Freestyle everything. Open bar. Upgrade to Cagneys for one night. Didn’t have to sign for anything. Staff outstanding. Cleanliness of ship outstanding. Very organized. Never waited for anything. Disembarkation well organized and quick. Can’t say enough positive about this cruise. Will do again. Used our balcony quite frequently. Did not go to shows. Did not do excursions. Took a taxi to Atlantis. Did not do the aquarium at Atlantis as we thought it was too expensive. If you get upgraded liquor package go to Windjammer bar as they have nice sipping scotch. Buffet breakfast had everything you want. The only item they did not have anywhere on ship was cookies. The ship had a lot of younger clientele which was refreshing. Looking to do a Xmas cruise with Norwegian. After doing the freestyle I will never do traditional cruise again. We took a few one dollar bills for tips. Staff very appreciative. Read Less

I had a wonderful experience aboard the Norwegian Sun. Hospitality was excellent. There were many activities onboard that we enjoyed each day. The dining, bar, and room staff were extremely helpful and friendly . I would recommend this cruise to all! Great Stirrup Cay was the highlight of my trip. The food was amazing, and the island was beautiful. We enjoyed the open bar on both the ship and the island. The ship was in great condition. There was easy access to pools, entertainment and dining. The Assistant Cruise Director, Mauricio always provided outstanding entertainment. My daughter had a great time dancing in the Bliss Ultra Lounge. I particularly enjoyed watching the game shows from the lounge area on my room television late in the evening. It was as if I was able to experience all the amenities the cruise had to offer. I would love to cruise aboard the Norwegian again! Read Less

Decide on a mini weekend break, we choose the Norwegian Sun itinerary to Bahamas. We did the online Upgrade Cabin and was fortunate to succeed, we were in a group booking, so little confused at first as it was only us that received the upgrade, bit mis-leading. Should make it clear, it’s per room not booking. Boarded ship at 12noon, had to wait until 1:30pm when rooms would be ready, luggage arrived somewhat hour after, not bad considering it was full. The ship was spotlessly clean, people & some crew friendly. The choice of bars and restaurants were excellent. The Buffett food was excellent, good quality and plenty of eating stations. The Four Seasons Main restaurant was nice and relaxed setting, until our last night. The evening entertainment was ok, the show on the Saturday was good and the ‘White Party’ was brilliant. The piano bar and Bliss lounge we’re good, excellent bar staff service. Had a couple of issues with cabin and a member of staff in the Four Seasons Restaurant, after waiting over an hour for our main meal to be told go and eat somewhere else were busy! Not the kind of comment I expected when I only asked did he know when the main would arrive. All-In-all had a great time. Read Less

Chose this cruise to getaway for a quick birthday trip. Purchased a balcony room which came with 2 of their “extra” offers. Selected unlimited beverage package and $50 onshore excursion credit. The following day, after reviewing the excursion options, we called customer service and they happily switched us from the $50 excursion credit to the 100 minute WiFi package. Upon arrival at the terminal, the associate checked us in and was sending us on our way. We stopped her to ask what we needed to do to utilize our unlimited beverage package. She pointed to our room keys and advised we would just show those when ordering beverages. Fast forward to later that day and we are ordering drinks at the bar and the bar-tender isn’t asking us for our cards. We brushed it off thinking that maybe they give everyone free drinks on the first night or something to that effect. By the next day we notice that they are still not asking for our cards and as we watch other guests go to the bar, they aren’t being asked either. This was the day that we spent at Great Stirrup Cay so we went on about our business and had a nice time. The following day, we finally decide to go to Guest Services and ask them why we aren’t being asked for our cards. We are told that this cruise is all-inclusive. Obviously, we are frustrated because we used one of our two freebies to have unlimited drinks. We were also aggravated that the customer service associate we originally spoke to when we change our freebie from the excursion credit to the WiFi and the associate that checked us in at the port never mentioned that the cruise was all-inclusive and we would get almost all available drinks on board. Come to find out, our freebie just gets us access to bottled water, Red Bull, coffee, drinks in excess of $15... none of which we needed. We kindly asked the guest services associate if they could give us a $25 credit towards 1 photo or allow us to go to a specialty dining that night (that was one of the other freebie options). We were told no, that they had no ability to make any changes like that on the ship. We would need to wait and speak with customer service once we returned back to Port Canaveral. We expressed concern that if we waited until we were off of the ship, what would they really be able to do to help us. They assured us that they would submit a case under our file with their recommendation as to how the issue might be resolved. Fast forward to the next day as we disembark and we call the customer service number and surprise surprise there is no case or any details documenting the conversations we had with the guest services associates. After approximately 1 hour on the phone and demanding to speak with someone (they wanted us to email them) they transferred us to the sole associate who could assist with these issues (cruise coordinator) (not sure what that means) and we had to leave a voicemail. 6 hours later we receive a return call from this associate who offered to reimburse us for the $32 in service fees/gratuity that we paid for this package. We thanked her for that but asked that something be credited to reimburse us for the 2nd free amenity that we were supposed to get but didn’t. She said that there was absolutely nothing they could do. After arguing for close to 15 minutes, she said that we could submit a case on the website but that it takes up to 15 business days and it would ultimately come back to her, she would add a few details and forward to her supervisor who would automatically decline to do anything for us. She refused to allow us to speak with her supervisor. We didn’t ask for much. We said that if they would even credit the $25 picture that we purchased, that would suffice. They said no. What makes that more frustrating is that when you go to the photo gallery to view and purchase photos, they print every single one out as an 8x10. We only purchased 1, meaning they will be disposing of over 50 photos of us. But they are not willing to just refund one $25 photo as though they handed us one picture for free?! Doesn’t make sense. Rewinding to the evening that we addressed these concerns with the guest services desk, we had paperwork in hand to participate in Norwegian’s “CruiseNext” program which allows you to place a deposit on a future cruise and earn an onboard credit. We explained that if they couldn’t do something to show they cared about our issue, we wouldn’t cruise with Norwegian ever again. They along with the associate at the call center both essentially said “Oh well”. If you are looking for a company with terrible customer service and no desire to make things right, Norwegian is the brand for you. The food selection was very repetitive each night and underwhelming. There were minimal activities to do on this cruise. They had various talks about how to shop in the Bahamas but couldn’t think of more creative activities for their guests. We were willing to overlook both of those flaws as we knew going in that we were selecting a shorter and not as luxurious ship as some of the other ships that Norwegian offers. Outside of this, our particular stateroom was good, our steward was very nice, but we did not receive the full incentive value for what we paid. Customer service is huge in our book. If you treat us like a valued customer, we will return. If something goes wrong, as long as the company makes an effort to fix it, we are fine. A company that refuses to fix something by giving us $25 value for something that we could have had a $100 value and is willing to lose potentially thousands of dollars from one family alone, clearly shows they have no care in the world about their customers. We will tell our loved ones to choose another cruise line to make their special memories, we will not sail with Norwegian again. Read Less

The ship and crew were exceptional, great cruise director Jamie, lots of entertainment, attention, loved the all inclusive package. We were extremely disappointed in the 2 main restaurants and the buffet, the food was terrible, the service was o.k. at best. At the Four Seasons and Seven Seas dining rooms the food came out cold, overcooked, tough and the coffee was like mud, even dessert was just o.k.. At the buffet the lines were long and the food was not up to the standard we have come to expect on a cruise. The cabin was nice and everywhere else, pub, bars night life was all fun, with good food and drink. We spent one day by the pool and the service was above and beyond what we expected. We also had the opportunity to go to two of the specialty restaurants (Mexican and French) and they were exceptional, the food was great and so was the service, the staff treated us like royalty. A friend & I decided seeing Cuba was a priority on our bucket list. Cuba was the main reason we took this cruise, Key West (which we loved) was just a bonus. UNFORTUNATELY we only saw Cuba for 6 hours, all on a bus with three half hour stops. Hardly time to see anything. The ad on the NCL website said 2 DAYS-our plan-we would do the tour on Day 1 and go back on Day 2, having decided what to visit further based on the previous day’s tour. So that was the biggest disappointment. But to the cruise itself-Planning was simple and the price was reasonable. We had a balcony cabin (aft, deck 10) which I LOVED and will definitely choose again if I cruise in the future. The staff making up our room daily were wonderful. (I asked for ice only once and had a full bucket each day-thank you -gotta stay hydrated) BEAUTIFUL room, very spacious. The food was fantastic in the complimentary restaurants, much to my surprise. The buffet was pretty good, basic fare, good breakfast variety. We paid extra for the teppanyaki dinner and it was entertaining & delicious. I’m not much of a drinker but the bars were always full ;) so must have been good. The activities on board were fine but not what I came for-there were two Trivia games which we played (first game, add some ‘fun’ questions next time, we’re not scientists) The comedian was funny and the International dance show had some real talent. I was prepared to be seasick (I brought 3 Scopolamine patches, Bonine pills & ginger candy) but wasn’t for one second. Very calm seas and/or just a great Captain. Boarding and disembarking were both seamless, just follow instructions on where to go-it’s clear NCL has it all figured out so be a good passenger, they’ll take good care of you. All in all, great cruising experience-just wish I’d seen more of Cuba. Read Less

This was my 5th Norwegian Cruise, previous 4 were on other ships. The Sun was disappointing; service and amenities were below what I enjoyed on other Norwegian ships. I was in a suite which has always included water and liquor in the room, but not on the Sun! Had to pay extra for bottled water. Many of the bars were never opened. So, yes, they claim unlimited drinks, but hard time finding one on the Sun. The pool and hottub area was surrounded by a low redwood wall. Very ugly and not sure of the purpose. There were no openings, you had to CRAWL OVER the wall to access the pool or hot tubs. The entire area was bland and unattractive. The staff was not as friendly or helpful, slow service in restaurants and bars. Staff seemed to forget that the customer comes first, always trying to change what was promised with the excuse it's beyond their control. Very disappointed in their customer service and the Sun. We decided to take this cruise to see Cuba while we had the opportunity to do so. It stared off on a bad note, when we were informed that that the 2 bottles of wine we bought and were bringing on board would costs us an additional $30. At no time were we informed that we had free onboard alcohol access to the bars/lounges. We found this out when we ordered drinks and tried to charge the drinks to our room. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful, but there were a few who acted as if we were bothering them when we asked questions. Since this was our first time cruising with Norwegian, we wanted to make sure that we didn't miss anything. We had 3 meals in the main ding room and for the most part had excellent service. However, we had a bad experience with 1 server who decided what we should order and he would not bring us what we wanted. We ended up leaving our meal. Specialty dining is definitely the way to go on this ship. Food/drinks and service were excellent. Excellent choice of shore excursions, rooms and the ship were clean at all times. Overall, this cruise was good with just a couple of bumps along the way. Read Less

Very quick cruise to investigate cabin size and placement for a future Alaskan cruise. We were impressed by the size and cleanliness of our cabin. It has been refurbished within the last year so all the items and fabrics were very nice.We did have a restaurant reservation mixup but no harm done. Cagney’s steakhouse was a very good choice the food and service was on par with the best land based steakhouses.. All the bars were very fun and we had a blast at each one. We only discovered the observation lounge on the last day but it was our favorite place. Boarding was easy and. And allowed us to check out the public areas. Disembarking could not have been any easier we had plenty of time for a breakfast and then quickly leave. We enjoyed our time at stirrup key and it was a perfect beach experience. Overall a very good cruise. Read Less

I was really excited to go on this cruise since it was my first cruise with NCL. This was my 10th cruise overall. I was happy to see that it was recently remodeled but it still lacks amenities that other competitors have. The buffet area is so small and crowded on this cruise ship and the food offerings are that of a basic cafeteria. The upgraded restaurants particularly the steak house and French restaurant are NOT worth the money. The steak house cooked my steak wrong 3 times and the French restaurant served me cold food. It was not worth the upcharge. The Italian restaurant was good and the sushi was good. The room was nice and updated and the pillows were soft and the bed was comfortable. The entertainment was okay but again subpar to its competitors. The NCL owned island was pretty and offered lunch but that about it. The excursions on this island are extremely high and I feel they take advantage of the cruisers especially since they own the island. There is no shopping at this port if you are a shopper. Its more of a lounging day if that is your thing. The comedian was not very good and again i've seen better on other ships. I feel this cruise line is for cruise beginners or those looking for a cheap get away. Its definitely not for the avid cruiser and definitely not worth the dining package upgrades they offer. Spend a few more bucks and get a memorable experience in another line. Read Less
