Had a great time at the Norwegian Escape . Everything went well and smoothly. The service, the staff, the restaurants, the food and the entertainment was all over the top. A lot of activities to do. There are plenty of dining options to choose from; even the complimentary restaurants are great with a variety of delicious food. The staff always welcoming and willing to accommodate your needs. Despite the number of alternative venues on Escape, the Garden Cafe which is the buffet, can be quite crowded during peak breakfast and lunch hours. Nevertheless the variety of food was always good. We didn’t take any excursions but we did visit Horseshoe Bay which is a must, the beach is absolutely beautiful and traveling to and from was very easy , safe and cheap, only $14 round trip. Overall my husband and I had a great time and a positive experience. I highly recommend cruising with Norwegian. Read Less

Generally the ship was nice and clean. The food was above average. Entertainment was very good. Staff was courteous and always helpful. Biggest problem with ship is the swimming pool situation and no real adult area. That makes this ship a very poor choice for me and most adults I know. Hard to believe whoever designed this ship missed on this one. First time i cruised Norwegian, but I will need to check ship out in more detail before I cruise with them again. The agent I booked with said there was an adult pool and area. He was correct, but the pool was tiny, there was only one adult hot tub and there were kids all over the place. Also, whats the point of having a small pool and the entire thing is 6'8" deep. everyone was hanging on the sides because no one like treading water in the middle when you are trying to relax and talk to friends. design people really messed up big time. I was not the only one complaining. It seemed to be what many people talked about everyday. Variety of bars was great, but usually difficult to get a drink. What makes it worse is paying for the drink package and spending half you time trying to get drinks just to get your moneys worth. Also for the price you pay for drink package, they should have bottled water. Very poor! Agent told me they did have bottled water with package, but was wrong. Very disappointed, as i am a water drinker more than an alcohol drinker. I had to spend money to buy bottled water. Read Less

I choose Norwegian Escape to Bermuda because I wanted lots of time to relax and be pampered, great excursions and one port of destination. From boarding to disembarkation, I felt like I was treated like a queen...but I do tend to act like one. Lol. The staff referred to me by name (which blew my mind), they remembered details and special needs. I honestly do not have the time to explain the quality of the freestyle dining in terms of food, presentation, and staff. You honestly would think the Maitre D's were taking care of royalty. The entertainment was great. An older couple who were on their 27th cruise with different cruise lines told me that it was the best entertainment they had ever encountered. I don't have the comparison, because this was my first extended cruise, but OMG...the entertainment was first class with Broadway and Motown entertainers, as well as comedians from well known television shows. Would I do it again? I can't wait to do it again. I am hypersensitive to cigarette smoke, so my only displeasure is that some of the events I wanted to attend were or the two smoking floors and required me to go in and out so that the faint smell did not cause me difficulty. Please note that the faint smell did not bother most people, and probably would not bother 99.9 but as always, cigarette smoke can cause headaches for me. Excursions were professional and fun! Joining my niece and her two girls for Spring break motivated us to book this cruise along with its convenience as we live in Manhattan. Overall I'd rate this experience under the "meh" category. I'm not a fan of these megaships and this confirmed my feeling. Way too many people, service not at Celebrity or Cunard standard for suite guests and, in some food venues, literally ineatable food. Haven concierges are helpful and it's good for embarkation and disembarkation. When I say ineatable I mean ineatable. Steak in Manhattan Room tasted like detergent. The Haven menu sounded good and rarely delivered in quality. Food all felt overly processed and not at what you pay for at Haven rates. Service in the Haven restaurant, though a pleasant room inside and outside dining, didn't live up to what it should be. This is my first cruise on Norwegian. Since I've done 2 RCL last year, those experiences were still fresh on my mind so I compare the three ships. Sadly I must say that Norwegian is like many had lamented, lagging behind other leading cruise lines now. Ship: Escape is quite impressive in size and plan. I like the water slides/park, rope course, and very nice mini golf course. Escape also seems to be rocking harder at similar weather, and definitely shakes (at 6th floor MDR you can clearly feel the tremble - as if someone's shaking legs at your table, and you can feel it at times even in the 16th floor Garden Cafe!). Can't help but think of the listing incident. Our last day had huge wind - 70+ miles, waves several meters high, but we were safe. I do like the casino not being as smelly as some other ships, and the atrium always having some interesting activities. Summary: RCL wins because they offer surf simulator and flight simulator. Skating rinks, rock climbing etc. And overall smoother ride. Cabin: Had mini suite on Escape, and Balcony on Allure/Anthem. I like Escape's cabin number plate, with "make up room", "at home", "do not disturb" indicators. Size wise they seem similar, but mini suite had bigger/nicer bathroom. The biggest complaints I have against Escape are listed further down in cabin review Summary: Easy win for RCL here. Food: MDR was a semi-disaster. Even if you go there at an early time, you might have to wait a bit to get in. The menu had few things special usually, and you have to wait a super long time for any course. The waiting staff were slow refilling (my water glass was empty and 10 mins past no one filled it up. I finally got a chance to ask the waitress and it took another 10 mins to get it). It was so bad that after the first 2 days, we went to Garden Cafe pretty much all the time. Norwegian claimed "Nobody does dining like Norwegian". They're right - we haven't seen a slower MDR on Carnival, RCL, or Celebrity! Anthem/Allure MDR was quite efficient and always had something interesting to order. I think it's not that Escape staff was bad, but they seem very short on hand in MDR. One waiter has to deal with many tables. It almost makes one think Norwegian deliberately drove traffic to Garden Cafe. But at least Garden Cafe is its saving grace. It's much better than RCL's horrendous windjammer. There's barely any long lines in Garden Cafe AND never ever had one had to wait outside the Cafe waiting to get in. Windjammer of RCL is small and jampacked, had food that's not that good and a few times had lines 20-30 mins long waiting outside to get in! We ended up mostly using MDR on RCL. Summary: RCL edges out, only slightly. Much better buffet on Escape can't fully compensate for the huge lack of finer dining option (sans paying extra for specialty dining). Entertainment: We booked every show, including escape room (you should book them right after you get on ship, in the box office) on Escape. The main, Broadway-quality show, After Midnight - nearly everyone of us fell asleep during some part of it. It's great singing, great showcase of jazz. But not including other music style AND without a real plot made it boring. The comedy shows were fine, same quality as other ships. The staff talent show - I was wowed. Grace from the O'Sheehan packed a powerful voice. She's in the wrong line of work and deserves a better stage. The Chinese dancer was quite professional and chose music nicely with good choreography. The magician was fine. Later ones were not as good but still quite impressive. The Knights - a huge letdown. They picked mostly obscure songs from the most famous knighted singers, and the few that were famous, you can't tell until the 3rd line! Somehow they managed to take every song and sign it in their own way, and not a good way! Their voices were ranging from OK to very good, but they shouldn't be singing pop songs. One of them should be belting out Broadway hits instead. Dizzy the magician was great! He's really funny and had some very nice tricks that I still scratch my head. But the real surprise was Choir of Men. I never heard of them before but they were fantastic! Like Knights, they took famous songs and sang in their own way, except it's a very good way! One of the Knights member joked at the end of their show said a Choir of Men member "came to watch their show on his off day, just to see how it shouldn't be done". It's actually true. Where Knights failed miserably, Choir of Men triumphed. From a powerful rendition of Adele's Hello to touching love ballade (not sure whose song was it). They chose different voices for different songs and nailed most of them. The bar tender, sadly, did not have a great voice but was tasked on two songs not well suited for him, particularly Sia's Chandelier?? He couldn't really do it, despite the nice harmony created by the team. But overall this is a 5-star show. I'd say don't miss Dizzy's show and definitely not Choir of Men! Activities wise it's similar to RCL, and the atrium big screen is nice for both simultcast and other activities. Summary: RCL still wins out easily. Anthem had We will rock you and Allure betters with Mamma Mia. Both had some impressive acts flown in to perform some shows and every show on RCL ships were quite good. The escape room on Escape is very similar to the one in 270 on Anthem, so that's even. Pool: Didn't really use it much. Hot tub usually quite busy, including spice H2O. The waterfall was quite gimmicky. Summary: RCL edges out slightly with bigger and better equipped solarium vs the small spice H2O. Fitness: Escape has decent size, and better classes at a slightly lower price for unlimited. It's way more packed the first two days than both of the RCL ships too. But one equipment had a bad seat from beginning till end of cruise despite that they said they called it in a while ago. Summary: This might be the only Norwegian win here. Port: Bermuda is nice! I like the beaches all looking different. View from lighthouse was very nice too. We heard various opinions that said Elbow Beach had the pinkest sand, or Horseshoe had the pinkest sad. But as we discovered, Jobson's Cove definitely had the pinkest sand of the 3, and possibly all beaches! One thing though - don't pick up anything translucent on the beach. And if you don't have place for your snorkeling gear, don't worry. Most of the beaches had few fishes. Horseshoe had like 10, Jobson's Cove had 4. My son said he saw more fish at the Garden Cafe... (There is actually reasonable number of fish at Tobacco Bay though, which has nice rock formations too). BTW surprisingly, even though the water's cold, once you get in, it wasn't so bad. On nice sunny April days, you can swim. We didn't book any excursions and didn't feel the need to. Took Escape's ferry to St. George and most other times were using public bus and ferry (bought bus tickets in post office). That was fine - the bus was slow and no clear schedule at individual stops, so we took taxi at times too. Final verdit: While we enjoyed our trip quite a bit, Norwegian was disappointing as it had the same price as RCL but definitely failed to provide the same entertainment and service. Read Less

Service at Cagneys on our second specialty reservation was awful. Any ways we had a great time on her. I was not impressed with the casino staff, I had requested my points to be transferred from the other ships but only one was forwarded. Gem is a beautiful ship! I’m not sure if I wanna sail on her again. It’s a maybe or maybe not... Gem had a great refurbishment. I love Osheehans it’s my go to bar lol! I’m not sure why the bar stops serving alcoholic beverages at 2am. Osheehans service could can be on a slow side during lunchtime, and around the wee hours. My best friend and I booked this cruise super last minute. We toyed with the idea of going on a cruise for sometime, however, hadn't actually booked anything till maybe a month before our embarkation date. As a first time cruiser- I had my hesitations, not going to lie! I was afraid of being sea sick and stuck on a boat with thousands of people and kids and norovirus! Now looking back, I cannot believe I questioned going on a cruise at all! Overall, this was truly an epic trip. I cannot wait to cruise again on the Escape for Halloween 2019! Dining- I did not get the specialty dining package- somewhat of a regret, however the dining that is included is perfectly adequate for the average person. My favorite dessert was the honey creme brûlée at Savor. The molten lava cake was also a hit. Service- Exceptional! From our steward to the entire crew, we experienced excellent service. Everyone went out of their way to make this trip a great experience. Special shout out to Mandi our cruise director! Entertainment- Loved the nightly themed parties. Loved Mandi the cruise director. Loved the shows. Take me back! Shore excursions- Only did the cave/aquarium/zoo excursion- but it was definitely worth it. Our tour guide driving to the caves was resourceful, and our tour guide at the excursion itself was a riot. Read Less

Our Bermuda trip was sadly detoured because of hurricane Florence. We were OK with going to Bahamas, but at the last minute, we didn't stop there. It was upsetting that we didn't get any credits for missing ports. My friend on Carnival received a $50 credit for a port she missed on her cruise last month. Restaurants - -The new tapas bar Pincho was my favorite hidden gem. The menu is exceptional, so I didn't understand why it was always empty. I think many of the cruisers don't understand the tapas concept, but I hope they don't close it. The restaurant closed early at 10pm. As a tapas restaurant, it should be open much later! The best things on the menu were the scallops, shrimp, tomato bread, grilled sirloin, and salmon. The sangria was amazing too. -Bayamo, the new seafood restaurant was a big disappointment. The servers werent properly trained and we were often without silverware and empty glasses. The huge crab legs for $8 were a steal and delicious. The oyster rockfellers were very disappointing. The thermal spa was a peaceful sanctuary away from the ship chaos. I do not regret getting the a spa room. The mini golf is a bit dated and wish they would upgrade it. The breakfast at the buffet it the best. The buffet lunch was very bland and everything was very salty. I wish there was more healthy food at the free restaurants. Everything seem very salty and cream heavy. The music was fantastic all over the ship. My favorite was Orly who played Santana hits in the atrium. There was a great columbian duo in the Manhattan room. I liked how they dont rush you through the manhattan room and you can linger as long as you like. The comedy shows were all sold out immediately and the standby lines started over an hour before the show. I wish they would put a better system in place so people dont waste so much time standing around. It seems like NCL is moving to an entirely a la carte model as more dining and entertainment come with a fee. Read Less

We picked Norwegian cruise to Bermuda, because the Boston port and Bermuda schedule (2 overnights stay in Bermuda), so we can spend more time in Bermuda and beautifully beaches. Dawn is a middle size ship and kind old. The breakfast was great and late night shows were very good. Not too much activities we were interested, one small swim pool with too many people (hot pools too). Most disappointment was the food in dining room, we did not enjoyed. Didn’t heard any good feedback about the Chinese restaurant too (actually really bad). I don’t understand why can they pick a better chef? Food is very important to us for the trip. So we end up eating at a 24 hours bar restaurant for dinner. The room service was outstanding. Staff was very nice on the ship, they worked very hard with long hours and still smile. A lot of bingo games on the ship, they sell a lot of tickets but with small amount of winners in my opinions. Read Less

I have cruised 15 times prior to this cruise on 3 other lines so I have lots to compare my experience to. There are only a couple of areas that I thought were better than past cruises. PROS: * Selection of food at the Garden Café buffet. They have all types of hot, cold, international, grilled, soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. The staff there was also exceptional where they will bring you beverages or help carry your plate to your table. * Our O/V family stateroom had double sinks and a tub! (See more below in my cabin review) * Howl at the Moon piano bar was fantastic. * Bermuda, although very expensive, was absolutely gorgeous and would go back! * Heritage Wharf, where we docked, is a great little area if you want to some light shopping, eat and drink outside the ship without taking a cab. There's even a free trolley that makes stops along the way if you have difficulty walking. Also, Snorkel Park is a man made beach about a 5-7 min walk from the ship where they have chair and watersports rentals, food and drinks for $5 admission. The only bad thing is that it is VERY rocky to go in and out of the water, BRING WATER SHOES!! CONS: (This may take a while) 1) The embarkation process could have been so much faster had NCL had you set up your onboard account online. 2) Big issue with wine I put in my luggage. NCL policy on the site reads as follows "Guests may bring bottles of wine and champagne on board. When bottles are brought on board and served or consumed in any restaurant, public room area or in their stateroom, a corkage fee will be charged according to bottle sizes" When I opened my luggage I was greeted with a paper saying I violated the policy and my bottle was confiscated and will not be returned until I pay the fee or they will hold it until the end of the trip. WHAT VIOLATION??? You said I could bring it on board!!!! I spoke with management and they apologized and opened it free of charge. 3) No straws on board. In an effort to clean up the environment, NCL has stopped using plastic straws. This is a great thing but there should be a metal or paper replacement for those with medical conditions who need them and at least wooden stirrers to stir the drinks. 4) WiFi is horrific! My roommate got the Social Media package and paid $88 for a week of almost unusable service. 5) If you are not near the pool area, no one will come around to take a drink order. I was a deck over and a bit forward from the main pool for about 3 hours and not one person came by. 6) There is only 1 main pool which is about the size of my neighbor's pool. Try fitting 4,000 ppl around there. Aside from that, kids take over that pool and the hot tubs when they have their own water park and same size pool. 7) The design of the ship is absolutely horrible and it’s too just too big yet it was designed for a lot less people. a)There are only elevators at the front and back of the ship. I went with someone who uses a cane and has trouble walking a lot or using stairs. When she had to go from the middle of the ship on one deck to the middle on another deck, she would have to walk back to one of the elevator banks and walk back across. b) The buffet is set up only in the back of the ship whereas other ships have buffets spread out across the middle and back so you don't have to walk a mile for food and drinks. c) There is only 1 towel stand to get your pool towels from. d) THE JOGGING TRACK! My biggest pet peeve. How do you have a track going around a regular deck, just over the main pool, where there are lounge chairs, a restaurant, bar and even service bins being moved??!!! To avoid this I got up at 5:30AM only to find they had just hosed it down making it impossible to run without slipping because it's just a wooden deck (not a rubber track) UNREAL!!! e) The sliding doors do not open automatically, you had to tap a button on the door or wall. If you were carrying drinks or food, it was very inconvenient. f) We were lucky enough to have a cabin on the same deck as the kids clubs. They were running around top speed at all hours and even chose to start knocking the cabin doors at midnight. When we opened the door and yelled at them, they called the cabin and hung up. WHY WOULD YOU PUT KIDS ACTIVITIES ON THE SAME DECK AS CABINS???!!!! 8) They nickel and dime you for everything!! a) Subpar food in all dining rooms and service, while pleasant is EXTREMELY SLOOOOOOW! Breakfast, in less than half empty dining room, took more than 30 mins on 3 occasions; Waited 25 mins for drinks one night that came after the meal was served and on the last sea day I went to Food Republic for lunch to go as soon as they opened and ordered 3 items on the same ticket yet each one was brought to me 10 mins apart and they somehow seemed very confused. However, when we chose to pony up to go the a la carte Italian restaurant, the food was very good but the portions were on the small side. EX. My friend ordered the gnocchi app ($8) and there were 5, yes FIVE, regular sized gnocchi on the plate. I got the entree sized portion Linguini Cioppino ($15) and was rewarded with 1 clam, 1 mussel, and cut up pieces of shrimp and fish and about 4 forkfuls of pasta. b) Want to go to a show on board? You can catch a free one at 12:30PM or 6PM. Oh, what's that? You're out exploring the island, poolside or having dinner? No worries, you can pay us $20 to come at 9PM. c) Rip off shore excursions. $45 for a 4 hour trip to the popular beach about 30 mins away. No thanks, I went outside to the government regulated mini buses (Prices are posted and they cannot rip you off) and paid $7 each way and stayed the entire day. Bermuda island tour $109 PER PERSON for 5 hours through NCL...went the next day to the same stand and got a 6 hour tour for $60. BOOM! 9) The freestyle thing is not for us. We like going to the same dining room (with the exception of maybe another special meal), at the same time and having the same waiters that know your name and preferences. I like getting dressed up for dinner and going for "a night out" and I just didn't feel it on this ship. I've heard this is pretty much the way they operate all their ships so needless to say, we will not be back on NCL. Despite the mixed reviews, we gave it shot and were highly disappointed. Read Less

I was excited to travel from New York to Bermuda on this new ship but it was not an experience that I would recommend. I would not recommend traveling with Carnival or taking this particular ship. If you do, bring your patience, there will be a lot of waiting and subpar service. I was disappointed from the check in line. It took over an hour to get through the check in (maybe if you get there earlier you will wait less. Idk). After the check-in, the trip was an endless experience of waiting for elevators, a seat at breakfast in the Lido Marketplace, a lounge chair at the pool side movie, a cabana in the adult-only resort, everything! It was just lots of people and slow service (waiting 20 minutes to order a drink at the bar). Additionally, the service was bad and awkward. We did dine on your own time dining, the dining room was on one floor but the reservation spot was two floors up and around a corner (did I mention the slow elevators). The app did help with this but we used the app several days and we would get to the dining room (on-time) and they had reassigned our table, tried to sit us at tables that were already seated, and we waited 10 or more minutes once seated for service. One night, they told that they just sat two large parties and would have to wait a while for bread and water. The hostess was rude, unapologetic, and often acted distracted. Once seated, we waited a long time and the food was not good. We tried almost all the restaurants, Guys Burger Joint was by far the best (and free). The Seafood spot had a long line and did not have all the items on the menu. The pizza was also very good (20+ minute wait in the line). We stayed in the Family Harbor area, the lounge was also packed always (no seats, plates, silverware available). The scheduled food service in that lounge was inconsistent. One day, they did not bother to put food in the lounge at all. We ordered room service and the wait time was incredible 1.5 hours once and 45 minutes the other time (Our 2 year old was on a PBJ binge and without being able to access the family lounge -- room service became the only other place). We had massages in the spa. We waited 30 minutes past our appointment time to be seen (paid over $300) but later that day they gave us a $50 gift card that we could not use on the previous service. So, I recommend waiting until the end of the cruise to book any spa services in case they give any discounts later in the cruise. Finally, we pre-paid for the PixelMax before sailing and I have a $644 charge for pictures that I need to call and dispute. Not the vacation that I imagined. Two things worked well, Camp Ocean and our room stewart was good. Read Less

We live in RI & had not yet visited Bermuda. I had been watching HLAV “deals” out of Boston, published by HLA, in the past and then heard the ship would be changing their IT BOS-Bermuda out of Hamilton. We grabbed the last sail & spent a wonderful 3 full days, 3 nights on this lovely island. The Bermudians are kind & friendly, Hamilton is near center of either end for convenience & the Veendam has wonderful staff, clean & well maintained, nice variety of entertainment throughout the evening (DJ in Crowsnest late night, classical in Explorer lounge day & evening, jazz in the Ocean lounge and popular/sing along in another. The shows in the comfortable, soft seating theater were very well done & included fantastic magician, comedian, singing & dance broadway caliber which I did not expect for a smaller ship. We dined on the main dining room every night and always had a very good dinner with extensive variety to choose from. Everyone at the table seemed pleased with their order. The Lido Market buffet is served by servers and there was very little wait to get anything in any amount you desired. I feel strongly that the buffet servering keeps ships illness down. The buffet has plexiglass in front of the food choices so that passengers do not handle or breath on the food. Great way to do it. Hand sanitizing dispensers all around the ship! Our inside cabin was quiet & plenty of room for 2. We did not have food down beds on the walls so that opens it up. Shower was fine with shampoo, conditioner & body wash on the wall. Upon arrival the phone in the cabin was on the blink & was changed out. There was plenty of lighting, a TV with a few news channels, ship’s related channels, movie channels, etc.. A book in the room listed 200+ Popular movies you could plug into the DVD player. You got your next days ship’s IT nightly (with a little chocolate & animal towel design). Wonderful robes ready to use, plenty of closet space and I brought a combo of at least 25 outfits! Not that you need it but was not sure about the weather & wanted to be comfortable on ship’s promenade deck where we lounged on the traditional teak chairs (which could use thicker cushions). We did 1 excursion & toured Bermuda & beaches by bus. Embark & disembark well organized. Captain very personable. Fitness room state of the art, programs free & interesting. Veendam has a dedicated card table room for bridge & other table games which I have not seen on larger ships. I was very happy my husband could find a few bridge games. There is also a large open room dedicated to games, puzzles & CHESS already set up 4 chess tables not to mention a GIANT CHESS game set up in the large pool area! An adult hot tub area is on ship’s AFT as well with a bar, seating & handmade NY style thin crust pizza! Delicious! Given it’s an older ship, it is well maintained, great size to navigate around and stylish. Ready to go with you to Venice Italy when you get there! Veendam has all the small ship personality you could hope for plus big ship activities & entertainment. It’s a classy operation & the passengers love Holland. No, We so not work for or with them, yes We paid for my trip and absolutely gave our fabulous stewards a healthy tip (on top of the mandated ship’s tips) because they were in that cabin 2-3 times a day making the cruise a very special experience! Check in was fairly efficient. Size of room smaller than some other inside staterooms of other cruise lines. Cable TV and movie selection very limited. Shockingly no electric outlets at or near nightstands. Since I require had to power my CPAP machine Attendant had to string a large and unsightly extension cord all the way across the room. Huge water bottles to sell occupy too much space and our room had no table which we requested from the attendant. Robes in the room and the spa were way too small. Took 2 days to find one that fit. Takes forever to get hot water in the stateroom bathroom. Lots of wasted water. Canyon Ranch spa on this ship inferior to the Cunard line. Therapy pool smaller and open to everyone so water wasn’t clean. The only advertised excursions we wanted were inexplicably cancelled. Food and beverage service was hit and miss. First lunch at sea in the main dining room was a disaster. Guests waited in line over 30 minutes just to be seated and service and food quality was atrocious. Staff were working hard but it was clearly understaffed. Lunch on day 2 much improved and dinner service was fine. I bought the premium beverage package and wine choices too limited and quality not what was promised. While in port the main dining room was closed for lunch and all guests were forced to eat at the very crowded cafeteria for three days. Very disappointing. Also the only internet service offered was continuous which means guests are forced to spend a minimum $29 per hour even if you only need to log on for a few minutes. Worst plan of any cruise I’ve seen so I eschewed internet service completely. Read Less

Taste - main dining area day 2: My scrambled eggs and cheese were cold and they forgot my toast. Oddly they brought a gravy boat of shredded cheese rather than cooking it in my scrambled eggs. Manager, Moises, sent some wine and sweet treats to our room to apologize. Very classy and we appreciated it. Spa Zero spa shoes Zero lockers Zero access to thermal spa during appt Coed relaxation rooms There was some sort of detox seminar/tours to sell a service which is fine except that they hold it in the the relaxation room which isnt very relaxing for those of us trying to relax. Services were nice but overpriced for lack of additional amenities (like Thermal Spa usage with appt) Lots of upselling after appt with prices excessive for products. Amazon is much better for products over ship pricing. Sky bar has most of the late night activities but it's in n the middle of the casino so the smoke made me leave immediately. Most of the staff seemed very confused when asking where something was on the ship. So much so that after asking 3 people for directions where the sky lounge was, we never located it and missed the singles meet and greet. Not enough chairs on the ship so you have to wake up at the crack of dawn to claim your chairs. Vibe only allows for 100 people and though it has nice chairs, it only has a hot tub and no pool. All in all I'd rank the trip 4/5. Btw, our steward was Harvey and he was amazing. Read Less

We sailed on Celebrity Summit 39 Jan - 7 May 2018 to Bermuda. We booked Concierge class cabin as we wanted a mid ship cabin and all other balcony cabins were booked. The extras given for Concierge class are definitely not worth paying the additional money for. The only good thing about Concierge Class is that you have a dedicated personal concierge member of staff who deals with your complaints immediately. Our concierge employee was MOLBY D SOUZA - he was brilliant in dealing with all our issues very quickly and effectively. Problem with Concierge Class - Lunch for embarkation day - We were not told we had to be on ship by 1.30 and so missed this. We were looking forward to it and had missed breakfast to enjoy it. Canapes - tiny pieces from buffet - ridiculous to call the canapes - we could just fetched a few bits from the buffet Even though we informed Celebrity I was vegan and made sure it was noted - I was sent meat canapes Air conditioning in cabin was only blowing cold - not good on first day as it was cold in New York. Dressing gowns far too big - (Probably fit xxxxL) and long and heavy Extra hairdryer - not much use to a couple when husband has very short hair - not needed BInoculors - broken and not needed Pillow menu - ridiculous and not needed Water coming out brown one day s0 could not have shower and leave cabin for over 2 hours Intermittant ewerage smell on Deck * near 8071 - 8069 Final day tour cancelled due to lack of participation - new tour offered at an extra 50 dollars each All the above issues were dealt with by Molby (Our dedicated Concierge employee) Thank goodness for him - it saved us running around trying to get things sorted. The Summit was ok - However not enough vegetarian or vegan selection in buffet restaurant - not even soya milk presented or stevia sweetener. Read Less

The ship is beautiful, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. There were plenty of on board activities throughout the week. The entertainment staff keeps you on your toes and laughing through the entire week, the shows and performers were all amazing. We dined at the Venetian, Aqua, and Bamboo The food was delicious, sometimes it took a bit for us to get our food after ordering however we also went at busy times .Restaurant staff was friendly and attentive. We ended our nights at Bliss Lounge and enjoyed the fun there. The DJ played some of the same songs night after night, but we still had a ton of fun. The only thing we didn't like was the pool deck area was taken over by children a lot of the time, and the hot tubs would have been much more enjoyable if there wasn't many children in them. I joined friends who happened to choose this sailing. I was happy to spend time with them, see Bermuda for the first time, and check out a different ship. I was very, very impressed with the Spectra's Cabaret show. Fantastic dancing and great music. I highly recommend sitting right down in front. You'll have to crane around a bit to see all the action, but it was a ton of fun to be right in the action. The Rock of Ages show was very good. It was a bit hit and miss through much of it, but finished really well. It helps a great deal if you love Queen's music as I do. I found The Gift confusing and the music only sometimes interesting, but I was also falling asleep and left after 15 minutes. The skydiving was great. A really interesting experience. The training was good and it was a very well organized event that felt very safe. Everyone was very supportive -- both staff and other cruisers. The North Star provided a mildly interesting new vantage point, but wasn't overly interesting. I enjoyed the food and was generally pleased with the variety and quality in both the main dining room and the Windjammer, with one, minor exception: My wife and I have come to enjoy the cold fruit soups -- a different one at every dinner on past cruises. This cruise had only one on board that was offered only at lunch in the main dining room. The Windjammer got unpleasantly crowded at peak times, particularly around 9:30ish and Noon. The organization of the Mytime dining was sometimes painfully poor. We waited nearly 45 minutes to be seated one night, despite having reservations. The worst problem was the really very surprising to me habit of playing very loud music for a song or two in the main dining room while announcements were made. I was very, very surprised by how loud it was. And I'm not that much of a stick in the mud. We ate in only one high-end restaurant: Izumi. The food was great, but not better than one could get in many sushi restaurants. I was pleased that the Pub had a cider option and at least a couple of interesting beers. The $14 Rye flight may be the best alcohol deal on the ship -- or maybe we just got lucky with some very heavy pours. The casino was using 6:5 payouts for blackjacks at the tables with low ($10) minimums, which I find pretty annoying. The $25 and $50 tables used the standard 3:2 payout. The shuffling is done by hand rather than using the automatic shufflers commonly found in Las Vegas, which is nice if you want to try your hand at card counting. In Bermuda I went on a non-RCI tour run by Heidi Cowen, which I greatly enjoyed. http://www.bermudafootsteps.com/ She is an animal lover and a local with a lot of love for her Island, but also willing to share the unvarnished truths -- positive and negative. Embarking was easy, my Emerald status got us into a line at 11:30 with no waiting. Disembarking was surprisingly slow. We were using self-carry, but still got stuck in very long lines to walk off the ship. In the past I've been able to just walk off whenever I like. I think if I'd timed the departure earlier, that wouldn't have been the case. The fitness center was very well stocked. The faux window in our interior cabin was fantastic. I was surprised how well it worked -- allowing in the morning light beautifully. Read Less

My wife and I chose this cruise because we had such a great experience on our last two cruises with Royal Caribbean we had to come back. We have gone three times in the past fifteen months. We find the fares are more than reasonable. Boarding the ship is easy and secure as same as disembarkment. The cabins are spacious very kept up and housekeeping is friendly and very accommodating. The room service is fast and friendly. The ship's crew we have encountered are very friendly and knowledgeable. You cannot ask for a better dining experience, they have it down to a science. We will be back again and again. I have sailed with several cruise lines and I like them all but Royal Caribbean to me is head and shoulders above the rest so far. I have sailed with a group of family members and with my wife. We all feel the same Royal does a great job. Read Less

I read many negative comments about this cruise prior to the sailing and I wasn't sure if I had made the right choice, but I can tell you i had a great time. Yes, some areas are more crowdy and some restaurant services are slower than the others but there are over 4000 people on the boat! The staffs are friendly and helpful and food was definitely better than other cruise lines. I highly recommend the Moderno, the Brazilian restaurant, the food was so delicious, especially the salad bar, the service was excellent and if you are seated by the window you can watch the sunset while dining. The steakhouse is located right next to Moderno but way more popular and the service was slower than the Moderno. If I go back to the steakhouse again I would make the reservation more toward the beginning of the week than the later of the week. The Mahattan dining room service was way more better than the Savor, where the wait time for the food was just too long. Teppanaki was very entertaining and the food was good but it can be little too noisy if you are going for a quiet dinner. I wouldn't go back to the Le Bistro because the food was just average and the service was almost none existent that I almost walked out. That's not what I expected of a French restaurant. Just to get a glass of wine took forever! I bought the unlimited spa package to relax but it wasn't quiet and relaxing as I expected. The noise from the jacuzzis and the people were just irritating. The hot stone seats are limited to thirty minutes and sometimes you have to wait just to find an empty one. I paid $200 extra! It's better to get one nice massage and save money. One more thing, I've been on four cruises prior to this one, and by far this embarkation and disembarkation process was the most quickiest one ever. My family got the call to leave the ship at 8:20 and we were in taxi by 8:50! Read Less

We never went on a 5 days bermuda cruise from bayonne port and were nervous a little how would we park the car, how far the parking is, how much time is needed, etc.we drove from pittsburgh, pa and it couldn't be easier. So well organized! We had our carry-ons and it took us 20 min the most to get to our room, which was ready by 1 p.m!!!! Our room was on deck 6, with balcony and obstructed view . It didn't bother us at all. The room was very spacious, with an extra closet!! It is so convenient. 1 is for me and 1 is for my husband. A lot of drawers also. Very comfortable.worked for us. People always can find something. But we try to see good things. Yes, it's a very small space between the bed and the balcony door, but we've got an extra closet! There are a lot of food on the ship for any taste! Everybody, absolutely everybody can find food, which will satisfy their tastes. They are trying very, very hard to accommodate you. Yes, sometimes we didn't like what we ordered, to be precise, what we expected, but either we ordered another dish, or later went to the buffet and always found something to satisfy cravings. People who are so picky about their food shouldn't go on cruise at all, be flexible, enjoy. The wonderland restaurant deserves standing ovation. What a concept! What an experience! Traveled a lot, saw a lot, ate in many places, nothing similar. Try it. Shows on the ship are amazing. Book in advance all 3 of them: the gift, spectre's we will rock you. We didn't take excursions, just hired a private driver with a taxi and saw what we wanted. This amazing ship is for everybody, for any taste, for any age, for any level of physical shape. Of course, there is always a space for improvement. But it's a good thing. We always can ask nicely, the waiter or customer service person is only a human. But we had a great experience overall!!!!! We took this cruise as a last minute deal to get away from Hurricane Irma. Had a wonderful time on board. Shows were great, food way to good, and staff was friendly and hospitable. What a way to ride out the storm. The fine dining was great except for the way you now get a certificate and can only choose one salad-or- soup. In the main dining room, you can order whatever you want, as much, or little, as you like. Fine dining is limited and sometimes I'd love to have a soup and salad. You have to pay extra. Not quite worthwhile when the main dining and buffet areas have such fabulous items too. The port is so easy to get around - just walk off and you're already in a fort. Jump on the free water shuttle to go to St. George's. Overall a fabulous cruise. Love NCL. Read Less

I am very loyal to Carnival Cruise Lines because their service, food, entertainment, and itineraries are consistently outstanding. The last time (before this cruise) I cruised Norwegian was back in 2003. I was thoroughly disappointed with the service, the plasticware on the top deck cafeteria, and the stateroom not being made up until 2:30 in the afternoon, if made up at all during the day. I WON this cruise at a local Casino and decided to see if the cruise line had made any improvement over the past decade and a half. So, I booked the room and even though Hurricane Irma was going strong, they notified us that we were definitely heading to Bermuda. I was pleasantly surprised. The Embarkation went smoothly and quickly. The staff was friendly on land as well as on the ship. Overall, we ended up having a blast and the Service in the stateroom and dining rooms was superb. We had smooth seas and 85+ degree temperatures. Smooth sailing upon our return as well. No longer is plasticware the norm in the Garden Cafe, but silverware IS. The keep it on each individual table. The Entertainment was excellent. Musicians in all ensembles were professional and sounded great! They have LIVE MUSICIANS in most of their Stage Productions as well. We truly enjoyed all shows. The Fitness Center had decent equipment, though it was difficult to locate on the first day. The Elliptical machines were challenging, and there were only 3 exercise bikes available. The Casino was very good to us Blackjack players, though expect a smoky atmosphere if you're planning on staying for a while. The food was average at best. Everything we ate was either "just ok" or dry. The ONLY entree that was palatable was the the Prime Rib. THAT was done to perfection. Most offerings were quite salty, from soups to entrees. Our Servers was consistently professional The BATHROOMS in the stateroom are luxurious and large. There are sliding door to separate the sink from the toilet and shower. Smart design. The remainder of the room is tiny. TV selections are poor. There are 2 movie channels, a news channel, and one "TV Station" that showed mostly cartoons. Overall, we had a blast! SERVICE was EXCELLENT. Will definitely consider cruising with Norwegian again..... and maybe not even wait 15 years to do so! Read Less

We chose this cruise because it sailed out of Baltimore,MD and the destination was Bermuda. Upon arriving in Baltimore,MD at the port we were greeted with excellent service and smiles. The ship was awesome. It was impeccably clean and well staffed. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our luggage was delivered promptly to our stateroom before we sailed. Our oceanview cabin 2064 was excellent. It was very clean, the bed was firm. There was plenty of storage space available in the closet, the drawers and in the bathroom. The dining on the ship was also very good. The Windjammer buffet offered the usual cruise like food. There was plenty of variety to choose from. The food was very fresh. Dining in the Great Gatsby dining room was great! The food was definitely gourmet. It was well prepared and presented. The dining room staff was very attentive. Greeted you with smiles throughout dinner. They made sure that you enjoyed your meal. The ship had plenty activities to choose from. You can relax at the sun deck, shop, or engage in the activities that were offered. We did not travel with children. I can't comment about the children's activities or services because we didn't use them. The age group on the ship varied from 25-70. Definitely an adult like cruise. The port at Bermuda Heritage Wharf was very nice and clean. It offers shopping and snorkel beach for those who did not want to venture out to Horshoe Bay upon arrival. Definitely do the excursion to Horseshoe Bay. It is absolutely beautiful. We were docked for two days. We chose to relax, however there are plenty of tours offered. It was a FANTASTIC cruise. Can't wait to sail again. Read Less

We Will Rock You was great. Scheduling for the show and seating for the show went very smoothly. We enjoyed the performance so much, we went back another night to see it again. I appreciate being asked to wash my hands immediately before walking into the Windjammer Marketplace. Hand washing provided an extra level of cleanliness that other cruise lines do not have.Kudos for encouraging this to your passengers. Although we did not need wheelchair accommodations or gluten free food options, we were glad to see these options available for others who need them. We liked the flexibility of taking our meals on our schedule and not at a fixed time. It made our dining experience much more enjoyable. Glad to see a talent show offered . Read Less

I traveled with my husband and daughters. My husband and I had a Penthouse suite aft, and our daughters had a balcony room. Our suite was fantastic! Our butler, Ray, was the best!! If we needed anything at all he was at our room in minutes. Alex took care of our daughters' room and he was awesome! The food on the ship was very good. Our favorite meal was enjoyed at La Cucina - highly recommended. We enjoyed Clara on most evenings in the Gatsby Bar, or tried our luck at the Casino. Our daughters, 18 & 20, had a great time at the Bliss Lounge at night and met others their age that they could hang out with. We also enjoyed the company of Jerry and Maria at the Wine Bar - we would stop in and have a glass of wine before dinner - great people and very knowledgeable. We participated in a wine tasting one afternoon and had a lot of fun. The reasons I have for not giving my review 5 stars is this: 1) The pool area is far too crowded and passengers are ALLOWED to place towels and belongings on the lounge chairs in order to hold them. This is very frustrating when you are looking to sit for a while and there are plenty of chairs empty of people, but occupied by towels! NCL needs to enforce some sort of policy to make it fair for all passengers to be able to lounge by the pool. 2) The lack of bottled water, or the limited access to it, is very problematic. I felt as though I was thirsty the entire time. 3) And lastly, I feel as though I would want to enjoy at least one more day on Bermuda. I took the cruise way back in the day when the Norwegian Majesty was still around, and we spent 3 1/2 days on Bermuda, not just 2 1/2. The trip back to Boston felt really long, even though we had fun onboard, we would have appreciated a little more time on the island. Overall, this was a very fun cruise for all of us. We all had a blast and can't wait to take this cruise again. I would recommend this cruise to everyone. Read Less
