We choose Viking because it is a cut above the other cruise liners. The service is A one. The passengers are classy. Beautiful people. Crew, and passengers. There are no tacky gimmicks, like cheap art auctions, gambling, or crappy jewelry hawkers We are going on a round the world cruise with Viking in January 2018. Yay! We did not travel with our children. Yes we would go again, and again as long as it is Viking! The food was fantastic. Portions were very normal. No one was gorging themselves like piggies. The crew were truly concerned with our safety. They were kind, considerate, friendly, helpful and honest. Crew made sure that every need was met. Our favorite was Javier! He was responsible for booking excursions. What a charming man When we went on a Princess cruise, well there is no comparison. Passengers on the Princess cruise were rude, dirty, no class and I wanted to leave the ship. Disgusting. Read Less

Let me preface this by explaining that this cruise was an all expense paid trip for us by a major tire company that booked the entire ship for their top performing independent retailers. We are accustomed to excellent service when we participate in these types of reward trips and this experience was no different. The entire staff of the Legend was top notch. Friendly and welcoming. The cabins were beautiful. This ship is indeed small by comparison to the mega ships. I have cruised on many different ships-on our dime-and this ship did not disappoint. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. We enjoyed the ship so much that oftentimes we never left. The islands we stopped at were very small and although quaint it was truly hard to pull ourselves away from the kind staff. We did venture out for a glass bottom kayak tour that had a great guide. The views from the kayak were stunning both looking into the water or just looking around. In St. Bart's we chose to rent our own catamaran for a group of 20. That was truly the highlight of our week. Generally I'm not one for going from one ship to then again another for an excursion but I was glad I did. Our group found the catamaran rental online and they were exactly as advertised. The catamaran was 62' and brand new. Even came with 4 jet skis to use. Open bar and excellent food all day. One night on the Legend the crew held a BBQ for us and even did some synchronized dancing along with the onboard band. There is little onboard entertainment like you find on the big ships but the Yacht Club was gorgeous and we had a lot of fun playing cards and chatting with other travelers in that space. The outdoor bar was great with a very friendly and engaging staff. I did go to the spa one time for a mani/pedi. Genn was so friendly and I truly enjoyed conversing with her. As for if I would go again? Probably not. Not because the ship isn't wonderful but because the tiny islands are rather limited in what you can do. I find many of the small islands to be very similar and I prefer more diverse ports of call. However, if you're looking for a small ship experience with a terrific staff and beautiful accommodations you won't be disappointed. Let me add that typically my husband prefers a suite or the penthouse. We do enjoy spending time in our cabin and having our travelers visit with us on our deck. This wasn't an option on this sailing and we still had a grand time. It certainly helped that we knew most of the people on our cruise and really enjoyed relaxing with them while still being able to have many a discussion about our trade. So glad we had the opportunity to sail on this beautiful small ship. Read Less
