We thought we were going on a luxury cruise holiday. The ship needed an update. We were promised first setting of evening dinning for health reasons but we did not get this. When spoken to Maître-de & Purser this was denied and not available to us. Some of the service staff looked and acted as though they didn't wish to be there. Disembarkation in Sydney treatment by Customs very unpleasant experience if you triggered the metal detectors. we were very disappointed with the whole cruise. Bar staff were very good chatty and always had a smile Room was serviced daily but when looking for something I dropped found a cigarette butt under the bed and a bottle top behind the sofa. No top sheet on bed and bed linen was not changed at all over the entire 10 nights. Mini bar was never refilled from day 1 Any of the entertainment was to loud and hard to hear correctly. Staff could not always be understood with broad accents. Read Less

Since we first started cruising, about 4 years ago, we always wanted to try Cunard and see what the real difference was at this level of cruising. This was our 15th cruise so we have a few ships to compare it to. First impressions were amazing. Gorgeous decor, lovely stateroom, beautiful rooms to relax in, we were very impressed. On sailing might, we went to the Verndah restaurant which was first class, even the following night in the Britannia dining room, the food and service were top notch as was the first couple of shows that we went to in the main theatre. At this point of the cruise this was 'best cruise ever' material. Then we came to Sydney and 1700 people disembarked, with 1700 new people embarking and for what we could see a lot of first time cruisers, getting the chance to experience Cunard at a reasonably lower cost, given that this was only a 5 day cruise, to Tasmania and back. The whole vibe of the ship changed, people were older loud, rude and obnoxious, the English Pub was always full, so Trivia was standing room only, the buffet was full and almost impossible to get a seat there for breakfast. There were many old people with scooters and walking frames. I have never seen people with walking frames on a disco floor, but I guess there is a first time for everything and good on them for giving it a go! We really were ready to disembark after 9 days, a first for us. All in all QE is a beautiful ship with first class food and service but maybe it's that we are just not old enough. Read Less

Spent great vacation with my husband. We were really surprised with a very cleab comfortable cabin with a balcony. It was really nice to spend mornings with coffee breathing the fresh air. Lots of towels and toiletries in the bathroom. Nice food at Grill restourant for me but not for my husband. Comfortable table, polite staff. But i think they could have better menu. I can't say that emtertainment was great but i had never been interested in it. I prefere to read and to look at he water. Service was quite good. I always freez so I asked for an extra blanket and in 15 min girl brought it to me. Read Less

We sailed from Auckland to Adelaide on this beautiful, elegant ship and were wowed from beginning to end. We were upgraded to a balcony cabin 8103 and thought we were just so lucky. It was roomy, had a balcony which was a bit covered by a lifeboat, but at least we could open the door and sit outside in the sun and get fresh air. The beds were so comfortable, the bathroom considerably more than adequate and the whole stateroom experience was so much better than we expected. Couldn't fault any services, entertainment, food, facilities or anything about the whole experience. Camilla, our stewardess was superb and just so helpful. A huge tick to her. We loved the English afternoon tea and made a point of attending each day. The food was out of this world - couldn't be bettered. All in all it was a marvellous 8 days. Read Less

Wow, what an amazing lifetime experience for us. Even before we boarded the ship we were notified that we were to be upgraded to a balcony stateroom and this was the icing on the cake. From the time we embarked at Auckland everything was perfect and so professional. We were very quick to board and no waiting around, everything went so smoothly. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times and nothing too much trouble for them. Our room was spotless and well appointed and thanks must go to Henrick our very fine room service man who was always there to help. Although we had a table reserved at the Britannia Restaurant where the food was great, we always seemed to end up at the Kings Court a buffet syle restaurant where the selection was superb. A special treat on most days at 3.30 p.m. were the devonshire teas where most people seemed to head. The library was very well equipped with lovely books as well. All in all a great memorable trip for us - could not fault it in any way. Maybe in the future sometime we may be fortunate to have a trip on this magnificent ship again. Read Less

We have cruised with several different lines. In fact this was our 7th cruise, but the first with Cunard. And I'm sorry but it will be our last. You cannot fault the food and the waiting service. The ship was clean and tidy. But there was just nothing to do! If you did not play whist, bridge, advanced bridge or cribbage - if you did not ballroom dance - if you did not want to attend lectures on plate tectonics - then there is very little else to do. Oh, there were the large number of quiz games each day. There was bingo. There was Wii if you wanted to organise that yourself, but really not much else. Onboard there were eight dancers and four singers. Over twenty days they did three 45 minute shows (love to have their job). There were two ventriloquists who did impressions. One was very good - the other did impressions of himself doing bad impressions of others. One comedian who was excellent and a couple of mediocre singers. All up nine shows over twenty nights. One had to wear a jacket every night regardless of the temperature. And it was uncomfortably hot in the tropics. The air conditioning was pretty much non existent. And my favourite thing. Two folks asked to leave the dance floor because the dancing they were doing was just not suitably ballroom. I could go on about finding that my cabin had been left open by the steward, or that the gang plank fell off the ship at San Francisco leaving many of us soaked from the heavy rain and without out information or support for over two hours stranded in a cold wharf building, or the unhelpful purser who dismissed our concerns at not being able to contact our bank as " our problem" - I could but I think I'd rather just vote with my money and spend it elsewhere for our next adventure. I would not recommend this as a good way to spend your hard earned money. Read Less
