For a first ever cruise I really have nothing to compare it to accept to say I really enjoyed myself. It started off kinda rocky in that It started raining and I came at a time when the embarkation had grown busy. I lived close enough to drive in and park across for the terminal. I checked one large suitcase and carried on a small, a backpack, and a raincoat. Although I had read not to go to the windjammer café, I went away and it was packed and I felt weighed down. Won't do that again. The rain did clear up for the sail away and enjoyed that. The rest of the cruise was great. Seen some good shows, ate some good food, and walked around enjoying the ship. The cabins are sized small but that's just cruising. Enjoy relaxing out on the balcony. The room was clean and kept clean well by our attendant, though we probably overpacked and filled the room with stuff. Another lesson learned. Dining was good. I don't have an exotic pallet so the "standard fare" food was fine with me. In the main dining room and the windjammer buffet, the food was hot, fresh and tasty. After 7 days aboard, disembarkation replace embarkation as the worse day of the trip and looked for to getting on the next cruise as soon as I left. Read Less

We booked two staterooms. Picked the cruise based on kids spring break schedule and timing. Tried several times to have the kids room ready with the bunk beds down. it took most of the day and several requests to unlock the adjoining rooms and set up the bunk beds. Kids were tired and wanted to actually take a nap. Took forever to get rooms cleaned. Food on Windjammer buffet was poor, low end, cold, no taste. Nothing like we expected from our last cruise on Regal Princess a few months ago. There was one show like Sat. Night Fever. which was poor audio, trashy, and not family friendly. We walked out of the show. Ice skating on a ship sounded so fun but the rink was dangerous with the worst ice ever experienced. Booked numerous shore trips. The one in Grand Cayman was a disaster with waiting around for 4 hrs to finally find out it was all messed up and most people wasted the day and cancelled. The attitude was tuff bleep at the customer desk. It wasnt about losing the money but the entire day in Cayman screwed up and you cant get that back. They should have done a comp other tour or dining or drinks or something to make us feel better. Read Less

I went on this cruise with my mother and a friend of hers. We had a deluxe balcony cabin, Cabin 7304. This room had twin beds and a bunk bed pulled down from the ceiling. As a 43 year old, the bunk bed was hard to get in and out of. The ladder is not user friendly and the bed is pretty uncomfortable. Would be okay for kids. This is a very large ship. Most of the crew were extremely nice and helpful. Embarktion and disembarktion were easy. We parked in a lot right across from the port. We went to Belize, Honduras, and Cozumel. Loved Belize - we went tubing and it was a great trip. Honduras was very poor. Our beach was very dirty and so was the water. Had trash from cruise ships floating in it - toilet paper, plastic, even menus. Yuck! Our steward was very nice but compared to the Carnival cruise I went on, this ship was not as fun or as clean. The food was okay, again, not as good as Carnival. We did enjoy the ice shows and the night entertainment. Those were the highlights of the cruise. This would be a great ship for kids that enjoy water activities. The slide and surfing instruction would be ideal. I had a massage one day and it was okay. I've had better, I've had worse. I really enjoyed the adult only pool and hot tub option. Loved the views from the overhang hot tub. Read Less

I will be keeping this review short and straight to the point: VOOM internet: Do not get it and save your money!! I was unable to log in for the majority of the cruise, and the connection speed was awful. I tried to check bandwidth with Speedtest.net, and could not even load the test itself as it was that slow. I even got the surf AND stream package, and could not even load webpages, let alone stream anything. They write on their daily itineraries that there may be "connection issues" due to direction of travel/sail conditions/etc "Sorry for any inconvenience". Pretty much an excuse for the customer getting ripped off. Drink Packages: We bought the Deluxe Beverage Package. Do not get it. It's not worth it. The basic Soda package is probably better if you drink soda. The Windjammer cafe has tea, coffee, juice, and tap water for free. If you want bottled water, you are limited to 1 bottle per trip, so if you want multiple bottles you will have to make multiple trips to a bar/cafe. Non-alcoholic beverages (Pina colada, strawberry dacqueries, etc) only taste ok. Specialty coffee drinks are not bad, but only available in certain areas (formal dining room, and Cafe Promenade). Evian water is NOT included in this package, and is extra. The price is absurd for what you get in the package. Cafe Promenade: Customer service is horrible. Workers seem overworked and pissed off. They will make rude comments about customers behind their backs and not even out of earshot. I had an exceptionally bad experience with 2 Filipino workers (who always worked together on the same shift). Rude and talked about customers as soon as they would walk away. Fitness Center: Clean and Nice. Very well equipped compared to other cruise lines. They have free weights (dumbbells) up to 75 lbs. A Smith Machine, Cable Multi-functional Machine, and a bunch of Life Fitness weight machines. 1 aerobic/class room. Towels are provided for your workout. Good music playing. Formal Dining: Food was all excellent, and the customer service here was great. Feel free to ask for as many entrees/starters/desserts as you want. They do not serve cold specialty coffees at the formal dining. Only hot coffee drinks. Lobster formal night was awesome. No shows like Carnival Cruise Lines, just food service. Disembarkation: You will be assigned a number as your disembarkation group number. This number will be printed clearly on your luggage tags the last night of your cruise, and placed in your stateroom. You will use that number to determine the time when you disembark. Just wanted to mention that because I figured it out, but others may not. Read Less

We chose the cruise to get away for a week. Due to the storm, our itinerary was changed, which for us wasn't an issue. Except both Cozumel and Nassau was one shop after another, and very aggressive in Cozumel. If given a choice, I wouldn't sail again in the summer. Much too hot and humid, and too many children left running around, unattended, for our tastes. Speaking of taste, we ate in the specialty restaurants almost every evening because the dining (both lunch and dinner) was below what we are used to on a ship. (we had the same issue on our last RCCL trip a few months ago) The Windjammer was worse. Our cabin was nice, as well as the friendly staff. We have another RCCL cruise in Alaska in a few weeks, so I'm in hopes that it will be much better. If not, there's always Celebrity. As far as the ship, I actually liked it. It was easy to get around, even for someone like me who takes a week to learn where everything is located. I would sail her again. Just under different circumstances. Read Less

Cruise was great. Roatan Honduras was fair as was Costa Maya, Cozumel everyone like Especially the Dolphin Encounter at the National Park. Cruise is now uncharging for Lobster and Steak in main dining room--we all were not happy about this and just might lose clients who are die hard RCI cruisers. RCI get your act together. I did not have a great massage nor facial but my clients did (Jenny excellent) with their time spent at the Spa. The staterooms were nice but did not like the foam over the actual beds below the top sheet--all were stained and newer mattresses are needed like yesterday. Our cabin stewards were great. Waiter Dairo and Waiter Assistant Elez and Razeben (SP) Liquor steward truly PHENOMENAL!! Waiters we had in Chops and Giovani were excellent as well--names have left me. Wilma manager of Spa excellent. Unlimited Water package or beverage package--you are only allowed 1-2 bottles of water at a time--this is to great when you want to take water during excursions. I have been on at least 70 RCL cruises and am Diamond plus with about 530 points. I am writing to tell frequent cruisers about how disappointed I was with my back to back sailing on the Liberty of the Seas from 5/15/16/-5/29/16. First, RCL has changed its policy on who can go into the conceirge/suite lounge. In early Feb. Diamond Plus, Pinnacle, & Suites were allowed in the lounge. Now, only Suites & Pinnacles are allowed in that lounge. RCL has downgraded Diamond Plus out of that lounge & allows them to go only in the Diamond lounge. This has created several problems. First. Diamond plus guests can no longer sit & talk with Pinnacle & Suite friends that they had made on previous Liberty cruises. This is aggrivating & disappointing. Second. because the Diamond Plus guests have been sent back to the Diamond lounge, the Diamond lounge is so overcrowded that you can't get a seat between 4:30pm-6:00pm,& there is a line to get drinks of at least 20 people stretching from the bar to the lounge door. To make matters even worse, some Pinnacle guests are coming to the Diamond lounge in order to sit & talk with their Diamond Plus friends, making the lounge even more overcrowded.I just can't believe that RCL would show such little respect for its Diamond & Diamond Plus loyal cruisers. Other problems on this ship were that the coupons for some free internet & a free photo were not working & you would have to go to the front desk & stand in line to get the charges reversed. The elevators kept breaking down & I had to call twice to get my safe & tv repaired.I would avoid this ship if I were you! Read Less

I have been on seven RC cruises over the last 20 years and I must say that quality has gone down over the years, but I think that is industry wide unless you sail on smaller more intimate cruise lines. All in all it was a fun cruise. The food was good but not exceptional. The room was nice and we didn't have any real issues except that the room steward was almost non-existent and I had to ask the steward from the rooms down the hall for more coffee and more room service breakfast tags. We ate in the main dining room for dinner, my time dining, and the waiter was great. He and the assistant waiter were very attentive. After the first night, we didn't have to wait for bar drinks, they simply arrived without asking. The bar staff in Boleros was great and very attentive, I think because we tip additionally each drink, but hey I like great service. We didn't dine in any specialty restaurants this time, but we did eat off menu a couple of times. The steak and lobster are both worth the extra money. We did the red stripe beach in Jamaica, which was good for the money, not too crowed and laid back. We stayed onboard in Grand Cayman as my husband wasn't feeling well. In Cozumel we went on the Fury catamaran sail & snorkel with beach break and it was fun. The snorkeling was the best and guys on the boat were great. Next cruise is on the Allure in 2017. Read Less

After cruises on a couple of other cruise lines, I came back (with my grown daughter) for a Royal Caribbean cruise after 6 years. I must say that I was extremely disappointed with all of the (presumed) cost cutting measure I saw on the Liberty of the Seas. The Embarkation process was fine, waiting to board was done in a large temporary area with little difference between loyalty levels. Once aboard the ship, we headed to the Windjammer for the usual lunch buffet. Odd - no fancy carved fruit or ice sculptures in the entrance. Once in the buffet, it was the usual madhouse trying to get a seat. Upon getting my food, I noticed a certain lack of quality in my meal. Nothing tasted particularly good, undercooked pasta, etc. Oh well, I knew it would be better in the Main Dining Room for dinner. Our promenade cabin was quite acceptable, a little small but some good organization made up for it. As we both were familiar with this cabin type, it was not a letdown. Our cabin attendant Nicole was a joy though out the whole cruise. We had elected for the My Time Dining, but asked to be seated with others. This was done on this first meal, but seemed to be a problem through the rest of the cruise. They preferred to seat us alone for most of the other meal. Saying that the food was a disappointment does not convey how we felt. The descriptions of the food SOUNDED good, but then when they were served - well, it was just not good. And we are generally not food snobs. The food was sometimes cold or just warm. The steak had gristle. The lobster bisque was tomato soup with tiny bits of lobster. The entree (Shrimp Ravioli) that followed had what appeared to be the same tomato soup as a sauce poured over it. many items just had no flavor. There were a few items, such as the appetizer scallops and most of the desserts that still made the grade. But most were bland, and just not good. We found ourselves going to the promenade cafe and the pizza place for snacks, to get filled up. Breakfast was OK in the dining room, actually better with Room Service! Sadly, we passed up two nights in the Main Dining Room for Johnny Rockets, (for an extra fee) where we had really good burgers, frys, and shakes! We commented it was easily the best food on the cruise - very sad. It could be that the other two specialty dining spots were good as well - but we were unwilling to spend that much extra just to get acceptable food. The entertainment was great, good comedians, good shows. We did find that many of the things to do on this ship cost extra money. Bingo was VERY expensive, particularly for the small pots. We passed on a lot of other things - at least the trivia was still free! Ports were fine - had a problem with Stingray City in Georgetown, the tour operator decided to take us out when the seas and winds were a little too high, particularly in the very small boat we were in. I have given Royal Caribbean some feedback on that excursion. This should have been cancelled rather than force guests to endure some pretty big waves on the sandbar with the Stingrays. It was apparent (I guess since it had been a few years since I had been on a Royal Cruise) that cost cutting has been rampant since I had cruised with them. Nowhere was this more apparent than the food, because this is always a big part of cruising. In speaking with other passengers, I found that many (who had cruised quite a bit) felt the same way and were missing the old Royal Caribbean with the wonderful food, chocolate buffets, etc. The ship was nice but maybe lacking some of the wow factors of the past. I will probably cancel a reservation for September 2016 and maybe opt to go with another cruise line. Read Less
