We were sailing with our 27 year old daughter, and so we booked the last available Family Veranda so that she could partition off her bed area and have her own space. There were many things to love about this cabin, particularly the extra large balcony, which we used extensively. The aft balcony also provided us with an exceptional view into Hamilton Harbor. Drawer and closet space was a bit short. We made it work for three of us, but another adult would have been a very tight squeeze. The redesigned room was somewhat strange. There was a bunch of dead space by the door which could have been used at least for hanging space, but there were no hooks there. Nor were there any in the bathroom. The only place to hang wet towels, bathrobes, etc was on the towel rack. There was of course the clothesline in the shower, but with three of us we loaded that up quickly. There were only two outlets in the room and none of them by a mirror, so we had to schedule our hair drying so we wouldn't be both doing it at the same time. There was, however, no noise from scraping of chairs in the Sunset Bar (directly above us) as I had feared, until the last day as we prepared to dock. The bed was decently comfortable if a bit on the firm side. Last comment- this was the dirtiest cruise ship cabin I have ever stayed in. It was clear that the steward hadn't cleaned any of the mirrors. However after we asked him upon boarding, he did do so. The glass partition wall appeared as if it had never been cleaned since the renovation in May. The veranda deck was filthy. I have never been in a veranda cabin where they didn't wash the verandas down on boarding day-this was clearly not done. And furthermore, when the steward cleaned he apparently didn't move anything. There were various little trays in the bathroom and for the glasses on the desk. None of these had been moved- we found a pill under the one on the desk, some hairs under the bathroom vanity mat and some papers and pieces of candy behind the wastebasket. I don't know if this was just our steward or an issue that everyone had. Read Less

Our cabin was huge and the balcony was almost as big as the room. We were four adult women, family, in this one room. There was enough storage space for all of us. The room and the balcony were wonderful!

HUGE Family Veranda Cabin. Cabin 8168, aft facing, 2 separate living spaces, 2 t.v.s and a HUGE balcony with a table, 4 chairs and 2 loungers. The cabin was not noisy nor the movement bad. It was slightly worn out looking and the bathroom was tiny. Overall a clean cabin other than the empty Corona beer bottle under the sink and the pair of flip flops under the bed from the last cruise (or maybe before that). Can't really blame the cabin steward too much as he had 14 cabins to clean each day. When we had a flickering light and a smelly mattress it was fixed immediately. I thought the smelly mattress was my husband's feet stinking until I realized it was a stinky vomit smell coming from my mattress. Again, once I brought it to their attention it was changed immediately. A+++ (I did apologize to my husband). Read Less

Wonderful stateroom! Beautiful ocean views! Ample balcony space along with ample closet and drawer space. No speaker in stateroom...in order to hear announcement you had to open bedroom door.

Very disappointing. The sofa bed in this room is effectively unusable with 'undulating', seriously worn and noisy springs and a paper thin mattress. My student daughter manged to get by for a week on the other single mattress & sleeping on the floor. The sofa's themselves were old and uncomfortable so we didn't even sit on them. I've informed guest relations and the attendant was fully aware of this issue but I have no confidence this will have made any difference. The bathroom is looking tired and old with cracked floor grouting, mould in many areas/corners and the shower head flops. The attendant was lovely but, for the first time ever I have heard noise, and a lot of it, from the next door cabin, mostly from 2 very noisy young boys who screamed and ran around late into the night and should really never have been 'contained' on a ship. Since these rooms are sold as family rooms, I would beware. I've no idea if the room configuration makes for thinner walls between these particular two cabins - 7201 & 7199 - but it is an issue, even down to the door slamming shut on exit and entry. We also had serious soot land on the balcony from the ship's funnel. We overlooked the veranda to the 'penthouse suite' and had to endure kids throwing bottles overboard and smoking. We also had to hear the people above conversing with 'neighbors' about how great their day had been and how dysfunctional their families were, due to the openness of the balconies. Towards then end of the cruise we were also affected by noise from late night music blaring out from the sunset deck. My initial excitement at securing this room on a late available guarantee has left me disappointed. Despite the slight extra space, privacy screen and larger balcony, I wouldn't choose this room again and was disappointed that we were unable to transfer to any other room due to the ship being 'full'.
