I am a seasoned cruiser (40+) with diamond status on ccl.Being new the ship was in nice shape. Signage should be better in public areas, such as location of restrooms, beverage stations,&fore&aft. My interior cabin on deck8 was fine, however I still can not understand why they do not provide a chair that has a back on it. I did not attend any shows but the entertainment in the various bars was outstanding ,probably the all around best I have enjoyed on any ccl cruise. Food was average. Why cant they serve real orange juice at the buffet instead of orange cocktail? CCL has enough ships sailing from fl. you would think they would serve a real fl. product. I had been to the ports numerous times&only took a tour in st.kitts which was well worth it even though the windows on the van were too small.Embarkation was delayed by an hour due to the prior voyage having an unexplained late debarkation. My debarkation was fine&it seemed I passed thru customs in record time. The strongest asset of CCL has always been the friendliness of the staff & this staff met (already high )expectations. NOW FOR THE NEGATIVE.I do not take cruises to watch tv,but in the past we always had access to the major networks which would let me watch my NFL games in my room if I so chose.I love my beer&football but sitting in the sports bar from 1 till 11 is abit excessive. This also caused overcrowding in the bar because somany chairs were occupied by non drinkers CCL PLEASE FIX.Also there were many upset patrons who could not watch the SEC championship game.NO MORE CCL CRUISES FOR ME DURING FOOTBALL SEASON. I have been on many cruises but this was the first to Aruba. The price was down thanks to Hurricane Mathew . Just had a few gripes . Room 9380 is close to something that will wake you at 5:00 AM . That is not my time to get up. . After two nights the staff found me 7296 and a midnight move made things greater. Come on Carnival wear is the variety of food on the buffet. NCL has you beat by 10 times. I know I need to lose a few pounds , but variety is the spice that makes me come back. The ports were great with four new to me adventures. I did turn a few rocks but no Natalie. I travel solo , so lets have a solo group gathering each night . Where did the chocolates on the pillow go and charge me a dollar more , Charmins would be great in the end. Read Less

I must say, this was my first cruise and all around it was AMAZING. Everyday, every moment, every seconds I loved it. But what also made my 8 days at sea so wonderful is the amazing staff I came in contact with. First these to amazing people Francisco and Thal in house keeping, always remember there pleasant and genuine smile in the mornings and evening. I should know because I LOVE people and these two they have a very gentleness and pleasant spirit towards them. I pray a special blessing upon them and their family. They were very kind. Next in Pixels is Sinisa (Serbia). He is very pleasant and does an amazing job at what he does in Pixel. He complements a girl's picture when he is in it. Must I also say, he is GORGEOUS. Just a bonus and glad he was on this ship. Now a sets of amazing waiters, Adi, William (Colombia), Esther or queen Esther (India), Edi (Indonesia) and James ( St. Vincent).... These crew made my Church sisters and I laugh so hard and was a great pleasure having them as our waiters. They made dinner in the evenings exciting and with a lot of laughter. I do pray they keep that excitement in them because they help made my first cruise very exciting and a great experience. And to top is off, Mike the cruise director, HE WAS AWESOME and FUNNY. Whatever he does he makes it very exciting and gets the crowd involved in fun and excitment. From start to finish was amazing getting on the ship was all pure excitement for me but leaving I wasn't ready. I am sure there are plenty more wonderful people on board like the few I mentioned, but I must say GREAT STAFF you have Carnival Horizon. Thanks to you and your staff especially the ones I mentioned for making my first experience a memorable one. Read Less

This ship is pretty and because it is new, does not have the usual wear and tear. The dining choices are good (but you basically have to spend extra $ to get a decent dinner). Guys Pig has a good bbq lunch that is free. The bad: Havana: We paid significantly more for havana rooms in order to avoid crowds at the pool. But the Havana pool was actually more crowded. It was loud, packed and had no chairs. Not worth it. New elavators: Big swing and a miss here. They SUCK. They take longer, confuse the elderly. The screens used to select floors work poorly. Carnival needs to ditch this system. Beds: the “king” bed is two smaller beds pushed together. But the mattresses push apart, leaving a canton in the middle of the bed. Dining: The main dining room anytime system sucks. You have to check in on a screen far away from the dining room. It is chaos. Long lines, too crowded. Gym: the gym is WAY too small for a ship this size. Read Less

This is my third Carnival cruise and it was pretty average. The ship is big and it never felt overly crowded. Everything was new but nothing really wowed me. As far as staff goes, the cruise director was pretty personable, but could have been more interactive. We met some great crew members who really made our experience nice, especially the guys in Guy's Pig & Anchor. Some of the bartenders were really rude and half the drinks we got were watered down. We got the drink package, luckily, otherwise I would have been mad about buying some of the drinks we had. The people on the ship were probably the least friendly I've ever met. Then again, this is my first time sailing from New York, so I guess it's expected. You have the typical people who reserve loungers and cabanas with their towels for the whole day. I never really saw staff do anything about it. The Serenity area was so full of people when we visited, it didn't really feel serene. Entertainment was decent. The Quest was by far my favorite. It's a must do for adults who aren't so prude. The Celestial Strings show was also nice. The Welcome Aboard Show was mostly a waste of time. We went to the Thrill Theater for the Level 3 scary showing. It was so bad, we got a refund. Save yourself the time and money. The Sky Ride was pretty neat, and something you should try out. Make sure you bring your sneakers for it. The pools were tiny and I wouldn't even waste my time unless I had kids. And the spas were filled with mostly obese adults who stayed there for hours on end. Now for the food. I have to say the Steakhouse is the #1 MUST thing to do on the ship. Hands down, I had the best steak I ever had in my life. Everything was full of flavor. Well worth the $35. We also tried the Bonsai Teppanyaki. It was sub par hibachi. Nothing special. We tried Guy's Pig & Anchor for both the paid dinner and free lunch. The guys were fantastic. The food, not so much. I was most excited for this, as bbq is my favorite. The food had spice, but absolutely no flavor. I didn't know it was possible to make bland bbq, but apparently it is. Try it out for the free lunch, but definitely do not pay to eat here. Hopefully 5'2" (wink wink) Ian is your server, because he was hands down our favorite crew member. Guys Burger was our go-to lunch, and the pizza spot was good for late night. We ate in the main dining room twice for breakfast and once for dinner. We literally left in the middle of our dinner, because the food was horrible. I mean absolutely bland, cardboard tasting like food. I know it's hard to avoid that place, but you should try to. And then for Bermuda. Absolutely beautiful! We only had time to visit Horseshoe Bay. I'm not sure if this ship will visit here again, but you should if you ever get a chance. Embarkation/Disembarkation were pretty painless. Make sure you arrive during your appointment time, otherwise you'll wait in a longer line. And make sure you check your charges when you leave. They tried to charge us for four beach towels, when we returned them all. It happened to several other guests as well. Overall, I enjoyed my vacation, but it was below my expectations. If you get a good deal, I'd say it's worth giving it a try. Bon Voyage! Read Less

I always wanted to try the inaugural sailing. I chose Carnival Horizon over Symphony of the Seas due to the itinerary. It turned out to be an amazing cruise. I and my sister had a fantastic time. We loved a few of the Port of Calls such as Dubrovnik, Capri, Amalfi Coast, Taormina(Sicily) and Florence. The whole crew of the ship whether they were the cabin staffs, dining staffs or the other services staffs, whenever you encountered each of them, they were genuine friendly, courteous and helpful. Our cabin was kept immaculate by the room steward, Pedro and his crew. The dining staffs - Piotr and Katrina and another crew member I cannot recalled his name were kind and wonderful and provided such an impeccable services which kept us coming back every single night of the entire cruise. Due to their attentive services, we even forgo our Specialty dining. Food in the Fine Dining Restaurant were superb great. Entertainment director, Mike and his crew were great and entertainment were good. The whole ship were kept very clean at all time even with 4000 or more passengers onboard. I would definitely recommend this ship. Overall, it was excellent and amazing cruise with Carnival. The only downside was Barcelona, we encountered two groups of pickpocketers whom are very bold and aggressive. Read Less
