Summary - if your only language is English, it is best to avoid, it is heavily weighted towards Italian, including language, entertainment, food, majority of guests. You Que for almost everything, a lot of items were extra cost and it is not a budget cruise. Quick tips – Avoid Costa if you can only speak English. Carefully select your drinks package to suit, select your evening meal timings to suit (early is 6.45 seated, late is 9.30). Service charge is automatically 10 Euros per person, per night. If you port at Dubrovnik it is KN not Euro in most shops. Do not let your internet package run out, as you can not top it up then, it has to be re-purchased (up to 100 Euros per device) Non of the staff were helpful when it came to being charged or overcharged with anything. Full Review - We booked this cruise as a bit of a last minute choice, we had the itinerary in mind and only had 2 options, Costa or Norwegian Star, I should have read reviews but instead went off photographs, which made the cabins look dated on the Norwegian, so went with Costa. The ship itself is nice, our cabin was ok, although I am not used to cruises, so it felt a bit caravan like, I am unsure if this is across all cruise ships. We upgraded to an unrestricted balcony view room, as we liked the idea of seeing where we were going on a first cruise, this was worth it, as it was great to see it leave and arrive at Ports, or gave us something to look at. Food - Evening set meal times in main restaurant are not ideal, 1st seating is a 6.45 which for some days is too early and 9.30 which by the time you eat, is late. You do not get to switch between meal times, so decide and request before you go. If your going as a couple, have to sit with strangers at this meal, if like me then that is not for you, the choices are buffet or pay for one of the other restaurants. Buffet was very repetitive, you had to que much of the time, but there was a large selection and nice food, it is all self served, including drinks, so there is no service as such. There are set meal times, anything outside of this is charged like mini bar, room service, any other restaurants, including the burger and pizza, which are served from the buffet area and in the same seating area which is a bit of a cop out. Drinks - You can choose a drinks package, be careful which one, as its very labelled on what you can or can’t have, anything above your drinks package is charged. Ours for example was the brandino, which included branded drinks but not bottled water or cocktails/champagne, which apart from the water did not bother us, but as they ask you to not fill water bottles from the vending machines, you have to keep refilling small glasses or pay for the bottles (3 euro). Vending machines only had juice at breakfast time, all other set meals were water, or tea/coffee, alternative drinks are all a visit to the bar for a drink, in which case you have to que up, most of the time. Service - Majority of the staff were friendly, there were a few that because of the language barrier, just didnt want to know. There is no drinks service by the pool, so it’s all ques at the bars. There is no pool side service, although at the main bars inside there is table service. You are automatically charged 10 euros per person per night for a service charge too. Entertainment - Being a cruise ship, there is a fair few bits to do and a good schedule, however it is largely Italian based, including evening, with a large language barrier. Pools - Larger indoor pool, with a screen and more entertainment, does have a sliding roof but doens't seem to get a lot of sun, outside pool is small and full of children, not many sun loungers although this is one of the main areas for bathing, also saw staff taking away towels when people had only just gone in for dinner or drinks, I can understand if they are trying to reserve for hours but this caused arguments. Destinations - This was the best part, I felt you got a good amount of time at most locations, although some are early and some are leave just after mid day, I got to see some lovely locations in a short space of time, whilst resting between locations, this is what it was all about for us. Getting on and off the boat was very organised too. Although they had to change our Mykinos stop to Athens due to bad weather. Read Less

No matter what nationality you are, when you travel with Costa Cruise you will become Italian and live in an atmosphere full of love and human warmth. Italians are different from everyone, they are unique in the way they live their lives with others. The secret is in human contact, in the way they make you feel comfortable and important at same time , they know that everyone has a weakness for good food, pizza, pasta. wine, sweets and the beautiful Italian and Neapolitan melodic songs, I have had experiences with other Cruise Companies as: Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean but with Costa I reserve indelible memories, I do not exaggerate but the cleanliness that I have always found on Costa Cruise ships I have not found them from any others Cruises Ship For this and more if you decide to take a cruise I recommend Costa Cruise My next cruise will be with Costa Cruise again Read Less

Cruising for me is a wonderful experience no matter what. I have traveled by cruise ship 30+ Times. This shop was by far the worst in terms of food quality and options. I would gladly pay more for better quality food. The drink package is deceptive. We upgraded 2 times and still had to pay for a bottle of water to take in shore. Their menu in the dining room was not what I expected. Very limited and mostly lie cost meals prepared poorly. When I complained about this I was given a complimentary dinner at one of the specialty restaurants. It was the worst lobster I have ever had! How in the world do you mess up a lobster?? Never got ice with my drunks even though I asked multiple times. I will never cruise with costa again. The excuse that they cater to a European crowd as unacceptable. I have had some amazing food at restaurants in the untied states. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it suited the dates we wanted to be away. The Good: The ship and cabin were nice and clean. The Staff in general work so hard!! They have so much energy!! We really appreciate their enthusiasm! We enjoyed the shows and had great time at the Mirabilis bar. New Year's Eve was a blast! The Bad: Food was very plain, every day at the lunch buffet, they offered the same thing, over and over. The meat, chicken, and pork were dry and lacked of flavor. In the restaurant, the menu contained choices that really didn't jump on your eye. Nothing interesting or tasty. We didn't get the chance to pick our time for dinner when booking the cruise. We requested it to be changed and never heard back. We didn't book it directly, but we registered on their website to pick some excursions. We never received any formal communication on the time of embarking and/or what to expect. We would have appreciated some details before hand. Two of our excursions were canceled due to the wind at a very last minute, and the "excursion desk" was closed for business. We couldn't find any alternatives. The data plan was a bust... again not entirely clear what you were getting. The drink plan was decent. But sparkling water nor water of any kind was included. As other reviewer said, you get what you pay for. The crew and social staff were wonderful, but because of the food and lack of communication we unfortunately won't go with Costa again. Read Less

I took a Costa cruise 35 years ago, before Carnival got in the picture, and had a wonderful time with a friend for 3 nights! As I was celebrating my 60th birthday this year, I wanted to do another cruise. After reading some of the reviews on Costa, I was worried, but trusted my gut and with with them. We got a suite for my birthday. If you like to drink, it's definitely worth it! It also gives you some extra perks that you can read about. The 2 gentlemen that were assigned to our room, were there for our every need! Thank you Ganesh and Dharma! I had read some reviews that said "all they serve you was pasta!" I have to say, even though we could go to the Club Restaurant with our package, we chose the buffet a lot, just for quickness, and found it hard to even find some pasta! lol There was plenty of food and variety! So I don't know what everyone is talking about! I saw some signs saying, hamburger for $5.00 Euros, but didn't see the need to buy one as there were patties and hot dogs on the buffet and pizza! Whoever is going on this cruise and said they didn't get enough good food, probably needs to go on a American cruise ship where there seems to have food and buffets 24 hours a day! lol Getting on and off the boat, was very easy. Always seems hectic the first day, so just chill! Did 3 excursions while there and all done very well and worth the money! Our favorites were the Abberebello(?) tour in Bari, Italy and the Tuk Tuk in Dubrovnik, Well done by tour guides and organizers! there were plenty of activities on board, if you wanted to participate. Games, dance lessons, trivia. Plus they had nice bands during happy hour and the evenings that you could enjoy a drink and a dance. All the staff was polite and helpful when we needed. I just can't say enough! We went to stage show, just one late night and heard a wonderful Tenor sing, fantastic! didn't use any of the fitness rooms, but saw them and took a tour of the spa. All there if you need it! All in all, well done! If you go with a good and positive attitude and just be patient sometimes, you will enjoy it!! I would definitely go again!! Read Less

We originally choose this cruise because it was a 10 night cruise, was affordable $949 PP premium balcony and it went the route we did 15 cruises ago (2005) and we wanted to see the changes, if any in the various ports. The reviews we had read described the ship as 41/2 stars with many premium features. We agree with this assessment it is a very nice ship! That being said, there is very few nice things that can be said. Our waiter was very nice as was our cabin attendant the remainder of the crew suffered from "language block". This is a condition wherein they either do not understand English or simply use the ruse of lack of understanding to either ignore you or direct you to another subject or choice. Many questions we asked remain unanswered to this point in time, which is after the cruise has ended. While the ship sails out of an American port (Port Everglades) the ship is Italian and that is the dominant language spoken thus the overwhelming majority of passengers are European and that being Italian also. We (Americans) found the food to be bland, tasteless, and offering few variations. Personally, I thought the breakfast sausage was the worst I had ever encountered, the bacon was usually under cooked as were the scrambled eggs! And the general offering was unlike anything we had ever encountered. However, the Europeans seem to love it and that is just fine with us, we can simply book cruises with cruise lines such as Celebrity, Holland America, Carnival, Princess or Norwegian or any number of lines that reflect American tastes! There are NO specialty restaurants on the ship. Instead they sell you specialty meals in the dining room. eg: Lobster which is generally offered one night on any of the other cruise lines we have cruised on and in this case it was horrible! It was dry, tough and tasteless . On another night I had King Prawns and they were juicy but tasted unlike anything I had ever eaten! Oh yes, and the stage shows, well most High Schools present shows that are equal to,or better than those presented on the Deliziosa. The final night of the cruise the entertainment was provided by the crew members themselves and it proved to be the best show of the trip! We did not do any of the shore excursions offered as they seemed quite simple and uninteresting. Going back to the ship and basically its design, it is constructed so that instead of 4 large buffet areas there are many scattered around, such as Pizza here and a grill there and something else over there. This causes a major problem for Americans in that someone is always cutting in front of you, which we assumed to be poor manner or rude people. However, in hindsight I believe it to be a case of the diners get something here and then go to a different area to get something else. They seem to have adapted to this method of obtaining food and we have not and never will! We will simply not sail on a Costa Ship again! Read Less

We chose this cruise for price & timing was good to get away on short notice. It offered 10 nights on an itinerary we love and have been to before. Belize & Roatan, Mexico and more! We have taken several cruises over the years and even worked on Carnival and Princess ships as entertainers for almost 9 years. We knew when booking this cruise it was not going to be high end, but, it was very nice. The staff were fantastic including all restaurant and cabin steward. The musicians were fantastic, especially the Sherade Band, playing popular music incl. rock, country rock. I read the bad reviews before we booked it, but I don't listen to negative people that want to pay cheap prices and expect royalty when they get there. Our cruise was around $1700 for both of us, tax in (Canadian)! You couldn't take a trip 5 hours away in a hotel for 10 nights for this price. Lots of food choices in the buffet and we did eat in the dining room 8 out of 10 nights. The vibe of the crew and staff was friendly, helpful and really seemed to care about us and our needs. The ship was primarily Italian speaking people as it is an Italian based ship. Read Less

We have travelled on Costa Majica in the Mediterranean before and we had a fantastic trip. The food was excellent and the shows were magnificent. So with this in mind we thought why not book our Caribbean cruise with them as well on the Costa Delioza. Because it was it was the start to our month long trip to America for our Honeymoon and wedding in Vegas we decided to go all out and book a suite. (We are South African so the exchange rate for us is R14 for $1). So you can imaging this is a lifetime of saving for a trip of a lifetime. Our Cruise departed from Fort Lauderdale on 20 December 2017. First sign was when our departure was delayed till something like 2am in the morning because some passengers flight had been delayed. There went the excitement of the traditional harbour departure. We couldn't stay awake till that time. Boarding was simple and easy. On boarding we were greeted by a English hostess (we never saw her again on the boat for the full 7 days). That 1st night we went to dinning room reserved for the suites. The Maitre'D took the room card from my husband and looked at me and said and where do you come from as if to say I am not good enough for his restaurant. It was a great start to our dinning experience for the next 7 days. He then told us we would have to come back at 9pm because they were going to be doing the emergency drill. (We have cruised a bit and normally they announce a time for the drill so that you can plan your time around it.) Well we then went and waited in our room for the signal. We did the obligatorily drill and went back to the dinning room. By this stage I had sort of lost my appetite. Well I was expecting much better quality food but again it was the first night and we were still in Port. We woke up to an arrival in Nassau. We didn't book any tours as we prefer to do our own thing when getting off the boat and also we could not afford the prices of the tours. We spent the day with some other passengers we met disembarking. Having been there 17 years before we were shocked at the state of Nassau and how run down it was. It was like going to any market/shopping mall anywhere in the world. We left Nassau and some stupid passenger with high blood pressure decided to go diving (which is not recommended). We heard he died and that is why we had to go back to Nassau and not move on to the Grand Turks. These ships are supposed to have hospitals and morgues on board (my son works on a ship). Anyway this delay meant that we only had a half a day in the Grand Turks which we were so looking forward to. Before leaving (in fact months before) I booked online for the Samsara Restaurant. So off we went with our confirmation. We arrive there and got a very rude well we don't have a booking for you. So I showed her the paper and her reply was well that service online doesn't work you need to book on the ship. After much discussison they seated us at a table right next to the waiters entrance to kitchen. There went our romantic dinner. The food was also very mediocre and we could well have just eaten in our own dinning room. We had another medical emergency not far out of the Grand Turks and the boat once again had to do a u-turn. This luckily didn't effect our other stops. Well back to the over all service. The waiters had a shocking attitude and banged plates down in front of you. The food at the buffet was disgusting (slop). If you wanted a burger you had to pay extra, there was NO ice cream on the boat and you had to pay for pizza. These things have always been included previously. We could not find a bar man, waiter or Matire'D who could give advise on wines. The selection was also very poor. Well now onto the entertainment. It was SHOCKING except maybe if you where Italian. I understand it is an Italian liner but you are cruising in an English speaking part of the world. Adapt. Even on our Mediterean cruise the entertainment was our joy every night. The shows were what we looked forward to every night. There was one morning when our safe would not open and I phoned the customer services desk to ask them to come and open it. We needed our passports and wallets to get off the boat at Ambers Cove. I even phoned our butler. We sat in our room for 4 hours waiting. Only when I went down to the desk and made a scene about the overall service and the fact that some dead guy had ruined our trip to the Grand Turks was I quickly ushered to our room where they opened the safe. Now after such a complaint I would have expected them to send the English Speaking Hostess to us to understand our concerns but no she was no where to be found. That evening at dinner we did get an apology from the Maitre'D and from then on we were treated like any other diner in the restaurant. I am not sure if we looked too poor to be in the suite dinning room or maybe too young? Well we obviously where not good enough until I complained. So overall the staff looked miserable and as if they were just dragging themselves through the day. A couple of the staff told us that they had just had their salaries dropped (can you imagine just before Christmas) and their bonus was a $10 calling card so they could call home for Christmas. Apparently some of the them where at threat of loosing their positions. They are taking the butler service away from the Suites. So I assume they will then lower their fees. Costa will not be seeing us again! Thanks for ruining a trip of a lifetime you sure as hell made it an overall disaster. Read Less

I am from the States, and I recently got married in Ireland. My husband and I were searching for a nice relaxing cruise to take us around the Mediterranean for our honeymoon. We picked Costa because it was stopping at Santorini and Dubrovnik, the top two places on our list. After boarding the ship, we weren't sure where to go. There was no direction and they immediately took our passports away from us for "safe keeping." That made me nervous because if the ship left without us at port, we would have a much harder time getting back to the states. We got a balcony room and it was spacious and clean, and the ship had two pools and a nice spa. The places where we stopped were wonderful: Corfu, Mykonos, Santorini, Dubrovnik. Other than that, I don't have anything positive to say. The food was mediocre at best. I was expecting hot breakfast, and different food stations throughout the day, but the only options were the buffet or sit down dinner, so if you missed the buffet there was no where to eat. Our waiter at the sit down dinner couldn't be bothered with us. There were days we sat there for 20 minutes before he walked over to say hello and take our order. The cruise may seem like a great deal until you board and realize that EVERYTHING costs extra. Pizza, ice cream at the pool, extra pool towels, even ping pong was extra. I've taken a cruise on Royal Caribbean and they go out of their way to make your vacation wonderful. I was expecting a similar experience, but instead felt like I was always annoying people when I would ask for a drink or had a question. Disappointed we used Costa for our honeymoon. Will never book with them again. Read Less

My favorite hangout was on the 9th deck, at the bar, and the staff there is by far the greatest, funnest group of people ever!! They are simply amazing! I didn't ever want to leave! Everything on the boat was awesome, and the food was very good as well! There were also many other activities including a basketball court on the top deck under the stars, a really exciting race car simulating a real race, a nice casino, with a lot of neat games to play, and a cigar bar next to it, if you smoke, that's easily accessible. The theater was beautiful, and spacious, and the audience even got to vote on the winner of a "Voice" show. The next cruise I go on will be with Costa Deliziosa for sure!! Read Less

We've been on more than 25 cruises from Carnival to Cunard. It's always been a great experience. I booked with Costa, because I had heard they have large dance floors. It was beautiful: the floor, the music, the length of time the music played every night from 6:00 'till 1:30 A.M. However, not everyone dances, or plays the casino, or loves to hang out at the bars. But everyone loves to be served and eat on the ship. Here is where the experience goes bad. The food was absolutely horrible, from the prime rib the first night to the exotic foods throughout the rest of the cruise. I found myself eating everyday pasta everyday of the cruise. Even on the gala night, nothing was special, not even serving the typical lobster on the last formal night. Instead they served shrimp cocktail ( that would be the 60 to 70 count per pound size). They even threw in 1 piece of salad shrimp for good luck, I guess. Oh, I had to request ice for my water and butter for my bread every night. As if the food wasn't bad enough, the only free beverage all day and night was coffee, or hot water for one's teabag. The breakfast buffet had juice available, if you didn't mind it so watered down that it tasted like flavored water. Forget about the eggs, or the pancakes and waffles that were served in the dining room for the morning. It took forever to get the order from the server. All in all, we will not go back to any Costa Ship again. They skimp on the food and drink wherever possible, even though the fare was no different than it would be on a Royal or Celebrity. And one more thing, in the restrooms there were no paper towels, only air dry machines like McDonald's. Being American, I didn't mind the language barrier with all the different nationalities on board. Read Less

i would like to start with we have done 3 cruises before all pand o first time with costa will be last. it was mine and my husbands honeymoon, the ship was beautiful clean and tidy, the cabin we were in 6234 was noisy couldnt sleep we informed them 3 days later they moved us to deck 4. due to the room had a problem, our new suitcase was damaged handle hand been snapped off, eventually after speaking to ciara english hospitally rep who was lovely, we got it sent to the onboard carpenter who fixed it, the food in the restaurant albatross was nice, our waiters on table 225 was excellent. the buffet food had alot to be desired same things, usually the food in there would be cold, breakfast scrambled eggs freezing, costa is all money you had to pay for everything, water which is a neccessity and should be available all the time, instead of paying for it, coffee was not available all the time like on other cruises, unless you paid for it again cold, entertainment was mostly for the italians on board, the band in the disco on deck 3 were brilliant, shows crap, announcements mad mostly in italian so if you were english or american you had no idea what they were saying, we spoke to americand and board and they were the same as us. most of the english said they wouldnt do costa again, we did however get a surprise from the executive chef a bottle of wine sent to dining table, and champagne and chocolates to our cabin for honeymoon, ciara got us an invite to captains honeymoon cocktail nite where the captain bleesed our marriage that was the best bit, the cabin staff, cleaning staff, and waiters all work hard, they need more regognition, not much to do on the ship disappointed. will be goin back to p&o, or royal carribean for next cruise. All the staff were helpful and happy, the ship was always being cleaned, the food was lovely and varied either in the main restaurant of the buffet style. The only gripe I would agree with is yes the main pool area can get very noisy but there are 2 pools to chose from or you can just find a quieter part of the ship, it is big enough. All in all I would recommend this ship to anyone we enjoyed every minute of the cruise and for the first time in a long both of us did not want to go home, we will definitely cruise again and use Costa again. This was my second cruise, and first cruise with Costa. I recommend cruising but potentially with a different Cruise company. From the first instance, Embarkation is a nightmare as it is very unclear to guests the process that they need to follow. We got their at 12 30 and did not get on to the boat until 1530. The main area that we felt needed improvement was the food. It was terrible and did not vary much day to day which gets a bit hard to eat after a week. Even although its an Italian cruise line, the Pasta and Pizza was very average. Another comment we would like to make is that the all inclusive drinks package does not include a bottle of water you can only get it by the glass. We felt dehydrated the whole trip as we were already paying roughly 25 euros a day each for drinks we could not justify paying for bottles of water on top of this. The third disappointment is that all the staff in management rolls or officers were Italian and the rest of the staff e.g. hotel and wait staff were from Asia, Africa and South America. These staff work very hard and we were guessing that Costa employ them on less money than the Italians. At the end of our cruise we received a bill for 60 euros each for 'hotel tip.' We were annoyed at this as they do not inform you of this and we do not think that the staff would actually receive little if any of this 'tip.' That brings up another point, it is not a custom to tip in Italy but every purchase has a 15 percent surcharge put on to it. We did however have a lovely room, awesome service and beautiful views. From our experience we felt that Costas as a cruise company do not care for their guests or staff it is all about money for them. Read Less

This was our 2nd time cruising with Costa and we were really looking forward to it as we had a brilliant time on the Serena 2 years ago(our 1st cruise!). It was nice to see more Brits on board and a good mix of Italians, Germans, French and various other Europeans. Cabin: We got our first ever balcony so we were well made up and we got our request of portside. Cabin was fresh and clean as expected from a month old ship and everything in working order. No complaints at all. Evening Dining: As always the waiting staff were excellent. However, we had not been allocated a table so we had to make a trip to see the maitre d to sort this and were given an early slot as we had hoped....however we did not expect to be sat with a Polish couple. They were lovely but coversation was limited to me and my wife talking to the husband and I felt sorry for his wife as she did not speak any English. Costa should not have allowed this - there were 15 Poles on board and they they put us on the same table as 2 of them. They came to the sit down meal only twice! Besides we wanted to share conversation with Brits and share experiences. We were missing our spice and one night they made us chicken curry which was nice(although they left the skin on). The food compared to the Serena was disappointing the rep suggested it could be the sourcing of the food in the middle east is not like the Med. Also no Pistachio ice-cream on demand - very disappointing! Overall, it was okay but not meeting my expectations of Italian cuisine. Our waiters Joneyl and Gerry were ace, however. Self-Service Restaurant: This has been described to a tee by the previous reviewer. Entertainment: We enjoyed the evening shows, however, it seemed towards the end they ran out of acts and cobbled together some shows like the 'Alpha Tours Folk Show' who were the tour guides used by Costa on the excursions - needless to say we didn't bother. More annoyingly was the Entertainment team who were constantly trying to rope you into some activity or other and bless them they were doing their jobs but trying to make me look like Bob Marley is not entertainment in my eyes. My wife got dragged up to play a game at the back end of the cruise in front of a grand audience of about 10 people to play 'Name That Tune' for Italian songs! Brilliant! I'm glad she didn't win as the prize was a Costa bum bag. Mixed bag for entertainment - some excellent shows like the acrobatic gymnast but followed by some lame stuff. Drinks: We saw this coming from last time so we made sure we got the X1 drinks package. You could have wine at lunchtime and evening meal. For £67 a person it was well worth it (wine, water and soft drinks)- better that the J2 that would have cost £225 for all day drinks - useless when you are not on board. At lunch the bar waiters who float were reluctant to come back to you as the service charge is already paid so they won't earn extra. I did see a lady complain as her bar girl didn't come back for ages and she wanted her drink with her food. Very naughty. Great drinks package and if you are willing to use your nouse(pick a different waiter each time), you are quids in apart from my liver... Customer Service: For some reason Costa were at pains to tell us that if your flight was not booked through Costa, you were classed as "Independent Travellers". We received absolutely no information from Costa or Virgin regarding our pick up from the port and transfer to our hotel, however, last time we booked through Virgin Holidays, they sorted everything out for us. The people working on the Customer Service desk were rude and unhelpful and refused to make any phone calls for us. Excursions: There was a wide selection of Costa excursions available, however, they were very over-priced. The Tour Office on board were unwilling to assist with any enquiries regarding the ports of call, shore-maps etc and only became helpful if you wanted to discuss or book Costa excursions. Read Less

We decided to book everything with Costa through our TA and through Costa website. This was good and bad. Good because of the flight/transfers because this way we had nothing to worry and because we got a deal that offered us the X1 drinks package (excellent for those who don't drink alchool like us). Bad because due to the Bahrein cancelation due to the unrest overthere the tour package we had booked suffered so many changes that we ended at tour desk more times than intended when booking tours online. Flights were with Lufthansa but because we had to go from Portugal to Dubai this was the schedule: 6AM OPO-FRA (2.5h) - 2PM FRA-DXB (5.5h). Getting to Dubai around 11.30PM we had another 60' to pass through passport control and then 45' of transfer (getting to bus and travel) to Port Rashid. With the checkin to Deliziosa going smoothly we ended up on cabin around 2AM but still waiting for our suitcases. Fortunately Costa had some snacks on the Cruise terminal while we were checking-in and the Pizza restaurant was open on-board. Got to a deserved bed rest around 4AM. After this we definitely deserved our vacations. The retirn flight was a little easier since DXB-FRA was around 2AM so we ended up sleep the entire return trip :). Deliziosa being just 1 year-old is a beautiful ship with excellent staff. Food was always available somewhere on-board and with good quality and variety. I think noone can say there are not enough eating options. The only really bad thing are the ice-creams (in an Italian ship we should expect Italian quality ice-creams and that doesn't happen). Entertainment activities are there for all tastes but as we would expect it's light entertainment. Quality light-entertainment. If you like that you will be very satisfied. If you don't you will be disappointed. We liked it but believe that some wouldn't. Others have called attention to drinking on-board. If you drink alchool you're doomed to a heavy bill. If not, and have the luck of getting offered like us the X1 package you're safe. Just buy Boys n Girls for those off main meal drink and you won't get a problem with drinking. On Deliziosa, Costa has some interesting, but priced, things. The F1 simulator, the Golf simulator with a tiny putting green on deck, the 4D cinema, the PS3 corner and the Samsara Spa. Though we didn't use any of them we think the Spa might be a good option and they were constantly publicizing sales for their products. The staff is really good. With 1 or 2 exceptions, besides being very gentle they're excellent workers that provide us and high-standard service. 5 star for all of them. Now, one last word for 2 things we didn't like on our cruise. 1st: due to the unrest in Bahrain, the stop there was cancelled 2 or 3 days before departure. Perfectly understandable. Less understandable is the way Costa re-arranged things. We were supposed to do: Dubai-Dubai-Muscat-Fujairah-Abu Dhabi-Bahrain-Dubai-Dubai. We would think they would either replace Bahrain with another port like Doha or do an overnight stay on the previous port (Abu Dhabi in this case). Well, they took an illogical potion of overnight in Muscat and thus postponing Fujairah and Abu Dhabi 1 day. The only reason I see is the eventually cheaper port stay in Muscat instead of on eof the other more logical options. 2nd: we booked a Dubai visit with Costa. We understand that usually, in these organised tours, the "guides" like to take us to some "friend-shops" for some percentual gain over sales. But when the shop we're taken is a Costa-Club member that Costa takes us without advertising it on their tour sale I think that's a new low-level for tour organisation. Luckily this only happened once and on the last day so we didn't even tried to bother with it. Oh... the general level of the tour guides was well below medium (at least the ones of got - 2 tours in Spanish and 1 in Italian). Everythong considered we ended loving our cruise and had great fun. Definitely recommended Deliziosa and this Middles East itinerary. DUBAI A must in every aspect. The contrast between new and old Dubai is breathtaking. Architectural highlights are everywhere. Burj Khalifa is just beatiful. Shopping heaven for those who search for it. Easily visited with cheap taxi (with taximeter always on) ABU DHABI The Great Mosque is a must visit. Ferrari World and YAS Marina Circuit are also there not to miss for the fans. And when the project 2030 is ready (first museums - Louvre - will open next year I think) it will be a top world destination for anyone with a little cultural interest FUJAIRAH Still can't understand why we stopped there. MUSCAT Very interesting. A very strict interpretation of Islam marks this country but it's capital is definetily worth visiting. The mountains from where this city grows are beautiful. Read Less
