My wife and I sailed, again, on the Eclipse, out of Miami. We arrived at the cruise terminal at 11:30AM and embarkation was a breeze. We proceeded to the Ocean Grille because we could not see our room until 1:00PM. After lunch and a short walk around the ship we arrived at our cabin and opened the door. OH NO !! The positioning of the room was not what we were told, by Celebrity, and would create a problem for the entire cruise. We did not enter the cabin but went immediately to Customer Service and spoke with Alexis. He was very kind and gracious and told us to return to the room and he would be there shortly. True to his word, a while later, he arrived at the room and told us; at that time, he could not change the room because the ship was completely booked. We unpacked and started our vacation. We met our cabin attendant, Jose, who was very kind, understanding of our situation and kept our cabin "ship shape". Anything we asked of him was easily accomplished. Cabin 9280 is on the "hump" centrally located on this ship, very quiet with the bed near the balcony. We ate every evening in the MDR; "Moonlight Sonata" . The hostess, Ivana was great! Our waiter, Markus was outstanding ! Markus, Jobel & Randi were our servers for the entire cruise and we never wanted for anything. The food in the MDR was delicious, prompt, hot, and always presented well. Every morning we ate breakfast, cooked to order, and most of the time we had lunch either at a beach or at the Ocean Grille. The food was very good at the Grille and Martin, a one time hockey player and former team-mate of Zdeno Chara, made sure everything ran smoothly. The activities on board were very good. We only made a couple of the shows but one of the shows sticks out. Sean O'Shea was terrific. The man has vocal and comedic talent. He entertained everyone with his singing and continuous slap-stik. I did sing at Karaoke a few nights and I was impressed with other singers. We met our cabin attendant, Jose, who was very kind, understanding of our situation and kept our cabin "ship shape". Anything we asked of him was easily accomplished. Cabin 9280 is on the "hump" centrally located on this ship, very quiet with the bed near the balcony. Guiseppe, the entertainment director, along with his assistant "Bruce Springsten" was tireless in their endeavor to make sure everyone, on board, was kept busy and happy. We did Trivia with both of them, where we met many wonderful people. A shout out to Rich,Barbara,Cholita, John and Sid. Hopefully, someday, Guiseppe and I will have the opportunity for our duet; "To All The Girls I Love Before". :-) Towards the end of the cruise we received a surprise call from the Front Desk Manager; Marie. Marie had spoken with us early in the cruise and promised she would do everything she could to assist us with our cabin problem. Marie is the consummate professional. Not only is she knowledgeable, and compassionate; she is a joy to be around. She was very kind, which ensured us that we would cruise again with Celebrity. We felt blessed to be on this cruise with so many wonderful people. The entire staff on the Eclipse worked extremely hard to make sure our cruise was special and it was ! The new friends we made were more than a bonus. Looking forward to our next cruise with Celebrity. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we wanted an eastern Caribbean and southern to islands we have yet to explore and found this 14 day cruise. Little did we know that there is nothing for entertainment on this ship for anyone under the age of 60!!! The music is ideal for big bands, waltz and such which were popular in the 40's and 50's! Then we upgraded to get the water package as my wife needs water for medical reasons. But we were only able to get 1 bottle at a time and it was nearly an act of God to get more than that at a time! Like water is more precious than gold!!! And on a cruise that costs this much to get a case of flipping $10 water? Then have to wait until bedtime every 2-3 days to get it at that! The excursions are decent though over priced. You can do better and save money on your own shore side. Then the food. It was good, not exceptional, but they are on a schedule and take the food down by 10 pm every night no matter what! Then by 1030, the flipping ship is a near ghost town!!! Our ship was loaded with walkers and scooters and everyone over 60 thought this was wonderful as it isn't a party ship like the others and they can relax, take their naps daily and play Scrabble and cards daily and be in bed by 9 to 10pm and not have any partiers keeping them awake! Horrible cruise that I thought would never end! I will never cruise on Celebrity ever again! This is a cruiseline for old people that want quiet and no kids!!! Their whole idea of fun on sea days was name that tune! From the 40's, 50's and 60's!!! (ARE YOU FLIPPING SERIOUS???) Read Less

From the moment we boarded and were handed a glass of fizz, to the very end when Captain Leo was there to bid all his guests farewell, we could not fault anything. We were in stateroom 9103 and our attendant was called Hamilton. He was wonderful. Although we were never in need of anything, he always asked if everything was ok for us. There first thing in the morning and last thing at night. We are in the main dining room mostly where the food was fabulous. Our waiters were John and Iranya. Both were very attentive, informative regarding the menu and even snuck in an extra portion or two when my husband particularly loved a meal (we both came home heavier!!). John also had other talents ... table magic most nights and tall tales about the ships chef ... his Grandma! What a wonderful pair they were and helped make our honeymoon special. The only small gripe we had was whilst eating outside in the large buffet restaurant. One day our meals were covered with cigar ash from the deck above. Obviously someone not using the ashtray but flicking it over the side (my husband did go upstairs and point this out to the 'offender' and we advised management. But apart from that, a wonderful cruise and we wouldn't hesitate to sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

This was best cruise so far. My wife and I both agree, that this one was the best so far all we have taken. It all started with Manuela Becker, our Michael’s Club Concierge. She was a real gem and always had a smile for us. There was a seamless handoff from Sara Gouveia (we love her and will see her soon on Infinity), the Michael’s Club Concierge from our last 2 cruises on Eclipse to Manuela. If we needed anything, a special dinner, a different liquor in the bar, an excursion, or whatever, Manuela was there. Manuela was in training some days, so we got to know Alex from Customer Service too. He was always smiling and had good ideas for excursions and things we needed. The other Michael’s Club staff were excellent. Latoy, the Bartender during the day, learned my wife’s favorite Prohibition Mai Tai, with excellent coaching from Nevile, our Michael’s Bartender from the last cruise. We always love Nevile when he’s around. Unfortunately he was mostly working the Mast Bar this cruise. Vicky (Victoria) was our ‘relief’ Bartender, on loan from Murano’s. It was fun getting to know her and her home country of Moldovia. She mostly was there for afternoon tea. We also saw her as an Assistant Waiter in Murano’s for our 4 dinners there and she always stopped by to say hello. The staff in Luminae was tremendous! Davut was our primary Waiter and he was fantastic. He always remembered little things, like no croutons in my Caesar salad or to always bring a MDR menu, because I like to see what’s in there too. He knew how all the dishes were prepared and always remembered my wife’s aversion to goat cheese. We were also able to chat with Ante & Floyd our Waiters from the last 2 cruises too. It was nice to catch up with them. The Assistant Waiters in Luminae we all gems. Valeria and Nina were always prompt offering water and breads and making sure we had everything we could possibly want. Arnold “Not the Schwarzeneggerr”, the Sommelier in Luminae always remember what wines we liked and made sure they were available. He was great at paring recommendations. Arnold was always happy and great to talk to. We had the best time at the World Class Bar with Marius. We took two of his mixology classes about cocktails and Macallan Scotch. Both were very insightful and fun to take. My wife and I both learned a lot. We loved the drinks he made and just had to try at least one of each. Paul, was one of favorite bartenders from Michael’s Club previous cruises. He’s quiet, efficient and so friendly. We wish there was a World Class Bar on Infinity for our next 5 cruises. We’re really going to miss it. We had great Suite Butlers. We loved Budi. He always seemed to be around in the hall welcoming us. We had a standing coffee order for 6 AM, before we worked out, and he never missed being right on time. We were so sad when he was transferred to Reflection before the end of our cruise. Allain took over for the last few days of the cruise and stepped in very well. And lastly our favorite, Annie, our Room Attendant. She kept everything spotless and picked up. She handled special requests, like my request for a foam pillow, quickly. We knew Annie from our last cruise and although I know she must have had hundreds of cabins since then, she remembered us as we were walking down the passageway to our cabin on the first day of the cruise. I know this is long, but we really love Celebrity people. It’s people who make Celebrity special. Read Less

We are long time Celebrity cruisers. This was our first time aboard Eclipse. We found the staff to be very attentive from the housekeeping team through the restaurant folks. Virtually every crew member offered a “good morning, good afternoon “ etc as appropriate whenever they saw us. Captain Leo was terrific. CD Eddie was very knowledgeable and offered his insight into destinations. The shows were typical ship entertainment while the guest entertainment was above average. We found the food and variety in the main dining room above average. The ship itself though exceptionally clean is starting to show some wear. Again just aging, not uncared for. The ship is not planned to service the Caribbean for several years so we’ll not be sailing on her again any time soon. Too bad, we had a very nice experience and would absolutely sail aboard Eclipse again. As it is, we’re looking forward to sailing with Captain Kate aboard Equinox. Read Less

We chose this for a special birthday and booked it nearly 2 years in advance. From the moment we boarded the ship we were taken care of, every member of staff we came into contact with were very professional and couldn’t do enough for us. We had a concierge cabin on deck 10 very central and nice cabin with plenty of storage and a good balcony. The food in the main dining room was very good we ate in the speciality restaurants Qsine which was great fun , Tuscan Grill ok but not my favourite but Murano was excellant we had the most delicious meal. We had the premium drinks package which allowed us almost everything we particularly enjoyed the Martini Bar the staff were great fun and the drinks good. We didn’t do any ships excursions preferring to do our own thing on arrival, The beaches especially in Aruba were beautiful and an island tour in Barbados was a good way to spend a few hours. Will definitely travel with celebrity again Read Less

This cruise has become an annual "get away from the snow" event. I guess it'll be our last one for 14 nights so we are joining a lot of other disappointed cruisers who have become spoiled. It'll be hard to replace, impossible on Celebrity but we are booked for a 12 night Med. cruise this September on Eclipse and with Captain Leo. I recently became on the the 15 or 20 percent of the population who suffers from GERD and I was worried that the whole dining experience would be very dull. I was completely wrong. There were plenty of wonderful things on the menu and even at the Elite cocktail party every night. No problems whatsoever. We are longtime fans of Celebrity and I cannot, if my life depended upon it, find anything serious to complain about on any of the Celebrity ships. The crew has always been friendly, kind and helpful. They keep us well fed, entertained and cared for. I would suggest another ship or cruise line for someone who is looking for 24 hour parties and lots of action. This cruise in particular attracted an older group, probably because they have the time and can afford the fare. In no way is it a floating nursing home. I would rather describe it as a ship with polite passengers between the ages of 50 to whatever. The shows have improved a great deal and there is entertainment, other than the showroom, all over the ship. I did get a pretty bad cold on the next to last day and it turned out to be an upper respiratory infection. In 36 or more cruises it is about the 3rd time for this. Next time I will take Airborne, a saline spray, Emergen C, Halo, or whatever precaution is available pre-cruise. We will also avoid the buffets if possible. To many people milling around, to many opportunities for contact with sniffers, etc. It's too bad. I don't blame the cruiseline. They are constantly cleaning, squirting disinfectant and trying their best to keep everyone healthy. Read Less

We have sailed this route twice before, so the excursions were of little interest to us. The ports offered free Wi-Fi and that was nice. It was a little hotter than we remembered, but the weather for the entire 2 weeks was sunny and a little breezy. The water was so calm that we couldn't even tell that we were moving. Well that - AND the fact that we only had to sail a short distance between ports, so we were mostly just floating. The only real difference we noticed was that many times the Ocean View Café had mis-marked several of the items - so when we got the plate over to the table - we were surprised by what we found. Chicken Pot Pie turned out to be beef pot pie. Broccoli soup turned out to be spinach soup, etc. The staff was friendly and seemed interested in helping. Cabin was clean. The comedy shows were funny. The aerial shows were great for a while, but got quite repetitive. The Broadway show had songs that we had never heard before. If you are going to offer Broadway Show Tunes to an American audience - please use the classics. Read Less

This was our 15th Cruise, 2nd on Celebrity. The Eclipse is exceptionally clean, well maintained, and has a crew that appears to be happy and helpful. The Oceanview Cafe by far was the best designed “buffet” we’ve experience, bright, roomy, and with many many options to choose. The staff were constantly clearing tables and getting drinks, and the food servers were polite and gave portion size based on request. The dining room, the Moonlight Sonata (deck 3) also was brightly decorated, but with some of the worse chairs. If you sat up, you had no back support, and if you leaned back, you slouched. However, the food was consistently some of the best meals we’ve ever had on the high seas. Salmon and beef dishes were perfect, time after time. Appetizers and Desserts were different and very tasteful. Unfortunately for us, we had a server team that was one of the slowest ever; we found out on the last day that our main server was quitting and it reflected in his service. The poor assistant was learning and appeared confused most of the time. Simply stated, their service “dance” was not in sync. On the plus side, our sommelier was amazing, a walking smile and happy happy guy. I wrote him up as the best crew member on the ship. We don’t drink alcohol or wine, but I gave him an extra tip, because he earned it. We were blessed to have the best cabin attendant ever as he kept the cabin in perfect order, provided extra towels as needed, and gave us our 3:00pm snack on time every day. His attitude of being happy, helpful and joking nature was greatly appreciated. We saw a few shows, they were well presented, but on a personal note, we both have problematic knees. In sitting in the theater chairs, they were comfy, but had a slight downward tilt (aged?) that at the end of the show, made it very painful for us to even stand up. So after multiple different seats, we gave up and stopped going. Like I said, more of a personal issue than a ship issue. Being a cruise critic member, I don’t believe we’ve use any ship/line excursion except for the 12-metre yacht race in St. Maarten. Unfortunately, the 3-yachts were damaged by the hurricane and not an option. We spent this cruise checking out all inclusive resorts at the various ports. Some good, some not so good. It was a learning experience. Lastly, we have to say that getting the consigliere service was a huge plus for us. We parked our car offsite at Safepark (no issues whatsoever) and was dropped off at 10:30am. We were on the ship at 11:00 checking spa appointments out as well as discovering the Eclipse. At 11:30, we had the private lunch in the Moonlight Sonata and didn’t have to deal with the cattle call in the buffet. The daily treats in the cabin were nice, but the better cabin steward was extra special. Lastly, the early debarkation time was also sweet as we walked off at 8:00 (after a special breakfast meal), got our luggage, the parking lot shuttle showed within 10 mins, and at 9:00, we were on 95 heading north. Except for the slow dining service and the seats in the theater, the Eclipse met and exceeded our expectations. Thank you Celebrity! Read Less

I agree that there was room to improve in areas. The itinerary was great and my cabin steward excellent, the food was good but not excellent , I ate in the café did not go to dining rooms or specialty. The shops and the personnel in the shops were snobbish, I am not a dressy dresser and felt like I was looked down upon every time I went to shop. The casino was horrible and extremely noisy and service was not good and the table game players were the only ones that got attention. The WiFI manager was extremely rude and talked to you like you are an idiot. One of the most disappointing things was the lack of a steel drum band or even decent music at the pool areas except for about an hour a day. The shows by the staff were good but the guest shows and entertainment was just ok. A lot of shore excursions were offered but I only booked one, it was a catamaran sunset cruise in Aruba, too many people booked on this sailing couldn't even get a drink, would not recommend this unless you want to be crammed in to a box with a bunch of people. We sailed this same itinerary last year and loved it so much that we booked again. This year we found some deficiencies in several areas that will likely see us trying something different for our Vacation dollar and likely try another cruise line upon our next cruise. On the positive side: We loved the itinerary and our shore excursions . Why Celebrity would cut their most popular itinerary is baffling. ABC Islands + Barbados , St Lucia , St Martin ,Antigua was tremendous . Embarkation and Disembarkation was smooth and easy . Room was good - Room steward did a great job Negatively : Celebrity Performer Shows - Were absolutely terrible - they looked unorganized = Why bother even having shows if you are just going to do them half ass.. Embarrassing. Other Acts - With the exception of maybe 2 performers they were Poor. ( Last year we watched all 14 Shows and thought they were Good - Very Good ) Main Dining Room - Food was just ok - we sat in 2 different sections in Anytime dining and one set of waiters were friendly and did their best , while the others seemed annoyed that we were there.. We went for lunch on a few occasions and really enjoyed them ( more than the Diners ) Oceanview Grill - Not good - Food was just ok and seemed crowded most of the time Cafe Al Bacio - We like this location ... however one of the workers kept counting down her days every morning to everyone saying "I only have 6 more days.. 5 more days .. 4 more days .. till i am out of here for good" ... I really don't need the negativity or someone counting my hard earned vacation days down - People on the Cruise were mostly very friendly , however there are always a few who just make you shake your head .. Some people have no respect for others ( IE : Line ups for excursions - and of course the chair hogs on sea days ) Overall we enjoyed the Cruise itinerary and vistiing the different locations.. However we will likely choose to not Cruise the caribean in the near future and likely visit one of these islands via a resort if we do. Read Less

Our previous cruise experience is with Princess (Sapphire P and Island P) and Costa (C Concordia and C Luminosa). The last Princess cruise, passing the Panama Canal, was less than a year ago and it´s tempting to compare our impressions of Celebrity and Princess. (Costa is a bit different – not bad, especially if you like Italian food, but different.) It´s obvious that Celebrity and Princess are playing in the same league of price and quality. In fact, we think that the choice between the two can be based on itinerary: Both are generally good enough. A short comparison, though: A bit better on Princess: Food and service in main dining room. Professional attention to my need of gluten free food with offers of specially prepared pasta etc. Several GF choices in buffet and the International Café. Variety and quality in entertainment and enrichment programs. Generally more roomy public spaces. A useable Promenade Deck (full walk-around on Sapphire P; reduced on Island P, hidden behind lifeboats on C Eclipse). A bit better on Celebrity: Service and friendly atmosphere. Cleanliness and disease protection. Shover and amenities in stateroom. Buffet (Oceanview) better organized and mostly less crowded. Free room service which can deliver a full breakfast with egg and bacon. Fast debarkation process and luggage handling. Equal on both or very close: Smooth and fast embarkation. Comfortable stateroom and beds. Security and passenger information systems. Constant overselling of drink packages and special dining. Good but expensive shore excursions. All things considered we had a very nice cruise on the Eclipse with excellent weather conditions and seven interesting islands to see in two weeks. Our lasting impression is the hard working and ever friendly crew, with our stateroom attendant Irwan beeing outstanding. We were also impressed by the hygiene standard: Employees were actively serving hand sanitizers everytime we entered dining room or buffet. The public restrooms on the ship were constantly manned and cleaned which made them a realistic choice. Cloths towels in all public washrooms. The high service level might have been inspired by the Captain´s (Leo) good example: He was more present all over the ship than any skipper we have seen so far, he even said goodbye personally at the gangway when we ended our cruise. Furthermore he showed good wit and entertaining talents, both in his daily announcements and on stage in ”The Liar´s Club”. Energetic and humorous Cruise Director Eddy was also frequently seen and heard on the ship. Otherwise we found the entertainment and the enrichment lectures being so and so. A few shows – including the final ”Euphoria” – were great with very skilled dancers and acrobats. The music was generally very loud and singers a bit less attractive with high pitch and high volume. We could recognize very few of the songs performed, maybe due to a tight royalty budget. We were however a bit surprised that the music on board, both on the stage and in the lounges, almost never had any connection with the itinerary. No calypso and no West Indies tunes, not even at the sailaway. The same observation goes for the food: Local specialities were rarely offered. The main dining room generally offered good food and service. We encountered however a few misses: A French onion soup with hardly any traces of onion, some undercooked fish and a totally failed panacotta (also in the buffet). The noise level in this big MDR with two floors and hundreds of eating and chatting people was a bit disturbing. Furthermore the reclained chairs there were almost unusable for anyone with back problems, so we had about half of our dinners in the buffet. Speaking of furniture, we noticed a prefence for huge armchairs and sofas in the lounges. Most of them were frankly to big to sit comfortably in for average sized people. These unnecessarily bulky pieces took a lot of space in popular areas, e.g. by the dance floor in the atrium outside the MDR, and made it almost impossible to find empty seating other than in the more obscure corners. It would be hard to exceed the performance of Captain Leo and the cruise director, Andy. They brought incredible energy and professionalism to all that they did. We also loved our wait staff and our cabin steward who performed at the highest level. This was our fourth Celebrity cruise and our tenth overall and it was the best in terms of ship services and performance. We were happy to visit St. Maarten and see the progress of the recovery efforts. As Dutch speakers, we loved the visits to the Dutch Islands. I think our favorites were Barbados and Curacao. We also enjoyed visiting Bonaire and the snorkeling was great there. The onboard entertainment was varied and of high quality. Jane Curry was the real standout. The onboard singers, dancers and orchestra also did amazing jobs. The shows were much higher quality than we have seen on other cruise lines. The only complaint we have was the hotel we booked through Celebrity at the beginning and end of the cruise. The Marriott Courtyard Airport was terrible. Both times we were given views of a wall or air conditioning systems. The transfer from the hotel to the ship was a disaster and we had to argue to get them to honor our transfer. It also got us to the ship very late and we missed the Concierge Class luncheon. Read Less

This was our 5th cruise, the 3rd with Celebrity. We really love the Solstice Class ships! Our cabin was very clean and tidy. There was plenty of space to leave our clothes. The cruise itinerary was perfect: very nice islands indeed! We especially enjoyed the overnight stay in Curacao! Just a quick suggestion: We always left ports quite early, even if the next port was just some 70 seamiles away. This could have been made smoothly even if we had left the previous port at 11 pm. We would have had more time to enjoy the evening at the islands... Dining in Moonlight Sonata was very nice. The card changed daily, but there were some all-time favourites. We did not feel the necessity to go for specialty dining. We enjoyed anytime-dining with shared tables. That way, we met a lot of people from many different parts of the world. Service was great. We especially enjoyed our pre-dinner cocktail at the Sunset Bar. A great team! Every sea day you could chose between action and a quite place to sit down and relax. We never had the feeling of being on a ship together with nearly 3000 passengers. We highly recommend this cruise. What a pity that Celebrity is not offering the 14 day cruises any more! Read Less

We have sailed on Celebrity ships numerous times and have nothing but good things to say about them. This was the first experience with the Eclipse and what a pleasure it was. First let me start with the crew and this is a case where "lead by example" paid off. The captain was not only approachable, but polite, funny and hospitable. The rest of the crew followed suit. We not only opted for three specialty dining choices, but also a special dining with the officers seated at each of the tables. This allowed for great dialog on a small intimate setting. The food was great in the main dining room and even greater in the specialty restaurants. We did a wine tasting and I found a wine that I really liked that was not on the wine lists. It was communicated to the Sommeliers wherever I ate. It was the nicest touch. The ship was very clean and well maintained. Saw one instance where a door to the theater would not stay open and within minutes the problem was addressed and fixed. The entertainment was really good with only one performance being less than acceptable. As for excursions we opted to do only one through the ship with the rest being arranged through the locals. First, Based upon vacations to go ratings, this is listed as a 5.5 star ship. Three months earlier I sailed on the Carnival Elation which is a 3.5 star ship. My review has the perspective of what should be significantly different ships and experiences. What Celebrity did better: Entertainment in the theater was excellent. The shows performed by the onboard cast as well as the quality of the entertainers far exceeded anything on the Carnival cruise. With one exception of the juggler/uni-cyclist, all shows were phenomenal. Under no circumstance should you miss the Liars Club with Captain Leo. Skip anything else but not this. The Hot Glass Show was second only to the Theater. I cannot believe they are discontinuing this as attendance was always great. The artist were very talented and knowledgeable. I learned a great appreciation of blown glass and am thrilled to have a new vase in our house. Music around the ship was very good though geared to a 60+ aged crowd. Somehow even 80s night ended with Beatles and other 60s music. I appreciated the quality of the talent and knew I was getting on a cruise where I would be significantly younger than average. We did not participate with other entertainment venues for trivia, pool games, etc. There seemed to be something for everybody. The service throughout the ship was excellent. Room stewards, bartenders, waiters, dining staff, etc. What more can you say? The only complaint was bar service in the main dining room but that equated to one person out of hundreds. The cabin was spacious with good storage. A few minor complaints. First, the bed was very firm. Somewhere our room steward found some extra padding which corrected the preference and we were very comfortable after that. Another complaint was the length of the bed. They have beds that are rounded on the end which helps mobility in the room but is too short for a taller person. I am 6'-4" and found the bed to be the length of a twin instead of the queen advertised. I have heard similar complaints from others on the ship. We were in the Sunset veranda rooms at the back of the ship and I think the height of the rooms were altered to allow additional height in the restaurants below. After stepping up in the bathroom, my hair would brush the ceiling in the shower. I do not think all rooms have this issue. Food: I am not sure what I expected but I did not quite get what I was wanting. Dining was always good and usually excellent. However I did feel there was a decent bit of room to improve. Some meals were unimpressive. Beef dishes especially lacked anything special with the exception of the filet and the prime rib which were excellent. One visit to Qsine was beyond compare. There is no doubt the talent on the ship is there to cook the very best. I highly recommend this experience with a group so you can taste many of the incredible dishes they provide. The Oceanview cafe was nothing special and seemed to serve the safe selections every day, lunch and dinner. There was a specialty every day but so much was the same that it got old by the end of the cruise. The mast bar had a good burger but here is one place I will sing the praise of Carnival. There is no comparison to the Carnival burger. We had room service most mornings for coffee and sometimes breakfast. It was average at best. Not sure the purpose of a plain omelette other than being a flat cooked egg. The cheese and fillings is what gives them character but was not an option. Coffee was fairly strong but good. Took a little extra cream to ease the bite. I was surprised how similar the schedule, events, and promotions were between the Carnival and Celebrity. Every day is was selling everything everywhere. Jewelry, bingo, drinks, gambling, etc. was over 50% of the daily activities. I guess this earns the cruise extra money and does appeal to enough to be worthwhile. I was hoping on this much nicer cruise this would not be so prevalent. Overall, it was a great experience and an awesome vacation. Read Less

It was just over 5 years ago that we first sailed on the Celebrity Eclipse. The ship has not changed and we found that the ship is neat & clean and that the staff are very friendly. The only complaint we had was that the escargot was not served hot and it was just lukewarm. One night my wife sent it back 3 times but they still couldn't get it served hot. But in the grand scheme of things if this is the only complaint we had in our 14 days then it must have been a great cruise, and it was. Our fellow cruises were typical of a Celebrity Cruise, it was a 50+ age group and very few kids or teenagers. If you are looking for a cruise tha provides non-stop entertainement then this is not the cruise line for you. The evening shows were typical cruise ship shows but the exceptions would have been Jane Curry, Amy Lee, & December63 who put on great shows. Celebrities Future Cruises is a good deal due due to the reduced deposit you pay and the added OBC if you book while you are onboard. All in all it was a great cruise and we fell we received very good value. Read Less

This was our fourth trip with Celebrity Eclipse. We have always been very happy to be aboard this ship and this trip was no disappointment. We flew into Miami the day before boarding and were accommodated in a very comfortable hotel near the airport. The transfer to the ship though was chaotic and at one point we thought that the Celebrity rep was close to engaging in a fight with the coach driver. I have to say it was not much better when we disembarked. These problems aside everything else ran smoothly. This was a Caribbean cruise and was to stop at some new destinations for us. No tendering required so each time we docked disembarkation was effortless. As expected we thoroughly enjoyed our visits taking a couple of trips with Celebrity as well as organising our own at the ports. A good as the Celebrity trips were I think we would probably just arrange all of our own in future when in the Caribbean as it is simplicity itself and gives a wide choice on the day. The staff on board almost almost universally friendly and helpful. We did have one issue which the manager of the section concerned sorted our expertly and to our entire satisfaction. We also had a problem one night when returning to the cabin we discovered a horrible smell outside and inside our cabin. A call to guest relations resulted in the very prompt appearance of maintenance staff who immediately set about resolving the problem. We received a call from guest relations to explain what they were doing and a follow up call the next day. Later on we received chocolates and money off future cruises vouchers as compensation. We could not fault their response. We ate in the main dining room every day and the food was excellent. The waiting staff were wonderful. The food in the buffet area was also very good the only problem being the number of people which made finding seats a bit difficult at times. Celebrity does entertainment extremely well and the shows we chose to go to were really entertaining and highly professional. We also enjoyed several of the excellent daytime talks. Our cabin was comfortable and we really appreciated the relatively spacious bathroom. There could have been a slight problem as our balcony overlooked a small stretch of deck designated for smoking. a little unpleasant sometimes but fortunately this deck seemed not to be in high demand by smokers. The ship itself is beginning to show its age but is kept in good order and very clean and tidy. This was a wonderful cruise and we look forward to our next one, with Celebrity, later this year. We choose this cruise because we read positive reviews. Each night we had to wait at least 20 minutes for a place in the restaurant regardless of the time we chose. We were always placed by the waiters station where we had waiters reaching over our heads to serve. We were very disappointed with food in the anytime restaurant. Portions were very small. My husband ordered scallops as a starter and was served 1 on a small shell with a teaspoon of dressing. One evening had to send back steak as we were unable to even cut through them. The food was always tepid. Entertainment was very poor only 3 “shows” in 2 weeks the rest were single artists who spent most of the hour informing us of the various shows they had appeared in. Considering the average of guests on the ship music wasn’t really appropriate. Was surprised as the Entertment Director wasn’t exactly a very young man. Thank goodness for the humour of Captain Leo the voice from above!!! We had to rise before 7-00am to make sure we could get a sun bed although there was a notice indicating not to keep them if not using immediately. We seemed to spend a lot of time trying to find somewhere to sit both during the day and evening. Too crowded. Celebrity are only interested in selling. Shop staff tried to intice us in to spend more money in expensive shops. Why would I spend 30 dollars to purchase a Tee shirt advertising CelebrityX ??? Read Less

I had been on this ship 3 times previously and so i knew that I liked it. The food , entertainment, crew and weather were all super. We met the nicest people at our Elite Lounge each evening. The itinerary was also great. The Cruise Director , Eddy Jenkins did a super job and Captain Leo was very visible. It was remarkable how they turned the ship on a dime to get into or out of some ports. My room attendant, Muhe, was so obliging to any requests that I had and cleaned my cabin each day while I was at breakfast and dinner which was so nice. The Select Dining Hostess, Ivana, took us so promptly each night and placed us at very nice tables of 6.We met so many others this way and saw them regularly at the Buffet or around the ship. I have never had such great service in the Elite Lounge by the Bar Staff at the Bar. Drinks were ready each evening when we arrived!. Read Less

An enjoyable 14 day cruise. The ship is very attractive and well maintained. This was our tenth cruise and third on Celebrity. Embarkation was quick and smooth - the Port of Miami seems to do it right! Disembarkation (Easter Sunday) was long delayed due to a shortage of port customs personnel. Our cabin steward was excellent and the Blu restaurant (Aqua Class Stateroom) was a real highlight. The service was excellent and food quite good. The fellow Aqua passengers were enjoyable - we met a number of other couples and looked forward to seeing them again throughout the cruise. We ate in Blu for both breakfast and dinner every day and only ventured into the Ocean Cafe for lunch - always crowded and similar aggressive behaviors we've witnessed on other cruise lines. The main dining room on sea days was nice for lunch. We skipped the specialty restaurants (the up-charge for Qsine was $45 per person) and hard to justify given the quality of Blu. The entertainment was fairly good (the production shows: "Topper" and "Euphoria" were very good). "Rock City" was tired and the music was not well chosen for the singers' voices. In general the volume was too loud (and singers voices tended to be "screechy"). Many other passengers had similar complaints. The solo violinist, Amy Lee, and vocalist, Jane Curry, were exceptional. The string duo, Decameron, were also very good. We listened to them in the Ensemble Lounge before dinner each evening - very talented with an ever changing program. The Corning Glass Works was great - we viewed the demonstrations 6 or 7 days. Unfortunately, Celebrity is ending its relationship with Corning and changing to a "revenue generating" company with passengers attempting their own "glass blowing". We contracted for 4 of the ship's excursions - three "Highlights" tours of Barbados, St. Lucia and Antiqua and a "Sail and Snorkel" on Aruba. All 4 were a miss. Most of the 3 to 3.5 hours on the 3 land tours were spent traveling on bumpy, twisty island roads with two - 10 minute stops to view the sights. A real waste of time (and money). The bus broke down on Barbados and one of the passengers vomited on the Antigua bus (it was that rough of a ride). The Aruba "Sail and Snorkel" was also unfortunately a miss - nothing to see and a long catamaran ride to the snorkel location. We chose our own excursion on Bonaire ("BonaireVistaTours" which was recommended by TripAdvisor) - about 40% the price of similar Celebrity excursions and much better quality. The health and fitness gym was nice - we both used it on 7 of the 14 days. Nice equipment and very well maintained. Read Less

I had a 14 night cruise as a 25 year marriage gift from my wife. We ad been looking forward to 2 weeks of relaxation on Celebrity Eclipse around the Caribean islands. We had stateroom 1158 on 10th deck. It was a consierge stateroom and should be one of the better ones as should the ship. We were impressed about the ship - the stateroom and the view over the see. We had a great welcome lunch in the main restaurant. Everything was promising for the next 2 weeks. However when getting to bed the nightmare started. The cabin had some huge vibrations which made it impossible to get a good nights sleep. When complaining to guest relations we were told that the ship was fully booked and could not offer us another room. After a week we had a new room without vibrations and could finally sleep but by now the lack of sleep for a week and the fact that we could not relax in the cabin made our fantastic cruise a nightmare. We were told thcat this was quite normal but that the heavy vibaitions would migrate to other rooms on the next cruise and they could never predict where it would hit. I do not believe this explanation - why didnt it move the whole cruise? After some heavy negotions we were compensated with an amount we could live with. The compansation was as a discount on a cruise with Celebrity Cruiseline. So if we want to use the compensation we have to make another cruise with them. I we dit not have the discount I would say: NEVER CELEBRITY AGAIN. The staff - the food was wonderful and saved our holiday outside our room Read Less

This was my 9th ever cruise, my first on Celebrity. I had previously cruised Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Princess, and Holland America. I was searching for a cruise line to stay loyal to, and I believe I found the winner. I booked this cruise only about two months ahead of embarkation day, without doing any research on the Eclipse. The reason I selected this cruise was because of the itinerary. I wanted a longer cruise, and I wanted to visit some ports that I'd never been to before. Because of the longer itinerary, we were able to visit some of the southern-most islands in the Caribbean. And in my mind, the best way to start a cruise is with a sea day (or two), and the best way to end a cruise is with a sea day (or two). This itinerary starts with two sea days, then four port days, then a well-deserved sea day to recover, then four more port days, then it ends with two glorious sea days to wind down. It was one of the most perfect itineraries I've experienced. Having not researched the Eclipse ahead of cruising, I was pleasantly surprised to find an elegantly decorated, clean, and well kept vessel. I really liked the non-smoking casino. What a breath of fresh air - literally! - to not have to smell the smoke when above, below, or next to the casino. At one point I had to walk right next to the casino and I held my breath for a while. When I had to breathe, I couldn't believe it - NO SMOKE! It was the first non-smoking casino I had ever seen. Nicely done, Celebrity. The smokers had to smoke somewhere, and I did encounter them when walking on the track daily, and on the pool deck area. I was disappointed that one of the smoking areas was right next to the walking track. I thought that was not well thought-out. My cabin was 1208 in the rear of the ship, Deck 10. It was the first time I had a room overlooking the ship's wake. I really enjoyed it. The only downfall of a room at the back is the occasional soot from the smoke-stack that falls on your balcony. Well, maybe another downfall is the LOOOONG walk from the elevators/stairwell to the room, but that didn't bother me too much. Otherwise, loved the view, loved the room. My room steward was fantastic, always had what I needed. I was in Concierge class, so I enjoyed the little extras, like a pillow menu, afternoon snack, and a special embarkation lunch in the main dining room. The number one thing that makes a good cruise for me is the food. And this cruise did not disappoint. The food in the main dining room was spectacular. Everything I ate was delicious and gourmet. The portions were perfect. Some would say maybe a little small, but I can eat A LOT and I was more than full after every meal. The amazing thing was, this is the first ever cruise that I don't go to bed with an over-full stomach and heartburn. By the time bed-time rolled around each night, I felt well-digested. Not hungry, but not full. I hate going to bed full and uncomfortable, and it never happened on this cruise. I ate in the Main Dining Room almost every night. I only ate at the buffet a few times for lunch and breakfast. I am not a fan of the buffets, typically, but the food here was good and the selection was varied. Loved the ice cream - real scoops as well as soft serve, on cones or in cups, with a selection of toppings! From the best of my memory this was available every day. The flavors rotated and there was great variety. The pizza was not impressive. The burgers at the grill were delicious. I did eat at the three main specialty restaurants: Qsine, Murano, and Tuscano (I think those are the names). Qsine was a fun dinner, but I think this would be best experienced with a group of 4 or more. The food was delicious and the presentations were fun and creative. There was just way too much food for two people to appreciate it all. Tuscano was just so-so, in my opinion. I did not eat pasta there, so I can't comment on that. I ordered a steak and was disappointed. The breads and salads were delicious, however. And Murano was amazing. Loved my experience here and the filet mignon was DIVINE. I did not attend any of the theater shows so I cannot comment. That's just not my thing. I didn't see a comedian or a magic show or anything like that. But I did experience the bands and small musical groups that would perform in the common areas throughout the ship and I was super-impressed. Very talented musicians and tasteful music. I spent quite a bit of time in the spa, mostly because after my first massage with Karen from Zimbabwe, I couldn't stop coming back for more. She was amazing. I received three hot-stone massages from Karen on this cruise and can't recommend her enough. I can't comment on anyone else's experience, but Karen never once tried to upsell me on anything or tried to sell me a product. Just gave me the world's best hot-stone massage and only talked when I engaged her in conversation. But I enjoyed her so much that we visited quite a bit. But when I went quite, she did, too. It was perfect. The service by all staff members was exceptional. Didn't have a bad customer-service experience at all. Room stewards I passed in the hall would always greet me with a smile and some nice words. I booked shore excursions through Celebrity at almost every stop. I felt the price for these excursions, in most cases, was fair and not too far off of what you would pay if booking independently. In St. Maarten I took an excursion to St. Barts. The ferry ride was VERY bumpy and not for people who experience motion-sickness. If that's you, take Dramamine ahead of time and follow the instructions of the crew members to help avoid getting sick. St. Barts was a lovely island. Warning, beaches are topless (optional), and some even fully nude-optional. I booked a driving island tour in Antigua. Enjoyed it, but can't think of anything exceptional about it. I went to a "Beach Club" beach day at Carlisle Bay. Received a mediocre lunch, a free drink, and a beach chair with an umbrella. Lots of vendors walking by trying to get you to buy jet-ski time and dresses, etc. But I just loved hanging out in the water here. NOT a snorkeling spot. Booked a driving tour in St. Lucia. LOVED the island of St. Lucia. Lush and gorgeous. But the drive to the Pitons was kind of long and on very winding roads. I think next time I would choose to visit the Pitons via a catamaran excursion. But I can't really complain about my tour. I enjoyed it. It was sad for me to see many stray dogs on St. Lucia. I'm such a dog-lover, it pains me to see sad, hungry, mangey, limping dogs. Booked a land and sea excursion in Bonaire. Driving part was interesting, but loved the time on the sailboat. We put of the sails and turned of the motor and did some true sailing. The snorkeling in Bonaire was fantastic. In Curacao I booked excursions independent of the cruise line because what I wanted to do was either not available or sold out. The first things we did was an ATV tour. It was a long, dusty, dirty day, but it was memorable and a ton of fun. The second day I chose a shorter tour: Jet-skiing and snorkeling. The snorkeling on this tour was fantastic. They took us to a shipwreck and there were tons of fish. Lots of fun. Jet-skiing on the ocean was bumpy and rough, but FUN. And finally, in Aruba, I booked a helmet dive thing on a private resort/waterpark island. Had a great time. So if you made it this far, I hope I have been able to adequately describe my cruise experience. I loved almost everything about it. Celebrity felt like a higher class of cruising and I enjoyed it so much. I even booked my next cruise while on board - a first for me! This cruise is highly recommended. Do it!! Read Less

This was a wonderful cruise with an excellent crew who seemed to often go above and beyond. The restaurants were very good and different enough that everyone was able to experience a variety of dining options if they chose to do so. We enjoyed the shore excursions. They were well planned and it was easy to get off the ship at each port of call without any delays. We also enjoyed the entertainment. With the exception of one or 2 shows, the rest were well done. We also participated in several wine activities and especially enjoyed the workshop on custom blending our own wine. We liked the Smart Chic option versus the more formal nights. We felt that it was most appropriate for this cruise in a warm weather, casual environment. Our cabin was very comfortable and large enough. Our cabin steward did a great job of keeping us comfortable. Read Less
