Booked this cruise for the ports which were fabulous. Overall experience for our first time on Princess was disappointing. I expected better service, better food, vacuumed stateroom every day which we didn't get. There were 8 of us traveling and we all picked the Anytime Dining option which was anything but "anytime" unless you wanted to wait an hour to be seated. They wouldn't accept a reservation for 8 between 6 and 7 no matter what we tried, said we either had to eat before 5:30 or after 7:45. That's not my idea of Anytime Dining. We had a party of 16 on a Royal Caribbean cruise two years ago and they managed to have a table for us every night at 7. It shouldn't be that hard to eat dinner. We ended up eating in the buffet every night except 3 because we all thought the food at the buffet was better than the dining room and we could eat when we wanted. Speaking of the food....don't buy the "gelato" or think you're going to get ice cream, soft or otherwise. It's all the SAME crap, a frozen ice milky thing. One dessert in the dining room was advertised as "vanilla bean ice cream" which was laughable. If there was any cream it was not discernible and this stuff hadn't been within a mile of a vanilla bean. I don't like being duped and that's what it felt like. Princess also advertised a bunch of apps like Ocean Ready, Ocean Concierge, Ocean Now which rarely worked as advertised. The whole on-line experience was HORRID. If you bought the internet, things worked better which again is like being duped. The apps should work as advertised whether you PAY or not! Would not recommend Princess and I've been on Norwegian, Royal, Celebrity and Holland America. Would take any of those over Princess. Read Less

We sailed on the Regal Princess for the Baltic Cruise. We love the Regal. Even though the ship has a lot of passengers, it never felt crowded. We had a mini suite on the Lido deck, as we like the little rocking at night, but atlas the seas were so smooth, there was no rocking. The Regal uses the Medallion. Embarkation took under 5 minutes and your cabin door opens as you move towards it. We didn’t have any issues with the medallion and can’t wait till all the ships use this technology. We had early dining which worked at fine for us. The food was fine, and they even made me some dishes to eat, when the menu didn’t have anything on it I could eat. Our servers were so fantastic it was such a pleasure to go to dinner. We did tours from Princess, except in Tallinn where we did the town on our own. We did Nynäshamn and the Rui stones. In Helsinki we went to the Rock church which is stunning. Beautiful town to walk around in. We were in St. Petersburg for 2 days. We found the city sad and depressing. It was cold and we were warned about the pickpockets who were all over. The architecture is beautiful and the Hermitage is definitely worth a visit. I just wish we could have spent more time there. Tallinn is a medieval town that was quaint and stunning. We so enjoyed walking around, talking to the locals, and had lunch at the Cinnamon Restaurant which was very good. There is a HOHO bus which we used to get all over Tallinn. Oslo, Norway is stunning. The Viking museum was very crowded and due to the short time we were in Oslo, we only got to see 1 ship. We went to Rostock in Germany which was very enjoyable. So glad we did this cruise. Read Less

We did the Mediterranean on this ship a few years ago and we enjoyed returning to this beautiful ship. The food on Princess in my opinion is a cut above many other lines but I did notice a slight change in quality on the many beef dishes. Still very good though. The medallion program is very convenient, however, there seems to still be some bugs to be worked out on the Ocean compass and now apps. Harder than necessary to connect and sign in. When working though they are a nice add. Entertainment was above average for the most part. The ports of call on this cruise were Warnemunde Germany, Oslo Norway, Copenhagen Denmark, Stockholm Sweden, Helsinki Finland, St Petersburg Russia, (2 days), and Tallinn Estonia. Beware of the pick pocket problem in all of these ports. The tour guides repeatedly warn of them and there are signs in tourist attractions also warning. We had a elderly lady have her purse with passports and cash stolen at a cafe in Stockholm. There are only 3 sea days on the itinerary so by the end you will have to catch up on some sleep. Read Less
