Sky Suite 2 (S2) Cabin Reviews

Sail Date: December 2018
Fantastic. Really beautiful. Hope they don't mess with it too much in the refresh. It is perfectly late 90s chic and very well taken care of.

Stateroom: I chose a Sky Suite and because I was last minute there were limited options - I ended up in stateroom 6119 which is S2. Location was good being between midship and aft elevators. The room overall was also in good shape. Some surfaces and upholstery showed wear but not extensive. A- on how clean it was! There is an incredible about of storage not just in the large closet but lots of drawers and cabinets all over stateroom. There was something up with floor near the sofa it is uneven and made weird noise. I also did not really like the view of lifeboats outside my balcany - but it was nice to just relax out there. All in all I was very happy with room. Read Less

Very nice cabin with an oversized balcony. Close to the elevator and very convenient for that reason. Did not have any problems with noise from the elevator or anything else for the entire cruise. Spacious cabin; no complaints! Everything was in great working order. We asked for extra pillows and towels and they were provided promptly. Bathtub is a bit difficult to get in and out of so we brought a step stool as we noticed this on a previous cruise. Lots of storage but would have preferred more shelves and drawers. Overall we would not hesitate to book this cabin again in the future. Robes, slippers, umbrella and binoculars were provided at no extra fee. Butler always went the extra mile too. :) Read Less

we were in an inside cabin on the 3rd floor. The room was clean but the bathroom tile on the floor and shower was all moldy in the grout. I filled out a comment card the second night and the last day of the cruise they decided to replace all of the tiles and locked our bathroom door so we wouldn't go in there. When my room steward told us about it he said we would get another cabin to use for the bathroom. Turns out that cabin which was very nice was up on the 11th floor. No way can we use the bathroom up there and then come back down to the 3rd floor cabin. When we complained they told us to use the 11th floor balcony cabin. It would have been wonderful if it wasn't the last day and by the time we were told that we had to pack our bags so that they could go out in the hallway on time. I had to pack things for overnight and the next day and bring them up to the 11th floor cabin. We only had enough time to shower and change our clothes before dinner. We totally lost the last day of our cruise. Other than that our Cabin Steward Carlos was wonderful and very helpful whenever we asked for anything. We just wish that they would have replaced the tiles after we left rather than displacing us the last day of the cruise. Didn't have time to enjoy the pool/sun or upper decks at all that day. PLEASE fix the sliding balcony door. On night two it popped over and over again as the ship rocked. I had to use ear buds to listen to music to get to sleep. Otherwise it was excellent.

We originally booked an Aqua Class, but a price drop near the sail date provided an opportunity for a relatively inexpensive upgrade to a Sky Suite. I'm glad I did. It was a little smaller than the Grand Suite on our last cruise on RCI's Independence of the Seas, but the way it was laid out, we had more than enough space. The walk-in closet was very nice and provided us with ample storage for our 7 night cruise. Balcony is a little on the small side, so no room for loungers, but that wasn't really an issue for us. Definitely would recommend the cabin to others. Location, in the back-half of the mid-ship area, on Deck 6, put us a short walk and a couple sets of stairs to Luminae on deck 4, or a quick elevator ride up to 10 for the buffet. It does provide for a little bit of a longer trek to the solarium, so if someone was expecting to spend a lot of time there, a room to the front of the ship may be better. Read Less

Our first time in a Sky Suite and certainly felt that the upgrade from verandah cabins was noticeable. There was the bit more space and having the bed facing the sliding door was a nice touch. We particularly enjoyed the walk in closet as it had all the space we needed for clothes as well plenty of drawer space (we actually had much that went unused). But lets me honest, while a bit more space is always appreciated it is still fairly tight quarters. The real upgrade for us was not the room itself, but the extras that came along with it including the Butler, dining at Luminae, access to Michael's club, and a few invitations to fun "extras" that we presume were related to the suite class booking. The biggest downside to suite rooms is the tubs. We read in multiple reviews how tall the bath tub wall was, but felt it was probably overblown. After showering there for a week, I have to agree. It is a significant step up into the tub and once you're in it the ceiling is quite low. I am 6'1" and my head brushed the ceiling. If you're taller than 6'3" this would be a very annoying cruise and might be a reason to avoid suites altogether. This particular room was in a nice location, just a few steps away from the back elevators/stairs and so easy access to most of what we wanted a deck below. The sailing was very smooth, but we felt absolutely nothing in this room. Fairly central in all directions so not much movement. The balcony was nothing special as it faced a stack of barrels just one floor below, so this wasn't the best view. Read Less

Great space and very convenient. Yes there are life boats one deck below but 1) they in no way obstruct the view out; 2) there are worse things to look down upon than one's safety vehicle.

The Sky suite was awesome. Perfect size for 1-2 people (I'm a solo traveler). Had an atypical layout, which was a nice change of pace, and it was located in the best part of the ship, had lovely wood paneled walls. One wall was entirely mirrored, so the suite appeared huge. Marble bath and a walk in closet! I don't even have that at home! Welcome champagne was great, and afternoon canapes were excellent. All in all, the amenities in a Sky suite were terrific. Read Less
