I will start my review by saying my wife and I are 60, a little plus and minus. We have been on about 30 cruises with most of our time spent on Celebrity ships. Except for the Paul Gauguin, this was our first entry in what I expected to be the high-end cruise market. I have to start by giving the crew of this ship the highest possible praise. Not sure how Regent makes it happen, but I believe that every crew member we ran in to actually loved their job and wanted you to feel 100% pampered. The service was absolutely fantastic in every way and everyone was so nice. The other thing that made the cruise nice was the all inclusive nature of the cruise. If you stay out of the spa and shops there is really no reason to spend one dime on the cruise. They even have a tremendous selection of movies on demand in the room for those times you just want to kick back. I will say that although there is no tipping required, with the level of service you get, you will want to tip and we gave money to numerous people around the ship in addition to our normal room stewards and bartenders. In general the ship is old, but it does have a level of elegance that we enjoyed. It was like going back in time a bit when we first started cruising. I will say that the vibration that everyone talks about was worse than expected. Read my comment under room for that piece, but I would never take this ship across the big oceans again. I did like the layout of the ship and it was unusual with the main dining room in the middle of the ship and everything else at the back of the ship to include the show lounge. It had some nice touches like a putting green on the front of the ship and ping pong table on one floor. The pool is a salt water pool and since the ocean was cold, no one used the pool. My wife and I and maybe one other couple used the hot tub which are fresh water and were nice. My wife enjoyed two massages in the spa and liked those. They are a little pricey so watch for the specials. Internet was OK for email and messaging, but not for streaming or sending pictures. Entertainment was good, but just let me say that with the average age of passengers at or above 70, most of the entertainment was like being stuck in an elevator for 16 days. Need I say more so practice up on your ball room dancing. Ports were great and the shore excursions were on par with what you would normally pay for except these were free. The groups seemed smaller as well which was nice. This may be a result of the mobility of many of the passengers. Embarkation was easy, but debarkation was supposed to start at 7:00 AM, but did not start until around 8:15 AM. So what are my complaints? First, except for the service I mentioned, everything was average to poor. This would be fine except when you put it in the value for your money category the price is way too high for what you get. Even in the Prime 7, reservations required restaurant the food was average at best and the lobster and crab tasted old and watered down from being frozen for so long. They missed the mark on many normal recipes. My wife planned to send them in a couple because we were not sure what they were making in some cases. My advice is to try things you have never had so you have no preconceived expectation. Finally I am going to end with my pet peeve, “Water Quality”. Every ship I have been on has said that the water out of the tap is better then water out of the bottle. After the brown and yellow water that came out of our taps we were told to not drink it. How can you pay this kind of money pour a bath that looks like diarrhea water? They did make it better by replacing filters twice outside our room, but really? They go through so much bottled water that they literally have pallets of water stored on the back decks where passengers should be able to go, but I assume for safety they are limited to crew only. So in the end, if you want a cruise to snooze, read a book or two and eat average food, this is the one for you. For me and the money spent, I think I will try something else because I do not see Regent as an upscale cruise line, just an all-inclusive one. Read Less

Just completed a 12 day cruise on the Navigator and was very disappointed. We had sailed on Regent before (although 20 years ago); our most recent trips had been mostly on Crystal, and our expectations were very high. First of all, the ship is very old....definitely at the end of its life in spite of a major refurbishment just three years ago. There is a musty/moldy smell in many areas of the ship (my wife is highly allergic to mold), and there are many signs of aging, including malfunctioning A/C in many of the cabins. Service was mostly perfunctory, at best. This may be, in part, due to the fact that this was a segment of their "World Cruise" (nearly half the ship as on for over 130 days), so non-World Cruisers were definitely second-class citizens. The staff would fawn over the World Travelers, but, other than our stewardess, no one seemed to know our names. Communication was extremely poor. The cruise director, Jamie, seemed to be mostly MIA. He was even absent for the opening meeting with all new guests...just a voice over the speaker. My experience on this ship has made me rethink ever cruising on Regent again. I am writing this review after a 3 day pre-cruise itinerary in Hong Kong and first full day, while fresh in my mind. I will add further updates. The airport pickup and transfer well, even though they were not prepared for 4 people with 2 pieces of luggage with carryons each (although that is what we told them we would have). The Langham Hotel was excellent in all aspects - location, rooms, breakfast provided. The first day tour was just hotel transfer to the hotel, but we booked our own private tour which was great. Day 2 with Regent was really sub-par, made worse by rainy, cloudy weather. Nevertheless, we stuck to the itinerary of a train trip to the top of Victoria Peak for the (non)view (we went to the top to re-board our bus and spent no time there). Then on to our lunch at Stanley Market (which was a pretty poor example of a street market compared to the center of Kowloon). We ate at an authentic buffet lunch of —— German food in Hong Kong! Day 3 was a long trip to Po Lin Monastery (of course the cable car was closed) , a better than expected vegetarian lunch, then a visit to tourist trap Ngong Ping village. Pretty lame day - definitely best to explore on your own and set up private tours. The mid-cruise feedback form was filled with issues. We have not heard back from the crew - do not believe the “commitment to excellence.” They are committed to apologizing and being empathetic, as they have much practice from what I have heard from many other cruisers. More specifics: 1] The towels placed on the poolside chairs are changed once a day. If someone is lying on the towel and leaves, the towels are reused for the unsuspecting next poolside guest. 2] First day of the cruise (we paid plenty extra for alcohol included, but no Riesling wine (they did find one bottle for the 12 day cruise) and no Pina Colada mix ( after 9 days they did get off the ship to get more mix, but ran out after 1 day). 3] Salad poolside is served warm - not kept on ice or refrigerated. The salad plates are hot, also not kept in a cooler. Who really wants warm salad? 4] Same for the sodas. Warm Coke cans are opened - so they are not carbonated well. Poured over ice results in flat, diluted soda. I’ll stick to water, but it is warm if you want it from a bottle (or boxed water) - only water from the ship is cold (gee - wasn’t it brown water in my room)? Even refrigerator in room barely kept drinks cool. 5] Although I had expected great service due to a smaller ship with a high staff:passenger ratio, I felt that the service was really poor compared to Oceana. At the buffets, people were leaning over food and mis-handling the serving utensils (not very hygienic) similar to any Golden Corral in the U.S.)- as opposed to being served by gloved staff. It frequently took my asking servers multiple times to bring me drinks, bread, etc. Sometimes I just got up to do it myself. 6] The food menu is pretty extensive - which is good. The food is generally good (although I personally did not think it was uniformly good, but I did have alternative choices) - not as good as the restaurants I had experienced on Oceana but much better than Royal Carribean. Prime 7 is very good. The staff in the Italian buffet are understaffed and running around making it a hectic, not relaxing dinner, but better the second night. 7] When going on tours, only warm water is handed out when leaving the ship. Cold water is not routinely given out on the buses. Generally, the tour buses are good, the tours are pretty average to sub-par. 8] Now at day 10 after completing Bangkok “2 day“ visit. Rather than dock in Bangkok as was in the original itinerary, we docked 2.5 hours away in Laem Chabang. The excuse was low tide (we found out after boarding, others found out 1 week before). I am sure the real reason was it cheaper, as there were no other cruise ships in our port and other cruise ships were docked in Bangkok at the same time. The times of our docking did not change, so there was no way to reasonably go to Bangkok on day 1, with the “alternative offered was to go to Bangkok on day 1 (and at my own expense) book a hotel room and book my own tours to return on day 2 at 1:30 PM. On day 2 we left at 6 AM to have a very rushed visit to the Grand Palace, canal ride on the Chao Phraya river and a buffet lunch at a Sheraton hotel before returning at 1:30 PM - spent more time driving than touring - 2 days wasted in Thailand. I need to come back another time to actually visit the sites and see Bangkok! The entertainment has been better than expected. Staff are pleasant and very apologetic. When we explained our concerns personally to the ship General Manager, she was understanding and apologetic, offering a laughable $750 credit toward a future cruise, with no adjustment to the top dollar price of this cruise. With more protests, we were offered $750 each current cruise credit or $1500 eachfuture cruise credit. 9] The regular internet is very spotty, which I have found. To be fairly typical at sea. I paid for the upgrade to streaming internet, but became good friends with the internet guru with my daily visits due to inability to access the internet, and inability to stream (I tried to video stream a Peloton 45 minute exercise program, which worked for 12 minutes during my 45 minute exercise period). Other sites would not stream at all. Finally, I was told I would not be charged the $120 for the fast internet access I was not receiving). The good parts of this cruise: 1] The staff are friendly and try to be helpful, but are poorly trained (not their fault) and are limited with the ability to fix issues with a ship that should be taken out of service. The 10 day dry dock is not going to repair all the issues with the ship. They did try hard to address the many issues. 2] Bed is comfortable. The suite is comfortable (excluding the smell, toilet and brown sink water). High beds had plenty of storage underneath for big luggage. 3] Good quality entertainment. 4] Very good food and food choices. 5] We received a credit in order to book our own air travel, and were met in a timely fashion at the airport. Luggage transfers were seamless and done well. 6] Itinerary was good (better than the ports actually docked or the time allotted for touring). 7] Although it took great effort, we did receive $ credit. It did not make up for the lost time and aggravation of our vacation, but at least it was a token acknowledgement that there are major issues with the ship that were known beforehand but not publicized. We paid for a Ritz Carlton , and got a Motel 6 (sorry to Motel 6- as I am sure they have clean water in the bathroom Read Less

My wife got contact dermatitis.. the suite is small. The shower smalles I have ever seen. The casino is small and temp 86.4 F because the outdated slots pump heat better than a fireplace. I The issue is that the corporate office does not let ship staff make any decisions, they simply tell us what we want. Should listen to customers. Food was ok, and the staff was extremely cordial. So this old Russian icebreaker is a small ship. We had 380 passengers. After dinner, nothing to do until one show at 9:30. Did not have America’s best selling single Amalthea, Glen Livet..pitiful. Lectures were not looking cation specific, mostly about Roman times etc. I strongly recommend you not get fleeced with high cost, we pai about 60K including air. I would never step on this ship. It is a true bait and switch.. Pass on this loser masquerading as a luxury 6 star. What a joke. Get this, they block early morning walkers and people are walking in circles around the pool until the sun comes up. Corporate thinks it is dangerous. BTW, fitness joint opens doors at 7:30.,pretty good, when open. Read Less

I’ve cruised many lines, including Princess, Celebrity, Windstar, Paul Gauguin, RCCL, HAL & Crystal. I had heard so many accolades regarding Regent, & I was determined to try them. It’s been 6 months since our cruise (there were 4 of us, in 2 cabins), but my disappointment has not waned & I cannot see myself attempting another Regent cruise - at their prices, they were far below my expectations & not worthy of a repeat. — The cabins were wonderful, comfortable, & our attendant was also wonderful. — The main dining room was too brightly lit & it ruined the ambiance of a gracious evening. One night they lost power for a short time in the brightest lights & people cheered; when the brights came back on, you could hear the grumbling disappointment. We asked for dimmer lighting, but I suppose we were one of the few because that did not happen. It was bright like a MacDonalds, no exaggeration. The food was very good, the wait staff rushed with service varying accordingly. We had some kind of VIPs on board & it was pretty angering to watch the multiple staff tripping on themselves to serve them - while we sat unattended waiting. — The 2 specialty restaurants were both disappointments, in food & in service. All 4 of us agreed, our meals were poor. We complained about the meals in the steak restaurant & they apologized profusely, asked us to give them another try ... why would we try again when we couldn’t even eat the steaks? — The drinks were poor & I sent back a few of them. I also had to start asking for doubles and/or extra shots because they skimped on the alcohol. Even the martini olives were small! That may sound petty, but I enjoy a well made martini with great olives - which was not to be had on this ship ... nor a decent Old Fashion, nor a decent Manhattan. The bar staff were polite, but not friendly & after 10 days on the ship not one of them acted like they had ever seen us before, even when we greeted them by name & tried to engage them. — Most of the tours were terrible. We paid $150 per person extra (as best I recall) for a tour in Boston to the Kennedy Library. We arrived at the library later than had been expected by the guide & our time in the library was very rushed - so I didn’t enjoy what I had been looking forward to. Our tours on Bermuda were both terrible - one was on a sailboat that was too small for all the passengers & many of us sat uncomfortably on deck. Many sat packed into the well. There was never a discussion of safety or life jackets & if I had not sailed before I imagine I would’ve been scaired sitting against the mast on a flat deck, cutting through windy seas. The other Bermuda tour was 7 people packed into an RV & a drive-about. We ended up in the 3rd row of seats, with 3 of us tucked in, which meant that 2 of us half-sat on the wheel wells & the one in the middle was a sardine. We left that tour at the first stop & were thrilled to be out of that RV. A very disappointing cruise, for many reasons. This was definitely not the “luxury” I had anticipated, was far less luxurious than many other ships I’ve been on, and was way, WAY overpriced for what we received. Read Less

We put three cruises together starting in Dublin 7/18 and disembarking in Barcelona 9/1. The positive was the crew and service was excellent for the most part. The negative is extensive. The ship was not particularly stable with a good deal of pitching and rolling in calm to moderate seas. Vibrations at the stern were noticeable even on the 10th deck. Some people in cabins at the rear portion of the ship demanded new cabins. The food was mediocre for the most part. The signature Prime steak restaurant had to recook a medium rare filet on two occasions. Surprisingly there was little local food and wine as we cruised Scandinavia and Europe. Wines were focused on primarily US wines and frequently ran out without resupply. The ship docked most of the time a significant distance from the actual place we were visiting. Long bus rides were the standard and cabs back and forth were extremely expensive. Tours were clearly not designed with the guest in mind but for the convenience of the cruise line. Many times tours were scheduled when venues or cities being visited were not open. the maddening thing was there was adequate time to run the same tour a few hours later in the day without impacting the scheduled departure times. Many times the "free time" did not occur due to the guide not managing the tour properly. 75% of the guides were substandard compared to other guides in Europe and on river cruises. It was a very expensive experience with such a negative result. Many people with hundreds of cruising days on Regent were complaining about the lack of quality on the cruise as compared to their other experiences. Read Less

We are on a cruise from New York to Iceland and we picked the cruise for its destinations. The ship is old and is poorly maintained; lots of rust,scuff marks,stained carpets,faded wood on the decks.The vibration in the cabins is constant and unbelievable like sleeping on top of a freight train. The food is on par with Hometown buffet.Ar breakfast the hot foods were covered in grease.No fresh yogurt or berries.There are few choices for food on the ship with restrictive hours.The room service took forever and was poor quality. For dinner you are forced to dress up and go the main dining room so you don’t starve and you see fed like warm mediocre food. Most of the senior patrons don’t seem to mind or notice.We have been on about 29 cruises and this is by far the worst. There was bad weather last night and many cabins and hallways leaked and were inundated with water.Ernember this is an old ship. There is virtually no entertainment or enrichment programs and at the moment the pool and jacuzzi ms are drained with a full day at sea.The days entertainment choice a movie in the theater? The staff are very nice and well trained for the most part but they have very little to work with. I would stick with Silversea,Viking and Seabourn if you wish to experience a luxury cruise. Give these guys a miss unless you like bad food and old ships and a vibrating cabin where you can’t sleep. Read Less

Priority guests were not treated like priorities! In most situations - waitlist was an imaginary item. Basically I would say the ship personnel were very friendly and dedicated employees. Upper management needs to wake-up! Many people felt that this cruise was not up to par for RSSC. We suggested in our cruise comments that the 9:30 timing for entertainment shows was too late. Most passengers taking cruises over 30 days tend to be older because we are mostly retired and can spend that amount of time and money. Jamie did add several 5:30 shows which were excellent. The entertainment was not nearly as good as previous cruises. I would also have to add that the "country club casual" has really gone down hill. Read Less

We were first time REGENT cruisers, although we have cruised MANY times before on Celebrity, Princess, Azamarra, etc......This was a 18-night "Panama Canal" cruise that started in SF on July 20 and ended up in Miami.on Aug 7. Ship was very small and intimate, nicely refurbished. Cabin was VERY large and very well designed, but we were on the 8th deck in Cabin 868 and the vibrations from the engine or thrusters or drive shafts, or whatever, was absolutely unbelievable. It got to a point where we dreaded going back to the cabin for the night because we knew we would be woken up due to the very heavy vibrations, rumbling sounds and "shuttering" that seemed to happen at random times but was always the worst when approacing a port or leaving a port.. I finally went to see the General Manager (Nicki), and she apologized and offered us a "future cruise" credit that we accepted. I will NEVER go back on the REGENT NAVIGATOR, but we used the credit and some other discounts offered since we booked the next cruise while on-board, for a 1-week Alaska cruise on the REGENT MARINER in August of 2018 We thought the food was VG to Excellent, except for a meal at Sette Mari one night, and the service was truly outstanding! The ship is very small so there are not a lot of activities or different venues of entertainment, but overall it would have been a VERY nice cruise if the vibrations and noise were not our constant companions while in our cabin. We will give REGENT one more "go" on the Alaska trip we have now booked, but that trip is going to have to be utterly amazing for us to be future REGENT customers. Embarkation was fairly smooth and debarkation was VERY smooth. Just PLEASE be aware......if you are considering REGENT NAVIGATOR, do NOT accept a cabin in the rear portion of the ship on level 8 or even level 9. Many of our cabin neighbors also complained about the vibrations, so we are positive that cabins 860-862-864-868-870 and then the other side of the deck, cabin 861-863-865-867-869 were affected by the vibration and "shuttering" problems. I would also caution fellow cruisers to stay away from the rear cabins on deck 9. REGENT knows this is a current (and past), problem, but apparently has done nothing to try and resolve it. Believe we, when I say it is BAD, I can't stress enough how bad it is. BEWARE!!!! One last comment........REGENT advertises itself as a 6-star cruise line. If you eliminate the vibration/noise from it's cabins, and consider the VG to excellent food, the outstanding service, the free wi-fi (which actually worked OK most of the time), pre-paid gratuities, free beverages, and "unlimited" shore excursions, it probably is pretty close to a 6-star line. However, the excursions SUCK for the most part, and REGENT schedule all of the excursions in just about every port so that you can only do one.....the only exception was Key West. On top of that, we considered (as most of our "neighbors") did, that the quality of the excursions was VERY POOR. Certainly no where near a 4 or 5 star quality. In our opinion, if you identify yourself as a 6-star line, then your "included" excursions should also be 4 or 5 star level. The excursions we took (including the 1 and 1/2 we did in Key West) to be in 1-2 quality range!! Read Less

This cruise was entitled "Sumptuous Safaris" and had it not been for the pre cruise safari, which was the highlight of the trip, it would have been an absolute disaster. On embarkation we were asked for our "yellow fever cards", which we didn't have and had not been requested to have by Regent. We were told that we should contact our GP and get copies emailed to us, and if we didn't we may not be able to get off the ship at some ports. Finally they said that we would be contacted by someone once on board. This never happened, so we never knew what the fuss was all about. The ship didn't sail on schedule apparently due to bad weather so we had an extra day in Cape Town, we were left to our own devices. When we retuned to the ship there was a letter offering a tour around Cape Town, somewhat too late as it had already left 2 hours previously. Due to the delayed departure and a further delay at East London we missed three out of the seven ports we were supposed to visit, therefore three of the seven booked tours were not available to us. When we eventually got on a tour in Namibia the bus broke down, and we were stranded in the desert for 2 hours only to return to the ship having missed this tour as well. Regent did however compensate us for this disaster with some significant 'on board' spend which was appreciated. We select these cruises primarily for the itenary therefore we are very disappointed when 50% of our tours were not achieved for one reason or another. This was our fourth cruise with Regent and we have always had a good experience up until this cruise, quite frankly I became fed up from hearing other passengers exclaiming the virtues of other so called 6 star cruise operators. Unfortunately things could have been managed better in difficult circumstances, ideally this cruise should have never taken place. The wrong location for the time of year. When you learn that the same cruise in 2015 experienced problems due to bad weather and that this cruise is not being offered in 2017 or 2018 then you wonder why it was offered to unsuspecting customers in 2016. After two cruises on Seven Seas Navigator we are convinced that Regent are not so good as they think they are, and by no means offer 6 star luxury. On the positive side, the cabins, the selection of drinks, especially wine, afternoon tea, and the putting green are all very good. The pianist was OK, but we warmed to her and enjoyed her quizzes. Highlight of the cruise was a concert given by a local choir in Namibia (who were then hustled off the ship so that it could sail!). On the other hand, in our view the following leave a lot to be desired: food quality; food service especially in the overcrowded and noisy Sette Mari/La Veranda ; drinks service at the overcrowded pool bar (best just to go to the bar itself and order it from the staff there who are very helpful); wine service in restaurants, especially after 9pm when most of the wine waiters disappear; some excursions (it appears not to be Regent's policy to send a member of the crew on each excursion to help resolve any problems); entertainment which, apart from being too loud, was of very mixed quality and very much attuned to an American audience - the pits was a concert by so-called 'Opera Girls' which included only two operatic items, one of them composed as a tenor solo. We heard many complaints on-board from other guests, and we had a major complaint about arrangements for a 'free' post-cruise safari, which were notified shortly before the event and were wholly unacceptable. The Destinations staff lied to us about the situation and then wanted to charge over $500 to remedy it. Suffice to say that after we complained Regent eventually paid us substantial compensation. And one further thing: after complaining about our first cruise with them in June 2016 we were told that the on-board General Manager would be asked to ensure the quality of our (already booked) next one. We did not notice any impact of this promise, and indeed had no contact whatsoever from him for nearly two weeks on that second cruise until we complained about the post-cruise safari. Overall they need to improve their self awareness, rather then believing their own publicity, and learn more about customer service. We would not sail with them again. Read Less

We have been on Regent before and expected to spend our 30th Wedding Anniversary and retirement celebration seeing Africa in style. Couldn't have been more disappointed!! Missed ports due to weather we were never warned about, rough seas, too many sea days, mediocre food, very expensive and too many rude staff members, made this the cruise from hell! The cabins are nice, Prime 7 is good but you can't get in very often and as mentioned in other reviews, going to other restaurants can be overcrowded with slow service. After our return we tried to get some compensation from the cruise line and they offered $500 per person on our next cruise! I was hoping they would do something to make me want to cruise with them again, but no such luck! There are too many high-end luxury cruise lines that care about your business. This is not one of them, so find another cruise line to spend your hard-earned money on! Read Less

Starting with a chaotic transfer from hotel to ship, this cruise was destined to disappoint with nonexistent shore support following hospitalisation resulting from an allergic reaction to a ship-provided meal and cancelled ports of call (3 of 7) said to result from the ship being prevented from leaving ports - including the first port of departure - due to adverse weather! Restaurant dining was often 'drawn out' such that later courses were either rushed or cut short to enable us to attend a chosen 'show.' On board entertainment and/or sea day activities were generally poor and not consistent with what might reasonably be expected of a so-called 6 Star operator and many other 'finesse' points associated with luxury cruising (e.g. cleansing towels and drinks on returning on board from excursions, cabin-provided canapés ) were missing. We encountered a distinctly apathetic tone and lethargic response to criticisms and requests for improvement, ultimately resulting in advice that all such matters should be addressed to their customer relations department on return home. If Regent think that 6star cruising means all-inclusive 'free' on board drinks and gratuities they need to review their organisation and look at at others who really are 6 star. We had high expectations of this high cost cruise only to be HIGHLY disappointed. Read Less

This cruise was chosen because of the 7 day itinerary and at this time of year the temperature would not be too hot. My wife is very asthmatic so the temperature was a very important feature for us. The restaurant service and food were excellent so was the attention we received from all the restaurant and bar staff. Our cabin was kept beautifully clean and tidy by our cabin steward, so far everything was as we expected.. The down side was: terrible vibration from the propellers/engines at night time, we had to cancel three days shore excursions because we were too tired to go on them and had to sleep during the day. We did complain about the noise and were told "What noise" . We did find out from some staff members that technicians where onboard trying to rectify the problem and that there had been a lot of similar complaints, but reception staff still refused to admit there was a problem. The pool area is lovely and we would have enjoyed that if we could find empty seats where we did not have to endure the smoke coming from the smoking area at the pool side. My poor wife was coughing and choking with the smoke in this area which you could smell over a third of the seating area. A closed in area where everyone who smokers can enjoy fellow smokers poisonous fumes should be available. . The air conditioning in our suite was also not working despite our constant requests for this to be rectified it was not repaired There was rudeness from the reception desk when we asked when it would be working!! and to top the lot no water in the cabin to flush toilets or wash hands on the last night.. When it finally came through the taps the next morning it was a dirty brown/yellow colour. We passed on our morning showers and decided to wait till we arrived home later that day. Regent as far as we are concerned do not live up to their hype, they let themselves down by not admitting when there is a problem and encourage their staff to lie to you. The staff at reception areas can be very rude and choose to ignore your complaints over problems which you do not expect to have on a top end luxury cruise line. We will not cruise with Regent again, there are plenty of other excellent cruise lines out there who provide a good quality cruise experience and who listen to passengers with genuine complaints over lack of what should be the usual experience you would expect on a holiday, air conditioning, a good nights sleep, clean water when it finally comes through the taps and reception staff who pay attention to your problems not ignore them and lie to you! We are seasoned cruisers and usually have four cruise holidays a year so Regent you have lost yourselves two passengers who would have booked more cruise holidays with you ! Read Less

We haven't cruised Regent since 2004, and back then they were known as Radisson Seven Seas. In 2004 we took the old Seven Seas Diamond from Venice to Rome. It was the Diamond’s last voyage and it was a wonderful trip; great ship, great food, attentive staff. There were numerous onboard activities, theme dinners, and sporting events from the ship. Since that trip we have cruised with several lines, including Cunard, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess, and Crystal. When it came time to select a cruise line for a trip from Barcelona to Rome, we contemplated Seabourn as well as SilverSeas, but given our previous pleasant experience on Regent, we chose Regent and opted for the Grand Suite; an expense of over $30,000 total. A mistake, as it turned out. We flew into Barcelona a couple of days early and were immediately advised by Regent that our ship, the Navigator, was in dry dock for a $150 million dollar renovation. To us that was good news because we expected a lot of new furniture and accommodations as part of the refit. . Many times during the trip we asked ourselves, “where was all that money spent?” As part of the Regent pre-cruise package we booked our stay through Regent, including our transportation from the airport. Somehow Regent managed to lose our reservations, but luckily I had all the documentation to prove we had purchased accordingly. It is frustrating, however to have to engage in those types of conversations, after a long flight, especially when you would rather be sight-seeing. Our cruise launch was delayed because of the ship’s “renovation” and Regent representatives convinced us to take “advantage” of a pre-board excursion which they misrepresented as “little physical activity.” (I am handicapped) It turned out to be a very strenuous walking excursion which I really couldn't enjoy. We also now realize it was a diversion as we were scheduled to board ship by 1:00pm in time for lunch. Our eventual boarding time was 4:00pm. We boarded late and our five bags were left at the end of the hall, furthest from our room. Finally, later that night after muster drill, my wife went to the end of the hall and dragged them to our room rather than wait for a delivery. We had a full-time Butler; this was his first cruise, but he was capable. Our rooms had several quirks so I’ll just point out a few: LED lights that flickered constantly, even when we were sleeping. (We reported this the first day, it was finally fixed next to last day of the cruise). We had brown water coming out of our bathroom sink anytime we tried to use it to brush our teeth or take a drink. Again I reported this immediately, and again on the survey at mid-week, through telephone calls and finally by taking a glass of the water to the concierge. He was noticeably embarrassed and swore it would be fixed. (He later sent a box of pralines to our suite as an apology and assured us the the problem was now fixed “as a double filter had been installed in our bathroom,”). On the last day of the voyage I presented him with yet another glass of the brown water. *see picture. The problem was never fixed. Additionally, each morning at approximately 4:30am, a terrible sewage smell would emanate from our bathroom, mostly from the shower drain. Again we reported this. Nothing was done. Our cruise Director reminded us many times during the cruise that we were sleeping “on new beds, beds that had never been slept on before..” That was nice but hardly worth $150 million. We had an Bose iPod player in our room – with the old fashioned pre-lightning connector, which rendered our two iPads and two iPhones useless when trying to use the Bose device for music. I mentioned this to the Butler but he had no solution. Additionally, our marketing brochure indicated that our suite had complimentary iPads for the duration of the voyage. They were never produced. Regent now has unlimited wifi PER ROOM. Only one person can be on the system at a time. Hopelessly out of date and incredibly frustrating in an age when everyone uses wifi. There was a new 45 inch HD tv in our room. It was brilliant! Unfortunately they chose to attach it in the space where one would sit to use the desk, thereby making the desk completely useless for writing, reading, or even mixing drinks, (it was located directly next to the mini bar). Honestly, this was one of the most stupid design decisions I have even seen in a cruise cabin especially as there was a four foot blank wall right next to the desk where the TV could have been located. They should have least put a swivel hinge on the Tv so one could pivot it out of the way to use the desk. We had two DVD players; one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The marketing brochure advertised a plethora of DVDs, available from the library. However, checking with the library we were told that the ship no longer stocked DVDs as the onboard entertainment system housed dozens of first run movies. For the first five days of the cruise, there was only one movie available, “The Martian.” On the sixth day they must have figured the system out as there were suddenly more movies. But, it begs the question, “why have DVD players in the suites?” Daily canapés and fruit delivered to the room were excellent, as was the food in Prime 7, the signature restaurant. The food in Compass Rose was also good. I hope the wait staff improve with experience. I could cite several examples but one that comes to mind is one evening, while dining at Prime 7 I asked for wine list. The waitress appeared confused, but finally brought it to us. We ordered our food and tried to order wine, but were told that the sommelier would speak to us. So, our appetizers came and we ate them and they brought our salads and began to eat them when the sommelier appeared and took our wine order. Our main course came and were half way through it, when the wine appeared. (wait, it gets better). The sommelier went through his tasting routine and we enjoyed the wine, which lasted through dessert and then some. It was $175 bottle of wine and when the meal was over I waited for a chit to sign. The waitress asked us several times if “there was anything else.” I finally motioned to her with the universal “air signing” motion. She came to the table, looking confused and I asked her if I needed to sign something? She said “no” and wished us a good evening. It was our first evening at Prime 7 and I told my wife, “they must just track the additional charges via our reservations. Almost 1&1/2 hours later, while sharing a drink with some friends in the lounge, the same waitress approached and told us that we had forgotten to sign for the wine before leaving dinner. Actually made us feel quite small and embarrassed as that is not what had occurred at all. Throughout the cruise we noticed several safety hazards and always brought them to the attention of a crew member. These included loose screws and nails on the swimming lounge deck, studs or spikes sticking up unprotected where a handrail should have been, and broken supports on handrails in the stairwells. When I saw nothing was being done to repair those safety violations, I wrote them into the mid week survey. Still, no attempt was made to repair. Next I approached a crew member at the receptionist desk and outlined a list of the broken and unsafe apparatus and handrails. She smilingly nodded as I pointed out each violation, (I stopped half way through and asked her, “Don't you want to write this down; you might forget?” She responded, “Oh no sir, we will take care of this immediately!” ) Nothing was ever done. (The last evening of the cruise I saw the concierge, Antoine, in the hall near the elevator, and pointed out one of the broken handrails. He said, “I think they are planning on replacing all the handrails, that's probably why that didn't get fixed.” (If the brakes on my car are broken, I fix them, I don't continue to drive it). The entertainment was subpar. A funny comedian/magician mid week and finally on the last night of the cruise a good Broadway -like production. If you have read this far you are probably thinking, “this guy is an elitist snob and he wouldn't be satisfied no matter what was done for him!” That is not true. Please check my profile on Tripadvisor. Level 6 and I have written over 145 reviews. I believe this is my FIRST negative review of any kind. Additionally many other passengers shared similar concerns and complaints during dinners and excursions. And, to put the icing on the cake, our last evening on board we complied with the “11:00 bags in the hallway policy” for disembarkation the next morning. Once we claimed our luggage and continued our trip we discovered that three, small zippered pouches that my wife had packed in one of the suitcases had been opened and pilfered. The loss was small, four Apple plugs and extension cords for iPads, but in over 22 years of cruising, this was a first for us. Needless to say I cannot recommend Regent and will never cruise with them again. If they want to “play” in the luxury cruise market, they have a long way to go. Read Less

Our ninth cruise on Regent and by far our most disappointing trip. When you charge a premium and advertise a 6 star experience your expectations are high and unfortunately where not met on this cruise. Each cruise has a port that you really look forward to visit and on this trip it was Gibraltar with really good shore excursions being offered. So imagine our disappointment when our stop was cancelled a month after our final payment was made with no explanation (I know they don't have too but this a premium cruise line) and Barcelona was changed to an overnight . When asked about on board we where only told it was for "operational reasons" and nothing more. I think I found the real reason when arrived in Barcelona when around 2PM to a pier with dumpsters and stacks of materials. Embarkation was as smooth as always with Regent really does a great job of getting you on board. A glass of champaign and off to lunch to meet your fellow passengers until your cabins are available. Our stop in Bermuda was as expected which was just OK. We arrived on Easter Sunday with almost everything being closed but a pleasant drive around the island each day was offered. We did learn quite a lot about the island so all in all not a bad stop. This was our fifth crossing and we where looking forward to the sea days and the interaction with our fellow passengers. One of Regent's greatest assets is a cadre of returning cruisers who enjoy travel and interacting with other guests and staff. You've never really done a crossing until you done "Regent" crossing. Activities are led by the show cast members which gives you the opportunity to get to know some amazingly talented young people starting out on their acting careers. The fun is not the games but having fun with the other passengers and cast members. Our crossing started out fine from Bermuda but we lost an engine before our stop in Madeira so we arrived late and all shore tours where canceled. We where able to get repairs so we where off to Barcelona passing Gibraltar at dawn but the weather was good entering the Med. Our arrival was around 2PM with our shore excursion beginning at 3PM for a 3 hour tour which after we where on the bus became a 5 hour tour (returning at 8PM with luggage outside your cabin by 11PM). OK, Barcelona is an amazing city and we really did get to see a lot of it. But beginning our tour so late the Sagrada Família was closed when we arrived so only got to see it from the outside. Returning to the ship we found the dumpsters full of pool and veranda furniture so I guess we now know why we skipped Gibraltar. It was not about a "Celestial Crossing" as advertised but getting the ship in early to start the refit. Service was not up to Regent standards in the Compass Rose dining room. Some servers where perfect with pacing of your meal like the finest restaurant while others just delivered the meal (how do you serve a Dover sole and not debone it for the guest) and you had to ask for refills of bread. The staff on the pool deck seemed understaffed with long waits getting your drink order taken and delivered. The shows where fantastic in all respects. Having met the cast during activities really gives you a focus when watching them on stage. With Regent changing production companies I hope they are able to maintain the very high standards they have achieved to date. You compare Regent with the finest available which after many exceptional cruises becomes a very high standard. Having to leave you door open to your cabin to use the internet is unfortunate lack of service. Hit and miss in the dining room shows a lack of training of new staff. Changing the itinerary after you receive payment without explanation shows a lack of respect of your very loyal customers. When you are spending a lot of money for a cruise you expect the best which we didn't receive on this trip. Let's hope this is a one off exception. Read Less

We are on the last leg of a 21 day cruise and are currently experiencing very rough seas on route to our final destination New York. To give you a flavour of this ship our bath is currently filling up with sewage and the plug is broken so we cannot stop it. The staff say that is what happens on this ship in rough seas! We await the results! Last week our toilet flooded and although a plumber was on hand within minutes is this really what we should expect of so called luxury cruising? We understand that they are taking this ship on a world cruise in 2017. Our advice for what it is worth? Do not go! The choice of food is very limited and on a 21 day cruise the menus did not change once. Can you imagine 128 days of it! The menus are the same as they were five years ago. The ship is cramped. The staff are generally indifferent and unlike five years ago when we started with Regent it is now a case of spot the really keen friendly staff as opposed to the poor ones standing out from the rest. The same test should be applied to the food with the occasional meal standing out. The cafeteria style breakfast is now dated. Food is being cooked to order in good hotels such as our pre cruise one in San Francisco. Here the bacon is piled high and the beans congeal as time goes by! Service by staff inside and on deck is intermittent. The top pool deck was often ignored by the pool staff. The woman behind the bar both by the pool, and again in the evening was terse and argumentative. She basically told me I was wrong when I suggested I had ordered soda and lime many times and had been served Sprite and lime. According to her that was impossible. When I returned a glass of champagne which had clearly been poured hours before I was met with a scowl. I have served myself wine and cleared my own table more than once. On the pool deck I forgot to look at my table number so rather than help me out by looking across the deck to where I had pointed the waiter simply refused to take my order. I actually took a soiled sunbed cover to reception to show them the standard of cleanliness. After three days of finding dirty covers I thought at least if I took it down something would be done. I was treated as if my complaint was not worth the time and subsequently found that it had not been passed on. It was only when I followed it up a week later having heard nothing that someone called me to say it had been noted and would not happen again. Needless to say it did. We did not have any representative or information at our hotel on embarkation day. A driver pulled up to collect four people from our hotel but did not have names of clients or the ship. We just got in with two others and directed him to the Navigator berth in the terminal. We are taking a post cruise tour. Our hotel has been changed twice. The woman here on Destination Sevices failed to listen to our request for confirmation and just kept talking about something else so we walked off and are having to phone Regent in England to find out what is going on. The fixtures and fittings in the cabin are worn out. The drawers stick, the pillows are lumpy and the shower is dated. Who needs a soap tray these days? Somewhere flat to stand the shower gel would be better. The television and video player which we relied heavily upon because of the lack of entertainment, were unreliable and out of date. We have spent a lot of money in our own house to upgrade our standard of living and did not expect to be going down a notch in terms of comfort. The standard of cleaning in our cabin was poor. I often found items I had placed in the bin such as dental floss on the floor after the staff had been in. At least they came I suppose apart from two days when they forgot us completely. I decided I would use the gym on this cruise as a kick start to a new fitness regime at home. I wanted to use the time to familiarise myself with the machines. The fitness instructor was either absent from the gym or could not find the time to explain the machines to me. I felt like I was too unfit for him to take time over. When I did ask a question about heart rates and programmes on the cross trainer he barely gave me the time of day and kept darting out to reception as if looking for more important clients who had booked extra sessions and paid for them. I gave up on him and did it myself and yes I lost 6 kilos! That should give you an idea of how easy it has been to refuse the food which was often just not worth the calories. We found the entertainment team aloof and very much seperate from the guests unlike our experience on Seabourne where they really join you on the dance floor! The dancing here is late at night and the Regent orchestra is poor and boring. Everything seems rooted in the 1940's in terms of music and shows which have hardly changed over five years. We didn't bother with any and just stuck to our own films and box sets whenever we could coax the dvd player and remote in to life. This is an all inclusive cruise and in the past has been well worth it but not anymore. We are gold members as a result of all the cruises we have taken with Regent over the last five years. This is to be our last with this company. I am always fair whenever I review anything and this may seem a harsh review but it is all true. We like to reward good service and are loyal clients to may firms and companies. Although not required we did tip two waiters Siva and Alvin who embodied the old spirit of Regent. Such a shame it has come to this. We are going to book two luxury land holidays next year and give cruising certainly with this company a miss. Read Less

We are just short of Platinum with Regent and until this error had all been great on the Voyager. Where shall I start .. ""The Navigator"" our trip was Vancouver Alaska to SF and then thru the Panama and onwards to NY 31 days. Several of the crew we had been with before and were great and welcoming , The suite was of the usual Regent size and standard lay out..BUT oh DEAR so tired and worn out, very much not what we are used to, carpets looked old and really was the first time I have used the slippers provided. They just about managed to have the Band on deck for the sail away in vancouver ,but they made minimal effort, and this was the last time there was anything in the way of a sail away even from SF there was only taped music in the background. Long gone are the sail away cocktails and the smiling faces. The crew are now worked to the bone and boy does it show. .The so called Cruise Director and his wife made the odd fleeting guest appearance and stuck very much to their FAN CLUB..and showed no interest in much else..They seemed to be enjoying their ""holiday""..Oh how they could take lessons from the brilliant Cruise staff who have left and gone to Viking or indeed the amazing ones on SAGA.. Food is a big part of our holidays, the standards have plummeted we sent several meals back in Compass Rose that were shall we say on the COOL side, Prime 7 has totally lost its edge and is now rated as OK by us..La Veranda one up from school dinners, Sete Marie same place in the evening, went only 3 times and sent back one over cooked veal to the point of crunchie veal escalope, and the seafood stew was so cold.. When I brought it to the attention of staff was told should be ok.. I placed 3 fingers in the liquid and held them there STATING THIS IN NOT HOT..not polite or manners but things were now at a point of no return...the girl took the dish placed on the centre cooking pasta station induction plate for about 45 seconds and returned the same dish. saying ""is now good"".. We left and did not return. We travelled with 2 friends who are both Titanium and this is not the Regent we loved.. The Dancers and singers were great and the shows well performed.. The guest entertainers would have been well suited to Butlins. I really dislike going to print with comments like this but if this is what Regent has slipped down to ,please take it as a warning from a very seasoned travelling couple Read Less

We are Gold level society members on the Regent Cruise Line and are loyal customers. But sailing on the Navigator has given us second thoughts about ever sailing on Regent again. We spent 31 days on the Regent Navigator traveling from Vancouver to Alaska with our final destination at New York. Our observations of this ship is as follows: 1. The vibration on this ship is unacceptable and is most notable in the rear. We watched our wine glasses almost vibrate off the table. We could not eat our dinners in the specialty restaurant, Prime 7, without getting nauseated from the vibration. 2. The food was not up to the previous standard of Regent. Small portions were served in the Compass Rose dining room and the service was slow at times. Some of the food was not served hot and had to be sent back. In Prime 7, some of the steaks had to be sent back due to them being not tender. Also it appears that Regent cut back on the staff in the dining areas as some of our orders were forgotten by the waiters and they seemed to have to many tables to wait on. 3. Some of the free shore excursions and ports were so poor that we should have stayed on the ship. We were mostly taken to shopping areas and churches. We paid an additional fee for a tour and were so disappointed along with the other people on it that we asked for our money back. We filled out a form to get reimbursed and received the typical bed bug letter denying our request. Do not pay an additional fee for an excursion. They are not worth it. 4. Entertainment was fair with some shows being boring. We should have stayed in our room and watched some movies instead of going to some of these shows. In summary, it appears that Regent has lowered it standards in service, food , and the over all quality of the Navigator. This ship is slated for a world tour next year. We cannot imagine signing up for such a cruise with the terrible vibration on this ship. This ship is old,outdated and should be taken out of service. Our advice is to stay off this ship. We find this sad to write these comments on this cruise line, but the Navigator is destroying their image. As stated in the beginning, we are gold lever members of this cruise line, but we are not looking forward to the next level now. Read Less

Far to many issues to mention but generally product is ok, ship old and needs a refit. Suites are old but clean and butler service was a nice touch. Food is good but execution and service levels poor. No one goes out of the way to make you feel special. Is second rate to Seabourn who provide that extra touch. Free tours generally are a waste of time though paid are fairly good. Don't bother with the coach transfer at anchorage get a cab, waited an hour and still got a cab as couldn't wait any longer. It's a shame as it could be good! Read Less

Alaska is stunningly beautiful. The scenic wonders made the time well spent, but that is separate from our disappointing experiences on Navigator. We found the overall attitude to be very different from other luxury ships, ie Seabourn, and very disappointing. The staff was superficially pleasant but mechanical, as long as we made routine requests they were okay. But if you want something out of the ordinary, expect to hear No. We experienced disagreeable and argumentative responses from waiters, those at the Destination Services desk, and Reception. Four Seasons Hotel training might be of benefit. The telephone barely worked. Internet? The slowest and least convenient system we've experienced on any ship. Food was extremely disappointing, neither delicious nor interesting, and small portions were a joke. Wines were bottom shelf. We understand the need for budget, but regular wines were lower quality. Avoid the entertainment, beautiful voices but artlessly arranged. Our cabin was adequate. Nothing special. Furniture was also just adequate. The ship is very noisy, though, creaking constantly. We found this annoying and not relaxing. The television could not be operated from the bed. Small conveniences should have been addressed and revised. However, our steward and butler were outstanding, and a high point of our journey, always a smile and willing to help. One bright star: The pool grill prepares delicious hamburgers! Ice Cream bar is fun! Other bright star: Helicopter to the glacier, walking on the ice. Priceless! Biggest disappointment, aside from rudeness: the decision made to bypass Hubbard Glacier rather than perhaps eliminating Sitka. Due to a fairly bad storm, the Captain explained the revised route to the entire ship AFTER we pulled away from Sitka. (We might have left the ship.) (This was days after announcing the journey up Tracy Arm was not possible due to ice, but why make the announcement moments AFTER the excursion in a smaller boat has already departed so we had no choice but to miss it completely?) Even before the storm, activities were cancelled, rescheduled, and generally disappointing, with the exception of the helicopter ride (extra but worth every cent.) Destination services personnel were either rude or poorly trained. The ship vibrates noticeably most of the time, and it rolls and pitches in bad sea. We experienced a storm such that we were not able to visit Hubbard Glacier, one of the highlights of the trip. We were told this is very unusual, but other comments indicate it seems fairly standard and there could be a contingency plan to include more highlights. (Was the reason for eliminating Hubbard and going directly to Seward for the passengers' comfort as stated, or because they have a schedule, and it is more important to get finished than to provide a truly memorable trip?) Many passengers disembarked still sick from over 36 hours of violent seas. Was there really no better way to handle that? For a $20,000 holiday for a week, this was just adequate. Frankly, I want more than adequate for that expense of time and money. If we return to Alaska, we'll not do so on Regent Seven Seas. Read Less

First, let me say we WERE loyal Regent cruisers and have introduced two other couples to the Regent experience. This time, we were disappointed and embarrassed because Regent's charm and allure has gone downhill. We spent almost $12,000 for this 10-day cruise and frankly, that was too much money for what we got in return. First of all, the Navigator was shabby and threadbare in many areas. The carpet in front of the elevators was stained and old - especially on the pool deck. It was not a good first impression. Of course, vibration in the stern of the Navigator was expected. However, it makes no sense in holding any type of activity in the Stars Lounge because vibration noise is so pronounced. One day, they had a jewelry presentation in the Stars Lounge and the speaker didn't have a microphone. We all had to sit in the front row so we could hear the presentation. We used to enjoy eating on the pool deck and never had a problem ordering food or drinks. This cruise, the service was less than stellar on the pool deck. Food took forever to arrive and one day, I ordered iced tea FIVE times before a glass arrived. From that day forward, I ordered 2-3 iced teas at a time just to be sure I had a refill. We also had a problem with the start time and length of evening meals. When we first cruised with Regent, I seem to remember the Compass Rose (main dining room) opening at 5:30 - it now opens at 6:30. In fact, all restaurants open at 6:30. We don't like to eat that late. It took a minimum of two hours for every evening meal. Two hours sitting and waiting course by course gets tiresome every single evening. There should be a evening buffet. I would like to see La Veranda converted BACK to an evening buffet. Regent's entertainment is mediocre. On all of our Regent cruises, there's been a Broadway show and Cirque de SHIPNAME. Honestly, Regent needs to freshen up entertainment. And 9:30pm is too late for the evening show when we start the day at 8:00am with shore excursions. Why does the show have to start so late at night? Finally, we feel we should be compensated for a missed day in port. Costa Maya was cancelled because the water was too rough to dock. Although Regent can't be held responsible for bad weather, it was supposed to be a day in port and we had a "free" shore excursion booked. We pay top dollar to cruise with Regent because shore excursions are included in the price and I feel Regent owes us an extra shore excursion. No, we did not enjoy the extra day at sea. We booked this cruise because of the number of days in port and opportunities for shore excursions. Speaking of excursions, we paid extra for the "Turtles, Stingrays Land & Sea" Regent Choice excursion. We were severely limited in our freedom to roam the turtle farm because we only had a green wristband. I would expect a higher quality tour from Regent. The description also promised a tour of the rum factory which was closed. Our tour guide explained the rum factory closes when there is only one ship in port. Some other stop should have been substituted in this tour - perhaps a stop at the famous Seven Mile Beach? As a result, we cancelled our next cruise with Regent (Alaska was already booked in 2016). We have re-booked Alaska with another cruise line. Read Less

Regents Seven Seas Cruise 2015 Our Cruise – 10 day, Leaving and returning to Miami, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Ship - SS Navigator, To The Western Caribbean, Suite Category D Concierge, Booked with Luxury Cruise & Vacation Specialist/Luxury Cruise Connections To sum up this cruise: Date of Cruise 3/7/15 to 3/18/15 Was it worth the money- NO Would I recommend this cruise – NO Food – 3 out of 5 Service 4 out of 5 Accommodations (Stateroom) 5 out of 5 Shore Excursions - 2 out of 5 Service before the cruise – 5 out of 5 Service after the cruise 1 out of 5 Booking agent before final Payment – excellent, after final payment Poor, after the cruise “No Return Calls” This was to be our over the top 25 anniversary cruise for us and our best friends. We had been on several cruises before but wanted something really special. Over all I would give this cruise an average rating and not worth the high end cost. I have been on several cruises, but never an all-inclusive high end cruise. I would never take this cruise again. I’ll break it down so you can determine what is valuable to you and if you are willing to pay for few extras you get. With the Regent Cruises, they arrange your travel and purchase your airline tickets, hotel accommodation, connections from the airport, hotel and the ship. This stage went very well except for one leg, which I will explain later. When we arrived at the airport, there was a representative to meet us at baggage claim. He took our luggage to a staging area where we waited for a couple of other passengers. The airline had lost my wheel chair, so they sent the other passengers to the hotel and sent a special car for my wife and me. The hotel was very nice, a high end hotel, the rooms were very nice and overlooked the Miami harbor. Breakfast was provided in a private meeting room. The room was very crowded and they finally had to set up additional tables. The breakfast was poor at best, powdered eggs and some kind of bacon with some little pastries and some fruit. Not the best start. After breakfast we loaded onto buses for the trip to the boat. This was all handled in a very orderly manner. The luggage was loaded onto the buses and we didn’t see them again until we got to our stateroom. However on the return trip from the ship to the airport, this was a nightmare. We left the ship and loaded onto buses in a very quick and orderly method. Much better than any cruise I have ever been on before. When we arrived at the airport, the bus pulled into the back of the airport, an area of the airport I have never seen and looked like a place we shouldn’t be. There were no agents or porters, in fact, there were no other people in sight. The bus drivers ask us to stay on the bus while he unloaded the luggage, I know why he wanted to get out of there before we knew what was happening. There were no airport personnel, porters or luggage carts available. There was an airport entrance about 100 yards away which took us into the baggage claim area. Check in was up stairs, so we were left with our luggage, no help and a long way to drag it. The staterooms were very nice, very large with a walk-in closet, a large bathroom with both a shower and bath tub. The Cabin Steward great, she kept the room very neat and clean. Turning down the beds at night and making the beds each morning. She was un-noticeable unless you called on her. She was very responsive to every request. The king size bed was one of the best beds I have ever slept on. The refrigerator was stocked with beer, water and sodas and was restocked every day. Bottles of wine would be delivered via room service any time of day. Room service was quick and very good, even the morning breakfast would arrive within 10 to 15 minutes. Food…..The sales pitch was it was like eating in a 5 star restaurant every night. I don’t think so; the food was good but not a 5 star standard by any means. I would give it may-be a 3 to 3.5 stars. I had better food on Carnival Cruise lines. They also have a specialty Restaurant, Prime 7 Steak House, which was supposed to be over the top. You had to make reservation at no additional cost. We arrive and were seated by the kitchen in a small and very crowded dining room. There were 4 of us and we had Prime Rib, 2-Ribeye Steaks and surf and turf. I don’t think any of us ate it all and not because there was to much food. The steaks and prime rib were tough, the lobster was overcooked and it was just not enjoyable. You did have a 5 course meal every night and they spent a lot of time replacing silverware and dishes, like a 5 star restaurant. Dinner was not a quick affair; it usually took from 2 to 2.5 hours to eat each night. Service was not quick and if you asked for something different, you would have to ask several times. I must say that the wine flowed freely, there was always someone there to re-fill the glass or top them off. The wine as well as all the liquor was top shelf. Breakfast of sausage and eggs consisted of 2 eggs, two small sausages links and 2 small round (about quarter size) home fries. Lunches around the pool were standard fare, Hot dogs, Hamburgers and sandwiches which were very good. They also had a buffet each day with a different theme. Which was OK, they had a Mexican Theme one day that was bad, if they hadn’t told us, I don’t think I would have known it was Mexican. Most of the excursions were included with just a few that had an extra charge, but there were plenty of free ones to choose from. But they did not live up to billing either. At our first port, we didn’t even stop because the sea was to rough and we couldn’t get into the dock. So they just slowed down and took their time to get to the next port. Most of the excursions are lousy, poorly planned and you no longer even get the rest stop with snacks/beverages. I would prefer to pay more for a quality excursion. Now we only go on our own independent tours and have so much more fun. Spa: Way Way overpriced All of the shows start at 9:30 so we didn’t make it to any of them. By the time we finished dinner most of the time the show had already started. They did have tea and game each day which was very entertaining and fun. They would play bingo and trivia games where you could win tickets for prizes from the gift shop. The tea was served with different type’s appetizers and small desserts which were very good. My next cruise will NOT be with Regents Seven Seas. Read Less

After cruised with Regent many times, we were looking forward to our western Caribbean "snorkel" cruise. After we paid our final payment, the excursions started to be cancelled. Before we even left for Miami, two snorkel trips were cancelled and our hotel was changed three times. Once on board, we discovered that the navigator was an old ship that vibrated and rattled and on the open ocean was prone to excessive rolling. The big surprise was to follow the first morning on the cruise when we couldn't stay in our cabin due to the noise. It was never disclosed to us that they would be doing construction work daily on the boutique directly below our cabin. Each day for five days was filled with the sound of power tools and hammering. Depending on who you talked to, we would receive a different answer; we'll stop it today or we have to do it, too bad. Our cabin was unusable during the day the first half of the cruise. By the time the cruise was over, more excursions were cancelled or unusable due to scheduling changes. This was an expensive trip for about a total of 1:20 snorkel time. But our biggest disappointment came when we got back and notified Regent through the encouragement of our travel agent of what happened. We received NO RESPONSE !! This was so unlike Regent in our past sailings and we were shocked until I learned that Regent had been taken over by Norwegian and they are not as service directed as the old Regent management Read Less

We sailed on "Seven Seas Voyager" in June 2014 and had such a wonderful trip that we booked on "Seven Seas Navigator." Wow! It's like we are on a different (and much inferior,) cruise line! First, the ship itself.... Negatives: "Navigator" seems old and tired. There is a positively ALARMING prolonged vibration at times when underway...and we were on the top passenger deck, Deck 11. I saw this mentioned before we sailed in other reviews, so obviously Regent knows about it. But, clearly, they have done nothing to correct it. Nor do they mention or explain it onboard. It's like the proverbial "elephant in the room." The stabilizers, which I believe I read were retrofitted to this ship, do not do much to dampen roll. Additionally, the ship's short length accentuated pitch (forward-to-back motion.) Both combine to provide a much less stable cruise than "Voyager." The rugs and upholstery throughout the ship are stained and often worn-looking. The furniture and paneling are dinged, banged-up and scratched. The first water run into our bathtub was always rusty, (though it did clear quickly.) Here's a BIG one for us. Most of the deck where the Connoisseur Club smoking lounge is positively stank of cigarette smoke. Just walking from the front elevators to the Seven Seas Lounge, where most tours met, resulted in my hair and clothing stinking of smoke for several hours. Phew eee! The 3 elevators, both fore and aft, are arranged in a semi-circle, not in a straight line like "Voyager." I assume this is because "Navigator" is so much smaller. The problem with this is that they wait a very short time after coming to the summons of the button. You have to stand in front of the middle one and sprint to catch whichever of the side ones comes. (We joked that they had a sensor to tell them where you were standing, so the could offer you the one furthest away!) I rolled my husband around on a wheelchair we rented, and we missed A LOT of elevators because it was so difficult, on the padded carpets, to get him to the open one on time. We saw people on foot get left behind, too. We could see when we were ashore that only the very large, high-priced suites had the very comfortable "rattan" lounge chairs and tables on their balconies that we enjoyed in our Penthouse Suite on "Voyager." Our Penthouse on "Navigator" had metal chairs with plastic mesh fabric. Not as comfortable, at all. Positives: Can't think of any for the "physical plant." We should have had our first cruise on "Navigator," not on "Voyager!" Food & Beverages..... Negatives: Service was very slow and spotty, especially at La Veranda and the Pool Grill. It seemed as if the wait staff was more concerned with their own agenda that with the passengers' comfort or needs. At the Pool Grill, we heard a staffer, whose back was turned to the buffet as he worked on equipment behind the buffet, tell a man starting to dish up his breakfast from the that "The Breakfast Buffet here is closed. Go inside to La Veranda." I informed him that the food was still sitting RIGHT THERE, and that I was going to dish up breakfast! He did not object. For heaven's sake!! Repeatedly, main course dishes were not cleared to make room for our dessert. Indeed, wait staff would be busy setting up for the evening dinner service at La Veranda, when it becomes Setti Mari, rather than attending to the guests they had at present. When asked, they did clean the plate, but not the salad plate, rolls, etc. Often, we weren't offered beverages until we asked for them. Service could also be very slow in Prime & and Compass Rose. We spent almost 2 hours getting dinner at Compass Rose, and actually left without dessert because we had sat so long, with out empty entreé dishes before us We didn't want to wind up spending close to 3 hours for the complete dinner. THAT goes from "leisurely" to "too slow!" The beef onboard, whether at Compass Rose or at Prime 7 (which features "USDA Prime beef," they say) was tough AND virtually tasteless, except for the Filet Mignon, which was tender and tasteless! We noticed this on "Voyager," too, and chalked it up to European beef. We had anticipated a good, American steakhouse steak, at least at Prime 7. At these prices, why doesn't Prime 7 have dry-aged prime beef?! They promote it a so special, but it's not special at all. The pasta salads at the Pool Grill were often dried-out, with hard, chewy pasta. Undercooked? Left out too long? Can't say. The first "house" red wines offered were always sharp, rough and acidic. The Sommelier always brought a softer, mellower red when asked, however. Every "Rum Punch" I ordered (when in the Tropics...!) was prepared differently...light and dark rum/only light rum, different amounts of juice and Grenadine, different garnishes, some handled and some dispensed with tongs, etc. Positives: Except for the tough, tasteless beef, the food was very, very good. It was cooked to perfection, and very tasty. (BTW, steaks were always cooked perfectly, as ordered, too.) The pastry chefs are wonderful! Everything they made was delicious! (Too delicious!) Plates and utensils were always clean, with new utensils for each course. Wine glasses in Compass Rose were polished and sparkling. Butler Service: As with "Voyager," our Butler, Abhi, was WONDERFUL. He seemed to truly CARE about our experience. Once, I was in line to talk to Destination Services about a Tour the next day. He had simply seen me walking there with my Tour Tickets as he took a wheelchair passenger upstairs. He came straight back down and asked me what I needed, telling me to go relax while HE took care of it for me. Abhi kept our Suite positively perfect, keeping the refrigerator and fruit dish stocked and bringing us the single-malt Scotch we wanted. He served us dinner, from the Compass Rose menu, on the nights we couldn't face the spotty service at Compass Rose, and breakfast on the mornings we had early tours. He even got me some special almond cookies from the Setti Mari menu! Our butler on "Voyager," Samir, was similarly attentive. I really think the Butlers have their OWN code of conduct, setting for themselves the highest standards of care and concern for their clients. They are a true asset to Regent! Personnel in general: Our personnel problems were mostly related to my husband's need for a wheelchair for long walks. In anticipation, we actually rented a wheelchair, rather than ask Regent personnel to provide one, as we had on "Voyager." There were many, MANY wheelchair-using or elderly passengers on this ship. (One woman was 94!) We imagine that they all shared our problems: It often seemed to us as if this was an "Outward Bound" cruise. The Tours were so strenuous and unaccessible! Indeed, walks to the "tours" were often up to a mile, UPHILL, even if the tour itself was not strenuous. However, unlike some lines, Regent provided no pier-shuttles...you had to walk from the ship or miss out! The "Enrichment" lectures were a wonderful asset tour trip...even though Regent did not provide a way for my husband to appreciate any of the cultures he mentioned. DON'T THEY KNOW THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE MAJORITY OF THEIR PASSENGERS?? The people who booked this cruise, by and large, older and sometimes handicapped in some way. But the ADA simply does not apply with this ship! The Destination Services Manager was oppositional and uncaring. Because of her, we cancelled tours we had been looking forward to. She insisted they were "too long a walk," or "too strenuous" for my husband, even with me pushing his chair. In retrospect, she was often wrong about this, since it was eminently possible to wheel him to a tour and keep the wheelchair there for our return. (He can walk, climb steps, etc., but doesn't much stamina.) BTW, I had to push, because no one from Regent was available to do so!! This was not the case on "Voyager." They wheeled him to faraway busses, etc. The Security Staff at the gangway were uncordial and grudging in their assistance to me. My husband could walk down the gangway just fine, but I (I'm 69) could not get his wheelchair down myself. I usually had to ask someone to bring it to the pier for me. Then, no one EVER offered to help me wheel him. Luckily, on Roatan (The place with the mile+ uphill walk,) a Port Security officer carried us on his golf cart to and from the ship. Even I could not have negotiated that grueling walk! I assume it is so long because Royal Caribbean, who built the Port facility, wants passengers exposed to the many, many shops enroute to the busses. hence, they offer no transportation that would by-pass those shops. I can only speculate that Regent gets a cheaper docking fee by also forcing us to endure that long walk, rather that providing us with transport to the busses.   Read Less
