We chose this cruise wanting to experience the Edge and the great Mediterranean itinerary. The highlights for us were the cleanliness of the ship, superb customer service, phenomenal food, and we loved the solarium pool. We were able to eat in all of the main dining rooms as well as a few specialty restaurants including le petite chef, Fine Cut Steakhouse, and the Rooftop Grill. We loved them all. While having dinner on the rooftop grill, the volcano on the island of Stromboli erupted . So surreal having dinner and watching a volcano erupt. We had drinks on two occasions on the magic carpet. Great spot fo happy hour. Our cabin steward Ricky kept our cabin so tidy. We had a sunset veranda room. Beautiful sunsets, however very hot in the afternoons. We loved Eden as well. Great spot for cocktails and to listen to music. The shopping options onboard were very limited unless you enjoy very high end shops. The only time the ship felt crowded was of course on sea days. Get a spot early if you don’t want to be in the sun all day. It was 95 degrees most days so very warm. Our favorite bar was the martini bar. You just have to give it a try. Definitely a step in the right direction for cruising. We have been on most cruise lines. This was hands down our favorite. We had some amazing shore excursions. Will post separate reviews of those. Lastly embarkation was a breeze. We arrived about 11:00. Since we were checks in online and downloaded our sea pass on the ap, we were on the ship in less than 10 minutes and laying by thepool and having lunch by 11:45. Make sure if you are cruising from Rome that you line up your transfers ahead of time. We used welcome pick ups and it was seamless. Keep in mind that if you are a group of 4 or more, consider using tours by locals or get your guide for private tours. Read Less

This is our eighth cruise, our sixth with Celebrity. We chose the Edge because we wanted something new, but trusted the company to provide us with the five-star treatment we've been used to. There are reviews from inexperienced new cruisers who loved it, and experienced cruisers who hated it (and a few in between). We weren't disappointed, so this review is aimed towards the semi-experienced cruiser who has previously been on Solstice class ships. The positives changes: - Check in and out, no lines at all. Great to get right to your room instead of hauling your carry-on up to the buffet. - Cabins were larger, with decent storage (when you moved all the art out of the way) and the bathroom very easily handled two adults with, shall we say, no small amount of "product". - Infinite Veranda came as advertised, seemed to open up the room, especially light-wise. Amazing to come into Malta and lie on the bed and see castle walls right there. Blackout shutter worked when you wanted it dark, bi-fold doors worked when you wanted light but privacy. - Food was either excellent (Eden, Le Petit Chef), or very good (Normandie MDR, buffet, Pool Grill). Both Eden and Le Petit Chef could be seen as kitschy (hey, its called "Edge" for a reason), but both the food and service were incredible. Our friends ate at the steak house and Raw and said the food was also excellent so if you want only "old school" specialty, you might want to skip the new places and try there. - Service was excellent, a few (obviously tired) crew near the end seemed to fade a bit, but Paul our cabin steward was amazing and our MDR crew very good. - The Flying Carpet was pretty amazing, nice view of Messalina and Etna as we sailed past Sicily at 8 in the morning. When we tendered it provided a great platform (and the new tenders are pretty nice too). When on the pool deck it was a great option from the very busy pool bar. - Cabanas: our friends splurged and got a cabana on the sea day, so I have no idea how much it cost, but it was a great experience, so it might be worth it for some. - Eden: we loved it. Beyond the actual setup, the service at the bar was excellent, the view amazing and during the day, it was a very quiet and uncrowded spot. The actual 10:15 show was fun if you like that Cirque de Soleil stuff, and don't miss the food options, which were a nice change from the buffet for breakfast. - Theater: we're not much into this aspect cruising, but went a few times for talks on the upcoming ports, as well as a couple of shows. Sound was amazing and the screens for the shows were great. - Other entertainment: one great solo male and solo female, (sorry, names aren't coming to me), one great band, one mediocre band. The negative changes (and some quibbles): - Shade. Yes, the Negative Nellies are actually not wrong. The Sunset Bar has little, the otherwise amazing Garden Deck basically none. Maybe this might work in Alaska or the Baltic, but not in the Mediterranean in August. We resorted to pulling chairs into the walkway for a breather. Although I didn't really miss the live grass, at least there is a canopy on the top deck of Solstice class. - Grand Plaza. Ok, not really that negative, but its certainly no Solstice. While many might not miss the atrium with the glass elevators up to the 14th floor, and the new Martini Bar is very nice, with the dance floor, multiple levels and "showtime" bartenders it wasn't near as nice as the Passport Bar. I think more would miss the size (and elegance) of the Passport Bar, Cellar Masters, Ensemble Lounge, the old Martini Bar (with the ice-counter), the World Class Bar, and the Sky Lounge. - Mast Bar is gone, which was my "go to" as you could get a burger and a beer and not have to deal with the Pool Bar. - I'm glad we didn't book the Flying Carpet for dinner: our day in Mykonos was very windy, and while the FC is amazing for drinks or simply watching the coast go by, beware of having to eat with the wind. - Dining: couldn't find out exactly how to move from one MDR to another, so we had to stick to Normandie. As well, we were seated in the far back, and had trouble actually getting into one seat as the curtain was right up against the chair. - Flow to the ship (I mean walking-wise). As we are now missing being able to access the bow (first class only!), its hard to move from side to side as you often have to walk past the specialty dining areas to get anywhere: you can't simply go straight across to get to portside from starboard. - Hot tubs. I have no idea if they are any good because I wasn't about to walk upstairs from the pool...as well, the indoor one had a large number of suspiciously young "adults", i.e., over 16... - Infinite Veranda: window SQUEEEEEKKKKKKEEEEED when used sometimes, which wasn't fun for anyone in the early morning/late nights. As well, the blackout curtain was top-down, which means when you wanted to see what it was like out...you had to open it a bit then duck down... - I couldn't get the much-vaunted app to load on my (not exactly old) tablet. The ones in our group who could get it loaded found that it didn't update automatically, and we even heard one crew member to trust the printed sheets, not the app. You've been warned... - Small quibble: no deck chairs on the lower decks. Nice to find a quiet spot on sea days especially and have a nap with the breeze going by. General Issues (which could happen on any ship): kids. Seriously, I'm not old and cranky enough to always complain about kids having fun, especially on a cruise ship vacation. But the pool was virtually held hostage by kids who continually ran and jumped in, not to mention throwing a ball from one end to the other. Fun for a few minutes but hours of it? As well, we apparently had an entire stateroom full of children with no adult supervision right beside us - both sides. As they didn't have security cards, they would open the deadbolt, they push the doors open (which would then SLAM closed). From the deck plans we saw, every OTHER stateroom has pull outs...so that means families are on either side of couples. How about...a section for quiet couples? All in all, 4 out of 5 stars. Will probably be on the Edge again next year...but...all those modern doo-dads don't appear to be very robust. Unless its refurbished more often than Solstice class, I'd hesitate to book five years from now. Read Less

This is an honest review from a Royal Caribbean Oasis Class enthusiast. Celebrity Edge is beautiful. There were 25 of us, 2 children, 2 seniors, 4 Gen Z, and the rest Millennial Boarding in Rome– disorganized, there was no sign where the Edge entrance was, we almost entered another ship. We were dropped off in one area, we had to drag our luggage from limo to drop off (outside the building) to the terminal, to a disorganized luggage check in. Then, we have to ask somebody to tell us where we could enter to check in. Once we were in, it was a breeze. First impression – very modern, did not get the AHH!!! that I was hoping for. Being used to the Oasis class and its grandeur, the ship looked very small. As you enter, there is a pictorial area, then the poured champagne, then you look for your cabin. The chandeliers looked classy, the decors modern. Eden was okay. There was some kind of incense smell at night that was disturbing. We left. Roof top garden, beautiful at night, very hot in the morning. Music – we did NOT find it too loud. Rooms – beautiful. LOVED the IV. No noise issue, no problem with blinds, always opened the balcony. At one time, there were 25 people having a drink in one IV, laughing and talking for half an hour, we never heard the sound outside the cabin. We were amazed. Bed was great, pillows were big and fluffy. Bathrooms – A BIG PLUS, towels need upgrade. Food – A plus, but we noticed a decline in the last three days of the cruise. We were assigned to Cosmopolitan, but have no issue with trying to get in the other three venues. We loved our Cosmo Waiter - Jonathan and Assistant Waiter-Belen. Book the Magic Carpet as you board. We cannot get a booking on the second day. We were planning to try the Specialty restaurants but cancelled and went back to Cosmo. Shrimps were small. Asked where we can get bigger shrimps and the waiter said, that is it!! Desserts were okay Oceanview was very nice, high ceiling and airy. Found it small and some days, one or two buffet counters are closed/empty. We loved the Pizza and the Pizza chef Ramesh. We visit him nightly for our last bite. He made special pizza on request from us. We were lucky to have met Head Sous Chef Jeff. He is in charge of the Specialty Restaurants aboard Edge. As we sat down for dinner Aug 26, our waiter said, “No Menu” tonite. We were surprised. Then came the specialty Filipino food from the kitchen. Chef Jeff made us a dinner we will forever remember!!! Thank you Chef!!! First Aid – my grandson had a bite that got infected. We took him to the First aid station. The doctor treated him and gave us the antibiotics – no charge. Thank you Doctor!! Entertainment and activities – for the seniors who only want to sit around and people watch, this is the ship. For the rest who wants to be active and busy, this is not the ship. There is nothing to do between 7:00am to dinner. The activities being offered are so,so and not challenging at all. In other words, boring. There were three groups of entertainers that were amazing..That’s it. Children Camp at sea – My grand son (8) and Grand daughter (5) got bored and went only once. My grandson was placed in a 6-9 (I believe) level and they were doing dinosaurs and coloring. He was so interested in doing robotics. We asked for him to be moved to the next level and they declined. Staff – A PLUS – our room steward KIMBERLE was an A plus – such a lovely guy, always smiling and accommodating. The EDGE staff made our cruise wonderful!! We chose this sailing for the Ports. We were not disappointed. Tenders – most of the time, the tenders used were from the local suppliers and not the Edge life boat- Semi awful. Only once I have heard that it was used. Most people in our group who used it said it was nice. FINALLY – We loved Edge, but because we always travel together, Edge is not the ship for our active members. And one more very important thing..if you do not have a drink package, there is only ONE place to get coffee (self serve) – you have to go to Oceanview. Read Less

Hi All First want to thank the boards for all the helpful info before the cruise! Our family had a wonderful time on the beautiful Edge. Boarding: (4.0/5): Apparently the port in Rome does not let cars close to the ships. So our car service drop us off in a parking lot and we then had to take a bus over. It all ended up okay. Probably the only knock here is that we were not aware of this issue. Past that, once we got to the port everything went smoothly. Rooms: (4.25/5) Beautiful room. The only issue was noise. We could hear movement pretty often above us which made it hard to fall asleep some nights. Housekeeping: (5.0/5) Genuinely friendly, super attentive. MDR's: (4.25/5) Loved the concept of 4 MDR's. It's definitely is nice to have the change of look/menu. The staff again was GREAT in each location. The food was above average in all. Nothing stood out as over-the-top but certainly all above average. Specialty: Eden: (3.5/5) Just not our cup of tea, I guess. Fine Cut: (3.5/5) First off read the reviews about it being loud - but it WAS loud. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but once you're there it is. The food was fine, but nothing you couldn't get in many restaurants in every major city. Rooftop Grill: (4.5/5) 2nd biggest surprise for us. When the weather is right, this is a great place to eat. Unlike fine cut for example that you can do anywhere, finding a nice place to sit outside and eat good food is a treat. Well done! Le Petit Chef: (5.0/5.0) WOW, what fun! This was our #1 surprise as we almost skipped it. This was BY FAR OUR FAVORITE dinner on the Edge. It's done in 2 seatings so your experience all as a group - which is not something I seek out - but is SUPER FUN. We actually were sitting next to someone from Silicon Valley and they said people just don't realize how special this technology is. The room was like a party, we all had an absolute ball. The staff gives extra energy to the room. The food would not necessarily be what I would pick, but we all LOVED IT because of course these little chefs made it for us!! There was very little signage for this, in fact we had to ask someone where this dinner was. The reason we went was because another couple at the pool said it was the best dinner of theirs. Here's the biggest compliment, on our last night we all decided to go back a 2nd time (we tried some items from the alternative menu) and if anything enjoyed it even more because we all saw little bits of the amazing animations that we didn't pick up the first time. Plus we got to see 2 different chefs win the night which was super fun. BIG CONGRATS TO CELEBRITY for giving us a night(s) we will remember. Entertainment: (4.5/5) The shows were a little hit and miss, but overall kept us entertained. Probably the biggest issue was early on they had a group called Barricade Boys and they were great, so it was hard to keep that level up - but overall good. Ports: (4.5/5) Beautiful locations. I will say that we hired private cars/tours on our own and were very happy with all of them. I'm not sure how it would be if we went through Celebrity or just fended for ourselves. So I guess the take-a-way is to look for local companies with very good reviews. Drinks: (4.0/5) We are not huge drinkers (1-2 a day) so we did not do a drink package. The prices were fine. The only knock is that different locations within the ship did not make the same drink the same way which seem like an easy fix. Everything else was really well done. The ship is absolutely beautiful. Each staff member is nicer than the next. You couldn't go 20 feet without hearing some wonderful live music. I cannot fathom how someone could give this ship anything but a lovely review. Thank you Celebrity, we look forward to many more family cruises making wonderful memories. Read Less

We booked cruise as part of our Golden Wedding celebrations. The ship is simply stunning, very understated very chic. We had a Concierge Balcony cabin which was beautiful and had everything we needed. Bathroom was a little bigger than others we've had on Celebrity ships, though still quite snug. I was attracted to this cruise by the itinerary because we love the Greek Islands. Sadly as a disabled cruiser, I was unable to get off the ship as much as I would have liked because they had to resort to using tenders to get ashore because of weather conditions. Now I come to the piece de resistance, the food on Edge is just fantastic. We ate most nights at Tuscan and the food was outstanding. Every morsel just fabulous. Beautifully served by Tatiana (sorry for any misspelling) who knew all about the menu and ingredients used and she was ably assisted by Ranesh. Anna answered all our questions on the wine and never failed to find just the right wine to accompany the food. The service on board the Edge is just superb. Always discreet, never too much. I really can't praise the staff too much. Our stateroom was beautifully kept by Komang who did a fabulous job. We would love to sail again on the Edge but would have to save very hard as this was a very exoensive cruise. Could I say a very heartfelt thank you to Eduardo of Jet 2 based in Rome, who came to our rescue in Rome airport and helped with my wheelchair and guided us to where we needed to go. If there were 6 stars for dining an d service that's what I would give. My only negative would be the entertainment. It needs a couple of separate pubs. Maybe a nice quiet wine bar and a completely separate music bar for younger guests (adequately soundproofed). All entertainment seemed to happen around the Atrium with everything clashing together. Our ninth cruise. First with Celebrity. Chosen for itinerary and because we like a new ship. Overall very enjoyable cruise and would cruise again on ship and with line. This is what we liked - and didn't. Overall impression of ship. Really impressive. New. Obviously. Modern and stylish. A clear and consistent design and theme which we liked. Grand Plaza buzzy. Restaurant decor pleasing. Eden is a really nice (and we found surprisingly quiet) space - a bit under-used if anything. Theatre particularly impressive. State of the art backdrops and staging. One or two smaller quieter bars wouldn't have gone amiss. Food offer Generally good in both main and speciality restaurants though with possible exception of Eden the SR didn't justify cover charge. Entrees - beef dishes in particular - really very good indeed. Service helpful and attentive. Desserts however lacked imagination throughout cruise... Breakfast buffet good but disappointed by repetitive lunchtime offer (not as good or varied as P and O for example). Entertainment Have read some less than positive reviews but we enjoyed it. Varied and catered for all passengers and tastes. Later shows busy but always found a seat. Production shows quite good and production values and staging very good. Guest entertainers were better than on our previous half dozen cruises and a mile ahead of the awful offer on our last NCL cruise. Pool and Resort Decks. Busy pool area but always found a sun bed (for the whole family). Sufficient bar service. Rooftop Garden and Sunset Bar great spaces for sailaway and into evening. Cabin We were deck 12 concierge class. Best bathroom yet in cabin of similar grade. Liked spacious cabin and information system easy to use. 'edge' balcony however is a waste of time. Preferred traditional arrangement. A gimmick too far? And although we got a deal... So more or less free... Not sure the brochure supplement for CC is warranted. Embarkation etc Was the smoothest of any ship we've ever been on. On-boarding took 5 minutes. Yes. 5. Disembarkation smooth. In port whether at pier or tender getting on and off really quick. The ship has its own tenders which double as lifeboats and they're great. So that was nearly all positive and to be clear we really enjoyed our cruise. But there is room for improvement : 1. Constant upselling of drinks packages for first 2 days. Really annoying. We drink a reasonable amount on holiday but really unless you are on board the ship during the day (we weren't from 9-3 except on sea days) you won't get value from a package. We calculated we SAVED about 500 from NOT buying them. But hey if they're included in a deal, enjoy. 2. Entertainment offer in Eden. Is bizarre. It doesn't work. Vaguely embarrassing. 3. Infinite Balconies. Well I guess it's too late to fix now... But they're pointless. 4. So is the magic carpet... Gimmick. 5. The Cabanas. At around a thousand dollars a day no wonder they're empty. But they use up deck space and obstruct views other passengers would enjoy. I saw about six in use during the whole cruise. And in the afternoon... You could just park yourself in unused ones.. Free. Celebrity... Either re-price or redesign the space? 6. Internet - the packages are simply extortionate. That's it folks. Notwithstanding above it was a great cruise. And the staff - all of them from cabin steward.. Waiting staff.... Bars... Casino... Really friendly and with a caring attitude. Read Less

What we enjoyed : Aqua Class Exclusive access to BLU restaurant , priority access to Thermal Suite and Spa facilities. Services Excellent service of staff, approachable and in general very helpful. Food Good to so-so depends on the menu and restaurants. Overall a bit too salty and sweat. The buffet is between Mirage Las Vegas to Wynn, somewhere in between. Cabin Technology - Cellphone App can control blinds, veranda, lighting, temperature. App also can show expense accounts, look up decks, activities, and daily menu of all restaurants. Daily recap video of Cruise Directors, shopping guide, and live map about whereabouts/speed on TV. Key highlight was the ship's Master / Captain Costa's one hour presentation on the second last day about how cruise ship operates, the organizational structure and changing industry trends including gender equality, ship's design for environmental considerations such as waste processing and GHG etc. What we hope to see improvement Food Oceanview Cafe ( Buffet) 1. Selection of food, especially on the Asian cuisine side hope to see a bit more availability of Chinese, Korean and Japanese selections. Too many repeat items over the 11 nights over three meals. 2. Reduce amount of sugar for deserts such as cake, tarts, ice cream and cookie, we found too sweat for most items. Le Petit Chef 3. Reduce sodium for some food, we found beef dishes in general are a bit salty across all restaurants. Raw on 5 We didnt try, but not very appealing based on what we have seen on the menu and on display. Entertainment Eden : it is just a bit too abstract for us to understand the concept. Excursion The tour to Nafplio ( Nauplion) was the first time Celebrity has ever been to. The town itself is wonderful and very pretty to stroll through and spend some time for photo and souvenirs. However, We feel Celebrity and tour operator should think about how to develop more for the town maybe like agri-tourism to visit to orchard or groves. There are basically three major spots that you can go, we went on with the Palamidi Fortress and Epidarus, the tour guide mentioned that they came from Athens 4 in the morning. The tour itself dont really going to take more than 3.5 hours all together which our tour guide spent a lot of time talking instead of walking ( also we were very disappointed about a nearby restaurant of Epidarus which the owner/server who told our guide and everyone about offering $3Euro for a cup of orange juice but then charged everyone $4 Euro, some paid some didnt, just on the principle side we dont enjoy being scammed). As a result, we are see the excursion can be improved. I am not sure if Celebrity will return to Nafplio, this port requires tender and Edge had to use its own tender/life boat for the job. Apparently cruise-tourism has not been developed here. Read Less

Chose the itinerary to experience the new Edge. Had been to all these ports previously except Napflion so the ship was the main driving point for our choice. Embarkation and disembarkation were perfect, total of 15 minutes combined. The process for getting off the Edge at your preferred time was seemlless. Staff was first class everywhere we went. Ivan , Diana and Green in Blu, Cruz maintaing our cabin, Jesse In Fine Cut , the service was immaculate. We frequented Tuscan,Cyprus,Fine Cut,Normandie and Oceanview all were excellent with great menus and selections that always made decisions tough. Entertainment both throughout the ship and on nightly shows was good. I am totally perplexed about folks complaints about the Infinite Cabin. We loved it,Celebrity told us what they wanted to accomplish and in our opinion they delivered. Bathroom was more roomy with wonderful amenities, storage was plentiful for the11 night cruise we enjoyed the ship ,the technology made everything easier to control and the decor is simple modern and stylish. Throughout , Edge is a gorgeous vessel everywhere the art the attention to details made it a pleasure to sail in. The Magic Carpet was unique but with weather factors it may need some rethinking. We actually booked a meal on it and decided to cancel because of wind and cold weather. The one time it was used for tendering it was fantastic. The tender boats are plush and extremely comfortable. Destination gateway a tremendous innovation that made it a pleasure to go ashore. We did 3 private tours and 2 tours with Celebrity. Our Celebrity tour experience was average at best and needs work. The one point that was most interesting to us was Eden both the area and the Restaurant. I loved it my wife did not. Definently it’s something everyone should try with an open mind but at the end it’s an acquired taste. Overall The Edge exceeded our expectations. Again some of the complaints are so silly. Celebrity told us they were trying to change the cruise industry and in my opinion they have done just that. Great job and great cruise. Read Less

This ship is incredible. The best cruise we ever had. The sunset veranda rooms are definitely the best, short of an Aquaclass or suite. It is larger and a has a huge balcony...and it's quiet. We were on deck 11. Our cabin steward (Wyan) was so attentive we never wanted for anything. Room service is prompt and friendly. The shows are fresh and interesting and the performers can be found all over the ship doing exciting things. Eden is exquisite and the performances are really different (in a good way). The staff could not have been nicer. I've never been on a cruise where the senior staff were along the way to greet you and wish you a great day on the way off the ship in each port, and on the dock to greet you when you returned from your excursions. The waitstaff were friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to accommodate. We used all four of the main dining room and ate at the Steakhouse, Eden, and Le Petite Chef. The latter was the most fun evening ever. The food was always well prepared and delicious. If I had one complaint it was that you could not make a reservation in the main dining rooms on the app. The 7000 number almost always had a recording saying to go to the restaurant to make a reservation, and often there was no one at the restaurant prepared to do that. We managed to work around that and they always willingly accommodated us without a reservation, but since so much is doable on the app, that would be a nice addition. We hadn't been on a cruise to Amalfi Coast or the Greek Isles and the Edge was certainly a draw. I had read the review before leaving but was determined to form my own opinion. While the ship is beautiful and innovative in many ways we missed some of the old standby design elements. There is no way to walk the promenade and enjoy the sea. You can catch a glimpse of it occasionally between lifeboats but that's it. You can not walk all the way around the ship. The only place to do this is upper deck walking track which is nice but terribly busy with runners and standers and very windy, always. You can't get that, "by the sea" feel because you are so high above it. We missed the bar at the front of the ship. We were in New Zealand on another Celebrity cruise and enjoyed the beautiful dance floor & bar that was huge and filled with curved windows around the entire horizon. There is nothing like that on the Edge. The front of the ship is for "suites" or better and the rest of the ship's guests are in the back with no access to the view out the front other than on their TV. The pool area is beautiful. However, access to things like bars, hot tubs, food is poorly planned. In order to go from the pool to a hot tub, you have to go up a floor, either by stairs or by a long ramp, it isn't close. There is only one very small bar that is always overworked with a long line. There are plenty of chairs around the pool. We never had a time when we couldn't find a chair. The sanctuary pool area was nice but too warm most days. Saw very few people using the Cabanas (there is an extra charge for these). The Sunset bar on the back of the ship is nice but small as well. Very limited space and there were many times (usually every evening at sunset) when there was no place for people to sit. The area at the rooftop garden is nice but usually empty. There didn't seem to be much happening there. Nothing except the occasional saxophone soloist or a movie. The Sunset bar is around the corner so it was just not used much. The Sunset Bar is the only nice place outside for you to sit and look over the water if you aren't in a suite so it should have been larger. The bartenders do a great job here. Much friendlier and faster than the ones at the main pool bar. Specialty restaurants: We ate at Eden, La Petite Chef, Steakhouse, Magic Carpet. Thoughts: Magic Carpet - food is amazing but you can't enjoy it because the wind on the magic carpet is crazy! The ship is moving so, of course, there is wind but they didn't design the space to mitigate the problem. Everyone was wrapped in blankets, trying to hold down their food while they tried to eat. At one point the waiter was pouring wine and it blew out of the glass onto the people at the next table. The bread was flying off the plates. We saw several couples just call it and leave. Crazy expensive ($100 each) for that experience. Eden - interesting but wouldn't do it again. The food and service were good. Keep in mind that the focus here is art. With the food as well as the entertainment. You will have amazing looking food but super small portions. The food is art and they do a good job of pulling that off but you won't walk away stuffed. This space was NEVER filled. People walk in, look around, leave. Huge area but not being used. La Petite Chef - fun to do once. Food not very imaginative but the show is interesting. Wouldn't do it again unless I had little kids with me. Steakhouse - excellent food. Our service was good. Not a fan of the huge chairs that you can't see out of. Felt like we were in a hole. Lot's of noise from downstairs. Breaking the main dining room into 4 separate areas is genius. We ate at three of the 4 and they were all excellent with exceptional service. We were in Aqua Class so we ate at Blu most nights. The food and service there were wonderful. No way to see out because you are looking at lifeboats and unfortunately it was always very noisy. There is only one restaurant (other than the buffet area) where you can actually look out from most of the seating and that is in Eden. Otherwise, you are inside rooms with curtains that are closed. Our group of 4 was never seated near a window. It always felt enclosed. I thought when they were talking about the design that it was more outward looking. Not so, it felt more like the inside of a hotel. I did miss the glass elevators in the atrium like Celebrity's other ships. Here you have banks of elevators that are all enclosed. Fast but enclosed. Miss the promenade area of pubs and little shops (ice cream, cupcakes, Irish pub, etc) on other ships. Edge has Tiffanys, Cartier, etc. instead. Very expensive shopping venues. Great if you are interested in spending $18K on a watch. (seriously, that was the price) Embarkation and disembarkation were both seamless. Celebrity has this down and they do a great job. The tenders are beautiful and the area for disembarking on the ship is amazing. Enrichment activities were nonexistent. We had naturalists aboard on our last cruise who gave talks about ports and wildlife, etc but not on this one, where there was such a great opportunity for a historian or geologist, but there was nothing. At one point we got excited because of the daily planner listing "4 Ocean" enrichment activity. We rushed to fit it into our schedule and tracked it down (no one even knew where it was being held) and it turned out to be a marketing ploy to get you to buy a bracelet made from recovered plastic for $20 from one of the gift shops. Not a presentation just an end cap in a shop. No sail away band on deck at any port. Very little entertainment on deck. One female vocalist and one great band tried to rotate around the ship. Seemed they were always playing somewhere but they weren't enough. Lots of canned music playing. Spa and thermal suites were wonderful. The staff was great and the facilities are awesome. Classic drink package has apparently been changed and now there is an upcharge on many drinks. You are encouraged to upgrade to the premium package at every turn. The excursions were good for the most part. Only one was a drag. In Athens, we were literally hearded from one space to another by a tour guide who couldn't stop talking for two seconds. The tour listed lunch and we were moved through the streets (at 3pm) past multiple spots with sidewalk seating to the side door of a place where we stood in line to get a wrap and told to find someplace to sit and order our drinks. Several people on the tour left at that point and took a cab back to the ship. It was ridiculous. Conclusion: The Edge is a beautiful, innovative ship. It doesn't feel like a ship but like a new hotel. We did miss some of the things we cruise for, a view of the sea, the feel of being out on the water, walking the Promenade, enjoying early mornings on our Veranda, etc., are just missing. Two years ago, while sailing on the Celebrity Constellation, we heard about their new ship, the Edge. The ship’s description and concept looked interesting so we ultimately signed up for the May 25, 2019 cruise to Italy, Malta and Greece. Unfortunately, after boarding the ship, we ran into one disappointment after another, not the least of which was our discovery that the infinite balcony cabin was poorly designed and generally inconvenient. Some of our issues are no doubt subjective. But as several are arguably objective, let me start with those. 1) The infinite balcony configuration in our cabin was such that only about one foot of space separated the bed from the French doors, which required that the doors be left open at all times. And given the narrowness of the balcony, the balcony furniture had to be pulled away from the window so that the descending blind wouldn’t hit it. Then the furniture had to be pushed back into the balcony so that I could get into the bed. The blind design itself was poor in that whenever we wanted privacy while in port, we had to close it, which blacked out the cabin. Didn’t the designers think about utilizing a sheer in addition to the blind to give privacy but allow in light? We were particularly angered by the fact that the brochures show a completely different configuration for infinite balcony cabins, one where the bed placement provided plenty of room. We were never informed that the cabin we booked was configured differently. 2) About five minutes after first entering our cabin, we realized that the “infinite” balcony is nothing more than a glorified picture window so that the cabin is no different from an ocean view cabin except that the window opens half way. 3) The closet configuration is badly designed. There is insufficient room to hang long items (dresses, pants, etc.). We even had to ask the steward to take away the bath robes as we needed the space for our clothing. As an FYI, the secondary metal shelf that’s situated about three feet off the ground should have been designed to fold away to provide more space. 4) Electrical outlets are only provided on one side of the bed. This makes little sense. 5) The interior spaces of the ship were surprisingly dark and dreary. I’m sure the designers claimed that the look was elegant and avant-garde. But when coupled with the fact that there seemed to be limited spaces where music wasn’t continuously playing at one volume level or another, this added up to an inhospitable arrangement. 10) Speaking of loud music, we dined at both the Fine Cut Steak House and Raw on 5. In both cases, although seated by the windows, the music blasting from the Grand Plaza made our meals unpleasant. Whoever thought up the idea of open restaurants near the ship’s central entertainment section must have been deaf. On the subjective front (and some of these points obviously apply to other cruise ships): 1) Daily menus for all restaurants and all meals should be made available on the cabin TVs or on the Celebrity app. If this was done on the Edge, we could not find them. 2) There was plenty of empty wall space in our cabin to accommodate wall hooks and covered shelves. These would go a long way to offsetting the limited closer space. 3) The elimination of the library, one of the main quiet spaces on most cruise ships, was a mistake. Sorry if this sounds like a lot of complaining, but although there were some positive features on the Edge we were expecting much more of the ship. So its failure to live up to expectations went a long way toward diminishing our enjoyment of the trip. As it is, while we will possibly cruise on Celebrity again, it will NOT be on the Edge or any of its future sister ships unless we find that they have been extensively redesigned to eliminate the Edge’s many problems. As seasoned Celebrity clients enjoying previous cruises on their Solstice Class ships we had preconceived ideas as to what we might expect on the new Edge. With all the advertising hype we’d read and the artist’s impressions we’d seen on line over the last months we were quite excited to finally experience this brand new innovative ship. First, our stateroom and spacious bathroom were nicely designed with an easy on the eye colour palette and the bed is comfortable with quality sheets and bedding. The spacious shower was great. The jury is still out on the ‘Infinite Balcony’. Having experienced this new concept on an 11 day cruise we have come to the conclusion that we prefer a traditional balcony and not this very wide window that opens to just above waist level. No sunbathing is possible here except down to said level and the motor operating the window is a little noisy, ditto the black out blind consequently disturbing your partner who still might be sleeping if you feel the need for fresh air and light in your stateroom at sunrise or whatever time of day. We appreciate the idea behind this but it really didn’t work for us. The general design of the Edge is far removed as it can be from the Solstice Class ships but it’s difficult not to make comparisons. There are a lot of plain walled corridors with dead ends on the Edge which in places gives it the look of a modern conference centre and not a luxury ship Modern and contemporary it maybe but quite stark looking in certain areas. How about some more artwork to soften this? Celebrity’s obvious intention was to create a totally different style of ship which would appeal to a different and younger market. The result is a party type ship with constant uber loud and invasive music from bands or DJS and trivia competitions hosted by crew using high volume microphones who obviously like the sound of their own voices all of which takes place in what is the equivalent of a central atrium which extends to the Martini Bar. Hence there’s no escaping from the constant cacophony of noise which can be heard on all decks throughout this vicinity. The problem here lies because the ship in this area is almost totally open planned with no glass or walls separating one section from another. Consequently a relatively quiet and relaxing coffee in Al Bacio on Reflection and sister ships is now an impossiblity in the new mutation of Al Bacio on Edge which is directly above the noisy central atrium cum Martini Bar. If you time it right in between sessions (about 15 minutes of respite) you might get a coffee when you can actually chat to your partner, fellow cruiser or server without shouting or getting a sore throat to boot! Ditto the same experience in the ‘speciality fine dining restaurants’ which all share this dreadful noise with the party revellers below whooping and cheering whenever the barman in Martini Bar juggles his bottles and cocktail shaker to the delight of his customers. So for those who are in search of a relaxed and quiet fine dining experience in these restaurants can forget it. This is a huge designer mistake! There is nothing to compare on Edge to the tasteful and wonderful Murano and Tuscan Grill. We so missed them both!!!! The concept of the divided MDR into 3 different styled restaurants didn’t work for us. The main changing daily menu in all 3 restaurants are identical and the few (3 or 4) speciality dishes reflecting the country they represent are disappointing to say the least. We tried the Italian restaurant once and on the strength of that cancelled our other reservations in the other 2 restaurants. Having said that the rack of lamb dish there was infinitely better than in Fine Cuts where we had to send it back as it was dry and overcooked. The second attempt was equally as disappointing so added to this the awful noise from the high volume of music and annoying bass coming from below, we upped and left. Several diners close to us were complaining to the servers hoping they could influence someone to reduce the noise levels but it seems that all decisions like this come from head office in Miami. Ridiculous! Perhaps the new generation of cruisers either want or can tolerate these noise levels but Celebrity are bound to lose a good percentage of clients who are looking for a quiet relaxing and sophisticated cruise. Fortunately we were in Aqua Class so we dined in Blu most evenings which for us was the best dining experience although not yet quite as good as Blu on Solstice Class we’d previously enjoyed. The service however in Blu was exemplary. Breakfast in Blu was a delight and consistently excellent. Sometimes the best meal of the day. Sad but true! Still on the subject of Blu....where the previous Blu restaurants in Solstice Class enjoyed lovely sea views from all the windows, the view from Blu on the Edge is of lifeboats. Not very inspiring. Eden was very underwhelming and nothing like the artists impressions. Maybe when the potted plants grow it might look more exotic. Nothing very Eden like there and a lot of wasted space. As one of the only places on board one could find reasonable peace and quiet to enjoy a drink it’s a shame they don’t serve coffee there as an alternative to the noisy Café Al Bacio. Also what decent cocktail lounge runs out of mint half way through the cruise? It did in Eden and obviously also in the Martini Bar. So that was the end of mojitos for me on this cruise! Would we sail on the Edge again. Sadly no! We much prefer Solstice Class. Let’s hope they don’t follow suit and become Edge-like or Celebrity will lose our custom and I believe that of many more besides. Read Less

Booked this cruse almost a year in advance ( great itinerary that caught our attention) and were shocked when a few months later prices went up 50%!!! It was our 18th cruise and I've never seen anything like that before.. But I am sure that those who paid pretty big bucks, were not disappointed.. The ship is not small but very easy to navigate. wherever we went, we'd find something new we've never seen before. I am talking about ship's decor, theater reinvented, Eden, Magic Carpet .. and more.. Dining - for the 1st time we did not book any specialty restaurants. Edge has 4 dining rooms and each of them has their own mini menu beside the common for all 4. So we had tried 3 of them and food was great!!! Buffet - no complaints .. aft tea with scones and clotted cream ( and we are not British, but LOVED it). We decided to change our dinner time and didn't even had to tell anyone. All our walk ins were successful, we were accommodated right away. Took couple of excursions - no issues there. Tenders were so modern.. again it was the 1st time when we saw something like that. Entertainment - from singers to theater shows - we enjoyed it so much. This ship actually one of not many where you are getting entertained pretty late. usually after the late show ships are "dead" , this one was booming.. loved silent karaoke. Honestly, I teared up a little leaving the ship.. Highly recommend it to 1st time or experienced cruisers. Read Less

Celebrity Edge is a great ship and it put our faith back into cruising after a disastrous cruise on Cunard's QM2 last year which was so old fashioned, dirty and the food disgusting that we pledged never to go on a cruise again, however, we saw The Edge and decided to give it a go and it was one of the best decisions we made. It has everything you want on a cruise: fabulous food; friendly and excellent service; sparklingly clean and hygienic; impressive and packed itinerary. If you're a first time cruiser you'll love it but probably be disappointed in other ships afterwards! Things to think about: we considered upgrading to concierge class but that would have doubled the gratuities. Why go on a huge ship and pay extra to keep separated in a small exclusive area at the front, if you don't like the 'Hoi Polloi' go on a smaller more exclusive ship. Forget the organised shore excursion , you could have got off the ship in at least 6 of the ports we stopped at and easily explored on your own. Get a Premium drinks package for a hassle free cruise experience, who wants to spend the cruise adding up the cost of drinks - prices are high AND theres always the 18% or 20% service charge Reduce the packing, you really DO NOT need those evening dresses and suits, the Edge has Evening Chic i.e. cocktail party attire , men take a smart linen suit or similar and women a cocktail dress or equivalent if you want to dress up. If you have restricted mobility remember that this is a massive ship and you can do a lot of walking to and from decks plus the ports we visited were not at all easy for wheelchair access. Pre-cruise we chose Select Dining as there were only 2 of you and it really worked for us. No fixed time or table, you choose when and where to eat in the 4 'free' restaurants between 5.30pm-9.30pm, simply ask the Maitre D' for a table ( you can reserve one but we just went were we fancied that night), you may have to wait for a table for 2 but if it's too busy then just go to another restaurant. We also ate in the Oceanview cafe 2 nights and wish we eaten there more often as it was superb. WHAT REALLY IMPRESSED US. The Silent Disco was THE best thing we've ever done on a cruise- just do it, it's a disco but not as you know it!!! Embarkation and disembarkation was top notch, easy and very speedy. Embrace the digital world (even we managed out at 59 yrs) get the App on your phone, check in online, sort out your sea pass photo, etc all before you leave home. Food was superb in all areas and we loved 4 main dining rooms but missed building up a rapport with staff. Don't waste your money eating in specialty restaurants (unless you're wanting to boast about it to others or are bored quickly and need the amusement ) the service and food in the 'free' restaurants are fantastic. Service was excellent throughout the ship and good to see officers mingling with passengers and eating in the restaurants. Infinite balcony stateroom was fabulous and the bathroom the best ever, so well designed and spacious. Plenty of cupboard and storage space (check the walls carefully, we didn't realise there was storage behind the curved bit until day 9!) but doors were difficult to open so proper handles would help to open them more easily. Cleanliness, as always Celebrity keep everything clean and well maintained. Plenty of people cleaning up constantly and enforcing hand hygiene at restaurants. NOT SO IMPRESSED BY. The daily programme was changed (printed and digital) without us knowing and we missed things because they were rescheduled without notification. Dress code wasn’t specified anywhere so was a mystery to us and we never realised it was evening chic ( plus no one dressed up) till after the evening! Eden was lovely area but wasted and underused, we were very disappointed in the bar , there was no drinks list and we were told beers were same as every else but we didn’t know what those were having just arrived. Cocktails were awful and hugely over priced. Make it into a proper mixology bar ( like on the Eclipse - 2013) with quality cocktails and get rid of the new age acrobats. Sad that non suite guests are barred from front of ship. We would have liked a smaller, intimate and quieter bar (with jazz, solo musicians, etc) to sit and relax in in after dinner. The Spa - as usual laughably expensive. Read Less
