I love cruising, and when planning another group trip, going with Norweigen was a no brainer. You get the biggest bang for your buck! I was going with a large group of 21 with mixed ages from 16 to 83 and wheelchair bound. I have to say I was getting a little worried when I started reading recent reviews, but then I reminded myself to be open minded. I am a true believer that every vacation is what you make it! The embarkation was so easy and very efficient, this time they split the embarkation/ check in into two groups depending on cabin floor, which created shorter lines to get room key and then to get onto the ship. Ship: The ship was beautiful, with some areas that maybe can use some retouching, but thats to be expected with the amount of passengers that come through weekly. But I found it easy to navigate and plenty of signs to guide passengers. Don't get me wrong, it's a huge ship, so sometimes it gets confusing, but there is a diagram by the elevators that show each floor, especially for the dining rooms and bars. Cabin: Cabin was a balcony cabin midship, level 11. Loved my cabin it was clean and as roomy as you can expect for a ship cabin, you walk in the bathroom is right there, then the bed with a closet next to it, and then couch before the balcony door, on opposite side was a small vanity with small shelves, the mini bar and TV on wall. The closet has decent space for clothing, and what I did was use my suitcase as a draw and slid under bed. Our room steward Veeraj was awesome and very attentive. Dining: So, I was a little worried here because of all the reviews/ complaints about reservations and such. I am not sure what people complain about because I had NO trouble with obtaining reservations at ANY of the dining rooms. I made 3 reservations prior to boarding the ship, but the rest were made once on ship, and they never gave us an issue, and that is with a large party! Every restaurant was accommodating, my recommendation is that if you like to eat during prime time 7-730 make reservations early on, Personally I like eating early and the 5-545 reservations were perfect. The staff at all the restaurants were on point. Polite, and went out of their way to make our meals perfect. Moderno- Great salad bar and the meats were great quality, and not heavy on salt. the cheesy bread is amazing La Cucina - Way too much food,( I had meal plan, included 5 courses) the pizza is great to share with a few people. The pasta carbonara was divine. Cagneys- What can I say , my favorite meal, I had the surf and turf, and the filet was cooked perfectly. The apple crisp for desert was my favorite Taste/ Savor- ate at both restaurants and the food was good, smaller portions but filing. The deserts there were not my favorites. O'sheehans- So we decided to skip the buffet this trip and the majority of my group ate breakfast here every morning, The staff was exceptional, especially the maitre'D , Leandra. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and personally greeted us every morning. The younger adults in my group also raved about the late night snacks/ wings/ and . ice cream served there Margaritaville: Food was excellent and the charge was cheapt at $15 pp. The Nachos are delish. My one complaint about the dining, is I wish the specialty Restaurants were open for lunch, but thats a personal opinion. Bars: I love my drinks, and I had many over the course of the week, all of them were tasty and well made, I will say that the bar staff does seem overwhelmed, and could use some more help, especially the first couple of days, maybe even having more servers around the pool for drinks would alleviate the mob around the bars. A few times I would have bartenders who were borderline snotty, but most of them were fantastic. My favorite drinks are the painkiller, mudslide, Bahama mama, margaritas. I did try a few drinks from margaritaville, I cant recall the name of them. Pools Okay, big downside here, there are 2 small pools one for adults/ one for kids. the adult pool was very packed, which it were bigger, especially with size of ship! Thermal spa My husband and I purchased the spa package, unfortunately the first time we tried to use it people were reserving the heated loungers while they were not there, this was very annoying! I did get to enjoy it once or twice, and the thermal pool was wonderful. Don't think I would spend the $200 again, unless it was a winter cruise. PS. Do Not Recommend this for handicapped people. My in laws tried to use it, as they are both wheel chair bound, and it was challanging for them because of the height of the loung chairs, and the tiles were very slippery, they did not feel safe moving in the room, thankfully NCL refunded them since they couldn't use it . Entertainment: The choir of men show was great, the comedians also were a hit, howl at the moon, the piano dueling was also fun. The after midnight show was horrible in my opinion, while the performers were definitely talented, there was no storyline, I wasn't a fan, but a few people in my group did enjoy that. There ware some fun events throughout the week that were fun and many passengers participated in, the theme night parties in H20 were great , although they got packed out quick. Service: Overall the service was great, we went to customer service about a small mistake and they were very sweet, and made every effort to get to the bottom of it. Never had long wait there. We also dealt with the Cruise Next staff, and they also were fantastic with the questions I had. Highly recommend purchasing this if you plan to cruise in next few years. this is my second time using the cruise next vouchers. The elevators are a bit slow, I prefer the stairs,,but with wheelchair family, we had to rely on them. Pictures: Tons of opportunity for pictures, I just hated picking a few. I wish they would offer all the pictures digitally for one price! Just my opinion. Port: Went to Bermuda, was beautiful as always. This is my third trip there. People in my party went to horseshoe bay/ tobacco bay and said the beaches were wonderful, with a ton of fish swimming alongside. There is a wave-runner vendor right outside the ship that a few of us went on, and it was a blast. the shops around the dockyard are also cute , overall Bermuda is pricey when it comes to shopping. There are ferries cheap ($5) to take to Hamilton or St.George for more shopping. I preferred to hang on the ship for 2/3 days at port, which was lovely because the pool was basically empty! and plenty of lounge chairs available. Disembarkation- WOW is all I can say, last time I was on the ship with a group was 3 years ago and it was a complete hot mess with disembarkation. I was so nervous, but the system they set up to get the passengers off the boat in a safe manner without tons of lines is incredible. We were off an hour earlier than we thought, and our luggage retrieval went off without a hitch, and even customs was a breeze, I was completely shocked! Way to go NCL, obviously they listened to the complaints from the past cruisers! Overall I am so happy with the entire trip, we had a blast, and we are already booked on another cruise, the Encore 01/2021! Cant wait! For the future Escape Cruisers keep an open mind and you will have fun. If you have questions feel free to ask me Hscally1088@yahoo.com Read Less

I’m careful with my reviews because I read them carefully prior to booking and my hope is always the same, people that write point out the good as well as the bad. We have been in 17 cruises, with 5 different cruise lines. Nine of these cruises have been in a Norwegian ship. The various cruises were on Norwegian, carnival, Princess, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean ships. The truth be told although most would think the same quality from ship to ship, and my guess possibly what the cruise line strives for, it’s just not the case. This review is regarding Norwegian cruises, specifically the Escape. As you will see I rated it excellent and do so with sincerity. We have taken cruises on the following Norwegian cruise ships, Escape, Breakaway, Dawn, Gem, Epic, and Pearl. There are and will always be a few hiccups so to speak on any vacation regardless of how taken. It’s not so much that a problem develops, what’s of more importance is how any issues are handled. The staff, Chiefs and management aboard the Escape far exceed that of all the other Norwegian ships we have been on. My wife as well as I have a variety of medical issues, all of which have the potential of ruined vacation if care is not taken by staff to assure cleanliness in the room of dust, sanitation throughout the ship to assure colds and illness isn’t spread but my wife having a major Gluten allergy Chiefs and waiter staff assuring foods are prepared and handled avoiding any chance of cross contamination. Entering the Escape a food service manager is assigned to any and all vacationers to assure food is handed in strick compliance. Regardless of so many areas of a ship to eat, anytime a key card is swiped in a food area, that supervisor somehow responds to the area to assure no mistakes are made. Although I’m sure many that cruise are aware this is done on other ships as well as other Norwegian lines... None are as careful as those on the Escape. In fairness, any ship can be just lucky or have a bad day. But with 5 cruises now on the Escape, each cruise on this ship has actually improved and a few supervisors as well as managers have kinda got to recognize us. Chiefs and food service staff routinely add to our experience by sending gluten free items/treats to the room for my wife to enjoy. Only drawback we have found on Norwegian is entertainment. Because we cruise so often on this cruise line, there is a bit of redundancy on shows. For example, although a great show, the magician dinner show has been running for over s year on this same ship. This being said for those similar to us that cruise often and enjoy a particular ship, we lose out on entertainment because after seeing several times it gets old. So my suggestion to Norwegian staff is IF they are going to keep a show or act for any extended period of time, that show should be updated with new material. For a magician I would think this would be easy to do, why it’s not done beats me. I would think after a year doing exactly the same thing would get old on the magician as well. Same goes with the Newly or not so newly wed show. How hard would it be to change up the questions asking guests called up to participate? I realize this is being a little critical of a ship I’m rating 5 stars, but Hope is someone in management looks over this review as well and possibly consider what I’m saying as a easy way to make trips even more enjoyable for others like us that cruise 3-5 times a year and are regulars on their ships. We choose this cruise because our cruise friends booked it and we decided to go with them. in all we were 10 people. From start to finished it was a very good cruise, We arrived at the Port by 10.15 am and check in took all but 15 min ( I did provide a CC on line before getting to the Port so that saved time) We were on Board by 11;00 am very fast and organized boarding. We all had lunch at Savor (10 of us) and service was quick and friendly and the menu and food did not disappoint. By 1: 20 pm the Cabins were ready for us and we went to our Cabin Mini Suite 15798 to drop of our carry on and to get ready for Muster Drill at 2;30 pm . Muster Drill was well organized and went smooth ( it helps if guest would show up on time and listen to the instructions giving ) We sailed away a little after 3:00 pm and we got lucky with the weather for March ( NCL does not control the weather or the seas lol ) The service provided by our room Steward was great. we never had to ask for anything. He made sure we had everything that we needed on a daily basis. I can honestly say out of all the cruises we have been on this was the best, from the food to the drinks to the service to the Entertainment and having great friends on board everything was awesome. NCL should be proud of their crew and the service they provide to their guest, I would like to add that if you find that the crew was not overly friendly, you may want to check to see if you treated them with respect and in a friendly matter . sometimes the problem lies with us. We got home on Sunday and had a wonderful trip! I can confirm first hand that the rumours are true. The Escape is a beautiful ship with a warm and friendly staff. We had one dud server, but instead of dwelling on it, we filled out many hero cards about the great ones. The good vibes started when we got word the Thursday before that our bid for an upgrade was accepted. We went from family balcony to mini-suite. I got the spa pass for the last 3 days of the trip and spent many hours on the heated tile beds. Ahhhhhhh..... The food was the best I have had in 12 years of cruising (mostly NCL and MSC). We rarely hit the buffet because my hubby has a mobility issue, but Taste, Savor and especially the Manhattan dining rooms were wonderful experiences. We often got 2 appetizers each and if we were too full for dessert, hit the midnight buffet for a "sweetie" before turning in. My 16 year old took a few days to warm up to the Entourage program, but we hardly saw him the last 3 days of the cruise. As far as accommodating my hubby's mobility issue (CP), the access desk made very few promises, but delivered on them in spades! Boarding and disembarking were smooth as silk with wheelchair service and priority boarding. Remind me to take him with me EVERYtime I travel to bypass the long lines. :) Hubby was very happy to remain on the ship while my son and I took in the ports. No Great Stirrup Cay this trip, and the buzz on the ship is that the stop is more miss than hit at this time of year. NCL returned $32 in port fees pp which almost covered my spa pass. The greatest testament came from my son and hubby who are both first timers. Both want to know when we are going to do it again. Literally again. Same ship. Same itinerary. What nubes! Read Less

Although we have cruised quite a few times before, we finally convinced our daughter and her husband to join us for this one. It was a totally different experience, but it was even more fun than our other cruises. EMBARKATION- I have some mobility issues and so requested wheelchair assistance at the pier. The wheelchair waiting area was just inside the terminal at Pier 88 in NYC, It was great to wait in the holding area and not to have to stand in long queues. We arrived at 9:30 and were on board by 11:30. We went straight to the dining room for lunch because the kids were hungry. Although it rained much of the afternoon, it cleared up enough for a fun SailAway. The band played some fun and upbeat songs and we enjoyed sailing past the statue of liberty. We continued to have a great time the rest of the week. Here are some of my thoughts in general: DINING: Specialty restaurants were all very good.We particularly enjoyed Teppanyaki and Moderno. O'Sheehan's service was a little bit lacking, as was the MDR. The first time at O'Sheehan's the waiter refused to order kids meals for our very picky 4 year old.He also brought multiples of several dishes. We had a huge table full of food; it was almost comical. The second time we ate at O'Sheehan's, they did go get a kids' meal for the little one, but we could see two staff members arguing about it. No matter, the food showed up and the kid was happy. In the MDR, food was slow to come and at our first dinner there, we were shown to a table, but no waiter seemed to have been assigned. We flagged down an officer and it was quickly rectified, but only after several nearby tables were seated after we were and had ordered and been served drinks and bread while we still waited. We also are STILL unhappy about no lobster in the MDR. Food service was the just a little lacking overall, but not enough to make us unhappy. After all, there is no need to stress, we were on vacation. PORTS: We didn't take this cruise for the ports. We didn't even get off the ship in Port Canaveral. There is almost nothing to do there that is worth the money. We did enjoy the uncrowded pool deck, though. The buffet didn't seem prepared for the throngs trying to grab a bite before heading out, though. GREAT STIRRUP Cay: This was the highlight of our trip. We rented a small cabana and it was worth every penny. The wait staff was very attentive and brought us everything we wanted. We loved having a place where we could be in or out of the sun and loved seeing the coconut palms dripping with fruit right next to us. One of the island resident staff even showed the kids how to get coconut water out of one and let them try it. It made their day. NASSUA: we did the Blue Lagoon Island excursion and also loved that. SPLASH ACADEMY: We couldn't keep the kids out of Splash. They had so much fun. The staff were exceptional. The circus show they put on the last day was so cute and you could tell how much fun the kids were having. SHIP: The ship is beautiful and we had a wonderful week. I have never seen a friendlier staff. The hotel director, Deepak, was one of the most hands-on I have seen. His secretary, Charry, made special efforts to make sure we were happy all week. (Hint: make sure you go to the Meet and Mingle! In fact, this was also the best meet and mingle I have attended. They held it in the District Brew House and all of the senior staff attended. Free beer samples and food samples from Food Republic were accompanied by entertainment in the form of a musical duo.) We loved the Escape and can't wait to go on her again! Read Less

We picked this cruise because of the time frame and the itinerary. We had not been to these ports before and will not pick this itinerary again. Ports were okay but just not for us. We loved all the special attention we received in the dining rooms casino and shops which was probably due to our haven status. The staff were super great. The ship was large but noticed that smokers filled the 678 Ocean Place with smoke for the entire cruise. A better ventilation system is needed. Our room was spacious and we loved the balcony........spent most of our time there instead of the haven courtyard. NCL freestyle cruising suited us to just do nothing and sometimes do a little of something (see a show, bingo or sunbathing) We are now planning our next cruise and hope it is on the Escape. Did I mention that I loved the shops on board? Loved the "Life is Good" store the best. Read Less

The ship has 2 sets of elevators fwd and aft. Lots of restaurants to choose from and specialty dining facilities. We sailed in a group of 12 and all had a great time on all the activities we participated on. Hurricane Florence did not even bother us during our sail. The escape has a couple of venues. Food republic, and tapas. Both were excellent, Bayamos for seafood! Great sushi at food republic. Had lunch there twice. Tapas had wonderful small plates. Prices were very reasonable. quality of food and service at main dining rooms was great. Cagney's had the same quality of food as usual. In fact the lobster bisque was excellent. Had a lobster at the seafood restaurant. It was just perfect. But everything else was wonderful. District brew house was a nice place to relax, read and have a beer. Buffet selections at the Garden Cafe will give you a wide variety of food from soup, pizza, burgers to main dishes. They even had an Asian Station on both sides of the serving area. Good job for the captain for keeping us safe and for the sunny weather in his navigation and keeping us posted during a medevac close to Nuntucket. The cruise director (Mandy) and her staff made all the activities enjoyable like the win, loose and draw: family pictionary, dancing with the stars, crew staff talent show, although at the 5:00 Bar Somewhere, karaoke selection was very limited, they could have more. It was great quality family time, we ate together every night, the services and crew were so friendly and helpful. The specialty dining was outstanding, but the buffet was just as goo. We attended two shows and the quality of the production exceeded our anticipation. The pool deck had plenty of room, chairs and friendly faces. We loved Spice h20 and the Grotto Once docked in Bermuda the access to the ferries was great only a few hundred yards from the ship. Sailed out of NYC on the Escape to Bermuda on May 27, 2018. Check in and boarding was the smoothest of any cruise I have taken. Sailing was good, a very few minor moments of ship movement from the weather as a result of weather on the way to Bermuda but none after that. The weather was a minor issue the first day in Bermuda as it rained off an on for the first ½ of the day. After that it was fine. On the ship the spa is always a big plus for me but with the hot tub and stone recliners not being much past slightly warm, it was a bit of a let down. Still enjoyed it though. Food was excellent EXCEPT the steak and service in la Cucina. The steak there was extremely tough and quite overcooked. The server failed to bring a requested soft drink even after several requests. Cagney's rocked. Taste and Savor were great for breakfast! The Ocean Blue menu at Bayamo was very tasty but not quite as good as it was on the Getaway. Moderno, Le Bistro, and O'Sheehan's weer all very good as well. I love those Thai chili wings! Lastly I use a wheeled walked to get around. I never had a single issue with being able to get where I wanted to go! We had four in an angled balcony cabin and we all did well. I did miss not having a light on the balcony though. The crew was amazing as usual. Just look like you need help and someone is there to take care of you. We had a lot of fun in Bermuda. Crystal Caves was a nice tour. Jumping into the cave pools from the 'cliff' walls at blue hole was a lot of fun. Snorkeling at Church beach was some of the best snorkeling we have ever done and swimming at Horseshoe Bay beach is a must do thing for everyone. It was our first ever trip to Bermuda. We plan to do it again and hopefully have a bit warmer and less windy conditions. Thanks NCL for another great cruise vacation! Read Less

Hi...I chose this cruise to take advantage of the low price offered immediately after the hurricane season to the western carribean and mexico sadly after the devastation to the eastern carribean islands...some highlights... - even though sailing was close to november, climate was gorgeous, mid 70's outside and a little cooler inside the ship... - Out of the 10 or so Norwegian Cruises I have been on, I thought Andre was the best cruise director with his pure honesty and sometimes true to life views that were hilarious...I actually he was better than the legendary Julie. - shows were top notch, especially the chemistry between the group "The Mercy Boys" and their harmony was so good reflecting mostly british music along with some r&b hits from the us mainland... --unlike many of the harsh reviews, I thought Brat Pack was great for its 80's teenage saga and nostalgia but be careful there is a scene where they disrobe to their undies.. - After Midnight was great for the tap and rhythm section mostly harlem and jazz music reflecting the roaring 20's of that era -although I did not eat at dinner in the mdr, food was plentiful and delicious at the buffet during all hours, especially the asian food section... --i did tip well my room steward Jose who along with other room steward and the various staff on the ship literally work day and night - being platinum latitude member, I got a chance to go beneath the ship into the crew quarters, down the "I95" stretch, backstage of the theatre but most memorable of all are those gigantic machines that clean and fold all the laundry of the entire ship... -- I had a great time overall and would highly recommend NCL to everyone --one more thing, don't miss the shows in the atrium...even though they were crowded, they were absolutely hilarious and the high turnout reflected that... Bye and can't wait to sail the NCL Bliss next! Read Less

We wanted to experience NCL because of the ship not the itinerary. We enjoyed the whole experience. My granddaughter got me up to sing karaoke with her. I don't know what I sang, just followed the words on the screen. The shows were excellent and the band was outstanding. As a musician myself I was blown away by the excellence of the musicians. I really enjoyed it. Our cabin was excellent. Plenty of room and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely choose NCL again in the future. We live in Orlando and the travel to Miami was a bit much for us. We would have rather sailed out of Port Canaveral. The food was excellent, we went to a few of the restaurants and enjoyed the food. We chose anytime dining and found it the best way to go. No rushing and hardly ever a wait for a table. We loved this cruise. Read Less

The restaurants on this cruise were many but we ate dinner five times in MANHATEN ROOM The room had the atmosfere of a night club, The choices of food were so many We had a hard time choosing between the choices and so sometimes we had two or three appitizers before main meal which was also delicous; They also had desserts that not only looked good but were delicous We ate the other two nights in Bistro Food was very good and service was great the waiters could not do enough for you. They brought us an aniversary cake and sang us a song.It was a wonderful experience. There were so many great shows to see it was hard to decide where to go first; We have never seen a show on a cruise ship as wonderful as After Midnight also The Frankie Valie Tribute show was terrific we saw it twice. We had a great time and are going to book this cruise again next year.We have been traveling on Norwegian since 1987 and this was the beat cruise we have ever been on Read Less

I organized a group for a craniofacial theme cruise (craniofacial birth defects), called Fabulous Faces at Sea: The 2016 Craniofacial Cruise. I ended up hosting a 17-member group. My travel agent (who also has a granddaughter with the same craniofacial condition I have) found this cruise line, routing, ship, date, and pricing for our group. She was able to get me into a Studio (solo occupancy) cabin on Norwegian Escape. My mother also came along (a late booking) and got a neighbouring Studio cabin with a connecting door to mine. Our group had some group-specific activities onboard (a Q&A session for me and my mother to answer questions from the group about my condition and how she raised me, as well as an ice cream social) on our days at sea, as well as a group-specific shore excursion (Coral World and Coki Beach on St. Thomas USVI). From the time we boarded Escape in Miami on August 6 through the time we disembarked in Miami on the 14th, the service aboard ship was excellent. Mark, the cabin steward for both my cabin and Mom's cabin, went out of his way to serve our needs and made our cruise special, by leaving towel animals and other surprises in our cabin each night. One night, the Studio social manager left a sweets tray on our beds. Mom and I loved our Studio cabins--they were cozy yet space-efficient, comfortable with wide beds, and the decor was unique and funky (I loved the colour-changing mood lighting). I highly recommend NCL for solo travellers! The Garden Cafe buffet was our favourite place to eat breakfast each morning, and when our group were not having dinners in the Savor and Taste dining rooms, Mom and I had our dinners at the Garden Cafe. For our group dinners, both Savor and Taste restaurants served us beautifully, with gourmet meals (which we loved). On my own, I enjoyed O'Sheehan's Bar and Grill, the Irish pub (and it was my favourite dining spot for solo dining). On the last night of the cruise, I took Mom (on a mother-son date) to Le Bistro for dinner (ribeye steak for two with French cabernet sauvignon). The waiters in Savoy, Taste, and especially Le Bistro, were attentive in serving us while being very friendly. After my mother retired to bed (she's of advanced age), I enjoyed the nightlife, dancing away the evening (and wee hours of the morning) with new friends on Spice H2O and in the Skyline Club. During the day (especially on days at sea), Mom and I enjoyed just relaxing in the deck 6 forward atrium and listening to the piano music and entertainment (and we even saw a towel animal folding demonstration and cupcake icing demo) and soaking in the hot tub and sunning on Spice H2O. My mother was given priority attention during embarkation with wheelchair service, and the same upon disembarkation. All in all, the cruise was excellent in all aspects, and NCL worked well with our group (including some of us with medical needs and mobility issues). I would definitely cruise NCL again (and use the Studio cabins again). I plan to host more Fabulous Faces at Sea Craniofacial Cruises again in future years, and NCL is on my radar. Read Less

This was my very FIRST cruise! So needless to say I was full of anxiety especially after reading all the negative reviews. I was really afraid that it was going to be so crowded on the ship that we couldn't do anything. IT WASNT! Embarking was so quick! We were on the ship within 15 minutes of arriving in Miami! When I first walked on board, I was mesmerized at how HUGE and Beautiful this ship was!! Our rooms weren't quite ready yet so we went ahead to have some lunch at the Garden Cafe. My first taste of cruise food was DELIGHTFUL!!! I couldn't believe all of the options~! Everything was relish! After eating, we headed to guest services to find out how to log-in to wireless, as I was a bit leery about not being able to get in contact with my kids at home once we left. We purchased the unlimited internet package with our on-board credit. I was perfectly at ease when I realized I could FaceTime my kids ANYTIME on the ship and at all the ports! It was cool letting them see the ship and scenery too by phone! The connection is a bit slow but definitely served the purpose. We got a balcony suite. I LOVED our room! lots of closet space, cabinet space and the bathroom was way more roomy than i expected. One of the things that really stood out about this cruise that i didn't expect was how extraordinarily comfortable these beds were!!!! OMG!!! I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning!! LOL!! The bed and pillows made me feel like I was sleeping on a big ball of cotton! I tried to think of ways to take the bed home...but...it just wasn't feasible. The view from our balcony was intoxicating!. I sat on the balcony every morning with a fresh cup of coffee and just soaked up the view! There a coffee maker in your room with cream and sugar, and 2 cups. We had a stateroom right next to my brother and sister so we could just chat on our balconies :) There are enough plug-ins to use your phone chargers and a fan if you like. there is also a hidden blow dryer under the cabinet that i found helpful. When we left our room, we would just stick my library card in the card slot next to the door to keep the air conditioning running otherwise it turns off when you leave. It will also turn off as long as you have your balcony door open (thats just common sense). I don't know who took care of our room because no one ever introduced themselves. I do know they were very courteous in the hallways. Whomever cleaned our room ever night did a wonderful job! Everything was always so neat and smelt fresh! They really keep this ship CLEAN!! One thing i thought helped a lot in finding your way around was the little fish on the carpet. They swim in the direction to the front of the ship! Our first night was awesome. It didn't take long for them to get our luggage to our rooms and we got quite comfortable. We had booked Teppanyaki for dinner and that place was the BOMB!!! I ordered the lobster....BEST lobster EVER!! Warning... Do NOT order the ice cream for dessert. It seriously looks like a piece of crap(for lack of a better word) on the plate. You will know if someone else orders it! The chefs were so fun and entertaining! They had us singing and even made us a mickey mouse with the rice! the second night, we tried our hand at the casino. We found out that you win BIG on the first few nights and you start losing towards the end of the cruise! Thats the way it was with my niece and us. We won $400 at roulette the first time we played and we were smart enough to walk away with it. About the fourth day of the cruise we tried roulette again and lost $100. At least we still went home with $300 extra. the casino does smell of cigarettes really bad but i was fine wit it. Ive never been a smoker but its never bothered me. Its not like smoke was everywhere like in some bars I've been to. You could just really smell it bad. But like i said, didn't bother me. We loved the deck parties at night at H20. Lots of dancing and fun under the moon! the big screen was really cool. We especially like 80's night! Lots of good music! We got the drink package with our cruise. Unlike a lot of the reviews that complain about it being hard or slow to get drinks, we never experienced this. The staff was wonderful. They always were quick about getting us drinks. We never had to wait long at all. The movement on the ship was very noticeable. I got motion sickness and a very bad headache. BUT..... SEABIRDS saved me. I got them for $11 in the gift shop and about 30 minutes of putting them on, I was perfectly fine. I had to wear them the whole cruise but it was worth it not to be sick. I must note that i get sick really easy so the movement might not be a thing for most people. We didn't hear any noise from other cabins while we were in ours. It was perfectly quiet. I know Im jumping around but Ive never been a good writer anyway...lol...just trying to cover as much as possible. It was weird that we didn't see many kids on the ship at all. But they were still in school where we live. We got to experience most things the ship had to offer. the ropes course was exciting (i took pics while my sister and brother did it)! They laughed so hard having a ton of fun on it. We played mini golf. We did the waterslides. The one with the float is the most fun to me. My sister in law got stuck on the other one. When they dropped her, her t-shirt got stuck on the slide and she was hung for a minute, which scared the crap out of her....lol! We never got in the pool because it really was way too crowded for that. The pool was just too small. The hot tubs were always in use as well. I found that if you wanted to enjoy those things, get up really early, say around 6:30 and you will have them all to yourself. We took some line dancing classes! It was hilarious! As for the shows, we only seen the Brat Pack which was very entertaining, the comedy show with Phil which had us all laughing and "after midnight" which was a musical filled with lots of good singing and dancing. I think our favorite show was the crews talent show. They did a lot of cultural things. As for the facilities on the ship, I didn't use the spa but i wanted to. The gym was cool. We worked out a couple of days then gave up the fight against all the calories! LOL! I gained 5 pounds on this cruise!! Overall the food was amazing. We ate at the Garden cafe most of the time. there is this one guy who stands in the entrance greeting you with the "Washy Washy song" and hand sanitizer. You'll never forget him or his smile! The elevators were a bit crowded every now and then but nothing to complain about. One night we had an emergency on the ship and they had to fly a helicopter to the ship to airlift someone with a medical emergency. That was cool to watch. That night the ship rocked like crazy but it did make me sleep good :) The arcade is too much fun and the bowling is pretty neat as well. The ports were all so beautiful. I loved this cruise so much! Disembarking was as smooth and quick as embarking. It will be hard for the next cruise to compare to this one! Ive been sad since we left the ship...lol! Read Less

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Wish I was there right now. Since there are so few reviews that address accessibility information for disabled people in wheelchairs and scooters, I think I will focus on that. As a person who uses a scooter, I found the experience to be fantastic. The embarkation was very quick and easy and they let me get on first so as not to get in the way of other folks getting on the boat, which was fantastic by me. The accessible room was very large, compared to a regular room and the special roll in shower had lots of grab bars which is important if you need a flat area to roll into, or in my case, bars to hold onto while you are standing to bathe. Please, if you are not disabled or are disabled and do not really need this kind of room, do not request it. There is a special place in H E double hockey sticks for people who park in disabled parking or take these kinds of rooms when they don't need them. There are only a scant few on each boat so please leave them for those who truly need it. The elevators are never fast enough on any boat so you will have to wait. Abled bodied people should take the Norwegian Stair Challenge, where you never take the elevator (advanced), take the stairs every other time (intermediate) or take the stairs when it is only one or two floors (beginner). It will speed things up for you abled bodied people and my husband LOST four pounds on the cruise doing the advanced version. All three of our ports docked and did not tenders, so that was easy. In St. Thomas we used Mr. Gumbs taxi and after pre-arranging it, we just asked around using his name and they called him to come get us. I was able to roll into the open air trolley! In Tortola, we disembarked, went down to the market, and hired a private taxi at the stand there for one hour $55.00 and he gave us a tour and left us at Myetts restaurant which was wheelchair accessible and had a great view of the beach. We spent a nice hour or two there, then he came back and got us. The whole thing was $90 when it was all said in done and of course we tipped him well on top of that. In Nassau, we disembarked (with 5 other ships - yikes) and went 10 minutes to the right to Junkanoo beach which is free. We bought fried snapper and Bahamian beers and enjoyed the beach. A great cheap excursion! The boat was very accessible and everyone bent over backwards for us. The food was amazing and I am a picky foodie. I could not believe how great the service was and how personable everyone was. The pool was a sea of humanity. Do the math- 5,200 people/1 pool = hot mess. I would never get in a pool anyway in such a crowded place, because, yuck. I will say I heard they had a lift if you did want to do that, and I personally saw the lift in the spa whirlpool. Feel free to ask me any questions as I know what a pain it is planning a trip as a disabled person. Lots to do, lots to eat and drink, great entertainment, you will love it if you have the right attitude! Go up one deck from the pool and you will find quieter lounge chairs outside the Vibe lounge that are free. Vibe is totally worth it if you happen to get there fast enough to get in. If not, don't sweat it, just go to Vibe and sit outside the doors for a similar, free experience. Read Less

Let me start by saying that I read reviews before the cruise that had me worried. Don't believe them! This was my 9th cruise and it was the best I have ever had. Ill start at the beginning. Getting on only took 10 minutes. They let people on early. So we were on board by 1130 am. The ship is new and beautiful. Kind of a Vegas kinda feel. Great vibe. I have a disability. This ship is VERY accessible. Every part of the ship is accessible. I had a cabin #I2912. Aft with large balcony. I had 4 chairs on my deck and could have put 6. It was awesome. Spent more time on this deck than any of my previous cruises. I rented a wheelchair from Special Needs at Sea. Great investment. It was waiting in my cabin when I arrived. Being at the back of the ship, we had an unrestricted view. It was so quiet it was unbelievable. It also is a short trip to the elevators which dropped you right in the middle of all the dining options and casino. Check the deck plans. Its the perfect place to be. Speaking of dining options. We could not have been happier with the food. I did the 3 meal package, Ill do a quick rundown of where we ate. Cagneys. 10 out of 10. As soon as you board, go to the headliner cafe and set up all your reservations that you couldn't get online. We went to Cagneys twice. La Cucina. 9 out of 10. The steak there was amazing. Also recommend the shrimp risotto. Food Republic. 10 out of 10. Best sliders I have ever had and the menu is varied and interesting. Sushi fans will love it. Margaritaville. 9 out of 10. Order the nachos and keep in mind it will feed 6 people. Great burgers too and its cheap. Its ala carte pricing. O'Sheehans. Amazing prime rib and just great food on the menu. Open 24/7. Chocolate Cheesecake was something you need to enjoy. Wow. All the dining rooms. Manhatten room, Savor, and Taste all very good. You don't need to eat at the upcharge places. These are all excellent options and beautiful rooms with great service. Didn't eat at La Bistro. Did on a different NCL cruise and didn't like it. We had so many places to eat we didn't get to try Teppanyaki, Moderno, Bayamo. Cant wait to go back to try them as well. Bake shop and Gelato shop was awesome too. Only open though limited hours. The comedy show was really good. We also went to the Million dollar quartet. Not our cup of tea, and we were having so much fun in the casino we missed the other 2 shows. The theater sound was really good and was very nice. The Humidor cigar lounge was nice. You can buy Cubans at Little Denmark in Tortola. The Waterfront dining aspect was really nice. Having your meal outside on a beautiful night is hard to beat. You will pay 18% gratuity every time you make a purchase on board. And several places do charge a la carte prices. But they are reasonable. And you can avoid those places if you are on a budget. Pools. Busy. Always. There are little places to escape all over this ship. If you want loud, you can have it. If you want to have a quiet drink, try outside at the 5 o'clock somewhere bar. I could go on for hours. This ships food, service, cabins (lots of space for things) and things to do were very well designed. The only thing I saw that was dumb was putting a running/jogging track next to the pool. That was not a good idea. And being a foodie I kind of hoped for better lobster on board. Most places had the cold water lobsters. Just ok. But how spoiled are you if you are whining about your lobster tails. Spa was awesome too. Had two massages. Pricey. But well done. And stop by the Mondavi wine shop and ask for Larry. Great guy and great service. Even getting off the ship was no stress. Again. Highly recommend this ship. You won't be disappointed. And thanks to Silas the cruise director and Maneesh our cabin steward who went out of their way to make our trip perfect. It was a great... Escape. Read Less

First of all let me say that we have been on many different cruise lines, from big to small and cheap to luxurious. This was such a surprise. Last year we were on the Oasis of the Seas and it was fabulous. I feel Norwegian squeezed as many rooms on this ship as possible and sacrificed open public space. I had the feeling of a very small ship and there were always tons of people everywhere, no room for a quiet moment. My biggest complaint is about the charges- I have never seen anything like it. We felt forced to eat in specialty restaurants as the food was terrible in the complimentary dining rooms. Even room service had a charge. Beverage package didn't include water or coffee at a coffee shop. Even a show- the supper club charged. Also the music was the same throughout the ship- loud- drums and bass. Even while we were eating dinner the music was too loud to hear. No soft dinner music at all. We were with a group and there was no place for us to meet. It just was my least favorite cruise experience I have ever had. The entertainment was good, but I do not think it is a pretty ship. Also I think the service is not as good with the freestyle dining as you do not get to know the people. Read Less

We just returned from a week on the Norwegian Escape. There were 21 in our party. The oldest was 74 and there were 11 kids from 2 to 16. Everyone enjoyed themselves. I am going to try to be comprehensive and fair, while giving a balance of the good and the “needs improvement.” The best feature by far is the food. OH MY GOD! The food is phenomenal. Our whole party had the ultimate food packages. We ate at just about every specialty restaurant on the boat (There are about 10 of them). Some of the best food I have ever eaten. The Italian restaurant’s tiramisu was the best I have ever had. The Brazilian Steakhouse was amazing. The ribeye at the “regular” steakhouse was perfect. The food at the three “standard” restaurants was excellent too. We only went to the buffet for breakfast and lunch, but the food there was great too. Real whipped cream is rare in the Caribbean, but was plentiful for waffles at breakfast – Mmm. The only slightly subpar meal we had was at the French restaurant. It was not bad, but was not up to the standards of the other restaurants. The biggest problem with the cruise was the “structure” of the ship. It was a very full cruise – about 4500 guests. In the past we have often cruised Carnival. They have a large theater for shows, gatherings, games, etc. That is apparently not the Norwegian style. Everything on Norwegian is small and intimate. There is a theater, but it is arranged like a movie theater not a “gathering” room. The Atrium is where all of the events take place. They have Bingo, Deal or No Deal, Not so Newlywed Game, live music, WiiU dance for kids, and more amusing things. Lots of people, especially families, love these things. The problem…the Atrium seats about 50 people. They brought in folding chairs at times, but it was a madhouse. People were fighting over chairs. They need a much larger gathering space. Although they have a 5 slides, a small water park, a small kids pool, and a medium adults pool, the pool area felt small as well. To cram all the things in one place, they lost seating area. There were maybe 150 seats around the pools – not enough for a day at sea for 4500. There is nowhere for parents to sit around the kids area and watch their kids. The pools were not heated and were a little chilly – probably warmer or at least more refreshing if you don’t cruise in December. The slides themselves were fantastic and fun. Something for every age – even thrill seeking adults. The tube slide was the most popular. But even better than the waterslides was the ropes course. A two story ropes course with 2 zip lines. My teens spent hours on the ropes course. Plus there was a baby-safe mini-ropes course. My 2 year old LOVED that one. We also had the unlimited drinks package. I found the drinks to be excellent and maybe even a little too alcoholic! Many of the bars had their own specialty drinks as well, and they were mostly very tasty. The cabins were a solid good. They are bigger than Carnival cruise cabins, but they are still small – and we had balcony rooms. My stroller is a standard size (a city mini), but could not fit through the door. This made transferring a sleeping 2 year old into bed harder than it should have been. You have to keep your room card in a slot to keep the electricity on in your room. Therefore, you can’t charge your electronics while you are out – which was unfortunate. Then we discovered a piece of paper could be wedged into the slot instead of a card. But this means the cabin steward will think you are in (there is a light outside the cabin that turns on when the card is in the slot) and will not make up your cabin. A no win situation. Did I mention how great the food was? We found all of the people very nice. We prepaid our tips, and most people do, so they are not hustling for tips as much. Yet they still bent over backwards to be nice. There is a teens club that my kids loved. There are separate clubs for 3-5, 6-9, and 10-12 year olds. There is even babysitting for a fee (we never used it). The younger kids in our group didn’t love the kids club so much – it’s all indoors in one room per age group and got too crowded. No scavenger hunts like we’ve seen other places. It is VERY secure – kids are essentially on lock down. The teens area is completely separate, much larger, and kids come and go at will. It is a new ship, and my wife says she has never seen public bathrooms so clean. They are obsessive with germs. Multiple staff people stand at every entrance to the buffet with hand sanitizer. Plus there are fixed sanitizer stations EVERYWHERE. Plus the bathrooms have paper towel dispensers JUST TO USE TO OPEN THE DOORS. They have hand driers to wash hands and dry them, but towel dispensers only at the doors with instructions to use them on the door handles. The entertainment options were great. There were two comics with a total of three sets each. There was karaoke at least once a day. Multiple piano bars plus dueling pianos many nights. One hiccup – my fourteen year old is a huge sports fan. The only place to watch sports with sound is the adults only bar. He was not happy about that at all. Overall, we had a great time. Even with 20+ people in our party, we had trouble finding each other – probably a good thing. There was always something to see, do, or eat, and it was usually funny, fun, and delicious. I would certainly cruise Norwegian again. 4 ½ stars. They lose the half on the small Atrium. Read Less
