I chose this cruise because of the ports of call. We we totally pleased with the ship and the service. The cabin was larger than other cruises I've been on. The ship was beautiful and just the right size. We totally enjoyed having breakfast in the Oceanside Cafe every morning and I absolutely loved having my own "coffee guy". Oceanview was also open for a late lunch when we returned to the ship. The food in the Main Dining room was excellent and we were encouraged to order more than one appetizer and entree for dinner. We did the select dining, which gave us the flexibility to have dinner whenever we wanted to. We especially enjoyed the cold towels waiting for us when we returned to the ship every day. Overall, service was excellent. As far as the ports of call... Croatia was beautiful. We stopped in Zadar, Dubrovnik and Split. In Zadar we saw the Sea Organ and went to the Archological Museum. We walked the wall in Dubrovnik and this was one of the most beautiful ports. In Split we took a car to Krka National Park, which was beautiful. Slovenia was beautiful (we went to Ljubjana and Lake Bled) and Koter Montenegro which was AMAZING!! Breathtaking!! Highly recommended. The pool was not too crowded and we enjoyed relaxing the Solarium pool. Had fun playing ping pong and bingo on board. Lots of activities at any time of the day. Nighly shows were wonderful...magic, juggler, singers, violinist, etc. Wide variety for everyone. Highly recommended. Read Less

We were able to get a good price for a concierge cabin. Some of the staff were excellent, others only average. This ship is showing it's age with dated carpets, etc. & there is rust showing up in many places, but the crew keep it clean & are generally obliging. I didn't like the piecemeal layout of the Oceanview restaurant, took quite a while to locate the various sections. The cabin & it's furnishings were comfortable, particularly the bed & pillows. Meals generally very good, steaks done just as requested. This particular cruise's destinations are sometimes hours from the ports, hence a lot of time is spent travelling. I amused myself for over an hour at one port watching the crews trying to recover the last two tenders in rough seas. It took ages for the captain to decide to turn the ship to give them a lee side. Theater cast were brilliant. Read Less

Had never sailed with Celebrity before. Onlinevacationcenter.com had a very attractive price to SE Asia, so we chose this cruise We have sailed to this destination before on a different cruise line, but were pleasantly surprised by Celebrity. The entertainment was the best we have ever experienced, and the dining quality was the best, also. Embarkation and disembarking were very well organized and smooth. Ships employees were very friendly and helpful, always greeting you with a smile and a squirt of Purell. The buffet was large with numerous choices, all of which were tasty. The nightlife for late night dancing or having a drink was very active with a lot of people on the dance floor. The band was very good, and played a large variety of music. We stayed in a Singapore hotel for two nights before our cruise started, and one night when we returned to Singapore. Will definitely give Celebrity the first consideration on furure cruises. We wanted to see Vietnam as we had not been there and felt it would be an easy way to get there. Although Constellation is smaller than most ships we have been on we like it and we thought our cabin was first class, it was a good size and very light with lots of storage space. Would have preferred a shower screen to curtain but bathroom was ok. The entertainment was very good, more speakers on the ports visited would have been nice. Some of the ports were a 2 to 3 hours journey from the city, the shore excursions were very expensive and there was no information available for independent travellers. The drink prices were exorbitant and drink packages could not be bought for one occupant of a cabin so a non drinker would have pay for something they could not use fully. The food was generally good but portions on mains were sometimes miniscule and the deserts were very limited in variety. The staff were all polite and friendly and helpful. The embarkation and disembarkation were well organised and the drink on arrival was a nice touch.. We enjoyed the cruise and would holiday on Constellation again if it was going to an area we wanted to visit. Read Less

We chose the Constellation over the Millennium primarily because it garnered better reviews and had Ocean Liners intact. Both sailed out of Singapore, which would have saved us air tickets and time travelling to port. We were initially slightly apprehensive about sailing our longest ever voyage on one of the oldest and smallest ships we have done. These fears were unfounded. The crew was excellent and their enthusiasm, sincerity and professionalism stood out. Our cabin (a Penthouse) was huge, with more than enough room and we were truly pampered onboard. Our cabin steward and butler were both very helpful and full of initiative, meeting our needs even before we realised we had them! Entertainment was of a consistently high standard, with the exception of the Broadway revue, which needed more rehearsal time. Food was hit and miss but the service standards of the crew in Luminae could not be faulted. Our experiences in Ocean Liners (thrice) and Tuscan Grille (once, at lunch on a sea day) were both very good. OL food was hit and miss but service was excellent; Tuscan had both very good food and service and we regretted not booking for dinner. Specialty dining was complimentary for our suite but we were travelling in a big group and therefore could not utilise the perk as often as we would have liked. Sushi on 5 had great rolls but sashimi was mediocre. Service by Zeus was outstanding as usual. We did not expect our child to enjoy the Kids' club but she did. More so than on a typical RCL cruise, which was surprising. We also enjoyed the activities organised by the crew - the watercolour lessons, the dance lessons, the gym lessons, the trivia sessions and the table-tennis rounds. It was a cruise that was as active as you wanted to make of it. Everything was done in good taste without intruding into the relaxing vibe of the overall cruise. Would we go again? In a heartbeat. We would prefer if Celebrity had shorter cruises around the region though - it is very difficult to get leave from work in the beginning of the work year for such a long period of time. If they had 7-10 day cruises around the region, we would be back multiple times. As it is, we are next booked on a 10-day European cruise in June and a 10-day New Zealand cruise in December, both of which happen in periods of time where it is easier to get vacation time. Having sailed on Celebrity ships before, we were expecting the standard to be somewhat higher. Normally Celebrity pitch their niche market a notch above their sister company -RCL - but this ship was not. It was a little tired in some areas and the size of the bars and public areas were too small for the number of passengers on board. The cabin and public areas were bright and clean and the staff very approachable and friendly. The entertainment on board was excellent and the production shows were amazing , and some of the best we've seen at sea. Guest entertainment shows were also very good. The free "classic" drinks package - on offer with most deals -was a bit of a let down, with many drinks excluded , and martinis were simply in available to all classic package guests in the main ice martini bar. In the end , we upgraded to the premium package as we felt we were being treated as second class passengers in this regard. There was also a lot of hard selling of the drinks or upgraded drinks packages , and also the speciality restaurants . Upon boarding we were bombarded by staff making a heavy sales pitch! The buffet restaurant food was good altough somewhat repetitive on a daily basis. We missed however the service offered by Princess Cruises whereby staff came round offering to get your tea and coffee for you. We opted for " Select anytime dining" and this was our biggest complaint of all - you simply couldn't reserve in advance a table for two during peak hour -between 8- 8:30. CElebrity cannot compare to NCL in this regard. The tables for two in select dining were also on top of each other, and placed in lines , with no intimacy or privacy. In the end , we requested to change to set dining- late seating . To be fair, the Maitre Dee was very accommodating and eventually found us a lovely table This ship has now done away with " formal night " and replaced it with " elegant chic" While this appeared to be popular with passengers , I would have liked to have been advised of this in advance as I had brought 3 long formal gowns, and felt a little out of place- so ladies be aware of this. Tuxedos were also an exception rather than the norm! The embarkation and on/off boarding was well organised with no problems in this respect,- as was the tendering process. In summary, we enjoyed the cruise and made many good friends -probably because the venues were a bit smaller than our normal ships- allowing for this to happen.- so every cloud has a silver lining I suppose! We choose this cruise to see India. The ship is very tied and rusting , worn carpet , wooden seats in the dinning room with joints coming apart. The crew do try very hard and give u 110% in effort. The entertainment director is getting away with being payed for sitting on his backside all day. the onboard day time entertainment was non exsistant compared to other cruise lines. There was more entertainment to be found in the casino than over the whole of the boat. The nightly shows in the theatre where great if u where in a nursing home and had not seen any entertainment for a while, really who do they think they are giving us a acrobat show which a 11 year old could perform. Every night at dinner it was a toss of a coin to see if ur drink order would arrive in 30 minutes or under or would arrive at all. The cabin steward did a fantastic job and congratulations to him cabin 9131. The food was the same day in and day out, the quality of food okay but not outstanding. When u travel aqua class and have your own designated dinning room u don't expect to have to wait up to 3/4 hour for a table. The cruise would have been excellent if I had traveled in a inside room, but having table for aquas class I was very disappointed and will never cruise with celebrity again. No one even wants to listen on board when u are offering constructive criticism. Felt very let down and ripped off. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and also because we had cruised with Celebrity on several occasions and on the Constellation. On this occasion we found that the standard has gone down, the food in the main dining room was very ordinary and never hot The service was slow and when the gentleman sitting alongside of us could not attract the wine waiter, he had to get up and go and find him. When the gentleman complained, the wine waiter said he was tired! There was constant pressure to sell the beverage packages and the speciality restaurants. My husband ordered a beer at the pool bar but was refused service because he did not have a premium drinks package. This was reported to guest relations who were shocked, immediately sent for the assistant bar manager. He was very apologetic but my husband still did not get his beer. The pool grey towels were thin and well worn. All in all very disappointing and we will think long and hard before booking with Celebrity again. Read Less

Celebrity Constellation: This is my 10th time on RCI with Celebrity and with over 40 cruises under my belt this one takes the biscuit. When travelling on the now sold Century last year upon checking the mattress we found one of them to be badly stained with urine, so this time we checked again. This time both mattress’s were really badly stained with urine. When pointed out to the cabin steward he tried to say the stains were sweat. I called the deck supervisor who agreed with me it was urine stains and immediately removed them from the cabin. For both to be so badly stained and not newly so, I suggest everyone of you check your mattress before you sleep on any Celebrity ship, as for us this is not an isolated case as to have two in one cabin is simply bad management and supervision of these highly paid via tipping cabin stewards. Food on this cruise was extremely poor quality cuts used and grades of meat along with small quantity portions sizes. No fish available every day on our 14 night cruise, fish available twice on the menu apart from Salmon on the fixed nightly menu. Dessert selection down to 2 which change every night and 2 on the fixed menu. Poor selection overall, very low grade and simply not worth our US$575 per night cruise price paid to be served a meal which costs no more than $3 per head per meal…Celebrity have lost the plot and this abysmal downgrade of food style/quality and quantity is simply not acceptable to a cruise line which advertises itself as premium quality cruise line. The food shown in pictures on their advertisements is nowhere near what is actually being served. The Food and Beverage Director was dismissive of any complaints and actually rude in his demeanour saying all Celebrity ships now serve the same menus and quality of food. I will say, it seems even at $50 a head to upgrade to the celebrity speciality restaurants is a little over the top, considering you have already paid for the food in your expensive ticket price. Is Celebrity going bust or paying the CEO and shareholders so much money, there’s nothing left to feed the guests good quality food anymore. This was my worst cruise experience ever. Read Less

Celebrity Constellation 9 night Arabian cruise Embarkation was a breeze-just 10 mins. Then we were welcomed onboard with champagne on a red carpet. We felt we were treated like royalty!. Our oceanview room was quiet, comfy & spacious, but the bath cubicle was miniscule. On the first day, they had liquer sampling the entire evening, right from 5pm to 9pm. You could sample all liquers on display. Their special discount offers on alcohol were much better than those at duty free airports. They also had a wristwatch & handbag sale (really cheap, only $40 for 5, mix & match) Every morning, on the way to the buffet breakfast, there were pretty girls waiting to give you a FREE sampler head massage. Yes, every morning! On 9 days, we had 4 grand shows, a movie night, a Beatles tribute band, a singer (Jane), a violinist & a pianist, all best of class! So, every night was taken care of. The 4 shows--Welcome, Land of Fantasy (or fairy tales), Dances of the World & Elyria were 45-50 mins each & truly amazing, easily of Broadway standard. The performers also mingled, posed & danced with us throughout the 9 day cruise. They also performed on the pool deck & in the Reflections lounge, in addition to the 4 main shows. One evening, Celebrity even had a special BELLY DANCE show with Middle east delicacy starters & desserts--kababs, Baklava, the works! The passenger vs crew (in full uniform) pool volleyball game was a blast! Unfortunately, nobody showed up or seemed interested in the enrichment health & fitness lectures & we 2 were the only ones who attended every time. The fitness trainers who spoke on health & detoxification, were both experienced & knowledgeable. The buffet lunch had a lot of variety & was very satisfying. There were 6 diff. flavours of icecream & frozen yoghurt, which kept changing daily! Exotic flavors like cherry, pecan, peach, apricot, passion fruit, dark chocolate, banana, strawberry, etc In the main dining room, the dinner & service was fit for a king. Lobster, jumbo prawns, pink salmon, beef steak, tenderloin, et all. Very satisfying, never had any complaint whatsoever. The desserts were so-so. The cruise itinerary was well planned, with 8 port days--2 Abu Dhabi, 3 Dubai, 2 Muscat & 1 Khasab, so enough time for sightseeing at all ports, (except Dubai, which needs at least 7 days to see it all-- Dubai city tour with abra ride, Bastakiya, Al Fahidi fort, Gold souk, Spice souk, Perfume souk; Desert safari, Dubai mall with aquarium & musical fountain show, Burj Khalifa tallest observatory, Mall of the Emirates & Snow city, Global Village, Atlantis the palm, Jumeirah mosque & beach, Burj al Arab, Madinat Jumeirah, Miracle Gardens, Butterfly park, Dinosaur land, Glow City, etc.) Overall I highly recommend this cruise. We got an amazing deal, just $451 per person for 9 nights in an oceanview cabin with $150 onboard credit per person ($300 onboard credit per cabin) !!! Love & God bless, drsel Read Less

We had sailed with Celebrity previously (Australia & NZ) so when the opportunity to sail with them again to India, we jumped at the chance. Embarkation was very straight forward and we appreciated getting on board early so that we could have a "wander" as well as unpack before the emergency drill This meant that we could dress for dinner in a good timescale, which for those who are not regular cruisers,is not always the case. The overnight stop in Dubai wasn't of great interest to us as we have been there before however on the 2nd day, we made use of the shuttle bus to go into the city. This was ok as it took us to the Dubai Mall however the times issued by the ship seemed to have no resemblance to that used by the bus company. That seemed to be more "we'll leave when we want and come back when we want" leaving passengers hanging around both on the way in and the way back ! I am really glad that we have been to India however the New Mangalore stop wasn't the best and the tour that we took (through Celebrity) was expensive and not what we expected. Now this could simply be that we chose the wrong tour however we then did another one (again with Celebrity) in Mumbai. The guide was very poor. She was more interested in her schedule than letting us see what was supposed to be included ! I could go into a great deal more detail regarding the poor aspects of this tour however I won't bore you with what was not a particularly good experience. Suffice to say that Celebrity refunded part of the cost and we won't do any more tours with them should we decide to sail with them again. There are a number of reviews that already state the chaos of Indian immigration over the three days. I can appreciate that on the basis of this being the first time in the Indian ports, there was an element of uncertainty, however what I can't accept is the fact that immigration cards were issued to us for Mumbai, by Celebrity, that had't been stamped or signed. Utter chaos - and very poor administration and customer service by them. As other members have said, we were unable to dock in Oman (very disappointing) and went direct to Abu Dhabi and docked early. We were told that the gangways would NOT be open until dis-embarkation the following day. All very clear - until at 10.00 that night the public address system told us that everyone had to get off the ship to clear immigration ! 2,000 VERY unhappy passengers and not an Officer to be seen. Poor Celebrity - simply VERY poor ! Having said all that, our Sky Suite was comfortable (not big, but it is an older ship) and well looked after by our steward. We were able to eat in Luminae which was wonderful. The food was excellent and the the service could simply not have been better. The staff mixed the friendliness without ever forgetting what you needed etc. Will we sail with Celebrity again ? Maybe but I would certainly think twice about cruising with them on a maiden route. Wonderful cruise, excellent friendly staff, fantastic entertainment , great cruise director in Richard Spacey.. Good food. The staff all remembered your name wherever you went on the ship, always smiling and very very friendly. Entertainment was the best ever, acapella group called We3 were amazing. Jane curry female vocalist and comedian got standing ovation on both evenings. Ju.ian smith, saxophonist from britains got talent was fantastic. Husband loved the hypnotist, but not my thing. And one of the house bands joe and Olivia were just great, bought their cd too. Richard spacey , cruise director was friendly and very very funny. We didn't really enjoy he MDR as we were always sitting in the traffic lanes and felt uncomfortable, nothing to do with quality of food though. We enjoyed the ocean view cafe though, always a good selection and always hot and fresh. The ship is very clean and comfortable, but it does need a refurb soon, nothing to upset you, just the odd scuffs and scratches here and there. Done 22 cruises and this is definaetly in our top 3. Just back from our first Celebrity Cruise onboard the Constellation. We were travelling with our 6 year old son on 11 Night Eastern Mediterranean Cruise. Cannot fault the cruise at all. Everything was above and beyond our expectations. Food was all excellent. Dining room experience wonderful. Staff were all so friendly and remembered us all by name. Fun Factory was amazing our son went everyday even 3 times a day on sea days. Fun Factory staff amazing. They were only a total of 23 children onboard our cruise. The Fun Factory had only 2-8 children in total at each session, which was great for our son who prefers small groups I think that's why he enjoyed it so much alot of one on one attention. We travelled 8-20 September. However I heard that in August there was 250 and 500 children onboard for those cruises. As our cruise was when all UK/USA schools just started back so not many children were onboard so that worked out to our advantage. We are from Australia and currently our Spring school holidays. We had the classic beverage package which was wonderful it was a free perk when we booked so it great for us we didn't see the need to upgrade to the premium package. If anyone has any questions please let me know I would be happy to answer them. I kept all the Fun Factory Daily programs aswell as our Celebrity Dailes. Fantastic cruise. Read Less

This was our second cruise with Celebrity. Our group comprised my husband and I and our 21 year old son and 19 year old daughter. The itinerary was marvellous, we loved all the ports. "Connie" was great but not quite as good as Equinox. Felt a bit tired and dated and definitely more crowded somehow. A MUCH older crowd on board, again different to last year's cruise. I think this may have been down to the timing of the cruise. We upgraded to Aqua class for this cruise and I'm not sure if that was worth it. Eating in Blu was the main perk and Blu was brilliant, however the first 2 nights we waited an hour and almost an hour for a table. Upon complaining - this didn't happen again, we were seated promptly but all over the restaurant so we did not build up much of a rapport with waiters etc.. which was a pity. We mourned the loss of formal night. On one of the formal nights whilst eating in Blu my husband and son sat in dinner jackets and on the next table was a gentleman in jeans and polo shirt. Formal nights are now called something like "Casual Chic" euphemism for "anything goes". My advice is to treat all the nights in the same way as far as dress goes. We love the ship organised tour excursions for the quality of the tour guides, really excellent. However our fellow guests were another matter. There would be a great rush to get on the coach and we were always near the back of the coach which was absolutely fine except that others at the back ignored the commentary and talked (loudly) making it difficult to follow the commentary! One hoped to get nearer the front on the return journey to enjoy the return commentary however passengers reserved their seats. This exacerbated the crush to get on in the first instance. It was all a bit much really. These oldie cruise goers are quite something. The food and drink was incredible as last year. Getting a seat in the coffee shop was not always possible and getting a sun bed around the pool was tricky. Neither of these was an issue last year - We enjoyed it very much but not sure we will do this again. Read Less

We had sailed on Connies inaugural cruise and had the most fabulous time. There was no fault with the food, accommodations, shore excursions, nightlife....the decor was a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other lines. So, with such great memories we had no hesitations and booked a family cruise. Embarkation disorganized, port staff very unhelpful and rude. Despite my pleas that I was travelling with my elderly disabled mother, we were forced to line up with the rest of the passengers even though I am a "elite" traveller. No help upon arrival, much different from the inaugural cruise where a cruise member escorted us to our cabins, we were left to our own devices to locate our cabin! The quality of food has gone down hill when even compared to our previous cruise of 2013. The variety quality left much to be desired. Celebrity was known for the quality of their food, sadly this is no longer true. The cabin was dated, bathroom in need of an update, even though the brochure said that it was "refurbished " mold, peeling paint, balcony door locks sticking, poorly flushing toilets.... To add insult, there was garbage left in our cabin that the room attendants failed to notice and remove. I would question how actually "clean" is my cabin. I wiped down all surfaces with my Lysol wipes! If possible, book your own shore excursions. The one offered by celebrity is $$$$$$and not worth the $. I don't mind paying extra if the quality was there. The guide in Barcelona sat at the front of the bus and read out loud the script on his phone. I was seated at the front with my mother and witnessed it! He would stop at a sight, told us to come back to the bus after we "make pictures!" To make matters worse, on the return trip, he was walking so fast, he left my entire family stranded at the Sagrada familia!? The ship's staff said they would investigate and all she said was that we all returned safely to the ship! Oh, and they refunded us our cab fare only". This is surely not the "beyond our expectations?!". The entertainment catered to the UK crowded and far below previous experiences. It might have well been the crew members who put on the show! Amateurs! The dining room was crowded, and the noise level was deafening. It was difficult to carry on any dinner conversation! The table next to us was so loud, we asked for a table change, they were unable to accommodate because the dining room was full, yet they were able to accommodate the dining your way passengers. It would have to be a very good deal for this loyal cruiser to sail with celebrity anytime soon. Read Less

This cruise was a family cruise which included 3 generations of 12 people. We chose the Eastern Mediterranean on the celebrity Constellation as we had been to the western Mediterranean previously with the same group. We had a fantastic time on the ship and at all of the ports: Olympia, Santorini, Athens, Ephesus, Malta, and Messina. The ship is great for the Mediterranean. The pools were great, lots of "loungers" when you want to sun and the shows were great. While very clean, the ship needs some TLC. There are multiple places where small amounts of carpet are coming from the floors. I can only expect that Celebrity has plans to take care of this soon. We did all but our port visits on our own, except Ephesus. Given the number of people we were and the age gap, this worked for us. We had some mishaps which will be the stories of the trip, no doubt: pick pocketed in Athens and almost missed the ship in Messina due to missed busses. We also had an opportunity to see an incredible fireworks show through a cruise critics organizer. Beautiful opportunity. We enjoyed the shows very much, as always. Lots of fun and the cruise team did an excellent job varying the options. We chose select dining, but chose to eat consistently with Darko every night. Me was EXCELLENT. He paid attention to our needs and responded to everything we needed and wanted. We had celiac family and he was so careful and informative. DArko should be an up an coming member of this crew. Don't lose him Celebrity. He has a lot of potential. Great people skills. The food was great. I would love to know how they serve so many people so well nightly from a ship!!! Thanks Celebrity Constellation for a great vacation. Read Less

I chose this cruise for the price, date availability and itinerary. It was a long time since I cruised and was very excited I had the opportunity to take a Mediterranean cruise with my family. I was pleased with the overall cleanliness and ports visited. The food was good. The cabin room and crew was very good. Security was also very good. Every port going and coming back there was a full passenger screening. I loved the ice cold towels and cold drinks before entering the ship at each port. It was very hot and humid in Europe and alot of exploring left us overheated at times. The drink pkges, tours, and some other extras that use to be free wasn't free anymore. The main dining room meals and service was good. No more flamed Baked Alaska that would have been nice for my son to see. Still had lobster on the menu one night. I saw few smiling faces in the buffet and bar staff. They were constantly watch by their superior for cleanliness that they had no time to smile at the guests. Overall I would recommend this ship for the value and ports of call. Read Less

We chose this cruise for our group of 8 primarily for the itinerary. We have sailed with Celebrity a few other times and have had a good experience. We were reluctant to book on the Constellation based on other reviews, but all in all we had a very good experience. We had one concierge room (8092) and three inside state rooms. The Concierge room was in a great location near the elevators and close to the Concierge desk. Embarkation was relatively smooth. We kept a couple of carry-on's and once on board, changed clothes and headed for the pool. We were able to grab a snack at the buffet and have drinks by the pool before the crowds arrived. On our first night we opted to eat at the Tuscan Grill since they were offering dinner at a 20% discount on the first night. The food was good and the service (with Angel) was fantastic. Several people have complained about the need for updating and we found most of the comments to be relatively accurate. However our room was clean as were the public areas, so that didn't impact us. Many others complained about poor service. Most of the crew was friendly any time we saw them. We had an excellent room attendant (Frederick) and our head waiter (Willy) was top notch. The concierge on deck 8 was a huge help to us on several occasions. Catarina in the coffee bar was very attentive and the staff in general was very pleasant. We did notice that in the main dining room the lady (don't remember her name) who took cocktail drink orders wasn't pleasant. We had a classic beverage package that was a "free perk" when we booked. That package was fine but didn't include many of the drinks I wanted to try. We ended up upgrading the package to a premium one (an extra $10 a day) and found it to be well worth the extra money. Interestingly enough, once we upgraded our package we noticed she became much more friendly. The food in the main dining room was relatively good. We had experienced much better food on the Equinox and on our Princess cruises, but the food was still pretty good this time. The portions were smaller than previous times, but we found them to be more than enough for us. There seemed to be fewer choices this time on the menu, but Willy did a great job with his recommendations. For three of the ports (Rome, Amalfi Coast and Venice) we booked a private tour through Shore Trips. I highly recommend them. It isn't cheap (but neither is Celebrity) but for a group of 8, we were able to do so much more than we would have had we spent our money through Celebrity. We also used Viator for a tour in Venice. We did book two Celebrity excursions. Kotor, was a nice experience. We did the three hour kayaking trip in the bay. We tendered at this port and then walked to the kayaks once on shore. We had ample time to kayak with a break for swimming and a snack. It's a beautiful port and one of our favorite places. Our other Celebrity excursion was in Zadar Croatia. We had booked a canoe trip down the river. However it was a 2 person kayak. The description that Celebrity gave for this excursion was not what we experienced. This kayak trip included a large waterfall where we had to abandon our kayak for it to be hurled over the waterfall while we climbed up a slippery hill and climbed back down again. One lady slipped and sprained her ankle. On another occasion we had to have one person get out of the kayak and carry the igloo of dry goods with a paddle along another slipped cliff while the other person went down a waterfall. It wasn't safe for both to go down that waterfall. We were rushed throughout this excursion and had no time to take a break for water, swimming or even enjoying the scenery. I definitely would not book that excursion again. As soon as we returned to the ship two different couples went immediately to medical. We over heard that we were dropped off in a location that they don't normally use, but whether or not that is true, Celebrity should update the description of that excursion. Entertainment was pretty good on board. We enjoyed the live music with the string duo and the house band. We also enjoyed DJ Lenny for the dance parties. We played trivia every day that we were back on time. The theater performances were fair although the comic was rude. We didn't care for that show at all. The casino was the same as it is on most cruise ships. The shopping onboard was disappointing. I didn't feel they had many choices as far as items like hairspray, dental floss, etc. Disembarkation was smooth and all in all, it was a very good experience. We look forward to sailing on this ship after it has gone through a refurbishment. Read Less

Never having cruised before, I chose this cruise for the itinerary and the positive reviews of Celebrity that I had read. On the whole I enjoyed it but there were some negative points too. Below is a summary of our views: GOOD: -Staff on the whole worked very hard and were friendly and courteous. Our cabin attendant, Barbara was delightful and couldn't do enough for us. Alex (Concierge manager) was also helpful. Ice cream man in Oceanview was hilarious. -The ship was very clean and our cabin was spacious and well equipped. -Food generally good, varied and plentiful -Room service very good and also prompt-lovely having breakfast on balcony! -Evening shows were of a very high standard-with many performers having been on the West End stage -Shore excursions were very well organised and the tour guides we had were excellent-very pricey though! -General nice touches like cold water and towels on re-boarding the ship -Embarkation, Disembarkation and general admin on the ship was efficient -Galley tour impressive and informative NOT GOOD: -The continual hard, hard sell from the minute we got on: -upgrade to this, buy that, internet package, so prohibitively expensive etc. So many expensive extras if you're not careful. Celebrity: remember we are on holiday, we want to relax and be pampered-not hustled -If you wanted to explore ports independently the shore excursions staff were very unhelpful, bordering on obstructive and rude, inferring each time it would be costly. difficult. too expensive, too far etc. -Very poor daytime entertainment. Watching someone try to sell you something every single day is not entertainment-it is an insult -We were excited to see that on our "at sea" day there would be pool games. Except the entertainment team couldn't be bothered to recruit the teams and it was dropped-with no announcement. We waited half an hour before realising it simply wasn't happening! -Really disappointed with "evening chic". Many people didn't bother. One man wore a T shirt and shorts! I really feel Celebrity should uphold standards and dress codes. If people don't want to dress smartly, there are other more casual options for dining. For the sake of those who make an effort (as instructed), please Celebrity, try to uphold the standards to which you aspire -The duo "Sugar and Honey" were absolutely awful. They were so depressing and sucked the life out of any potential atmosphere, no matter where they sang. Everyone around us thought the same, and my sister, who is currently on the same ship, says everyone on her cruise shares this view-as do the staff!! Seriously, it got so bad that on our last day we felt driven away from the pool by their dreary, repetitive, thin, depressing songs and went back to our balcony instead. Celebrity-please wake up and get rid of these two. We didn't find a single passenger who enjoyed this act and most found them downbeat and soul destroying. -Pre cruise admin (UK) was terrible. The website is only geared towards US customers, some info is incorrect (eg luggage tags are no longer posted), e-docs were issued several weeks late and phone calls are at an extortionate, premium rate. So in summary, good in (most) parts. Far less hard sell and improved daytime activities would go a long way to improving this cruise. Read Less

The service was top Class from the Cleaning of the room to the Dining at dinner. Food was excellent and the whole cruise brilliant. Hygiene was given top priority which was great with Children. All of the crew are great hosts, very kind and helpful, but the biggest thank you will be to the captain who renewed our vows, this was a very special occasion. To the waiters in the restaurant, we had the same ones every night and we were very fortunate as they were very helpful and kind to the children. If we are ever fortunate enough to go on another cruise Celebrity Constellation will be top of the list even though this was our first cruise. Celebrity Constellation is a wonderful ship for a cruise even more so with Children. Highly recommended, thank you again to all those who made our cruise so amazing we will never forget the best 10 days we have ever had. Read Less

The cruise we went on went to many different ports. That is why we selected it. We have cruised with Celebrity in the past and they really know how to handle so many people. Getting off and on in all the ports was seamless. The food was great as was the staff. The only room for improvement was around the pool, they need more waiters Getting drinks sometimes took more than 20 minutes. And they need more individuals working at guest relations. The lines were always too long. The Assistant Cruise Director Tyler, was terrific! He was in our public meeting area during our disembarkation. It was the most fun I have ever had during a disembarkation. He entertained the crowed and kept us laughing! Definitely a future shinning star for Celebrity! Would definitely take a Celebrity cruise again. They really know how to do cruising! Can't wait for our next one! Read Less

We have cruised with Celebrity before on the Eclipse and the Silhouette and so had no hesitation in booking again this time on the Constellation. What a mistake! The staff to guest ratio is so low that the service was very poor. We had long waits at the bars and when a member of staff did arrive their attitude was very often surly and sometimes downright rude. The food was very bland and repetitive and the glasses, crockery and cutlery needed checking for cleanliness. The theatre shows and entertainment were distinctly amateur and not what we have come to expect from Celebrity. However, the worst thing was the shore excursions - overpriced and not at all what was described. All in all not a good experience and one we will never repeat. If you like the holiday camp feel at 5* prices this is the ship for you. Poor, poor, poor! Read Less

I recently cruised for the first time on the Celebrity Constellation, on the June 12, 2016 12-night Adriatic cruise out of Venice. I thought I would share the good and bad. I’ve cruised on Princess eight times and RCCL once, so I was looking for a bit of change from Princess. Our last Princess Western Caribbean trip out of Houston was a giant dud, since it rained on us the entire trip; we missed one port and really couldn’t get off on another. I was cruising with my 16-year-old daughter, and had read that Celebrity tended to have as many or more teens as Princess. That certainly wasn’t the case on this cruise, as there were only 15 teens in the 15-17 age group. There were simply very few younger people (or young adults) on our cruise, and one couple told us that a staff member told them it was the “oldest” cruise he could remember. We booked the trip because it was discounted, as all European cruises seem to be this summer. I originally booked an inside stateroom for a total cost of about $1,850 for the two of us. After a day I upgraded to Aqua Class, which cost $3,600 total, but also included the drink package and prepaid gratuities. Given that the value of the free amenities was worth about $1,200 and our travel agent gave us a $100 credit, we ended up paying about $450 more for a balcony and the right to eat at Blu. We weren’t interested in the spa, but I had heard good things about Blu. I’m going to list some things I didn’t like, but before I do, let me share the things we did like. And I will makes comparisons to Princess, since that is my point of reference. CONDITION OF SHIP: I have read a few reviews critical of the condition of the ship. I didn’t see it. I thought the ship was in great shape and well maintained. Overall the ship was very elegant, and I couldn’t have asked for more. SERVICE: I found the overall level of service to be much higher throughout the ship than what I’ve generally had on Princess. I found the employees to be friendly and outgoing, and with a few exceptions I found bar service to be quick. CASINO: The casino was not all that busy much of the time, and I don’t think I ever saw a blackjack game with more than a $5 limit, save perhaps on a single-deck game with a $10 limit. The two six-deck games were H17, das, rsa, 3-2 on natural. The single-deck game was a 6-5 game, so it is not playable. My memory has failed me, because I can’t remember whether the dealer dealt and checked a hole card; my recollection is that they did not. This can be important for doubling and such. These are not the greatest rules, but they are about as good or better than any low-limit game in Vegas these days, and I enjoyed not having to play with a csm. There was a plentitude of “penny” slots, as well as a small number of traditional reel machines. Oddly enough, the casino did not have “bartop” video poker machines, so I didn’t play any video poker. The VP payouts were terrible. I think JOB was set on a 6-5 payout, which gives the house a five percent edge against “perfect” play, and a 10-15 percent edge against average play. I was up about $1,400 for the trip but had two terrible nights and ended up the trip up about $200. Still had fun, and I give the casino a fairly high rating. “BLU” RESTAURANT: I paid the small upcharge for an Aqua Class room purely for the right to eat at Blu. We did not use the spa. Overall I would rate the Blu dining experience very highly. We really enjoyed the staff at Blu, including maitre d David. The staff remembered us, and after ordering a bottle of sparkling water on the first night they had a large bottle of San Pelligrino delivered to the table almost as soon as we were seated. I had to repeatedly ask for ice for it, though. Refills on wine were offered and provided painlessly, with any signing of a bill done at the end of the night. On Princess, ordering wine takes a lot longer and is more of a hassle, and even if one is on a drink package there is a big production of signing for drinks in triplicate. Refills are never provided without a big hassle on Princess. A couple of shortcomings of Blu were that a wine list was never provided when we sat down. I noticed a few people had wine delivered as soon as they sat down. Clearly they just had a standing order for a particular first glass of wine, and I strongly recommend this. Second, many of the hot dishes simply were not hot enough. The first night we ordered escargot it had been allowed to cool quite a bit; I later specified that we wanted it HOT. But there was a general lack of “hot”-ness to many of our entrees. And third, I found the desserts to be uninspired and unexciting, and I do mean REALLY uninspired and unexciting. I ordered a cheese plate one night and found it to be mediocre. I believe BLU can do better here, and they should have a proper cheese course available every night, appearing on the menu, with the names of the cheeses listed. The cheese should be cut by hand and not sliced with a machine, and having the cheeses NAMED is really important. We never tried the regular main dining room, but I suspect we might have been a bit disappointed in comparison to the service we received from Blu. Despite the above criticisms, we really enjoyed Blu and its staff. Overall the food was quite good. BUFFET: Overall I found the quality of the buffet to be fair to poor. I just didn’t care for the offerings most of the time, and it was not equal to the Princess buffet. It was just something to eat. My one big gripe against Princess and Celebrity is the lack of a proper cheese course. Well, they really did have proper cheeses being served from time to time at the buffet, hand cut, with nuts, honey, and all of that. I really couldn't believe it! But I want such cheese after a meal, so I never availed myself, but if they can offer that at the buffet, why can’t they offer it at Blu? They did have an ice cream station at the buffet, and it was for true, dipped ice cream, with eight or 10 flavors. The quality was good. Over on the Princess boards there are people who squeal like stuck hogs because lousy soft-serve ice cream isn’t served 24 hours a day. So I think it’s impressive to have real ice cream available for a good part of the day. I enjoyed getting a couple of scoops to go with my desserts at lunch. THE ALCOHOL PACKAGE: I had originally booked an inside stateroom, but realized that I could upgrade to a balcony for less than the cost of the alcohol package and the gratuities. So I did so. I really don’t know how to feel about the alcohol package. I love to drink as much as the next guy, but there is no question that the package pushes me to drink a bit more to get my money’s worth. Is this healthy? Personally I would rather see reasonable drink prices without the package, but of course that goes into how the cruises are being marketed. Also, the menus at Blu had wine pairings listed that weren’t available. Was this due to the alcohol package and everyone drinking like fish? ALSO: One odd complaint: Celebrity never makes announcements in the staterooms. This sounds great, but when they are doing a fire drill, they ring the fire alarm in the stateroom. They ought to go ahead and make the announcement 10 minutes before that it’s only a drill, as well as a few other announcements. No, I didn’t come running from the room, because I suspected it was only a drill, but still. ENTERTAINMENT AND NIGHT LIFE: I did not attend any of the ship’s shows. This was in part because I was with my daughter who did not want to attend, but another factor was that the “Celebrity Today” newsletter was inferior to the “Princess Patter,” which gives a little more information about various events. Princess has some venues like the Explorers Lounge that might feature a comedian or singer, and Celebrity seemed to have less of this. Many people rave about the Martini Bar, but I just didn’t love it, and I also didn’t care for the 11th floor Reflections Lounge. Sometimes portions of it were reserved for other groups when I visited, and I just felt uncomfortable, and it just wasn’t a great place for me. For some reason, it was very important to close the pools and hot tubs as early as possibly, lest someone actually enjoy themselves. I think all pools and hot tubs were shut down by 9:30 every night. How weird! And the top deck bars tended to be dead and closed early. On Princess the pools stayed open much later, as did the bars. On Princess the top deck is always very active, and the top deck bar is always a great place to get a beer a strike up a conversation. Not so on Celebrity. I did not understand this, and it really detracted from the cruise. PORTS OF CALL: I never take ship’s tours, and usually just debark and look around. This was especially important when traveling with my daughter, who is not a very motivated traveler. I don’t plan to give much of a review at all, but our ports of call were: KOPER, SLOVENIA: Liked it, great placed to walk around ZADAR, CROATIA: Liked it, great placed to walk around SPLIT, CROATIA: We did not care for Split, althouth it was interesting to see the magnitude of Diocletian’s palace. DUBROVNIK, CROATIA: The walled city is amazing. Want to go back for a week. KOTOR, MONTENEGRO: Another great place to visit. Would be a wonderful place to spend a week. NAPLES, ITALY: We visited on a Sunday, and Naples was an absolute bust for us. We’ve been several times before. It’s a terrible city, worse on Sunday. CATANIA,SICILY,ITALY: My daughter did not get off the ship. I enjoyed my walk around, but nothing special here, really. BOLOGNA (RAVENNA), ITALY: We really enjoyed visiting the various churches with the mosiacs. I wish we had perhaps done a little more homework. CONCLUSION: Although we had a reasonably good time, this cruise really didn’t work for us. The unusual ports of call attracted an exceptionally older crowd. I had thought about taking an NCL cruise with a few of these port calls and could have done so for substantially less money. I wish I had. If my wife had been with me I think my views might be different. From my experience, I would say a Celebrity Europe cruise is not suitable for teens or single adults. Your milage may vary. My brother loves Celebrity, but of course he always cruises with his wife and not one of his children, and I suspect that makes a difference. I’m not sure I’ll cruise on Celebrity again, but the staff and service was outstanding. Read Less

We sailed on Celebrity Constellation's Eastern Mediterranean cruise from Venice. The airport is poor and under construction. Getting to the coach was difficult. Once in the cruise terminal building our embarkation was very smooth - but we were concierge class. The cabin was well appointed and our steward's were great. We found the facilities on the ship were very good. It's much smaller than Reflection, but we found that all the staff were very helpful and we loved the Sunset bar. We were part of a party of 8 and we all had a great time. The entertainment staff and musicians with only one exception were fantastic. The restaurants were good and as I got food poisoning in Montenegro, I found out that the on board medical staff were excellent. Our travel arrangements were ruined by the French industrial action but Celebrity got us there and back again. Having said that, if we ever see the inside of Marco Polo airport again, it will be too soon. The itinerary for this cruise is particularly good. Split was the highlight and should not be missed, but Slovenia is a gem and the Postonya caves were beautiful. The scenery in Montenegro is astonishing, but the roads are not for the faint hearted. We would recommend this cruise to anyone. Read Less
