We are experienced cruisers. We got together on a cruise ship. We even got married on a cruise ship. We chose this cruise because NCL always seems to have specials and we wanted to give them a try. The Sun seemed comparable to Carnival Pride. Moreover, the ship was leaving around the time of our first year anniversary. I really wanted to like this ship and this line. However, save your money, folks. This is the worst cruise ship we have ever been on and for the first time ever....we were bored. Let's start with the first day. People were so sloppy drunk, I thought someone was going to fall overboard. And the worst part? The drinks and most bartenders were terrible. The bartenders couldn't even remember drink orders. One walked away...out of the bar...after we ordered. The food in the main dining room and the breakfast was not good at all and it sits out way too long. Crunchy pancakes, really crunchy waffles, wilted bacon, etc. The salad dressings all tasted like mustard. The hollandaise sauce tasted like mustard. The pizza was burnt at the bottom. Stick with the food at the pub. We saw our housekeeper once. He never really introduced himself. In fact, the customer service severely lacks on this ship. It is almost like the staff doesn't care. Don't go to Guest Services if you have a question. They will not know the answer or will give you the wrong answer. Our tickets for our excursions were delivered AFTER the excursion. We had to go to the excursion desk to get them. Also, they changed our itinerary due to Hurricane Dorian which I completely understand. However, it doesn't appear that they are refunding our port fees for Grand Bahamas or Great Stirrup Cay. When you ask Guest Services they don't know anything which basically means no. The casino? We are big casino players. NCL won't be getting our money. Their minimums are too high. Their slots don't even let you connect with a game. It was awful. The specialty restaurants had great food. La Cucina had just splendid Italian that really hit the spot. The steakhouse is a must try. The drawback to these specialty restaurants? The service was poor. We had to repeatedly ask for drinks before we got them. We had to wait for 20 min for our cards to be returned and almost missed a show we wanted to see. There was a plus. The steakhouse did find out it was our anniversary and did a nice small cake. It was a really nice touch. We will be reluctant to try NCL, but if we do it will not be the Sun. Read Less

We wanted a cruise experience and the Bahamas. We sadly were disappointed with Hurricane Dorian. We had travel insurance but our travel agent suggested we go cause NCL made no changes to the itinerary yet the night before. We decided to go and not cancel cause we expected at worst we would reroute to 3 other ports. One day was not enough notice to cancel everything we had set up to go even with Hurricane issues we expected we still have fun. Well 1 day in Mexico in Cozumel and a half day was nowhere near what we had in mind nor worth the cost we payed for Bahamas. Esp since My husband had been once with his parents as a teen. . The food was awful no selection for a picky eater. The specialty restaurants were lacking majorly. The buffets were edible if drunk. Same stuff daily almost, sadly not much choice. Not usually a drinker but between all the disappointments. Thankfully it was inclusive drinks....... The pool being closed 50% of time, hot tub packed and the streaming package I paid for not working after day one. I lost business not being able to use my phone and check in on work i lost a few big investors, the 10$ line was a joke. The excursion booking by phone app accidental, we couldn't get refunded. Guest services were no help anytime we went there. They didn't cancel our trip or give any info prior to boarding that we go to Cozumel... My husband had been there and I had no wish to go there, but we had boarded the boat and didn't get any info to were we reroute until another cruiser told us on the ship not even our itinerary told us till the next day. Very disappointed to say the least the have no offered any discount on a trip to the Bahamas or a partial refund! I know that Mexico is way cheaper to visit then the Bahamas and we didn't port 3 different places Nor did i even get to see the beach once. We did one excursion dolphin encounter, it was the only thing decent and we didn't receive our photos by email as we should've. They had switched our group with another's they couldn't find our photos, when tried to look and purchase them. They finally found them under a different groups number! We bought them and it was a week later I had to contact them to send them again. Overall we had a trip we will never forget and we hope to make it to the Bahamas when the poor island rebuilds. Not sure I will be going NCL We almost booked Disney even though, we don't have kids. They had 11 pools and 3 adult areas and pools. We may have at least got some swimming pool time and hot tub time while stuck on the boat for 6 days when supposed be 4 days. The nightmare getting home was another story very disappointed about the lack of updating and knowledge they never provided us during the chaos. The sun would've been fine had we ported 3 days where we planned. we could've dealt with the other issues, we had in general but honestly for our first cruise nothing went right! Room tenant was awesome remembered our names was very diligent and professional. The gift shop was pathetic and the Spa was overpriced for the deep tissue couples massage we received. I wasn't even sore afterwards as should be. Not impressed at all. We are smokers it was windy and raining off and on they only moved smoking down a level one time to keep the wind and rain less awful. We had a balcony and this was honestly the best part of the boat. However we were under the pool area, it was very loud as they picked the chairs up and sprayed the upper deck barley got any sleep! Even though I contacted NCL cust. svc. a least twice before boarding the ship and even I minutes before checking-in to confirm if there will be any changes on the itinerary, to have the opportunity to cancel the trip, but right after checked-in, we were warned abut complete change of itinerary for a place not even similar to the original destination. (Cozumel instead of Bahamas Islands) During the whole trip (most at sea) the crew never agreed on notifications and contradicted themselves all the times. The level of missinformation handle by NCL personnel on board was incredible and at no given time we felt that the situation was under control due to the continuous changes of notice. Also the entertainment after being forced to spend extra time at sea was dull with very few options, even the case of being notified of "continental breakfast being available from 5:30 am" (posted in a flyer) but after ariving before 6am, all buffete areas were closed even the waitreses were ashamed of it that they did the extra effort to provide a meal from Room svc. Finally, due to the continuous misinformation, we almost missed our flight because we were not able to leave the ship at earlier time. I do understand the seriousness of changes of itinerary due to a hurricane but I don't believe this is the first time happens to NCL in order to show so much improvisation. Nothig compares a trip to a caribean Isand like The Bahamas in replacement to Cozumel, MX. Bottom line, it was a very dissapointed and stressful cruise Read Less
