Don't be swayed by negative reviews, we've sailed with P&O, Fred Olsen etc and were a little dubious about this ship but decided to go with it as the itinerary for the caribbean suited us perfectly plus we prefer the smaller ships. Admittedly on embarking the Celebration first impression weren't brilliant but all I can say is the ship's ambience and charm grows on you not to mention the crew..... Our spacious cabin on deck 1 was great - large double bed, double wardrobes (30 rigid hangers), tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer, more drawers than we could fill, flat screen tv with SKY sports/news , the usual small but manageable bathroom and the most wonderful cabin steward (Aris). The entire ship is kept absolutely spotless by the attentive crew including the outside deck areas which were cleaned overnight. The food was absolutely fine with several dining options, We loved the Meridian restaurant, open dining meant that we chose to sit with fellow passengers, meeting different people each evening - speed dating at sea!!. Drinks and wine packages available were very reasonably priced (if not on the all inclusive option) and we loved the coffee pot for our daily Lavazza fix with cake. I was a bit anxious about the atlantic crossing but the communication, visibility and professionalism of the captain and the officers put me at ease. Excellent Cruise Director who provided a variety of daytime enrichment opportunities - learn to dance, join a choir, murder mystery, quiz, bingo, table tennis, line dancing etc...we really wish we'd got off our sunbed and engaged more! Entertainment options were great and the live music provided in all bar areas was wonderful. Two formal nights held whilst we were on board, one with drinks and the opportunity to meet the captain. Would say this ship is better suited to adults given it's size.....All in all this ship and crew far exceeded all our expectations and we will most definitely return. Read Less

We have been on the Celebration three times before this cruise.Reading some of the reviews we were apprehensive about the way things had changed since we were on the ship in March 2017. We need not have worried we found that the ship was still as good as before with the same excellent service from all the crew. They really make this ship and cannot do enough for you and they are always cheerful. Cabin This was an inside cabin on deck 1 it was in a quiet location with not too much vibration. Our cabin steward Aris really looked after us and nothing was too much trouble for him.The cabin was kept very clean and although the towels we not the bath towel size we are used to they were thick fluffy and clean and changed twice a day. Food We used all the restaurants having breakfast and lunch in the Lido and our evening meal in the Meridian. We also dined in Mistrals. The breakfast was very appetising with a good variety of food. There was full English breakfast and continental style breakfast, plenty of choice for everyone. The staff were all very helpful and efficient clearing the tables promptly. There was also plenty of choice at lunch time both in the Lido and the Terrace Grill. The Meridian is waiter service and again the food was delicious and we were served by cheerful and efficient waiters.Mistrals was well worth the extra supplement, the meal was excellent and the waiters were very attentive. An enjoyable experience. We never had afternoon tea or the late night meals but the people who did have them said they were very good. Bars and entertainment We frequented both Horizons and Hemingways the service in these bars was very efficient Alex in Hemingways was a star he and his team Randy, Nosi and Glenys were extremely efficient and could not do enough for you they were always there to replenish your drinks as soon as you had nearly finished your drink they were there to take your order for the next one. They were always cheerful and enjoyed banter with the guests. The entertainment in this bar consisted of a young man with a guitar called King who has a beautiful voice and is an exceptional guitarist. There was another entertainer who played the electronic organ he did Reggae music. They were not too intrusive and you can carry on a conversation without having to shout. Irwin in Horizons bar was an excellent barman and always happy to serve you.The waiters Grace and Edward were brilliant and always happy to serve you too.The entertainment was a duo called 2Intense.They were really good and had a huge repertoire They too were very entertaining. The pool bar on deck 9 was run by Eferan and his team Geraldine and Jovan. They always had a smile and were happy to serve you even when it was blowing a gale one day. The ship may be old but it was clean the crew were cleaning all day every day and during the night too. As this was a repo cruise almost every one left the ship at the same time this disembarkation was managed very well by the crew. All in all this was an enjoyable cruise and we have booked to go on the old girl again in October . Read Less

This is our sixth cruise on-board the Celebration, the first being 10 years ago. Yes we will agree that the ship is getting a little old, however, the refurbishments to the ship, made over the period we have enjoyed here, are significant and have made a huge improvement to our enjoyment. Let's go from the start. Our luggage was taken from us at Manchester Airport, and the next we saw of it was in the cabin. (The same applied to our return journey) The transfer from plane to the ship, was effortless. The greeting and issue of the 'on board' cards was simple and quick. Once onboard, the staff were as friendly as always. The cabin (Deck 6 Outside Plus) was very large, very clean and well equipped. The food, especially in the main Dining Room, The Meridian, was nothing short of first class, great variety, great service, if variations were requested, they were always delivered. The food in the Lido self service dining area, has been greatly improved. The food is fresh, hot and beautifully presented. The entertainment staff were some of the best we have had. The 'show team' had fantastic harmonies together and produced a fantastically entertaining evening every night. (Congratulations' to them all) If there was a slight fault, we think it was with the ports of call. All Islands were affected by the recent hurricane. Most of the islands have repaired quickly from this devastation, however some have done little to repair, but we still go, twice during a 2 week cruise. Yes we know they want the tourist's money, but there is nothing to do and see, a 15 min. walk around and back on the ship, is all that they see of us and our money. Other ports have 'No Go' area's, which are a little off-putting. The excurtions listed onboard were extremly expensive and to be honest, not worth the prices stated. Some changes to the itinerary are required. It was my wife's special birthday whilst onboard. The staff (And Guests) made a huge fuss, and made this trip even more special. This cruise is highly recommended and we will be returning to the Celebration for future explorations in the near future. Thank you to all the staff. Read Less

Fantastic time on this cruise. The staff and crew made the holiday from the time we boarded until the time we left. We would like to thank all the staff but would like to name a few who made our first time special. Our cabin steward was Ronaldo who always smiled and was always there if we needed anything. Every morning in the Meridian restaurant we were greeted by the staff who were all pleasant and helpful especially Rosey. At night we returned to the Meredian and was spoilt by Frank our waiter who was always pleasant, polite and who spent time learning our names so we felt special (especially my mother who is in her 80’s and everyone called met mammy). Our wine waiter was Kumar who was so polite and always smiling, he made sure our glasses were never empty and made the most fantastic cocktails. After the show at night (which were always brilliant) we went to the Horizons bar were the staff could not do enough for you. They were so funny the way the reacted to each other it was sometimes like being at another show. We would like to thank Mohammed, Roger, Cecelia, Benjamin and Rohan for making our time on the Marella a memorable one. All the officers were pleasant but we enjoyed chatting to Chimi who was in charge of all the restaurants. If we met any of the staff or officers around the ship they always spoke and therefore when we look at cruising again in the future it will be with Thompson’s. Read Less

We chose this cruise as it offered good value for money (food, drinks and tips included) and also offered 5 island visits. We weren't expecting a lot of luxury but were pleasantly surprised about our whole experience. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The service in the restaurants was great and the food really good. The choice, presentation and service were all excellent. The entertainment was quite good too, although we didn't really bother with the shows - apart from the comedian who was excellent. There was a good choice of drinks including cocktails and again the service was usually very good. We had an inside cabin which was clean and had quite a lot of storage space - the bed was very comfy as well. Our cabin steward did an excellent job of keeping it clean and tidy. All the island visits were great - we sorted our own trips which saved a fortune on what the ship were charging. All in all were were pleasantly surprised with the whole experience and would recommend it (but maybe not if you like a bit more luxury!) Read Less

I've just had the most amazing 2 weeks in the Caribbean with my friend on our first cruise, having the opportunity to visit 10 different islands, meeting wonderful people from around the world and seeing so many beautiful locations in fantastic weather. The plane journey there and back was questionable, however I could not be more impressed by the level of service and quality of staff on the Marella Celebration cruise ship. There was a slight hitch with our account being blocked a few days in when we went to order drinks although we were all inclusive, however this was quickly resolved and staff were very apologetic. The activities and entertainment on the ship was plentiful, however we tended to only stick to Hemingways and the Lounge for the shows in the evenings, some which were good and others according to taste. Horizon's was a relaxed atmosphere whereas Liberties was more party like. We were a regular visitor for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and late night snacks to Lido that was open until 1pm - so we quickly go too know a lot of the staff and fellow passengers. Plenty of food and drink choices hot and cold. We booked 2 excursions via the excursion team ( One for the BVI as on our first visit, due to the hurricane it was fairly quiet, however on our second visit it seemed to be a little busier, hopefully with more visitors the economy will be back to normal) and the rest we booked as and when we got off the ship depending on what we wanted to do. I was particularly amazed by the following staff members on the ship who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and enjoy our time. Starlin ( Deck steward) always greeted us with the warmest of smiles and professionalism either on the deck or in Mistral's restaurant. Silvio, the Lido buffet manager always ensured he took some time out to speak to us even at the most busiest of times. Edward, would always ensure we had something to drink wherever we were on the ship. Igor was impeccable in his service and directions to the assistant to ensure we had the best dining experience in Mistrals. Gusti, the housekeeper amazed us every time to return to an immaculate clean and tidy room at least 2 to 3 times a day. The Captain (John) himself was friendly whenever he spoke to us, possibly recognising us due to almost being late once to board the ship Read Less
