This was our 5th cruise with Azamara and our first time on Pursuit since she was taken over by Azamara, we had sailed with her previously as P&O Adonia so it was interesting to see the refurbishment. Emarkation was not good; when we arrived at the port at the Trade Centre in Barcelona we were told we could board immediately however it was clear when we had gone through security we were going to have a wait as we were given numbers and asked to take seat. There were no facilities in the area for tea/coffee etc., and no announcements or information from Azamara staff to let us know why we were delayed boarding so not a good start. After sitting for about an hour our number was called and we were taken to mini buses, it was fairly heavy rain and I think Azamara were waiting on the buses to come and transport us to the ship which was about 100 yards away, however we still weren't given a reason for the delay in boarding. Once onboard we were quickly checked in and our photo taken again, I had uploaded a photo online but this wasn't used, seems a waste of time doing it before hand so wouldn't do it again.There was a table for upgrading to the Ultimate Drinks Package and we had planned to do this anyway as it gave us more options, the selection of wines in the package were good and suited us. The Complimentary Drinks remain the same 2 whites, 2 reds which change daily, rose and a sparkling wine which are the same everyday. The ship has an identical layout to Journey and Quest with the exception of the Casino, which is now accommodating the Future Cruise Desk and The Den, it's actually a better use of the space. The ship was in good order and well looked after, staff were constantly cleaning which is understandable. Food in Discoveries Restaurant was a bit of a hit or miss, sometimes it was good other times bland, the service was also good in the restaurant but if you were on a large table there was a longer wait. The food in Aqualina and Prime C were excellent we had the 3 restaurant package and it was worth the additional payment, it was a nice atmosphere and a lot quieter. Service was also first class in these restaurants. Windows food was good but never stayed hot for very long, this was something I did raise at the time and it was acknowledged, but there was always a good selection. The Patio had a good choice of food, the baked potatoes and Chilli were excellent, again service from Vishal 1 and Vishal 2 was excellent, very attentive and helpful. Entertainment, Paul Martell an impressionist and Jane Scali singer were in the show lounge and were very good, Signature singers again in the show lounge were good. Vasi Katina a pianist who played in Den was good. White Sand Trio who played in The Living Room were not good, the young lady who was singing was good enough however there were 2 elderly gentlemen, 1 played drums and the other key boards and sang but they were not good, they didn't gel as a trio. We like The Living Room however we only went there once and never went back as this trio were on every night. The White Night was well attended and everyone enjoyed the Signature Singers and Tony Markey the cruise director singing. We didn't attend the Azamazing Evening which was advertised as an opera but I believe it was 3 Sopranos who sang a mixture of song types. We enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in the Prime C cocktail bar, Ruby was in charge and she was very efficient and knowledgeable about the drinks and made a mean French Martini. The included drinks remain the same 2 whites, 2 reds which change daily, rose and a sparkling wine which stay the same. One of the reasons we enjoy Azamara is the smaller ships usually get the good berths which means being close to the town, also the early arrival and late or overnight stays. We enjoyed all the ports, Port Vendres was cancelled due to rough seas and this was substituted by a stop in Sete which was very nice, Marseilles, Monte Carlo and Livorno were the other ports. We didn't book any excursions. The Captain and crew were noticeable around the ship and all the staff we had dealings with were very helpful, friendly and efficient. Overall this was a very good cruise and we met some lovely people, the passengers were mainly from USA, Australia and Canada and some from GB. The reason for the 4 star review was due to poor embarkation and the entertainment, however this would not put us off booking again as we very much enjoyed our time onboard Pursuit. Read Less

Several of the destinations were new to us and the overnight in Florence, Italy - we spent the night I the city due to the distance to the port - and ending up in Rome where we last had been in 1996. Weather caused us to miss two of the original ports but the extra day in Marseille was a bonus. We did not take any shore excursions offered by the ship since they were almost all early morning - not our thing. We did engage guides in two ports. Florence did not have a bus to the city which made it difficult to book our own tours - our normal preference. The Pursuit is a welcomed addition to Azamara even though the service had some minor hiccups due to the number of new employees. We were surprised to see the old dressing table in our cabin - would have thought it would have been replaced. The entertainment times and type were a disappointment - we normally take in several shows. The food and overall service was excellent. Read Less

I chose this ship mostly due to the itinery. Having sailed numerous times with Celebrity, Holland America, RC and carnival I decided to upgrade to a luxury cruise. I brought along my husband who isn't crazy about cruising but, but since it was close to our 30th anniversary he did it for me. I also brought along a couple who have never cruised before. So Ill start with the good....Staff was wonderful!! Food was very good (with the exception of my husbands New York Strip in Prime C that wasnt good at all...everyone else loved theirs) Other than that food was good. Buffett could stand to be hotter. Now comes the bad...and there was plenty of it. Starting with the toilets not working on and off ALL WEEK. Its pretty bad when you use the toilet to not be able to flush it and the fan doesn't work work so our cabin smelled bad a lot. Day two they told us they were sorry, but no other cabins available. Day three they told us and our guests to pack our bags, come after our 9pm dinner and they will move us. They move our friends first while we wait patiently...around 12:30 am they tell us they have no other rooms...!?!? Finally one magically appears and we get into our room about 1:30am. Around 3am after listening to a jet engine noise coming out of the ac unit (which did I mention wasn't working anyway and the room was unbearably hot?) we could not sleep..called and they told us to go back to original room... basically we did not sleep that nite which totally ruined our day since we were exhausted. Now we tried to make the best of a bad situation, but the ac never really got cold in our room, in fact the whole ship wasn't very comfortable. BUT there was one day getting ready for a private tour in Italy..my husband had excited the shower I was going to brush my teeth and shower when …..I HAD NO WATER!!! They had decided that 8am was a good time to address a plumbing issue (their words not mine...) on would have thought that maybe noon after everyone left for the day? My friends toilet didn't work more than it did despite changing rooms. I was beyond embarrassed since I talked up Azamara, being the one who arranged all this and this is what I bring them on for a luxury cruise that we spent ALOT on? So I have been told by my husband and my friends husband THEY WILL NEVER CRUISE AGAIN....and I blame that on Azamara. This was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime and it was anything but. And the insult was after telling management the men would never cruise again ...they offered us a $400 future cruse credit!!!! I will leave my reviews all over so all will know to beware the pursuit. We wanted to love it.....wanted to but they made it impossible. Please remember the beginning of my review the staff were awesome and itinery phenomenal BUT it was the problems with the ship. It has plumbing and ac issues and cannot imagine it will resolved between the time I left the ship and the new passengers come onto it hours later. Read Less

We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise which we choose on the basis of small ship and ports of call. This turned out to be the correct decision on both counts. We boarded the ship in Civitavecchia (17/7/19) and we were in our cabin within 15 minutes and the cases arrived soon after. Our cabin (7007) was adequate for our needs with sufficient storage. As others have highlighted the 'bathroom' is small and if our cat was with us I couldn't have swung him round in it!! Food Generally speaking we enjoyed the food which was of a good standard. We took breakfast in the Windows Café and dinner on occasion. Any buffet offering is going to suffer from how the food is presented and how hot they can keep it. In this area they did pretty well. Included in the fare is wine (or other alcohol) of your choosing. We found the wine to be of good quality and they keep your glass topped up if you so request it. We saw no need to choose any other beverage plan. Windows restaurant does suffer from being Cafeteria offering with at times it felt like a bit of a bun fight with some fellow guests having very sharp elbows. The dress code for Windows is very laid back with shorts and T shirts being perfectly acceptable. We also ate in the Discoveries restaurant which is a whole different experience. Its A La Carte with a reasonable choice with some repeats and a couple different specials each night . People 'dress up' with men in say smart trousers and open neck shirt and the ladies (as they do) going that extra mile with smart dresses etc. All this lends itself to a nice atmosphere where the waiter brings the food (3 courses) and tops up your wine. We also used the Mosaic Café for coffee and tea which was included. We did not eat in the Prime 'C' or Aqualina as we did not wish to pay the extra cost. People we spoke said it was OK without being blown away. Ports of Call Our ports of call were very good with most if not all were within walking distance of where the ship was moored or where the Tender dropped us off. We did not buy any ship excursions as they are ridiculously expensive. Besides you can plan and do your own thing or at the very least jump on the Hop On Hop Off bus which was parked up ready for punters at the point where you left the Ship/Tender. Enrichment Activities We had the AzAmazing evening in Mahon which was Flamenco and very entertaining. There was also the White Night evening where we all dressed in white and danced the evening away to live music and a very good buffet. Tip if you are intending to attend this event do get there early as tables fill up quickly. Facilities The ship was nicely furnished in a traditional manner leaving you to think you were in a 4/5 star hotel. There were a few public areas where you could relax if you didn't want to be outside. Outside in the pool area and on Deck 11 are loads of quality sun loungers for those who wish to take in the sun. Overall We found the staff to be friendly and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise and we would consider sailing again with Azamara if they address the price of excursions as an example $89 to go on a ships tour is an unbelievable price and also in this day and age WiFi should included. Chose the cruise based on the itinerary and comments from our cruise company that Azamara was really good! It was excellent! Smaller ship with 690 people and very much adult focused which we loved, room was great - bed super comfortable and kept neat and tidy and clean always. Common areas including The Living Riom and Thw Den we’re so inviting and warm. Really enjoyed them. Pool was perfect .never crowded, nor were the hit tubs! Lots of dining options.. Food was outstanding as was the service. Captain Carl was great and his team did some pretty impressive manoeuvres! Tony the cruise director did a great job órgano for many events and entertainment... especially the Azamaxing evening in Koper Slovenia... very impressive! Really liked having a local tourism rep come on at every por and provide some guidance! All round a 10! Will be sailing (soon we hope) with Azamara again! Read Less

This was our 4th cruise with Azamara and our first on the Azamara Pursuit. We have previously been on about 35 cruises (Costa, NCL, Cunard, Princess, RCCL. Celebrity, Regent, Crystal). This cruise did not disappoint! From the minute we got on the ship until we got off we loved every minute. Our only complaint is that our 7 day cruise was too short! As usual the crew was wonderful, very friendly and always giving us a friendly greeting. The food in the Discoveries Restaurant was excellent. We did not even bother going to the specialty restaurants. Capt. Antonio Toledo was wonderful. We got to speak to him on several occasions. We love the fact that the senior officers are so visible around the ship and greet you as you get off the ship when it is in port. To our surprise we had Tony as our cruise director. He was our cruise director on our first Azamara cruise. We also had another surprise when we were seated in the Discoveries restaurant with Noel as our waiter. He also was the waiter we had on our first Azamara cruise. Noel is an excellent waiter and we hope to see him on the Azamara Pursuit in the future. Chuck Richardson was our destination lecturer and he did a fantastic job. What we like about Azamara is the personal service and the intimate feel of the ship and no nickel and diming as on the larger cruise ships. We also like the fact that Azamara stays in ports longer. We liked the entertainment especially the Croatian dancers they brought on board in Dubrovnik. The violinist was also excellent. Fernando and Matthew were our future cruise consultants. We always had so many questions for them about future cruises and they always were there to help us. By the end of the cruise we booked 2 more Azamara cruises. We loved the Azamazing Evening but felt the music was way too loud. Azamara please keep up the good work. We hope on traveling the world with Azamara!!! Read Less

We were on the intensive Croatia cruise. Previously we have sailed on Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruise. Azamara was a delight in comparison. No constant high pressure sales, small ship, the all inclusive, and mature passengers made for a relaxing cruise. The staff were exceptional. Our room was quickly seen to every morning and evening and was always clean and everything we needed was always provided. Regarding the Veranda cabin bathroom, it is small, but the shower is ridiculous small. I am 5’8” and 135lbs and it was a tight squeeze for me. We loved the over all decor of the ship. We just wonder how they manage to keep the light carpets and furniture clean! The food was plentiful with many options while not outstanding it was not bad either. The White night and chocolate buffet were a lot of fun and amazing. We were in a port everyday and on the go all day so did not have time or energy for any of the entertainment that was offered. The free laundry was great although extremely crowded on the day we embarked. We found the Azamara excursions to be way over priced so with the exception of two excursion we booked our own. My only complaint was directions on getting to San Basilio and disembarking. We planned on taking a train to Venice and did not want to deal with water transportation to San Basilio. Azamara was of no help with this issue. After researching we found that by taking a train to Mestre we could hire a driver who took us directly by land to the port. On the day of disembarkation we had a driver picking us up at 6:30 am. Again I could not get any information out of Azamara before we boarded regarding what time we could disembark. Once on the ship we had to speak to three different customer staff members to get us on the list to disembark early. A little unnecessary anxiety. All in all we highly recommend Azamara and this Croatian cruise. Read Less

Our first Azamara was on the 8-day Croatian Intensive out of Venice. Previously we have cruised Celebrity and quite a few on RC. We were delighted with the experience. No one pushing drinks, spa service or pricey add-ons. Standard beer, wine and cocktails are included. The only option is for a high end drink package. We did not buy that but had excellent wines. We seldom encountered question lines anywhere and the staff was uniformly delightful. The excursions were well done, the Azamazing evening was incredible and White Night was a lot of fun. We enjoyed the more mature group on board, and met fascinating, friendly people. The food was uniformly good at every venue. Captain Tony was visible and accessible, as was CD Tony and the rest of the crew. We read previous staff reviews, but this crew seemed to be jelling nicely. I’m afraid, though, that this was a costly cruise...as we are spoiled now and cannot return to the bustling crowds, belly flop contests and waiting lines of less costly cruises. Read Less

Over the years, I have been privileged to sail on forty cruises. These cruises were on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney, Holland America, Cunard, Princess, NCL and some other lines that don’t even exist any longer. Out of all of those cruises, Azamara was simply the best. I am confused as to the Azamara Pursuit’s low ratings and inconsistent reviews. I concluded that since I am moving up from mass market ships, that maybe a reason why I feel that this cruise was really one of my best. People moving from higher level lines such as Seaborn, Silversea and the like would possibly be disappointed. Azamara is not a true luxury cruise line they live in between premium lines like Celebrity and luxury lines like Seaborn. Azamara, Oceania, Viking Ocean and Windstar are considered deluxe cruise lines in between premium lines (like Celebrity) and luxury lines like (Seaborn). I think if people understand and set their expectations correctly, they will enjoy a cruise on Azamara. What I loved about this cruise was the size of the ship, easy to get around and lines were a minimal. What a pleasure it was to not wait to be seated for dinner or for an elevator. The service was, for the most part excellent. The ports were fantastic and staying late is a nice feature. The particular Azamara cruise I sailed on was a Croatia intensive voyage. If you get a chance to visit this part of the world, take it. The ports were beautiful and historic. The décor on the Pursuit was very stylish and the ship looked brand new even though it has been sailing for many different cruise lines for the past 18 years of her life. I especially enjoyed the Azamazing evening and the White Night Party. All unique and gave the cruise a special touch. Food was also plentiful and mostly of high quality. The included drinks were enough for me as I drink very sparingly. I would have like to have seen more port/historical lectures. We had a gentlemen who presented on each port and he was great. I wish he could have done even more seminars on the history and geography of the region. I think Azamara could do more learning activities such as Cunard. Also, boarding in Venice could have been handled better however I think these issues have to do more with the port of Venice than Azamara. I will definitely be returning back to Azamara soon, it truly was the best cruise I have been on. Read Less

Just back from another (yes, another!) Azamara cruise, sailing this time from Venice to Athens. Not one, not two, but THREE new ports (for us). From day one this cruise was really special, from the wonderful greeting welcoming us onboard from Elizabeth, the Hotel Director, right through to the last night dining in Prime C with Emerson waiting on us so perfectly. Captain Antonio is such a wonderfully caring Captain making sure all his passengers and crew are happy and he has such a great sense of humour - it was wonderful to sail with him again. The hotel reception desk staff are so friendly and helpful. The Den is such a great place to meet up (as is The Living Room) but unfortunately a recent change has been the introduction of intrusive background music which is either so low it is just indistinguishable background noise or so loud it intrudes upon conversations. There are areas without it, fortunately, but only in the games room/internet area and the Sunset Verandah, The latter of which unfortunately does not have a Sunset Bar (though the waiting staff cope very well). The Journey Den area still has a casino until the next refit, but it does have a wonderful ‘window on the world’ multiscreen wall and I think it would make a great addition to The Den on the Pursuit. The entertainment isn’t what is was - now only four singers performing mostly uninspiring shows. For instance they perform one called ‘Broadway’ but perform songs from many British shows which eventually made it to New York. Also some of the songs seem unsuited to the voices of the singers who perform them (Solo Saxophone from “Miss Saigon” an example, with the singers singing ‘solo sax-I-phone’!) The White Night is a significant exception with the Azamara Pursuit’s revised White Night performance (possibly a full 90-minute long) really Top Notch and the best White Night on any of the Azamara ships. Cruise Director Tony Markey also has a first class show especially when accompanied by his wife Christine. Lee the Assistant Cruise Director, has such great people skills - always around making sure that everyone is having a great time. Fernando is a great LCV Ambassador and Cruise Sales Manager. We enjoyed a number of excursions on this cruise, usually with excellent guides but find (a) some of the excursion descriptions are not accurate, and (b) some excursions are sold to people unable to keep up, thus delaying everyone else. On the last night of this cruise we dined with friends in Prime C when Emerson waited upon us with sheer professionalism making the evening an absolute delight. However there were several people in the restaurant unsuitably attired - a young man in shorts and flip flops and another man wearing a straw hat and rambling pants. May I suggest that a note be included on the restaurant confirmation of booking card reminding diners of the expected standard of dress. This would make it clear and ease the embarrassment of restaurant staff. Why do we keep coming back to Azamara? Firstly, it HAS to be the crew - they are EXCEPTIONAL! They give such caring service and always so willingly and with a smile. At breakfast on the Windows Terrace this morning, Gina welcomed us and smilingly brought us our English breakfast tea. Azamara suggest that “You’ll love where we take you”, and we do. We love where they take us - we love HOW they take us, and we love WITH WHOM they take us (the wonderful crew and frequently other Azamara frequent cruisers). We look forward to sailing with Azamara again. We don’t intend to wait long - we sail again in July! Read Less

Hi everyone: INTRODUCTION For those of you considering taking a high end cruise, you may want to read my reviews of our experiences on board Crystal, Oceania, Seabourn, Silverseas, and Regent. I do focus on the food in my reviews, so I apologize in advance if it's not your main criterion. Interestingly, my wife and I had never heard of Azamara before we booked this cruise. We were in Greece for a destination wedding, and had to cruise on a certain day: Azamara's Pursuit was the only high end cruise available: boy what a lucky option it turned out to be! (Azamara is Royal Caribbean's luxury cruise line.) Let me start with a few minor disappointments: the specialty restaurants charge 30$ per person, and there is a charge for the wifi. We weren't really happy about these two things, and therefore things got off to a rough start. I know what you're thinking--and you're completely right: when spending that kind of money for a nine day cruise, why complain about a few small fees? I agree completely, but my wife was a bit upset. The ship was recently refurbished, so everything inside was "like new." They took out the casino, however--just an FYI. Their other two ships do have a casino. While this cruise only had one sea day; and thus I expect that many other passengers were able to use their carrier's data service while in Europe, and not the ship's wifi, their wifi was faster than the complimentary wifi offered on all the other cruise lines I mentioned at the start of this article. I was also given free wifi by my travel agent, so the internet turned out to be great after all. When I say "great" I mean you can check your email, and most web pages that aren't "image intensive" load reasonably quickly. (Don't even think about watching videos though.) You couldn't even do these things on the other ships I have taken. (I still don't understand why these high end cruise lines don't offer high speed wifi for an additional fee, as does Royal Caribbean and other mainstream cruise lines.) CONCLUSION I'll get to the details, but my wife and I enjoyed ourselves more on this ship than on all the other luxury cruises we have taken. Three reasons account for this: 1. The staff is extraordinarily friendly. 2. The food is delicious. 3. There is a great deal to do. DETAILS Staff As we were departing for an excursion, and I swiped my key card with the security guard, I saw on his monitor the words "Enjoy your time downtown." In other words, I get it: even though the staff is told to say these types of things, they do a good job "acting," and it comes across as genuine. You can't pass a crew member without them saying, "Did you go a shore today? How was it?" and so forth. Most of the crew exuded a genuine warmth which was definitely noticed by many other passengers as well. Everybody commented about the friendliness of the crew. Many other cruise lines staff go through the motions, but it doesn't seem as genuine as on the Pursuit. Food While the food was not as "upscale" as on Regent and Oceania, I enjoyed it much more! When I say "upscale" I am referring to expensive foods such as caviar, scallops, tuna, jumbo shrimps, lamb chops, sushi, etc. Honestly, I'm not sure why I enjoyed the food more on the Pursuit than on the other cruises I have taken. They didn't have as much of the aforementioned food items as Oceania and Regent, but they did serve each of the items. Even though there were no separate side dishes available with dinner, I still found more variety at every meal onboard the Pursuit than other ships. Breakfasts are pretty much the same--even on high end cruise ships, and fresh orange juice was always available. Very high quality smoked salmon, too. They also had a smoothie bar open for breakfast. Aside from the smoked salmon and fresh squeezed OJ, my experience has been breakfasts are the same on every cruise line, whether an expensive one or not. There seemed to be more variety for lunch than I have previously experienced. Always a pork dish, a chicken dish, a seafood dish, a pasta dish, a beef, dish a cutting board meat, etc. In addition to a huge variety of salads and vegetables, pizza etc. The mashed potatoes were amazing! I did notice many pork dishes available for lunch and dinner. This is a plus for me, but may not be for you. The desserts were amazing!: bananas foster, many "crumbles," tiramisu, ice cream, puddings. On Regent, it was only cookies in the afternoon. While Oceania has a famous "high tea" with about 8 daily desserts, i still enjoyed those on the Pursuit a bit more. The coffee shop always had a few sweets as well. The only negative I found, I also found on every other cruise: no drip coffee. Just the espresso machines. While I was surprised that there were no "sides" available at dinner--other than what came with your entree, the variety was quite large, and the food extraordinary tasty. Like the competition, they have a few items which are available every night in case you don't like the daily options. The food that was served in the buffet had some common items with the sit down menu; but it also had many dishes that were not available at the main restaurant. This is in contrast to many other ships, where the buffet food is identical (pretty much) to that served in the dining room. And just to be clear, tuna, scallops, steaks, lamb chops and sushi were available on different nights on the Pursuit. Not in the amounts found on Regent or Oceania, but available nonetheless. For the price we paid, this fact did put me off a bit. As much as I love pork, I felt I was "paying for lobster." MISCELLANEOUS I'm not sure if it's fair to compare cruise fares, because there are so many different fares depending upon when and whom you book with. But our feeling was that Azamara was among the more expensive cruise lines. A basic beverage package including alcohol is complimentary, but excursions and air fare are not. In addition, a suite with a balcony was thousands more than just having a window. I don't remember this being the case on the other ships we've taken. On the Pursuit they had a "white night" party where everyone is encouraged to dress in white, there is an outdoor barbecue and live performances by the entertainers--a lovely party. The quantity of food was what you might expect on Royal Caribbean: there must have been ten entrees and twenty salads, plus breads, appetizers, desserts, etc. As for the performances, the singers hit every note! The songs sounded remarkably like the original songs they were "covering." I'm very ignorant about music, but even I could hear that they did an outstanding job of singing. They also had a chocolate night on the last night: I missed it but heard it was very well done. Finally, they offered a complimentary evening in Dubrovnik, to listen to a famous local cello player. They bused us both ways, set up seating in the middle of an outdoor square, and arranged the concert for anyone on the ship who wanted to attend. A lovely touch. I'd say about one half to two thirds of the passengers showed up. There were two hours of trivia available each day. The cruise director hardly made any announcements--and none that went into your stateroom. The captan did make a few and they were well done. And a nice touch was that the disembarkation instructions were not handed out until the very end of the cruise: talk about a buzz kill! Many competitors do it on the second or third day. The spa had someone who did acupuncture (for a fee). I tried it for the first time for my hips and was pleased at the results. Gym is similar to what you might expect. Typical fitness classes were offered. We didn't do any Azamara excursions. A magician performed two shows on one night only and this was a refreshing change to the entertainment, which mostly consists of Broadway songs, and musicals, as is the case with most cruise lines. I can't stress enough that we had fantastic times on all the cruise lines I mentioned at the beginning of this review, but our new favorite is Azamara. Read Less

This was our first cruise with Azamara. A short, three day cruise followed with a post cruise package on the Orient Express. (I have not been able to positively verify, but believe this is the first season for a collaboration between the two. It was also the very first of these limited offerings) We arrived in Venice the day before and spent the night at the Hotel Antichi Figure. This is a lovely little gem situated on the Grand Canal directly across from St Lucia train station. We cannot say enough good things about this small hotel, from communications prior to our arrival to the lovely alfresco breakfast looking out at the activity on the canal. Embarkation was among the fastest and most efficient we have experienced. Heading up to the pool deck while we waited for the "all clear" for staterooms, we opted to lunch at the Patio where we found a wide assortment of cooked to order items are available daily. In addition to some of the best burgers we have had at sea, they also offer beef, lamb and chicken brochettes, in addition to a salad bar and other options. Other dining venues include the specialty restaurants (which we chose not to try this cruise) and the Windows Cafe, the buffet, which we only visited once. While understandably smaller than the buffets on other larger ships, do not let the size discourage you! The variety changes daily and they generally have a theme for dinner. The main dining room is quite nice, and the staff very attentive. Two specials of the day are offered at dinner, however we were not as impressed with with these. Overall we felt the menu was comparable with other lines we have traveled, and nothing to get excited over. Perhaps the specialty restaurants are where Azamara shines?The included wines (one red and one white) were nothing special but quite drinkable. Likewise, the included bar menu selections were quite restrictive. Surprisingly, even with the short itinerary, we were fortunate enough to experience a White Night Party on our second night. The buffet was amazing and the entertainment just the right mix to please everyone. Our Cruise Director, Tony Markey, was amazing and talented. First time to have a cruise director who was also an entertainer! Before we knew it we had returned to Venice. Disembarkation was smooth and efficient as well as our transfer to the Grand Monaco Hotel for two nights before our trip on the Orient Express. Having the extra day and a half was perfect to get in sights we had missed out on before. Transfer to the Orient Express was also efficiently handled and we were aboard the famous train in less than an hour. I will just say that the train itself lives up to its reputation for style and service. The amenities provided are first class. There was an abundance of food, but I will say that the quality was not quite what we were expecting (a large portion is obviously pre prepared and finished aboard the train). The scenery and ambiance were sensational. Bottom line while this was a short cruise, Azamara did not "wow" us as we had hoped. We were grateful for the opportunity to experience the Orient Express, but would not consider it something you would do more than once. Read Less

My wife and I took this cruise as our delayed honeymoon trip. I had never cruised before but my wife had been on a few with Royal Caribbean. Azamara was recommended to us by our travel agent as we wanted to see multiple cities in Italy without having to constantly carry around our luggage but were wary of the bigger ships. The best thing about Azamara is that they stay in ports late, in multiple ports we saw other ships docked/tendered leave hours before we did. To me, this was the best benefit as our goal for the trip was to experience the culture and cities we were visiting rather than just sit on a cruise ship for 11 days. My review may be a little naive since I do not cruise often but I felt the trip deserved some feedback. We stayed in Rome a few days before the ship took off and it was well worth it to see the eternal city. Once we got to the port for embarkation we were immediately pointed in the right direction and the staff took away our bags and led us onto the ship - no delays at all. We were greeted with a drink and told that our room was ready and lunch was being served in the Windows Cafe. We opted for the Club Continent Suite as it was not much more than a regular veranda and the added benefits (butler, included specialty dining, etc.) seemed worth it. The room was fantastic and was actually larger than our hotel room we had in Rome. The bed was comfortable with a nice size veranda and bathroom. The only knock on the room is I am rather tall (over 6 feet) and the shower was too short for me to fit in comfortably, I also felt the TV did not have many choices and the wifi was extremely slow. The food was good to very good and we never went hungry. We went to Aqualina twice and found that to be the best dining experience from the food to the service. The food & beverage manager, Mustafa, was very friendly and actually helped us get our second booking in Aqualina because the night we wanted to go was full. We mostly ate breakfast in the room or in the Windows Cafe where the buffet was great for breakfast. At times I felt the options and quality was lacking in the Windows Cafe for dinner but it is a buffet and the casual dining space for the ship so no real complaints there. The timing that the restaurants are open can be annoying as in the middle of the day you may have limited options. We typically only ate breakfast and sometimes dinner on the ship as we tried to eat in the ports we were in. We are not big drinkers so we did not upgrade the drinking package and felt the complimentary drinks were adequate but not great. The complimentary wines were actually very good. My wife is vegetarian and while they have a separate menu you need to order the meals in advance which wasn't a huge deal but can be annoying when you don't want to plan that far ahead. There was not much entertainment on the ship but that didn't bother us as we are on the younger side for the cruise and tended to explore around the ports or keep to ourselves. We did find ourselves playing darts/ping pong almost every night on deck 10! The service on the ship was fantastic, the staff was all friendly and helpful and our butler was great. The only real negative I have is the excursions. We booked five through the ship and felt only two of them were worth it. Maybe it was the ones that we booked but they were typically walking tours that were rushed and not that interesting and the ship charged us over $100 for each person. We found most the time we dreading the tours and couldn't wait for them to finish so we could explore on our own. I plan on booking another cruise on Azamara as I felt the service and value was great and the late port stays were a huge bonus. The ship feels more like a boutique hotel that travels which is great for what we wanted. The only thing I would do differently is avoid the ships excursions and book tours on my own or just explore. Food choices an d preparation outstanding. service tried hard but often inexperienced. Excursions few and poor. Nightly entertainment the worse I’ve seen. Disliked open seating. Never the same waiter or preferred table. best night was white night. if you don’t exercise,suntan, read,swim or drink on board nothing to do. Basic drink package with only three lousy beer choices and no liquor. Essentially second package should have been the first. Ports of call boring other than Marseille and Corsica.The ship is old and has many noises. We were moved to a balcony from an inside window due to banging noise of metal against metal. Spent three nights in Nice pre-cruise then experienced the smoothest embarkation ever. Out of the taxi, luggage whisked away, straight onto the ship where check in was in the Cabaret Lounge. Got our key cards, grabbed a glass of bubbly and went to sit in the Mosaic Café. Decided to have lunch in the Windows Café and it was lovely. Really liked that you were served in the buffet rather than helped yourself, to ensure there were no illnesses like noro transferred within the first 24 hours - nice touch. Guest services were excellent helping me with wifi connectivity and upgrading to premium drinks package. Nothing was too much trouble - lovely staff! Sat in the The Living Room for a quiet half an hour waiting for our staterooms to become available. Such a lovely relaxed space - wonderful! Stateroom was lovely with everything needed. Nice touch that soft drinks and still water were available to drink free of charge out of the refrigerator. The bathroom is compact but served its purpose and, yes the shower is small but I am 6ft as is my husband and we both coped admirably. Out attendants Dina and Mark were lovely and were there if we needed them. Breakfast served in the room on time every morning and everything we requested was delivered. Service in Discoveries during the first two nights was very slow - painfully slow on the first night, but did improve slightly. The waiters however were lovely and very pleasant. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Great wine selection. We did not try any of the speciality restaurants. Some of the service from the bar staff was hit and miss and we got the impression that they weren't very happy, one in particular was quite surly when we asked for another drink. Maybe it was an off night. We felt that the entertainment wasn't great. The pianist in the Den was actually quite rude to one of the guests when she asked for multiple requests which we found shocking and to be fair, we would have asked him to stop singing he was that bad, so he should have been flattered for any requests! The group in The Living Room was great and the lady singer especially had a fab voice, however the DJ that followed should come with a government health warning as the music he played was chronic and didn't seem to cater for a younger age group (and we're over 50!!). Ports of call were great, it was just a shame that the weather wasn't in our favour. Dis-embarkation was painless, quick and we were off the ship in 5 minutes flat. Superb planning! This would be our second cruise with Azamara, the first on the Quest which was amazing and numerous cruises with Celebrity and other cruise lines, however we felt that the pricing was way off on this particular cruise. We booked 18 months in advance, however about 8 weeks prior to the cruise the same category stateroom was available for half the price. We were, however, upgraded which somewhat made up for this, but still leaves a sour taste in the mouth as this upgrade was requested rather than offered. Read Less

Back to back process : very easy... This was so easy that you feel it’s just like another day of the cruise CABIN: Inside stateroom, 4038 - the room still does the job, practical, enough storage space (for us), tiny shower but you get used to. The room is in the middle of deck 4 next to a service door for restricted access to somewhere. It's a lot in use but didn't disturbed us. We pointed a couple of technical issues with the stateroom to the stateroom attendant and to guest relations and it was fixed in a properly timeframe. Our stateroom attendant, Francisco and his assistant: Julius (or Julian) did a great job keeping our stateroom in order, they were very fast. DINING / drinks / Bars: This week we really enjoyed the food in the buffet with a smaller but better selection of dishes than on the bigger ships. Here you get quality over quantity, something I feel is much better and less food goes to waste ( I think ). Also to get almost 90% new dishes every night is so much better than having a big selection that never change. When it comes to serving wine in the Buffett there is still potential for improvements. This week we also bought the Ultimate Beverage package again and when we order wine by the glass from the wine list usually the problems start. This is based on some nights and some lunches this week and you feel that as soon as you like to order wine that is not the one of the day, you see they get a little “oh, now I have to go and get that bottle” attitude. Some of the times they do not have the wine you ask for and bring you another one that substitutes it and that is ok, but please let us know before you start serving it to us, so we might be able to see if you have another we might prefer. There should also be a system maybe when you have ordered a wine from the wine list they can serve it in another wine glass (they did once) so other waiters know that you are not drinking the wine of the day and can ask what are you having and do you like some more. A couple of nights another waiter pass by and see your half empty glass and starts to pour the wine of the day and then mix it with a different one. It is not so nice to drink your Merlot and then they fill it up with Cabernet Sauvignon so we have to sent it back. This always happens specially if you drink a rose wine or a sparkling wine or Champagne for lunch/dinner from the wine list. However we still have to give them credit for always looking after you and you do never sit long with an empty glass. Azamazing evening Buffett and White Night Outdoor dining were great again as expected ENTERTAINMENT / ENRICHMENT / ART PROGRAM After beeing on board for two weeks, we have seen the shows and you can find it in our other reviews, this cruise Azamara has brought on board “A night at the Opera”... Believe me, this was a hit, incredible Italian talent for just one show... this was like the Azamazing Evening elevated and on board. Talking with Sam, one of the Art experts on board, we learned about the Azamara Art program and to us it sounded great, the approach to work with some emerging artists and some well established names and bringing them onboard to work while traveling and being also available to talk with the guests is a great way to connect. No art auctions but a small Art gallery where they exhibit these pieces and change it during the voyages. The price range is accesible for what I could think is the Azamara client. We had the chance to meet and see Gary Smith during the first two weeks and his work is really great. We also learned about other artists that Azamara has had onboard and the Art channel on the TV is another great way to enrich your art knowledge / curiosity. They also offer some lectures (if times allows it) about different artists. We put our eyes on some pieces and The only reason we did not buy the ones we liked is that we are moving into our new home (apartment) and we still have to figure out the use of the space in the walls we have. The enrichment lectures: For us traveling is not just about monuments or famous places but about culture, people, history, food, Art, etc. Is about learning about the places we visit and understanding the people and it’s cultural expressions. We attended some of the enrichment lectures and we are very happy we did. There is an historian on board for the next voyages, sorry I don’t remember his name or how long will he on board. It’s not the typical lecture that will tell you what to go and see but that will teach you about the history of the places, and this will make you understand the place. I highly recommend you to attend the lectures. SERVICE: In general the service level around the ship is excellent. Kudos to all the senior officers specially, Hotel Director Ryszard; F&B manager Elizabeth for making us feel at home and they are always visible around the ship. Read Less

We are just back from our third Azamara voyage in about 18 months- this time on the Pursuit for an eight day Italy Intensive voyage from Rome to Venice. For background purposes, our earlier travels with Azamara did not give us a good first impression of this line. On our first trip, we had repeatedly difficulties with the online booking engine and the price promotions would not carry over to the actual booking. As I always like to book our travels directly, this caused some frustration and the response that we "need to use a travel agent" was not going to happen. After several phone calls, we did get it straightened out so we decided to proceed with the trip. On our second voyage, the front office repeatedly gave out misinformation as to where the ship was docking for embarkation (in Sydney, Australia) despite the port authority saying otherwise. Even our final documents showed the wrong location. Again, I was ready to give up. This third journey, I have to say, not only went forward without a hitch, but also convinced us that those who always state "it's the Azamara onboard experience that counts" are right. We began our trip in Rome and used Rome Cabs for a same day transfer to our hotel in Civitavecchia, the Hotel San Giorgio. Our driver was prompt, polite, and provided a very safe ride directly to our lodging. Highly recommend Rome Cabs for transfers to/from FCO. The Hotel San Giorgio is in a beautiful location right on the water front and we were warmly greeted after a long day/night of travel. The room was comfortable and quiet and we had dinner at the very good onsite restaurant. The hotel also provided breakfast and a timely transfer to the ship the next day. Embarkation for the Pursuit took literally 5 minutes- absolutely no lines or queing up. I love being greeted by smiling crew members who hand you a glass of sparkling wine and take your carry on bags so you can begin enjoying the ship. The Pursuit immediately had a very positive vibe. As the newest member of the Azamara fleet, there was still that "new car" feel to her, and everything sparkled. We were anxious to check out the new "Den" which replaced the old casino and just loved it. We spent many hours there and it became our go-to place for cocktails and relaxing. We are thrilled that this change is being made on the Quest and Journey as well. Our Club Veranda stateroom on deck 7 was exactly as we expected- small but with loads of storage and a very comfortable bed. Yes, the bathrooms are small too, but they are functional and you work with it. After our last cruise on the Quest, I commented that Azamara had definitely improved significantly in terms of food and service. The Pursuit took this one step farther. In Windows Cafe, the Patio, and Discoveries Restaurant, we found the food and staff to be excellent. We always were able to get a lovely table for two, usually by the window. Just be patient, go a bit later to the dining room, and they will do their best for you. The master of the Pursuit, Captain Antonio Toledo, and his senior staff were highly visible as was our cruise director, Amanda Poulson. The Azamara perks- White Night, AzAmazing Evening, and the Officers' barbecue, all were fantastic- well organized and fun to attend. Italy itself was a spectacular destination. Several of our ports were repeats for us, but with every trip to this country we just grow fonder and fonder of the people, the scenery, and, of course, the food. We won't go into too many port specifics here, but will add that we fell in love with Sorrento, and discovered a new part of Venice on a rainy day (which just added to the atmosphere)! The demographic of our fellow guests was similar to our other Azamara cruises with a few more younger (30-something) couples. It is always interesting chatting with other well-traveled folks who appreciate the smaller ship and less visited ports. There are two areas of Azamara which continue to cause us some discourse- the first being the included beverages vs the upgraded packages. Many passengers (and bar personnel) were confused by what is and isn't included, and the mixers used continue to be awful. No sense drinking a high end gin (like Hendricks) and mixing it with Royal Club tonic. Secondly, and more importantly, is the huge amount of plastic water bottles used each cruise. Whilst it is nice to have unlimited drinking water, seeing the bins filled with disposable water bottles everywhere is heartbreaking. With 8 million metric tons of plastic being thrown into our oceans annually (source: earthday.org), it would be so easy for Azamara to simply stop using them. Install a few refillable water bottle fountains on the ships like those now becoming commonplace in cities around the world. I think guests would appreciate an inexpensive refillable water bottle more than another tote bag. All in all, we really loved our Italy Intensive voyage on the Pursuit and did visit the Cruise Again desk to book a trip in 2020. In a world where everything seems to be getting bigger and bigger with more people, Azamara fills a niche where less is more. We look forward to many more great experiences. Read Less

We chose Azamara because of the itinerary (Italy intensive) and the size of the ship. I had never been on a cruise before but after seeing some of the other huge ships in some of the ports, I was very glad we chose Azamara. The service was first class, the food was very good with lots of variety. We only ate in the main dining room 3 times: once to try it, once because we couldn't find a table at the White Night party and again for the delicious brunch they had. We ate almost every meal in Windows because we could choose the table we wanted (we could sit at a table for four even though we were only two) which usually meant we could get a window seat when there was something to see. Waiters were the best I've ever had. Room service was extremely prompt if you scheduled your breakfast for the next day and really pretty quick if you ordered just coffee and orange juice which we did almost every morning. You won't go hungry on this ship. There is food available most of the time and then room service 24/7. The included spirits were fine with us. The wine was just fine too. The cabin was very clean with comfy beds and linens. Turn down service in the evening also. The only complaint we had was the laundry. Too many people on the ship for just one laundry room. It was pretty crowded and I think maybe Azamara should add one more laundry room for the size of ship. Read Less

OK pulled up to the port for embarkation and since the ship was in Port of Nice until 10pm that evening there was no line. I mean no one. Walked thru a tent right outside the ship, up and on quickly since we had uploaded our photos on the Azamara website. Directed into the Cabaret and received our room keys and went to a nice lunch in the buffet. Easiest embarkation ever experienced! We had the Club World Owners suite on the back of the ship Cabin # 7114. Perfect location as we werent below a restaurant. We have been sailing on NCL in The Haven and decided to try this for the ports of call and were concerned about being on such a small ship. That concern was gone immediately. The cabin was spacious, well stocked and clean. Many towels all over for the balcony, beach, whatever you needed. The first night we decided to eat n the main dining room, which we almost never do on larger ships and the food was excellent! Many options and specials every night. For lunch when we were on board we ate at the buffet but this isnt like any buffet you have seen, Crown Roast one day, many options and same for breakfast. Now to give you an idea of the quality of service, my wife has a food issue, she cant have anything cooked with extra salt or salted. We made this known and from the on no matter where we ate someone was there to make her anything she wanted just without salt. They even went so far as to bake her fresh bread for breakfast and dinner without any salt! There was a dinner for guests in the 10 largest suites called the Best of the Best! WOW! It was served in the library with the Captain, First Officer and other staff. White Glove service with wine paring. A real experience. White Night Party beautiful, with a Buffet and BBQ Lobster Tails, pasta, everything. Azamazing Evening was at an old Opera House in Livorno for a small performance that was extremely enjoyable. We experienced two minor issues. One was that the staff was all new so they werent quite up to speed as to how to go the extra mile yet. They were very good but just didnt go the extra step not because they were rude, they just didnt know. For example we had a butler and the first day asked him to bring coffee and tea every morning at 8am. he said we had to fill out the card and hang it on the door every night. One would think this was something he could have taken care of since he brought it to us every day. Not a big deal but just inexperience. The second was on an excursion. We were in Santa Margarita and wanted to go to Portofino for the day. So we hopped on a cheap tour offered by Azamara just for the ride and we had room credit to spend. Well we waited on the dock for a public ferry for close to an hour, Granted it was Easter Sunday but we expected a company like Azamara to have a private shuttle for their tour, maybe we were expecting too much. However upon our return a staff member asked how the tour was and I said I dont want to complain. They insisted I say something so I explained the situation. Apparently they are offering what they call "sightseeing" inexpensive tours since people have commented that their immersive excursions are expensive. So now they are trying less expensive tours. Anyway they made things right. Since this was an "Immersive" sailing we were in port everyday so by the time we returned each day we ate and walked a little and went to bed so we didnt experience any of the shows. Last night they have a chocolate buffet which is amazing! I loved it because the small personal nature you get to know the staff and the higher ups on board as they are always visible. Also, its an upscale cruise but not stuffy! No jackets required and decent casual comfortable clothes. I dont like to have to wear a jacket when Im on vacation unless I have to Would I go again! Azamara Pursuit - Italy Intensive, second leg of a Back to back to back. Hi there, we are Jorge & Stian (a.K.a the arctic husbands) from Norway, this will be our 21st cruise; third with Azamara. This is the second leg of a B2B2B. This second week we had an Ocean View stateroom in deck 4, cabin 4000 Back to back process : very easy... This was so easy that you feel it’s just like another day of the cruise CABIN: Ocean View stateroom, 4000. Coming from the Continent Suite you feel the space is much less, specially in the bathroom... the room still does the job, practical, enough storage space (for us), tiny shower but you get used to. The room is totally at the front of deck 4 so noise and vibration could be an issue for some people. We are early morning and early sleepers so it doesn’t bother us that much...  Our stateroom attendant, Paulo did a good job keeping our stateroom in order but we noticed this time that it could take longer time for them to make up the stateroom, again for us this was not an issue but understand that for some this could be a “thing”... this time due to space constraints we never ordered breakfast or room service DINING: This week we just have dined in Discoveries and the buffett aka Windows Cafe, quality of food and service has been again really on point, good variation of the menus. Azamazing evening Buffett and White Night Outdoor dining were great again as expected BARS: For this week we decided to just go with the complimentary drinks and wines and it worked well for us this week during the experiment, The included red and white wines change daily (2 whites, 2 reds) but the rose and the sparkling ones do not. Quality of the wines was good but if you have special preferences for the kind of wine you like it may be not in the daily rotation Regarding the drinks and cocktails you can easily go through the week with the complimentary drinks and cocktails but again if you like certain liqueurs, cognacs, whiskeys and/or bourbons and high end brands for vodka and Gin; these are not included in the complimentary menu. After our experiment we can see that for cruises of seven to 10 days the price/ value of the ultimate package is well worthy if you like to have the option to choose the wines you like or to have a couple of cocktails or drinks at night with high end brands, cognacs, etc. ENTERTAINMENT: We still love the intimacy of the cabaret lounge shows and the signature singers are so good... the guest entertainers: White Sand Trio and the pianist are really great for evenings of music in the Den or in the Living room. This week we attended the Amanda’s Show: Epics... I just loved her more. Not just she is an amazing cruise director but an incredible singer; it is just lovely and you get to know about her career but also about her as an artist and a person... with beautiful songs I am not going to spoil but make yourself a favor and go and see this show... Super Amanda. Azamazing Evening in Livorno... just an incredible concert in a beautiful Opera Theater. Standing ovation to the performers White Evening party: This time we stayed longer and enjoyed the Party and the music...All the staff makes a great effort for this event and you should not miss it. SERVICE: In general the service level around the ship is excellent. We had a little issue during this cruise that we complained about and it got quickly addressed by Senior Management (Thanks to the Marketing manager) and this shows that Azamara takes us as guests very seriously and go out of their way to make us feel at home. Kudos to all the senior officers specially, Hotel Director Ryszard; F&B manager Elizabeth for making us feel at home and they are always visible around the ship. Having been on over 20 cruises with MSC, NCL, Royal Caribbean, P&O, and Cunard, we were not sure what to expect on this, our first, cruise on Azamara. We have always enjoyed every cruise, sometimes this has of course meant focusing on the positives, and so we were looking forward to cruising on the Azamara. Our main concern, because we like to socialize and party, was that the demographic would be different and maybe the atmosphere a tad "stuffy". However, we thought the service and food would be excellent, the cabin comfortable, and the itinerary was great - as a student 40 years ago I spent a summer hitch-hiking around Southern France and hadn't been back since to that region. Well the food and the service was indeed excellent and the ship immaculately clean - a credit to all the hard working and friendly staff on board. The cabin was tastefully decorated and the bed extremely comfortable with bed linen of the highest quality. Our cabin attendants worked very hard to ensure the highest of standards too. As expected, the itinerary was also well planned, and particularly for me, fascinating. It was awesome to be able to visit small coastal ports and towns that the bigger ships can't reach. Everything was really well organised. The "Azamazing" experience - I believe there is one on every cruise - was also well planned and I enjoyed the evening's entertainment provided at a venue in Marseille. I heard one or two comments from a few other guests, who had travelled Azamara before, saying it was not as well organised as usual and the show a little short, however we felt it all went smoothly enough (quite a manoeuvre getting 600 or so passengers off a ship on coaches to the venue and back again!) We also thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment put on for us - an excellent experience! The real surprise on this cruise however were our fellow passengers - a great range of ages and characters and not at all "stuffy" as feared. We met lots of friends from the US, Australia, Norway, Germany and the UK, and every night in the Living Room our group got larger and more enveloping as we had fun listening and dancing to the DJ and sharing stories of our travels and other life experiences! Just a few other points - embarkation and disembarkation was easy and efficient, Prime C, one of the speciality restaurants, was excellent and very good value, and the gym well equipped and spacious for a smaller ship. Overall we had an absolute blast - we loved this cruise, the ship, what Azamara provides and we would definitely recommend this ship. We look forward to our next cruise on board an Azamara ship. Absolutely brilliant time had by all. Cabin great, a lot bigger than I was expecting and we were well looked after by our room attendant, sometimes to the point where it became a little bit irritating as he was ALWAYS there, nonetheless cannot fault his work and cabin was always clean and tidy each day. Food was amazing, lots of choice and catered to all tastes. If you couldn’t find something you liked then you have a problem - and this is coming from a very fussy eater myself!! Loved the outside areas and abundance of sun loungers available. The only thing that really let this cruise down was the entertainment which was shockingly BAD. The AzAmazing night was a complete waste of an evening, performances were very mediocre at best and did not seem as though the dancers had rehearsed at all. We spent more time getting on and off ship / coaches than anything else so really not worth the hassle. Spoke with several people after thus event and all were of the same opinion!! Other entertainment shows were awful - I have heard better kareoke singers in my local town than anyone actually employed on Pursuit. And as for the so called DJ - an absolutely awful human being, very rude and not at all friendly towards our party on the nights that we did venture into his domain. Said NO to every song request we asked for and was very abrupt- he actually ruined our night!!! The entertainment aspect definitely needs to be looked into and said DJ to be replaced by someone who actually knows how to do a disco and accommodate all people present and be able to converse in a friendly manner with all guests. Hi there, we are Jorge (40) & Stian (42) (a.K.a the arctic husbands) from Norway, this will be our 20th cruise; second with Azamara. This is the first leg of a B2B2B. This first week we had a Club Ocean Suite stateroom. We booked these cruises to celebrate our 10th years marriage anniversary and because after meny RCCL and Celebrity we wanted to experience Azamara again and the ports of call in the meditterannean where the big Ships cannot go PRE-CRUISE: Barcelona... One night stay in the Eurostar’s Grand Marina, next to the port where Azamara starts... so the check out, walk to the ship was a decisive factor... we have been several times in Barcelona and sightseeing was not something we needed this time around. The Hotel is OK, nice but dated rooms, a reception staff that smiles but doesn’t do their job, the best of the stay is the small restaurant offering a Gourmet dinner experience and this was a highlight of the trip... the food and the wine pairings were PERFECT... do we recommend this hotel... yes for a stay next to the port. EMBARKATION: very easy... just five minutes and then we were on board. SHIP: Pursuit is a beautiful ship. The newest of their kind... elegant, sophisticated and the color palette makes you feel happy. CABIN: for this first leg of the back to back we upgraded (at last minute) to a Club continental suite, we got 8039, perfect location and the only suite I have ever said OMG WAO when opening the door... the colours, the decoration, the style and the light. No noise problems, at least for us. SUITE CLASS PERKS: Internett: 235 minutes per guest, which is OK but slowly but after all you´re on holiday and IT works for reading emails if you ned it. Butler service: our butler Roy has been outstanding, amazing level of service when we have requested our breakfast in the suite, our tea service in the afternoon. I will post a picture of the letter in the stateroom with all of the suite perks you can get DINING: This week we just have ate dinner in Aqualina or Prime C, given that is included in the suite perks. Once we had dinner in the buffet (before the Azamazing evening) and once with the White party buffet that was AMAZING. Aqualina and Prime C quality of food and service has been really on point. Room service: we had breakfast in the rom almost everyday and it was very very very nice to have the extra space the suite provides and the balcony breakfast when it was not so cold in the early hours. BARS: For this first week we decided to buy the ultimate drinking package and it worked well for us this week. We got to try most of the included wines when having dinner, and some of the premium drinks we enjoy when on a cruise. For the second week, we decided not to buy it so we can compare the experience.... Our favorite place for drinks so far is The Den... it is just a very nice place, with some piano music on the evenings and the best bartenders and waiters. ENTERTAINMENT: This week we attended all the Signature Singers shows (3 shows) and they were good. These guys can sing and dance and keep you entertained for the 45 minutes signing along. We loved the intimacy of the cabaret lounge shows, if you´re expecting but productions shows, this is not the case and it works for Azamara. Azamazing Evening in Marseilles, Palais du Pharo. Was very entertaining, a kind of cabaret show with very french music, dancers and two great vocalists. White Evening party: we are not party people so we didn´t stay long after the White Evening Buffett ended but the party looked nice and people was enjoying themselves. All the staff makes a great effort for this event and you should not miss it. SERVICE: In general the service level around the ship is very good. Of course there are some that are just good and there are some people that just go above and beyond. SHORE EXCURSIONS & Ports of call: * Port Vendres: small, charming village, we just walked around and then found a hiking path that takes you to the other small town Collioure (or something like it). The Wall in the green areas around the Coast line is just very very very nice and easy with some amazing views. Breathtaking * Sanary Sur Mer: Beautiful town, the marina, the restaurants and cafes, it was very beautiful. We just walked around and enjoyed perplekse watching here and there. * Marseille: a vibrant city, we walked around, did some shopping and visited the Cathedral. It was great to be docked just in the center of town (or very very close) * St. Tropez: we took and organized excursion from Azamara and loved every minute; we visited Gassin and Ramatuelle and the Bertaud Bellieu wineyard for wine tasting. The guide we had has to be the most amazing guy we ever had AS a guide. We actually think we got a lecture on wine making, all about the process and the technology and traditional methods. The wine was so good we bought three bottles to take with us to the ship and enjoy in the stateroom. Also the small towns Gassins and Ramatuelle were beautiful and we got to learn about the history of the places. In Ramatuelle we enjoyed some free time that we used eating cheese and hams with a cold bottle of Rose wine from a local wine yard. It was an amazing day. The port of St. Tropez by itself, was not as expected, it was crowded and just a marina with amazing yachts, the best was the local artists selling their paintings around the marina. Beautiful paints and interesting people. * Cannes: we have been in Cannes several times so we decided to go for the Excursion of the ship to Grasse with a perfume factory visit and to St. Paul de Vence. And again we got a great guide, the visit to the perfume factory: Fragonard; this was very enriching and we could resist and bought two new Eau de Colognes with shower gels... Then we visited St. Paul de Vence and OMG this small hilltop village is just amazing, it breathes art from everywhere. The local artist and small galleries in the very narrow streets, the views from the wall of the town, the small restaurants... once again we learned about the local history with our guide and in the free time we just walked around and decided to have a very French lunch, we found a little place where they make sandwiches, so we bought a baguette with local produced cheese and ham, and sat on the wall and had our small French sandwich picnic there... just beautiful. * Monaco: Last minute changes out of Azamara control, The port authorities closed the port in Monaco so we got diverted to Nice... for the last night and day of this first cruise. We will explore a little bit of Nice today. NEXT CRUISE OFFICE: So far they have made a good job and we booked a cruise for 2021, Western Africa sailing from Cape Town to Lisboa. The benefits of booking on board make sense for us coming from the Nordic market. Read Less

This was our 5th Azamara cruise and we were eager to sample the latest acquisition Pursuit. Although we are not fans of the new modern decor, it was ok but a bit Ikea style. Shower over bath was not worth using, easier to run a bath. In the suites the large one person chair, makes it difficult for 2 people to watch tv without one sitting on the bed. Why no sofa ? The food was dreadful this time, very fish based and as I have a fish allergy this meant my choices were few. Used the buffet more because of this but the food was cold there or of poor quality. Entertainment was terrible and Cruise director mostly just made announcements not to usual standard. Dancers did not show up for lessons, very little to do during bad weather and hygiene is normally very high on the list of priorities, hardly ever mentioned and not pushed to use sanitizer. One other thing, there were children on board of officers, running around the public rooms and screaming as iif it was tgeir home. This will be our last. Read Less

We booked this cruise as we really only wanted a short haul flight and enjoy Spain very much. As usual we have a couple of nights beforehand in Lisbon and arranged our own flghts. The flights we booked were GBP150 a person cheaper than using Azamara. We are based in London UK. We have been on the two other Azamara ships and this is identical apart from no casino and lack of interactive TV. I have to say I did miss my slots so might end up back on Celebrity. I downloaded the app before travel but to be honest it was very buggy and like a lot of Azamara IT/back office prettly poor. We had a nice balcony cabin on deck 7 which was clean and tasteful. The shower was tiny and not sure if it was smaller than other ships but really seemed that way. Our cabin steward looked after us very well. The flat screen had a good picture but I really miss not being able to view my account online, order room sevice or book tours. I really feel the app doesn't take the place of this. We had free internet minutes but there was no way to see how many you had left unless you went to the front desk which was very strange. The service was all round very good and we enjoyed our meals. I found the wine to be a very mixed bag with some very mediocre inclusive wines. It's almost like they want to make everyone buy up to to higher drinks package. I also found the all inclusive spirits very strange. I like an odd Amaretto but that isn't free but you can drink a bottle of whisky. It makes no sense to me.I also found the drinks to be full of ice and sometimes just didn't seem to have any oomph. The entertainment was very subdued but that's what Azamara is like. I go to relax so it's not a problem for me. The clientele was mostly elderly Americans as it's not holiday time and there are no kids clubs etc. Mostly very pleasant but i saw some peope talk to the staff like servants which was very uncalled for. I am 49 so did feel very young! We enjoyed out ports of call even if the weather at the begining was poor. Going up the river to Seville was very interesting and a real treat. We also enjoyed Almeria very much. In Valencia we had our Azamazing evening which was not bad. Unfortunately we were right at the back so could not see the full stage which does spoil it somewhat. The venue however was amazing. All in all we had a pleasant time. I think after six cruises with Azamara we will try Regent or Oceania. They seem to offer better value. I feel that Azamara is overpriced unless you book within 3 months and then there are always offers. I also feel their all inclusive drinks package patchy. Read Less
