We wanted a quick little get away, we love to cruise and have been for many years. We took a 7 day Celebrity cruise about six years ago and thought it was wonderful. We hoped this would be the same due to the companies reputation but could not be more disappointed. We took an Aqua Class Stateroom with balcony which was small and cramped especially the bathroom, whenever you took a shower the whole bath floor got wet! The ship was allegedly updated not long ago, don't know what they updated but they probably need to go back to the drawing board. The a/c barely kept our room comfortable, the TV didn't work most of the time, the water coming out of our of the faucet and shower was dark rust colored at times! We tried to get a glass of wine at one of the bars, the bartender moved toward us, told my wife to have a nice day and then left! What great service! With a Classic drink package and trip insurance this was a $1,200.00 two night cruise. Not cheap at all for a small cramped room, lousy service and rust colored water. We could have gone on a three night with another Cruise line for nearly 1/2 that price! Again we went with Celebrity for their reputation. We also were constantly being solicited to try one of the private, pay for what you eat on board restaurants. We didn't come on the cruise to be constantly solicited, we came to relax. The only saving grace on this cruise was having the Aqua Class private dining room. We did have a great ocean view, the food was great and our waiter Hendar was fantastic! If not for the private restaurant and great staff this would have been a total loss. For me the bottom line is save your money, go on a different cruise line or just stay home. You will be much happier, we wish we never went. Celebrity has lost our business. We will be on a competitor from now on. Read Less

We are Diamond cruisers on Royal Caribbean. Therefore we were able to join Celebrity as Elite Captain Club members. So we wanted to try Celebrity to see how it compares to Royal Caribbean. We were extremely disappointed. The Celebrity Infinity has the potential to be a beautiful ship. Unfortunately it has not been properly maintained since it was launched in 2001. The ship looked drab and it never smelled fresh. The service in the dining room was the worst we have ever experienced, partly because there were not enough waiters to properly serve the guests. The food was bland, the selection was limited, especially the breads, and dinner took almost two hours every night - a real endurance contest. The buffet options were dismal - don't even think about eating any breads, pastries or donuts. We experienced raw sewer smells in our cabin on three nights which woke us from a deep sleep. Our cabin steward was one of the nicest stewards we have encountered. Our cabin was very nice, though dated and in dire need of a refurbish. We will not cruise on Celebrity again. Read Less

We were expecting to visit the Antarctica and to see the wildlife in Puerto Madryn and in Port Stanley on this cruise. Though we visited (cruised by but not actually stop at) Paradise bay and Elephant island in Antartica, we were completely shut out of experiencing visit with wildlife such as the Penguins due to technical issues with the ship's propulsion system, speed reduction, poor planning and poor weather. The management of the Cruise ship certainly had enough advance information, based on past experience, on the expected weather on probability of making anticipated ports of call at Puerto Madryn and Port Stanley. With advance information on the Ship's propulsion system they decided to travel slow and cancelled Puerto Madryn. They could have kept alive the option to visit Puerto Madryn, in the event Port Stanley had to be cancelled due to severe weather. While we do not fault them for not accepting the weather risk at Falkland Islands, we do fault them for poor trip planning having cancelled Puerto Madryn at the outset to compensate for the slow speed of travel due to propulsion problem. This made for a long 10 day sea voyage ( out of total 14 days) from Ushuaia to Montevideo resulting in monotonous boring Cruise experience. Since we only had very few options available to see Antarctica & Penguins, we felt victimized by Celebrity Cruises ruining our once in a lifetime vacation. Dining and entertainment activities were average to better than average. There was too much selling activities T shirts, jewelry, watches, paintings, future cruises, photography, etc. Staff was very good in most food and drink areas, except at customer service where staff was not helpful. Very defensive not attempting to address customer complaints or concerns. Read Less

We bought our tickets in November but most of the other passengers bought theirs far earlier than us. However Celebrity failed to let us know the ship was only sailing with one propeller which slowed down its performance so much that we arrived in Ushuaia seven hours after the scheduled time. All tours were rushed and by the time we finished the tour all shops and museums were closed for the day. It was our intention to visit this far away place thoroughly and experience the life here. Then we were supposed to circle Cape Horn, but the ship just went a little north then turned around. When we got to Elephant Bay the ship was not able to get close to the shore because it did not have enough force. We did not stop in Port Stanley because of the weather and our next stop, Port Madryn, was canceled. We were on board for 12 days out of the 14-day cruise. This ship was working with only one propeller for a long time. Celebrity was well aware of this problem yet it chose not to disclose it so as not give the passengers the right to cancel the trip without penalties. It is still sailing north and back to Antartica without any plans to stop to fix the problem. Read Less

This is the third time we have cruised with Celebrity. The first and second time the experience has been perfect, really perfect. Not a single complaint or issue. Hence we booked this cruise. On reflection, a mistake. I would urge you to take a look at the photographs as part of this review. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. First off, as soon as we got on board, the first impression was a tired, old ship. We sat down at a table for lunch; it had a large crack, right across it. Worst of all was the cabin… soon as we walked in, we noticed that the bedding had holes in it! We then noticed that the bed skirt was grubby…. Not looking good. So we then pulled the duvet out of the cover and were DISGUSTED at the condition of it, with yellow and brown stains. The toilet had a black ring around the top of the water line. The bathroom mirror along the bottom was badly marked Of course we complained, and all bedding was changed immediately, but it sets the cruise off to a bad start. On the night, the cabin was FREEZING, seems the thermostat was faulty… again this was changed, but on the second night, it was still cold in there… it was adjusted by the engineer again. We had several sleepless nights due to the fact the rubber seal on the door was defective, and caused a whistling sound and a draft. Service in the restaurant was not up to the standard we had experienced on the two previous cruises, and I didn’t feel the food was as good. Embarkation was a shambles... we stood for 2 hours! All in all, not a good cruise, fortunately Alaska and great weather was the only good points. Of course Celebrity have admitted it was poor, and offered us money off the next cruise, if we go with them, but I have lost faith now that Celebrity can meet our expectation in the future. Read Less

we feel absolutely cheated out of our holiday money. We are battling farmers who have saved our money for what was to be the holiday of our lifetime. Firstly, there was an 18% service charge on everything we bought, then there was a place on the invoice for a tip. A few times it was underlined. A cheap bottle of wine we bought in a supermarket in Santiago for $4.50 was on the menu for $35 + 18% etc. They X rayed your bag if you'd been ashore checking that you hadn't bought any alcohol with you. We paid gratuities in package purchase price in Australia, but when aboard, they charged again. When my wife inquired at the information desk she was told that was only for the room boy. Everywhere we went someone was trying to sell us something. It wasn't only us that felt cheated either. There was not even a picture theatre on board, instead you had to sit in the bough of the ship in the open air. The free shows were all second rate. There was a poor old fellow who gave seminars on various topics, he was good, but we got the feeling he was only paid by a free trip. If this is what cruise ship holidays are about, count us out on any more. Last holiday was on a Trafalgar bus tour around Eastern Europe. That was much better value. I wouldn't advise anyone to cruise Celebrity! Read Less

We flew into San Francisco one day prior to the cruise and stayed at the Tuscan Inn. The Inn is located at the Wharf, just steps from the cable cars, Ghirardelli Square, etc. A very quaint hotel, clean and extremely well priced. Cafe Pescatore next door was really good, atmosphere, espresso and good food were welcome after walking all day. Unfortunately the panhandling in the city was a huge negative. I was born in S.F. and raised just down the bay. I hadn't been home for years and was terribly saddened to see the filth and begging to the degree we experienced. Other cruise passenger's concurred on the begging to the degree that it spoiled a great old city. We boarded the Infinity the following day to a champagne welcome. That was the last real hospitality we received. Our room had plenty of drawer space. However the bathroom was shameful. The white grouted tiles were black on the bathroom floor and the shower. The shower head was grimy, greasy black. The Shower curtain was always sticking to you - yuch. No magnifying mirror, horrible hairdryer that burned your hand after 1 minute. I did contact the front desk. Several times to no avail. Apparently I'm to nice and should have raised my voice. We met other passenger's with similar problems. They flat had shouting matches with the staff. Some did receive results. Saying I'm sorry for your experience and doing nothing is 5 star hospitality? I'm not even bringing up the dirty curtains, pill-ed bedding. The rough old towels that should have been retired. And our robes, one was stained with yellow spotches - disgusting. i truly believe the automatic tip has ruined good service. They used to work for it. I did go down and remove the tip from my account. Many other did also. That should give the line a clue shouldn't it? The shows were better in high school, for sea days, bring a book or sit on your veranda and relax. The food was the worst, the coffee was bad. A consensus among everyone we ate with at various meals. The food, bland, lukewarm. A medium rare steak came well done. Mind you I'd ordered the veal. It wasn't available so without asking what they could get me they came up with a steak. We were first seating and always on time at the fixed seating. So the excuse there? I was promised by the asst. maitredumb creme brulee and received jello, shall I go on? Salmon served one of the last mornings was so off and salty I complained. The maitredumb came over (surprisingly) to ask about it. He tried mine after I didn't eat it and agreed it was bad. He also said that everyone that morning was complaining about it.....he said it wouldn't be served again, Score 1. Fish was always "well done" you could count on that. And the lack of good quality food in the cafeteria where they ran out of eggs 2 different morning, along with serving cold corned beef hash? 5 Star at a homeless shelter more like. The cafeteria was flat bad. And no help to carry your tray, or coffee, juice served by the staff like on Princess. The waitstaff was overworked. They ran at breakneck speed, no wonder so many orders were wrong. They were unfriendly in that they had NO time to chat at all with passenger's. Twice we paid $35.00 each to eat at the S.S. United States Specialty Restaurant. The food and service were excellent! But I had paying that much after already paying for our cruise. We did have several meals delivered to the room so we could enjoy the deck, food was cold, or sweaty from taking to long to deliver it. My impression of the non-smiling staff was boredom and under pressure. We also had a problem with someone in the Cova Cafe using our card for extra tips twice after we'd had expresso's. The staff was flip about it. Obviously someone was pocketing the money. And it took two tries to correct it. The kayaking tour we booked via internet, Ketchikan Kayak Co. was excellent. Our first kayaking experience and now we want to buy our own. A seal, and plenty of starfish, bald eagles, just beautiful. The other tours we booked through Celebrity were all good. The Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest we've done before and was again fabulous. Brown bear, sea otters, whales, bald eagles, etc. Juneau, Whale Quest & Orca included lunch on a beautiful island. The tour got us up close to many whales. We intend to continue cruising and return to Princess where the staff is welcoming, attentive, fun and the ship isn't dirty, with plastic flowers (NO fresh flowers anywhere) The Conservatory was full of dead plants, and the gift shop staff doesn't sleep walk while your asking questions on items for sale. We were looking forward to a 40th anniversary celebration. Unfortunately the condition of this ship took much of the pleasure from our trip away. From the state room, which had a toilet that frequently didn’t work, with a speaker that also failed to work and balcony railinging with paint sloppily applied. The shower hot water was occasionally not available. About a third of the gym equipment was not in order. We had to avoid many parts of the ship due to ongoing work by maintenance crews. No activities were offered in the sport court and it’s surface was covered in splattered paint. The walking surface on the exterior portion of the ship was stained, And in need of repair. The hot tubs were poorly repaired after years of service, etc etc etc. Rust was prevalent throughout the boat with some stairs actually broken. For the cost of this trip I laugh at the gall Celebrity has to provide such a DUMP of a ship. The staff were excellent and the food was OK. This was our 4th cruise and the only time we’ve been dissatisfied. I’ll never give Celebrity another chance. They should be ashamed! Again, this boat is a dump. Spend your money on another cruise line. Read Less

We chose this cruise to experience some latin flavour and of coarse Cape Horn... a Magellan dream. The facts are: Buenos Aris port where the ship docked for two days is awful. Shipping containers, strattle-carriers, trucks constantly beeping, jackhammers, noisy port. The ship was sandwiched between mountains of shipping containers, affording the view. One could literally taste the pollution, using the balcony was impossible. Our aqua class room: We arrived exhausted. Our bags were in the hall. I asked the attendant if he could put the bed protectors on the bedding as I didn't want to put our luggage on the clean white comforter. He said,'they did not do that anymore???' I asked were the fresh flowers were, the fruit basket, the champagne our bottled water? ''They do not do that anymore. But if I ask he will bring the champagne.' We noticed in unpacking that there was only one robe and no wine glasses. Upon request those were provide. A crumpled up robe was handed over. We also noticed that the bottle of vodka we ordered was not delivered. To unravel that it took three days and several calls to guest services, even though we had our order and confirmation numbers. ( as and aside our cost was $106.00 and the ship stores sold the same vodka 2 bottles for $30...) Montevideo featured a busy working port thankfully not on the same scale as Buenos Ares. We finally relaxed on our balcony. I thought the balcony had been cleaned, my clothing proved otherwise. Three days of filthy had not been touched... I used a white dampened hand towel which came out blackened and filthy from the railing, table and chairs, I called our attendant and showed him my stained clothing and filthy towel. The Captain never mentioned that the ship was in anyway compromised from the start. We were told that our safety was his main concern... We missed Port ARENAS and were given back to our account whatever number they made up. Port Montt was also missed, so to speak... our scheduled arrival was for 8:00 am... that was changed to 1:30 pm (at which time we were still crawling into port). We were tender #3 and at 3:00pm, we hand not been called. We were warned that the last tender leaving port would leave the dock at 6:45pm. How is this visiting Port Montt??? Our celebrity cruise ended in San Antonio. We were hours late arriving and missed our car to Santiago. Read Less

Disappointed with the Infinity- one of the older ships, dated decor and I believe due to be de-commissioned later this year to make way for the new Celebrity range. Cabin was clean but small with basic balcony. The cruise was ruined by unruly kids whose parents took no notice whatsoever of them running wild- through the restaurants including climbing the trellis, barging through the middle of the dance floor and eating burgers in the Jacuzzi. My husband pointed out to the waiters who seemed powerless to intervene. The resturant was immpossible to get into without a 2+ hour wait unless you wanted to eat at 5.30pm. The reason given was so many Spanish families had booked on this cruise and liked to eat late. The first eve we ate at 11.30pm deapite the resturant supposedly closing at 9.30pm One of the main reasons for out S American adventure was the Chilean Fiords. Unfortunately it was impossible to hear the speaker due to microphone malfunction plus having an open bar with many people talking and children running around. Totally ruined our experience Lastly I think it is important to realise that over xmas there will be a lot of families with children running around. On this cruise over 1/3rd were under age 21yrs. This was never explained to us by our travel agent and something we hadn't anticipated, and certainly will be something we will take into consideration going forward This cruise was marketed as a six star cruise. That it is certainly not. Forget gala balls and new years dances- more like turn up in ripped jeans and baseball hats. There wasnt even a xmas cracker or party hat on the table Very disappointed and will be crossing Celebrity off our list of further cruises Read Less

We have been cruising for over 35 years. This past cruise with Celebrity on the Infinity put a damper on cruising with Celebrity. We have cruised on both the Infinity and Millenium before and was the main reason we chose the Infinity. We chose the coastal cruise because we live in Vancouver and because we loved the Infinity. We loved the excellent dining room service, but the food was lacking, of the 6 meals we had, 3 I would consider acceptable, the other 3 were very good. Qsine lived up to its reputation and was excellent . The shows were okay, nothing worth writing home about. The Martini bar was the central point of three deck because of its location in the atrium, the sound of cackling drunks was not pleasant when you are trying to have a quiet after dinner drink or cappuccino. There was a lack of piano bars that were open at the right times. Celebrity is definitely cutting corners, it is obvious and passengers we talked to all agree, many said it is time to change, many said never Celebrity again, it is sad that this is happening. We sail on Princess, Azamara, and Holland America. Azamara we love for Europe, Princess and H.A. for local, Alaska, Coastal, and Mexico. Celebrity is now off our list. Oh, do not get a cabin with adjoining door, you can hear every sound your neighbour makes, fortunate for us they were close friends and we could laugh about it. Read Less

I had been told by people that Celebrity was a cut above the rest. They must not have been on this ship. There was not much help from the first time we got on the ship right through getting off the ship. First off I had tried to contact Celebrity about me doing something special for my wife as we were celebrating our anniversary. The webpage doesn't work for that so I emailed them and didn't get an answer. I ordered a cake to be delivered to our state room the first night. While we were at the show they delivered it. The cake was beautiful and tasted very good. The cake was huge and needed to be refrigerated. Here is where the first problem was. We called down to room service for something to wrap up the cake. We were told they didn't have anything to wrap it up in. The refrigerator was small and was full of drinks for extra charge so we couldn't use it so we ended up throwing out the cake minus a couple of pieces. We upgraded our drink package to the premium package. The service at lunch and dinner was terrible as far as getting drinks, I guess that way they cut down on costs. The buffet was good with a few exceptions. At breakfast they had a poached egg stand that was manned by one person to serve the entire ship. At lunch they had a pasta station manned by one person. The ice cream station was manned by one person. Tables weren't being cleaned off. Coffee dispensers were always empty. The floors were filthy. We booked an excursion for Belize, in the morning the wife was sick so I headed down to the excursion desk. The desk was closed but there were three employees there. I went up to the desk to talk to them and the lady stuck the close sign in my face. The selection for dinner was subpar to other cruises I have been on. As to the other reviews I knew the ship was just coming out of dry dock and I knew not everything was going to be done until December so0 the construction didn't bother me. The only good service was at the café. The only thing great about the cruise other than being with my wife and friends was the entertainment. I doubt very much if I would ever use Celebrity again. First of all we had a very difficult time getting into San Francisco due to weather conditions (heavy fog). My wife called Celebrity help desk to find out if the ship was leaving later than expected. We were told in a very cold voice to be at the terminal by 4 pm or we would not be allowed to board. After landing in SF on another airline and a mad, mad dash to the cruise terminal by taxi at just minutes before 4 pm we saw hundreds of people outside standing in line waiting to get into the terminal. There had been many, many delays getting people onto the ship. We paid Celebrity for a shuttle ride to the ship but received a text from our travel agent that Celebrity notified her that anyone arriving at the airport after 12 noon would be on their own to get to the ship! No shuttles! What? That was dozens of people coming into SF just after noon. We never received that text from Celebrity and we were signed up with them to receive updates. Then there was no greeter present anywhere to tell us what was going on and to confirm how to get to the ship. We have been to Alaska many times on Princess and Holland. How can you have a Alaska cruise with NO naturalist on board? Whoever was doing the VERY limited narration at Tracy Arm had no idea what to say. When we boarded the ship we had no drinking glasses in the room and no do not disturb sign for the door. We also found out later that there was a Welcome Aboard letter with some details about things we missed. We never received that letter (our 5th and probably last cruise with Celebrity). We also never received one of the bags they give you for shopping at the stores on shore until we asked for one! Production shows (3) were very good. Other entertainers were okay, about what you expect. Food okay. Curtains in stateroom looked like they were 30 years old. Bed was hard as a rock, very uncomfortable. Ship was nice but seems to look somewhat old and dated. Compared to Princess, who seems to always do everything right, this trip was a disaster. Read Less

Our cruise on the Celebrity Infinity was from Valparaiso cruising Northward seeing South America, Panamagg Canal and ending in Ft Lauderdale. Let me discuss some of the pre-cruise events. Our flight to Santiago was uneventful with the airport recovering from the 2010 earthquake which significantly damaged the International airport. Our private tour guides, Sergio and Annaliese from Perfect Day tours where perfect hosts and gave us a customized tour of Vineyards, Isla Negra, Vina Del Mar and dropped us off in our Valparaiso B&B called Hostel Morgan. The B&B was reasonable, in a fun area with many food options but a bit noisy at night. Thankfully, we had earplugs! Embarkation was easy and reasonably efficient. The cab was 8,000 pesos which included 2,000 peso tip. While most of the ports of call were arranged using private excursions (all amazing), we did arrange two Celebrity tours with Celebrity. The full day tour to the Altiplano from the port of Arica was amazing with Llamas, Guanacos, Vincunas, Alpakas, and Chilean Flamingos. The guide was informative and fun. The next port excursion with Celebrity from Pisco to the Ballestra Isle which also had great views of bird and sea animals but the trip was delayed with a late arrival of our boat. Leaving less time for wildlife. The Celebrity Infinity staff welcomed us onboard. The crew needed a long time to clean and sanitize any ship based in South American typically struggle to control Noro that's brought in from SA ports. They did keep us comfortable in the buffet until our rooms were ready at 4pm. Our stateroom was clean and in good order except for a broken telephone which we reported to our stewards when they came to meet us. The Celebrity Infinity main dining room service was excellent and the staff was top-notch. Our food was as good or better than other cruise lines we have used (HAL and NCL). The at sea teaching classes were also good providing good information and background on the upcoming ports and culture of the ports/countries that we would visit. However, the entertainment onboard was poor and wasn't appropriate for a South American cruise. Seeing poor Broadway shows and performers from everywhere but South America was disappointing. On other cruise lines, when we would pull into a port, they would have periodically have culturally relevant shows (e.g., in Scotland on a 2013 cruise, we had Scottish Bagpipers and on a trip with a port call in Istanbul, we had a Turkish dancers). The entertainment was unimaginative and inappropriate with some singers who were off-key. I've seen High School musicals which showed more imagination. We used one shore excursion from the ship and it was delayed (with our group losing an hour waiting for a boat and guide). Very upset cruisers who had to stand in the sun for an hour by the pier waiting. My phone voice mail system wasn't operational for the entire cruise which hampered our Cruise Critic groups from getting together or updating tour. We called repeatedly throughout the two-week cruise and finally got a senior staff member who indicated that "it's a French voicemail system and we've been having issues with it". However, I would not that after noting this on a comment card, they gave us some onboard credit (so at least they finally tried to provide restitution for our inconvenience). I'll likely not use Celebrity in the future based on price/ value but did enjoy the South American ports and Panama Canal. Read Less

I was hoping to be wowed by Celebrity having read up so much prior to going, but i have to say although they were good, I do prefer other cruise lines in retrospect. The ports of call made this cruise memorable for the right reasons. Our cabin was lovely, clean and such a comfortable bed. Good closet space. Bathroom supplies were fine. A very quiet and smooth sail throughout no issues with the ship itself even though its due a refit being older, but i liked the size of it, and managed to not get too lost. The small annoyance is the water in cabin is extra costing over 5$ for a warm bottle of water, which if you have a drinks package its Free from the bars. Mini bar is also extra. Dining was mediocre. our table for 2 was squashed by a stair well we felt squeezed in. Service, was fine, just a little forced. Buffet was again Ok, but on some occasions some sections were closed, and left very little to choose from, however the breakfast ommlette station was fantastic, offering hot variety on demand. The waiters who clear the tables work very hard. Lovely views whilst sitting in the Buffet, this was lovely for sunsets and dolphin spotting whilst eating. Some bars kept running out of things waiting on deliveries. Some toilets had toilet paper on the floor, and no napkins. It actually felt like the ship was short staffed for some reason.Maybe they were training staff still I dont know. Food in the main dining was often luke warm and tiny portions. The soups were lovely to taste, but the menu every day was un-inspiring really, i was hoping the food would be something extra special. We didn't do the speciality due to the constant upsell all the time, and the menus offered there were pretty much the same you could get for free elsewhere. Cafe Bacio the coffee shop was a favourite of ours, wonderful drinks and pretty good service in here. Entertainment was constant around the ship, a great DJ Alessio, was fantastic, some great sounds, round by the pool bar and Maritin bar. He lifted the mood well. Evening entertainment one show was great the IBroadway was excellent but the other shows were ok, nothing too engaging, we found much of the shows were gameshow style which felt very much for the Americans onboard. Most of the bar staff we experienced were quite miserable, and found service very inconsistent and slow, one person great, next person not at all bothered to connect with you. such a shame. The best part was - Our ports of call were excellent, itinerary fantastic. I loved Venice, and Split and Kotor especially. The tours we did were great too, very insightful and interesting the tour guides were fantastic, we did some walking tours and found them very well organised and enjoyable. All the tenders and transfers were organised very well. everything rang smoothly, I was just a little underwhelmed by Celebrity, most of the hype says they are top of the list. i beg to differ. Good staff and some really good U K based performing acts in the theatre. Food overall was good but the main dining room menu is getting a bit stale and as such we ate in self service restaurant on a few occasions which was a nice change. We found it disappointing that we could not even try a Martini, using our drinks package, you needed premium, in the Martini Bar. In general the wines that we tried at night did not match the quality from previous Celebrity cruises. We booked three shore excursions through Celebrity and two through Cruising excursions, which on the whole were far better value than Celebrity. Although the ship was okay it is definitely looking very tired and in urgent need of a refit. We also enjoyed coffee at Al Bachio and the occasional confectionary on a daily basis. It was also nice to be sitting somewhere and one of the onboard entertainers would set up and start playing. Read Less

Pros: I love Celebrity cruise lines. Clean and well-maintained ships, superb service, great food, and a no smoking casino. Cons: (on my recent Infinity cruise): Limited music venues. This is the first cruise I have been on in quite a while I was disappointed in the live band and music choices. Very limited variety, no piano bar, not oldies music at all! Made for somewhat of a boring and disappointing cruise, to be honest. On my previous 2 cruises (Carnival), Awesome live band playing 60s and 70s music, but they often played in the casino which was so smoke filled my wife couldn't even bear to walk by it, let alone sit and listen to the band or dance. Also our specialty dining experience in the Tuscan Restaurant was a complete disappointment. Paper thin steaks, bland sides, and extremely slow service. Next time we will pass on the Tuscan Restaurant. A $90 we would love to have back. Read Less

We read reviews prior to booking in January for trip to Alaska on Celebrity and were expecting more. Our trip was average at best and food was not as good as our previous cruise on Royal Caribbean. Weather was not good except for our day in Ketchikan on this trip but nothing we do about that. We booked all of our excursions ourselves instead of through cruise line which worked our well and was less expensive than utilizing cruise line. Research via trip advisor for things to do. We we did wildlife and whale watching as well as Misty Fjords on a float plane. The plane excursion was great. Trip to mindenhall glacier and national park was very good. Food was disappointing except for the Ocean Blue Cafe. Best bets is to get food to order at the cafe. You can do this at breakfast and lunch. Trellis dining room was okay but nothing to write home about. Our best meal was at Tuscan but 90 dollar upcharge. Entertainment was okay. One good comedian, good Elton John Tribute and decent cast shows. The waiters and servers were very personable and good. Jorge was very good at the Trellis. Trip to Hubbard glacier was great even in wet weather. Rooms were okay, decent shower, uncomfortable bed and pillows and limited closet space. Furnishings were dated. Would I cruise Celebrity again? Very doubtful, it was less than expected. Read Less

As this was our very first cruise, we didn't have anything to compare against, however our expectations for what was our Honeymoon were higher than what we experienced on our cruise with Celebrity Cruises. Whilst the list of amenities available is indeed impressive and the service provided was generally very good/excellent, I feel Celebrity Cruises can refine some of the services they provide to be more inclusive as there was definitely a feeling that many of these were tailored towards passengers willing to put their hand in their pocket further on the cruise (Add Ons). My first issue was the pushy sales oriented nature of the cruise, we had barely stepped onto the ship when we were accosted about drinks packages, a waiter handed us a glass of champagne as we boarded then moved to take it from me while asking if we had purchased a drinks package, a simple check of our card would reveal we had already purchased a mid-range 'classic' drinks package which was our choice, but this was obviously not enough as we were pressured to upgrade to the premium package several times in the opening couple of days. This appeared to be a sales driven tactic, in order that certain crew members might pocket commission? A cynical view perhaps but thats how it appeared to us. The way this was approached left a bad taste in the mouth. Also, some of the Level 10 bars glasses were worn and dirty and some staff were inconsistent about what was and what was not included in certain drink packages. The most absurd thing I heard was that the 'classic' package did not include cans of coca cola but instead the customer should receive a glass of coca cola poured from a bottle. This was more often than not flat, as a result. Also certain cocktails were provided which were missing specific ingredients, a French Caribbean arrived with no Malibu! Poor show! My second issue was the frankly scandalous internet prices offered onboard. When you pay a small fortune for a ticket for the cruise, the last thing you expect is to get absolutely no internet / wifi provided free of charge or even for what might be viewed as a bargain. I can understand the need to cap access to a certain extent, however a basic free or low cost internet package should be provided in this day and age when social media is available to share this experience with family and friends. If guests want to stream movies or use large amounts of data for personal or business purposes then a charge would seem appropriate but for basic internet use, checking emails, social media and web pages this would use comparatively little data. The hourly / daily and weekly rates were excessive in the extreme and anyone willing to pay the fees must have pockets deeper than the oceans we were sailing on. Along the same lines was the excessive prices for spa treatments. In the UK and probably United States / Canadian high street the same treatments can be purchased for a 1/3 of the cost they were on the ship and this will only put people off. It would be a far more attractive amenity if the prices were more realistic and in line with the prices on land with maybe a few pounds mark up and catered for everyone and not just the elite. It was simply a rip-off. Other (probably well intentioned) amenities like the photography, filming, art auctions, casino etc. had a cash cow feel to them. The Cabin The cabin was small and a little bit of a letdown but it was adequate for the amount of time we spent in it. It had dirty exterior windows (porthole) making it difficult to see out of it, I understand the difficulty in keeping these clean due to the sea spray etc but it would have made a better impression on leaving port to a clean window to look out of. The ship is in need of some soft refurb in key areas particularly the cabins, as cabinets and furniture was dated and had worn finishes. The Entertainment There was a huge list of events and functions which had something for everyone so I give credit to Luigi and Lauren and the gang for this. The Shows we saw were excellent, professional and the two comedians superb. The Naturalist, Milos was a scream, a very funny man who made the subjects he lectured on even more interesting than they might have first appeared. We saw him at every opportunity. Give that man a fresh contract I say! The Excursions Excursions were very good if overpriced (tourist fees which is kind of par these days), the only real gripe I have here was that the advert of seeing specific wildlife in many places should be based on the season travelling as some wildlife like Beavers, Moose, Orca etc was not seen as advertised and in some cases walks to see such wildlife turned into plant and tree discussions to fill the void. The Staff The staff were on the whole very friendly and courteous, our room attendant was excellent and always left the place immaculate every day. Room service was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately there was noticeable evidence of staff intimidation where junior staff were told off / scolded in front of guests by senior staff. This should not happen in the company of guests. Our experience was that the more senior the staff member the less likelihood you would get any acknowledgment as we walked throughout the ship with officers in particular grumpy and disinterested. The Food The food we received at the Trellis Restaurant was very good, we only had one meal which fell below usual high standards. The only gripe with the restaurant was the offer of flexible dining, only to find that table space was at a premium whenever we tried to utilise this service, I think more thought should be put around what exactly is being offered here, dining is either fixed or flexible, it appears it cannot be both. The response to this on the busiest evenings was simply to offer guests a small discount at one of the pay extra specialist restaurants on board the cruise ship, yet another sales pitch! The level 10 ocean view buffet style diner was decent for breakfasts and lunches but it felt like running the gauntlet trying to find a table, hence why for breakfast we resorted to room service as it was too manic from 8-10am up there. In Summary On the surface, Celebrity Cruises offers a shiny product but some of it's services and prices should be refined to be more inclusive of all customers. Celebrity Cruises should consider that they may lose customers for future cruises to competitors who fulfil the same services they do but in a fairer manner. Read Less

Friends were going, we decided it looked like fun. It was in some ways, but the previously mentioned issues with the engine system slowed the ship down to the point that shore stops were cut short. Exceptional - entertainment was very good, our cabin attendant was incredible, dining experiences were excellent.Going through the canal for the first time was incredible. I enjoyed the days at sea, the spouse not so much. We had an open sea dolphin show on one of those days! We loved the flexible time dining room option and never had an issue with any requested seating arrangement. We went 2 days early and purchased the hotel and transfer from the cruise line. The hotel was excellent, as was the transfer from Santiago to San Antonio. Not so great - the shore destinations were mediocre, as were most of the described (way overpriced) shore excursion possibilities. We did our own shore arrangements. The stop at Manta was a complete waste. Our room had a sewage odor that the crew attempted to fix. It went away for a while, then came back the last few days. The ship's exterior was showing significant wear and corrosion. I heard that the ship was going to Panama to spend some time in dry dock. It needs it. Read Less

This the first millenium class ship for us. All our Celeb cruises have been Solstice so far. Boarding long winded as there were only a few cameras and these required a long waiting line. Where are cameras, one per check in desk? Had the classic drinks package and for the first few days had issues with bar staff not knowing what an Alabama Slammer was, including some rude attitude by the staff, until the beverages manager got involved. Had a confirmed late dining on a table for eight from Celebrity but on first night did not have an allocated table and told we were select for some reason. Other guests had same issue. After firm discussions allocated a table for ten on late sitting. Appeared poor management/admin. The table was in an area on 5th deck and our side was in poor lighting until three days before cruise finished, dispie staff trying to resolve the issue. Our table 513 was last to get mains by a considerable time in relation to other tables near us, to a point where we passed on the desert simply to leave the table by 22.15. This came to a head on lobster night when at 21.50 we were told the lobster had run out. Overall our dinner experience was poor and seemed to suffer from poor management. My birthday was on the cruise and my wife requested a birthday cake. None appeared. We have a cruise next April 2018 on the Millenium and I just hope we don not exerience the same poor standards. Having cruised on the Infinity’s sister ship, the Summit, in 2014, I expected an awesome time, and didn’t really anticipate any major surprises when I boarded the Infinity for a 15-day Panama Canal cruise. However, there were some – the new Roof Top Terrace, Blu, and a lot more sea days. THE GOOD We decided to try Aqua Class this time, and our cabin (9131) was in great shape and perfectly located. No dreaded noises (some CC posters had recommended avoiding these cabins because of potential scraping or thumping under the Ocean View Café or pool deck). That was not an issue and we were close to everything. Room 9131 was nice and clean, and we liked the upgraded shower, robes, etc. Although, some instruction regarding the features would really come in handy. I have neck problems and no one told me about the pillow menu that could have alleviated them. No directions for all the nice things you can do with the shower adjustments either. We never did figure out how to turn on the entry light without blazing up the entire cabin, and the balcony door needs Arnold Schwarzenegger to open it. Yikes. That said, our cabin steward was so attentive I couldn’t believe he ever sleeps had not been cloned somehow. Always there, always helpful! Blu Blu was a nice venue for dinner, but it was a bit hit and miss. The sample menu on Celebrity.com shows filet mignon, for instance. Never got it in 15 days. I like my beef really rare and the steak they served was too tough to eat it that way. Appetizers, salads, fish, and soups were very, very good though. I should have had three helpings of steak tartare and skipped everything else that night. Only other issue with Blu was that the tables are very close together and they mash you against other people even when it isn’t full. Never an issue with dinner but one morning I had to listen to a really loud guy talk with his mouth full the entire breakfast. His spit actually hit my table cloth. Ugh. After that I went to the omelet station upstairs. Our wine steward, Amar, was great and took awesome care of us in Blu. Buffet The buffet, which I tend to avoid on cruises or anywhere else, was surprisingly good. Omelet station and poached station were a hit, and I tried new things like the broiled tomatoes in the English breakfast section. Only inconvenience was having to get lattes on the 5th floor (Cafe Bacio folks are super!), then run back up to the tenth floor to get breakfast. Had there been a savory option, like a veggie quiche or ham and cheese croissant on fifth floor, life would have been perfect. Bar We had the Premium (aka, the AA, lol) drinks package, which was nice. Included all the coffee drinks as well. Service was terrific, especially in the Ocean View Bar, Cellar Masters and Bacio. Martini Bar is fun, but most of the drinks are sweet. Honestly, the best craft cocktails by far were in Sushi On Five. Too bad that’s the only place you can get them, because unless the whole group likes sushi you never get to go there. Sushi On Five This replaced Bistro On Five, the old crepe place. It had some really good food, mostly the appetizers, but I noticed the menu was much more limited than the sample on the web site. Very little for non-sushi folks, which makes it hard to get a group to go. Rhys, our waiter, was terrific. I also remember them taking sushi off the other menus on board because there is now a dedicated restaurant, but no one had added crepes anywhere now that Bistro is gone. Really missed both the sweet and savory crepes. The Gym Classes were great, gym very clean, good equipment, usually no waiting. Only problem is it’s hard to balance in yoga class when the seas are rough. And for some reason, the locker room has no hair dryers! Really strange – still had to go back to room, all yucky, because no real way to shower and dress in there. Entertainment Silent Disco was really fun. The bands on board were mostly really good as well. And watching movies and football upstairs on the roof top was fantastic. Only problem is getting food or drinks up there. Hard to balance them while going up the stairs. One of the drink carts like the ones they push around the pool area would be helpful. THE BAD Not too much bad here but figured I’d mention in case Celebrity is interested in improvement. Wine Only deficiency regarding drinks service was in the specialty restaurant, Tuscan Grille. On the Summit, in the Normandie, our sommelier was fantastic. She had a wine for each course that hit the mark every time. This guy couldn’t even remember which if us was drinking white or red, or what our next course was. A little disappointing. I’ll miss the Normandie. Room Service Okay, I don’t know what “enhanced” room service menu was supposed to be, but ours was seriously limited. Food not impressive at all and very little variety. Only got it once. Pool Chairs and lounges – chair hogs alive and well. Every time I walked in to maybe read for an hour or so, every chair had a towel and junk on it, and maybe a third were actually being used. Maybe implement a reservation system and a time limit? THE CHEESY! AND THESE ARE THE WORST COMPLAINTS Sea Days If you eliminate all of the “events” that are thinly (or not-so-thinly) disguised sales pitches, there is very little to do, especially if you’re under 100 years old. Here’s an example: • Learn about buying emeralds! • Watch buying party! • Art auction! • Art auction! • Art auction! • Opal seminar! • Learn about enhancing your health (with vitamins, acupuncture, massage, orthotics, oils, aromatherapy, hair products for sale) • Ruby celebration! • Gemstones for you! • Jewelry grand opening! • Shore shopping expert! • Diamonds International! • Port expert tells you where to shop! You get the idea. Retail shops were less than inspiring. More jewelry, just cheaper. I never saw Top Chef at Sea, which was about the only thing I was looking forward to. The web site also touted things like language classes, which I wanted to attend and never saw. Unless your idea of vacation is bingo, stuffing your face and buying overpriced crap you don’t need, you’ll hate sea days on Celebrity. And there were nine of them. Ugh. This was our seventh cruise and has probably cured us of taking another cruise for a while. Read Less

This was my second cruise, first with Celebrity. Overall, I was happy with the cruise. Did find certain aspects annoying. The drinks and other packages are expensive, gratuities are expect as a matter of course and not based on the level of service. Service throughout the ship service was a bit hit and miss. Some crew members were attentive, while others were irreverent and some just ignored you. Service in the dining room was good but slow. Infinity is starting to show her age. Most public areas are satisfactory. The cabins are tired and in need of updating, but the cabin attendants were very good. Embarkation was not very well organised, long queues at check-in, baggage drop-off and going through USA Boarder Control added even more queues. It took nearly 2 hours from getting out of the taxi to boarding the ship. Disembarkation was better organised and smoother. Dining was good, the food was very good, in the main dining. The buffet restaurant on deck 10 was like a bun-fight, especially at breakfast. With only one main dining room serving breakfast and only open until 9am, nearly all the ship seemed to try and eat on deck 10. Trying to find a seat was nearly impossible. Entertainment was very good and there was always somewhere to go and enjoy a live show or activities to take part in. There shore excursions were good, a good selection in each port to suit all tastes. Overall, I enjoyed this cruise. The destination had a lot to do with that enjoyment. Having only 3 ports of call, some of these for only a few hours, in a 7 day cruise, does mean you rely on the ship to entertain you, which it did well, most of the time. We were fortunate that the weather was good when we approached the Hubbard Glasier, the ultimate destination. I will cruise again, but whether I cruise with Celebrity will very much depend on the destinations and ports visit. Read Less

My 8th cruise. Alaska was magnificent an experience not to be missed. Embarkation was easy until we reached the US Border Staff Checks, took forever. Cabin was fantastic 7206 huge balcony at the stern great all round views a spot of soot from the funnel though. Dining in the Trellis was poor in the evening, tired repetitive menu very bland. Breakfast was good in both Tellis and Spa. The Oceanview cafeteria was bearable late evening otherwise it is a zoo. Entertainment was very good and thoroughly enjoyable very professional. Service was mixed throughout; cabin staff superb, restaurant waiters (wine and food) were inconsistent and often no where to be found. Bar service was generally good some bars were often under staffed. Shore excursions were enjoyable and generally well organised but on one occasion there was clearly not enough time to cover everything properly. Shore excursion prices remain a bone of contention and can only be described as seriously expensive, value for money not always obvious. The ship as whole portrayed a very tired atmosphere and often public areas and bars were bombarded with inappropriate music more often than not too loud. Martini bar with 'Garage,Rap and HipHop' is it me? Apart from the cabin and the entertainment the ship did nothing to entice me back again. Disembarkation was very easy and well controlled. Vancouver is a lovely city and well worth a visit. Cycle round Stanley Park is a great way to see a major part. Read Less

We are a fan of Celebrity Cruises and we were looking forward to our Panama canal to Valparaiso, Chile. 15 day cruise. Honestly we were very dissppointed, this cruise on our estimate was nothing like our previous cruises on Celebrity. We had been on the Millenium a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but the Infinity even it had gone through a refurbishment was not up to par, on some sections of the ship we noticed a very strong sewage smell. The food on MDR was not bad but nothing to brag about, we did enjoyed the expirience on Qsine, but were disappointed with Tuscan Grill. The check in was quick and easy but when we went up to the buffet it was a mad house, the ship was being deep clean do to an outbrake of the novavirus and people after they had eaten stayed seated and there was not a place to seat and have lunch, the situation was not handle properly by the cruise line. The staff was great, from our cabin attendant to the waiting staff on all the restaurants. Entertainment was not bad and enjoyed the lectures offered. The Panama Canal crossing is a very nice expirience and we had a wonderful time. Read Less
