Cuban fusion We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. I wasn't looking forward to it after reading all the negative reviews. Arriving in Jamaica was a hoot, ok filling imigration forms in a corridor is not ideal but passport control none existant totally laidback typically Jamaican. The ship seemed a bit tired on the outside but what a lovely surprise once on board quite the opposite well looked after clean and everything looked reasonably new and very comfortable. The crew always busy keeping the ship clean lots of brass that was polished every day. Our Cabin steward (Mahrus) was there and made sure we had everything we required. Nothing over the week was to much trouble for him he was brilliant. We don't normally do excursions but so glad we did, the guides were all local and boy did the know their stuff, well worth the money. I'm gluten and lactose intolerant but didn't have a problem all week. We ate in Orions in the evening and there was always at least two items on the menu I could eat. The food was well presented hot and very enjoyable. The waiters were great, only negative the Head waiter (Boris) wasn't very happy when a table for two was requested. Soya was always available, so much so Natasha in Sirens brought it every morning without being asked. Afternoon tea was a big disappointment, not much for the gluten customer (a plain scone, muffin, cookie and sandwich) everyone else fabulous. Sea days great just take the opportunity to lie back and relax I did, Manchester airport was great, cases disappeared and appeared outside our cabin brilliant. The dream liner was great (we chose premium) better than British Airways newer planes I suppose. The plane coming back not so much an older plane premium not worth the extra money. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our first cruise so much so we've just booked do the Pride of Panama next year (Discovery 2). Don't be put off by negative reviews invariably by people who have cruised for years and always go with Cunard, P & O etc or so they say probably next to the engine room. All the complainers on our cruise were never above deck 4 says it all (all fur coat and no knickers). Go for it and enjoy Read Less

We choose this cruise as a first cruise and the choice of Ports and Excursions. The Ship has some lovely vintage public areas ( Main bar and Dining Rooms) which had echoes of a more glamorous era. The alternative dining facility was reminiscent of a staff canteen/airport. Other Bars on board are more intimate. The Casino sports 8 slot machines and a home size casino table. There are 2 pools largely for cooling off. There was usually enough space on deck at some point to stare at the Sea but the usual bagging sunbeds at dawn persisted daily on our trip with no visible intervention. Perhaps its a secret sport? Who knows as the winners are rarely seen. The cruise we were on was unable to dock due high seas/no parking which resulted in 2 extra days at Sea. Thomson Dream is not really set up for this interruption as on Board entertainment included Bingo, Out of date black and white comedy videos and some form of flattened darts. This for 1500 people lacked imagination. It can't be that unusual for the Ship to be required to entertain for the day? The Cover bands at Night were excellent but the Comedy MC type turn was characterized by a lack of confidence and wit.I appreciate comedy is personal but he was the only person laughing. Food was plentiful and varied but not cuisine. Service almost always excellent. Disembarkation in Port was flawless but arrival on Montego Bay at the start of the trip would have been comical if not so irritating. We were herded on to a bus and given a form to complete whilst the bus was moving and then processed by land side staff largely by shouting and hand signals. Didn't work that well with folk just off a 10 hour flight. The Shore Excursions were great value and enjoyable. I will cruise again but possibly not with Thomson unless I am short of a Bingo fix Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. We have been cruising for the past 16 years and never had cause to complain to any of the companies we have used prior to sailing with Thompson's. When we boarded we were shocked by the bad odour and shabbiness of the ship. The furniture in the cabin was chipped and had seen better days. The bed extremely uncomfortable, pillows misshapen. We never had a decent nights sleep and woke with back ache every morning. The hot food in the sirens restaurant was barely warm. Food in the Orion restaurant was mediocre only the breakfast was enjoyable. We were on board 7 nights during that time my husband suffered GI and we were both in quarantine for more than 24 hours. Two days later I suffered the same illness and again we were in quarantine. So spent 3 days out of the 7 in quarantine. Resulting in us not seeing Panama or the second port in Colombia. The entertainment was amateur, not enough sun beds on the sun deck & no where to sit. We paid extra for premium seats on the plane. On our return journey we had to sit separate. We requested seats together but told the plane was full. However, a couple standing in the queue to board said they were awaiting to see if they could get an upgrade. To our horror this couple boarded once we were all seated and taken to seats along side each other at the front of the plane. I don't object to anyone having a upgrade, but I do when it's at my expense. Read Less

Cruising was a first for my husband and I, we were on holiday to celebrate my parents birthdays and this was their choice. The travel itinerary was excellent and took in places such as Costa Rica, Panama and Cuba to name just a few of our destinations. We did many of the official tours which were good, especially The Panama City Tour and The Havana Highlights ones, these were very informative, the guides English was excellent and you really took in the history, sights and atmosphere, we visited a rescue centre in Costa Rica which was my personal favourite. The entertainment on the ship was first class with the nightly theatre shows very professional even when the boat was a little bumpy. What really made the cruise for us was the staff. All the staff were friendly, eager to please and Natasha in the Orion Restaurant and Eugene our wine waiter were superb. Nothing was too much trouble, from fetching an extra cracker to go with our cheese or keeping our wine glasses topped up without us asking. All the staff from cleaners to the Captain were cheery, helpful and carried out their duties with a smile. Yes the boat is a little dated, the food is very good rather than excellent but everything was clean, the public toilets were always clean! at the self service restaurants in busy times you might have to queue but then this isn't a luxury holiday (but then you aren't paying luxury prices) but if you want value for money and an enjoyable trip then this is the boat for you! We chose this cruise because of the relaxed dress code.This was our first cruise. so evening dress was out of the question.We both like to dress up ,but on our terms .So it was nice to have the choice after a day excursion that we could just chill and have our evening meal in the self service restaurant,if we wanted to.anything went in there. Even shorts and T shirts was acceptable.The food in the Orion restaurant was excellent ,as was the service We had the best rib eye steak that we had tasted You could either share a table or have one for the two of you The all inclusive carried on at the dining table were the waiter took your order .The service was like a well oiled machine,everyone had there courses without waiting very long, and were hot.To say how many people ate at one time , it still amazes me how they did it. The self service restaurant was also very good, plenty of choice.such as soup salads .hot meats cold meats cooked veg.chips. Pasta dishes Pizzas. Stir frys and plenty more . The staff were constantly keeping a watch on the food keeping it tidy, and changing the trays as soon as they started to look a little empty.Food was not allowed to fall out of the containers, before it got wiped away keeping it looking nice even if you went very late in the evening.The ship is 36years old., so it is tired looking. We didnt care about that as we were only concerned how clean it was as I have O.C.D. out off my own house.It came up to expectations.(thank god )The entertainment was brilliant. Thompson Excursions were a bit hit and miss. We had a trip round Aruba, waste of money, there was nothing of interest at all. Get a taxi to the beach it will be better. we felt ripped off. we also felt the same when we went on a excursion with Thompson again to Santa marta that was even worse.again nothing of interest. and these trips are not cheap. Havana was great .We had a thompson coach take us to the town and gave us a guide to show us around.Worth every penny The showTropicana is a must.it looks expensive, but booking it through thompson , we got a good table.and a bottle of presseco bottle of rum to share between 4people and as you are on a thompson bus you can drink the lot,..Unfortunatly the ship had to leave two people behind as they were late to embark.They had got the wrong time to return to the ship.The captain felt terrible ,but he had to go,as there was another ship waiting to dock. Thompson removed all their belongings and put their cases on the quay. A rep that was on the quay then took over to make sure they were ok. This is why we took all the trips with thompson because if for some reason you get held up,they have to go . but if you are with thompson this never happens If you go to the panama canal ,dont go on the train, go on the boat. the train ride is very boring as all you see is trees mostly as you go through the rain forest. Our cabin was an inner one as we were never in it. bed was so comfortable it was hard to get out in a morning. We are now hooked on cruising . Read Less

We have travelled on Thompson cruises many times and love the entertainment the food and service is always excellent and we find them good value. This time I needed my wheelchair for distances and rough seas. I found there were many problems to overcome at the airport due to the help desk being a distance from the airport entrance and the Thompson desk the furthest away. Birmingham airport is inclined and sprawling not good when you have to wheel yourself until you can get rid of the cases.at the desk Thompson representatives were excellent so we're the air hostesses. Please note you have to use airport wheelchairs on arrival make sure you have a room number label and name on your chair it goes straight to the ship. On board the room was very spacious we do not need a special disability room but make sure you can climb in a bath for showers I needed to ask for a bath mat. The food and service was as usual of a high standard in the main restaurant but by the end of the holiday I was annoyed in the outside eating areas as they were so few staff tables were not cleared up to an hour after being finished with and the tables were rarely wiped clean. The staff did not point out the gel machines and many cruisers never used them The entertainment was as usual very varied and of a high standard. The show team produced some spectacular shows and worked very hard often doing further shows after the nightly spectacle On this cruise we had not realised that in 14 days there were 4 days at sea and several short visits making half day cruising. All this was made worse because there was nothing for us to do no films lectures or extra musical things to listen too. There was however 1 short play which we enjoyed Smokers are well catered for having ALL of one side of the ship which happened to be the sunny side of the ship most days causing non smokers less choice for sun beds. To make it worse smoking or vaping rules were not adhered to and vaping was allowed everywhere in the lounges dining room and swimming pools. Being in a wheelchair my husband had to help me down the steps to exit the ship we actually complained to the service manager because no one helped my husband to bring the wheelchair down and once the man at the entrance was cross and shouted at me to move when I had no chair and my walking stick was in the scanner I could not therefore move safely. After this they were better but still one staff member was miserable and unhelpful. I think maybe the staff who usually are full of fun and laughter either did not get on with each other ( there was more of a nationality mix) or were unhappy. We wondered if the ship was going to be removed from the fleet and they were worried or the number of staff employed had been drastically reduced. My final personal opinion is that I will have to seriously consider whether Thompson will be my choice for a cruise in the future if they are cutting everything down to the bone. The airport in Jamaica on the way home was difficult. The staff were rude and sharp my husband had to show all his credit cards and I was left ages in the chair waiting to be scanned. I finally was desperate for the toilet so my husband wheeled me to a handicapped toilet and I was told someone was in it. We waited 15 minutes until I was so bad my husband had to help me in to use an ordinary one where the floor was slippy and full of women. How embarrassing. In the mean time a young fit member of airport staff came out of the disabled toilet and when challenged accused us as having a problem with her because she was black!! There was no one to speak to and complain but we did leave a letter of complaint with the information desk. Surprise surprise no one has contacted us. Good luck to any people out there like me who have to suffer a disability and the humiliation that goes with it but I would like to say there were wonderful people on board the ship that were so kind and helpful to both my husband and myself and certainly the women in the airport is not a true representative of mankind Read Less

This was a cruise anticipated to get our new year off to a great star but New Year's Eve on board was rather flat. There was the opportunity to celebrate two but nothing happened or was scheduled in the intinerary of events on the night to acknowledge Big Ben striking in the UK earlier than Caribbean time ...some cruises seize the opportunity to celebrate both...Midnight arrived on board and with the Cruise director prompting us all to look at the funnel something BIG was anticipated but nothing mareialised other than a few balloons and poppers and a glass of fizzy plonk...this was an opportunity missed by the cruise director and his team to do something spectacular as other ships do. The Broadway Theatre hosts evening shows and the singers and dancers are the best on board...they are very good. Red Syndicate are not the best whilst Two Intense are much better. David Morgan the ships Steel Drummer has had better days and suggestion was that he ended up on the Dream as being the best of what was left. His songs are repetitive and he is a clock watcher... The cruise was not without its share of adverse weather, often arriving at short notice but nothing was in place to entertain passengers unable to take advantage of glorious sunshine and now housed indoors. Ample opportunity existed for a daytime dance/disco in the waters edge...maybe a beach party theme...Carribbean shirts and all that...something to get the party started so to speak...no...entertainment was lacking and the teams leader lacked imagination and creativity on these occasions. Same with sail always..they were flat too. These opinions were shared by many and not expressed in isolation. Those who had been on the Dream before felt the previous Director was better at creating the party atmosphere this cruise lacked. Accommodation was good. Housekeeping was of a high standard, towels changed on demand. Staff very friendly. Food was ok but has been better during a previous cruise on this ship. The Orion restaurant was very good and again staff attentive to detail. The Lido and Sirens restaurants are the buffet ones and selection was ok, nothing spectacular and presentation very basic. Waiter service in the public areas and entertainment venues is extremely slow. The waiters appear to take several orders at once, return to the bar with their orders and then you wait for all drinks to be prepared before they return to your table. This practice is preferred on board in favour of you visiting the bar to get your own drinks. I can appreciate the need to observe safety especially when the ship is rocking and many carrying glasses so this is something Thomsons need remain conscious of and ensure sufficient resources are available to prepare and distribute drinks in a much shorter time. Reception is another area that was often criticised. These staff have been selected for their ability to say No and to defend the many issues presented by the on board internet access and its excessive costs. Using this facility is very expensive and you need to ensure you fully understand its operation or be prepared for an inflated charge should you not log off correctly or its failure be apportioned to yourself. One cannot assume the Caribbean is where the sunshines continuously! This is not the case and it was confirmed during our cruise. Rain is essential to the beautiful scenery around you but downpours do occur so be prepared...some of lengthy durations too..Weather conditions quickly change and sailing time can encounter rough seas as was the case towards the end of our cruise. It deteriorated soon after leaving Havana and followed us back to Montrgo Bay via Cozomel where the sea was so rough excursions returning to the ship via a ferry needed to transfer back to the ship via a side access. The swell was such that the ferry was bobbing up and down excessively and transfer carried huge risks. It also delayed our departure by a couple of hours at least. The first Three stops on our cruise saw us drop into Roatan, Honduras, Belize and then Costa Maya where each port was like a shopping mall and the major stores existed at each. Unfortunately the ships Port shopping guide was given time to host presentations specific to items one could purchase on our travels and promoting the stores that carried Thomson recommendations! Something the port shopping Advisor omitted from his presentation is the fact purchases in Mexican governed countries benefit from a shopping and tourism money back initiative! An initiative that has been in place for some time that sees just short of 9% ....yes 9%... of total monetary spend on jewellery, diamonds and watches returned to your account within 60 days of purchase! ...so my advice is make your purchase in COZOMEL...not Roatan...not Belize...COZOMEL also has other outlets than those Thomsons promote that sell watch brands like Rolex and RADO too in addition to those available in Diamonds International... I am of the view we all want to save money and it's better in our pocket than theirs..my only thought as to why this initiative escapes reference during presentations is that it would compromise sales at ports where this initiative does not exist. Check it out...it's a GOVERNMENT initiative...and not something outlets subsidise. You stand to save a lot of money or lose it depending on place of purchase but ultimately it's your call. What a dissapointment. My husband and I have been on many cruises, with lots of different cruise lines. Expected this cruise to be high up on the list. Mr Thompson you set mediocre standards and fail to attain them. A glorified rust bucket, you even had to pay for the water on fully inclusive package ! The food served in the Orion Restaurant was bland and sometimes cold, the showers were dangerously hot and the toilets which were not plentiful were often blocked. The lifts were extremely slow, the air con in our room didn't work, and embarkation was at a snails pace, a lot of passengers were getting irate as they were hot and thirsty, but no welcoming glass of water available. There was only a handful of positive views on this cruise, the first being the fantastic crew, without these lovely people the ship would sink ! This ship apparently had a refurb last November, but honestly, I think it had a slight lick of paint and lots of silicone. The whole ship is in a bad state of repair, loose decking, loose toilets, shabby carpets and curtains. On the drinks package I could have got a pint glass of spirits at no cost, but yet, had to pay for a bottle of water. Not logical! As soon as you get on the boat they want your money. The one day it rained, the tried to sell flimsy bin liner type ponchos for £3.50! Cheek. Read Less

We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise we all went on the Dream last April and loved the improvements, crew were brilliant and always smiling, we loved the new subbed area and well done to Thomson crew for removing towels on longer than 45 mins, we never had a problem with beds, but we were always up later so by lunch time, loads of free beds! A nice touch thomson recognised us as returning customers and gave us 2 for 1 meal in lovely Asian restaurant. Entertainment was best ever dancing and singing was on a par with west end London! My wife and I did our first cruise. We wanted to see Mayan temples so the Mayan treasures itinery seemed ideal. We did not know what to expect. On the plus side; The cabin was more spacious than we expected and it was very well cleaned and maintained by our cabin steward. The food on board was excellent. I have a few food intolerances so the buffet restaurant (the Lido) was very good - plenty of choice of foods and all labelled if gluten free so choosing was easy. Also had a good variety from day to day and it was well cooked and generally good. the available excursions were also very good in range, and the ones we actually did were very good too. The crew are mainly Phillipino and were friendly, polite and attentive. cant fault them at all. The ship was in good order and was spotless throughout. The drinks available on board were charged at approximately UK prices and were all familiar to us (strongbox, coke, etc....). It was also very nice to have access to PG tips in the buffet restaurant - so a good cup of tea was always available. The logistics of cases and booking in were also very efficient. if we have one criticism it was the entertainment. The day time stuff was very Butlinesque. table tennis, quizzes, bingo etc... The evening entertainment relied exclusively of a troup of singers and dancers. each night had a singing and dancing show of about an hours duration (two performances) but that was it. there was no variety at all (other than different songs). There was a UK comic who did one show - and he was OK but very much of the Northern music hall variety, but apart from that nothing else. It would have been nice to have had some variety as it wore a bit thin towards the end. The entertainment director also got on our wick - he was a bit portly to be performing and had the most irritating catchphrase ("Ciau for now") which we kept hearing - although I gather he has now left the boat. So in summary, a good trip and we would recommend it with the caveat that the entertainment was not as varied as we would have liked. Read Less

We have just returned from 2 fabulous back to back cruises on Thomson Dream (Cuban Fusion and Mexican Medley.) All the ports were interesting and very enjoyable. There was a really friendly atmosphere on the ship, the food was tasty and varied. The staff were always friendly, smiley and helpful. The shows were professional and the team were very versatile. The sea was calm and the weather was perfect. We had a wonderful time and met so many lovely people. Looking forward to our next cruise.   Read Less

We have just returned from a fortnights cruise and although the weather could have been kinder we really enjoyed it. Alright the ship does need a bit of attention and is starting to look shabby but the staff and the service could not be better. The staff in the Delo bar in particular Alex and Nashir were so attentive, polite and always welcoming keeping the drinks flowing and always finding time to talk, lovely people. Fernando in the Orion Restaurant was also amazing, entertaining us with his guitar and singing and also would like to mention Daniel who always took the time to speak even wen extremely busy. The staff on this ship are always happy and polite which to us makes a holiday. The food was good and the rooms clean although looking a bit tired but we had a fabulous time, give me this ship and service anytime. The excursions are overpriced and there is a lot of waiting around but overall a good holiday Read Less

This was my 6th cruise with Thomson and my 2nd( and last) on the Dream. Dreamliner flight and transfers all went smoothly and our cabin although a little tired in places was a good size and surprisingly quiet considering it was next to the open stairs and lifts. Despite some upgrades the ship seemed worn and tired. The new coffee lounge was smart but spoilt by the enthusiastic use of mastic on the windows. This cruise is advertised as a Platinum cruise - after researching this it is based on customer feedback so don't expect any extras that this title may suggest.. There are coffee/tea facilities in the cabin and bottled water on the dining table but that doesn't exactly make it platinum! The ship was busy on the day at sea - they have turned the sports court into a sun lounge with beds and a bar which went some way to ease the sunbed situation but occasionally it was hard to find one. There were the usual quizzes and a few classes but little else - no afternoon play for example. I was very disappointed with the main Dining Room this time. There was a wait to be seated unless you were willing to share ( we were a group of 4), there was a wait for the food( breakfast took 1 hour 20 mins on the first morning!) leaving the poor waiters hovering and when it did come it was never hot. The desserts had obviously been prepared for hours and were beginning to curl up at the edges. Most of the waiters were polite but we had a very grumpy waiter one night : he made faces when writing our choices and purposely ignored us so didn't serve any coffee until we eventually managed to stop him and ask for it. We have never experienced that on a Thomson ship.Not impressed. The buffets had a good selection of food - Sirens had a nice selection of salads at lunchtime and delicious afternoon tea. We had breakfast in the buffet before various excursions and it was hot and plentiful. We had a meal in Mistrals one evening - fantastic service and delicious food; just what we had been missing in the dining room. The entertainment team were good and the evening shows were excellent with good choreography. The Cruise Director sometimes took part but we never saw him out and around the ship. Crew show was also very good and was the only time you felt the whole crew were a 'family'. This is the first year Thomson has visited these ports and the ship had problems getting into them due to the wind which reading other reviews seem to be an ongoing theme. The captain admitted that the ship did not have modern stabilisers like bigger cruise ships and found it difficult getting into port. Our first call was Roatan, Honduras and we could not get into port so went to a smaller one next door, unfortunately a ship had docked earlier so tenders had to be lowered making our arrival late. The next port was Belize and the ship anchored quite a way out - the journey by local tender to shore was 20 mins , if ships tenders were used it would be 40 mins! We were late into Cozumel as the ship took several attempts to dock. This seems to be an ongoing problem for the Dream, maybe Thomson need to find different ports of call or a ship that can cope with it. Judging by other reviews we were lucky and managed to visit all ports eventually. There was a wide range of shore excursions which covered most tastes from active to historical and the guides were good, especially in Belize. However, we did have some mishaps - on the catamaran trip a man fell off the top deck into the water and on the trip into the forest one poor lady passed out right in front of us. On the long trip to visit Chichen Itza the ferry from Cozumel was very rough so many were sick before they got there! On return to Jamaica we stayed on for another week at the Sensatori resort and had a fantastic week. If we had been there first I don't think I would have got on the ship. Would I go with Thomson again? Yes, we have had some great cruises but I wouldn't go on the Dream again- shame. Read Less

Dream on if you want to go to Panama, San Blas, Costa Rica. None of which we did although we paid full price to do. We booked this cruise looking at the beautiful photograph in the catalogue of San Blas, Costa Rica with its rain forest and birds, and because it's called "pride of Panama" we thought that's where we were going but be warned, If you want to see the Panama canal you have to pay £74.00 each extra to go on an excursion. Because the weather was choppy the captain decided not to go to San Blas or Costa Rica, two of the reasons we chose this itinerary. So we spent another day at sea and another day in Colon, which is not safe because when we got off the ship the police told us to get back on the ship because there had been a shooting and a stabbing. I have noticed the ship has not docked at San Blas on previous cruises. Has anyone actually been to San Blas on this cruise. There was a constant smell of sewerage on the stairwells near our cabin and the air conditioning on the boat was too cold. I could go on but the main disappointment was not visiting places we had paid for and expected to visit.   Read Less

arrived in Jamaica, stood in narrow hallway for three and a half hours, no water, 40degree heat. With +- 750 people waiting for coaches to transport us to the ship.. thomsons had forgotten to lay on coaches. this was the reason the rep gave us at the airport, before phoning London to sort out the coaches... they later claimed, on response to our complaint back in London that there was a traffic problem.. it was tops 20 minute journey to ship from airport... they also said there was water provided, outside the terminal!! we were not allowed to leave the terminal.. the ship itself is in a poor state, constant flooding in our bathroom..( towels thread bear). our cabin was in need of major repair.. the waiters in restaurant, and the room porter were very good, but certain bar staff were downright rude and insulting.. the food was not bad, but very repetitive .. the excursion trips were a con, not a Thomson rep to be seen once they got you onto the coaches.. took a trip to Tulum, we spent one and a half hours at the site, then we were driven to a restaurant on the beach, given a Luke warm buffet lunch and had to spend the rest of the day on the beach..we could have arranged our own beach trip at no expense.. every single passenger we spoke were complaining, some of these people had been cruising with thomsons for years, but all said they were never cruising with them again.. the entertainment, well it was the theatre or quizzes, the theatre troupe tried there best, but most times you felt you were on a floating butlins.. I feel that this company is not set out for cruising!! they give cruising a very bad name.. disembarkation was a shambles.. never will we be using this company for any of our future holiday plans, be it on land, and especially not at sea.. The holiday did not start well when we arrived at a suffocatingly hot airport and there were no buses available to transfer passengers to the ship. This resulted in a long, standing, wait in a huge queue in temperatures that are alien to the average Brit dressed for a journey from a cold climate. No drinks were offered. There were no reps there to tell us what was going on, or how long the buses might be. When we were eventually transferred to the ship on a boneshaker of a bus, embarkation was less than smooth. The reps were asking us to 'smile' for the camera that recorded your image for verication of your ship's card.... after a two hour wait in a sweatbox!! Not exactly how you want to be seen for the duration of your holiday! Our cabin was a couple of doors from the back of the ship. Now I know someone has to have these cabins, but they are extremely noisy and vibrate vigorously. On docking and casting off, you are lucky to hang on to your fillings! In our opinion, the food in the self service restaurants was not up to standard. It was constantly cold, repetitive and of poor quality. Definitely not a good dining experience. The Orion restaurant was marginally better. Drinks in the bars were expensive and some were positively undrinkable. Unless it came out of a can it should be avoided. The swimming pools were not inviting. The one on Deck 11 reminded me of a sheep dip. Our cabin steward was as usual, good. We also contracted the 'cruise cough'. The reps and reception staff on board were evidently receiving a lot of complaints, and some were short tempered and unprofessional when dealing with passengers, even when they weren't complaining. All in all, a not to be repeated experience. Certainly not on a Thomson ship. Its next port of call should be the breakers yard!   Read Less
