Deluxe Veranda (1B) Cabin Reviews

Sail Date: October 2017
Good size cabin with plenty of space for everything. The bathroom was also a good size and had lots of storage. It was kept in great shape by Kadek, who did a wonderful job.

We had a nice balcony cabin. It was very comfortable. About the only complaint was there were only two electrical outlets located at the dressing table.

Cabin 8299 had a refrigerator stocked with cans of pop to purchase ($3 plus gratuity on each), so we asked the room steward to remove these, as well as the bottles of water available for purchase. This was done immediately, and we used the refrigerator for the pop we had brought on board with us for the remainder of the cruise. The rounded beds are comfortable, and fit well in the cabin configuration. At first we were stumped by the apparent lack of drawer space, but we requested, and received, extra hangers and had plenty of room to stow our belongings. I did use my carry on bag as a drawer for underwear stowed under the bed which worked out well. There are shelves above the bed (with a front drop down lid) that work well for folded shorts and tops. The balcony was more spacious than many and the chairs had an adjustable back. A foot rest would have been nice, but that's the only improvement I can think of. The cabin included a sofa long enough to stretch out completely. The coffee table was a convenient size for a room service tray. There were two US type outlets and one European outlet by the desk and these were the only ones available in the room. It was nice that the hair dryer and curling iron could be plugged in there where there was a mirror available as well as lighting. One cabin location factor I had not realized is that the cabins close to the elevator area on deck 3 would be very close to a very active area. This is where many bands and performers entertain guests all day and night. This would affect level 3 cabins more than any other. Read Less

The stateroom was fine. There is less storage than on Carnival and RCL, but it wasn't an issue for us. The bathroom with the larger shower was excellent. One issue I had was the corners of the rounded bed that were wrapped with a smooth metal plate. The legroom around the bed was very tight, so three times I bumped my knees on the plate and drew blood each time. I have three small scabs to show for it. A friend I was traveling with also hit his knee once as well. My wife never did though, but I think the design was not well-thought out. Read Less

This cabin is center of the ship, on the bump out. It's super convenient to the elevators and stairs and has a completely unobstructed view. Because the weather was poor some of the evening activities were held in the Grand Lobby. The music really boomed up and was very loud in the cabin, but it ended promptly at 11 pm. So if you go to bed early, this may not be a great location. As mentioned above, there was a lot of noise from the adjacent cabins. Read Less

This ship has been in the water for a number of years. so, the wear and tear is apparent. However, wear and tear having nothing to do with the cleanliness of the ship and our cabin was spotless. Berri, our attendant, was so friendly and happy and attentive. He was exactly what you want in a cabin attendant. We do the prepaid tips but gave Berri some $5 spots about every 3 days to show our appreciation. Read Less

9157 is a 'hub' cabin, which provides almost 50% more verandah space. You can't really do alot more with the extra space, but its wonderful to be a little removed from the conversations of your neighbours. We would look for this cabin again on a future cruise. Linens are great; room was maintained very well. We notice they no longer make the 'towel pets', and the room service menu was significantly reduced from our last cruise. Read Less
