We have have been traveling a fair bit for the past few decades. India and Sri Lanka have always been part of our to-go list but only wanted to do it on a cruise because we did not want to stay locally. Imagine our delight when we found this route. We have been to the other places included - Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman but we still joined a couple of the tours to revisit these wonderful places. Celebrity Constellation is a very tidy ship. The staff on board including our cabin steward made sure it was kept immaculate. Not once did I see plates or rubbish stacked anywhere. The ship is old but you will be surprised that we never saw any rust or dilapidated flooring, walls etc. Furniture - in the public and dining places were all in very good condition. The biggest downfall of this cruise were the shore excursions. The choices they gave were basically not interesting - just driving around the cities, having a few stops for pictures and a bit of shopping in the local filthy markets. The descriptions of the tours are not well prepared and often misleading. India is a place where people in their 50s visit. They let you walk and walk in the afternoon but they dont say that in the description of the tours. I was in two tours where guests complained to the guide why we have been walking for over 2 hours and worse, walking around in circles in those crowded streets. My husband and I thought it was just us having a whinge privately until we actually heard a couple of the other guests call the attention of the guides. Also, the places they chose to offer more often than not had no historical significance or mildly put, just useless and not interesting for the ordinary traveler. I have heard of other stories where they sent them to filthy plantation sites that did not even have any water. My husband and I think those who prepared and selected the tours on offer did not take their job seriously. I think they just came up with the list without even visiting or trying out these tours themselves. The experience we had with these tours have forced us to re-evaluate our future bookings with Celebrity. We compared the shore excursions being offered by other cruiseliners from the same port. Unfortunately, we found out that Celebrity does offer the poorest type of shore excursions for the other ports of our future cruises. People go on a cruise to see things and not just stay in the cabins. Hence, shore excursions are important. Another thing, we did not like in Celebrity Constellation is the limited number of places to dine. It was a 15 day cruise. Obviously, you cannot expect us to dine at the Blu ( for Aqua Class passengers) the whole time. They only had the main dining room ( San Marco), the Oceanview Buffet and the 3 specialty restaurants, the Tuscan Grill ( never changed its menu) , QSine ( food is truly horrible here) and the SUshi place. I have been used to ships with having at least 8 restaurants on offer. It is not the ship's fault but I think it is worth mentioning in order to avoid disappointment. The Oceanview buffet is were 90% of the passengers have their lunch. Choices are abundant but they seem to taste the same and are often cold. There were days when the food was actually great. The Entertainment is another disappointment. We thought the performers were auditioning for a job when the ship docked. The Cabin was okay except for the fact that the ship only had 5 movies on offer and was played on rotation. Hence by Day 6 you will have the video on Day 1 on offer again. You can opt to rent a movie. With Princess and Norwegian, if you are in this cabin class ( which is one step lower than the suites) you get a wide selection of movies. You can forget the TV unless you can stand 16 days of Fox News. In summary, you need to really do your research when joining a cruise of this type. It was not the worst cruise we ever were on BUT it could have been heaps better if our host pointed us to the right direction in order to see the better side of what India has to offer. The service we received from everyone from the cabin attendant, the restaurants, room service, stores, guest service, etc is one of the best we have experienced in a cruise liner. Read Less

We did this cruise because it included a land tour of the The Golden Triangle, which was fabulous. We have been on four celebrity cruises, so we felt confident in booking this one. Firstly the pros : Overall the staff were very friendly The ship was clean and tidy The entertainment was very good some nights When in port going ashore was run quite smoothly The pool area was kept clean and tidy Announcements were kept to a minimum Cons: The library was a disgrace, it is so minimal, nothing to read. Lack of meaningful activities, we are completely over trivia, bingo. Putting competitions ect. Several people complained to us that they were bored, it was time to go home they said. The upselling is tedious and cheapens the brand I ordered drinks at the pool bar, they were so awful I never repeated thay again. Drinks at the reflection bar were quite acceptable. We always look forward to the last night to enjoy the lobster tail. When it was served to us we were appalled, the majority of the shell contained some sort of filling which was inedible, no lobster flesh. We sent our meal back uneaten, shame on Celebrity, if you are cost cutting don't put lobster on the menu ! I think Celebrity have forgotten who their core market are, after many cruises I can see a large section is made up of baby boomers and older who would enjoy a lot more activities of enrichment than they are being offered. At certain times of the day tea, coffee and water were only available at the end of the Ocean view Cafe on level ten. Read Less

We have travelled with Celebrity before including this ship and Equinox. Although old and due for refit the overall condition was good. A few areas could do with some updating overall it was good with some areas having recently been re-fitted. Our cabin was good. Service was excellent everywhere and the food generally very good. Entertainment varied as it does on all ships but was up to standard. The audio volume was, of course, too high making female singers very harsh but the management will continue to ignore requests to lower the volume as 'they know best'. We had a bundled Classic drinks package which was useful but no one understood how it worked. Wine lists were difficult to find and it was not easy to find out what named drinks and pricing existed in each bar and restaurant. Some wine types ran out within 2-3 days. The daily cocktail was sometimes within the package and at other times not. The Miami management need to review how it all works. Drinks within the package were not charged the 18% gratuity which surprised and pleased us! More UK beers would be nice and not chilled. Excursions were the usual mix of good and not so good and now you have to ask for a shore map as they are kept in hiding behind the Guest Relations counter and not on show as in previous years. Internet package costs are astronomical so don't expect to use Wi-Fi on board unless you are rich. Some public areas of the ship were too cold and management need to check stat settings. Despite the negatives the experience was good. Read Less

We loved the itinerary of this cruise. Singapore embarkation was quick and luggage delivered to our room. Our Balcony cabin 8031 was spacious with enough closet space. However the bathroom mirror fogged up after the shower. We reported it to the house keeping and front desk. After 3 service call the repairman couldn't fix the problem indicating the problem with their exhaust system of the ship. I am a vegetarian the first few days the food was very skimpy, after speaking to Restaurant manager the problem was fixed. The dining room staff Elias and Johnson were friendly and very efficient. Our room attendant Daria is very sweet and always asked about our comfort. The shows are excellent. Overall it was a good cruise, hope celebrity will replace this ship with a newer one. Shore Excursion we took Colombo, Goa, Muskat and Dubai excursion. Most of the excursions were city tours. The tours were OK. Overall thecruise was average due to creeky old ship. Read Less

We stayed in Singapore the night before in the Copthorne riverfront hotel where we were able to walk along the river before being picked up by taxi at 1pm. Embarkation was very quick as we are elite we were put through a short queue. With all visas checked and in order we were onboard within 1/2 hour. Cabin was available when we boarded at 1.30 and cases arrived about 4 in time for muster which was crowded but quick. the cabin 1126 was excellent, just what we ordered, peaceful and kept very clean with a good shower. Being elite we had cocktails and canopies from 5pm. it was good to meet over a drink before dinner, Chris the captains club manager mingled as did many other officers We had 1st sitting in the main dining room. food was always very good and our waiter made sure that we were happy with our meals every day breakfast in the Oceanview was where they serve the best poached eggs and egg Benedict sometimes we had breakfast in the dining room The best ice-cream at sea is available all day in the oceanview and always served with a smile entertainment was varied with only one bad night and that was the Elton John tribute, half of the audience had got up and walked out of the 1st show. there was music and bands or games to attend so plenty going on. By 11 the ship was very quiet as the cruise was port intense we booked 4 excursions before we left home through the celebrity site when we saw the 30% off we did find extra excursions when on ship and changed our basic trip to Cochin to a longer and fuller itinerary which included a boat trip, they refunded the money paid and i rebooked, so it worked out well. Staff from the ship were on the trip to help out and i must praise Spicey from the children club , who supervised with such care we loved the tea plantation trip in Sri Lanca We did the Mombai on the Move on the 1st day in Bombay which included a train journey and on the 2nd day the markets . both trips were very informative and enjoyable Goa we stayed on board and enjoyed the facilities At Muscat we docked in the town and so walked as we had been before. the souks are very near with cafes along the sea front . this was a very pleasant place to stop and just walk Dubai we have also been to before. most people on the ship booked the open top bus Phuket was by tender straight into the town, tender was very quick both ways and as it was our 1st stop we just walked in the lovely sunshine along the beach front We loved this cruise, we had a good itinerary, met some lovely people and found that the staff onboard were the most friendliest that we have encounted Our flight was not till 2.30 am so we booked into the Millennium hotel which was opposite the airport and they provided transport back at 11pm. That was better than staying at the airport all day Cruise was booked with Alana at Cruise.co.uk who looked after us and made sure that we had the correct visas etc and was always available for advice Read Less

Chose cruise because of itinerary but also because of good experience of good previous Celebrity experience. Great cruise. Singapore to Dubai via India. Our 3rd celebrity cruise but first on a Millennium class ship Embarkation in Singapore very slow but disembarkation very efficient. We had 2 nights in Singapore pre cruise and 2 nights Abu Dhabi post cruise in our cruise package from Iglu Cruises. Hotels good and all but one private transfer went smoothly. Very happy with ship. Never seemed crowded. Preferred dining room layout to the Solstice class ships. Not the same wow factor admittedly but seemed roomier. Food excellent. Great variety, particularly in Ocean View buffet restaurant. Best buffet we've experienced. Service in main dining room a bit slow at times but good otherwise. Think the kitchen struggled to cope the nights there was an extra special cook to order dish. such as lobster or Beef Wellington. Very friendly crew. Must have said Good Morning about 20 times on way to breakfast!! Entertainment - high quality guest artists and varied shows. Ships own productions ok. Best was the Broadway Show, particularly Les Miserables. Loved the Modern Strings duo who played at various venues around ship and the guitarist. Lacked enrichment talks about the countries we were visiting. "Beyond Podium " talks apart from one on Buddhism not relevant to itinerary. Ports of Call talks more about selling excursions than giving information about the country or port. Loved Cafe al Bacio. Went there most afternoons and had quality coffee and yummy cakes. Staff particularly Marren and Anastasia very attentive. Enjoyed the Modern Strings duo music there too. Bliss! Cabin great. Outside on deck 3 midship. Comfortable and bright with large circular window and no higher deck overhang. Good sized shower and nice built in bathroom furniture. Cabin in good convenient location. Kept perfectly by our steward Yacob. Atrium a bit dull looking and lacked atmosphere compared to Solstice class ships. Rendevous bar decor a bit dull too but that may be addresses in the upcoming refurb. Would be nice to have a Piano Bar in Atrium or something to give atmosphere. Most attractive bar area was deck 4 martini and crush bars but very popular and hard to get a seat there. Pool area and top decks had plenty of sunbeds but finding shade was difficult. More areas with sun canopies would be good. All in all a wonderful experience. had forgotten how good Celebrity is since 6 years since last cruised with them. Will be back! Thanks to Celebrity and to our travel Company Iglu, who were most efficient at organising the whole wonderful trip. Read Less

After a gruelling but uneventful 13 hour flight to Singapore with BA we walked from Arrivals (not far at all) to the Crowne Plaza, which was obviously WAY out of Singapore centre, Why oh why Celebrity? It was a lovely hotel but we were a 'captive audience' with no choice of eateries etc. and no chance to see the beauty of the city at night. Bad choice Celebrity! The following morning we were transported to the dock as normal. Embarkation was no trouble. It was lovely to be back on the 'Connie' once again! She was just how we remembered her but now a little tired and in need of a facelift perhaps. We love the layout of this class of Celebrity ship. Not too large to get around and sensible sized lounges etc. (Unlike some of the newer ships we've encountered). Due to the early arrival, the cabin was not ready, no biggie. Spent a while in the buffet with friends who had travelled in from another part of the World. The food was up to the standard we have come to expect from Celebrity and there was plenty of choice. Our cabin was on deck eight and the balcony protruded further than many on the ship. This gave us an uninterrupted view along the length of the vessel. Although a decent size with adequate storage, the cabin appeared somewhat smaller than on the likes of Silhouette, Reflection etc. and again showed some signs of age. Brilliant cabin steward! Our first encounter with the main dining room was quite disappointing it has to be said! The food was quite poorly cooked and tasted as if it been stood under a heat lamp for a while. Not a great start. Sadly it never really improved. Although were persevered with the dining room most evenings, and there were a few very good dishes during the cruise, it was certainly below the standard we have become used to with Celebrity and far short of our experience on Independence of the Seas, last June. The dining room staff and waiters were brilliant, no request was 'too much trouble'. As a musician myself I'm naturally quite critical of the standard of entertainers, musicians etc. on a cruise ship. The bands were of a good standard overall and the 'House Band' that backed most of the guest acts were brilliant. BUT as on most ships, the sound in the theatre was quite poor to my ears. It lacked punch and the bass player might as well have not been there as there was SO little bass content in the mix. Come on cruise lines, stop employing sound engineers with a 'theatre' background and get some rock 'n' roll guys in, your audience is changing! We didn't really see much of the other music acts on board so can't really comment. The guest artistes were all really good apart from a so called Elton John tribute who was dreadful! I've seen much better in the local clubs in the UK. Being of a certain age we didn't get involved in any physical activities on board but really enjoyed the daily quizzes on sea days and the port lectures were very informative, if a little over cautious about going-it-alone in ports. Which brings me on to shore excursions. First port of call was Phuket. We made the choice to take a local tour mini bus from the dock side. What a fabulous decision! The vehicle was brand new and had been 'pimped' to a very high standard inside. A great driver who took us to the Big Buddha (breathtaking) and an area where there were a number of temples/mosques and market stalls, fabulous. He then dropped us at The Hard Rock Cafe later. Phuket, one of the highlights of the trip! Colombo was our next port. We took an excursion via the ship. A brilliant local guide took us to a couple of points of interest including the Independence Memorial Hall and the National museum. Not enough time was given to enjoy the museum! We finished the tour with tea on the veranda at the very upmarket Galle Face Hotel, which was an enjoyable experience. Overall, not a brilliant tour as much of it was spent in the bus in traffic. (to be expected in the this part of the World I guess) so wouldn't do it again. My advice, take a local trip off the dockside. Cochin was next, our first real taste of India and that's what we got! The taste of pollution was with us from the time we hit the dock. (not literally) :) Again we foolishly took a trip via the ship. We were first taken to a ramshackle Shiva temple which was closed! A very unpicturesque building, so little point in taking us there. We then drove to Church of St. Francis, Fort Kochi which in its own way was quite beautiful but drab and fairly uninteresting. Some of the folks then walked to see some Chinese fishing nets which were quite a distance, we didn't bother as we'd seen them previously whilst driving. Which is really what the body of the trip consisted of, driving through traffic, it was hideous! We were so pleased to see the ship again! Don't bother doing that excursion. Which brings me on to Goa, our next port. I'm a collector of Hard Rock Cafe/Hotel pins (badges) so we always endeavour to make it to any HRC in the ports visited. In this case it was a HR Hotel in the Saligao district of Goa. As none of the trips offered on the ship went near to the hotel, we (foolishly) decided to take a private excursion offered by Celebrity Cruises at a cost of $800!!!! We gave them our desired points of interest including the Reis Magos fort, which was recommended to us, plus assorted temples etc. We were quite excited about this tour, a private vehicle, a guide plus wonderful points of interest, what could be better? Most of it basically! The bus was old and rickety, the guide arrived late and the fort was closed! What angered us was, there were bus loads of Constellation guests already in the fort when we arrived (although the fort WAS officially closed on that day) but we were NOT allowed in despite our tour being booked on the ship! We were granted a 10% discount off a future tour and a small refund by the tour desk but this really didn't make up for the pretty poor experience sadly. But at least we had lunch at The Hard Rock Hotel and I bought pins and a tee shirt! We didn't know quite what to expect in Mumbai. Having watched various travelogue progs on TV we had preconceived ideas about India I guess. Our guide was fabulous! She was SO interesting and genuine. In keeping with other ports, the traffic and pollution was excessive, to be expected. We were taken to the Gateway to India (obligatory), the Victorian railway station and Ghandi's house plus a few other sights. Altogether an enjoyable day! We were overnight in Mumbai but didn't go ashore the second day. After a couple of days at sea we arrived in Muscat, Oman. The highlight of the cruise!! Pristine is the word that sums up the city. Not a scrap of rubbish or debris on the streets, beautifully kept road-sides, roundabouts and public places. Our guide on the ship-booked excursion was superb and a really lovely man with SO much knowledge about not only his country but the whole of the middle east in general. We were escorted to the most spectacular Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, about half an hours' drive from Muscat centre. You HAVE to see this if you visit Muscat! We then went to the Mutrah souq where one can buy anything from clothing to lamps. An absolutely wonderful and enriching day! Having looked forward to seeing Dubai (and getting to another Hard Rock Cafe) for a long time, it turned out to be quite disappointing! For a start it was cold and I made the big mistake of travelling in to the centre on the top deck of the bus! The bus we were actually taking the tour on was picked up at a terminus outside the Dubai Mall. Chaos reigned there with people trying to jump the queue to get out of the cold wind. After already losing an hour of our day we managed to get on the bus and begin the rather tedious tour of Dubai. SO many road works and building sites. The traffic was hideous (I believe I've used that word before). We didn't get off the bus until we arrived at the WAFI Mall where we needed to get a cab to the Hard Rock cafe which is in the Festival City Mall way out of the centre. The cabs are so well priced! Probably our fault but we didn't enjoy our day in Dubai much as we made little effort to see 'the sites' as such, plus it was very cold. Maybe return someday? Our final destination and point of departure was Abu Dhabi, a day later. As we were there overnight we thought we would be able to take a walk around parts of the city after being dropped off at the hotel. NAH! Once again Celebrity had decided to stick us in the Novotel Al Bustan out near the airport! Why Celebrity?? It was a super hotel though and we were able to get a cab to a nearby mall to eat and do a little last minute shopping, as you do. The downside was, we had to leave the hotel at 4am as we were flying from (you guessed it) Dubai, where we had been a day earlier!! No problems at the airport as we were there before the cleaners had finished their work having taken only an hour and a quarter to drive from Abu Dhabi. A lovely breakfast at Giraffe Cafe, Terminal 1 was very welcome. Such a shame the HRC Dubai Airport is in Terminal 3 so I couldn't get there. Hey Ho. Summing up (please do)! It was a wonderful cruise on the Celebrity Constellation and we enjoyed most of the experiences both on board and on land. We would highly recommend this cruise if you've not been to this wondrous part of the world. So much culture with some spectacular vistas to behold and remember for the rest of your days on the planet. My advice, for what it's worth, ignore most of the excursions offered on board (expensive and not good value generally) and go for a local mini bus and driver/guide found on the dockside in most ports. Ask to see the bus before committing as they vary widely in age and quality and HAGGLE! We (four people) got a full day tour in a brand new bus in Phuket for $150 US. Wonderful memories! Read Less

Prices for everything on the ship extortionate. Fitness facilities on the ship were very good and the Buffet selection on food was excellent The food and service in the Suite restaurant Luminae we're both terrible and certainly not worth the premium do you have to pay to be in a suite We took shore excursions run by the ship in five of the ports and again, they were very mediocre and not close to offering value for money. In one case for example, the excursion started at 1 pm and the first stop was a fish market which had just closed . Sunset on the dunes and sunrise at the camp were amazing. After breakfast we went to a camel shelter to pat and talk to the beautiful animals. This was a Celebrity shore excursion and the best we have ever done. Returning to the ship we felt like we were coming home, the crew were all so friendly. After a wonderful cruise to the Baltic on Silhouette we turned to Celebrity for Christmas and New Year and found the India and Emirates cruise, which we booked with great anticipation. What a disappointment, the ship, not the itinerary. Not enough storage space in cabin, cases would not fit under the bed, seal strips kept coming off the shower door, the balcony, deck nine had a massive overhang from deck ten which was the pool deck, so there was constant noise and running footsteps, even in the cabin we had youngsters running up and down the corridor, this is not something we expect in an Aqua Class cabin. There was no adult only area on the pool deck which meant we had constant loud music and shouting, the sunbeds were rammed so close together,(if an empty one could be found) one could have mistaken the deck for a Riviera beach. Celebrity advertise that they cater for low sugar, which l might add is a medical requirement, not a lifestyle choice, no evidence in the Oceanview restaurant of low sugar. infact the organisation in their was very poor on the whole. Afternoon tea consisted of Pizza or Pasta until the last day when miraculously sandwiches appeared and much to my husbands delight scones. We book Aqua class because we love the Blu restaurant, l was delighted to see a low sugar desert option which l ordered, what a mistake, there is certainly a lack of understanding with the chefs on what low sugar actually means, luckily for me our waiters and Maitre d were so concerned that the problem was soon corrected. I was asked for some examples and every night l was provided with a delicious desert. Special thanks to Avan for actually buying me some low sugar sweets when we were in India. The staff on board were always very helpful and polite, things are not always the fault of the actual staff. Sometimes l have mobility difficulty, l couldnt have wished for more help. Our excursions were a mixture, Mumbai was something we would not have missed, a unique experience. On the whole Christmas and New Year on the ship was disappointing, not the fault of the staff. Come on Celebrity stop resting on your laurels, we are looking at other cruise lines. Read Less

A long awaited visit to this region after the trials and tribulations of getting the e-visa for India , we were very excited about the cruise The embarkation was very efficient after a long tiring drive from Dubai airport. The cabin wasn't ready until later but we had the use of the other areas while waiting and had lunch in Ocean view restaurant which was adequate. The ship was not as opulent as others we have sailed on. This was first experience with Celebrity. We were very disappointed with the stateroom which was a 2a balcony on deck 7. The room was very dated old curtains poorly fitted. Valance on bed dirty , room dirty . The bathroom had hairs stuck on shower and floor was stained. The actual balcony looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly for weeks. This had to be re-cleaned by the stateroom attendant, after this it was satisfactory for rest of cruise. The bed was comfortable . Just no wow factor ! The San Marco dining room was good , waiters efficient and food very nice. At busy times had a little wait for a table. The sea days were calm, nice and relaxing. Three Chic evening's gave us the chance to dress up but not compulsory to wear a tuxedos. The Ships excursions just gave us a whistle stop tour but we got to see the places we planned. India was challenging but exciting. The people were so friendly, Mumbai busy lots of traffic as we expected. The last day arrived late afternoon in Abu Dhabi with a trip planned for 4pm to Grand Mosque which was not for the faint hearted, after immigration we proceeded for panoramic tour then onto the highlight of the Mosque. I would NOT recommend this trip as seems that Friday is definitely not the best time to go and don't think ship highlighted the challenges this trip held. It was absolutely manic , pushing crowds and frightening long wait least 1.5 hours in dreadful dangerous crowds before you even get through the Mosque security scanners. Once inside the crowds were in the thousands and detracting from the experience of visiting a beautiful place of worship. There must have had many complaints as the ship actually refunded the costs of the excursion. It was just a shame as it meant the last evening was extremely stressful and rushed with late arrival time to dinner , cases out for 10pm . This left us bit deflated after the very enjoyable last two weeks. Would I do it again YES! Read Less

The holiday was part of my wife's 80th birthday celebration. Having been several cruises with other companies we wanted to try out the Celebrity Cruise line. Also we had never before been through the Suez Canal. We spent a few days in Rome (a city we are familiar with) before the cruise and then a few days in Dubai (a new experience) at the end. Seen it now - wouldn't go back! The ship was very good (maybe a little bit tired) but the cabin was excellent and the organisation and staff first class. We old folks took part in lots of on-board activities and particularly enjoyed the entertainment - especially the very informative lectures. The upstairs buffet was very good but unfortunately the main dinning room not so. Many people complained about the slow service and on occasions the piped music made conversation impossible. I've never had such a bad crepe suzette. Would we go again with Celebrity ? Well, maybe. While we can perhaps afford it, I'm never comfortable feeling I'm being "ripped off". The excursions were well over priced; $300 up front for gratuities plus 18% on all drinks (come on !!) and $530 for Wi Fi - even the ship's comedian thought it was a joke. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, we had a great holiday - thoroughly enjoyed it. However, our two immediately previous cruises on TUI Discovery and the Allure of the Seas were equally good, if not better value for money. Celebrity Cruises are good - but not as good as they think they are. Read Less

Pre-cruise: As twice before, we had reserved a room with a package at the Hotel San Giorgio in Civitavecchia. In addition to the room, the package included a shuttle service from Funcimo Airport, Rome and to the Hotel, a good three course dinner at their nice restaurant “Bistro 34”, breakfast next day, and after breakfast – shuttle to the port. Embarkation: Went very smoothly. We have earlier sailed on several cruises in the Mediterranean, but never late fall. Therefore, we were a little anxious about the weather conditions at this time of the year. But more about the weather later in this review. The Ship: It is a few years since we last were on a Celebrity cruise, and then only on S-Class ships. This was the first time we were aboard an M-Class ship. But it turned out that we had nothing “to be worried about”! We found the Constellation to be a nice ship, and we think the ship seems mostly well maintained. Moreover, we really enjoyed the indoor Thalassotherapy Pool. Stateroom info: We had booked a Deluxe Veranda Stateroom on deck seven. It was comfortable. Two special comments: Some of the joins in the tiles on the bathroom were not clean, and some part of the balcony floor was not nice. We were very satisfied with our stateroom attendant. Dining: In connection with our embarkation, we were surprised to be informed that we had not been assigned to a set dining time in the MDR on deck five. We were on the wait list. But after talking to the maître, fortunately it was sorted out after a short while. We were pleased with the quality of the food we selected, and we had always excellent and pleasant service on our table no. 462, from our waiter Mayuresh and ass. waiter Praful, both from India, and from our sommelier, Lorenz from the Philippines. We really looked forward to every dinner with pleasure. We had all our breakfasts at the Oceanview Café, and also lunches, if we got back on time, after being ashore. During “peak hours” it could be a bit difficult to find an unoccupied table. When the weather was nice, we really liked to eat in the outside part of the Oceanview. We were pleased with the food selection. The employees did a good job of clearing tables etc., and the bars service was very good. We found the burgers at the Poolside Grill to be good. The Café al Bacio impressed us with its wide menu of coffee and teas, and with an excellent waiter service. Bars: We were very pleased with the service in all bars, and we think it was extra impressive with a view to the fact that the majority of the passengers also had a Beverage Package. Our favorite hang-out bar/lounge, was the Rendez-Vous, where we always received a friendly bar service, right after we were seated. Entertainment: With the exception of a male group, who performed Four Seasons Songs in the Theater, what we think in an excellent way, we were not particularly impressed. Unfortunately, we think most of the live music in the Rendez-Vous, was too noisy. The Captain’s Club Society: We are Elite Members, but we never attended the Elite Cocktail Hour, so I can't give any comment on that event. The Voyage: This cruise should have visited 8 ports of call - Gibraltar and 7 ports in Italy and France - in addition 2 sea days. But it happened unfortunately not quite as planned. During the first 8 days of the cruise, we had great weather. But especially the last 2 days, we were strucked by really bad weather with high winds and rough seas. And Constellation had to alter 2 ports. Instead of sailing to Portofino and Livorno, we had to sail to La Spezia as a replacement port. We were docked in La Spezia for 2 days, and on the second day it became really dramatic. The ship’s moorings broke, caused by the bad weather with heavy winds, and Constellation hit the cruise ship Costa Magica, which was docked behind us. Fortunately no one was hurt! The incident with Costa Magica happened in the afternoon, but no information was given until in the evening. Later, it was informed that those passengers, who wanted a free coach ride to the Funcimo Airport in Rome later in the evening / night, could register with Guest Relations on deck 3. Along with several hundred other passengers, we stood in line to be registered. We were told, that further information about the coach departures, would be announced later in the evening/night. My wife and I travel a lot, both on cruises and other ways of traveling. We have both experienced and know that unforeseen thinks can occur during a trip. In such cases, we also know that you unfortunately not always can thrust the information given by crew and employees, is correct. Their first priority will often be to try to “calm down the situation”. Personally, we therefore always in the best possible way, “closely try to follow up”, if unfortunate incidents should occur when we are travelling. After a couple of hours, we responded to the lack of information about the bus departures. We therefore took our baggage from our stateroom and found a place to sit down together with many other passengers near Guest Relations on deck 3. After a while we realized that the registration with the Guest Relations earlier in the evening, did not meant anything. You had to queue up. “First come, first served”. We understood later that we probably were some of the last ones who got a coach ride to the Airport. Our coach left the port around 3.00 am, and the ride took about 6 hours. Due to lack of space for suitcases on our coach, the coach was not full. So we had a relatively ok ride on mostly highways to the airport, and we arrived well in advance to our previously booked flight. I understand that it probably would not have been possible for Celebrity in the evening and night to get enough coaches to carry many hundred passengers on a 6 hour coach ride. But I feel really sorry for those of my fellow passengers who waited in vain in their staterooms for many hours for announcements for coach departures, announcements that never came. And therefore did not get the chance to catch a coach to the Funcimo Airport in Rome, and again maybe lost their flights. Overall – with the exception of the last 2 days of the cruise, we are very pleased with this our first cruise with Constellation. A nice ship, with an excellent and friendly crew. Read Less

We chose this cruise (10 night Adriatic) because of the itinerary, Venice, Koper, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Valletta, Catania and Rome. This was our first cruise with Celebrity, though not new to cruising, having sailed with several cruise lines previously. From start to finish our overall impression was understated excellence, professionalism and service. The Constellation is clearly an old ship, does not have the glitz like other ships but for us this was not an issue, quite the contrary. There was plenty of quality seating, even on the 'sea day' Use of the vast Thalassotherapy pool open to all guests without further cost and despite every cabin being taken there was no feeling of being the vessel being cramped. During the cruise the Master was notified that the Constellation could not berth at Catania, so overnight arrangements were made to tender in Siracusa. Free transport was laid on for those wishing to go to Catania. Having heard the comments from those who visited both it seems that consideration should be given to making Siracusa as the destiny, not Catania. A couple of issues, we chose to arrange flights and hotel stay ourselves, this saved £500 on the Celebrity quote. Celebrity charged $15 per overs on for port to town drop off, all the other cruise lines did this without cost, though charged for other things like premier seating. We found the cost of shore excursions exhorbitive and as such made our own arrangements. Tender to shore arrangements were poor, in Kotor the tender took 30 minutes. Despite somewhat lengthy queues waiting for tenders and preferential tendering for 'preferred guests', no seating was provided for disabled guests. As someone that uses walking aids I found the need for lengthy standing very hard. This was the only blot on what would have been a perfect cruise experience and needs addressing. In short, whilst we still book cruises for the itinerary, if we have the opportunity to sail with Celebrity again we would go without hesitation. Read Less

My wife and I made this cruise to get rest, and this is what we got but we have some comments about the trip The crew and the overall situation was wat we expected for a 4 star cruise but the dining situation was not something for a 4 star cruise ship it look more a standard meal on a ferry for truckdrivers than for people who made a cruise for a lot of money. several times we ask wat is there on ore plate can you give me a magnifying glass almost no vis to get alone mead and a very little complements but overcook and toastless. This is for the ala carte restaurant and the buffet I have eat for 6 days steak so that I have the feeling that there was something in my stomach. A other point of cretic is that every time we want of the ship in a port we need to pay extra for this bus ore the tender something We want to know before we made the trip. This don’t mean that we don’t enjoy or trip in the Mediterranean zee We enjoy the ship, crew and the company of the rest of the passengers. All to all We missed the cherry on the cake and this for a 4 star cruise. Read Less

Need to start this review by saying we had a great holiday, we travelled with friends, the literary was great and the weather fantastic. In our opinion there are lots of positives and we can only speak about our own experiences. We travelled using the Jet Sail offer - this we found to be excellent - we rocked up at Stansted parked the car and within no time we were sitting in a very comfortable lounge drinking wine, coffee, tea or juice along with nibbles. Breakfast on the flight was really nice and in no time at all we were landing at an old airbase. Coach was waiting, off to the ship and next thing we knew we were on the ship enjoying our first G & T. The return journey is slightly different - no private lounge and we were delayed by two hours due to the weather. Still a good flight home and from landing to driving off from the airport it took no more than 20 minutes!!!!! We booked Aqa class as we always do - this ensures we get to eat in the Blu restaurant which we particularly enjoy. I have to say the food, service and attention to detail was absolutely fantastic and made our breakfast and particularly our evening dining experience one of the highlights of our holiday. The sommelier was brilliant and we never once had an empty glass. Our cabin was clean and well kept by our attendant who made sure we had everything we needed. Overall we thought the ship was kept very clean although some times the public toilets might have been better. The Officers on the ship including the Captain were almost invisible - on all our other Celebrity cruises the Captain, his cruise director and other top officers have always been very engaging. Never once saw the Captain, would no know who the cruise director was and never once was asked by any senior member of staff about our holiday. The entertainment on the ship was frankly very poor. There was a duo Izzy & Mo who were excellent but apart from them it was awful. We did the Silent Disco one night an that was brilliant and we looked forward to going again when they repeated the evening on deck but the music was awful, very few people dancing and gradually everyone left which was very disappointing. We found all the staff to be very helpful and everyone was working hard to ensure we had a good holiday. The bar staff were very busy at times so just be patient and all is good in the end. The days at sea were again busy and finding a lounger with a bit of room is almost impossible. We do not like being cramped around the pool so we are happy to sit on our balcony and read etc - but that was a problem. We were on this ship two years ago and I am sure this is a new thing that has been introduced - on the top deck is now an outside cinema that shows fits five times a day - no problem with that except if your stateroom (like ours was) is at the back of the ship then the noise from the film is a big issue. We, and others complained and to be fair they did turn down the volume but it was still loud and was not good. Why can they not simply give headphones to the people who want to watch the film? The ports were great and we enjoyed each and every one of them, we always sort our own trips so unable to comment on the Celebrity excursions but lots of people said to us they found them very expensive. We really like the Celebrity brand, you know you will get a good holiday, we feel tat although they are not cheap you do get good value for money. But we would not sail on the Constellation again . . . as many other posters have mentioned the ship is now showing its age and Celebrity need to sort this out sooner than later. For instance on the Eclipse you can sit in some of the bars and enjoy music and watch people dancing on the auditorium - this cannot happen on this ship and the rooms where music and dancing take place have no atmosphere and are dark and dingy. We were considering a cruise to Asia later this year on this ship but have decided to put that on hold as 14 days with several sea days on the ship is unfortunately not for us. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we liked the itinerary. Unfortunately, we didn't get to board the ship in Venice as our flight from Belfast was over 8 hours late! We flew, instead to Dubrovnik which would have been our first port of call, and boarded the ship the following day. We were on a classic drinks package, but could not believe we were charged over $12 for 2 medium bottles of water in our cabin (apparently not included in package???) We were disappointed with a few things on the ship. Firstly, the staff in general were not very friendly, especially in the Oceanview Bar at the rear of the ship, the service was very slow, it seemed there wasn't enough staff on and they didn't seem to care! The exception to this was our cabin steward, he was very friendly and greeted us by name every time he saw us. We could not fault the main dining area The San Marco Restaurant, the food and service were excellent. Entertainment in the theatre was average to say the least. We went to a few shows but were not that impressed. We had pre-booked a couple of excursions, Santorini, and Amalfi Drive & Pompeii. Santorini was very good, the only comment I would make is that we didn't get enough time in Oia. The Amalfi drive was spectacular and the lunch was just ok. Pompeii was very interesting but again it was quite rushed. Disembarkation was very good and well organised. Overall we were expecting a 5* experience, I would give it no more than 4*. Read Less

We went on this cruise which sailed on 28th May which was the first sailing in the year. An earlier cruise before ithe weather got too hot would have been much better - every day the temperature hovered around 27 - 29 degrees. The heat was scorching and combined with the dry shadeless places the ship docked, we found ourselves often staying back on the ship. It looks like the cruise business has not caught on to the reality of global warming - cruises need to be scheduled to sail earlier in the year before the heat gets too intense, and need to have later autumn sailings for people who are not keen to get roasted in the sun for 10 days! Despite passengers having to do lots of pre cruise homework checking-in online and fixing their printed luggage tags which had to be downloaded online, embarkation was a nightmare with piles of people standing in line to ..... do the `real 'check-in?? Obviously there were just not enough counters despite getting passengers to check in at different time slots. However, disembarkation was a breeze. There is no wifi unless passengers buy the ship's expensive wifi package. Hello ... this is 2018...not 1918 !!!!!! Apart from the expensive wifi package, passengers have to pay for drinking water. The water from the cabin tap is a cocktail of clorine and chemicals and is undrinkable. No complimentary bottle of drinking water in the cabin; this is no fine hotel room!! The Oceanview Cafe had the most options in tems of food and dining times, but the staff manning the Cafe need training in handling passengers with more courtesy. Often we felt the service we got at a food counter was similar to that of a fast food outlet. The level of professionalism at the San Marco Restaurant, which was supposed to be more formal, was below what we observed on other cruises.. Perhaps since the ship has done away with the more formal dining the staff feel relaxed enough to cluster together to chit chat when they should be attentive to diners. The ship is well-maintained and the itinerary was good. Koper was beautiful, unspoilt and not mobbed with tourists like Dubrovnik or Naples. Read Less

Also with our anytime dining at 6:45, we could not participate at the Captains get together for Elite members which was at 7:45 to 8:30. The regular Captains Club get together was fro 5 - 6...dont understand why the Elite get together was also held at 5 - 6. I recall the on other Celebrity cruises each Elite get together was held twice each night one for early dinng and one for late...cost cutting? On a positive side the cabin and dining and wine service were EXCELLENT. The waiter and wine steward could not do enough for you. With one exception we opted for non-ship private excursions since we had a group of seven...no bus and less cost. Worked out very well. The ships tour to Mt Etna had an excellent guide. Also in 2 stops if you dint have a tour it cost $12 to get into town and back...penny pinching !!! Read Less

We flew to Venice night before with Ryanair from East Midlands and was straight on avtco bus from treviso to piazzalle roma bus station. Our hotel olympia was 4 mins walk from bus station situated on lovely quiet canal. We arrived to peaceful and beautiful hotel and sat having drink by canal enjoying lovely venetian cocktails night before cruise. next morning after lovely breakfast with complimentary prosecco we walked back to bus station where peoplemover is situated. 1.50 euro to port took only 5 mins on people mover. great idea takes all stress out of journey. We arrived early about 11.45am and was on ship by 12.15 very quick efficient boarding. We found buffet was best on any of celebrity ships we have been on. It was varied delicious and generally hot. In fact we ate more in buffet than main restaurant as food was so good. we enjoyed San Marco. We preferred to choose large table as one problem was tables for 2 were ridiculously situated. you were closer to stranger than to your partner. This could be sorted out easily by changing angles of tables. wasn't too much of a problem but on night you wanted romantic meal for 2 you would have to eat elsewhere. food and service excellent. We had classic drinks package and was able to sample everything. really enjoyed the choices. The ship is older and initially we were a bit disappointed after sailing on reflection and eclipse. However the charm and friendliness of staff on ship overcame this. We would definitely travel on this ship again. the staff were simply amazing nothing too much trouble. Our cabin was 6031 balcony. very nice room slightly smaller than previous but balcony was huge double size sweet sixteen. During sea days we did not find problem with sunbeds seemed to be plenty. staff policed this very well and immediately removed towels after 30 mins if vacant. The shows were not good. They were very amateurish. We gave up going but as not too bothered as preferred casino or just listening to celebrity bands who were better than Star acts. The entertainment verged on butlins by pool. It was aimed at very young when age group is much older. maybe would suit summer holiday cruises. The cruise director was more interested in talking to her peers than chatting to paying customers. However this did not spoil our overall cruise experience but could for others. The itinerary was amazing. well recommended Venice walked around ourself. amazing. Zadar very pretty did ourselves. just walked around. kotor tendered in. lovely pretty little place. dubrovnik. stayed overnight. plenty to see and do. naples. took ferry next door to ship to capri 20 dollars 50 mins ride. climbed up instead of using funicular was hard work but views amazing. sicily. took celebrity excursion as time tight to taormina. wonderful views. Very professional and responsive waiters. Dadang and Milan ensured our dining experience was second to none. Our cabin attendant was more like a butter, always there responding to any request. Our last dinner however was spoiled by a person not previously encountered who did not allow me entry to the dining room because I was wearing long shorts due to the dress code. Me explanation that I had packed and had my suitcase taken away as requested by 6 before realising that I had packed my dress trousers fell on deaf ears . This marred the entire experience. The entertainment was excellent accept for the choreography of Rock City which was a surprising let down as we had seen and liked it before on a previous cruise. Read Less

Michael's Club is only available to top level Captains Club and those in the top level Suites eg Royal Suite. It is not available to Concierge Class suite passengers. We have dined in the Tuscan Grille which is excellent, quiet and relaxed. We tried Qsine but found it too quirky for our taste and the noise level so high we couldnt hear the waiter telling us about the meal. Our wine waiters have been excellent in recommending wines of our liking - we purchased the beverage package. It was offered several weeks before the cruise at a discount, as was the dining package. San Marco is very good, we choose a set dining time but you can book any time dining as well. The Ocean buffet is for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a wide variety of choices. I am gluten free and was able to be accommodated at all the restuarants. The crew are very helpful and friendly. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and the fact that we are generally very happy with Celebrity cruises. The itinerary had its plusses and minuses. Oman, Thailand and Singapore are delightful places, whilst India is the real pits - a filthy place. Food on board was really great for meat dishes on the evening meal, but fish is a little below par. Breakfast and lunch were good, though we have been spoilt a little more on the Eclipse with an even wider selection. The crew are motivated and always have a smile. Embarkation went really smoothly. Disembarkation took a little longer than expected. Anything that needs urgent improvement? Yes, make internet packages more customer friendly e.g. a 'minutes' package for 120 minutes, so that passengers can simply check their emails and social media packages daily without having to spend close to $300. We chose this cruise for the unusual itinerary from Abu Dhabi to Singapore via India and Sri Lanka. We had some reservations about using Celebrity Constellation due to previous negative reviews which described the ship as showing signs of age and being 'tired'. These fears were unfounded as the cabin, public areas and restaurants had obviously all been renovated and were in fine condition. We chose 'anytime' dining in the main restaurant and this worked well on most evenings with just 2 occasions when we had to wait for a table (with pager) and just one occasion when service was very slow. The quality of the food was excellent with a good variety of menus throughout the cruise. We just ate once in the Italian restaurant and this too was excellent though the supplement charged was rather expensive Entertainment in the main theatre was average cruise fare . The young singers and dancers were very talented but some of the material used was strange. One particular production show was like a mock pantomime and pretty atrocious. The other solo artistes were generally good except for one impressionist who was poor (several people left during the performance). The best act was Bayne Bacon (comedian/pianist) who was exceptional. He also took part in 'The Wedding Game' game show but there was not enough of this type of entertainment. Read Less
