We were looking forward to a 40th anniversary celebration. Unfortunately the condition of this ship took much of the pleasure from our trip away. From the state room, which had a toilet that frequently didn’t work, with a speaker that also failed to work and balcony railinging with paint sloppily applied. The shower hot water was occasionally not available. About a third of the gym equipment was not in order. We had to avoid many parts of the ship due to ongoing work by maintenance crews. No activities were offered in the sport court and it’s surface was covered in splattered paint. The walking surface on the exterior portion of the ship was stained, And in need of repair. The hot tubs were poorly repaired after years of service, etc etc etc. Rust was prevalent throughout the boat with some stairs actually broken. For the cost of this trip I laugh at the gall Celebrity has to provide such a DUMP of a ship. The staff were excellent and the food was OK. This was our 4th cruise and the only time we’ve been dissatisfied. I’ll never give Celebrity another chance. They should be ashamed! Again, this boat is a dump. The ship could do with a refit as it is looking a bit jaded. Checking in was very efficient and quick. Our cabin was fine with plenty of draw and hanging space, looked after by Faisal. We were disappointed with the MDR when we were at a table for 8 as it took over 2&half hours to finish, not enough waiters. We then tried seating for 2 with no problems at all. Entertainment was very good and varied. Chiko was OUTSTANDING in everything that he did,particularly the choir which we were part of. Service in all the bars was patchy as there were not enough waiters,quicker to go to bar yourself. The excursions were well organised and not too expensive for cruise ship excursions. The Panama Canal was an amazing experience. We would do this again in a few years. We enjoyed the excursions in Columbia, Panama, Guatemala and Mexico. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed ourselves and met some very nice people Read Less

We are Diamond cruisers on Royal Caribbean. Therefore we were able to join Celebrity as Elite Captain Club members. So we wanted to try Celebrity to see how it compares to Royal Caribbean. We were extremely disappointed. The Celebrity Infinity has the potential to be a beautiful ship. Unfortunately it has not been properly maintained since it was launched in 2001. The ship looked drab and it never smelled fresh. The service in the dining room was the worst we have ever experienced, partly because there were not enough waiters to properly serve the guests. The food was bland, the selection was limited, especially the breads, and dinner took almost two hours every night - a real endurance contest. The buffet options were dismal - don't even think about eating any breads, pastries or donuts. We experienced raw sewer smells in our cabin on three nights which woke us from a deep sleep. Our cabin steward was one of the nicest stewards we have encountered. Our cabin was very nice, though dated and in dire need of a refurbish. We will not cruise on Celebrity again. Read Less

We read reviews prior to booking in January for trip to Alaska on Celebrity and were expecting more. Our trip was average at best and food was not as good as our previous cruise on Royal Caribbean. Weather was not good except for our day in Ketchikan on this trip but nothing we do about that. We booked all of our excursions ourselves instead of through cruise line which worked our well and was less expensive than utilizing cruise line. Research via trip advisor for things to do. We we did wildlife and whale watching as well as Misty Fjords on a float plane. The plane excursion was great. Trip to mindenhall glacier and national park was very good. Food was disappointing except for the Ocean Blue Cafe. Best bets is to get food to order at the cafe. You can do this at breakfast and lunch. Trellis dining room was okay but nothing to write home about. Our best meal was at Tuscan but 90 dollar upcharge. Entertainment was okay. One good comedian, good Elton John Tribute and decent cast shows. The waiters and servers were very personable and good. Jorge was very good at the Trellis. Trip to Hubbard glacier was great even in wet weather. Rooms were okay, decent shower, uncomfortable bed and pillows and limited closet space. Furnishings were dated. Would I cruise Celebrity again? Very doubtful, it was less than expected. Read Less

We choose this cruise because my parents and some friends had traveled with Celebrity before and really enjoyed it. Our previous experiences had been Carnival and Disney. This was definitely on a par with Disney (Carnival was fun, but not fancy). We chose to get an Aqua-Class stateroom and were definitely glad we did, if only because of how much of the embarkation line we got to skip! The room was nice, the balcony was nice. We did have a bit of noise from the very loud walkers/runners/jumpers upstairs, but it wasn't enough to ruin anything (we were on deck 9, port side, towards the front). We could tell the ship was older, mostly from the decor, but it was well-maintained. The worst sign of age was some looseness and bounciness in the floor of our bathroom. The buffet was fun sometimes, but always very, very crowded and the food was really hit-or-miss. Finding a table wasn't the easiest, either. We eventually opted for lunch in the main dining room, even though it meant standing in line for at least 10 minutes (sadly, not really longer than for some of the buffet sections). Aqua-Class was also great because of the dedicated dining room, Blu, for breakfast and dinner. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table, and they always asked for our preference in window-or-not. All the staff was wonderful; all smiles and friendliness and efficiency. We were especially fond of our sommelier, Fernando, who just seemed to really know his stuff and love his job. We do not have children, and were slightly surprised at the number of children on board (based on web comments and our friends' experiences), but maybe that was because it was July. The adults-only heated pool in the solarium was our favorite place to hang out. We also found the Silent Disco fun and funny. And our only on-ship sightings of humpbacks and dolphins were from the ports in the Constellation Lounge. We did a Macallan whiskey tasting with Conrad, which was excellent (we always learn new things at tastings). The live entertainment was fabulous; we especially loved the Lighthouse Duo, and the aerialists who performed with the singers and dancers on-stage. We only used the gym once, but that not for any reason besides not feeling like working out; we were able to get treadmills without a wait. We did shore excursions at all three ports; all nature-related, and we did see some wildlife (although not bears! No luck at all!!). The only upsetting part was that somehow they missed giving us our excursion tickets in our welcome package in our room. Therefore, we weren't aware that we needed tickets, and thought things would just be managed all through our roomkeys (like Disney). So, we waited until we had been in port for a little while, then wandered downstairs, only to overhear someone say that, "They're checking in excursions in the theatre." We went there, and the door attendant asks about tickets. Well, that was a panic moment. I ran back to our room to get our receipts, while my husband ran to the Excursions Desk. Happily, they were able to immediately "reprint" them (their words), and we made it to our first excursion on time, but frazzled. The tours themselves were well-organized with pleasant and knowledgeable guides, easy transportation and no feeling of being rushed on our return. We would travel with Celebrity again. We might like to try one of the new ships they advertised. I think we're now too spoiled to go below Aqua Class, though. We also bought the Premium Drink package, which was totally worth it (for us; we kept track to make sure). Made it most relaxing to just order a drink (or a smoothie, or a coffee) any time wanted without worrying about what the bill would be at the end. Disembarkation took just about an hour and was very organized and not confusing, so not bad at all. We stayed on in Vancouver for four days when we returned, but not through the cruiseline. This cruise on Celebrity Infinity was part of a package arranged to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. Having been on Celebrity Eclipse in the Caribbean in 2017 we expected a really nice ship and the Infinity lived up to our expectations. Everything was first class from the silky smooth check-in, our cabin to the entertainment. The unrestricted views from cabin were excellent and enabled me to see not only porpoises but also a whale leaping on our return to Vancouver. Very little that I can actually be negative about with the exception of the food in the Oceanview Restaurant in the evening, the quality was absolutely fine however the food could have been warmer (I like my food very hot) so after the first evening we used the main restaurant every evening and the food there was amazing and piping hot, served by a very attentive waiter named Arta and his team. Special thanks to them for making us both feel very special on this special trip. The one thing I do really like is the evening entertainment in the theatre - this was very professional with a proper orchestra whose abilities and talents are of the highest quality and the whole experience was as expected. Please do not go down the route of recorded music a live band or orchestra really adds to the overall performance of both the on board team and the guest entertainers. As this was the first part of a 3 week adventure in Canada and Alaska it certainly got us off on a high and that never dropped so if you are looking for a great time amazing scenery and a real high do it and do it with Celebrity. PS I only gave a 4 star rating due to the temperature of the Oceanview food on the first night I would have made it 4.9 if I could have Read Less

My husband and I were hesitant but booked our first cruise- the 7 day Hubbard glacier tour, on the Infinity. It was amazing! The staff was exceptional from the bar staff, to wait staff, to the helpers in guest relations. In fact guest relationships was exceptional. We had a small issue with a lost jacket and they went above and beyond to help us find it and get it sent to our room. They continually worked hard to ensure excellent service! they truly seemed happy to please. The buffet food was okay and the nighty dinner in the Trellis was above average. Drinks in the martini bar- delicious! Entertainment from the shows to dance lessons to comedy was awesome! We especially loved the acrobatics and nightly dance performances. If you get the opportunity- the silent disco is a must for all ages! Specialty coffee in Bacio was amazing and made a great start to each day. Another favorite was the included room service- it was great to get breakfast delivered to our room each day, and afternoon snacks. We were happy to find that children didn't run free and were very well behaved during our cruise. We highly recommend this ship! Read Less

As this was our very first cruise, we didn't have anything to compare against, however our expectations for what was our Honeymoon were higher than what we experienced on our cruise with Celebrity Cruises. Whilst the list of amenities available is indeed impressive and the service provided was generally very good/excellent, I feel Celebrity Cruises can refine some of the services they provide to be more inclusive as there was definitely a feeling that many of these were tailored towards passengers willing to put their hand in their pocket further on the cruise (Add Ons). My first issue was the pushy sales oriented nature of the cruise, we had barely stepped onto the ship when we were accosted about drinks packages, a waiter handed us a glass of champagne as we boarded then moved to take it from me while asking if we had purchased a drinks package, a simple check of our card would reveal we had already purchased a mid-range 'classic' drinks package which was our choice, but this was obviously not enough as we were pressured to upgrade to the premium package several times in the opening couple of days. This appeared to be a sales driven tactic, in order that certain crew members might pocket commission? A cynical view perhaps but thats how it appeared to us. The way this was approached left a bad taste in the mouth. Also, some of the Level 10 bars glasses were worn and dirty and some staff were inconsistent about what was and what was not included in certain drink packages. The most absurd thing I heard was that the 'classic' package did not include cans of coca cola but instead the customer should receive a glass of coca cola poured from a bottle. This was more often than not flat, as a result. Also certain cocktails were provided which were missing specific ingredients, a French Caribbean arrived with no Malibu! Poor show! My second issue was the frankly scandalous internet prices offered onboard. When you pay a small fortune for a ticket for the cruise, the last thing you expect is to get absolutely no internet / wifi provided free of charge or even for what might be viewed as a bargain. I can understand the need to cap access to a certain extent, however a basic free or low cost internet package should be provided in this day and age when social media is available to share this experience with family and friends. If guests want to stream movies or use large amounts of data for personal or business purposes then a charge would seem appropriate but for basic internet use, checking emails, social media and web pages this would use comparatively little data. The hourly / daily and weekly rates were excessive in the extreme and anyone willing to pay the fees must have pockets deeper than the oceans we were sailing on. Along the same lines was the excessive prices for spa treatments. In the UK and probably United States / Canadian high street the same treatments can be purchased for a 1/3 of the cost they were on the ship and this will only put people off. It would be a far more attractive amenity if the prices were more realistic and in line with the prices on land with maybe a few pounds mark up and catered for everyone and not just the elite. It was simply a rip-off. Other (probably well intentioned) amenities like the photography, filming, art auctions, casino etc. had a cash cow feel to them. The Cabin The cabin was small and a little bit of a letdown but it was adequate for the amount of time we spent in it. It had dirty exterior windows (porthole) making it difficult to see out of it, I understand the difficulty in keeping these clean due to the sea spray etc but it would have made a better impression on leaving port to a clean window to look out of. The ship is in need of some soft refurb in key areas particularly the cabins, as cabinets and furniture was dated and had worn finishes. The Entertainment There was a huge list of events and functions which had something for everyone so I give credit to Luigi and Lauren and the gang for this. The Shows we saw were excellent, professional and the two comedians superb. The Naturalist, Milos was a scream, a very funny man who made the subjects he lectured on even more interesting than they might have first appeared. We saw him at every opportunity. Give that man a fresh contract I say! The Excursions Excursions were very good if overpriced (tourist fees which is kind of par these days), the only real gripe I have here was that the advert of seeing specific wildlife in many places should be based on the season travelling as some wildlife like Beavers, Moose, Orca etc was not seen as advertised and in some cases walks to see such wildlife turned into plant and tree discussions to fill the void. The Staff The staff were on the whole very friendly and courteous, our room attendant was excellent and always left the place immaculate every day. Room service was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately there was noticeable evidence of staff intimidation where junior staff were told off / scolded in front of guests by senior staff. This should not happen in the company of guests. Our experience was that the more senior the staff member the less likelihood you would get any acknowledgment as we walked throughout the ship with officers in particular grumpy and disinterested. The Food The food we received at the Trellis Restaurant was very good, we only had one meal which fell below usual high standards. The only gripe with the restaurant was the offer of flexible dining, only to find that table space was at a premium whenever we tried to utilise this service, I think more thought should be put around what exactly is being offered here, dining is either fixed or flexible, it appears it cannot be both. The response to this on the busiest evenings was simply to offer guests a small discount at one of the pay extra specialist restaurants on board the cruise ship, yet another sales pitch! The level 10 ocean view buffet style diner was decent for breakfasts and lunches but it felt like running the gauntlet trying to find a table, hence why for breakfast we resorted to room service as it was too manic from 8-10am up there. In Summary On the surface, Celebrity Cruises offers a shiny product but some of it's services and prices should be refined to be more inclusive of all customers. Celebrity Cruises should consider that they may lose customers for future cruises to competitors who fulfil the same services they do but in a fairer manner. Read Less

This was our 6th cruise, second on X and First on a Millenium Class Ship. Everything on this cruise was better than expected, including the superb weather. We loved the ship, the crew, the food and the entertainment. We booked another cruise while on board. The ship as mentioned in other reviews is not new; however it is very well maintained and nothing in relation of the ship's age impacted negatively our cruise experience. Embarkation was a breeze (15 minutes for security, 15 minutes for customs and 10 minutes for boarding.) Disembarkation and embarkation was smooth at every port of call except Ketchikan where a small delay occurred: it took 10-15 minutes. Final Debarkation in Vancouver using the self-assist process went extremely well. We were on the street, passed customs with our luggage in 15 minutes. This was our fastest debarkation process so far! Cabin 9057: Aquaclass. Very similar to the veranda cabin we had on Solstice. Very clean, well maintained. Loved the balcony with the large overhang protecting against rain and wind. No issue with noise from the deck above. The multijets shower was impressive. Plenty of storage space. Demineralized water and extension cord for my wife's CPAP were already in our cabin upon arrival. Bravo and thank-you to Racquel, who took good care of us in a very discrete yet efficient fashion! Food: Service at the BLU restaurant was attentive, efficient, personalized. Fantastic Experience! Bravos to Olgica, Carlos, Everson, Miller, Rina, Vivie, Jonathan! Bravo also to our sommelier Fernando, who really did a good job at enhancing our dinner experience and taught a nice wine/food pairing seminar. Fun and instructive! We ate most dinners and breakfast in Blu. Did not try specialty restaurants on this cruise. The food in BLU was excellent! We loved every meal, in particular, lobster night. Now that we are ashore, we already miss Blu. Food in the Main Dining Room for lunch was good to excellent as well. We really had no issues there, however, we did not use it very often. (twice I believe). Food at the Oceanview Cafe was good. I loved the pasta bar. However, finding a table at that OVC can be tricky at times. Cafe Al Bacio, and Mast Grill Bar all obtain good to excellent mark as well. Entertainment and activities: Luigi (Cruise director) and his staff did an excellent job. The production shows were well done and entertaining. We really enjoyed them, even more that last year's shows on Solstice. We went to all the late night shows except on the first night, due to travel fatigue. Games such as trivia, True or False, Minute to win it, Paper Airplane competition, Silent Disco and music throughout the ship kept us entertained and pleased. This was in addition to whale and nature watching! Captain and crew did a magnificent job in bringing the ship so close to Hubbard Glacier and by doing a 360 degree turn so that all staterooms with a view could take a look at this magnificent glacier. It was a unique and phenomenal experience! Service/employees at Guest Relation, Shore Excursion and Future Cruise were helpful and efficient! Ports: We took Celebrity Excursions for each of the port of calls: Icy Strait Point: We had a fabulous time. Weather was beautiful. Humpback whales were present in port wot welcome our ship! During the Rain Forest walk\Whale watching excursion, we saw bald eagles, a pacific coastal brown bear, a spirit bear, a deer and lastly more whales. Including one humpback whale who put on a show for us, by breaching three times and then swimming on its side to show all her fins. We will not forget this fabulous day! Juneau: Rain forest walk to Mendenhall Glacier and another whale watching tour. The walk was beautiful, and observing a mother black bear in the trees with her baby cubs swinging at the top of other threes a bit further, made our day! The arrival in front of Mendenhall Glacier was impressive. Wow! Ketchikan: Another rain forest walk. This was not a bad tour, but the visit at Betton Island did not reveal any of the fauna we had hoped to see. This said, was saw during the boat ride, a very large eagle nest with two beautiful bald eagles supervising the situation. The trees and flora at Betton Island were quite impressive though. All and all, we experienced a fabulous cruise and enjoyed every moment! It is an experience we will remember. I would recommend this cruise and Infinity without hesitation! (Just beware, by all accounts we were extremely lucky on this cruise regarding weather: we had very few rain showers and short ones only which contributed to our unique experience.) Fitness and Spa: We tried the gym one (it was a bit crowded and difficult to find an apparel, but we were able to do our workout) and we also tried the Persian Gardens once. The view from the "inside" Persian Gardens on Infinity was not as nice as the view from the same room on Solstice which was spectacular. This said, were were able to try all the rooms and really enjoyed the experience. Thank you very much Celebrity and in particular, to all the crew of Celebrity Infinity! Read Less

The Panama Canal has always been a bucket list item for my wife and I. When two couples, we often cruise with called to say they had booked it we were in. The itinerary included Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama (of course) and Colombia, all places we'd never seen so we couldn't wait. The ship sailed from San Diego, a town I've always enjoyed so we decided to go out 3 nights ahead of our sail date to get a start on relaxing. There is so much to do out there I'd definitely recommend going out early. We stayed at the Hilton in the Gaslamp District. Its close to entertainment but still only a short walk or ride to the waterfront. Something I'd never seen before are rental bikes and scooters. An app put on your phone allows you to "unlock" electric scooters or bicycles that are scattered all over the place. You're only charged for the time you use them. When you're done you just park them and end your ride. It's a lot cheaper than cabs or Uber. One little note, watch out for curbs or you'll end up with road rash and seven stitches in your head like I did...but that another story. Embarkation: The Infinity had just come out of a dry dock repair of propulsion systems and arrived in San Diego without passengers. Infinity arrived later than expected and had to do some clearances that delayed boarding. Since the boarding times were compressed, everyone had to board in a shorter time. It was pretty bad. They ran out of boarding cards at some point and people with priority boarding times did not get the smooth boarding they expected. Some folks were pretty upset about it. Frankly it didn't affect us much because part of that time I was in an ER getting stitched up from my scooter mishap and as we don't have status on Celebrity we were pretty much stuck with the masses anyhow. I do think this was more of a circumstantial situation than a problem with the processes at the San Diego terminal. The Ship: I'd read many comments about the Infinity looking worn. In some places that is an understatement. In other parts of the ship it was not visible at all. Parts of the pool deck are definitely in need of some overhaul. Restaurants, lounges and much of the inside spaces are clean and in pretty good shape. Everybody has different expectations in this regard but I can honestly say while some of the appearance of the Infinity was noticeable and a little surprising, it did not detract from our cruise experience in the least. Our Cabin: We were in 8124, a Concierge class cabin on the starboard side pretty close to mid ship. It was nice, but frankly nothing any more special than a balcony cabin on Carnival. Bed comfort is of course very subjective but my wife thought the beds were a little hard. Our steward brought a foam topper the second day and it was fine from there. Storage was plentiful even for two people who tend to over pack. There's not much more detail I can really provide. Food: The food was probably among the best we've had at sea in a long time. Ok, a cruise on Oceania a couple years ago might have been better and our first cruise on Celebrity was at least as good. I didn't have a bad meal or even a so-so meal our entire 15 nights. We bought a specialty package of 6 meals. We did 4 meals in The Tuscan Grill and 2 in QSine. All were good. QSine was an interesting experience. It ended up being way to much food, but here were so many foods that we wanted to try. We learned later that they are really good about giving smaller portions if you just ask. taste was great, presentation inventive and fun. The staff was very helpful in navigating the menu and arranging your selections. Food in the Main Dining Room was great, service was excellent. Frankly, had I known the food in the MDR would be so good I'd have bought fewer specialty meals. Service and Staff: Outstanding! Did I mention we had an outbreak of Noro on this cruise? The staff busted their butts with smiles on their faces to help do their part to keep things under control with out detracting from our cruise experience. I really can't say enough good things about the staff. Everyone was always smiling, greeting guests, often by name. We always pick a pool area bar as out daily "go to" and the guys at the Mast Bar were an absolute joy. By the second afternoon they knew our names and our drinks of choice. Entertainment and Activities: There were plenty I'm sure. Sorry, but we are pretty shallow in those regards. Pool bar, relaxing, reading and visiting with other guests is all we do. One couple we were traveling with went to daily lectures and said they were good. We did catch part of one show. It seemed much better than any of the shows we've peeked into on Carnival ships. Shore Excursions: Not a great experience all in all. Again, its pretty subjective and depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Some of it was probably our choices and our expectations. Cartegena, Colombia is probably the one city I'd like to go back to. We did a beach excursion (relaxing on a beach with drinks is our thing) but there was history and culture in Cartegena that we'd have enjoyed too. All I can say is do lots of research before booking your excursions. I wasn't too impressed with the staff at the Excursions Desk. They either didn't know or left out details about excursions like hour and a half bus rides to destinations that might have been good to know. Again, maybe some of the blame is ours. To Sum it Up; Despite the Noro outbreak and some less than fantastic excursions we had a wonderful time on the Celebrity Infinity. The staff was superb, the food great and it was an interesting itinerary. Not sure we'd repeat that trip. The Canal was fascinating but after 8 hours of locks I've probably seen all I need to. Friends were going, we decided it looked like fun. It was in some ways, but the previously mentioned issues with the engine system slowed the ship down to the point that shore stops were cut short. Exceptional - entertainment was very good, our cabin attendant was incredible, dining experiences were excellent.Going through the canal for the first time was incredible. I enjoyed the days at sea, the spouse not so much. We had an open sea dolphin show on one of those days! We loved the flexible time dining room option and never had an issue with any requested seating arrangement. We went 2 days early and purchased the hotel and transfer from the cruise line. The hotel was excellent, as was the transfer from Santiago to San Antonio. Not so great - the shore destinations were mediocre, as were most of the described (way overpriced) shore excursion possibilities. We did our own shore arrangements. The stop at Manta was a complete waste. Our room had a sewage odor that the crew attempted to fix. It went away for a while, then came back the last few days. The ship's exterior was showing significant wear and corrosion. I heard that the ship was going to Panama to spend some time in dry dock. It needs it. Read Less

After sailing with Royal Carribean 17 times we saw a South America itinary and chose the other side, Celebrity Infinity. We used the pre cruise hotel and transfer that was great hotel and slick smooth transfer of approx. 1 hour 30 min. On arrival there were orderly lines and clear instruction to leave luggage. A short walk to the pre boarding hall and booking in process. Plenty of seats, water and soft drinks and special signage for elite and above passengers. As with every cruise there are lines for everyone to stand in. Suite / aqua passengers think they should be before everyone, although if its a first cruise they dont know this. Elite and elite plus try to get ahead of the higher standard class but it rarely comes off. So the process takes about 30 minutes which ever line you are in. Straight to the ship after scanning your bags and smashing your bottles of wine as the passengers in front did. Right, we are on...... Our first Celebrity cruise and we get elite status as we are just short of elite plus. Chests out, cards in hand lets check the ship. We did notice instantly that the ship is dated, some rust on the outside, blue paint clearly fading and windows very dirty. We did know this was an old ship and you can tell if you are an experienced cruiser. Hand gel on we went to the Ocean view cafe as we are not always keen on the restraunts. More hand gel, as it should be and we are in. Smiling staff and great selection of food for all. Lots of choice and we walk through to the rear where there is a fantastic outdoor seating area, we spend most of out 15 days of eating time here. Live music at 2000 hrs in the evening simply a delight. Passengers fed all on and away from Sandiago Chili. We have a great cruise and the passengers were quite charming. We are world travellers and have in fact left out jobs at 46 to travel for a few years so are very experienced. We have never been on such a calm and restful cruise with such interesting passengers. Anyway I must get on with the review..... The gym is small but has a good selection of equipment. The Spa and Spa pool are very standard but clean and fresh with great staff. There is food served by the inside pool most of the day and very healthy food at that. The general pool area is clean and tide and salt water in the pools. There is a bar above with a small running track that we did manage over 50 miles on over the 15 days. There are a few good windy sunbathing areas on deck 11 around the Constellation bar that serves as the Captains Club free drink bar from 5pm to 7pm. We did not use the speciality restaurants but they all appeared very nice and were busy. Deck 9 had the ilounge, a haven for 60 - 85 year olds who could not do without the internet, but at nearly $300 for the cruise we used the free 90 min we got over the same period. A libary on deck 8 but a small selection that could do with more books. A chess set and drafts but both went missing as people took them away for use around the ship, not cricket really. Deck 5 sees all the normal shops and a special apple shop that did not sell much really, ipads earphones and speakers were about it, we did not see the point really. Casino as always there and stinking of smoke as normal. We never go through on any ship and it makes our clothes smell of smoke. Down to the photography area a special access bar and theatre, all pretty standard really but in good condition. The evening shows were very good but did not seem to be full. Lots of live music around the ship all cruise was excellent. No strictly formal evening but we did see a couple of posh gentleman in the attire. We attended the Trellis restaurant once but a bit too fussy and to be honest we were hungry when we left and went up stairs to the Ocean View cafe for some food. All in all a great cruise with great passengers. We did our own thing off the ship so did not do any Ship excursions as they were expensive. A very tired ship that was then going to dry dock for repairs to an engine and hopefully for the windows to be cleaned and some painting done. One sour note though. On leaving the ship at Fort Lauderdale there was a 4 hour wait to get through immigration for none uUSA passport holders. Disgraceful really and not a Celebrity staff member in site. We would do Celebrity again we enjoyed it but we are 2 points off diamond plus for Royal Carribean so need to get those points first. Keep travelling everyone and remember this little fact the americans told me. If you have kids and you go cruising you are going on a SKI holiday...... We chose this cruise to experience some latin flavour and of coarse Cape Horn... a Magellan dream. The facts are: Buenos Aris port where the ship docked for two days is awful. Shipping containers, strattle-carriers, trucks constantly beeping, jackhammers, noisy port. The ship was sandwiched between mountains of shipping containers,affording the view. One could literally taste the pollution, using the balcony was impossible. Our aqua class room: We arrived exhausted. Our bags were in the hall. I asked the attendant if he could put the bed protectors on the bedding as I didn't want to put our luggage on the clean white comforter. He said,'they did not do that anymore???' I asked were the fresh flowers were, the fruit basket, the champagne our bottled water? ''They do not do that anymore. But if I ask he will bring the champagne.' We noticed in unpacking that there was only one robe and no wine glasses. Upon request those were provide. A crumpled up robe was handed over. We also noticed that the bottle of vodka we ordered was not delivered. To unravel that it took three days and several calls to guest services, even though we had our order and confirmation numbers. ( as and aside our cost was $106.00 and the ship stores sold the same vodka 2 bottles for $30...) Montevideo featured a busy working port thankfully not on the same scale as Buenos Ares. We finally relaxed on our balcony. I thought the balcony had been cleaned, my clothing proved otherwise. Three days of filthy had not been touched... I used a white dampened hand towel which came out blackened and filthy from the railing, table and chairs, I called our attendant and showed him my stained clothing and filthy towel. The Captain never mentioned that the ship was in anyway compromised from the start. We were told that our safety was his main concern... We missed Port ARENAS and were given back to our account whatever number they made up. Port Montt was also missed, so to speak... our scheduled arrival was for 8:00 am... that was changed to 1:30 pm (at which time we were still crawling into port). We were tender #3 and at 3:00pm, we hand not been called. We were warned that the last tender leaving port would leave the dock at 6:45pm. How is this visiting Port Montt??? Our celebrity cruise ended in San Antonio. We were hours late arriving and missed our car to Santiago. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the destination. I also had fond memories of her sister ship Millennium. It was the last trip to Antarctica (next year it will be a Solstice class ship). We were very lucky with the weather. The previous cruise in January was not so lucky but we had calm seas for the most part with really only one day that was a bit rough. Cape Horn was dead flat, when there was fog it magically cleared as we arrived and at Elephant Island drifted back as we left. It was simply good luck and I felt sorry reading the reviews of the previous cruise. The ship is an older ship but we found it well maintained. If you looked hard you could find faults but compared to what I was expecting it was better than I thought. We booked an Aqua class cabin and the meals were excellent. The cabin itself seemed no different to a balcony but access to Blu was great. We also tried the specialty restaurants and enjoyed them all but Tuscan Grill was a real highlight. We had a problem with our cabin with the carpet getting wet. Its as frustrating but the crew went above an beyond to both fix the problem and make it up to us for the inconvenience. They were so nice about it I was feeling like I had Stockholm Syndrome, you know when you are kidnapped you feel sorry for the Kidnappers! I was embarrassed telling them its as still faulty given how hard they worked to fix it. In the end we switched cabins, the old one was 7095 (I hope its fixed if you have that one!) we moved to 1142 at the rear. The crew overall are just outstanding at all levels. Through stupidity I broke my ankle on the way home at the Falklands, the medical care was excellent, the restaurant staff were totally accomodating, our cabin stewards wife is a Physiotherapist and he arranged pillows and ice packs, right up to Jaan the head housekeeper and Srdjan the Hotel Director it was clearly a happy, highly motivated crew absolutely focused on passengers having a great time. We have sailed on Seabourn and it was to that standard, very attentive and impressive. I guess in terms of advice I would offer to have realistic expectations about the age of the ship and look for the crew to make up any slight shortcomings. If things go wrong raise them and let them make it right, they were very genuine to us. Try the specialty restaurants. QSine was fun and funky, they offered a pack of 3 or more restaurants for discount price, if I did this again I would grab that. The al Bacio cafe deck 5 great coffee if you are hanging out for a flat white the cappuccino's are next best and those macadamia nut cookies, fantastic. The cocktails at the bar opposite were excellent also, especially the smoked ones! Another point to raise is Mickey Live. he is such an asset, his sense of humour, knowledge and the way he got things across was exceptional and his presentations were all standing room only. We did ships tour which we found fascinating, exactly what do you do with all those empty bottles......4 engines, 1 diesel, 2 jet engines and steam engine...fascinating. The laundry, the bridge, the engine control room, really interesting to see behind the scenes. The propulsion problem we were told and they appeared very open was that they had excessive vibration at high speed on one Azipod so as a precaution were running at reduced speed. The slower speed meant they missed one port day so they paid 1 x 14th credit as compensation which we thought was fair. There were only 3 ports the rest sea days so I can understand how frustrating its as to the earlier cruise missing the Falklands but given the route was through the roaring 40's Ferocious 50's and Screaming 60's I think you have to accept some chance of bad weather. So overall injury and cabin hassles not withstanding we had a great time the scenery and wildlife was everything we hoped for. My wife as on our balcony when awhile surfaced so close the sound of the spout startled her (she said only 20 feet away). It was an amazing trip and hats off to all the crew, they made it very special. Read Less

First of all, for the folks on the Jan. Cruise. I get it. I would have been disappointed as well. But I can only speak of the Feb Cruise. We were warned in advance to the propulsion problems. It had virtually no affect on the cruise. Top speed was 20 mph and we got everywhere on time. As smooth as any cruise I have been on. Were told in advance that we would get a refund for Puerto Madryn and I personally would rather have the money than the port. This was a 50th anniversary cruise for us and yes we were the fools on stage during the marriage game (the one that involved a lime) The ship-Yes it's old and does not have all the bells and whistles. Nothing that affected my enjoyment. It was clean and the entire staff was Great. Embarkation in Buenos Aires-crowded as usual, but we were onboard in about 45 minutes. Entertainment-about standard for cruise ships. Nothing bad and nothing exceptional. Good but I would probably not pay to see any of them. We did not go to any of the productions because we saw them on on a previous cruise. We had seen some of the individual acts before also Food-Excellemt. We ate almost every meal in the Luminae. Food was good and different menu every night. Hats off to the entire staff. Too many to name but they were all fantastic. Ushuaia-took an excursion to the National park. Had to ride a bus on a gravel road and by luck, we had to sit just over the back axel. Very rough ride. Some nice stops but I was expection more. Wish we would have had more time in the town. I would probably do something different if I every went back. Cape Horn-Unbelievably smooth waters. Now I have been there. Antartica-Words or pictures cannot describe it. Not as cold as I had thought and we overpacked. Spent quite a bit of time there doing 360's Falkland Islands-went to the sheep farm. Glad to see some of the countryside. The entire island only has 2100 people. Had plenty of time to walk around. There is a shuttle to Gypsy cove that we also took to see penguins. $20 Montevideo-Took a city tour that my travel agent provided. Nice city. Safe and you can walk from one end to the other. There is a market just off the ship that I would recommend walking to Internet-horrible. Very slow and kicked me off regularly. Worked somewhat better in public places. And to be honest it worked better on last cruise when I stayed on 9th deck. Enrichment programs-Probably the best I have experienced. Disembarkation-Just picked up bags and walked out. We stayed another day so we went to the Sheraton. Outside was a madhouse of people soliciting cabs. Choose Uber or walk across street to get best prices. Or take $28 shuttle from ship to airport Uber-works well in Buenos Aires and I would recommend it if you have access to the internet. $25 total for the two of us from Sheraton to airport. Once in a lifetime trip and probably won't go again but I would highly recommend it. Read Less

We were expecting to visit the Antarctica and to see the wildlife in Puerto Madryn and in Port Stanley on this cruise. Though we visited (cruised by but not actually stop at) Paradise bay and Elephant island in Antartica, we were completely shut out of experiencing visit with wildlife such as the Penguins due to technical issues with the ship's propulsion system, speed reduction, poor planning and poor weather. The management of the Cruise ship certainly had enough advance information, based on past experience, on the expected weather on probability of making anticipated ports of call at Puerto Madryn and Port Stanley. With advance information on the Ship's propulsion system they decided to travel slow and cancelled Puerto Madryn. They could have kept alive the option to visit Puerto Madryn, in the event Port Stanley had to be cancelled due to severe weather. While we do not fault them for not accepting the weather risk at Falkland Islands, we do fault them for poor trip planning having cancelled Puerto Madryn at the outset to compensate for the slow speed of travel due to propulsion problem. This made for a long 10 day sea voyage ( out of total 14 days) from Ushuaia to Montevideo resulting in monotonous boring Cruise experience. Since we only had very few options available to see Antarctica & Penguins, we felt victimized by Celebrity Cruises ruining our once in a lifetime vacation. Dining and entertainment activities were average to better than average. There was too much selling activities T shirts, jewelry, watches, paintings, future cruises, photography, etc. Staff was very good in most food and drink areas, except at customer service where staff was not helpful. Very defensive not attempting to address customer complaints or concerns. Read Less

We bought our tickets in November but most of the other passengers bought theirs far earlier than us. However Celebrity failed to let us know the ship was only sailing with one propeller which slowed down its performance so much that we arrived in Ushuaia seven hours after the scheduled time. All tours were rushed and by the time we finished the tour all shops and museums were closed for the day. It was our intention to visit this far away place thoroughly and experience the life here. Then we were supposed to circle Cape Horn, but the ship just went a little north then turned around. When we got to Elephant Bay the ship was not able to get close to the shore because it did not have enough force. We did not stop in Port Stanley because of the weather and our next stop, Port Madryn, was canceled. We were on board for 12 days out of the 14-day cruise. This ship was working with only one propeller for a long time. Celebrity was well aware of this problem yet it chose not to disclose it so as not give the passengers the right to cancel the trip without penalties. It is still sailing north and back to Antartica without any plans to stop to fix the problem. Read Less

overall we had a really great time. This is our second cruise with Celebrity after cruising many times with Princess (who we love). We chose Celebrity over Princess because they had a Sunday departure rather than a Wednesday departure and it was easier for us with our work schedules. It was more expensive than Princess, but the dates worked better for us, so we chose this cruise. Flights: We booked through Celebrity Air. We have learned after years of cruising and having departure/arrival ports changed last minute and other ports of call changed last minute, as well as having a few heath scares, that airfare flexibility and travel insurance is a must for us. We wanted to fly economy going and business class return. This was something that Celebrity Air was unable to do for us. The prices kept changing each day, going up and up, and we kept getting different answers from the Celebrity Air team, so finally we just booked business class return through Celebrity Air. I checked the prices again after we booked it and it never went down. Keep in mind only AA and United and a few other airlines have real business class seats. Copa air is cheaper but they have small planes and do not have sleeper seats. We were happy to fly with United. We had a snow storm in NYC/NJ area the day prior to our flight but we were fortunate to fly out on time and catch our connecting flight. We heard of many folks on the cruise who either missed their flights or who were stuck or grounded. Another reason we were happy we got our flights through Celebrity. It eliminates the hassle and their prices were competitive. We always use Princess Air now too. Santiago Airport: So you will receive a receipt when you go through customs and immigration in Santiago, Chile. Please keep this as it is important. We realized that you need it to get out of the country. In our case we needed to give it to the ship when we embarked. We also used it at the hotel to waive the local taxes from our hotel bill! Some call it a tourist card, but it's a paper receipt in case you want to know what it's for please keep it. We grabbed a taxi from the airport by visiting the taxi counter which is outside of customs. They have 2 counters, 2 lines. One is for metered taxi's and the other is for a lump sum fare. We paid the lump sum and it was $40 US to take us to the hotel. You pay by credit card and they give you a receipt. We didn't have to exchange any money the entire trip! We used USD and credit cards the whole time! Santiago: we had an overnight in Santiago as our flight arrived on time on Saturday morning. We stayed at the Renaissance Santiago Hotel which was very nice. We chose not to venture out and instead caught up on our sleep as the hotel didn't have a safe in the room. We were afraid to bring valuables with us or leave them in the room (not being in a safe). Pickpockets can be a huge issue in Santiago, so we didn't bother exploring. We were well rested by Sunday. We had breakfast and then headed to the airport again to catch our ship transfer to the ship from the airport. Note: we used the hotel taxi which cost us about $50 but it was safer than using a random metered taxi. At first I had a hard time buying the Celebrity Transfer from the airport to the ship as we arrived the day prior. I simply called them and told them we were flying on Sat. from Santiago to somewhere else and returning to the airport on Sunday via another flight (I made one up) and they were able to process it. So stupid, but it worked! They didn't have us on their list, but they did charge me and I had a receipt for the charge for the transfer so I showed the email receipt to the transfer agent and she said ok and added our names to the transfer list. It was much easier and likely cheaper than a private transfer to the port, and safer I believe. Embarkation: very simple. We had Concierge class so we were off the bus, in the pier and on the ship within 15 mins'! Room: it was very dirty upon arrival, likely because the people in it before us were there for 14 days too, lol. Seriously though, the room we were in allowed for 3 people before us, as there was a pull out sofa that was lifted up and had been used, so it was a well used room, and was extra dirty likely. We bring Lysol wipes with us and wiped down the door handles, remote, light switches, phone, toilet, etc. so we figured they would do a better cleaning in days to come, which they did. The bed and sheets were clean as was the shower curtain so I was ok to move in!! :) Also our room steward brought us slipper upon request and always knew when we were in/out and took great care of us. He was much better than the room steward on our last Celebrity cruise who we never saw. We saw this room steward all the time!! Jan 9th Puerto Montt, Chile: We chose the Celebrity tour Peurto Varas and Frutillar. It was very nice! Puerto Varas we very pretty, we had a half hour to walk around town. We tried some fried empanadas which were good and then took some photos of the volcano that was in the distance from the lake. It was overcast, so it was barely visible. When we got to Frutillar (located on he same lake a few miles down) the volcano was more visible. I wish we had more time in Frutillar. We only had about an hour. We would have loved to had some food and drinks, but we spent all our time sightseeing! It was lovely! January 11th Chilean Fjords & Straight of Magellan: All the stuff to see was in the wee morning hours. We were up at 5am! We did see amazing sunsets and amazing cascades of waterfalls, but my gosh it is so early! So I can see if they change the port times, you can easily miss all this amazing stuff. I dono the answer but I'm curious about the trip in the opposite direction and if they had better viewing times??? Mikey Live is the outdors curator for the cruise and he is amazing! you will meet him and his family and love them https://www.facebook.com/mickey.live Punta Arenas, Chile: Our Penguin tour to the Island was cancelled, but just as well!! :) The ferries were broke, I say it was meant to be :) We had an amazing Penguin tour later on in Puerto Madryn with Celebrity! We instead walked around and had a fun day. You can see the church and Cemetery and lots of stuff on your own if you are able to walk! Great port to just walk around. Ushuai, Argentina: This was the first port that we really loved! We walked around, saw some cool shops (bought a souvenir penguin - if you do this anywhere do this here) and we wish we bought a baseball cap but we forgot! We had an amazing lunch near the port at a restaurant with meat and wine. It was fabulous! Cape Horn: Again early rise for us! Saw a lot and it was raining but we got out in the elements and enjoyed what is cape horn! Peurto Madryn: Took the ship tour to El Pedral Lodge. WE loved this tour! Saw Punta Ninfas, and Morro Nuevo. WE saw the most amazing penguins. This is the closest penguin tour to the ship and it included and amazing lunch and was well worth it!! Punta Del Este, Uruguay: Instead of a beach day we decided to book at tour to the winery with a picnic. We got off the ship and walked fast to the "hand" to get a photo then grabbed a taxi back in time for our tour that left from the pier to the winery with a picnic. Our least favorite tour. If you can get the winery with a proper lunch you a set. The picnic sandwich was gross and the wine was only about a glass and a half. Quite disappointing and expensive for we way/experienced! Montevideo, Uruguay: The best port to do on your own! If you can walk you can tour the old and new town in a few hour then have an amazing meal like we did near the port! It was incredible! Buenos Aries: We did a ship tour on day 1. We wanted piece of mind with all the pick pockets. Bear in mind we come from NYC and we don't have anything like what they have in Argentina, so we took a ship's tour. It was great! We did the market's tour. 4 hours of markets. Very cool. Then we took the dinner and Tango tour at night. Well worth every Penny! the Tango tour was amazing!! Day 2 we did the "Best of Buenos Aries tour" and it was great. We saw some different things in BA and then saw the Gauchos and had a nice lunch before being dropped off at the airport! Read Less

Disappointed with the Infinity- one of the older ships, dated decor and I believe due to be de-commissioned later this year to make way for the new Celebrity range. Cabin was clean but small with basic balcony. The cruise was ruined by unruly kids whose parents took no notice whatsoever of them running wild- through the restaurants including climbing the trellis, barging through the middle of the dance floor and eating burgers in the Jacuzzi. My husband pointed out to the waiters who seemed powerless to intervene. The resturant was immpossible to get into without a 2+ hour wait unless you wanted to eat at 5.30pm. The reason given was so many Spanish families had booked on this cruise and liked to eat late. The first eve we ate at 11.30pm deapite the resturant supposedly closing at 9.30pm One of the main reasons for out S American adventure was the Chilean Fiords. Unfortunately it was impossible to hear the speaker due to microphone malfunction plus having an open bar with many people talking and children running around. Totally ruined our experience Lastly I think it is important to realise that over xmas there will be a lot of families with children running around. On this cruise over 1/3rd were under age 21yrs. This was never explained to us by our travel agent and something we hadn't anticipated, and certainly will be something we will take into consideration going forward This cruise was marketed as a six star cruise. That it is certainly not. Forget gala balls and new years dances- more like turn up in ripped jeans and baseball hats. There wasnt even a xmas cracker or party hat on the table Very disappointed and will be crossing Celebrity off our list of further cruises Read Less

This cruise was to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We like Celebrity and had been on Infinity for a prior cruise (Hawaii). We flew to Ft. Lauderdale the day before and spent the night at Hyatt Place.We took the hotel shuttle ($7 each) to the port at 10:00am. No long lines, easy process. We're Captain Club Select, we had a specific waiting area for priority boarding. By 11:00am we were on the ship. We were in regular veranda cabin 7078. Our room steward gave us a bottle of chilled champagne for our anniversary. This was our first experience with a beverage package. We had Classic. We found plenty of choices. This cruise had a good combination of ports and sea days. All our shore excursions were booked through Celebrity. In Cartegena we did a boat tour of the bay and a walking tour of old town. For Panama we did a boat tour on Gatun Lake. Costa Rica was a hike in the cloud forest. Cabo was one of the best we've ever done, a sailing/snorkel tour with Cabo Adventures.. We had Anytime Dining, we ate at 5:30 and were finished in time for the first seating of the shows. We were able to get the same table each night by making reservations. The food was good, service was excellent. Our waiter brought a cake and sang to us for our anniversary. We had breakfasts and most lunches in the buffet. The food was good and we were always able to find an empty table. We had enjoyed the Spa Cafe on previous cruises and were disappointment in the cutbacks on what was offered there this time. The burgers and fries at the pool grill were delicious. The highlight of the trip was of course going through the canal. We were allowed onto the helipad for part of the transit. The canal lectures and commentary by Bill Fall were superb. We went through the old locks, could see some huge cargo ships at times in the new locks. Yes Infinity is an older ship but we found all to be in good working order. The crew was fantastic. Disembarkation at San Diego was quick and efficient. They asked for all non-US to meet in a lounge, the rest of us were called by color/number from designated waiting areas. Didn't have to fill out Customs forms, we walked with our luggage to checkpoint and were only asked to show passports. Read Less

The wife and I live on the West coast, and as such are as we say "cruise starved". We found this cruise 1.5 years ago and jumped on it, anytime we can go on a cruise and not involve an airport we're in. Being mostly Princess customers, but having sailed RCI and Carnival until now, decided to give Celebrity a try and also went for aqua class. As I had heard we were met with a glass of champagne, and proceeded into our ship. I was a different style of build than we were used to, but quite elegant...the artwork was unusual I will say. Overall the condition of the ship is OK considering it's 16 years old, though much of it's furniture should be replaced. Our cabin was just what we had been accustomed to, the bed was comfy, nice linens, though honestly if you can see your hand through a washcloth I'ts pretty thin. Loved the shower, we had an extended balcony due to cabin location and we loved it. Our cabin steward we had yet to meet after two days, then we passed her in the hall, her name was Lin and she works tirelessly throughout the day...I really think they might require too many cabins to maintain, each time we saw her she seemed really tired and frantic, we tipped her extra I felt badly for her. Now on to food.....we were happy to have the Blu option, we liked most of the food and only had one morning breakfast incident to report. It just took forever to get my food the second morning. My head was exploding, while my wife was eating her meal. I got my plate and finished way later than my wife. Other than that time, service was very good, most seemed very happy and friendly. We found food in the buffet was quite typical of what we've seen on other lines. The gelato bar seems to be a complete waste of space in our opinions. The ice cream is so good in the buffet nobody was getting any, the girl had nothing to do anytime we looked....we tried one time and it was OK but nothing to go back for. Speaking of wasted spaces.....what about that "Sushi on five"...? We never got to go try it however it was on our "to do" list all week. Never many people there the many times we went by. Loved the salmon in the Spa cafe, it was right above our room so it was easy and healthier if we ate there. A few things I wish....I wish they'd put ice in the smoothies did not like warm, I wish there were an ice machine no way to ice down drinks. We used the Persian gardens three times enjoying the experience but it is a "cave" in there. Entertainment was great overall, we found a newly formed band called the Brian James band and thought they were the best band on board, each time we heard them crowds were large and their music for us had the best sound. Speaking of which, if you have a chance to get to a "silent party" by all means do. They pass out headphones each of which has three channels to listen to your style of music, each channel has a different color ear lights so it's a room full of folks dancing with no sound, the looks you'd see by folks walking into it was great. We had a conga line, this is in the martini bar...it was a hoot. Movies up on terrace we watched only one all week, they had lots of sci-fy stuff did not interest us. I was able to smoke my cigars up on deck 11 port side, the space on 10 portside had sitting areas with furniture so low it was hard to get out of your seat, heard many complaints. Luigi our CD did a good job, the theater shows are good. Overall we figure we'd sail Celebrity again, but not Infinity class. We'd like to sail the Solstice class and if we can group our status with RCI and get a good deal might. Blu is nice having more personal service for sure, Fernando the wine guy is great, we had lunch twice in the dining room it was OK and the noise and chaos we'd hear going past made us happy to have our quiet. Having the drink package was great, I did upgrade to premium but most likely would not again, I had two martinis and better liquor but in my case I don't really need to. My wife did not upgrade so we took it as an experiment to see it's value. Traveling up the California coast we enjoyed unbelievable weather, no marine layers anywhere, San Francisco was warm and clear sailing under the Golden Gate, sea day woke up to bright sunshine, the only clouds we had were in Ensenada in the morning. Hopefully we can get more cruises to come out here to the West coast, we heard on board the Infinity had not been here since 2013. One little thing I noticed that Celebrity does I've not seen until now, there are linen hand towels in the public restrooms that was a nice touch. Read Less

Wanting to stay stateside, this itinerary seems perfect. And it was! Infinity is an older ship, showing her age here and there, but she's well cared for and a nice size. Pre-cruise hotel was the Doubletree San Pedro - free shuttle, right on a marina, great views and staff. We were in Aqua for the first time and loved Blu. I understand it's not for everyone, but we loved the exceptional service and relaxed feel. (much quieter the Main Dining room) but not stuffy at all. The entertainment and activities were not up to what we are used to from Celebrity. Shows we didn't care for seemed very well received. It may be just a matter of taste. Service was topnotch everywhere on-board, with the glaring exception of our room steward. He wasn't awful, just barely adequate. Friends we traveled with had an excellent steward, so who knows.... Ports: Santa Barbara - we took an UN-air conditioned bus to Solvang, which turned a nice ride into an uncomfortable mess. I would stay in Santa Barbara and visit town and wonder why we can't live there. (it's pretty nice) San Francisco - overnight - what can you say, one of my favorite places. We took an excursion to Muir Woods, a place of natural beauty that should bring a lump to your throat. Our tour guide,Suzy, a SF native was terrific, funny , knowledgeable, and with an excellent signing voice. Monterrey - took an excursion to Carmel, one could easily spend several hours strolling it's streets. The 17 mile drive - More perfect vistas. Catalina - Never been before, a wonderful surprise. Rent a golf cart, take your time and enjoy. Another place I wish I could live! Ensenada - A mandatory non-US stop. We just strolled around and had a very vice day. Exceeded our low-expectations. Did I mention the weather?? Obviously out of our control, but it was spectacular. perfect in every port, even a bit of fog one day for variety. We enjoyed ourselves and will continue to sail Celebrity. I think we may prefer the solstice class ships, only because their design and technology have evolved. You lose just a bit of the intimacy, but hey, everything's a trade-off. Read Less

The ship is starting to get old. Some of the chairs in the Oceanview Grill Buffet are worn and legs wobbly. Crews were varnishing wooden areas near the pool and stairways trying to keep the ship upgraded which was good. The staff onboard is fabulous. They just want you to be happy and enjoy yourself and try their best to make sure you do. Entertainment in the Theatre is very good, but always too loud. They use live bands rather than pre-recorded music which is very nice. Sound technician needs to tone it down as the singers can sometimes sound like they are screaming. Trivia games are fun and dancing at the pool. Great cruise director (Luigi from Dom.Republic) makes the activities lots of fun. Cabins are spacious and well kept. Amenities are nice and cabin attendants are friendly and helpful. Dining rooms are very good. Lots of tables for 2 or more if you need them. Went on the cruise two weeks in a row (back to back) and enjoyed it both times. Read Less

We choose this cruise because we had never been to the west coast and we always had planned to drive the Pacific Coast Highway. When we saw this cruise option, we decided that it would be a great way to see lots of cities on the Pacific coast! We live on the east coast, and have taken many Caribbean cruises and two Mediterranean cruises, as well as several to Bermuda. We flew into LAX a day before the cruise and stayed in San Pedro at the Crown Plaza, which offered a shuttle to the cruise port. We liked the area very much, ate at a locals pizza place, and walked to church to attend Sat. Eve. Mass. Embarkation was quite easy, except for me walking away leaving my purse on the security belt. We were ready to board and I could not find it! We ran to the security people and they had found it and actually sent it onboard. A security guy escorted us onboard and it was waiting for me there. They had counted all the cash, which was a considerable amount, and I signed for it and we went onboard. Whew! We were very thankful they handled that so well. So, if you have a few bags going onboard, be sure you grab your purse off that conveyor. Everyone working on this ship are great. Very friendly and they just go out of their way to help with everything . Our room steward, Dillon was great, the waiters were also, and the bartentenders, Willy, Jonathon and others were so much fun.The martini bar at night was so entertaining, the bartenders would start an impromptu show and have everyone in hysterics. They always remembered us. The night they did the thing with the headsets was the best! Wish they had done it again, everyone was talking about how much fun they had that night! . We did the specialty restaurants 3 nights. Two at Tuscan Grill and one at Qsine. They were both very good. Qsine was so different and our waiter, Herbie , made it so much fun. We also did the premium beverage package which was expensive but we liked having whatever we wanted to drink, including cappacinos and expresses and water bottles whenever we wanted. The ports were all great, with the exception of Ensenada. Sorry Mexico, but I just felt uncomfortable there. Did the hop on bus in San Fran, went to Alcatraz, walked to Fishermans Wharf. The 17 mile tour in Monterey and Carmel was great. Rented a golf cart in Catalina, which was a beautiful place. Loved Santa Barbara. After the cruise, we took uber to Santa Monica, stayed at Oceanview on the beach. Great hotel, and there was a street festival going on when we got there which was great. The hotel clerk hooked us up with a private tour to Beverly Hills/Hollywood which was reasonable and very nice . Next day, rented a car and drove to San Diego where we stayed at the Catamaran for 3 nights, right on Mission Bay. Then we drove to Las Vegas, left San Diego at 5 am and saw the sun come up in the desert, very nice. This was not a relaxing vacation, but it was so much fun I would definitely do it again. The cruise is great, and I can't think of any cons. Go for it! Read Less

BACKGROUND: One year ago we tried Celebrity for the first time (Solstice, 7N Seattle to AK RT) based on its reputation for its food and luxurious accommodations. Because one of us needed to rent a mobiiity scooter (pending hip surgery) we opted for a somewhat larger cabin and switched from a standard balcony to a Sky Suite. The extra space was ideal for parking the contraption. Our adjacent neighbors acquainted us with the perks we were now entitled to as suite guests. They had a fondness for the suites-only Luminae Restaurant, so we joined them often and became mesmerized with this dining destination (complementary $). The food in there is at least equal or better than the specialty restaurants, and with tripled attention from servers. We were sold. So, we booked another Celebrity cruise, the Infinity (Vancouver, 7N to AK RT) for Sept 3, 2017. This time we booked a Celebrity Suite. Three days before the cruise, Celebrity phoned us to offer an upgrade to a Royal Suite for a reasonable extra charge, and we took it. PRE-CRUISE IN VANCOUVER: We spent two nights pre-cruise at the Pan Pacific Hotel, located on top of the Vancouver cruise terminal. Talk about convenience! Fabulous accommodations. Our room had a balcony overlooking the ships coming and going, along with dozens of float planes, copters and other vessels that kept our rapt attention. One perk (of many) - the hotel porters delivered our check-in luggage to the ship on embarcation day. We handed them over and we didn't see them until that afternoon in our cabin. Five stars to the Pan Pacific! THE SHIP: The Infinity is among the fleet's older boats, built after 2000, but refurbished to the Solstice quality level in 2015. Similarities to the Solstice are abundant and lovely. Being 91,000 tons (mid-sized), the ship felt large, but required less hiking for our old bones. Nice. Amenities were superb, the conditions of the carpets and furniture were pristine. DINING: We stuck with the Luminae mostly, but did adventure to Qsine for a "crab shack" dinner special that was delightful. In the Tuscany Grill we did their Captain's tasting menu with numerous wines paired to the many different foods laid before us. This compared somewhat with the version that we enjoyed on the Carnival Pride last year, but I'd give a slight edge to Carnival for presentation. Infinity's buffet was fine; we ate lunch in there twice. Their well-hidden Pasta/Pizza bar at the stern was impressive. We chose one of their semi-cooked pastas that was cooked further, while our custom ordered sauce and garlic/veggie/meat bits were heated in a skillet. They were artfully combined and we enjoyed that lunch al fresco. ENTERTAINMENT: we did very little in this regard, opting for the bars and balcony comforts. Much of the stage performances were shown on the stateroom flat-screens. SERVICE: Our Royal Suite came with a butler. A friendly, knowledgeable fellow, he jumped for any needs we had and suggested activities or food & beverages. We miss this level of attention back in the "real world!" PORTS: a ginormous shout-out for the whale and wildlife sighting excursion that we enjoyed at the Icy Strait stop. The guide said we'd gotten lucky, as a group of eight humpback whales cooperated to use a technique creating "bubble net feeding." One or more whales would dive low, blow a 30' wide circle of bubbles that rose. Schools of herring above would become tricked into congregating within this cylinder of bubbles. While they were packed together, the whales would simultaneously swim vertically within the bubble, and strain thousands of fish into their jaws. Their mouths would fill up like a Pelican. This presentation recurresd every 8-10 minutes for over an hour! Mind you, this was happening within 200' of our boat! Everyone got plenty of pictures; lots of oohs, aahs and wows! We cannot say enough about the Hubbard Glacier. This thing is gigantic: 6 miles wide, 400 feet tall, and 76 miles long, starting back in the Yukon. The ship gets in fairly close, but at a safe distance. We saw two calvings with large flumes of splashing sea, and heard the rumbling of maybe 20 more that we didn't spot. Alaska and Canada are special for cruising. The beautiful enormous mountains, fjords, glaciers cannot be matched in the Caribbean or Med. Did I mention the Martini Bar? That too was a worthy attraction for us. Two of our 5 booked future cruises are on Celebrity. Read Less
