Less
