Embarkation was about 5 minutes, arriving at the Port at 11:30am. Cabins were not ready till after 1 pm. Greeted with the Mimosa and many smiling faces. Had lunch at the Mast Grill, and waited for the room to be ready. Mast Grill has excellent hamburgers and fries and was my choice for lunch for most of my cruise. Sky Suite 2150 all the way AFT on the 12th Deck, pool Deck... Amazing amount of drawer and closet space. Small bathroom with a tub with a high step over! Waterfall Shower. Balcony, 2 reclining chairs(not lounges) private and it got decent sun. Soot twice, but cleaned quickly. Butler was good, but if you utilize one read the list of things he does, because he will not offer that information. High tea brought to the room was nice, and the breakfast on the balcony was lovely. Food: So much better than my cruise on the Reflection 2 years ago. Luminae Diningroom for Suites only, was not live yet, and had the same menu as the MDR, but it was great! The Diningroom itself is lovely, elegant, relaxing and the service I had was impeccable! Mast Grill : Good Hamburgers and Fries Ocean view Cafe: Decent food overall... Spa Cafe : great place for healthy food. Bistro on 5 now $10.00 charge and the menu change very disappointing! Room Service: biggest disappointment of all, very limited menu and now better items cost $$ Entertainment: really good shows, very diverse entertainment, CD Richard Spacey good! Noticed serious cutback from 8-9 Activity Staff to 3-4... Activities were fun, and Officers got involved with some of the activities. I was never bored! I did miss the lectures they have had in the past though. I would definitely cruise on the Silhouette again without hesitation! Read Less

Myself, wife and daughters went on the Silhouette last month. They had all been on a cruise before but for me it was the first time. Generally I have to say that it was everything I thought it would be, in a positive way. ALL the staff were excellent (with one exception) and could not do enough for the passengers. Both of our cabins (next door to each other) were fabulous. FOOD: An excellent standard for every meal. We ate every evening in the main restaurant at approx 8.15 at a table for four. Having previously paid for gratuities (an American obsession!) we did not have to stick to one of the two sittings. Really, really good food at every meal. The main cafe/restaurant on Level 14 always had a plentiful supply of everything. ENTERTAINMENT: Rich, Rachel and Sarah were absolutely superb. Whatever they are paying these guys, it's not enough! Extremely amusing, always going the extra mile and very professional....all three of them. Well done! The captain took part in a variety of events and was also superb. He is informative, has an excellent sense of humour and really cares about his profession. All the shows were of a high standard. I am 'in the business' and thought that the singers and dancers on this ship were outstanding. PORTS OF CALL: Cozumel-OK. Grand Cayman-Lovely. Jamaica-OK. Haiti-OK. Excursions are VERY expensive and there is a constant call on all passengers to do one or two. We as a family did an excursion in Jamaica (Martha Brae) which was excellent but at $400 I think it's 'over the top'. DRINKS: I think the drinks packages are pricey but then it all depends on how much you want to drink on a daily basis. WIFI: I needed wifi for business during the cruise and it was $200 for the week. In port the general reception is good and of course you can get free wifi in cafes and bars. Out at sea, the ship's wifi is adequate although a little slow. It was worthwhile though. Referring to an earlier comment about one exception with staff, I found the Guest Relations desk disappointing. On three occasions I had questions to ask there and I just didn't get the information I wanted. The staff just didn't seem to know to be honest. Caring but a bit clueless. All in all though, very positive feelings from the cruise. A lovely, well maintained ship with an excellent team led by a superb captain. Read Less

First the positives.. Ship and cabin were immaculate and the constant cleaning bears that out. The crew is extremely friendly and when they meet your eye they smile and greet you which makes you feel wanted. Embarcation and discharge at the end of the trip are down to a science and waits are minimul due to fast moving lines and multiple agents. Finally the activities during sea days offer something for all tastes. They have also solved the age old problem of the "chaise hogs" who reserve early in the AM and never show up until late in the day not allowing guest who need the chairs to have access. Crew now removes towels and books if they see that they are unoccupied for several hours. Now the negatives. We have been sailing regularly with Celebrity since the day they were acquired by Royal and unfortunately have seen a constant drop in food quality. Obviously this is based on economics but now it is becoming obvious to the regular travelers with this cruise line. Number of menu items and choices are far less than in the past, size of portions have decreased. and the quality of the items is not the same. They actually had drumfish (which is a trash fish) as the fish choice one evening-rejected by two table members who tried as foul tasting. The buffet also has obvious cost cutting- the carvery station did not have beef or turkey but pork every day (less expensive) and the cold shrimp which used to be a staple on every lunch is no longer served. They have also eliminated the free sushi and ice cream at 5 pm every day. Entertainment with the prouction show was really poor, obscure original music with an over production of dance that had no discernable theme and I as well as many others walked out. Why not go back to revolving guest performers who had acts that the guests enjoyed rather than less expensive production shows using taped music background. Finally we went concierge class which is hardly worth it, except for early boarding. The promised snacks consisted of a lump of cheese, a single shrimp, and similar items that amounted to under three ounces of food. All served with no crackers to put the cheese or spreads on. When asked the steward came back with a package crackers like you get with a bowl of soup. The fresh fruit was two apples., no bananas or oranges or pears-which were available on the buffet so the ship had them. The free wine bottle which used to be in the state room upon arrival now required asking the steward to deliver, which a number of guests were unaware of so they never ordered. All in all, the cruise was enjoyable but please Celebrity raise your rates for a few bucks and go back to your old standards/ Read Less

We chose this cruise for price (they had a terrific "two for one sale" on Concierge Class) - and for destination of St Kitts and San Juan. We were not very interested in St Thomas or St Martin. We had tow previous Cruises on Celebrity (Equinox and Solstice) which we LOVED. ST Kitts is our favorite island and we cant' understand why the ship does not dock until 6:00 p.m. - a 4:30 call is too early. The public areas including the spa and Solarium blasted loud, cheesy music , and the theme for the crew seemed to be "Sell, Sell, Sell". The dinner menu and cuisine the first six nights was exceedingly lackluster. Then, they pulled out all the stops for their Christmas Eve and Christmas Day menus...offering all of our favorites at once. Why not spread out the appealing items over the 8 nights? To the credit of the very hard working chefs, the buffet on Christmas Day at lunch was spectacular...but the lines were very, very long at the carving station. The desserts were over the top in presentation. The breads at breakfast and lunch were superb- not so much at dinner in the dining room - when the rolls seemed too hard often. We arrived an hour late in San Juan because of rough seas, so the Captain extended the time. Btu is was frustrated to not have daylight for sightseeing in the beautiful Old City. I got a good bargain on a ring in St Thomas, and we had a lovely cab driver name Jai in St Martin. He took us north up to Loterie Farm where I swam and we enjoyed a delicious lunch. The cabin was very good with a super-comfy bed. I had to request feather free pillow and our steward gave us lots of extra. The balcony was a good size. There was adequate storage space. My only complaint about the room is that the refrigerator never got cold. I had two overpriced spa treatments during this cruise and neither masseuse was especially good, and one really bullied me trying to get me to purchase product. I did not give in, thank goodness. Compared to the other ships, we did not care for the Silhouette and would not book on it again. It seemed several steps down from the Equinox and Solstice in overall quality of service, and friendliness. We obtained a great sale price for this cruise, so I almost feel that I should not be so critical. But I certainly do not see enough of an advantage for Concierge Class vs. a regular veranda cabin. P.S. I lost a valuable earring in the Cabin and it was not found, Read Less

Eastern & Western Caribbean (B2B) December 2016 As a veteran cruiser, of 22 Cruises total, I must say this cruise (B2B) left me feeling empty. Yes, it beat working or being home in the harsh realities of winter, and any time on a cruise ship is a good time. I can only give the Silhouette Three Stars, and wish I had better researched the ship prior to booking my B2B. But most of my critical thoughts are based around the food or dining options.... The Good: Our cabin, 9358 and cabin steward, Marcos, were Excellent! I have nothing but high marks for him. We never wanted for anything. A mere mention of a thought or idea, and it happened! He gave us the space when needed, serviced our room when it worked for us; as it should be. We tipped him accordingly. Lawn Club Grill, for lunch, #1 We tried it during the first of the B2B and found it to be quite good; $10 per person charge. The Cookie for desert alone was worth it! Great Concept! The Bad: We booked a Concierge room and found the cabin space to be less than expected.... not less in square footage, so to speak, but it seemed as if there are less cubby holes or shelf space to stick the little things you need a place for. So as another reviewer had already mentioned, doing a B2B in this cabin was tight & cozy. We made it work, being very disciplined in putting things where they needed to go, etc. Lawn Club Grill, for lunch, #2 We went there a second time during the first cruise and found it to be quite disorganized. Service was fair at best, but the time for the meal was double of what it should have been. The Chef's / Cooks were even arguing among themselves and the burger took too long.... $10 service charge. With a hope to repeat our first experience (in the good section, above) we went a third time to the Lawn Club Grill, #3. Made reservations beforehand. Arrived a few minutes prior to our reserved time. Waited. and waited, behind another couple. The wait for seating, at the entrance was over 8 minutes; for a Specialty Restaurant, with Reservations! Upon being escorted to a table, another wait started. 5-10 minutes before anyone noticed us enough to give us water. Actually, No One had noticed us, and I had managed to flag down the hostess that had escorted us to our table, and pointed out that 10 minutes later, we had not even been acknowledged or offered water. It was clear they were overwhelmed with the crowd. However I dispute that, as when I made my reservation, they said "all we have open is 1:00" which I accepted. So based on reservations, they knew they were going to be busy. Finally, it appeared as if additional staff appeared. A manager looking person saw the look on my face and came over to ask why I was looking so frustrated. I explained what had happened thus far, to which she listened and apologized. Burgers arrived soon afterwards..... and the desert cookie seconds after our burger boards had been cleared. So it seems to have made a difference? Service Charge $15 / per person! Not sure where I missed seeing the increase, but for lunch approaching not worth it. Select Dining We too received the letter 'suggesting' that for Select we come at this time or that time? What? Isn't the whole concept of Select Dining to come when you want to? Not when it's convenient for the Dining Room? Regardless of when we went to the Dining room, the Select Dining Hostess always seemed overwhelmed. We came one night, she was in panic mode as it was busy; were told it would be 20 minutes, and given a pager to wait. Another night, no line, but she still appeared frazzled and had to find someone to escort us to a table. So after considering most meals to be 'ok' we ended up using the Oceanview Cafe for many meals. Very peaceful and you pretty much had the place to your self. I spoke to another passenger, that said they had excellent service when they had sailed on the Silhouette over a year ago. But they had noticed a decline in service (and manpower) from a year ago, to this cruise. They were told that the Cabin stewards used to handle 25 cabins, with a helper. Helpers are no more, so the cabin number has been reduced. However as I mentioned above, our Cabin Steward was awesome -- but it cause me to pause: If there really have been staff reductions in Housekeeping, can I assume the same happened in other departments? For example Dining, which could explain some of my thoughts surrounding Select Dining or the Lawn Club Grill? Final Thoughts: I found this ship to be beautiful, but not very well run. All the public areas were clean and well maintained; We arrived at each port at exactly or later than the schedule time (don't most RCL ships arrive before the scheduled time?) Officers are very visible and very approachable! Also too much energy is spent trying to sell you something / anything while you're on board. Watches, Jewelry, future cruises, etc... The Shows were good, and we too loved the December63 group (saw them twice); loved all the comedians - Rich and Luigi both did an Excellent job. I also thought Patrick, that ran most of the Games, did a great job. I can easily see him as a Cruise Director someday soon. Tender service was a pain in Grand Cayman, but what tender process isn't? Despite everything above, I will most likely book another Celebrity Cruise -- just not on the Silhouette Read Less

I have previously traveled with Celebrity three times and all three were with the Century (which was recently sold to a Chinese company). The total time spent on the ship was over a month and I loved everything about this smaller boat. Now, over two years later, I decided to try another Celebrity cruise. After all, I'd enjoyed the previous ones so much. Unfortunately, I was left very, very flat by my cruise aboard the Silhouette--mostly because the quality of the food has slipped so very badly. The dinners looked great but often tasted awful....and this even included some of the food at the optional (and expensive) restaurants (we ordered two ribeyes at Tuscan and they both were flavorless). The buffet sucked and often had portions roped off--making the novel buffet idea more like an obstacle course. Also, the 24 hour room service is NOT 24 hour and the quality was the worst of any of the food options. Apart from the food the other serious problem was the noise. Although the average age of the cruisers appeared to be about 60-70, the ship was incredibly loud--with music blaring in the central portion of the ship--and making it impossible to relax in the coffee bar or martini bar on the decks above. And it wasn't just that the music was loud, it was also annoying--often with loud Eurobeat music which none of the older passengers would have enjoyed. So was there anything I really liked? Yes. Ther service was still exceptional. So, while dinners and loud music annoyed me, it was hard to hate the trip because the crew was well trained and attentive. Read Less

The port side process was smooth, but the embarkation process proper was a little clunky. I have been cruising for many years, but this was the first time I had to wait to board the ship. Once the wait was over, embarkation moved along pretty well. The design of the ship is very attractive. I have cruised with the Equinox, Reflection and Solstice before, all sister ships of the Silhouette. I was traveling with my wife and children, as well as my in-laws. Unfortunately for me, my experience on this particular voyage was quite poor. For starters, the cabin was incredibly dusty and allergenic. My son and myself were both sneezing and coughing from the moment we entered our state room. The cabin was so dusty that my son had recurrent asthma attacks while in our room. My wife developed a rash on her arm and torso. The stateroom attendant was not of much help in getting the cabin cleaned. After a visit to guest relations, an in depth cleaning was performed with immediate improvements. We had reservations for early seating for 6 people. We were offered a nice table towards the back of the main dining room. Food in the main dinning room though was horrible. We actually had to send the food back several times during the first 2-3 days of cruising. We ended up not going back to main dinning room after multiple attempts to address the food quality issues. Unfortunately service and food quality in Ocean View Cafe was also poor. It was common for food staples like cereal to run out during breakfast service. When requesting cereal, some staff member answered that there were over 4000 people on board and that they sometimes run out of things. Not quite the answer I expected. Food quality and availability issues were addressed with multiple people while on board the ship. After countless attempts at addressing food services, the Maitre'D made arrangements for the last 2 nights at specialty restaurants. Having young children makes dining in such establishment difficult and that was our original reason to aim for the main dining room service in the first place. I do not expect 5 start gourmet food in the main dining room, but I also don't expect to be sick from what we are being served. Entertainment, spa services, life enrichment activities and music were great. Many activities were occurring across the ship to meet most people's interests. That is the Celebrity service I have learned to expect over the years! Ports of call were very nice, with ability to have a lot of fun. Exception to this was the Cayman Islands where 7 cruise ships were being tendered to shore. Celebrity tender service was poorly organized with only one tender able to dock shore side at a time, with 2 tenders waiting with passengers to disembark. Other cruise lines used local tenders, who could dock in other locations and transfer more people more efficiently. Our excursion was delayed without any staff providing the passengers with any updates. No assembly point was ever demarcated with a lollipop. People were running back and forth without knowing what was happening. Once the excursion started, we had an absolute wonderful time. On the last day of our cruise, our beverages purchased shore side had not yet been delivered to our state room and I had to go hunt for them on debarkation day. I was told that the crew did "not get around" to delivering the bottles to our state room. This has NEVER happened before with any cruise line in 20 years of cruising. In summary, this was by far the worse experience ever after close to 2 decades of cruising! We were invited to specialty restaurants on the last 2 evenings of the cruise, but this hardly makes up for our horrible experiences. To this date, I have not been contacted by Celebrity to discuss my experience on this voyage. I did leave a comment card on the ship, filled out the cruise review and contacted their customer service department. There appears to have been a major shift in Celebrity's commitment to their customers as I would never have expected such lack of professionalism from a reputable company like Celebrity. I was scheduled for 15 day Holiday cruise on December 19th of 2016 on Celebrity Equinox which I proceeded to cancel today. Read Less

Recently ten friends and I sailed on the Celebrity silhouette. They offered a deal called pick your perks,we chose the beverage package, at what we thought threw booking with a celebrity cruises customer service rep was an all inclusive beverage package. We found out the second day of the cruise we were charged for all the alcohole we drank. The package the y gave us was actually call the classic beverage package, and was informed at the customer service desk it included certain vodka and not others, certain rum and not other ect,it would have been nice to have this told to us before we got on the ship. Well over a hundred dollars they got from me on drinks that day. Threw the entire cruise we felt nickel and dimed to death. The buffet food was the same everyday, the food was below standard, service was exceptionally bad we finished our food normally before anybody waited on us to give us drinks.we we're constantly hounded to go to specialty restraunts with staff waiting outside the buffet. I could go on and on about the disappointment in that area. The first two days we were at sea they closed the casino and bars early and basically put us to bed. We never saw our room attendant except for the first day when she told us they couldn't find our luggage. The best thing about this cruise was getting off the ship at ports. The service was unbelievably horrid! The last day I bought a watch supposivly seventy- five percent off. It cost 175.00 so I bought it thought it was beautiful and a good deal. I checked the price online when I got home it cost retail at over five stores 75 bucks. Need I say more. I will be sticking with princess with who I've sailed five times now and had excellent service. I love cruising it really took a lot to ruin our vacation, But Celebrity and their staff managed to do that! I don't normally complain but if I'm able to help anybody else out there this is worth it Oh and let me add they had everybody who was walking off the ship at the end of the cruise carry their luggage down three flights of steps, what a joke!
