We had never been on a cruise before and wanted to see a bit of the Mediterranean easier than booking trains. I booked a first time cruise with Celebrity Reflection as I'd researched they had large rooms on a newer ship. I' didn't know what to expect for a cruise, as I'd read come complaints about cabin sizes (from other cruise lines), but these must have been in regards to smaller ships or people used to big hotel suites, because we were extremely satisfied with our cabin. We booked concierge class, and it was very roomy, lots of place to store our stuff and luggage. The bathroom was a bonus as there were lots of storage compartments. The veranda was also super nice. The rooms must be very sound proof as we didn't hear any of the neighbors, or their toilets flushing or water running. We embarked early the first day and had the pool deck to ourselves. Of course it was super busy during the at sea days. The ship was super fantastic, as well as the staff. The one downsize though was the sale pitches daily for upgrades to dining services and/or beverage packages. We just used the main dining room and buffet area, which believe me was more than sufficient. I can't believe how much food is available during the cruise. And I really love the theme days based on the ports being visited. Our favourite foody day was when we visited Turkey. Our room attendant went out of his way to make us comfortable the entire trip. He was a big help. There was plenty of entertainment, although we only attended a couple of the bigger shows, and they were great. I wish they had some broadway type shows, but understand that is a lot of work to put together. We took advantage of some of the cruise excursions, but we did more ports as do-it-yourself tours, by researching ports ahead of time. To take advantage of Oia in Santorini, we booked the early cruise excursion, just to avoid the long lines at the trams. This worked great. We didn't even take the tram up, as our tender took us to a different location to hop on a waiting bus that drove us to Oia. Mind you the bus had to drive on crazy roads to go up the cliff, but the drivers are experienced. We did have to take the trams down, but I recommend the ship excursion to give you priority access off the ship. We booked our travel back to the Rome airport via the ship, and everything went smooth. Disembarkation was a breeze. I would totally recommend this cruise line/ship to anyone. I would love to travel with it again someday. Read Less

We had never tried a cruise before and now wonder why we waited so long. We have nothing negative to say, only praise, for the wonderful service, the amazing food, and for the many activities for guests to enjoy. We upgraded to a fine dining package, and then my husband booked another as we so enjoyed being made to feel like celebrities! All in all a fantastic experience. We will definitely book another . One thing I would say is the formal nights were not as formal as I imagined them to be, and a cocktail dress for the ladies and a lounge suit for the men is adequate. Read Less

it was my first cruise and i never thought i would love it that much. the staff is extremely friendly and always polite; says good morning and good afternoon all the time. What i was the more impressed of is the food, which deserves five stars! the continental buffet is always fresh and full of delicious food. About the celebrity dining room, the food is definitely to die for!!! see for yourself ;) As for the entertainment, the evening shows were really good, especially for the one celebrity equinox is famous for, called ''The Show''. I promise this one was almost as good as the Circus of the Sun. Absolutely incredible! Professional dancers are performing in front of you. WOW! (Celebrity Cruises are known for spending more money on food than on entertainment, as opposed to other cruise lines, which i think is a very good choice. To eat well on vacations is primordial to have a good experience. ) The staterooms were of a very good dimension as for the balcony. The only negative points for me were that we didn't know in advance that the drinks from the minibar of our staterooms were not included in our package. for example, water was included in my package, but if i take it directly from the minibar, they charge me. and many people got trapped and we ended up paying around 6 dollars per bottle we drank from there. The second and last negative point was the shore excursions. They are made for people who wants to see a lot of things in one day, by staying very shortly in every place. For that reason, at the end of the day of a shore excursion, i didn't have lots of souvenirs of what i visited because we had too short time and saw too much! The best part about vacation is to enjoy the little things and appreciate the country's atmosphere. For that, we have to see less. The days i went to visit on my own were the best! It took me 2 months or so before the cruise to organise these days. you have to be passionate about traveling like me;) (sorry for my bad english, it is not my first language). in conclusion, i hope you'll all have the chance to cruise with Celebrity, because of all the reasons possible:) Read Less

What more can I say than 'absolutely fabulous!' The memories we will take from our wonderful Eastern Med cruise on board the Celebrity Reflection will stay with us forever. The Entertainment for my husband and I was absolutely fantastic and our two teenage children (aged 14 and 18) were entertained the whole holiday. The food was exceptional, the staff were so friendly and efficient, the ship was beautiful and clean and the ports we went to were wonderful. I couldn't fault Celebrity and I think if anybody did find fault then they're just nit-picking and too hard to please. Well done Celebrity! we've even booked for the same cruise next year only a week after returning from this holiday. Thank you Read Less

We had an excellent cruise on the Celebrity Constellation from July 19 th to August 02 2015. The cruise started in Venice and the embarkation went very smooth (no more than 4 minutes from the time we arrived to the time we were on our room). The service was excellent throughout the entire cruise. Tha food was also excellent (they have a choise of beef, lamb, pork, chicken, Fish and vegetarian every night and also different every night in the dining room and in the cafeteria....)...All the shows were great with a different artist each night (4 big production shows dureing the cruise)....The excursions from the ship are very well organised and always on time with very good guides (it was very informative and well planned) and tou don't have the stress to come back in time on the ship......The tenders operations were very well organised and went smoothly. The itinary was Venice, Split, Dubrovnik, Athens, Santorini, Istanbul (overnight), Mykonos, Kusadasi and Rhodes and we enjoyed every port. Split, Dubrovnik, Santorini, Mykonos, Kusadasi and Rhodes are great city to walk around and it's very easy. Read Less

This was our fourth trip on this ship. We have never been disappointed with any of the experiences. The cabins were good, the food was good, the staff was wonderful!!! We ate in the café for breakfast and lunch and the dining room for dinner. There was always a terrific selection of food....way too much, but, hey, it is a cruise...you are supposed to eat like you've never seen food! The grand buffet in the dining room has been changed to a very lovely "international" buffet in the café. Honestly, except for the beautiful presentation of the grand buffet we enjoyed all the excellent food choices. We had a superior dinner in the Tuscan Grill. The waiter kept bringing us tastes of different foods....the short rib ravioli was the best. I have nothing at all bad to say about the ship and our experience. Good use was made of the indoor pool area so I could get away from the kids and the heavy sun. At the outdoor pool, it was crowded and there really could be no swimming due to the number of people, but, I met some very nice folks to chat with so it was ok. When I wanted to do laps, I went inside. The indoor pool is adults only, a real benefit!!!! My first stop on the first day of the cruise is always the library which is pretty well stocked with current reads. Staff will do almost anything needed to make a positive cruise for its guests. All that said, the weather was hot!!! July and August in Europe can get pretty hot. Fair warning for those intent on visiting the cities along the way. We often just walk around and splurge once for a car and driver to give us another option to the ships tours. Celebrity ROCKS!! Read Less

My daughter and are embarked on our very first cruise this spring on the Celebrity Constellation. We travelled from Nova Scotia Canada all the way to Venice, Italy, where we met our cruise ship. We were in Venice for a good part of 2 days; Dubrovnik, Croatia for 2 days; Kotor, Montenegro; Corfu Greece; Katakolon, Greece; Valletta, Malta and ended our cruise in Rome, Italy. We were in a balcony cabin 7018 which had "partial obstructions". These obstructions were simply the white bracing "posts" on each side - they hardly obstructed our view at all. We were very pleased with our cabin. We loved the Celebrity Constellation. Everyone on board was so very friendly and very quick to please. Captain Tasos had the most hilarious sense of humour. We enjoyed the "banter" back and forth with the cruise director, Mark, during the cruise. The entertainment directors, Shawna and Andreas were quite hilarious as well. We LOVED the Cafe el Bacio coffee shop; the relaxed atmosphere, great staff (Metin and Viktor) and live music at the Rendevouz lounge; the "games", etc hosted by the entertainment team; relaxing on the top pool deck; the Live Production Shows; the wonderful dishes to choose from every evening at dinner; great food at the breakfast buffet; Bistro on Five - banana nutella and mediterranean crepes were delicious! Celebrity did an excellent job at trying to keep everyone sanitized with hand sanitizer stations and "servers" to make sure most people sanitized before going into the eating areas and getting onboard the ship. The ice cold towels and drinks were very appreciated when arriving back on the ship each day after the very "hot" temperatures we experienced during our days in ports. We had the Classic Drink Package, and we had no troubles ordering most anything we wanted. Besides alcohol, it included fresh squeezed juices, basic bottled water, canned pop/soda, the fancy coffees at Cafe el Bacio and more. It was great value! The Live Production shows at the theater were just amazing! We loved the onboard cast of professional musician, dancers and aerialists. Absolutely excellent! We have very few negative comments - My main concern is all the paper that is wasted daily onboard. Every day in every cabin and on every menu, there are thousands of pages of paper printed and wasted. I realize they need to get out their "information", but in this day and age, I firmly believe it doesn't need to be by copying and printing on paper. How about they make the internet prices a lot more reasonable and get out the info that way? Or include the schedules on the TV each day like they have the seapass acct showing? -We would have liked to have seen the early dinner seating a bit later. It was very rushed most days to get ready and be at dinner by 6:15. 6:30-7 would have been quite a bit less rushed. -We liked relaxing in the Rendevouz lounge area after dinner and before the shows most evenings. We found they would have something there; then the entertainment would move up to Reflections lounge or somewhere else....and so on.... It would have been nice if they had kept something going on at each venue, so the people that stayed in one place for a while would continuously have something to watch or listen to. Like I said, we have very few complaints or concerns - we loved our trip on the Celebrity Constellation and will most likely watch for another cruise on her again in the future - Well done, Celebrity! It's fun to read the reviews of the same cruise to see how differently others see the same journey! We truly enjoyed the ship and itinerary, made all the better by the welcoming Captain, officers and crew. Having joined the Meet and Greet, we realized the incredible connection Celebrity has with CruiseCritic. On the Equinox last December we had a group of around 100 with a handful of crew. This time with about a third of that size, the first person who greeted me was the Captain followed by leading officers and the Cruise Director...almost as many as guests! We also suspect that this CC list inspired our invitation to sailaway on the Helipad from Athens to meet again with a glass of champagne in hand...nice touch and way to end a great port day! * Embarkation: From Hotel Traghetto (pretty Spartan but worked for the price and location and made all the better by the fabulous pizza place next door!YUM!) we crossed the street to the shuttle and after some mild confusion (who cares! we were there early and we knew we'd be aboard soon and painlessly), we boarded and lunched til our rooms were ready by 1pm. Our ride in from Rome was worth every penny of the shared shuttle coast of Bob's Limo. Door to door service in a Mercedes Benz and only the two of us for 67Euros. They'd done the same from the airport too...shared but only two of us for 37E!! We ended our cruise with four people sharing for 105Euros and the driver spared us the agony of going to the wrong terminal... he knew better than the airline, misdirecting us through online check in! * Food: I've never enjoyed the buffet more! Good food: Indian food had better spicing than the Equinox's bland offering, and the theme nights were great! Nothing like eating a well executed Turkish buffet of delights while sitting in the aft watching the ferries on the Bosphorus Straits and hearing the call to prayer as the lights of the mosques came on...and sailing away on the aft from Santorini with a Greek buffet..well done and bonus! Otherwise we ate in the Main Dining Room. I think Select Dining is not working well... if you tried to reserve, the tables were gone well before 10am in the morning and though the buzzer system works well to bring you back from the bar when a table is finally ready, it loses that dining anytime idea. If people want reservations, combine it with the set seating times and let everyone just walk in as they come to the "select" floor. * Excursions: Tip - I like the review format which I've copied of a fellow passenger in this forum and agree with him that "if you are in a port that has a tender, then sign up for a Celebrity-sponsored excursion. You'll be the first off the ship; our friends did their own and ended up waiting 2.5 hrs to get off the boat." We did that in Santorini for the ride to the vineyard and Oia which give you the most splendid views.. not overly priced and worth it. Otherwise, a shipmate on our RollCall booked some great private tours for us except for Mykonos which is easy to wander alone and from Naples we took the ship's tour to Sorrento for an easier day...that wasn't incredible we needed a low key day. * Room: At home in the Celebrity verandah rooms and well designed bathrooms and shower. LOVED our location on the hump for the ease of elevators...absolutely no noise except for the port smokers below... we'll book starboard from now on. Contrary to one reviewer, I thought generally port side had the best views?? if I was missing anything... I didn't :) * Ship: Solstice ships are the best! No motion whatsoever. I think the Martini Bar and its fine entertainment as gathering spot should be twice to three times it's size! On both ships, this was the place to be nightly! EXCELLENT DJ combo who rocked the place. Contrary to the SkyLounge, though smaller and cozier on this ship, it was underutilized and we never stayed longer than a stroll through when it seemed never in use....what a waste of an incredible view. They could take a few tips from the Explorer lounges on HAL and put the library in here so people could read, play chess and meditate at the awesome views from the panoramic windows. * Service: The most genuine greetings we'd ever seen from most everyone on the ship! Washrooms spotless. Cheery buffet and dining service. It didn't seem phony. * Entertainment: I enjoyed the Art Studio and was very disappointed to hear they were getting rid of that after December as it was a good idea. So nice and relaxing to chat with others as you paint and have a souvenir to keep. Not a fan of art auctions and not enough trivia at the times we seemed to be around the ship. I don't enjoy the dance shows in the theatre so it's hit and miss...and I missed a couple of the better shows I think this time from Les Miz but the comedian Steven Stevens (?) was fun. Love Freddy Mercury but didn't like the impersonator. Much more fun to watch the antics in the Martini Bar with the DJ couple and enjoyed the Alice in Wonderland event on the mini dance floor. OH! and not to forget the fantastic port lectures...no, not the ones where you are told what shops to go to ... an actually interesting historical, factual chat with a charmingly, funny gentleman...most enjoyable...sorry I didn't get his name. * Overall: The only negatives were the port side noise, the misinformation on traveller's cheques (separate post) and that we were asked when we'd like to celebrate our 25th anniversary on board but nothing every happened... oh well.. forgiven and forgotten and didn't spoil the memories. We'd love to repeat this cruise but have so many more areas to visit and so little time and money to do them all but strongly recommend this as a terrific family cruise for beauty, history, beach and shopping... something for everyone. Our cruise on the Celebrity Equinox was outstanding. Their staff seemed to know what we needed before we did, and were always helpful. The stateroom was great -- very clean, good bed, nice amenities -- and our room steward was on top of things in every way. It was great to have room service for breakfast: it arrived right at the time we wanted and the food was hot (or cold, whichever it needed to be). The food in the various dining rooms-- well, let's just say I had to restrain myself or I'd have doubled my weight. It was all delicious: we had only super meals, not one bad experience. I was impressed with the security precautions: made me feel very safe. And there were Purell stands or a staff member with Purell just about everywhere. That, too, increased my comfort level. Entertainment in the main theater was generally top notch, and they had some sort of entertainment going on in various locations all the time. Loved the little touches like the cold towel and cups of water as one got back on the ship after an excursion. Their excursions were reasonably priced and well done. My only complaint: no free WiFi. One had to sign up for a package, or pay by the minute. With all the other luxury touches, this seemed to be a bit penny-pinching. Charge everyone $50 more for their stateroom and apply that to offering free WiFi. WE've already signed up for a cruise next year. Read Less

We enjoyed the flexibility of dining each evening when we wanted and ate with others so there was never a wait for a table. The entertainment was very good. Ate for 2 nights in the extra pay dining rooms and didn't think it was worth the extra cost. Booked all of our tours off the boat through the Internet and we were never disappointed--lower cost and much smaller groups. We recently returned from a fabulous 10 night cruise aboard the Celebrity Equinox leaving Barcelona heading for Rome. Boarding was a breeze as always in Barcelona, we were aboard by 11am with a leisurely wander around the ship, lunch at the Bistro on Five followed by cabin availability by 1pm. We immediately purchased the Ultimate Dining Package still $29pp/day which for us is excellent value, the only disappointment was the added 10% VAT called Spanish Tax which is non-refundable for us Brits. Weather conditions were generally excellent throughout the holiday, calm seas made for pleasant cruising conditions and deck sun loungers were always full with a few reserving sun and shade chairs, as normal. The drink service was excellent even though many had the free beverage package, we upgraded as the selection of wines on the classic was terribly poor. The cruise itinerary was port intensive with only one sea day, travelling to mainland France and Italy, Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily. The Med islands were our first visit and we really enjoyed Sicily so much so we intend a land based holiday there next year. It is a shame that many of the ports were industrial or Naval dockyards that made me wonder if I was really on holiday. The port of Toulon was listed as our destination but we docked at the Naval Dockyard and Celebrity had the cheek to charge $46 to ferry passengers the 10kms. to Toulon. We declined their enticing offer and choose to enjoy the sunshine on board. The following day and overnight we were moored off Cannes, I thought at one time Celebrity were going to charge for their Tender but this time it was free, or should I say complimentary. Celebrity's high cost excursion to the Raddison Blu was a disaster for the film festival leaving many to complain. We took 3 excursion arranged via CC Roll Call, all were excellent - www.tuscanytastetours.com - tour of the Cinqueterre from Livorno www.visitsicilywithmario.com - tour to Castelmola and Taormina from Messina www.aldolimos.com - tour to Herculaneum and the Amalfi coast from Salerno A special thank you to Aldo for arranging our lunch at La Tagliata overlooking the Bay of Salerno above Positano, a day never to be forgotten. We really enjoyed the service and superb food alternating between Murano and Tuscan each evening and when aboard had lunch at the Bistro, we never used the Oceanview or MDR during the whole cruise. We enjoyed the improvements made to the Bistro Menu with daily specials, fabulous homemade beefburgers and the shrimp salad. The entertainment has never been a strong point for Celebrity so we never build up our hopes, we seldomly visit the nightly shows. On this cruise we did visit the theatre on two occasions and would say that the Celebrity show performers were the worst ever but one evening an entertainer from the London west end performed Bring Him Home from Les Mis, which brought tears to my eyes. He was so good he had a rapturous ovation from everyone, absolutely superb. Our cabin, a standard 1C balcony deck 8, near the aft elevators was ideal always kept clean and tidy by the stewards. Fortunately the weather was always kind for our evening drinks on the balcony with just short trips to replenish at the Ensemble Lounge bar. Celebrity S Class ships are without doubt our favourite and as always the service and attentiveness was superb although cruising the med 's industrial ports is so uninviting. We intend to revert back to cruising our favourite, the Caribbean aboard the Eclipse next winter. Thank you Celebrity - a fabulous cruise once again. Read Less

Although it has been some time since our cruise, I must write a critique of our trip. I have been reading other reviews of this cruise and cannot believe I was on the same ship or cruise. Right from the time we left Civitavecchia our holiday was wonderful. We have traveled with Celebrity before on Solstice and Reflection and enjoyed them very much I think Constellation is our favourite. We were greeted as usual with smiles and chapagne, then after a buffet lunch went to our cabin on Deck 7 where we were greeted by Joecey our steward who looked after us as if we were family for the back to back cruised we did. The cabin was big enough for us as was the fairly big shower. It was kept in immaculate condition but we had to ask for no more chocolates as we did not need more food after such a good dinner. Although it was a port intensive cruise with very few sea days we were able to get some down time which at our age 70 is needed. We enjoyed the ports and although some were better than others that is to be expected. The dining room was welcoming as was our waiter, assistant waiter and wine waiter. As we had a beverage package, she soon got to know our preference and suggested some good wines. The food was acceptable and nicely served with a smile. The maitre'd was also friendly and attended to any thoughts we had. He even arranged for us with some other diners to have some mussels cook specially which we all ate with relish. This was done again on our next cruise as we did a back to back. We were encouraged to try the specialty dining rooms where we were treated very well and the food was delicious. As we had the beverage package we were able to use it to try different wines at the suggestion of our wine waiter. We just loved them. The shows were of a high standard and we did not miss one. Some we preferred more than others but that is to be expected. The drinks lounge was very comfortable and the music was too loud so one could carry on a conversation with the nice people we met. Waiters were very attentive and soon got to know which drinks we preferred. The coffee bar was a great place to enjoy a good coffee,( I don't know why ships cannot make decent coffee!), both after breakfast and a special one before bedtime. Theses waiters also soon got to know our favourites. I do not know where the company get their crew but we did appreciate them and were pleased to see that some although were not young did their job just as well. All in all praise to the ship, Captain, Officers and Crew. We will sail with you again. Read Less

My husband and I have been on about 14 cruises now and I would rate Celebrity as one of the best. We went on Constellation as it was going to be in Anzac Cove on Anzac Day. Even though this is an American ship, staff and crew went out of their way to make the cruise memorable and enjoyable for the many Australians and New Zealanders on board. From the service to the food to the activities, all was 1st class. I have never cruised with Celebrity before, but I will certainly cruise with them again. We're on the Celebrity Infinity right now. Just pulling into Vigo where I will post this. We're in Aqua class, eating in Blu. Those of you concerned about the quality of the ship, shouldn't be. The ship is fine, with constant maintenance. The staff are consistently helpfull and friendly. The food is excellent with only a few exceptions. We were offered half price dining in SS United States, the first night as well as mid cruise. We've had free shuttles in Bilbao, and La Rochelle. The wifi on board is terrible. So we stop for coffee in each port and use the free wifi of a cafe. The weather has been cool and overcast with occasional light rain. The Bay of Biscaye was so rocky last night that the closet doors and drawers were opening and slamming shut all night. It was impossible to sleep. We should have brought duct tape. Just back from a wonderful Celebrity Mediterranean cruise!! I must say after reading some reviews I was apprehensive, as I had never sailed Celebrity. The entire cruise was amazing!! Equinox is a great ship-- very clean--very friendly--very fun--and DELICIOUS food!! We took a tour the morning we landed in Barcelona. Bus picked us up at the airport 10:30am and drove us to the sites of Barcelona letting us off to enjoy then proceeding to the next stop. We were then dropped off at the ship around 2:30. A taxi ride alone from the airport to the ship costs $38 euros so the tour was a great value. Of course by 2:30 we just walked onto the ship no lines what so ever. We had time to have lunch and explore the ship. I must tell you we did book aqua class and loved it!! The room was perfect but the shower with 5 extra sprays was wonderful. Yes, there was fruit, bottled water and a bottle of wine waiting for us in our room. In fact everyday we had bottled water and fruit waiting in our room. Aqua class greatest perk is "Blu" ! The food and service was outstanding but dining in "Blu" is like dining at a small intimate restaurant. The all window front wall views are great, noise level is what you expect at a upscale restaurant along with soft background music. You are able to order anything from Blu's menu as well as the main dining room menu. It was like going to a specialty restaurant every night. You may also dine @ "Blu" for breakfast but we chose to go to the buffet. I must comment on Equinox bread-and pizza---The best and most varied kinds we have ever had on any cruise ship!! We did take ship excursions and felt they were well done and in line as far as price went with other tour companies. We did Santorini (my favorite!!) Mykonos and Malta ourselves very easily--but took cruise tours Rome-Sorrento---Ephesus (and Blessed Mother's House -again my favorite!!) and Athens. Just a few wish I knew notes:# 1 there is a duty free shop just before enter ship in Barcelona to buy your allotted bottle of wine per person #2 I know you have seen this before but truly do not over pack--sea days are bathing suits anyways #3 Sushi is @ the buffet every night 6-9pm so if you want as appetizer in your room it is perfect! #4 Majorica pearls are more reasonable in Barcelona airport than on the ship!! #5 brunch day has the biggest bowl of fresh blackberries I have ever seen--any other day the berries were previously frozen #6 at the ice cream stand you can ask for M&M's(and other such candy toppings ) on the side to have latter. You make your cruise FUN--I am convinced you can not please everyone but Celebrity gets it right 99% of the time!!! So you know no matter what you may read on this site YOU have the power to make your own memories and Your own PERFECT CRUISE!!!!--ENJOY!!!! Read Less

We may be cruise virgins but we're not wet behind the ears. Our review is from a British perspective which we think is relevant. Flew with Monarch airlines. Celebrity have a block booking with this airline but you can contact them separately and order extra leg room and 3kgs each on top of luggage allowance at extra cost although 20kgs in suitcase and 10kgs in hand luggage was plenty. Meet and greet throughout was first class and everything went smoothly. Checking in at Barcelona was a logistical masterpiece for celebrity. We chose Celebrity for a special occasion, locations we would be visiting and value for money offered. The concierge extras didn't seem worth the money though as the only real benefit was the select dining enabling sitting when we wanted and not stuck with others. As non alcohol drinkers were disappointed with arrival drinks being only alcohol and waiter not very attentive but in every respect staff were the best we've ever come across. Our own service industry could learn a thing or two for sure. Well worth having gratuity package as without it you'll be charged 15% on every drink even with drink package paid for. We had the classic nine alcoholic package which again was well worth the money. Room attendant was excellent and seemed that every time we went out he came in and tidied up. Food outstanding and didn't seem worth paying more for speciality dining. We even preferred what others might have referred to as the 'cafeteria'. Dietary requirements were all well met (and we have a few) and just about every cuisine provided including Sushi, Indian, Italian, Salads etc etc. Up selling of those packages and everything else was a bit full on right from the start. A bit off putting really as you'll be invited to every sale and art auction going. Culturally the Brits aren't really in to this level of sales. Sales on board needed careful consideration. Most items can be bought ashore or on eBay much cheaper. Especially Bella & Rose products. Not worth getting involved in the pushing and shoving that will accompany this experience. Tremendous range of activities and in 99% of cases could not fault our holiday. Biggest down side was excursions. These did not represent value for money and same as everywhere else at 3 x the cost. Athens was best example; X80 bus cost €4 each for all day travel card. Just outside terminal and dropped off at Acroplis. €12 each into Acropolis for access all areas. Short walk to temple of Zeus and Hadrians arch, through old town to parliament square, watch changing of the guards and back again for grand total of €32. Compared with celebrity cost of $120 which didn't even get you in to Acropolis or have time shopping. Port lecturer and excursion staff only keen to promote their own products and gave no assistance if you want to go alone. Trevi fountain in Rome is scaffolded and without water until 2016?? St. Peter's was crowded and didn't even get in after 1 1/2 hrs waiting. Dragged away from lines for commission based shopping? Evening entertainment was great but cheesy house crew and have to suffer the different cultural humour to be catered for. But when all said and done we had a brilliant time and will book with Celebrity again. Highly recommend this tour. Read Less

Have to say that this was a fantastic experience after much reviewing of other reviews..then making a final choice! We travelled to Manchester from Scotland where we flew on to Barcelona to meet the ship. The transitions were well done and we were soon aboard and in our accommodation which was an inside cabin of a good size and very nice indeed. Breakfasts were always taken in the Ocean View cafe and were excellent with lots of choice and excellent choice .In the evening we tended to use the Silhouette dining room where we had any time dining and sometimes ate as a couple or in a group if thats what we wanted that particular night. We did not have a drinks package as felt they were on the pricey side. We went to the theatre every night and thought the shows very good indeed with lots of variety and Paul the Cruise Director a fantastic host ....a credit to Celebrity. After the theatre tended to have a coffee or drink and a little dance or walk around the shops, or a BRIEF Casino visit before retiring to our cosy bed!! We tended to do our own thing on the excursions , with the only hiccup being in Dubrovnik where we found ourselves being a bit behind schedule after walking the wall and finding massive queues for the buses....be warned !! The ports of call were great...with the highlights for us being Kotor , Venice in particular (as they might stop ships going so close in the future),, and Dubrovnik. All the staff were very pleasant from the stateroom attendants to the Cruise director and they gave us a holiday to remember. Will we going again ----my wife says YES...and so do I   Read Less

We arrived in Barcelona three days ahead of sailing and stayed at the beautiful boutique hotel, the Royal Ramblas. It’s located in the heart of the city on the Las Ramblas. It was perfect in every way. On embarkation day, we checked out of our hotel at noon, grabbed a taxi at the door, and 15 minutes later were at the docks. Embarkation could not have been any quicker or smoother and by 12:45 we were sitting in the Oceanview cafe having a great lunch. As soon as we finished eating we headed to our room (#8251, which we have stayed in previously in 2012) and started unpacking our carry on luggage and the rest of our luggage arrived within an hour. Clive, our room steward, was very polite and friendly, always inquiring about our needs. The ports of call on this cruise were wonderful, something I will review separately. We ate twice in one of their speciality restaurants, the Tuscan Grill. Personally, I think that this restaurant is one of the best anywhere. Both food and service are excellent, let alone the views at night are worth the extra $’s. We always choose ‘Select Dining’ and ate most nights in the main dining room. There was something different this time in the dining room and a month later, I still can’t put my finger on it. The food was ‘good’, certainly not as good as in the past, but the service was always impeccable! All the public facilities that we used were immaculate. The first week we spent so much time off the ship and were really too tired to enjoy anything but Café al Bacio in the evening, sitting listening to some really great music. We went to a few shows during the 2nd week, an English ventriloquist who was on ‘England’s Got Talent’, as well as American comedian, Rondell Sheridan , both were hilarious… The Equinox Production staff did an amazing job of their European style circus production. We totally lucked on with the weather, nothing that Celebrity can be responsible for, with two perfect weeks of weather. Just being able to have breakfast outside on the Oceanview Deck in October was worth the trip. This being our fourth cruise with Celebrity, I do have a few issues (or quirks) with Celebrity itself. First, I really do find that the dress code is becoming a little too relaxed in the dining room. This isn’t the ‘Norwegian’ or ‘Carnival’ cruise lines and they do offer other alternatives, for those who don’t want to dress for dinner. I was really shocked to see someone wearing jeans in the ‘Tuscan Grill’. I also felt in some way, that this time we were really being ‘nickled and dimed’. Not really being drinkers, we usually like to have a bottle of sparkling water with dinner. We both had the ‘Classic Beverage’ package, which you can have beer, wine, and alcohol. Can you imagine, Pellegrino (sparking water) is not covered and we had to pay for a bottle each night, even after I explained that it was financially beneficial to Celebrity to have us drinking water over wine… they wanted us to upgrade our drink package for $10/pp/pd … when the bottle at night was only $5.18! Also, only being told the night before that we were to arrive in Marseille that there will be 6 other cruise ships arriving the next morning and that for those who had not booked a ‘Shore Excursion’, getting into town could prove to be a problem, unless we went with their $25/pp ‘scenic boat cruise’ transfer to Marseille. Overall it was a cruise of a lifetime, with great staff, amazing weather, surrounded with wonderful fellow cruisers this time around! And that my friend… is priceless!   Read Less

Arrived in Barcelona from Australia two nights before the cruise. Enjoyed Barcelona and have to say it is a great city. Organised private transfers and shore excursions for our party of 6 from Australia and they all worked a treat. Certainly takes the hassle out of the trip. The Equinox is a lovely ship and having been on the Solstice previously we knew what to expect and were not disappointed. The ship is well maintained in all areas. Service outstanding. The food, no matter where we had it, was excellent. We purchased the premium drinks package and 3 specialty dinner package and all of this just added to the experience. The Mediterranean cruise is certainly full on with only 3 sea days but we were well aware of that and enjoyed it. Our sunset verandah rooms were great. On deck 6 they provide great access to the remainder of the ship and the verandah is very spacious. We have had sunset verandah rooms before and I can't imagine going backwards on future cruises! The room had plenty of space and the bed was comfortable. I'm 6.4 so it's not ideal but certainly nothing to complain about. We can thoroughly recommend Celebrity, this cruise and this ship. Sailed on the beautiful Celebrity Silhouette (again)! We loved the ship and even more, the friendly, courteous staff. The meals were wonderful as was the Captain's Club amenities. We were apprehensive about going to Israel with all the turmoil but managed a wonderful three days. We heard some people did not get to Jerusalem or Bethlehem but we were fortunate and spent two and half wonderful days there exploring places where Jesus actually walked over 2000 years ago. Our only complaint was that after final payment, Celebrity Cruises dropped the prices drastically on this particular cruise, October 18th sailing, and did NOT contact the already booked, loyal clients, that booked long before this time to see if any wished upgrades for the reduced price. We for one, we never book a year in advance again. We must commend Celebrity though, for giving us a nice upgrade in 'guarantee'. We also stayed on the ship for November 1st sailing to Fort Lauderdale and enjoyed the same wonderful treatment. Once again the trip was amazing as were the ship and staff on Silhouette. I have only cruised twice before. Once on the Princess line and once on Royal Caribbean. There are so many things to love about this ship, the grandeur of it, open spaces however a few puzzling things we noted were the wasted space on the top deck with the lawn club and alcoves for rent. They were mostly empty and we were disappointed in the size of the sunset bar as it was a popular bar for sailaways and sunsets. I don't understand why they would have so much space devoted to that. Also wonderful bars and areas but the Sky Lounge Observation Room is closed most evenings to captains club members. We ended up getting an elite card and being able to attend but felt it unfair to most to not enjoy this gorgeous lounge for the view. We went to 3 specialty restaurants, Qsine (ok, wouldn't return) Tuscan Grille (our favourite, outstanding) and Murano. Also very good. The main dining area was great and we chose select dining. Not sure I would choose that again as the poor staff were constantly rushing and having to deal with a lot of tables at once. It seemed more hectic than traditional. We had the opportunity of dining at the captains table the first formal night and it was magnificent. What a treat and really interesting to chat with him. Our cabin was a category 2B balcony and it was great. Lots of space, bigger than average bathroom and the stateroom attendant was outstanding. The cruise director Josh was great, performances 5 stars plus. Overall a great value for your money. Can't comment on the excursions as booked all privately. Would highly recommend but will try another Celebrity type ship next time. Read Less

After a terrible Pacific cruise on Celebrity Century in March, I was very concerned about our Sept cruise on the Constellation but stayed with it due to the fabulous itinerary. I am delighted (and relieved) to say that everything that had been why we sailed with Celebrity was present on the Constellation--good food, great service, clean and well maintained ship and generally sophisticated atmosphere. We had sailed on Constellation previously and this trip was even better than the first due to much lower key sales efforts. The port "specialists" were typically poor with the focus on scaring passengers into taking only their excursions and directing folks to the stores that rebate back to the boat but that is standard practice so no real surprises there. We were elite passengers for the first time on this cruise and all the benefits were wonderful. Internet was miserably slow--worse than ever before. There are many more users now and no increase in capacity. We went through 180 minutes to send and receive at most 40 emails over a 14 day period--no web browsing at all. We're looking for an alternative for sure. All in all, it was a fabulous trip. Read Less
