This cruise was on a great promotional offer just over a year ago and the itinerary looked really interesting so we booked. The ship is dated and desperate for a refit which is happening soon we are told - it's really needed. The layout of the Oceanview Cafe is pretty awful but dictated by the ship structure; having to do a large lap of the track to see what's on offer is a bit of a pain - hopefully the refit will improve this. The ship lacks a bit of atmosphere at times, the piped music is mainly aimed at the elderly audience and could do with being more lively. How about playing some Bollywood when at the Indian ports during breakfast? The places we visited (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Cochin, New Mangalore, Goa and Mumbai) were all excellent and interesting. Celebrity are relentless in their pursuit of additional sales and crossed the line in my opinion; during the cruise they presented information about ports of call. Part of these made strong suggestions that India was somewhat unsafe and that robbery or being conned was likely; speakers told 'personal stories' of 'anecdotal' accounts in an attempt to scaremonger passengers into booking with Celebrity excursions. For this reason we did not book with Celebrity excursions at all. We used private local tour operators, online booking with great communication and the quality was excellent. They charge less than Celebrity and you see much more with a personal level of service, I really recommend this to enhance your visits to India. We used Magic Tours and Dream Tours Mumbai, both met us at the ship or port gate - really easy, car with driver and an English speaking tour guide. Costs varied from $50 to $115 per person for a group of three depending on what was included; all were private and exclusive to to our group and included private chef cooking on a houseboat trip to a really in depth and intimate tour of Mumbai (Dream Tours Mumbai - check TripAdvisor for review). Entertainment was hit and miss but there is a lot of live music which is excellent and needs to be maintained please. There were 4 or 5 productions by the onboard team and one or two were very missable and low quality, otherwise acceptable - previous cruises have been better. Food is good overall and service was mostly good though the sommeliers were not very prompt or attentive on this ship. We went Concierge Class on deck 8 - this added some nice benefits including a bottle of bubbly, helipad visit and galley tour. We would go on this tour again, mainly for the ports of call and the people we met on shore. All really kind, helpful and happy. Read Less

We loved the itinerary of this cruise. Singapore embarkation was quick and luggage delivered to our room. Our Balcony cabin 8031 was spacious with enough closet space. However the bathroom mirror fogged up after the shower. We reported it to the house keeping and front desk. After 3 service call the repairman couldn't fix the problem indicating the problem with their exhaust system of the ship. I am a vegetarian the first few days the food was very skimpy, after speaking to Restaurant manager the problem was fixed. The dining room staff Elias and Johnson were friendly and very efficient. Our room attendant Daria is very sweet and always asked about our comfort. The shows are excellent. Overall it was a good cruise, hope celebrity will replace this ship with a newer one. Shore Excursion we took Colombo, Goa, Muskat and Dubai excursion. Most of the excursions were city tours. The tours were OK. Overall thecruise was average due to creeky old ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise as part of a land/cruise package starting in Beijing. Embarkation at Shanghai was the longest we have ever experienced lasting over two hours. Passengers were being put through the priority lines regardless of Captains Club status. Once on board we found that the items we preordered for embarkation had not been delivered. It was a disappointing start to the cruise but things did get better. The food in the Main Dining room was good albeit the menu was somewhat limited. By far the best food was found in Qsine and Sushi on 5. The lunch menu in the Ocean View buffet was very good with lots of specials going on such as lobster rolls. Unfortunately the evening menu was bland and repetitive. Our concierge class cabin was good and clean. However there was a metal bar above the bed that was irritating. I believe it once held cushions as a sort it head board. Our cabin attendant was average and on several occasions did the evenin turn down at 4:30 in the afternoon. Each time he removed our canapés before we had the chance to eat them! Apart from two shows the entertainment was average. As usual the production shows are over amplified and in many cases mimed us the “click” system. The Rock City show was an example where the cast yelled the rock songs at us rather than singing them. Less is more. On the plus side two shows were very good. The fairy tale show wad fun and the cast actually looked like they were enjoying themselves. The best show of all featured two Ariel artistes and acrobats/dancers. We like to attend the quizzes but the two activitiy hosts were extremely irritating. Shore trips were good but as this was Chinese New Year the locations were very crowded and we encountered a lot a jostling and pushing. Hing Kong in particular was extremely busy which ruled out a visit to the Peak. In addition many museums/places of interest were closed. Moral of story - avoid Asia at time of the lunar New Year. Disembarkation at Singapore’s was relatively quick. Read Less

Liked the itinerary. Best food seemed to be in Blu or Oceanview. The burger in grill by pool is absolutely the worst thing ever!!! Really, Celebrity, how do you mess up a burger so bad??? MDR food was not good. Connie is clean and service in cabin was great. Our cabin, Aqua on deck 9 was quiet and kept spotless. We love Celebrity but prefer the S class ships and can’t wait to try Apex next year. Enjoyed all the excursions. Great tour guides. Booked all our excursions thru X. Caught a bad cold mid cruise and attendant was very nice about seeing I had everything I need when I stayed in cabin all day on a sea day to recover. Public areas are lovely. Always love Bacio. While staff very friendly and helpful. All in All we enjoyed the cruise but prefer the S class ships. Met so many nice people from all over the world. Read Less

We booked this cruise for the exciting itinerary. We were concerned after reading some previous reviews that the ship would disappoint. We kept out expectations realistic and were very pleasantly surprised. We loved the layout of the ship. We have been on 10 cruises and we prefer the older style ships as we feel they offer more space and a lovely relaxed feel. The food was very good at all the restaurants. Although we had access to Blu with our cabin class we chose to dine at San Marco every night with the rest of our family and loved the atmosphere and food quality. We enjoyed the shows and the variety of entertainment and we loved the outdoor cinema. We were very happy with our cabins and found the storage to be more then other ships. The crew were fantastic! Its amazing how they turn up each day with so much enthusiasm and energy for their jobs. Well done to Celebrity for creating, from what we could see, a strong crew morale. Our recommendations would be to keep your expectations realistic and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. How could we complain over spending two weeks being totally waited on and entertained? Let me start by saying the majority of the staff were great. I found some of the male help in the dining room did not give way to any females, even when they, the female, had the right of way. I found the decor of the ship drab and the floor plan very confusing. The organization of the ship/ships crew I found to be disorganized. Why, for the love of sanity, would a crew member to told to paint the cafe during breakfast and lunch? The fumes were horrible and very unappetizing. Why not do it at night when there would be less people there? The offering of entertainment/activities I found to be very limiting. Why are there always more offerings for activities that are trying to sell you something? More for their pocketbook, I know. The offerings for this cruise was very limited, compared to other cruise lines, in my experience. The food was the most distressing. My DH and I do not tolerate spices and almost every dish we had was unedible because of having too much spice. Even foods not expected to have spice, was spicy. My mouth was on fire the majority of the trip. The mineral bath was fantastic! And it was free! Other cruise lines charge for the use. The activity of Improvisation was the most fun we have had on a cruise line in a long, long time. It was just not long enough. Speaking of service, my DH has a problem with his arms and requires ice packs at night. The crew was most helpful in providing that in the middle of the night. They were great. Would I go again? Probably not on a Celebrity again. Read Less

I chose this cruise because 'Celebrity Cruises' had been recommended to me by my parents who would have the same level of standards as myself. The price was inviting and some of the ports were in places I had yet to visit. I traveled with my boyfriend and my parents (my father is disabled and has to use a wheelchair) so cruises make sense as a holiday option. We stayed in Abu Dhabi for 4 days prior to the cruise and book-ended the trip with 3 nights in Rome. These two stays were what made the holiday in all honesty, and these were booked personally. Firstly the ship, the Constellation is an old tired ship that really needs some TLC. Yes it is spotlessly clean and the staff do their utmost to keep it so. The decks are well worn, the sunbeds were old and not very comfortable and the sun towels very faded and tatty. The Ocean View Cafe, the food was mediocre and the restaurant, again tired looking, broken ice machines, dripping coffee dispensers etc. The Poolside Cafe, burgers were good but unfortunately Alexander had a very displeasing temperament and everything was served begrudgingly. The San Marco restaurant was the only saving grace, Alistair and Jonny were great waiters and always wore a smile and a friendly greeting and the food was a much better standard than Ocean view. The entertainment was very poor, I had been told of 'West End' worthy entertainment in the evenings but not the 'one man shows' we were shown. Obviously the better shows are for the better ships. The movies that were shown on board were firstly not vetted by anyone and sometimes not appropriate for the few kids on board but also incredibly lacking in choice, the same movie was shown more than 9 times in one week. The one opportunity I had to watch a movie I wanted to see the sound was not working with the picture and no one did anything about it. The pool side band that played each day at about 3pm were dreadful, they played the same set each day bar one new song at the end and not only that but the lead singer could not sing, she proceeded to butcher well known songs for 15 days straight. The excursions, as my father was wheelchair bound most of the time off the ship we had to pick tours with minimal walking for him. In Jordan, myself and my mother went to Petra, a tour that started off ok, until we stopped in the middle of nowhere at a shop to use the 'toilets' but we wasted over 30 mins, then we had lunch at the Movenpick in Petra, food was fine but our guide did not have the courage to tell people to hurry up and finish up. We did not enter into Petra until after 3pm and were told to be back at the bus at 6. You travel all the distance to see one of the 'New 7 wonders of the world' only to get 3 hours to explore it. My father and my boyfriend embarked on the Aqaba tour and Wadi Rum which involved a drive through Aqaba where a fort, a beach and a street with hotels were pointed out and that concluded the tour. They were then driven to a 'Welcome center' where they all got off the bus to pick up a ticket and told to get back on the bus again immediately and then driven to a Bedouin tent and ignored for 3 hours. This tour was supposed to be an informative tour and the tent was supposed to have someone explain the Bedouin culture etc. a complete waste of money and time. Thankfully the remainder of the tours we had booked were just transport and we did our own sightseeing, unfortunately though, the times for collection were well ahead of the ship leaving port so we could have had more time in places. The 'boutiques' were overpriced and the 'sales' they held each day were not worth writing about. Just for example, one watch that my boyfriend was interested in was 'reduced' to $200 from $600 but is available online for £70.. hardly a saving. One final thing to add to my review was the Suez canal was not a 'feature' to add to the list, it's a canal full of flies with not much to see either side. The restaurants, bars and even the Solarium lacking in electric fly catchers were filled with flies which were crawling all over the food for 3 days. Although I do wish to cruise again, I will not travel on this ship, but one of the ships my parents actually traveled on as the standards seem much higher. Read Less

Reception and processing relatively smooth. We had and inside cabin which was clean and reasonably well maintained. Our steward was friendly and accommodating. We were on the 9th deck and the cabin was noisy in the mornings from the pool machinery starting up. We headed to a bar for sail-away only to be hounded by staff selling drinks packages. We are all moderate drinkers and it was disappointing to be constantly asked by staff why we did not have a package. For us it was just not cost effective. Why no sail-away parties? This should always be a highlight - a celebration of the departure & getting underway but they were just weren't any, not what we were expecting. She just slipped her lines and left. So boring. Suitcases were delivered promptly and we headed down for dinner. The staff in the San Marco restaurant seemed to be just trying too hard. I don't need my bread & dips to be introduced with a fanfare every night. As for the food, the quality was reasonable but the quantities supplied were so small. No wonder they made such a fuss about the bread. Take one example - my wife ordered scallops for a starter. What arrived, beautifully presented, was one, single, solitary scallop, sliced into four pieces. I didn't know it was possible to cut a scallop that small. The supposed signature dish of baked Alaska was simply an somewhat passé arctic roll with three flavours of ice cream topped with a dollop of meringue. Come on - I could do better than that. The ocean-view cafe reached another level of deficiency. The food here completely lacked any imagination or variety. The same choices were rolled out day after day. On a ship, one would expect to see a good variety of fish and seafood. Of the latter there was none and the fish served tended to be dry and unappetising. My wife, a fish and seafood lover, lost weight on this cruise due to the paucity of choice. On a brighter note, the Tuscan Grille was much closer to what we were expecting but why should we have to pay a premium for what should be common quality throughout the ship. The staff there were excellent. For daytime activities, not being a sun lover, I tended to stay inside, mostly reading in the reflections lounge. There was generally a wide variety of background music played but I was appalled to hear one modern song featuring the f-word when there was a likelihood of young children being present. The same happened when I was taking photos next to the cinema in the afternoon. It's just not on. I attended a couple of the lectures, one by the captain on navigation and the other on Islam. Both were good. The captain was very witty and entertaining. The two dance bands were very good and the 'bandaoke' events were great to watch. The orchestra were excellent - clearly very talented musicians. What let the ship down was a glaring gap in the evening scheduling between 8.30 & 9.45 where nothing much was occurring except a show. The main reason we chose this cruise was for the itinerary and we enjoyed visiting all of the ports. We prefer doing our own thing so didn't participate in any of the Celebrity excursions observing that, in common with all cruise companies, there was a significant mark up in their prices. I feel that one of Celebrity's main weaknesses is in communication. When we booked our cruise it had an additional port of New Mangalore included making 4 ports in India. We then received a communique informing us that this port had been dropped from the itinerary, the only reason given was to 'enhance your cruise experience.' This was not expanded upon leaving us unsatisfied. We now understand that this particular port was generating a lot of negative feedback from previous guests so Celebrity's decision is understandable. Why then could they not have told us the truth. I don't like feeling like a mushroom! The quality and availability of the port guides was also very poor. On other ships these have been of a much higher standard and delivered to your cabin rather than having to go to the purser's desk and request them. On other ships in my experience, internet access has been available on a timed basis where a quantity of time is purchased allowing guests to log on and off preserving the remaining time for the next visit. Not so for Celebrity where the options were to pay by the hour, day or full cruise but the rates were way too expensive. I'm afraid I was not prepared to pay $315 for the cruise access 'deal' and that, together with the poor port guides left us sometimes poorly equipped for visiting some of the ports. We just didn't feel that we were being supported enough. I also feel that the gratuity rate of 18% is somewhat high, compared to the 15% on Cunard, Princess and other Carnival lines. We prefer to tip ourselves and usually have the automatic daily gratuity removed from the outset. I could hardly contain my anger when, at the end of the cruise, I found a set of envelopes with suggested tipping amounts left on our bed. I feel quite strongly that we should not be subsidising the crew's wages but are happy to reward good service. Cruise companies as a whole should pay their staff what they believe they are worth and this should be reflected in the price of the cruise. One of the best things we did find was that the kids club activities for our 9 year old granddaughter were excellent. She thoroughly enjoyed herself and was well looked after. So in summary, whilst the itinerary was good, we left the ship feeling disappointed that the cruise was not all it could have been. We paid a lot of money for 5 people and feel that the money could have been better spent elsewhere. It was our first time with Celebrity and sadly, it will also be our last. Read Less

The itinerary to UAE, India and Asian ports in this different part of the world was the attraction for us to choose this cruise. And it was amazing to see the culture and background of these wonderful countries with a taste of their life in each port. We went from the vast wealth of the UAE ports where money is no object in those countries to the sheer poverty, chaos and massive population in India - it was a huge contrast to compare. The weather in March/April was hot and humid - low to mid thirties each day and warm at night. We only wore summer clothes for the entire cruise. Our overall experience onboard was excellent in every aspect especially crew customer service in all areas of the ship. The food onboard was delicious and varied and most enjoyable. We did not visit any specialty restaurants. The evening entertainment in the theatre was varied and excellent with a variety of great performers. The band were fantastic. The musical entertainment throughout the day and evening was by a couple of bands, singers and musicians which offered great variety. TheLifestyle staff Jeanna and Gigi were energetic and amusing in all their activities. Our cabin was FV 7202 which was rear facing at the back of the ship with a massive balcony and an additional room which offered great accommodation for extra family members. We arranged all of our own shore excursions in each port so cannot comment on those provided by Celebrity. Embarkation in Abu Dhabi was slow and took 1.5 hours to get onboard - they need more check in staff there. This is a small ship with only 2000 passengers and we never felt there was a long wait time for anything onboard - disembarkation at each port was quick as we did not do any celebrity shore excursions so we could walk off when we were ready. Tendering at Patong Beach in Phuket was a little slow as they only used 4 launches so there was a delay in getting ashore on that day. Our family had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this cruise on Constellation. Read Less

This was our first time cruising with Celebrity so we were a little unsure what to expect but we needn't have worried as all the family have had a brilliant time onboard and in the ports. Constellation isnt the biggest ship but is well laid out and has a great atmosphere. yes, as some other reviewers have mentioned it is showing it's age in places and is looking a little tired in some areas, some of the balconies are rusty and some of the carpets in the the public lounges are showing a lot of wear. However, the maintenance team seem to work around the clock painting etc and the ship overall is very clean. Our cabin was of a good size, the balcony was not the largest and was showing signs of wear with rusting etc but perfectly adequate. Our cabin steward Yogis did a good job of looking after us and was always on hand to help with whatever we needed. As we were not allowed to take our own kettle we requested one from Yogis and it was brought to the cabin immediately. We thought the food overall was of a high standard particularly in the Marco Polo Restaurant - we did not try any of the speciality restaurants as we are of the view that we have already paid for our meals therefore don't agree with having to pay again to eat in the other restaurants though this is just our opinion. The buffet restaurant got really busy, although we did go there on a few occasions the food was tasty enough but not always very hot. Also the drinks service in the buffet restaurant is VERY slow, often we had finished our meals before the waiter had brought our drinks - this is an area that needs to be improved on. We usually managed to get a sun lounger even on sea days but as always seems to be the case there are a large number of selfish people who put towels on loungers to reserve them but never actually use them. Many occasions we saw loungers not being used for hours at a time when there were people walking up and down the decks trying to find one. Celebrity really need to sort this issue out and have the Pool Butlers monitoring this issue as this practice is unfair to other passengers. Entertainment was mixed, some great nights, others not so obviously down to personal taste. The silent disco were our best nights, loads of fun and really great nights. To summarise, we had a really great time, we liked the ship and thought the service on the whole was excellent with a friendly crew. We would definitely choose Celebrity again. Read Less

We chose this trip as we liked the itinerary but we had a port cancelled prior to the cruise (no explanation why) and had 2 days in Hong Kong instead which we thought would have been better but no. We had 1 night in a hotel in Singapore before boarding which was very nice. We arrived at the port fairly early and were soon on board no waiting around and decided to make use of our drinks package as our rooms were not ready. The ship is looking abit old and tired with quite alot of rust around but it was being painted. It is not a bad sized ship and we never had any problems getting sunbeds even on sea days. We had a balcony cabin on deck 7 which was spotless, there is not alot of storage but we managed we had also requested a kettle in the room and we had one. There was quite abit of rust on the balcony and it was difficult at times to open the balcony door. We used the buffet for breakfast and lunch and there was always a good choice, we did use it once in the evening but were disappointed with what was on offer. We had Select dining which as very good as we were a group of 7 and we only had the pager once which was great. The food in the MDR was very good it could have been a little warmer. The only thing we found was that there did not seem to be many staff as we often had to wait quite a while just to order food, we also had to wait quite a while for the wine waiter. We were in the MDR on one occasion and we waited so long we left before dessert as we got fed up, but we found that most evening we had to wait quite a while. We did use Sushi on 5 and Quisine which were very good. The entertainment was a little bit of hit and miss, we found that if there was a show on there wasn't alot else going on at the same time which would have been good as the shows were not always to our taste. There were a couple of good singers on the Sunset bar. The service from around the ship was very good and the staff always seemed to be working very hard and from what we could gather there have been cut backs and it did show. Ho chi Minh We normally do our own thing when we get to the ports but as we docked so far away from the city that we booked a trip to the Mekong Delta, that was a big mistake. We did not realise until the night before when we got the tickets out that the trip started with a 3hr bus ride as this was not stated in the description of the tour. When we arrived at the Mekong Delta we were rushed onto a ferry, then we had tea, then fruit and singing and a sweet factory then straight down to a packed river to get onto a 4 man boat back to the ferry and back on the bus for our 3hr journey back to the port. There were stalls which we did not get to look at as everything was rushed. Hong Kong We docked here there was a shuttle bus provided to take you into Hong Kong and there was also an MRT station nearby. We had our tour booked here. We went up the Peak in a taxi which was quite reasonable as the queue for the tram was a 2hr wait. We were overnight here but as it was Chinese New Year alot of places were closed. Manila We were docked here and are within walking distance of the town. We had our own tour booked here which was good. There is not alot in the port. Boracay We had to get a tender here to the jetty, we had a tuk-tuk for a dollar to Station 2, then a sunbed and parasol for $5 and a drink from a local bar for $2 so for less than $10 we had a lovely day. The beach is spotless and the sea is beautiful it was paradise. The ride in the tuk-tuk is priceless. Kota Kinabalu We docked here and there is not alot around, you can walk down to Jesselton Point which is quite nice. We had our own tour booked. We would not sail on Constellation again I think it is too old a ship and there does not seem to be enough to do. Read Less

Chosen for winter sun. Ports uninspiring. Indian visas were a complete, and very expensive, debacle that Celebrity needs to get a grip on - their advice differed from person to person. Unusually, some of the crew were indifferent, at best, and plain rude at worst. Most crew were great but there were more than a few dissenters. 8th cruise with Celebrity and will definitely not be on a Millennium class ship again - our 3rd time on one and they are all very tired and getting shabby. Not Celebrity's finest cruise offering. Tuscan Grill was excellent every time (esp the serving staff and the Somelier). Qsine was good once and terrible twice. Getting a sunbed around the pool was a daily disaster - staff did nothing about beds being 'booked by towel' and when some people 'booked' 2 beds each. When challenged the guilty passengers merely shouted at anyone who dared touch their towel/magazine....never seen this on a Celebrity boat before. Usually the pool crew apply a strict 'use it or lose it' policy on sunbeds. Some people rose at 5am to book beds! The whole itinerary for this cruise needs review and the ship needs replaced or properly updated. Read Less

This is our third celebrity cruise, and the worst. We did choose it for the itinerary however which was absolutely fabulous. But i totally agree about the rip of indian visa, which cost us £434.00 had we realised this we wouldn’t have booked, it’s just totally ridiculous, not travelling to india again. The ship has no wow factor at all dark and gloomy, just no luxury about it atmosphere was flat and left no impression of fun times. Cabin clean and our attendant was fabulous, nothing to much trouble, shower area very dated. We had a twin room, and it was so small, when opening the bathroom door, it all most touched the wardrobe door. Never had such a small cabin. Again no luxury. All staff were very pleasant, but withe exception of the pool butlers, lazy, uninterested, no where to be seen sometimes. once again the saga of the sun beds, people putting a towel or a book one them and going away for hours, some reserving two in the sun, two in the shade, so selfish. Pool butlers would do nothing about it although it is stated if you leave the pool area for more than 30 minutes, your items would be removed. Spoke to some officers about it who stroll through the pool area from time to time, one of them just stood and said nothing and all totally ignorant manner. Also total lack of sun beds. It was the same carry on each sea day, arguments and unpleasantness to try and get one spoiled the holiday. Do not waste your money on internet, never works, slow and breaks up most of the time. Traveled with my daughter who needed it for her business, totally rubbish. Also the man in the internet office kenny, was ignorant, rude, totally inefficient. My daughter said to him after being so infuriated with the situation. I will go further with complete, he replied please do. You did not feel you were on a five star ship. Any way we will not go on concellation again, and in fact it has put me off celebrity. Royal caribbean here we come in april. Read Less

This is our 2nd cruise with Celebrity, having cruised from Sydney to Honolulu in April of 2016 on board the Solstice. We knew that the Constellation was a older ship, and did have some reservations about going on a older and smaller ship, but it did have a couple of refits over the past few years, most recently in May of 2017, so we hope it was up to the Solstice class standard. We need not have worried. Other than a few areas of rust, and a little paint overspray in areas, the ship was very clean, especially our stateroom, which was immaculate. It was Concierge Class on deck 9 (9141), and really looked brand new. Our stateroom attendant (Sidney) was excellent. He couldn't do enough for you. Even with tips being included in the fare we paid, we gave him extra anyway. He deserved it. Every day before 4pm we would have an ice bucket with sparkling wine delivered, without even asking! I thought we just received a welcome bottle with Concierge Class, but we received a bottle everyday... I suppose it all goes down to how you treat and respect the staff... We started our holiday in Dubai, so had transport down to Abu Dhabi on the day of embarkation. While the terminal in Abu Dhabi was a bit chaotic, with the many questions about India Visa's, we got on board after about 1 hour. Our bags arrived at our stateroom within 30 minutes, although others in our party (we had 8 in 4 Concierge Class rooms in a row) had to wait 2-3 hours before their bags arrived. We had the premium drinks package for all, and also a 3 specialty restaurant package. Tuscan Grill, Sushi on 5, and QSine were all exceptional. Food excellent, and the service outstanding. We found a wine really to our liking in Tuscan Grill, and when I asked for it in the MDR, they especially went up to Tuscan Grill to bring a few bottle’s down. From then on, whenever we dined in the MDR, they brought us the wine, to the point where our favorite sommelier (Lawrence) ensured that bottles were brought down early and chilled, so they were ready for us each evening. Food in the MDR was very good as well, just not as good as the specialty restaurants. Breakfast and lunch were mainly in the Ocenview Cafe, which was good, but not great. Not a lot of variety, but some days were great - there was whole suckling pig for lunch one day which was divine. Only had dinner once there and it was disappointing. The entertainment was good, but I must admit, we only got to half the evening shows due to timing and having a relaxing dinner a few of the nights. Highlight was the violinist, who was amazing. Can’t remember her name. She had an electric violin and she could really play! All the other performers were very good, but she stood out. Ports were ok, but nothing to really rave about. Oman landscape spectacular, but city itself not too much to see other than the Palace, Mosque and Souk. All done easily in the time we had. Goa was what I expected of India, a bit dirty, chaotic, interesting sights and sounds, produce markets etc… Goa was my favourite stop. Mumbai – never have seen worse pollution, either in the sea, land, or air. The airbourne particles were so thick that even after only 36 hours the ship had a fine layer of soot on all outdoor surfaces. Not a highlight… All in all, a great trip, and the cruise itself was more that we hoped for, and in my opinion, the service was slightly better than on the Solstice last year. Our entire travelling party enjoyed the Constellation so much we booked again for next year while onboard. Read Less

Just returned from the Arabian Sea Adventure on Celebrity Constellation. Have to say we were a bit worried by all the reviews after we had booked and many said the ship was tired and well worn. Well, I do not know which part they were looking at, but we found it to be wonderful everywhere. The beautiful coordinated furniture, comfy chairs and multiple lounge areas were superb. (so often there is no where to sit on a cruise ship and coffee shops etc are so full you end up back in your cabin!) We would recommend Celebrity to anyone who wants a truly wonderful ship; fantastic staff; superb food and great staterooms to book with Celebrity. We have not been on other ships in the Celebrity fleet, but will certainly have Celebrity on the top of our future cruise company list before booking elsewhere. (NB: We are not first timers - we have cruised with many other companies and Celebrity certainly comes top with us). The food was exceptional in every area. The Buffet food was great with variety and really good quality food. This was unfortunately marred by seeing other guests who ate wearing just a vest - dreadful; the other restaurants were stunning and it was lovely to have the 'chique' nights too. As a Sky Suite passenger, we were fortunate enough to eat in Lumiere most of the time, which was exceptional in every detail. Plus having Michaels lounge as a little hideaway was truly brilliant. Nadia and her team really made every day a wonderful experience. Read Less

Christmas Cruise departing Abu Dhabi and travelling to Oman and then onto India. Returned to Dubai for New Year and then ported back to Abu Dhabi. Family of 4 with two teenagers, 7th family cruise. Overall we had an enjoyable time, but it was not amazing. The crowd was a little older and there were not a lot of families with teenagers in our demographic. My kids found a few kids but didn't really gel with a group unlike prior cruises where they have made longterm friends. There were a lot of English retirees on board, and nothing against them, but not really our crowd. There were quite a few sea days and to pass the time we went to the enrichment series "Inside the Whitehouse" - Melinda Bates - this was a fascinating lecture series and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went to trivias, game shows and all the nightly theatre entertainment. The highlight was the Whitney Houston tribute show - singer Ashlie-Amber who was ex American Idol. She was superb. Also enjoyed the magician and the Celebrity shows. Overall I thought the entertainment was very good. I would like to see a bit more organized activities for guests on board, particularly trivias and boardgames/cards etc. Trivia was hugely popular and could be run in different formats and more frequently. I didn't go to the pool area at all - but it was crazy busy and getting a lounge is a miracle. I heard stories that people were sleeping on lounges or getting them at 4.00am. Cabin 8023 & 8027 We had two interconnecting inside cabins on deck 8. Great space for 4 people, but for a cruise of this length we would probably opt for a sea view next time. Great for sleeping, but we have a tendency to loose track of time without exposure to daylight! Food The food on board was above average, particularly in the restaurant San Marco. We ate in the specialty dining on the first evening Tuscan Grill, but wouldn't do so again. Not worth the addition US$130 (with discounts) that we paid as not that much better than San Marco, IMO. We don't eat at the buffett that much as we find it overwhelming tending to stick to San Marco, even for lunch on some days. Husband and I take the drinks package with no alcohol, but mocktails and coffee. Jury is out if it is really worth it at $22 per day. It probably is because you don't hold back and order what you feel like. Kids take the soda package and I think they get value for money. PORTS We had private tours in all ports Pre cruise in Abu Dhabi really enjoyed our 4 days here - packed a lot in. Lourve is outstanding, desert 4WD on the dunes, the beautiful mosque, Ferrariworld was fantastic if you like that kind of thing! We stayed at the Royal Rose Hotel and it was excellent. Breakfast included too! Muscat, Oman was outstanding - beautiful port, lots to see, interesting Souk markets, fascinating city. Really enjoyed it and would thorougly recommend. Cochin, India - Private tour where we had a house boat down a river. It was relaxing, but took a couple of hours to get there from port (about 50kms). The city was very dirty generally. Goa, India - a disaster! - teenage tour guide on his first job who had no idea what he was doing. Underwhelming, dirty place, but maybe it was the guide. Apparently this is where locals go for there relaxing weekends (if this is the best they've got, feel sorry for them). We had an great lunch at a local restarant, got dropped off and had to fend for ourselves. It turned out to be amazing and noone got sick. Mumbai, India - wonderful guide, fascinating city. We really enjoyed this port. Lots to see and do, interesting history and architecture from British days. Dubai, UAE - we had been to Dubai before so didn't venture too far. We went to the Souks, river cruise and the wonderful Dubai Mall. Shopping will never be the same after you have visited Dubai Mall. Love Dubai - it is a happening place! Read Less

We were able to get a good price for a concierge cabin. Some of the staff were excellent, others only average. This ship is showing it's age with dated carpets, etc. & there is rust showing up in many places, but the crew keep it clean & are generally obliging. I didn't like the piecemeal layout of the Oceanview restaurant, took quite a while to locate the various sections. The cabin & it's furnishings were comfortable, particularly the bed & pillows. Meals generally very good, steaks done just as requested. This particular cruise's destinations are sometimes hours from the ports, hence a lot of time is spent travelling. I amused myself for over an hour at one port watching the crews trying to recover the last two tenders in rough seas. It took ages for the captain to decide to turn the ship to give them a lee side. Theater cast were brilliant. Read Less

Had never sailed with Celebrity before. Onlinevacationcenter.com had a very attractive price to SE Asia, so we chose this cruise We have sailed to this destination before on a different cruise line, but were pleasantly surprised by Celebrity. The entertainment was the best we have ever experienced, and the dining quality was the best, also. Embarkation and disembarking were very well organized and smooth. Ships employees were very friendly and helpful, always greeting you with a smile and a squirt of Purell. The buffet was large with numerous choices, all of which were tasty. The nightlife for late night dancing or having a drink was very active with a lot of people on the dance floor. The band was very good, and played a large variety of music. We stayed in a Singapore hotel for two nights before our cruise started, and one night when we returned to Singapore. Will definitely give Celebrity the first consideration on furure cruises. We wanted to see Vietnam as we had not been there and felt it would be an easy way to get there. Although Constellation is smaller than most ships we have been on we like it and we thought our cabin was first class, it was a good size and very light with lots of storage space. Would have preferred a shower screen to curtain but bathroom was ok. The entertainment was very good, more speakers on the ports visited would have been nice. Some of the ports were a 2 to 3 hours journey from the city, the shore excursions were very expensive and there was no information available for independent travellers. The drink prices were exorbitant and drink packages could not be bought for one occupant of a cabin so a non drinker would have pay for something they could not use fully. The food was generally good but portions on mains were sometimes miniscule and the deserts were very limited in variety. The staff were all polite and friendly and helpful. The embarkation and disembarkation were well organised and the drink on arrival was a nice touch.. We enjoyed the cruise and would holiday on Constellation again if it was going to an area we wanted to visit. Read Less

We chose the Constellation over the Millennium primarily because it garnered better reviews and had Ocean Liners intact. Both sailed out of Singapore, which would have saved us air tickets and time travelling to port. We were initially slightly apprehensive about sailing our longest ever voyage on one of the oldest and smallest ships we have done. These fears were unfounded. The crew was excellent and their enthusiasm, sincerity and professionalism stood out. Our cabin (a Penthouse) was huge, with more than enough room and we were truly pampered onboard. Our cabin steward and butler were both very helpful and full of initiative, meeting our needs even before we realised we had them! Entertainment was of a consistently high standard, with the exception of the Broadway revue, which needed more rehearsal time. Food was hit and miss but the service standards of the crew in Luminae could not be faulted. Our experiences in Ocean Liners (thrice) and Tuscan Grille (once, at lunch on a sea day) were both very good. OL food was hit and miss but service was excellent; Tuscan had both very good food and service and we regretted not booking for dinner. Specialty dining was complimentary for our suite but we were travelling in a big group and therefore could not utilise the perk as often as we would have liked. Sushi on 5 had great rolls but sashimi was mediocre. Service by Zeus was outstanding as usual. We did not expect our child to enjoy the Kids' club but she did. More so than on a typical RCL cruise, which was surprising. We also enjoyed the activities organised by the crew - the watercolour lessons, the dance lessons, the gym lessons, the trivia sessions and the table-tennis rounds. It was a cruise that was as active as you wanted to make of it. Everything was done in good taste without intruding into the relaxing vibe of the overall cruise. Would we go again? In a heartbeat. We would prefer if Celebrity had shorter cruises around the region though - it is very difficult to get leave from work in the beginning of the work year for such a long period of time. If they had 7-10 day cruises around the region, we would be back multiple times. As it is, we are next booked on a 10-day European cruise in June and a 10-day New Zealand cruise in December, both of which happen in periods of time where it is easier to get vacation time. Having sailed on Celebrity ships before, we were expecting the standard to be somewhat higher. Normally Celebrity pitch their niche market a notch above their sister company -RCL - but this ship was not. It was a little tired in some areas and the size of the bars and public areas were too small for the number of passengers on board. The cabin and public areas were bright and clean and the staff very approachable and friendly. The entertainment on board was excellent and the production shows were amazing , and some of the best we've seen at sea. Guest entertainment shows were also very good. The free "classic" drinks package - on offer with most deals -was a bit of a let down, with many drinks excluded , and martinis were simply in available to all classic package guests in the main ice martini bar. In the end , we upgraded to the premium package as we felt we were being treated as second class passengers in this regard. There was also a lot of hard selling of the drinks or upgraded drinks packages , and also the speciality restaurants . Upon boarding we were bombarded by staff making a heavy sales pitch! The buffet restaurant food was good altough somewhat repetitive on a daily basis. We missed however the service offered by Princess Cruises whereby staff came round offering to get your tea and coffee for you. We opted for " Select anytime dining" and this was our biggest complaint of all - you simply couldn't reserve in advance a table for two during peak hour -between 8- 8:30. CElebrity cannot compare to NCL in this regard. The tables for two in select dining were also on top of each other, and placed in lines , with no intimacy or privacy. In the end , we requested to change to set dining- late seating . To be fair, the Maitre Dee was very accommodating and eventually found us a lovely table This ship has now done away with " formal night " and replaced it with " elegant chic" While this appeared to be popular with passengers , I would have liked to have been advised of this in advance as I had brought 3 long formal gowns, and felt a little out of place- so ladies be aware of this. Tuxedos were also an exception rather than the norm! The embarkation and on/off boarding was well organised with no problems in this respect,- as was the tendering process. In summary, we enjoyed the cruise and made many good friends -probably because the venues were a bit smaller than our normal ships- allowing for this to happen.- so every cloud has a silver lining I suppose! We had sailed with Celebrity previously (Australia & NZ) so when the opportunity to sail with them again to India, we jumped at the chance. Embarkation was very straight forward and we appreciated getting on board early so that we could have a "wander" as well as unpack before the emergency drill This meant that we could dress for dinner in a good timescale, which for those who are not regular cruisers,is not always the case. The overnight stop in Dubai wasn't of great interest to us as we have been there before however on the 2nd day, we made use of the shuttle bus to go into the city. This was ok as it took us to the Dubai Mall however the times issued by the ship seemed to have no resemblance to that used by the bus company. That seemed to be more "we'll leave when we want and come back when we want" leaving passengers hanging around both on the way in and the way back ! I am really glad that we have been to India however the New Mangalore stop wasn't the best and the tour that we took (through Celebrity) was expensive and not what we expected. Now this could simply be that we chose the wrong tour however we then did another one (again with Celebrity) in Mumbai. The guide was very poor. She was more interested in her schedule than letting us see what was supposed to be included ! I could go into a great deal more detail regarding the poor aspects of this tour however I won't bore you with what was not a particularly good experience. Suffice to say that Celebrity refunded part of the cost and we won't do any more tours with them should we decide to sail with them again. There are a number of reviews that already state the chaos of Indian immigration over the three days. I can appreciate that on the basis of this being the first time in the Indian ports, there was an element of uncertainty, however what I can't accept is the fact that immigration cards were issued to us for Mumbai, by Celebrity, that had't been stamped or signed. Utter chaos - and very poor administration and customer service by them. As other members have said, we were unable to dock in Oman (very disappointing) and went direct to Abu Dhabi and docked early. We were told that the gangways would NOT be open until dis-embarkation the following day. All very clear - until at 10.00 that night the public address system told us that everyone had to get off the ship to clear immigration ! 2,000 VERY unhappy passengers and not an Officer to be seen. Poor Celebrity - simply VERY poor ! Having said all that, our Sky Suite was comfortable (not big, but it is an older ship) and well looked after by our steward. We were able to eat in Luminae which was wonderful. The food was excellent and the the service could simply not have been better. The staff mixed the friendliness without ever forgetting what you needed etc. Will we sail with Celebrity again ? Maybe but I would certainly think twice about cruising with them on a maiden route.
