The cruise was affordable for our party of ten especially we booked at the last minute. My party and I went on a 4 day cruise to Cozumel Mexico on the Carnival Valor; this is my third time cruising with Carnival cruise line and first time on the Valor. Other than the Cruise Director, Kevin, my family and I didn't have a good time and I didn't like the ship. The Valor seemed small, congested and cluttered and it could use some updates especially in the sports area, which was small and dated; also, they could use some new loungers because a lot were stained and need to be replaced. My party included kids, teens and young adults, and I found that there wasn't a lot of activities for the teens and kids. The pool area was crowded the majority of the time as well as the sports area, and the sports area closed at 5 pm everyday, "which didn't make much sense to me," so my kids really didn't do much. Some of the food was okay, especially the burgers from Guy's that was a hit for those that like burgers, but the other selection of food could have been better. The cabins were a decent size and considering that there was so many people on the ship the washrooms throughout the ship were kept clean so that was a positive. My only complaint with the cabin is one wasn't ready when we arrived. There were dirty linen left in the room and they didn't have the beds set up for the four individuals staying in the room. The bars stayed busy throughout the day, and a lot of time we had to wait a long time to be served. I wasn't crazy about the entertainment: the comedian we saw our first night there was not funny so we ended up leaving, I didn't enjoy the singers they didn't make it exciting and everything else just seemed boring. We planned for this trip for two months, but everyone was disappointment on the cruise and couldn't wait to go home. Read Less

We chose the Dream because we enjoyed sailing on her out of New Orleans and got a casino offer at a pretty good rate out of Galveston which is where we live. Embarkation was simple and quick. It was really nice that the muster was indoors since it was mid August. Our stateroom was on Lido forward. This meant a lot of walking (I had a knee injury and had to use a cane), but we chose this stateroom so that's on us. The room was clean and tidy, but we didn't see much of our steward. Room was cleaned once per day during dinner hour. This is a far cry from the service Carnival provided in the past, though it's no fault of the steward. He did his best. Smoking areas on 5 and 11 received no bar service. They were very small areas with no access to pool nor whirlpools. Smokers were confined to the very small areas and not allowed to use sun loungers. Deck 5 smoking area was blocked off about half the cruise. Deck 11 smoking was right behind the stack and black oil spots were all over our clothes. Casino area was of course full of smokers. Where else could they go? Carnival makes a good bit of money off of smokers. STOP TREATING THEM LIKE TRASH!! One other thing about the casino...there was a drawing held one night and we were to receive an entry for every 100 points we had. We each had around 1300 points. We realized as we watched the names roll around on the screen that neither of our names were there. That didn't give us a very good feeling. Steakhouse. What happened here? This used to be a very nice experience with yummy food and beautiful composed plates. Now you get a piece of meat and roasted tomato dropped on your plate. Why this change??? Terrible. Raise the price if you need to, but don't just ruin it by destroying the ambience! Main dining Food mediocre as usual, but the service was impeccable. Yaco and his assistants were awesome. Yaco served drinks at the back pool on shore days and was the only server to come up to no man's land (smoking area). Thanks Yaco! Crew They were as awesome as they could be. They are overworked and treated like crap by many cruisers. We always treat them well, enjoy talking with them and tip extra. They are the only really enjoyable part of this cruise. Entertainment Violinists were good. Otherwise really lacking. I know you can get better entertainment. Finally We've all seen the carnival experience go downhill over the years. I understand keeping costs down to allow more people the opportunity to cruise. I've never cuised another line so have nothing to compare it to. I've always loved the cruising experience til now. It was the first time I've wanted to go home from a cruise. If you smoke, be warned you'll be treated by the cruise line as a lower class citizen. I won't say that I'll never cruise again, but right now I sure don't want to. Sad. Read Less

So many problems with this cruise most related to the cabin. We were accommodating at first even with the carpet being wet and blowers running to dry it out upon arrival....not exactly a great first impression. Had we only known that was only the beginning of the problems with this stateroom. Anyone considering cruising on the Carnival Vista should be aware this ship has multiple problems associated with the spa so if that's one of the "features" that attracted you to this cruise you will be well beyond disappointed. Along with the sky ride being broken the entire trip, the aroma therapy room also being broken the entire trip body sprayers in Cloud nine were also inoperable. The food and entertainment were great but if you value your sleep, rest and relaxation DO NOT book anything remotely close to cabin 11236. I'm currently awaiting to debark tomorrow and that will truly be the highlight of this trip. See cabin review below Read Less

The main attraction for choosing Vista was the sky ride. This ship went out of a service for almost 2 weeks to fix the propulsion issue, why did they not service the sky ride(first problem)? There were 5 adults and 4 young adults (17-21) only 1 liked Vista. This was cruise number six for 4 of us with Carnival. Embarkation and disembarkation went well, cabin(great), service(great). The second problem we en counted was no air conditioning as soon as we stepped unto the ship. It felt like outside. There were fans on the floor all the way to the lobby. The elevator ride to the 10th floor was no better. The 10th floor lobby and the cabin had air conditioning. The cabin did not cool as well as other ships (Breeze,Magic,Freedom) the thermostat has no digital readout, only red bars for heat and blue bars for cold. The third problem was the minimal air conditioning in the buffet(Lido). The middle was ok, but on either end near the pools you could fell the heat. The fourth problem was the temperature of the food in the buffet, it was always too low and the choices of food could have been better. Thank goodness for Guy's Burger Joint!! This ship also lost power while we were away our 3 rd excursion trapping my elderly in-laws in the elevator. They had to walk 2 flight of stairs to their room. For the amount of money spent on this ship it should not be having these problems on a continuous basis. It's like this ship was built with no plans or means to fix something if it breaks. We always hate to leave the ship on the final day but we were happy to leave today. We are also planning another Carnival cruise next year but not on Vista. Read Less

Ship itself: Very clean, some reviews I read said that it was dirty but this was definitely not the case. It can be a little confusing the first day finding your way around the ship. Our cabin was at the back of the ship but our dining room was at the very front of the ship in the Lincoln Dining Room. My best advice to get across the boat is to go down to floor 2 where you can walk all the way down either side of the boat without any doors or barriers. Cabin: I went with my girlfriend and 2 other friends. King size bed and two bunk beds. Obviously it is a little close quarters but we didn't care because we barely spent any time in the room. Shower pressure is surprisingly strong. The water can be SCALDING hot so be careful getting in. Tv in the room with very basic channels. I liked the channels that just showed cameras on the ship. Dining: It is so awesome to order 5 appetizers just for the hell of it. There is a $10 corkage fee to bring a bottle of wine at dinner which we did each night. We were at the Lincoln dining room. Every dinner was great BESIDES the Elegant Dinner. That one was just a mess. It took 30 minutes for a server to even get our drinks. But I kinda understand because EVERYONE went to dinner that night. We had the anytime dining which I strongly recommend. I wish there was more stuff open after 9 PM. It's pretty much just Pizza or room service. Guy's burger joint is amazing. The American Deli had some good sandwiches. Room service is free until 10 PM from a select menu. Cheers Program: Highlight of the trip for sure. My friends and I were drunk the whole time. 15 drinks a day which sounds hard but I capped out each night. The rum drinks have at least 2 shots in them which is great. Each day there is a daily special drink at the bar and its a mixture of lots of alcohol and fruity drinks basically. The drink servers are awesome. Dede from Indonesia was my hero. He would find us all over the ship at shows. He was the absolute best. I already miss him. Entertainment: Loved the casino, nightclub, comedy shows, karaoke, game shows, trivia, all of that. The main performance shows every night in the Ivanhoe Theater are honestly terrible. Kevin the cruise director is great but there's a group of eight 25-30 year olds who have a dancing and singing routine each night and it is very boring and cringe worthy. Skip this if you can. We went the first night and did not go back. I want to mention the casino again. SO much fun at noon and 3 AM it doesn't matter the time. Blackjack tables are rowdy. Excursions: I've been to Cozumel before. This time our group stayed on the boat and just drank by the pool. So relaxing. Absolutely nobody is on the boat during that time so no lines for food or at the bar. Plenty of pool seats. Embarkation and Debarkation was so smooth. Debarkation advice is if you are not walking out by 7:30, you might as well stay on the boat until 10am. from 8-10 it is just a massive heard of cattle leaving the ship and it can get pretty hot from that many people close together. Stay up on the pool deck and take some last pictures and then around 10 you can leave and there will be no line. If you need guest services, just call the number from your room phone because that line can be extremely long. I think that's about it. PLEASE Don't lose your sail and sign card. There is no need to have any credit card or anything on you. Keep cash for tips and your sail and sign card and that is all you need. All things considered a super fun vacation that is considerably cheap. Read Less

9 out of 10 hand sanitizers are empty. Cabin is HOT! I have 2 fans that I brought on board and wouldn’t have made it without them. The two cabins next to mine received room credits because their rooms were so hot. Food: it is without a doubt the worst food ever. I’m you like bland carbs that taste less me cardboard then this cruise is for you. Only decent food is Guys Burgers. Nightly dining room meals are horrible. Food arrives cold and has no taste. Even the fried Shrimp was bad! Breakfast is no different.cold pancakes, waffles and lets not forget the hair in the hash brown! If you are planning on gambling know that the casino is full of smokers! It’s horrible just having to pass by it. This is not my first cruise. This is a 7 day cruise and when compared to Princess cruise that I was in for the same amount of time, there’s nothing in common other than they are both floating in water. I’ve been told that Princess and Carnival are owned by the same company and it’s very hard to believe. This Carnival cruise has been like a cruise for the poverty stricken compared to the Princess Cruise that was definitely and huge step up. Oh and let me not forget to mention the sewer smell! It’s terrible! Our cabin is on the second floor and the smell has continually been present in the hallway. They were busy trying to clean wet carpet which that I suspect was toilet overflow! My suggestion is save yourself the money and try a different vacation. Read Less

Chose cruise on horizon for family of 5. Day before cruise, get an email from carnival sky ride is closed....... of course my kids really wanted to do that. Ship was new and spotless, crew members and director was also amazing. Food was absolutely horrible and I really miss the ability to create your own salad from the salad bar (buffet) like on the dream. Guys burger joint went from being good to just okay. Dining room food horrible and if you wanted an edible steak, it costs $20 extra. Flat iron steak sucks! Made reservations in MAY, and had a confirmation email in writing from bonsai teppanyaki and when we showed up for our reservation, there was no record, nor did we have any place to eat that night......... email or not....... screw you.......lord forbid we were going to eat the rancid left overs in the buffet!!!!!! Pizza and ice cream were good. Guys pig and anchor, was good when it was free for lunch.....would NOT pay for it. Seafood shack had good fish and chips for $6......we were so hungry we were desperate for decent food. Any questions please ask. I personally felt nickel and dimed to death, and would not sail on this class of ship again. Read Less

Elevator system on the Horizon was HORRIABLE. We took the stairs most of our cruise. They also need to have a separate elevator for the handicap and scooters. my mother had to spend most of her time in the room because of the lack of working elevators on the ship. Our stateroom was only cleaned once day after asking for twice a day am/pm. Food was not that great. Mike the cruise director was excellent he made the ship experience a little better. Also they need to start breakfast at 6am instead of 7:30 some folks get up early. Guest services employees need to be a little more friendly to there guest and not have attitudes. I have cruised on Carnival several times this was the worst. I do plan on crusing again on carnival to give them another chance and if no improvement I will be going on another ship.. Read Less

Stayed in 7458 which is an aft-facing Havana balcony. This ship is so immense, having access to the Havana-guests only pool deck was a vacation-saver. Lido pools were constantly jammed, but most I ever counted in the Havana pool was 14 one sea day. Some different shows on the Horizon which is a nice change of pace from the repeats in the rest of the fleet. However, the volume is ear-splitting. I complained a few times to no avail. One Liquid Lounge manager said they check the decibels every night. That may be true, but they are setting the volume way to high. You can't even understand the lyrics from the singers. It was so bad, my ears are still ringing three days after our cruise ended. Our itinerary was the 6-day from Miami with stops in Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Ocho Rios is kind of dumpy. We did not do an excursion but wandered over the Margaritaville (which is just as lame as all the other locations). Touts descended on us nonstop, with some even calling to us through the fence in the port area. We stepped onto our balcony during docking and it already reeked of ganja. Our Cozumel excursion was canceled due to lack of interest: Elite Champagne Sail & Snorkel. Kind of surprising as there were three Carnival vessels in port that day. Pretty much stayed in the Havana area. Lido deck was jam packed with blasting music from a DJ, and a bunch of idiots who brought their own speakers. The cacophony was too much to handle. Elevators work fine if you use them correctly (press button once for each member of your party). Problem was that people in general are morons, and would just press the button once or just ask if a car was going up or down and jump on without pressing a button. Smart elevators, dumb people. Some crew was great. especially Havana and Alchemy bar staff. Atrium bar staff was efficient but not at all friendly. Piano bar player Dara was excellent, but you had to tolerate her playing her own stuff and constantly reminding people to tip her (which I don't blame her for, because the hayseed crowd seemed to not understand the concept of how a piano bar works). We chose this ship because it was going to Roatan, our favorite port stop. This was our 7th cruise and 2nd trip on the Breeze. The ship itself is starting to show her age. While we traveled on it they were touching up paint (much needed), and replacing the outdoor tv (missing many pixels). The staff and service onboard was excellent; enjoyed chatting with many of the crew. The ship is lacking allot of entertainment if you have teenagers with you. There were some sporting tournaments; however, they were geared towards adults only. At night you’d see hordes of teens with security not far behind. The buffet was lack luster- same thing for breakfast every morning, and no hash browns at all. The blur iguana is always an excellent choice for lunch and or breakfast. The pizza did not disappoint as I believe they have the best tasting out of any line. The embarkation process was very smooth; however, disembarkation was very poor and slow, compared to other lines we’ve been on. Read Less

We booked the cruise for end of summer, we had to stand in line at guest services 4 times the first day, because our cards wouldn't work for purchases or as our room keys! So our first day we stood in line at guest services for over 1.5 hours trying to get keys to work. At supper we were on anytime dining, so we went to dinner in dining room, we were greeted and seated. After 20 minutes, I asked a waiter, who would be taking care of our table? He immediately said I will send someone over shortly. If anytime dining is a problem for the staff, then do away with it! We didn't ask for anytime dining, that's what we were given. If carnival wants the vista to be there flagship, they missed the bar!! They have tried to include everything and left out the basics. An example of this, the casino is on the fourth floor, and there is not a mens restroom. The casino dealer told me the restroom was on 3rd level for the men. Makes no sense. If you have a womens restroom go ahead and spend the money for a mens restroom too. Again Thursday evening we are standing in line at guest services, card is not working again. They have our credit card on file, all charges are to go to the credit card, and guest services said our card is inactive, but she didn't know why? Guest services reactivated our card, and now we can make purchases again. Guest services has been a nightmare!! Supper on Thursday night, I ordered lobster tail which was an additional $20, the waiter brought me 2 lobster tails, I cut into the first one and took a bite. It was like a rubber band, overcooked!! I informed the waiter that it was not good, he kindly took it away, and explained that I would not be charged the $20 for the lobster. I thanked him for not charging me. Generally the table is cleared and then dessert menus are brought, not tonight! My wife was still eating her supper, and here comes the dessert menu. I know this was because I returned the overcooked lobster. Highlight of the cruise for us was the comedy show on Thursday evening and Mr. Sanchos at cozumel. Mr sanchos is not a carnivasl excursion, but is worth every penny. JiJi Chinese restaurant is a great place to eat! Cost like 15 per person, but you get way more food, than you can eat. Unfortunately, we have already booked the vista for December. Hopefully we will have a better experience in December. Read Less

What went well... 1. We loved the breakfast in the Horizon Restaurant. It was always hot and good variety from skillet pancakes, to french toast to scrambles and much more. We only ate at Lido deck one time for breakfast. 2. The pasta bar at Cucina was Excellent. 3. The servers in the Lido area, main dining room, etc. were phenomenal...always checking to see if you needed anything. Our stateroom steward Ron was excellent, very nice and genuinely asked how our day was going and remembered our names. We were in Room 7451. 4. The shows were GREAT in the Liquid Lounge and we loved the Havana Bar area with live Latin music. This area was open to the public after 7pm for whirlpool, etc. The violinists were great in the main lobby area. 5. We went as a couple with no kids and really liked the Serenity Adults only area on the 15th deck. 6. Embarkation and debarkation was super smooth and the best we've experienced. 7. Kyndall Fire the cruise director was very engaging and hilarious. 8. Pictures are all digital on the ship instead of the huge wall of paper pics that take forever to find. You can also see pictures on your TV in your room, and your balance. 9. Our aft ship state room was very nice and cozy. 10. We loved Roatan and Belize ports of call. We didn't get off the ship in Cozumel - we'd already been there 3-4 times. So we made it a lazy day. 11. Guys Burger Joint...yum.....Lido Deck was OK......nothing spectacular. Main Dining Room food was pretty good overall. 12. We met so many nice people and fellow cruisers and people were genuinely nice to each other..not all, but most. 13. Ship layout can be very confusing but you'll find your way. 14. Comedy shows were hilarious - we had Caroline Picard, Billy D. Washington, William Lee Martin and Dan Chopin and we went to the 18+ shows. Too funny! What was tricky.... 1. Lots of walking the stairs from slow or full elevators. 2. The 24 hour pizza would get crowded fast after dinner was over. They make it fresh so if the line is long, be patient because it's quite yummy. 2. Too many kids in the whirlpools and main pools. It was kinda ridiculous that kids are everywhere..........OMG. We didn't bother to do any main pools just the Serenity adults only whirlpools. 3. The view in the Main show area was bad in some areas due to polls all over the place. Get there early for a good seat but shows were AWESOME> 4. The smoke in the casino was terrible. We had to walk through it to get to the comedy show area and my clothes smelled like smoke. Beware! 5. Elevators were hot most of the time. Be warned. 6. The spa seminar we went to on accupuncture was not a seminar - they asked us to come back at 4:30 and we spoke to DR. Vu who couldn't answer our questions about fertility and asked how do you spell ovary and follicle. WOW. We signed up for a manicure since we got a $50 gift card but we got there and we were asked to come back since they were 'backed up' and were told there was a $7 tip. We just cancelled. What needs improvement.... 1. Carnival needs to be more strict and enforce the 'no reserving seats' policy, especially in the Comedy Club. One girl tried to reserve 10 seats for her family when the doors opened and she was telling people these are taken.....and it was happening during the whole cruise. All people need to do is come together as a group...simple as that. 2. Too many kids............I repeat, too many kids.........some of them ran and stomped at 12am and would push all buttons on the elevator for fun. Our next cruise will be in fall when there behinds are in school. 3. Blue Iguanna was disappointing because they served stale taco shells on one of the days. I didn't go back after that. 4. Not sure if Carnival can monitor this but in Belize, we did the Calypso Train Tour and it was $42 but we got it for $39 after Carnival guest services said it was sold out. The guys in port were selling for $25 but we found out they didn't take people to the train at all but to some non A/C van that almost ran out of gas. Read Less

This review is for the Carnival cruise ship The Dream. The staff were super nice but could not understand or speak english very well. The ship was begining to show its age and had several rust spots on the balcony . But the worst part was the unkept look of the entire ship. All of the windows were dirty and had streaks of dirt that looked as if it had been there a while. The carpets in the hallways were stained and looked in need of replacement. The balcony sateroom that we were assigned to was 2 doors down from the exit hall. A large family made it a meeting point every day at least 3 times a day. They would yell up and down the hall for their other family members and scream and yell at their children as they disciplined them. This happened several times a day. Right after we embarked our steward stopped at our door to deliver complimentary water bottles. She knocked and banged on the door and stated that she had complintary water to which I replied not now. She then used her pass key to let her self in. Imagine my surprise when the door opened and I was standing there with no clothes on and my husband was in the bathroom. There seemed to be a lot of confusion in the dinning room also, as most of the crew did not understand or speak English very well. However, our main waiter Walter did his best to try and smooth things over. The Food....The Mahi Mahi was over cooked and was replaced with Salmon that was undercooked. While the food was very well presented it lacked a lot in taste. The overall cleanliness of things was discorning. There was often drinks and ice spilled in the elevators and crew members that were looking the other way at the girls as they were cleaning the plexiglass of the stairs. Overall we were very disapointed in our cruise. We were a repeat customer but have decided that next time we will choose a different ship and propably choose a different cruise line. Read Less

He cared for everyone there, made conversations, and always made sure nobody was doing anything bad. I’m going to miss circle c only bc he was so great. In all the experience was memorable. Today was the last day and I am home but i really miss it already. I forgot to mention but the customer service was also awesome too. So as the Arcade which was a blast, bingo, and the pools as well. I know i’ve said this many times before but i really really really love this cruise and i recommend to use it. In all I had a awesome time and really hope to come visit again sometime. Read Less

This message is to warn anyone planning on having a Carnival cruise wedding to NOT DO IT! If it weren’t for my family and friends the entire memory would be a disaster! I planned a carnival cruise wedding on the sensation on July 30,2019. Upon deciding that I would have the wedding with Carnival I submitted all my documents necessary so that the wedding planner on board would be informed of all the details I requested. I paid for the Carnival Classic Platinum package. I had 12 cabins booked full of guests in addition to the suite I paid for. Upon arriving on the ship July 29th, I was told that I’d meet with my wedding planner Victoria right away.. that didn’t happen. I sought her out for the first hour that I arrived and she was not available. She finally reached out to me to let me know that we would meet later in the evening to discuss the wedding details. We met and she seemed friendly, I told her that I wanted to start the ceremony with a bible reading from my brother and proceed with the wedding by the captain. She agreed. I paid for a DJ and requested a blend of music. She agreed. I was told everything would be punctual and you can imagine it wasn’t. The day of the wedding comes and it was set to begin at 2pm. I waited outside the lounge for 20 minutes because the LOUNGE WAS NOT SET UP by her nor the staff responsible. (I have the entire wedding recorded with time stamps in case anyone on Carnival wants to fight me on this). The ceremony begins .. guess what? My brother isn’t able to start the ceremony with the Bible reading. There was no order after the ceremony ended and I walked out, the wedding planner asked if I wanted my brother to do the reading. I said yes so I walk back down the aisle and then leave. Already chaotic and awkward but I deal with it. I was told to stand outside to be reintroduced.. the bar should have been opened for my guests by 2:30 being that I paid for a full hour of open bar. It was 3 pm I was waiting outside to be introduced and the bartender with the most disgusting attitude refused to serve my guests drinks. I also had “specialty” drinks that came with the package she also refused to make them. Her attitude was horrible and mortifying. Again, I didn’t want to ruin my moment so I just rolled with the punches. During the reception we had the cake cutting ceremony. The staff serving us did not provide my guests with cake! They had to cut pieces for themselves!! We also had leftover cake from the reception, my wedding planner said they would deliver the leftovers to my cabin.. I never received that either. The DJ, that I paid extra for played nothing of a mix I requested. Possibly a total of 3 songs at a low volume nonetheless. Although they ran late, they did not hesitate to end the reception at 3:30 on the dot. To the point that I requested one last drink and the bartender slammed the door in my face. I wish I knew her name because I truly would personally send her a note of what a horrible person she is. So I lost out on time at my reception for not being introduced until 3 and can’t even get an extra drink although we were robbed of 30 minutes.. nice right? An experience you paid for! At the end of the reception I left to take pictures. My cousin who was helpful throughout the wedding planning and brought souvenirs and extra decor told me that The wedding planner also was nasty and demanded that She clear everything off the table and tell all the guest to leave. She said these words" you need to get everything off this table and clear out your guest out of this room right now". I’m beyond distraught with the treatment of carnival and its staff they ruined a moment and day I’ll never get back. Not to mention spending $10,000. I paid for a service and expected to receive instead got treated as an inconvenience. In addition, no one on the ship is willing to accommodate your complaints or even care to hear you out. Carnival should be embarrassed at their service or lack their of. Read Less

Platinum cruisers. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and cruise length. Embarkation in Miami was the best we have ever experienced in Miami. Parking garage could use a bit of TLC but overall the experience was good. Arrived at 10:50am and we were on the ship at 11:00am. Cabin was ready so we were able to drop off some carry on items and go to explore the ship. Cabin was a bit small for a balcony. No couch just a chair. Ship is older but overall in very good condition. Lido buffet never seemed over crowded in lines. Most lines were for pizza and the deli. Main dining room dinner service was good...not exceptional. Food in dining room was okay. As was our experience on our last Carnival cruise. Just not feeling the dining room dinner cuisine. Guys Burgers, and the Cantina were great as always. Bar service was quicker to go up to the bar rather than wait for wait service on pool deck, which is fine. Only visited Alchemy Bar one time on this cruise. Entertainment in the main lounge was very good. The shows were good, and the the performers were good. Deon the Cruise Director was always around and did a great job. Our excursions were great and I will review separately. Sea Day Brunch was not as good as previously. Dining Room breakfast was okay...had the avocado toast. We self assisted leaving the ship for the first time and all went very well. Overall this was a great cruise. Read Less

We had a blast and enjoyed everything. Can’t want to go again! We really enjoyed the theater every night. Kevin was our cruise director and he was so good and funny. The food was awesome. I have nothing bad to say! There is always something to do. Between the movies on deck 9 and the theater. Also there is a lot for the kids to do. Getting on the ship wasn’t a problem. We boarded at 12 and was actually on the boat at 11:30. They got us check in early. Cause we were there early. It was so peaceful. You never feel the boat move unless the wind at night is a little strong. But still it was lovely and run! I’m actually planning another one. Both my bartender at the red frog and the casino knew what i wanted to drink and i never had to remind them. They were awesome and sweet. Would call you by name and even set and talk with you for a while, when they could. Read Less

We had been on this same cruise route before but w a different ship. This cruise w the Carnival Miracle just felt way too crowded compared to the two other cruises that we have had. The layout and the flow of people was way too congested especially around the Buffett and the pool area & to see any shows you had to get there at least 30 min early. When we started out from Tampa to Cayman Islands there was horrible shaking vibrations that lasted almost all night. It was so bad that my granddaughter who is 11 got sick and had to come down to our room to sleep because our room was not as bad as theirs. They were in the room 8238 & we were in 7186. Our room did vibrate, but not as bad as theirs . They also had toilet problems with the toilet overflowing and continuously flushing late at night and no one would answer the phone and They had to go look for someone to help them. The carpet was soaked & water running out into the hall and nobody did anything until the next day to suck up all the water. All of their towels were wet and they did not get any replacements until room was cleaned the next day. Then they finally put a fan on it. Another disappointment was the Deli, On The other two cruises the deli was fabulous. This one was so slow the line was so long and the bread was all dried out and sandwiches were Not hot, the cheese was not even melted even though grilled. The good thing was that our Cabin was clean and was always in good shape. We did not get the early dinner time that we requested so we had to go to dining in a time, but we got really lucky and got a terrific waitress name From Romania. She was one of the hardest working waitresses we have ever had. We did not get the early dinner time that we requested even though we had kids with us, so we had to go to dining any a time, but we got really lucky and got a terrific waitress name Lydia from Romania. She was one of the hardest working & sweetest server-waitress7186 we have ever had on any of the ships. We love cruising but Thank Goodness this was not our first cruise or we would have never cruised again! Also on the last day they tell people to go to the Phantom theater on the third floor. When we got there there at 7:30 for the early flights, There was no one there to help anyone and people were going to the second floor fan in theater and also the third. There was a gentleman that works there that was so hateful to us and told us why would we go into a closed door room and was so hostile about it, I tried to tell him that this is where they told us to go. ( there was probably about six couples waiting also ) he was so hostile to us, We had never been spoken to like that from anybody on the cruise and I was so shocked that I told him that he was not going to ruin my last day of my cruise . Okay this is my second cruise. My first was 10 years ago on the Carnival Ecstasy. I booked this cruise 2 weeks out mostly because I wanted to experience a Fantasy class ship again and it was a port that you can drive to from Kansas. Yes this ship is old and yes she does show some signs of age but she is still a great value for the price and a good looking old ship. I stayed in cabin R3 its a porthole room on the bottom passenger deck. It was a great room! Super big and the portholes offered good light and the same price as an interior. My Steward Budi was awesome. He serviced my room twice a day as I asked and also made sure I always had ice. The food on the ship was great! Everything I ordered in the MDR was cooked how I liked and tasted very good. Service was slow at times but for the most part it was a very good experience. Lines for things like Guys and Blue Iguana were always manageable and not to long. The shows on the ship were very good. Motor City was the best of the shows but all were good. The playlist staff does a really awesome job. The comedy club had some great guys in the there and were very funny and interactive with the crowd. Read Less

Where do I start? The food was AWFUL. We paid extra for the steakhouse the last 2 nights just to get a tasty meal. The food was bland and tasteless. The food service was great, but the food was terrible. The pools are completely crowded and the buffets have monster lines and are completely full. 4500 people is too many people for that amount of square footage. The only time I felt comfortable was when everyone else got off the boat. Then we got to enjoy the water slide and pool. Make sure you have swim shoes for the kiddos if they are going to do water slides as the floor is crazy hot. If you hate crowds this is not for you. To get off the boat we ate breakfast at 8:30 (the latest we could sit down) and 3 hours later we got off the boat. Then to make things worse they started loading passengers for the next cruise before we got off. The shows were enjoyable and the staff were great, but overall for a first time cruiser I was not impressed. I will do an all inclusive in Mexico before taking another cruise. Read Less

We booked this cruise on the Carnival Vista for several reasons: 1) We wanted a 7-day cruise out of Galveston, 2) we enjoyed the cove balcony on the Breeze so much last year we wanted that again, and 3) we wanted to see Grand Cayman instead of Roatan or Belize like last year. Embarkation went pretty well. We had a 1pm appointment and by the time I got back from parking the car it was just after 1. The boarding area was busy but things moved along and we only had to wait a few minutes to get to our cabin at 1:30. We dropped out carry-ons and headed for a pasta lunch on Deck 11 which was very good. After lunch, we met our room steward and asked for evening cabin service. After dinner, we went to Red Frog and decided to order a couple of beer samplers - Cheers wouldn't be activated until the morning after departure. It seemed like from the menu that we could pick any four beers to sample, but apparently it's a fixed set. Neither of us like IPAs but figured as a sample it'd be ok. However, after we put in our order at the table it seemed like our waiter disappeared. The place wasn't that busy, and it was a simple order, but my wife had to hunt down the bartender to get our order. Not a great start. We had your time dining in the MDR. The waiters on our first two evenings were lackluster and service seemed a bit slower than on the Breeze. The food was a bit off in quality also. Later in the week we found a wait staff we liked (head waiter Muliawan) and ate in his area the rest of the week. Muliawan kept us well supplied with bottled water and drinks for our meals and was very engaging with us and the other tables in his area. Sea Day Brunch - I prefer the old menu and not the new one. However, the 12-hour French toast was good. Bacon was also good, and sausage seemed better than last year. Port day breakfast - Waffles were bland and seemed like they had been made well in advance. Pasta and Asian lunch - Both very good. Guy's Burgers - Good and the line always moved faster than I thought it would Pig and Anchor - Not bad, except the brisket was always dried out. Sausage was the best, pork butt good, chicken just OK. Good coleslaw. Shake Spot - Had a regular and a spiked one here. Very good, probably will pay for at least one next time if I don't get Cheers again. Wife and son said steak and miso soup at the sushi bar was excellent and well worth the money. Lido buffet - Only ate the occasional snack or dessert here. Always way too crowded. It was nice they put cereal off to the side so you could get it without a line. Room service breakfast - Forgot one item which they brought about 10 min later. Breakfast sandwich was awful - I had two bites and couldn't finish it. Biscuit was dry and stale. Drinks - Wife and I decided that they had skimpy amounts of alcohol. I walked out of the MDR twice with my fourth glass of wine in under 90 minutes and had a two-glass buzz. I really wonder if Carnival arranges for "special" beer/wine/liquor to be used for their drinks that is underpowered. Generally good bar service from most. Piano 88 - I don't like the new setup. On the Breeze, you could drop by for a couple of songs, or find a seat depending on how long you wanted to stay. With an enclosed room, it's more of a hassle to come in late or leave early. Our piano player was a bit antagonistic towards the crowd, which put them off of singing along, which also didn't help the atmosphere. Limelight Lounge - some idiot on the Carnival design team approved having eight 3-foot pillars in the middle of the lounge. I'd say maybe 30% of the seats had an unblocked view of the stage. Carnival's half-***ed solution was to put two 60" monitors on either side of the stage. I could watch comedy shows on Netflix in the cabin if I wanted to see comics on TV. Saw 18+ shows from two comics - one was a B, the other a C-. Sky Ride - Busted on the third day, down the rest of the cruise. Probably same design team as for the Limelight. Slides - These were pretty good. We stayed on the ship in Jamaica and no lines at all in the early afternoon. IMAX - Saw "Spider-Man: Far from Home" here at a later showing. About 30 in the theater. Good IMAX experience but not sure it was worth filling in the atrium. Internet - Had the middle tier plan which we shared on our devices. Worked well almost everywhere on the ship. Good speeds for email and Twitter - this was an improvement over the Breeze where the speed was barely enough to support text emails. HUB app - Also worked better than on the Breeze last year. Not sure if it was because of better wifi or an improved app. Promenade (and public spaces in general) - It really sucked that the Havana area blocks the deck aft. Also, there is more "stuff" on Vista's promenade and I think more panels to block the wind. I enjoyed taking a couple laps on the Breeze's promenade in the evening or at night, but it was not at all enjoyable on the Vista. The Vista just seemed more crowded in general. Atrium - The Breeze's glass atrium elevators and full-height atrium gave it a very open feel like a high-rise hotel. The Vista's truncated atrium with the pixelated funnel was not a good substitute. Tenders in Grand Cayman worked very well, only short waits on/off. Similarly quick to walk on/off in Cozumel, but both directions we were not with the big crowds. Debarkation was OK. Once our number was called (14), we kept moving along for the most part. Our checked baggage was waiting for us inside. We were through Customs by 10:30 and on the road by 11. Read Less

Short weekend cruise. Taking my grandson for his first cruise. This was our 5th cruise with Carnival. We have always talked highly of Carnival and enjoy the diversity of age on most of their ships. This ship felt overly crowded. Almost impossible to get to the buffet. Even harder to find a chair by the pool and forget getting in the 1 pool they have available on the ship. The room steward for the 1st time ever told us that things have changed on carnival and we can have our room cleaned in the morning or evening but not both there are just not enough people to work. In the dining room we watched as the waiters and waitresses in the dining room walked back and forth empty handed and walked by our table 4-5 times not stopping once to pick up the dirty dishes. When asked one waitress walking by our table she said that wasnt her area and we would have to wait for someone else. Really not sure what is going on with this cruise ship but it does not come close to comparing to any of the other carnival cruises I have taken. Read Less

I was here for my sisters wedding. They press you to be on time and if your late they have an attitude but its okay for them to be late. Which they was late for everything. The wedding kept getting pushed back so even the bride and groom didn't know the time they was getting married. Then they set the time for 3:00 pm and the people didn't show up til 4. House keeping was no where to be found. The 1st night dude came by and dropped off his card and said for me to give him a call any time I needed something and he never answered the phone. I had to stand in the long line at customer service for them to call him just to get what I needed the whole cruise. Also the dinner staff was not friendly like I have experienced on other cruises. The staff is not very knowledgeable you can ask all of them the same question and they will give you different answers which is sad due to them being on the same boat for 6 months at a time! All their activities was closed most the time. My son is 13 and was looking forward to the teens club which only opened for 2 hours 1 day out of the 4 days we was on the ship. The basketball court didn't open til 12 am then of course it was adults. This was the worst ship I've ever been on. Then to top it off they charged me for a changed I didn't make! Read Less

I selected this cruise for me and my wife at the last minute for a quick vacation. Everything about it was good. Great staff, good balcony suite, good food and good fun. I did the upsell for better food in the MDR and also did the specialty restaurant one night so my food grade is higher because I paid extra for it. The comedy club was top notch and much funnier than I've seen on other cruises, but this has everything to do with the talent and nothing to do with the ship. My dessert in the specialty restaurant was a work of art and unlike anything I've ever experienced before, plus it was good too. My only issue was that the design of the Valor resulted in crowds and lines. I've been on larger ships with more passengers that were less crowded than this. Everywhere I went there was a line for either food, drink or entertainment. Read Less

They say that there's no such thing as a bad cruise. You're not at work. You're healthy and fortunate enough to afford such a luxury. But there are levels to these things. In case you don't want to read a novel here's the summary: Come with realistic expectations. There's a reason Disney and Virgin Voyages charge a premium. There's a reason Carnival doesn't, particularly on this ship. Walmart or worse quality of service in most areas. We had a great time but the deficiencies in operations, maintenance and staff were glaring. Bottom line- you get what you pay for. Overall I would have traded the balcony room on this ship/cruise and paid the same for interior on NCL or Royal and had a higher quality experience. The affordability of this cruise opens up cruising to a lot of folks, and that's wonderful. Unfortunately the bad experience may leave anyone with an actual option of who to cruise with to never willingly coming back. For some background we've sailed Carnival before and also, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and Disney. My wife and our 10-year-old daughter stayed in an AFT extended balcony room on the 7th deck and were on the 4 night Caribbean to Key West and Cozumel. We'll start with the positive and go downhill from there. The Best Hunter Deblanc at Piano Bar. Hands down, most entertained I've ever been. We're from Vegas. We have no shortage of fun places and entertaining things to do. Hunter was biggest highlight of this cruise. If I we were on the fence between two cruises in future and he were on one of them, I'd pick that one. He's that good. Not your mother's piano guy. At least not after 1030pm. Extra awesome was the fact that he was making extra sure that the server Suresh was being taken care of and treated well by patrons. Outstanding in every way. The Pretty Darn Good Gym. Overwhelmed. Clean. Well stocked and exceeded expectation. Sauna being free, albeit aged, was also a plus. Adult's only deck area was nice and enjoyable, when the slide line wasn't full of kids that is. Above Par- Oswi & Ace our servers on our next to last night were the only meal time service that was above par. They were excellent. Everyone else was Walmart or worse. These guys stood out like a sore thumb they were so good and attentive. More Oswi's and Ace's and this cruise is a different level. My wife had two treatments at the Spa and said both technicians were excellent, particularly the massage therapist The Ok- Food options. For the price, the options of food was good. Not necessarily the quality, but the options were better than expected. Mind boggling Who puts a small sushi car next to the bar in a smokey casino?! The freshest, cleanest food available (for a $ too) and you stick it in an ash tray? We would have gotten sushi if it were anywhere else on the ship. Terrible decision. Busy lunch time as port time ended in Key West and there's one person at the very popular Pizza Pirate. A line of 10-15 people, myself included waited for 15 minutes without the lone employee so much as saying a word. A simple "I'll be with you as soon as possible" would have done wonders. This is the Walmart level stuff that was evident throughout the ship. The Bad Balcony glass was filthy. Like nasty. Beautiful ocean view only to be ruined by being seen through nasty, grimy lenses. Total shame. Curtains had holes and various questionable stains. Coffee, maybe a little blood. Who knows but they were nasty and since we had a balcony we saw the dirty curtains every time we stepped in/out to look at the dirty glass... I mean nice view. The Worse In hindsight I wish I would have said something at the time. After boarding we were waiting in Camp Ocean for our daughter to check it out and some middle aged white corporate lady with a British accent was belittling a camp employee. She made a comment about Carnival being a multi million dollar company while criticizing the employee. First off, you're saying that to a person making very little money during 9 month tour. Secondly, I've never reprimanded a subordinate in public. Doing what she did in front of customers who could clearly hear was very unprofessional. Left me with bad taste in my mouth. Read Less
