My husband and I both enjoyed the itinerary on this cruise , which was a factor in booking this particular cruise. However some on board experiences fell short of expectation. . The dress code was not enforced which was irritating with some guests wandering around in beachwear with drink in hand on chic night . This is not acceptable. Guests have taken the time to dress up .. who wants to stand next some person in shorts In the Martimj bar ? ... The food some evenings in Luminae restaurant was inedible ( my opinion) , not enough choice on menu . Entertainment in the theatre was amateur. Nightclub was never busy with dreadful karaoke possibly putting guests off going there . Despite the above criticism we always cruise with Celebrity , we find the on board staff excellent always friendly and helpful . Our next cruise booked is on the Edge , looking forward to that experience. Read Less

I have never been so disappointed on a cruise before and have cruised over 40 cruises. I want to download my review but am unable to paste on this site for some reason. The whole experience was so disappointing and we were expecting so much. No WOW factor, the dress code was stupid and not adhered to - yet to see anyone check 'designer jeans' on the 'chic nite' which was meant to be formal! Food mediocre to say the least. All they want you do is book the speciality restaurants at $ 50 per head as the food in the MDR is so repetitive - even if you can read the menu as the lighting is so dreadful. On the whole a terrible experience not to be repeated. Bad tempered staff (if you can find them) a terribly designed ship inside and outside. The only good thing was the extremely comfortable beds and pillows and excellent Cabin steward. The Aft bar (and staff) were also excellent but the area was not large enough. The pool area is terrible - half shaded most of the time and towels left for hours by extremely selfless people. Fortunately, the ports of call and weather were excellent. Read Less

A review of our 21 night (back to back) Mediterranean cruise on the Celebrity Reflection. Embarkation at Civitavecchia was brilliant. We arrived just before 11am to no lines at all and were onboard by 11.10. We set about exploring the ship before upgrading our classic drinks package to the premium and headed to the Oceanview Buffet for lunch. By 1.30pm, all staterooms were ready so we headed down there to find our luggage had already arrived. The ship is just beautiful and is only 4 years old - we were actually lucky enough to celebrate her birthday with a pool party whilst onboard which was fun. Every area of the ship was scrupulously clean and certainly could not be faulted. The staff were just amazing. We did not meet even one who was not smiling and happy. We mainly ate in the Main Dining Room and could not fault the food except to say that it was often not hot enough. The only Specialty Restaurant we tried was The Porch on Deck 15 adjacent to the Lawn Club and Lawn Club Grill. They serve beautiful fresh seafood and we certainly ate our share of lobster tails, prawns, scallops, etc on the 4 occasions we ate there. Cost was $30USD but we only paid $20 each time. The specialty restaurants really seemed to be struggling and staff were constantly offering discounts to dine in them. These discounts started at 30%, quickly went to 40% and were eventually 50%. We are not fans of the buffet at all and only ate there when we had absolutely no choice. I did not like the food and it was definitely not hot enough. This is a particular bugbear of my Health Inspector Hubby! We had an oceanview cabin on deck 3 which was very spacious with plenty of storage space. It was only 4 cabins from the main foyer which includes Guest Relations, Shore Excursions and the Passport Bar. We were initially worried that it would be very noisy, but I can honestly say that we heard nothing, even when there was a band playing. We absolutely loved the position of this cabin. Straight into the main foyer and through to the dining room. Lifts close by and down one flight of stairs to deck 2 for disembarkation at ports. Our favourite bar was the Sunset Bar, aft deck 15. The staff there were fantastic and Milton always made us laugh. We found the Martini Bar and the Passport Bar very flat which is quite different from our experience on other Celebrity ships. Eventually we made out way to the Ensemble Lounge and found Nelson who we had met in the Passport Bar on the Solstice last year. He and Dario took very good care of us and we met some lovely couples who also frequented this bar. We had visited most of the ports when we sailed on the Equinox 4 years ago, so decided to do something different in each one. We did not do any of the exorbitantly priced ship's tours. I organised tours for us before we left home. This all went very well and if anyone wants any recommendations, please feel free to PM me. The transition from the first to the second cruise was absolutely painless and took no time at all. This is the smoothest cruise we have ever been. The sea was flat as, except for 2 or 3 nights when things got just a little rough. After spending 21 nights on a cruise ship, you would expect to have that rock and roll feeling for a few days afterwards but we had no side effects at all. The only complaint I have about Celebrity is that as they increase the free perks they offer, onboard prices seem to be getting higher. A bag of laundry on our cruise last year was $30 and is now $50. To have a pair of undies laundered is $3USD! Yes we washed ours in the sink of course. Internet prices are also ridiculous. We paid $37 for 24 continuous hours and this was with 25% off for our Select status. I used free wi fi in ports and eventually bought a local sim card. Re upgrading your classic package to the premium - wait until you are onboard as they offer deals. The person who secures your upgrade gets a commission, so competition is pretty stiff. Don't be afraid to ask what they can do for you. We received one day free for each cruise. We loved cruising on this beautiful ship so much. Every day, we looked at each other with a huge smile and said, "Living the Dream". The itinerary is fantastic but is very port intensive. This is not a cruise for those who want to lie back and relax. There were only 4 sea days out of 21. We were Celebrity loyalists well before this cruise, but will certainly be hard pressed to cruise with another line now. Read Less

Only reasons we didn't give it 5-star treatment was the annoying upselling of meal and drinks packages. Also really shocked when we were told "your cabin grade doesn't entitle you to shower gel" just a piece of white soap. We did have a balcony! So find room for personal toiletries if you have delicate skin. We would still recommend the ship but warn that if you are a bit of a gourmet you had better save up to pay the extra in the special restaurants which were on the expensive side. Generally the basic food was more than adequate and the buffet choice and quality was particularly good. Even a choice of bacon or crispy bacon. Some confusion in evening restaurant when menu only offered starters and main course. Fortunately our table companions had been on the Eclpse before and we soon got the hang of ordering two starters (eg soup plus seafood etc) then the entree. The choice was quite limited but well cooked and presented. Desserts ok and you can always ask for extra cheese plate.Classic drinks package was generally excellent but do train you waiter to give you the wine you find most palatable. If you are feeling brave ask him to let you have a tasting on the first night, and then stick to the one you like best. He will soon get the idea. And they are really nice guys. Read Less

We are long time (20 years) cruisers on Celebrity and Azamara. We chose this cruise because our sons had never been to to Med. We have recently preferred the service and intimacy of Azamra, but got a great deal on this cruise. We also spent 5 nights post cruise in Rome. The cruise started with a flawless embarkation from Rome. Since we were in a suite, the line was very short and the greeting effusive. Great Start. We got to our suite and were promptly greeted by Stevo, our butler and Clive, our cabin attendant. Both provided exemplary service throughout the cruise. We wanted for nothing, but are not as demanding as some cruisers. We found the ship to be new and spotless in all areas. This is the cleanest big ship I have ever seen. Staff officers were always available and very engaging. We did not eat in the main dining room, so have no comment on it. We had most meals in Luminae with Kateryna, Erdie, and the enitre wonderful crew. The food was excellent, the service perfect, and the banter and conversations with staff and fellow cruisers late into the night. We had such a good time on a couple occasions, we missed the show. We had similar experiences in The Tuscan Grill, Murano, and Blue. Kateryna took care of most of our reservations and even went so far as to visit us in other venues to make sure we were having fun. She should be promoted to the first female Maitre De on the ship! The entertainment we saw on the ship was first class, especially the Tenors of Rock and the singers in the other venues such as Gordon and the house band. Their sets in the foyer drew a raucous crowd. Fun was had by all! Shore excursions were, on the whole, what we expected, The staff was friendly and effecient. They were also flexible in allowing me to cancel a couple of my wifes tickets due to a bad knee. I also need to put in a good word for the Guest Relations staff. I had a couple billing issues that were resolved quickly and always with a smile! Here a a couple minor , although meaningful recommendations for improvement. 1. The marketing of amenities, drink packages and specialty restaurants is out of control and needs to be curtailed. Do it for the first 3 days and then STOP!!! This one issue is SOOOOOO bad that, if it happens on our next cruise to south america in March, I will consider changing cruise lines after 20 years of loyalty. The grade of Average for our on board experience is due entirely to this issue alone. Conversations with crew members about this issue reveals that it is being driven from Miami. STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2. The shore excursions started to early How about 9am instead of 7:30am. 3. The coffee is still terrible. Thats it. Read Less

My wife and i used CC to do a lot of research and chose the Celebrity Reflection/East Med cruise. We're also used to an element of luxury on our hols so opted for one of the Signature Suites, therefore this review might not be relevant for some as we didn't use the MDR or Opus, or even the pool for that matter. However, what we did experience was fantastic and the perks you get with this level of suite made us feel like royalty, the suite was also beautiful with a nice size of balcony. Although we did visit friends in the Penthouse and that was unbelievable spacious and opulent! We also enjoyed great room service, laundry, wifi (not very fast though) and free spirits plus mini bar. The bed was fantastic as was the storage and practical aspects of the room, easily on par with 5-star hotels we've stayed at. We dined with the Captain (what a dude!) on the second night in the Tuscan Grille and we enjoyed a steak of peerless quality. We loved Murano, but the menu is small and does not change, unlike Luminae, however that could be hit or miss. Qsine was a bit of a fad but enjoyable. The service was excellent in all cases. We did sometimes have breakfast in the Ocean View cafe, which was fine. The only meal experience we really didn't enjoy was the Lawn BBQ that was 'pushed' onto us as we left the check-in area; what a waste of 140USD that was, with average food / wine and it was also blowing a gale through the gaps in the screens, so everyone was miserable. We felt such fools giving up a speciality restaurant that was effectively free for us for this rubbish. So even though we had a full package we still ended up as a victim of pushy sales :( We used Michael's every night, which was fairy quiet most of the time, but we made some great friends and had such a laugh, the staff again are superb in there. The cocktails are not the quality we're used to, but we certainly got our monies worth via our all inclusive package that comes with this level of suite. One criticism is the underhand tactics used by some of the services on board, such as the spa. This happened to 3 sets of couples we knew of, including us, where you receive your service (Hair, massage etc) and they say 'oh your hair is dry' or 'you feel tense', would you like this or that, but not explain the cost implication. Fortunately our butler sorted everything and we were refunded some of the money (So were the other couples). The ship excursions are also expensive, we did 3, but would do our own next time. Coming and going off the boat was very efficient and better than i imagined it would be, we didn't even have to check out, just grabbed our cases straight to a car that was waiting for us. The entertainment was a bit weak some nights, but we enjoyed a couple of shows. There is lots to do elsewhere and thought the daily itinerary leaflet was good. The casino was never busy, i ended up playing Craps by myself which is no fun, but that's not the fault of Celebrity, it certainly felt like a mini Vegas. Any negativity we experienced was completely overshadowed by our love for everything else, definite cruise converts now, although we got a great deal for the Signature Suite, looking at prices for next year, it could be a one off. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary which included ports which we had not been to previously. Embarkation was great more or less straight on. We chose to go Concierge class and didn't find that we had any extras except for the appetiser in the afternoon which we enjoyed. Cabin we felt was a little smaller than we were used to as we kept bumping into each other. The cabin steward Mohamed was great and saw to our every need. We were very disappointed with the food in the main dining room, the choice was limited and the quality was not up to the standard of other ships we have been on recently. We had a great deal of hassle with our table at (Too long a story to outline here). Talked to a number of guests and they also found the food disappointing.Waiters were great. The food in the speciality restaurants was first class but of course this came at an extra cost of around $50 dollars. The food in the self service restaurant was great, plenty of choice and well cooked. Our cruise included a drinks package (Classic) but what they don't tell you is that it is very limited in what you can have. Most drinks were over $8-9 dollars per glass and therefore not available We upgraded our package on board and found that that covered everything we needed. Entertainment is average on this ship, most of it was just music no lectures or exhibitions. There were tours around certain areas of the ship but again this came at an extra cost. We did find that the ships company were constantly "on the sell" from dining experiences, to wine tasting, to pictures , to jewellery raffles, to spa treatments etc etc I had my hair done on a formal night, the cost of the blow dry was $60 dollars but the stylist told me that my hair was dry and he could give me a treatment for a few dollars. I agreed and ended up paying $123 dollars. Complained but was only offered a free blow dry. Not good enough. After all the complaints above, we did enjoy our cruise but would not travel on the Celebrity Reflection again. It was not a patch on our cruises with Celebrity Galaxy and Silhouette. Read Less

It offered vgood value, we had a veranda room which was excellent, with great views of the coastlines as the boat cruised its way thru calm waters all the way. The food was excellent, we only used the buffet & the restaraunt not the specialty restaurants, the entertainment was good to very good, as we were leg weary after day visits not looking for extra activities at night. The ship is 5* & is kept clean night & day, toilet room staff are on hand to make sure this area is clean, only cruise line so far i have encountered this. The staff all worked well, you can plan your excursions from your tv so there is no cue at the excursions desk. The washing was $20 for the first bag which was vgood value. The drinks were expensive all in USD plus a 18.5% loading which is a bit cheeky as we opted for prepaid gratuities, however if you dont drink much alcohol then no prob. The $300usd credit helped a lot with excursions, the excursion to Ephesus is money well spent. Keep in mind, if you go to Santorini dont bother with other excursions like volcano hiking as you need about an hour to walk up the path to the top of Santorini as the chair lifts cannot accomodate the thousands in port, there were 3 boats anchored the day we visited. This was the only -ve on what was a great cruise, would go again tommorow. Read Less

Italy and Greece and Turkey. Best cruise, ship, staff and food yet! Our stateroom service was fantastic, the food in all venues was very good and the ship clean and easy to navigate. Highly recommend this cruise line and this itinerary. With the exception of Santorini all the excursions were outstanding. Santorini is too many people, too small an area and long waits. Pretty to look at from the ship. In Ephesus we used Curio Travel Turkey and Greece for the tour. The sights were outstanding, the van very comfortable and the guide (Ike) was great. Notable with this tour agency - no high pressure selling. Overall, the tours, ship and all service was the best we've experienced in many cruises. The ease of embarkation and disembarkation were great. No long lines. Luggage handling was very good. While we probably won't take this particular cruise again we will strive to have a cruse on the Reflection but definitely will use Celebrity. Our first Celebrity cruise to Bermuda as also very good. Recommend a few days in Rome prior or after the cruise. We stayed at the Napoleon Hotel which was clean, friendly and very convenient. Used Bobs Limo. service from the airport to hotel and to port. Great Trip. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our 60th birthdays and it was our first ever cruise but certainly not our last. It was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. We sailed from Rome stopping at Messina, Sicily, Mykonos, Rhodes, Kusadasi, Santorini, Athens, Naples and finally Civitavecchia. The level of service, food, entertainment, comfort etc was exceptiional. We would particularly like to give special mention to Peter, our charming and Professional Waiter in the Opus Restaurant, assistant Waiter. Purnama and Sommelier Braganza. These gentlemen are a credit to themselves and a wonderful asset to Celebrity Cruises. Last but certainly not least We would also like to give a mention to Jose our wonderful stateroom attendant who looked after us so well. A big Thank you to all the wonderful staff Who Made our first cruise so memorable. We look forward to hopefully meeting you all again. Grazie mille a tutti. Read Less

As an introduction er cruise 3 to 4 times a year, the last cruise, in May 2016, on the brand new Carnival Vista, which was outstanding from every point of view and our next cruise in 5 weeks on the Celebrity Silhouette. We have become used to an extremely high standard on the Celebrity Silhouette, however the Reflection has a long way to go, or Celebrity have purposely lowered standards. The good part was that check-in and boarding the ship was completed in about 15 minutes. We received our stateroom and were satisfied as it was quite similar to the Silhouette, bar a few differences. On the third floor midship it was ideal as one feels the movement of the ship much less. Toiletries are offered, according to the Celebrity site, but are difficult to come by and shower caps and cotton wool was not given nor offered at all. As well there is no wash line in the shower. As one who frequents the gym twice a day, it made for difficulties after washing out my sports gear.. My other main gripe is the aggressive marketing by the speciality restaurants. All over the ship, one is almost attacked and after giving reasons why we don't eat there, my wife is vegetarian, we are given reasons why we should eat there. Most unpleasant.Even telemarketing is used. The only places I was not approached was on the treadmill and in the pool, but its just a matter of time. Entertainment, left a lot to be desired although the individual artists were of a high standard. Service good, officers and crew most friendly and approachable as with guest relations who were tops! Bottom line is if we see that the Celebrity Silhouette standard has dropped, we have cruised on her 3 times, then we will review our loyalty to Celebrity. Read Less

Chose this because I researched best Med cruise and this came out tops. The ship was very nice(have previously done two cruises with Royal Caribbean on the two newish huge ships). The bar areas and the central area of the ship are darkish and dim in lightening. Our cabin(balcony) was lovely as was Michael who looked after us. Room nearly always done by the time we got back from breakfast. Food was very good mostly but slightly warmish as opposed to hot which one would expect i support when catering for such high numbers. Enjoyed the evening dinners in the main restaurant and the service was great. The excursions were astronomical in price and annoyed that they charge my 15yr old son full price including entry to the Acropolis which according to the entry ticket was free for kids under 18. Not impressed and went back to request the 20 euros back which they denied me. They even got a supervisor down who also argued some point that made no sense. Where is the adage that the customer is always right?? Would not book one more trip with them but would cruise again with them. My only other criticism was the bar staff, cold and rude in their service(certainly not deserving of the obligatory 18 percent gratuity). Apart from a couple of them I found them all very unfriendly and hard to get a drink at the bar(forget about service at the tables in peak times). Next cruise I will suspend the gratuities as lots did and pay them to deserving people at the end. Read Less

Overall we had a great experience with Celebrity cruise. All the staff was very helpful and friendly, our room attendant (Alfred) was exceptionally helpful. The aqua class room was very comfortable for 10 days we were on board. There entertainment was excellent, we truly looked forward to the evening entertainment. Sue is an excellent cruise director and connects well with everyone. The ship layout was very beautiful and easy to get around. The food was okay not the best. The service in the Blu restaurant was a little slow, so we got used to going there a little early if we wanted to go to the show. The restaurants that were charging we felt were a bit expensive, for the food that was served. The package for photographs was a great deal. All the excursions we took were great. We would have had a 4 star experience if only at the end they would have been more helpful in returning the jacket we left behind in our closet, which was worth over $2,000. The customer service was not very helpful for lost and found, we were told, they would reach out to us in 48 hours several times but not once did we get a callback from celebrity cruise customer service. We did not get any email response on inquiry and had to call to address our issue several times and therefore we were very disappointed to lose such a valuable item, especially when we know we left the jacket in the closet of our room. Furthermore, the site has no reference on disease control on lost and found items. Read Less

We have previously cruised with Seabourn (excellent, but expensive) and Silversea (not at all good and expensive) and we had also taken a cruise around the Caribbean with Celebrity which we thought offered the best value for money. The Ship Reflection is excellent. Its new, clean, modern and spacious. No complaints at all with it. The food quality is excellent across the board (perhaps not the Mast Grill....) Service in the restaurants is also excellent especially the Blu Restaurant which managed to blend friendliness with efficiency very well. Service elsewhere was mixed, ranging from mediocre to down right rude i.e first day, first cocktail of the holiday we requested 2 Mojitos from the pool bar. We were told NO, then bartender muttered something under his breath. We didnt hear (I have excellent hearing), he then shouted as loud as he could and in a foreign language, something that we figured out meant, he had no mint. The ship had no mint from day one to day 3 I think! Our butler was sweet and helpful but overworked. We hoped to be able to take advantage of the unpacking service but he didnt make it to our cabin to greet us until hours into the cruise, we'd already had to unpack ourselves by then to go to dinner. We found out later that he had 12 suites to attend to. Thats too much unpacking to be done by one man in the first hours of the cruise. Luminae, special restaurant available only to suite guests and as an extra cost to regular guests was a bit disappointing. Lovely staff, dont get me wrong but we had an evening where we dined with some friends there. The restaurant was 70% full, mostly couples all dressed smartly (its expensive to dine here) One family group had wild children running along the leather seating and wrapping themselves in the curtains whilst trying to see if they could lift their feet off the floor, whilst the Father used his phone to broadcast live TV to the restaurant. We asked the Maitre'd if something could be done. The answer was that these guests were part of a large party staying in many of the top suites and therefore they didnt want to upset them. You can imagine how thrilled we were I love children, I have no problem with children in the best of restaurants, hotels whatever.....as long as the parents are responsible......or made to be. There were 500 children onboard I believe and a few were out of control. The adult only pool had children in it that the pool staff ignored on the rare occasions that said pool staff were present. The decks were strewn with millions of cheap looking sunbeds which, had I been interested in sunbathing, would have been annoying because at any given time of the day only 20% were occupied whilst 80% lay empty with a bag or a book on them to reserve for whenever the owner chose to return. No monitoring of this habit seemed to take place despite rules saying otherwise. The whole beverage pack issue is a complete mess.....we had friends on the classic package that thought this would cover their needs but it didn't (sparkling water isn't classic...). Our premium beverage package didn't cover all the wines served by the glass, and if we wanted a bottle of whatever was served by the glass then we had to pay for it as though we didn't have any package at all (but could still get 6 glasses of the same wine without additional charge!). We were invited to give feedback after the cruise but presumably because we live in Hong Kong, Celebrity decided that we must be able to read Mandarin despite all of our dealings with them to date being in English. We don't read Mandarin but "incompetent" translates well into most languages.... Fortunately we took all of our paperwork with us because we had to remind them of what was included in our package and they insisted on seeing it "in black and white" on their paper before they accepted what we told them- not good. The cocktail waiter on Day one in Michaels Club candidly admitted he didn't know how to make cocktails- typical of poor customer service experienced in parts of the ship (not all parts but some) Onshore excursions. If you are confident in booking privately from home before you leave you will find the same tours MUCH cheaper. Read Less

We were a group of 8 adults, myself and my husband, our 2 daughters together with their boyfriends and my parents. After 3 nights in Rome we boarded the Celebrity Reflection and we just loved the ship from the moment we got on. Me and my husband went exploring on the first day and eventually found our daughters and their boyfriends (all in their 20s) in the games room which they loved. All the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you. The food was really good in the buffet and the main dining room. Each evening in the main dining room my one daughter who is allergic to nuts and my other daughter who is vegetarian were able to order their food for the following night (this was mainly for the nut allergy). Unfortunately there were a few mix ups, especially one night when my daughter's food arrived with an almond slice sitting on top of it. This was quickly rectified though. We never had any problems getting a seat in the buffet restaurant. The entertainment was really good. We went to all the shows in the theatre which we really enjoyed, although depending on where you sat it was sometimes really loud. We also went to the silent disco which was absolutely hilarious. Another night there was a barefoot party on the lawn, which was really good. The only problem with the entertainment anywhere apart from the theatre was that it was always in locations where, unless you were standing at the front, you couldn't see. This seems to be the way that a lot of the cruises are going now and I can't understand why they don't go back to having a show lounge where everyone could see and you could have a good dance. We did a few quizzes and these were good fun. On the days at sea we weren't able to get a sunbed anywhere near the pool where all the entertainment was happening so we weren't able to see this. On the 2nd sea day the only beds we could find were at the front of the ship where it felt like you were sitting in a force 10 gale. We ended up sunbathing on the lawn, which was quite nice as there was piped music up there. In Messina we just walked into the town and watched the clock chiming. I really wish we had gone to Taormina as this was quite boring. In Mykonos we walked into town and had a look around the beautiful narrow white streets, walking to the windmills. We went back to the ship for lunch and then walked to Agios Stefano beach just over the hill to the left of the port. In Kusadasi we got a Taxi to Ephesus and the Virgin Mary's House which cost 20 euros each. Well worth it. We then walked around Kusadasi and did lots of haggling. In Rhodes we looked around the walled town and then went to Elli Beach where there is a diving board. It was fascinating watching the youngsters doing all sorts of back flips etc off the board.. In Santorini we caught a boat round to Oia. The trip included a coach up the hill from the port and then when you've finished walking around Oia it included a coach back to Fira. From there we walked down the steps back to the tenders (nightmare dodging the donkeys and trying not to slip on the steps). In Athens we had booked a tour with Piraeus Express Bus which was wonderful. Our tour guide Anna was so lively and we saw all the sites. In Naples we had booked a tour in Napoli Sotteranea, underground caves and tunnels that used to be used for storing water and were then used as bunkers during the war. Our guide here, Fabio, was excellent and was really funny. Last year we sailed on a Princess ship for the 2nd time and thought that things had really gone downhill, but this was our 2nd time on Celebrity and it is still as good as I remember it. I would thoroughly recommend this ship to anyone thinking of taking a cruise. Read Less

My partner and I booked an 11-day cruise on the Celebrity Reflection on June 27, 2016. The Cruise was out of Rome. We spent 5 wonderful days in Rome. Since we were traveling with several bags, we like to make life easier and took the Celebrity transfers from the Rome Crown Plaza (city pick-up) to the Port (and return to airport) which is at least an hour from the city. This is the best money we spent. We then boarded the Reflection for our 33rd cruise. Embarkation was fast and easy. The Celebrity Representatives were courteous and efficient and we were onboard within 20 minutes. We went to our mid-ship balcony cabin on Deck 8 (Vista Deck) where we were greeted by steward, Bernard. He was wonderful throughout the entire cruise and took care of all of our requests. Our next stop was the Opus MDR to check on our table for dinner. We chose not to make reservations for dinner in the specialty restaurants, as we usually do, because the prices have gone up to $45PP, which we felt was a bit too high. Celebrity had several discount promotions, over the course of the cruise, as others obviously felt the same way. We had late seating in the Opus Dining Room (traditional dining), and our table was centered in a lovely area of the lower level. After lunch, we went back to our cabin and our luggage had already been delivered, so we unpacked and were set for the cruise. After Muster Drill, we met some of our fellow Cruise Critic members at the Mast Bar overlooking the pool for a Sail Away Party. We had a great turnout. The next day was a sea day and Celebrity hosted a party at the Lawn Club Grill for our Cruise Critic members (we had 103 members on this cruise). Seven Officers including the Captain attended. Dining Room/Buffet We were fortunate to have a nice table for 8 with Enrico as our Waiter and Milan our Assistant Waiter. They did an excellent job and were happy to bring you whatever you wanted. The food in the dining room was very good to excellent. They had Prime Rib, Medallions of Beef, Lobster Tails, Rack of Lamb, as well as fish and chicken dishes etc. Don't miss out on the Escargot and Wild Mushroom Soup. We had previously noticed that one of our favorite waiters that had been promoted to Maitre’D on another ship and was now the Food and Beverage Manager on the Reflection. His name is Srdjan Prastalo. He was so surprised to see us and we were so proud and happy to see him. He took wonderful care of us the entire trip. We saw him and all the other Officers many times during the trip. They were always visible and easily accessible to passengers. The crew appeared to be a very happy crew and it certainly showed. We also were introduced to the Hotel Director Niyazi Korkmaz. He was absolutely wonderful. We were at several Captain’s Club events with the Officers and it could not be nicer for passengers. We were pleasantly surprised when we (and three other couples) received an invitation from Niyazi to dine with him and the Captain’s Club Hostess Marlene, who by the way did a fabulous job. We had dinner at Tuscan Grill. The food was excellent and we highly recommend it. The service was fantastic. My partner had the Goat Cheese Souffle and I had the Lobster Fettucine. My partner then had the Filet Mignon and I had the Rib Steak both were beautifully prepared. We also had several side dishes, red and white wines and desserts. It was a magical evening. The buffet was generally good to very good. They had an abundant selection of various ethnic foods for all palates. They also had wonderful salads, pastas, stir-fry’s, etc… Pizza and burgers were very good and always available. A variety of ice cream and toppings were also available in the buffet area. Entertainment We only attended two shows in the Reflection Theater. The reason was that practically all of the shows were at 7:00PM (late seating passengers) and 9:00PM (early seating passengers). We personally prefer shows after dinner not before. We are on vacation and don’t wish to rush. We hope that Celebrity will go back to the old schedule of 7:30PM and 10:30PM for shows. Many passengers we spoke with felt the same way. This could be the reason the shows we saw had relatively small audiences. One show was with violinist Kateyna Sychova. She is amazingly talented and we really enjoyed her performance. The other was a production show, a long string of musical numbers taking place in a bar or saloon setting. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the show. We felt there was a lot of talent going to waste on a bad show. Many activities took place in the Grand Foyer with various entertainers throughout the day, etc. The Officers were very visible and mingling with guests, which says a lot about the tone set by Captain Apostolos Bouzakis. He was extremely personable and sets the stage for a happy crew with great morale. Bars/Disco/Casino There were several other venues for entertainment-- the Martini Bar is a great gathering place overlooking the Grand Foyer. Our favorite bar was the Sky Lounge when from 5:00PM to 7:00PM serves as the Elite Lounge. Our favorite bartender was Dario, a personable young man from Sicily. He did a wonderful job at the bar and at night in the disco. We also ran into another bartender we have been on several cruises with -- John from Columbia who also did an excellent job. At night, Sky Lounge becomes a Disco. DJ Arias was outstanding. He is creative and actively involved his guests. He selects music to fit the crowd unlike many DJ’s on other ships. At the Casino, Black Jack tables were busy and amount to play was $10 or more per hand. They also had Three Card Poker, Caribbean Stud, Let It Ride, Dice, etc. I felt Celebrity should have $5 tables on a ship, as Three Card Poker would become $30 a hand to play. Therefore, I did not play any table games this trip. My partner plays slots, which were all plain vanilla and not interesting or loose. An upgrade in slots would be appreciated. Cruise Stops/Excursions Santorini - We had been there a few years back, so we did not book an excursion. After the rush, we took the tender over and caught the funicular to the top. After exploring the town and shops, we stopped for a cold Mythos beer. It was just beautiful. Athens- This cruise initially was to stop in Istanbul, but because of the unrest, it was replaced with an overnight in Athens. We were in Athens several days last summer. We love the people, the food and the rich history of the city; excellent stop. We used their subway and bus system to get around. You can buy a multi- day ticket too. Mykonos- This was our day of rest. After a hearty breakfast on board, we took the shuttle bus to the edge of town, then the local bus to Elia Beach (clothing optional). After several relaxing hours, we returned to town and did some shopping. Kusadasi- This was our second trip to Ephesus and a must see. This time our excursion took us to the Terrace Houses where the wealthy citizens lived. This is one of the most fascinating places on Earth and dates back to 200 or 300 B.C. We were amazed that they had running water, public toilets, underground sewers, terra cotta pipes, lead nails (unfortunately), a two story library and a theatre seating 20,000. This can also be combined with a trip to the Virgin Mary’s final home which was lovely and a very religious experience for many. Bodrum- It is a lovely seaside resort with a beautiful castle. There is lots of shopping and restaurants. Some people from the ship booked yachts for the day. We would definitely like to return in the future as it was warm and inviting. Chania (Crete)- We took the city shuttle bus into Chania and had a beautiful lunch down by the waterfront. We also did some of our shopping here as, the prices were generally fair and the merchants friendly. Naples – We booked a tour to Pompeii which we had been to before, but continues to fascinate us. We absolutely recommend this as must see, but do it on a morning excursion, as it can get hot and crowded in the summer. Service The service overall was very good to excellent. There were some wonderful standouts on the ship, as noted above, and they were rewarded accordingly, beyond the daily automatic tips. Additionally, as my Partner had an unexpected medical issue onboard – Dr. Alberto Berrio and his staff were outstanding. They took care of my partner and monitored him during the trip. Miscellaneous Overall, it was a wonderful trip and we highly recommend the Celebrity Reflection. The layout of the ship is generally good though I would recommend being mid-ship as they only have 2 elevator banks. Trip Home We chose the Celebrity Transfer to the Rome Airport (as mentioned earlier) and all went smoothly. We look forward to a Caribbean cruise on Celebrity next Spring. Read Less

Wow! This is a gorgeous ship. Its very elegant, refined but relaxed at the same time. Really, really clean, people cleaning all the time. The staff were nearly all outstanding (there's always one or two who aren't but not everyone can have a good day everyday). The food in the MDR was good, ditto for the buffet. We ate in Qzine which was great, really inventively presented, amazing table right next to the window (nb if you aren't by the window you are sat very close to your neighbours if you only book a table for two). I loved the little touches like the fact they wait for you at port with iced face towels for when you get back from your excursions etc. The entertainment around the ship was perfect, there was always something going on and if it wasn't to our taste we could just wander to another bar/lounge and find something that was. We always managed to find a nice seat somewhere. We ended up booking a cruise on the sister ship, Solstice, while on board. Definitely recommend this ship. Great itinerary too, going to some places I had always wanted to visit. Read Less

This is a review of our recent wedding onboard Celebrity Reflection. Note: Weddings are booked for and paid for separately to your cruise booking, to a specialist weddings company "The Wedding Experience" That all the cruise lines use. After we booked our cruise date and deciding to get married we were directed to the specialist wedding planning company that organises weddings for the cruise lines. Initially i was very apprehensive as I'm a bit of a control freak and wasn't sure what was going on to begin with, the initial paperwork can be a bit daunting especially as in our case we were both divorcees, and everything has to be sent to USA and then onto MALTA for approval, which has to be timed perfectly as there are restrictions on time periods from the paperwork being approved to the actual marriage ceremony..... but once all that was done and confirmed the rest was a lot less complicated. You have a long list of things to choose from that they offer regarding weddings both at sea and ashore or in port before departures, which are all priced individually and they also have special packages for the most popular items, which is what we chose as there was only going to be the two of us, we went with the Nautical Nuptials marriage at sea by the Captain option and the witnesses were provided onboard for us. I have to say I was not particularly impressed with the wedding company because I had to continually chase them up for answers to questions i had and they are not very good at getting back to you in a very speedy manner, which all added to the nerves and stress, as what I didn't realise is that a lot of it i.e. hair, makeup etc can't be confirmed until you are actually onboard, so make sure you have a good idea what you want with regards to hair and makeup, if you have pictures even better as this will help the hairdresser and makeup staff. Everything to do with the wedding organisation onboard is done by the designated wedding co-ordinator onboard the ship and ours (Zsofia Bak) was absolutely amazing! and totally put my mind and fraying nerves at ease from the moment I met her and with less than 24hrs till our marriage! Everything went perfectly and the attention to detail was brilliant, from organising hair and makeup even getting someone to get me into my gown, she even timed my appointments so that my hubby to be, was out of the cabin so that he didn't see me before the ceremony, I had little charms that I wanted on my bouquet and these where incorporated into it. We booked the photographer via the wedding company but they said they were unable to offer a Videographer, so we spoke to celebrity direct and they advised us to contact the company that does all their photos and videos while onboard directly, which we did and we had our wedding videoed too, which we paid direct to the company, and it was a wonderful addition as none of our family were there to share our day, so we now have something to show them. We had our own music and I wanted to enter ceremony/venue too (Blu Restaurant) and Zsofia the wedding co-ordinator had timed my entrance to perfection.. I have to say that Celebrity Reflection, Zsofia, its Captain and its Staff could not do enough for us and made our day the most memorable day it could have been and one we will treasure forever! Special thanks have to go to Zsofia Bak our Wedding Coordinator onboard ship who was one of our witness to our marriage, she really is a credit to the Celebrity Cruise Company, and also a big thanks to the many behind the scenes staff, florist, makeup artist, hairstylists, musicians, photographers, videographer, and not forgetting our fellow passengers that made our day so amazing. :o) Read Less

Absolutely perfect cruise in every way, always cruised with other cruise companies but this is by far the best ever that we have done, food accommodation everything was perfect what a lovely beautiful ship. We had a mixed nationality on our cruise as it was a fly cruise and the best we have done so far. Our cabin was always spotless and replenished. The staff were spot on everywhere very welcoming and inviting, the restaurant check in guy was so pleasant and always gave people there preferred table options, we don't usually go to shows etc. we cruise for the relaxation mainly and this was the most relaxing we have ever had, we are now looking to book another celebrity solstice class cruise in September or October and we wont hesitate to recommend this particular ship to anyone. We met some nice people on board and everyone had a great time, the places we visited were fantastic and good shore times . Read Less

The cruise on Celebrity was our 3rd and we are always impressed with the level of service which is first class. We have both been in the hospitality industry for many years. The food was wonderful and the waiting skills of Batiz and Ever in the Opus Dining Room and the Sommelier, as well as the staff in the Porch Restaurant were extremely efficient, but friendly and courteous. "Mrs" was a qualified chef before retirement and ran her own company. We experienced immense care of all the passengers with such a friendly but reserved attitude. Our cabin was immaculate and nothing was too much trouble and we were welcomed back to it by our stateroom attendant with a real sense "welcome". The entertainment was superb and the shows were first class. We enjoyed the excursions but did find at times they were too much for "Mr" but this was not Celebrity's fault, On the contrary, they did all they could to make our trips enjoyable and possible. (please read next paragraph) My husband is disabled with walking difficulties although he is able to walk a few yards with difficulty. We were made to feel very special and all the Celebrity staff were not only courteous, but went out of their way to make him feel cared for and special, constantly aware that he might need help and providing it. However they never made him feel less capable than any other passengers. This is quite a difficult challenge for any carer, specially staff of a cruise ship, and their attitude was very appreciated. When we went ashore with his mobility scooter the staff would go down the ramp in front of him, steading his decent. When we arrived back at the ship they would quickly come down the ramp and push him up as the ramp was steep and his little scooter (which we needed to take because we were flying to Rome to board the ship) would struggle to cope. Thank you Celebrity for all the kindness you have shown to us both. We have booked our next cruise and although we will need to save very hard to afford it, we would not want to go on any other cruise line. We have been on 2 other cruise lines before trying Celebrity, but would not want to change from this amazing cruise line - once tried never altered. We are extremely pleased that we can sail from Southampton as we live in the New Forest and will not have to fly to get on board. We would only ask that Celebrity never use Easy Jet again as they caused immense difficulties for my husband and I, but Celebrity are well aware of the problems caused by this company. This happened, not only to us, but to many other of their passengers not only those travelling to join their Celebrity ship but to other passengers trying to travel to their holiday destination. Because of our traumatic flight to join the ship, one day late, we were unable to enjoy Rome (we had been there before) and we did not have an opportunity to look around Sicily which was one of the places we really wanted to see. However, this was not Celebrity Cruises fault and their did everything possible to put right the problems we experienced, including booking alternative flights to allow us to get to their first cruise destination. If it had not been for Celebrity we would have lost our cruise. Well done to all the staff especially Becky who did so much to help us with our emergency flights and other arrangements. Read Less

I was always looking to find some where on the ship map, there was also dancing in a walk through lobby the Martini Bar above the lobby seemed to be on a walk through area as well which when the dancing was on downstairs it was not all that pleasant to sit in as it was bursting to overflowing with people either trying to pass to get to somewhere else or look at the dancing below, although the Boys in the Martini Bar made up for any short comings the Martini Bar in the Celebrity Century was much better. The Food in the Buffet was good, but not in the Main Restaurant so we eat in the buffet most of the time, there needs to be a better set up at the egg and omelette stations as you had to cue for your order there was mass confusion also people looking to get a breakfast would first have to find somewhere to sit then look at getting drinks and then food a total shamozzle it was like a load of rats running here and there, what would work better is a similar thing to the dining room where you where allocated a table in a section where a waiter for that section could take your drink order then you could help yourself to the buffet which I think makes for a more relaxing pleasurable experience, Drinks Package I noted that on the upgrade to Premium I could get smoothies but the only time I could get one was from 7am to 10am or 12pm to 2pm in the Aqua Cafe so if I went to do a work out in the Gym at say 2.30 pm I could not get a protein smoothie this is very silly and a juice bar should be open all the time not everyone does their workout in the morning ! There was no bar service in the indoor pool area either and was told to go get myself one from the pool bar by one of the Aqua Cafe staff, this is not good customer service! Nearly all the people I spoke to who had been on a Celebrity Cruise before said the same thing this cruise was a step backwards and my friends who came with us as their first Celebrity Cruise said that they think Royal Caribbean was much better and wont bother to do another Celebrity Cruise, in my opinion this ship is too big the Celebrity Century was a better laid out ship smaller more intimate.a better flow of areas. as a rating I give this a 4 star no more than that I cannot fault the cleanliness or crew with the one exception in the Aqua Cafe just the ship was to big to flow. The ports where fantastic !! Read Less

It was supposed to be a way to conveniently see ancient sites. Unfortunately whomever planned the cruise itinerary ignored that fact that we would be in Mykonos on a Monday when Delos was closed and in Naples on the first Sunday of the month which meant admission was free. Ports of call: Messina: Leaving the port required walking through a gauntlet of individuals claiming to be taxi drivers. How do you know they're not pick pockets? I shouldn't have to plow through a bunch of aggressively rude, jostling cab drivers to get out of port. Toured Tourmina and it was nice but very crowded. Mykonos: As I have already mentioned, access to the Delos site was closed on Monday. Mykonos itself was lovely. Rhodes: I have nothing but great things to say about Rhodes. Kusadasi: Ephesus was great. Kusadasi was hard sell. Very exhausing. Santorini: Lovely. Crowded and expensive but lovely. Getting back on ship was a major SNAFU. The line for the return cable car was blocks long. This wasn't the ships fault. However, after finally getting to the pier it took over an hour to get onto the ship. There were double deck tenders stacked at the ship embarkation waiting on a single, that's right, single as in 1 operating security machine. Every other time I passed security on this ship there were 2 operating machines, especially when the people were trickling in. In the case where there was a massive rush hour we get a single security machine to exacerbate the situation. I thought the cruise line was supposed to make you feel special. They made me feel like they could give a crap about me. Athens: The published port of call itinerary: 6:00am - 6:00pm. Got up at 5am and was ready to leave the shipt to go see the sights at 6am. No, sorry, the port master never releases us until after 7am (actually got to leave at 7:20am. Why does the itinerary read 6:00am when everyone on the crew knows it won't be until 7:20am. Another one of those "they could give a crap about you" moments. Athens was great. Naples: I can't blame the cruise for the incompetence of the Pompeii tour company, only that placing me in Pompeii during "free day" where you could barely move, let alone see anything was not in my best interest. Naples was amazing and made up for the disaster at Pompeii. Onboard: We had the late dinner seating at 8:30pm. We sometimes thought we should eat something about 5 to 6 hours before so we wouldn't be so hungry but the cafeteria would close at 2:30 so we never had the opportunity. The ship is now being taken over by "specialty" restaurants and "reservable" sitting locations. They have repurposed Michaels Club where I used to go to get a good selection of beer and turned it into a restricted "members only." There were no places to just sit in a chair on the top deck. It nearly completely covered in lounge chairs. Totally oriented toward sun worshipers, of which I am not. Give me shade and a breeze and a chair. Service was outstanding with very few exceptions. The live music was great. Read Less
