I chose this cruise because I was looking for an inexpensive cruise option for first time cruise passengers as an Early Mother's Day gift for my mother and myself. Found the deal on Groupon for $249 for 2 with an "all inclusive stay aboard with an oceanview cabin room". After I did more research and found out about the governmental taxes and the gratuities and did my calculations which made it a little over $400, I was still on board. Made the purchase, contacted groupon to figure out how to redeem and book the cruise. After doing that, I was ready to go and very excited. Fast forward to our cruise date: my mother doesn't fly on planes but we don't live too far away to drive so I didn't mind driving the 13 hours to arrive at the port. We get there, its beautiful and were ready to board and maybe get back off until we actually set sail and look around palm beach right? No. We get waived into overnight parking and immediately get herded in like cattle. Rushed to the point that both of us were irritated and shouting "we've never done this before!" We were bewildered and just following the herding procedure they forced upon us. After getting inside and getting ready to go thru the metal detector and bag xray area, a ship employee in plain clothes who was apparently running late screams at me and my mother to put our bags on the conveyor belt and by this point my excitement was gone and I had had enough. After a stern look to the employee I apologized and asked if she wanted to go ahead. She said no smiled uncomfortably and asked us to put our bags on the conveyor belt again. We slammed our things thru and passed security and got upstairs to check in and receive our boarding pass card things. The attendant at the counter upstairs was a delight and very friendly and she eased our minds. We thought maybe we were just on edge from traveling and started to dismiss the rudeness from downstairs. After we received our room keys we went to board the ship and got harrassed at the hallway before the door about excursions, add on packages for alcohol, dining packages, photo packages, spa packages all very much priced out of our budget with an additional 18% gratuity. Oh and not to mention it says ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE that we HAVE to have a card on file for them to charge if we want something while on the ship that automatically puts a $100 hold on...oh and this card? This is the one that the initial $13.95 per person/per night gratuities are taken from. Not when you pay for the cruise, which makes absolutely no sense. I don't have a credit card. My mother had to put her credit card on file or we were not going to be allowed to board the ship. Once we board the ship we are told that the state rooms will NOT BE READY until 2pm and it was just now 11:30am. All I wanted to do was eat something and take a nap and allow myself to regroup and enjoy this experience which sucked so far. Were asked to go to the top deck where we are allowed to smoke cigarettes and purchase alcohol or we can go to the buffet area and get something to eat while we wait on our room. We go to the buffet which was ok, not the best but I have certainly seen worse at restaurants on land so I wasn't too disappointed. There were a lot of options available for picky eaters like myself. We sat down to eat and are asked in the 45 minute time frame that we are in the buffet area a total of 13 times all by different server/attendant people if we wanted to buy a $17 plastic cup that came with 2 alcoholic drinks of our choice. We declined so much that it was almost as if we were swatting them away like mosquitoes. They told us at 1pm that our rooms were ready so we made our way upstairs and only 1 of our 3 bags was in our room. The other 2 bags had mine and my mother's prescriptions as well as other important personal items and toiletries as well as most of our clothing and other items in them. We waited for about 30 minutes for the other bags to arrive and when they didn't, I stepped out and found and attendant who was bringing bags upstairs and I located our bags and brought them to our room. I changed clothes and fell asleep. When i woke up, there was a blaring intercom announcement with an extremely thick accent that we couldn't understand telling us to go to a room for a safety demonstration. It took about 45 minutes of more extremely thick accents and life vest demonstration before I could return to my room. I went back to my room and went back to nap. When I woke up it was raining and it never stopped. The entire time. Even when we arrived in the Bahamas, nothing. But. RAIN. All we were able to do was make 1 trip to the duty free shops and after going to a second souvenir type gift shop in the duty free area and the attendant argued about the price tag that was on the item and then refused us service. All we did was eat and sleep. The formal dining experience was lovely. Our waiters there were awesome. Food was wonderful. Live music was pretty good given that we didn't have many other choices for entertainment because it literally rained the entire time. Everything else was too expensive. The included amenities are fine if you're able to enjoy some time on the beach but I feel like if you get rained in, they should offer some other amenities that they normally charge for for free to build respect and confidence in the purchase. They didn't care about any of the passengers or whether or not they were enjoying themselves. We finally caved on the last day and bought a $17 cup each because there was literally nothing else to do so we figured let's drink right? No. The drinks were poorly mixed to where we couldn't even drink the whole drink each time we filled our cups. We had no idea where to find anything on the ship and what amenities were included with cruise fare. It was like a word search on the cruise itinerary to figure out what was included. This was so exhausting. I would've been more relaxed if I would've stayed home and my mother agreed. It was an old cruise ship and it was evident. The attendants were literally only worried about their 18% gratuity and treated us like cash cows. They nickel and dimed us to DEATH. Worst vacation experience ever I will never ever use this cruise line again. Even if it was free. I'd rather pay 4 grand to a reputable cruise line than use this trash again. It ruined my mother's day gift to my mother and made the experience horrible. Read Less

Food was mediocre. I had a prawn/shrimp dish, and none of the prawns had been cleaned properly. black tubes right up the middle. Organised tour of the island, showed us oil refinery, run down businesses, an airport with planes surprise surprise. A cement factory. The police station. Not the kind of tour that would impress anyone. Then for a lunch at a five star hotel. Burgers, hot dogs, some fancy cakes, cold tea, juice. The only highlight for me, was the beach at the hotel. lovely clean beach and really warm water. I will never cruise with this company again, everything you bought had 18.5% service charge added to it, and they still looked for a tip. 12$ per day was added to everyone in the party for room service so for the 4 of us we paid an extra 96$. This was my first cruise and my boyfriend's second. I think this is great for first timers or short cruise seekers. If you are used to high end luxurious cruises then this may not suit you. If you can make a good time out of anything like me, then you will enjoy yourself. So here we go... Embarkment: They only offer valet which costs about $36 for the 2 days, cash only. Check-in was smooth and boarding was even smoother. We got there a little after 12 and by the time we checked in at the desk we were able to walk right on the boat. They have a green screen just before going on so you can take a nice shot where they put the ship/water behind you. You have the option to check your bags in so they are taken to your room for you, but they only check in roll-on bags. Rooms aren't ready till 2pm so we had to carry duffel bags around till then. Room: M37, Desk 5. Room is nice and clean. Only 1 outlet that I was able to find. You can bring a power strip. My only complaint about the room was is was pretty hot. We asked for a fan the second night which really helped. Memories Photo Gallery: A few hours after you board they will have all of your embarkment photos I mentioned before displayed on the wall where you can choose to purchase them. They had a special that included 2 photos, a key chain, and a magnet for about $20. They also offered professional/romantic pictures that evening between 6-10pm. You don't have to pay if you don't want the pictures. We did the romantic pictures with the black background and the one in front of the green screen. The photographers are great, they do a TON of poses for you. They were ready a couple hours later and they came out SO GOOD! It ended up being like $45 for the 3 we bought plus a couple key chains. Highly recommend. Food & Drinks: They have the buffet, a sit down restaurant included in the price with a reservation, and another fancier sit down restaurant that's an extra $30 a person. We chose not to do either of the sit down places because we didn't want to subject ourselves to a time. The buffet was good. They had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As well as a late night pizza buffet and a late night taco and nacho buffet. They also have burger and hot dogs in the afternoon by the pool. The 2nd day while we are at Freeport they have a smokehouse BBQ around 2:30pm that was good. Water, lemonade, tea, and coffee are free. They offer a $21 package for unlimited soda. They offer 10 drink tickets for $65. This is a good deal if you aren't drinking beer. Beer is about $6 a bottle so you would end up losing money if that's all you're drinking. Any bar purchase they add 15% service charge, including the drink tickets. Entertainment: We decided not to go to the shows so I can't comment there. They have karaoke each night at 10pm by the pool. We love karaoke so we had a blast here. We went to the Voltage night club the first night around 12-1am. There weren't many people there and the DJ was terrible, but like I said before we make a good time out of anything so I danced my night away and had a great time. The pools are salt water so I couldn't stand to be in them too long without my skin feeling dry. They have some other activities through-out the day. Freeport: We didn't purchase excursions because the weather wasn't going to be nice. Right at the port, about a 15 minute walk there are a few shops and a Senor Frogs restaurant. So I would suggest that if you aren't doing excursions. From what I hear the shopping district isn't worth going to. Disembarkment: 2.5 hours without passports! Be prepared to wait. Spent about $400 while on the ship (2 people). Read Less

I am not the type to write reviews, although I read them quite a bit before making a final decision. i just got back from this cruise yesterday with my husband. We were celebrating our honeymoon and it was our first time on a cruise. We purchased our tickets on groupon at an amazing price. Initially we were going to sail with Royal Caribbean but decided that we both wanted to get a feet wet with a shorter cruise. I was A LOT reluctant to purchase the tickets because of some of the negative reviews, but my now husband, being the optimist that he is coaxed me into giving it a try, reminding me that '' we make the most of our experiences''. I am truly happy we booked with them after all. We had an ocean view cabin that was truly beautiful and spacious (E77), I was completely surprised with the space available and the amazing view, perfect for us honeymooners. The food was great, comedy night and the beach excursion to Lucayan Resort, Bahamas was great. The weather was rainy at first but it cleared up into a beautiful sunny and perfect day! The food that was part of the excursion package was amazing! We were both expecting small lunch that would be less but filling but it surpassed our expectations by far!! The restaurant was breathtaking and there was a LARGE assortment of food to choose from, including dessert. This was an amazing and inexpensive package. The staff on board the cruise was very courteous also. I would recommend that you book this cruise. My husband and I thought it was so amazing we both didn't want to come back home! Please don't worry about the negative reviews, book the cruise and enjoy yourself to the fullest. I have truly learned now that I need to experience things for myself and not rely on others negative experiences. We are both hooked on cruising now and hope to cruise again in the near future. When booking this cruise, a friend and I decided on a whim to go for it. We found it on groupon for a very low price and had never been on a cruise before. We didn't even bother to check reviews until the next day. Our expectations were lowered after reading reviews for hours. Fast forward a month and we arrived in West Palm at 11:00. A family member of mine dropped us off and right away we headed inside. The women checking us in was very helpful in all of our 'first timer' questions. We headed to the gate and got our picture taken and purchased the $63 ($76) drink package. I say ($76) because the 18% charge to EVERY purchase is very real. Each ticket covers a drink up to $10.25 and you get ten tickets. Do the math and you'd see that the drink package is very worth its price. Most of the drinks aren't that expensive, the most expensive glass of wine was $9.50, plus the 18% charge. My friend even got away with using a ticket to get a $10.75 martini. Any way, the check in process took only 5 minutes. The crew was a little late letting us on (only about 20 minutes, 12:20ish). We were within the first 20 people on the ship so we were able to get our hands on the food first. With the price we paid, the food was pretty good. I was unfortunately sick the whole weekend with a sore throat and cough so I didn't have much of an appetite. In the buffet, I just snacked on some sad, fruit and bread. Once we finished in there, we headed right outside to the pool and played some corn hole. I kept getting approached by employees to buy Bahama Mamas in these souvenir cups for $14. I kept declining because I'm only 20 and couldn't drink until we left the port. One employee ended up letting me purchase one and allowed me to put a margarita in my cup instead. My drink was VERY strong. Definitely worth it and saw a lot of people ended up purchasing the cups. Before we boarded the ship, we decided to make reservations at Stellar Prime. You could only chose between a 6:30 and 8:30 dinner time, we wen't with the 8:30. We started getting ready for dinner right after we left the port. After being in the room for 15 minutes, we could feel everything rock and started feeling extremely seasick. Our room was on the 6th deck in the very front of the boat. We heard EVERYTHING the boat did, which resulted in very early wake up calls both mornings.. The dinner was good.. Just good, not great. But again, what do you expect when you paid $112 a person? The buffet didn't really appeal to us and didn't really make sense. It had stuff like mexican rice, chicken, meatballs then cole slaw and burgers. It didn't flow. Freeport was just meh. It was overcast so we didn't really lay out on the free beach, plus it was really small. We wondered onto the resort beach and after what felt like a mile of walking, we sat down on some steps to look at our map. An employee came up to us and semi-nicely told us we had to leave because we didn't pay. That night, we went back to Stellar Prime and I really only enjoyed the Pot Stickers and the dessert because my throat hurt so bad. My friends and I went to see the Adult Scavenger Hunt. I ended up participating and had the best time! Out of all the little events they had going on, that one was my favorite. We also saw a show and spent time in the casino and dancing at the rave and the 70's/80's pop rewind. So overall, three first time cruisers between the ages of 19-20, we really enjoyed our time. The ship is clean, drinks were good, hot tub was hot and had really good BBQ on the second day. We made friends with a bunch of the staff and people of all ages! Read Less

We were told that we could check in at 10am, board the ship at noon, rooms at 2pm and that our luggage would be waiting for us in our rooms. 10am check in- the lady was very slow and made several remarks about how she hated her job. Boarding the ship- it was almost 1pm before we could board the ship 2pm room check in- got to our room, there was no luggage. We were told that we would have our luggage by 5pm. I actually went and found my own luggage and took it back to the room. We came in from KY and were not dressed for the higher temps. Room- the room was not clean, there was trash under the bed and brown/reddish stains on the bathroom wall. Staff- the staff was very rude. On several occasions, the staff was so rude and spoke very little english. Food was not good at all and was served only at certain times, anything outside of the set times was for an extra charge. All entertainment you had to purchase tickets. Terrible experience. The excursion was worth the money, around $100 for a snorkel/kayak adventure. Read Less

Took my fiancé to get married, thought this would be the perfect cruise for her first time, out of the states. It was terrible, highly over priced and unorganized people, the drink machines were either broke or empty, snobby people, the grand lucayan resort was just as unorganized as the boat, wasted two days of vacation time waiting in line or waiting for room, couldn't get reservations for dinner had to eat at the sub shop, and they were out of most meats for the subs. The islanders was trying to sell you water sports and any drugs , as they put it party favors you might want, the ramada were the cruise lines book you you was a run down motel in need of repair. The pool was nicer than the motel. I would not recommend this to anyone. Very disappointed and so upset that postponed wedding till later date. As long as they have been in business they should have supplies on hand. And the gratuities was all paid then asked for ice , boom 24 dollars for ice to be brought to room. Sad sad ! Read Less

I actually wish there was a better way to describe my recent experience on your cruise ship, but WOW, is the closest I can get. Let me start at the beginning. I've been wanting to take my wife on a cruise for years; we've been married 22 yrs. now. After having received a call last yr (2015) offering a deal on this cruise, I thought I should risk it. I figured with a short cruise, even if she didn't like it, it would be over quickly. My wife reads too many news reports of cruise horror stories. We stayed at the Ramada in Ft. Lauderdale for 2 nights essentially free(Mon/Tues). We only had to pay the taxes for each night, but it included breakfast, lunch & dinner for both of us. I was pleased with the hotel & the meals. It was not a 5 star, but I felt that everything provided was very good. On the morning of the cruise we did have to meet with a sales rep for about 90 min who offered us an opportunity to purchase a membership in their vacation program. We declined the offer, but did not feel that the rep was aggressive or pressured us into purchasing it. After the sales meeting, we received our 'cruise package'. It included a VIP lanyard that the rep told us would bump us ahead of the long boarding lines. I was skeptical, but was hoping for the best, knowing that this could make a big impression on my wife. When we arrived at the departure point, we turned our vehicle over to a valet, passed through security, checked our luggage (2 bags each) & proceeded upstairs to stand inline for check-in. I saw a sign that actually said "VIP travelers here". I told my wife, "Let's try it & see if they really mean it". We were the only one's in that line & within 1 min, the next check-in clerk waved us forward. Another couple boarding came from another line & stepped up in front of us. The clerk was polite to them, but told them they'd have to wait & waved us forward again. I was quite pleased by this service. It took the clerk 5 minutes maximum to check us in & send us on our way. It was probably less than 15 minutes from the time we got out of our vehicle to the moment we stepped foot on the ship. It was very efficient. Immediately upon boarding, we were greeted & informed that lunch was being served on deck 10 & we would be informed when our rooms would be ready (approx 1 - 1 1/2 hours). On deck we were greeted w/live music, fresh food being grilled & a wide selection on the buffet. Just a quick note on the food. Very pleasant the ENTIRE cruise. I would not classify it as 5 star, but everything was cooked well & there was always a nice variety. The pizzeria & taco/nacho bar till 3 am was a great addition. I had always been told the food on cruises was great & I was not disappointed at all. If anything, it exceeded my expectations. When we reached our room, it also met my expectations. It was clean, neat & exactly what was described to me by the sales rep when I purchased the package over the phone. I don't want to bore folks w/every detail, but ultimately I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed out cruise. The entertainment was good & family oriented which was very nice. Every member of the staff that we encountered was polite & helpful. Our cabin attendant; Donnie, did everything he could to make out stay comfortable & pleasant. Every time we left out cabin for more than an hour, he came by to straighten, organize & replenish our room w/needed items. The only 'slight' negative would come from the constant swaying of the ship on the night of the departure. I know that sometimes the ship drifts w/the waves & that contributes to the increased motion. It did not effect either of us & was actually a little entertaining walking the passageways at times. It was similar to being a bit tipsy, even though we don't drink. My wife & I want to thank you for such a GREAT time. We are already trying to make plans to do it again, but take our 3 teenage children this time. I would love to introduce them to the enjoyments of a cruise. Read Less

We are a mature couple living in Miami Beach. We booked this two nights cruise on the Gran Celebration to Bahamas in Bayside by South Florida Travel& tours. We paid 700$ while later realizing that booking directly with the cruise company would have costed only 400$! My wife has cruised few times in Europe while for me was the first time. The trip to Palm Beach was about 90 minutes long. When we arrived the valet parking was fast and efficient. On the way to the embarkement we were stopped by cruise staff who offered us a free stay for the next day in The Memories hotel resort. The only condition was to listen to a 90 minute presentation. The embarkement was reasonably quick and the room almost ready. The luggage were delivered in within a couple of hours. We booked a room with ocean view on deck 7. The room was what one would expect in a ship of that age with all the necessary facilities. However there was a rather significant noisy vibration at times and it was rather cold. The food in general was sufficiently good but not impressive. The serving staff were very nice and polite rendering dining a cosy event. Regrettably there are no drinks included a part water and coffee. Drinks are rather expensive with a Cocacola at more than 5$ and a glass of red wine at 9$. Enterteinment was very good. We enjoied the singers and the dancing in the piano bar, the casino area, the theater and the rest. We also enjoyed the wine tasting we had the first evening on board at very reasanable price. The trip to Bahamas was quit and slow. In the morning we were picked up on time for our excursion to the Memories resort. The 90 minute presentation became a three hour discussion with few individuals trying to sell us holidays for the next 30 years for 42000$! Since the weather was rather bad, we did not really minded although we were surprised that the cruise company was somehow part of what I would define as an intent to froud. The disembarkement was also quick and efficient. The car was delivered in few minutes. All in all it was a nice experience mostly because of the enterteinment. Read Less

I was very impressed with how smooth the entire process from beginning to end went. This was my first cruise in my life and I have always heard coworkers talk about other cruise lines some with good comments and others with nothing but complaints. I can say that Grand Celebration Staff were well organized, very attentive, friendly and went out of their way to make my trip an enjoyable one. I enjoyed dancing in the different clubs, playing the slot machines, watching the shows, and the food was delicious! This was my first cruise but won't be my last one. I hope to take my kids on my next cruise. I will most definitely recommend Grand Celebration Cruise Line to my friends and family. Grand Celebration Cruise line and staff are the BEST! Read Less

LONG in-depth review We're newbies - never have been cruising, and wanted to go on a high end Alaskan cruise next year before retirement - problem is, we've never been on a cruise ship. We had a friend do the Alaskan cruise with no experience and on the 2nd stop his wife got off and flew home - she couldn't deal with the confined space, the food or being on the open ocean - we thought we'd try it once for a short hop - and this IS a very short hop. We stayed in Jupiter Florida at the Jupiter Resort and Spa (We do NOT recommend - see my TripAdvisor review) and were a little disappointed that we were told we "had' to get our boarding stuff in Fort Lauderdale - not a quick hop (I now doubt that and think each 'welcome station' gets points for those processed). We were hit up for the "Timeshare vacation thing presentation" - We agreed and went with an open mind to get the additional shipboard perks, it might have been a decent thing if were were younger, had kids that travelled and we travelled a lot - we're retiring out of country so it wasn't a deal for us - but we 'earned' 50 "ship dollars" - be wary - they're only good for photos (3), spa, excursions or the ship store. We also 'earned' a 2 night/3 day "getaway" in Kissimmee - we'll see how the upsell on that one goes. The vacation plan might be for you, or might not, go with a firm resolve - these can be tough hard sellers. Bottom line with this (Or any other cruise line we are told) is the upsell or upcharge - Basically you attach a credit card to your ship I.D., which is used for ALL purchases - they tack on 15% as a gratuity for EVERYTHING - be advised, that is E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. So with one exception, we did not tip - since we normally tip at 20% but do not when we are told or forced to tip otherwise. Basically the charge is supposed to be put into a pot and divided evenly between ship crew/employees when all done - I'm okay with that. Newbie mistakes = I purchased the 10 coupon drink set - meaning anything at $9.25 or less was taken care of by the coupon (Except that 15% gratuity!) - so that was 10 $7.25 glasses of wine for 2 people for $6.25 each - it was an "Okay" deal - I also bought at a 20% discount (from THEIR PRICE) on 3 bottles of wine. They obviously look for, search and confiscate any spirits other than ghosts coming in from the outside world - I'm told every cruise line does this also - it's apparently their meat and potatoes (Selling booze and adventures). Bottom line here? I should have waited until I was on board because they're available there also, and not something you should feel pressured to get. Next time I'll get them onboard with a wider, less expensive selection. We did the 90 minute or so presentation - they were decent and no real "Hard sell" but I've seen that used car/timeshare hard sell - this guy understood our position and saw that I wasn't going to budge. He was actually very interesting and to be honest, 15 years ago I may have taken them up on it. So presentation done (Write down any deposits etc., they don't remind you!) we bought a 'wine tasting" for later that afternoon, the coupons for drinks and the 3 bottles of wine "discounted" - Yeah, right... and got onboard. Boarding was a snap - ALWAYS have that blue I.D. Card with you, it's the "magic key" - but be careful, it feels (Intentionally I am sure), like you are NOT spending a dime even though it's linked to your credit card - they also don't bill immediately so your cell, internet, or immediate notification tracking doesn't gently remind you that you're spending a bundle. We got on at Noon thirty or so - rooms weren't ready until 2:30 pm but they were prompt and our bags arrived outside the doors an hour later just before our "wine tasting" event. Be careful as you explore the upper decks (Food, restaurants, entertainment etc. are on the the 3 or so decks...) - a "Bahama Mama" is in the offering, and they make you smile and then grab that "Blue I.D. Card" - Wham! 16.25 and 15%! ALWAYS check your six. (Military will get this). "Wine Tasting" - $12 per (Plus? You guessed it, 15%!) - we 'tasted' 6 stations of 2 bottles each station - less a truly informative wine tasting - although they used a lot of adjectives... Tasty! Vibrant! Delicious! etc., - and more a "wine sale" - here is where I wished I'd bought the 3 bottles at a 20% discount - they had some tasty wines and lesser expensive than in the boarding area... Read Less

I recently moved to Florida and figured there isn't a better time to do a cruise than now. It was a birthday gift for my girlfriend. Her life has been severely lacking dolphins and island accents. This was the clearly the best way to get to the Bahamas. I mean what other option is there? I mean you certainly can't swim there. It was our first time being on a ship. So there were a lot of ship fantasies to live up to. First off, where's the mermaid figurehead? Real talk, This was a cool ship to drive up to. The arrival and boarding was quick and easy. We weren't in line for very long and all staff members made it easy for us figure out our way around the first time. However the return through customs takes forever. This is probably standard for every island cruise but was that a long wait to be hungover for at 8am. The cabin itself was spacious and comfortable. Everything in the room was in working order and clean. The oceanview was pretty awesome. It is definitely worth the extra charge. Don't you want all the sea critters to see how much fun you're having? The amenities is where I'd say this cruise falls off. I mean to be fair this is a 2 day cruise for like $200 so not bad but I can't be giving 5 stars to every discount cruise ship. The hot tubs were cooler than a polar bear's toenails. We made the mistake on our last night to get in. Both us and the other people in the tub thought we were going to die in the tub due to the dilemma of getting out and freezing to death or staying in the 60 degree tub forever. The buffet is about as good as a college cafeteria. This ain't no breakfast club. There were enough corn holes for a group of children to lose the bags for and one working foosball table. When you had to kill time it was tough. As a tip, don't buy the bottle of booze they offer before boarding. The drinks were totally pricey but $90 for Jose Cuervo is pretty steep. As for the entertainment, this is where they redeem themselves. The main theater was awesome and had great ambiance. The magic was mind blowing. Like that was some Vegas magic, for real. The Dean Martin/ Frank Sinatra impersonator killed it. He was funny and very talented. The Lady Gaga impersonator was pretty talented too. Lady Gaga ain't on my spotify playlist but she did great. The outdoor dance floor seemed to be great for children and grandparents. Not a great place to be offering free drinks as the prizes. It was kind of hard to find certain clubs throughout the night for various reasons. Mostly, alcohol. When we did find them they were pretty fun. Grand Celebration gets 3 mermaids out of 5. There are clearly some areas that are lacking but they also have some fun things to do and all the staff are quite friendly. I would definitely do this again if I'm looking for a cheap get away but if I'm doing a longer cruise I may shop book elsewhere. It's for the booty. Read Less

We recently took a cruise on the Grand Celebration and had a fabulous time. The people at check in were so friendly and almost everyone we met had a smile and helpful information. We upgraded to a balcony suite and it was the best decision. Room was spacious, bed was so comfy and I loved being able to stand outside and watched the sunset and feel the breeze. Our room attendant (Ernesto) was the best- always greeted us with a smile and he remembered our names from the very beginning. He really cared about how our trip was going. The breakfasts were great, lunch and dinner were good (could probably use a few more dinner choices). Disembarkation was a lot faster than we thought it would be. We had such a great time- we would do it again in a heartbeat. Read Less

The Grand Celebration made for a great short cruise. The staff were incredibly friendly and eager to assist no matter the time of day or location. I work in customer service and can honestly say that I was impressed with how kind and patient the staff on this cruise were. Especially with some of the particularly rude guests. A staff member was even kind enough to give me tips on preventing sea sickness on the first night out. It was a small gesture, but very meaningful. As for my cabin, it was very well designed and put together. The bed was comfortable and the view, though partially blocked by a life boat, was still a treat. My only qualm with the room was that there were not many outlets to fit my American charger plugs, but honestly it didn't detract from the overall experience. After all, I was there to experience the Bahamas, not my phone. The food was a bit limited at any given sitting, but had an overall pleasant variety. I personally loved breakfast. They made these waffles with a special iron that looked as great as they tasted. Also, the cleanliness of all of the dining areas (and really the whole ship) was amazing. Once again, the staff does a great job with prepping and cleaning all areas. As a hermit, I didn't participate much in the huge variety of activities around the ship. However I did go to the adult comedy show on the final night of the cruise. The comedian was well known, with his own Comedy Central special and was able to get the room going pretty quickly. My boyfriend and I still crack some of the inside jokes we heard that night. We also chose to have a couple of drinks in the ship's souvenir holiday cups while enjoying the show. The glasses are pretty neat and were surprisingly affordable considering the amount of alcohol that fit in them. Had I bought drinks earlier, I would have definitely purchased additional souvenir glasses. Overall, I would go on another cruise on the Grand Celebration, though I'd definitely shoot for a much longer trip. This was a wonderful first cruise and I look forward to going on many more trips with this company in the future. Read Less

The WORST experience EVER!!! The hidden fees are outrageous. The entertainment line up is a joke!!! The excursions are overpriced AND totally overrated by their staff. If you are LGBT, this ship is NOT for you!!! The directors of operations AND entertainment are rude!!!! The ONLY good thing I can say, is that the ship is VERY clean!!! Don't waste your time or money. Now I know why they need to sell Groupons!!!! Disappointment guaranteed!!!!!! No cash is taken on the ship. You have to charge it to your room. EVERY transaction is charged an additional 15% gratuity. For ANYTHING. The BIG GRAND GIVEWAYS are for a cheap plastic heart shaped pendant. The hot tubs are for 3 people max. The pools were closed majority of the time. Shows are extra + 15% tip. No one won a penny from the casino. Food was mediocre. I tried to speak to the director of operations and he basically told me to get over it and he doesn't need me as a customer, he's done this for 30 years and he has plenty of happy customers. Best entertainment to them.... a Johnny Carson impersonator. Yes....you read that right. I would NEVER recommend this company....EVER!!!!!! Read Less

My husband and I decided to try this cruise as an introduction to cruising. We read reviews and understood that this was an older boat and did not have all of the bells and whistles of some of the newer ships. We really enjoyed our cruise and will probably now try another one. I have also recommended this one to several friends. The ship was very nice and the crew were exceptional. We enjoyed the entertainment, activities and walking all around the decks. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was fabulous - good taste, good variety and plenty of it! It was very easy to check in at Port of Palm Beach and Freeport. We decided to spend 2 nights in the Bahamas and that was very nice as well. The only downside to this trip would be that there is no shopping right at the port and our hotel was not near shopping either, so we had very little opportunity for looking for souvenirs. We booked the jeep tour of the island and enjoyed that. The weather did not allow for snorkeling, which would have been our first choice for activities on the island. We stayed at the Viva Fortuna resort which was nice, but I would recommend staying at the Grand Lucayan which is closer to the port, closer to Freeport and closer to shopping. Read Less

This was my first cruise and I had a awesome time. I purchased the cruise from Groupon and wasn't sure what to expect since I only paid 99$ plus 64 for the taxes and room service (they kept the room clean) I even returned one evening to a cute bunny made from hand towels. The entire staff was attentive, helpful and pleasant, from check in all the way down to valet (additional 17$/day). The cabin was a nice size, bed slept great and it was clean. There's a variety of things to do including the casino, shows, gift shop, spa, and food basically 24 hours straight. The food was ok, breakfast was great. I didn't get the opportunity to time at one of the two restaurants on board because I got sea suck (the seas were really choppy) so seating still was not fun. Freeport was beautiful even with overcast for most of the stay. We did the Grand Lucayan Resort stay with lunch and so glad we did, it was just 49$ and we had access to free wi-fi, the ocean and a infinity pool that had a swim up bar. I mentioned before this was my first cruise but certainly won't be the last and I'll definitely be cruising with The Grand Celebration again! Read Less

We took this cruise to and from Freeport... We were on the 11th floor, Marius and two other gentleman looked after all our needs boarding, leaving and in between.... the entertainment was good/great, geared more toward 60+ for the most part with the free show in the shows in the theater, yet the were parts for a younger crowd, magician and musical dance acts.... the comedy show for a small fee was to much fun, but if you are an uptight individual, or afraid of being picked on, don't go as you ruin it for us!!!! The suite was awesome, the food around the clock was great!!! the service was amazing.... Leonard at the service desk was extremely helpful and friendly.... Lots to do if you are up for it... Decks are loaded with places to sit and enjoy, pools, hot tubs, bars and servers everywhere!!! I would advise to avoid the karaoke though, it is way too loud and wicked evil bad as you might suspect... Admiral room for dinner was a pleasure with Giovanni as our waiter.... Just an amazing worthwhile mini adventure, I would do it again and again if able.... Read Less

Recently I boarded the grand celebration, Bahama paradise cruise line. From the moment we valet parked customer service was awful. The staff employed by this cruise line treated every customer as if they had taken the cruise line hundreds of times. This being my first cruise and a birthday gift from a friend, I was excited to celebrate on board the grand celebration. I now regret ever booking this trip. As we boarded the ship there were two women standing at the entrance. They did not say, "welcome aboard", "thank you for choosing grand celebration", "please let us show you to your cabin", nothing at all. A young lady walking down the hallway, said you can go and have lunch go to your cabin or not but, later at 5 p.m. there will be a meeting on deck 5. Not knowing which direction to go we begin to look for our cabin. Every staff member we passed did not even glance our way. They did not make us feel welcome, if anything we felt as if we were intruding in someone's personal space. Many of the announcements were made after we were finally in our cabin. By the way, the room was spacious, very clean, and exceeded my expectations. Our housekeeper John, was amazing. I wish that I could have the same positive words for the rest of the crew. At the very least there should have been a written program, explaining the day to day activities and when they are available. Our first dinner in the stellar prime restaurant was horrible. Our waiter, again, made us feel as if we were intruding on his dinner break. He did not explain the menu at all. For example; how we should order, if we could substitute or what was available. When I spoke with what I thought was the manager, he immediately spoke to the waiter who then proceeded to tell me the reason he could not speak very well to us was because he was having dental pain. It was not that I could not understand the waiter, it was that he did not speak at all when he first began to take our order. At one point the waiter even showed me his bridge in his mouth by sticking his finger in and pulling it down as I was eating, to demonstrate his dental issues. After dinner we decided to walk the ship and find a club or bar or show that was available. We found the club that played descent music but who's bartender scowled the entire time she was making cocktails. The DJ proceeded to change the genre of music he was playing to cater to a young group of passengers that began to dance very provocatively on the dance floor. As this occurred you could see the more mature patrons slowly leaving until the only people left were the people on the dance floor. I was so thoroughly disappointed by our first day we called it a night very early. The next day we decided to begin things on a positive note. At about 10 o'clock we decided to go and have breakfast. When we arrived at the ocean buffet breakfast was closing up. The staff was taking all of the breakfast away, and after asking someone we are told breakfast would be served at the grill outside. We went outside where there was powdered eggs, undercooked potatoes, two or three pastries and some sausage. There were no alternatives as far as turkey bacon, cereal (hot or cold) or even pancakes. Being that I do not eat beef or pork I had the powdered eggs, the undercooked potatoes and a pastry. They powdered eggs tasted disgusting, I can't stress enough how undercooked the potatoes were and the pastry was a plain roll with raisins in it. We then decided since we were in the Bahamas we would book an excursion. We asked one of the staff members where we needed to go to book an excursion and they said that all of the buses for the excursions had already left. We asked how could we get to the beach, we were told you can take a taxi. We asked where do we find a taxi, the staff member pointed in the direction of the door, leading to where don't know. We began to walk towards the door and we were stopped by a crew member who said I need your blue cards. She then shouted "Blue Cards Out". We gave our blue cards to a gentleman who swiped them and said to be back by 5:30. We began to walk out, off of the ship and in to another building. As we walked through the building there was what seemed to be a checkpoint. We waited to be instructed on what we should do, when I heard someone giggle. I looked in the direction of the giggle and it was a crew member. This crew member continued to giggle and asked myself and my friend why are you just standing there. I said, what do we do now. She said you go out that door and pointed in the direction of a door. We went out the door and there were several people standing outside waiting. A woman comes up yells out, taxi anyone for taxi. We raise our arms she tells us to walk towards her, we stand next to her and she says one minute we need more passengers before we can leave. After more people arrived to take the taxi we are walked to a van, where there were also two other passengers waiting to get on who were blind. They were told to step up, however the van was about a foot up from the ground. There was no step stool or foot plate for people to step up onto. As the blind woman and man tried to board the van, the blind man missed the foot up where he had to step and fell on his knee inside the van. He was then nudged up into the seat. I observed other passengers having the same difficulty getting into the van. The beach was lovely, however the taxi driver informed us that the Lucyana beach was too touristy and we should try the Junkanoo beach. This beach was beautiful, small, private, there were beach chairs to rent for a nominal $3, there was a restaurant and bar and flea market right on the beach. We were curious as to why the cruise line suggested the other beach and not the Junkanoo. After spending several hours at the beach we took a taxi back to the ship. We boarded and wanted to have lunch it was now 2:30 p.m. . And again lunch was cleaned up and we instead had to have pizza. I was so frustrated I decided to go back to the cabin and rest until dinner. We had upgraded to the Admiralty restaurant, which I am pleased to have dined at. Our waiters Adie and Jhon were wonderful. Our meal was excellent and we were extremely pleased. We went walking around the ship after dinner trying to find another place to hang out and have a cocktail or two. We found the dancing Martian, the dancing Martian was amazing and the music was great. The bartenders were friendly, happy, positive, and talkative. We went to sleep very pleased that our second evening was great. The next morning we were back to port at West Palm. There are announcements being made outside of our cabin, but we were unsure as to what was said. In a hope to not miss breakfast we left our cabin at 9:30 a.m. . We were able to catch breakfast, get back to our cabin, shower, pack and leave the ship. What I expected as we were leaving was the same treatment we received as we were boarding. Instead I was delighted and confused at how friendly the staff was as we were leaving. Almost as if they were happy we were leaving. We then had to stand in a slow moving line for over an hour in order to officially be home. My vehicle was valeted so I had to wait for it to be pulled around. Unfortunately my friend was delayed in getting through customs and out of the building so I had to park and wait for her. As I see her coming out of the building I drive up to retrieve her. A man who is directing traffic quickly comes over to my vehicle and says what are you doing you need to move. I said I am picking up my friend, she is right there but she can't see me, so I'm driving closer. He says what is your friends name so that you guys can get out of my way. He then proceeded to yell her name and tell her your ride is over here you need to hustle. And that was the end of our awful trip on the grand celebration. Read Less

I won this 3 day, 2 night cruise while on vacation in Las Vegas last year - so I can't complain too much because it was "free." First off, I should've known it was going to be outdated because the website barely functions. When we arrived at the Port of Palm Beach we were immediately shocked at how small the cruise ship was. We had never been on a cruise before but I watch Royal Caribbean ships sail by my office all the time and the difference in size was very noticeable. Once we got on the ship we noticed just how outdated everything was. All the décor looked like it was straight from the 60s. Exploring the ship also confirmed that it was extremely tiny. The pools were so tiny that I thought they were hot tubs at first. The only good thing was that the cruise was empty so it felt like we had the whole boat to ourselves. The cabins were ok. Completely bare and boring, but clean enough. Again everything just seemed very old, even the keys, which were plastic cards with holes in it. We had boarded early anticipating lines like the lady on the phone said, but there were no lines and we found ourselves very bored on the boat within a few hours. There is NOTHING to do on this ship besides drink, go to the casino and play corn hole. We bought the drink coupon package for $65 and I'm not sure if it was rip off or not. Absolutely everything is extra on the boat. For a "free" cruise we ended up paying almost $400 on extra fees - drinks, excursions, shows, gratuities, gas etc. It is literally impossible not to rack up charges on this boat. We did sign up for the snorkeling excursion and it was AWESOME! I highly recommend doing that if you are going on this cruise. We also decided to stay a few days in the Bahamas at the Grand Luyacan resort, which was nice. The downside was going back on the cruise ship. Although it was organized, no one could give you an answer if you wanted to stray from the plan. We wanted to spend the day at the beach in the Bahamas (like all the day trippers do!), but our bus back was scheduled at 11:00 a.m. When we asked to catch a later bus no one would give us a straight answer. It was terrible. The food was pretty good each day on the boat. Dinner was portioned correctly for a 5 course meal - even if you ate all 5 courses, you didn't feel like it was TOO much food. The buffet was very average. Nothing special there. We aren't big buffet people though. As mentioned before, the only thing to do on the boat was going to the casino or play corn hole. We got very good at playing corn hole. So good that my boyfriend actually won the corn hole competition that they had on the second day. We were super excited to get $50 on board credit! It was going to go right towards alcohol - until we read the fine print. The credit could not be used at the bar. What else would you use that money on?! We asked the front desk and they told us the spa and the gift shop. That was so disappointing. I'm not one to buy crap at a gift shop so we ended up going to the spa. I got a basic manicure and my boyfriend got a much needed haircut. Our experience at the spa was pretty good. Friendly staff and good service. Overall, it was an ok experience. We would certainly not pay to go on this cruise, but for a "free" trip we can't complain too much. My advise: pick a different cruise line if you want to have a relaxing, luxurious vacation - a little extra money upfront will probably save you a ton in the long run. Read Less

I read soooo many reviews prior to booking and I was def on edge upon arriving but I must say I DID NOT ENCOUNTER half of the disasters i read. We traveled on a Saturday and came back Monday. Port of Palm Beach There were no long lines or long waits (we arrived around 4:30 pm) I pulled up got my belongings out the trunk, paid the 17$ per night for valet parking ( i read they accept cards and the gentlemen who approached us said cash only, so be prepared just in case) went thru security up to the check in (it's an advantage having the paper work completed prior to arrival) after documents were seen and key cards were given we went to the other side where u can take a welcome picture, book excursions, make reservations, and buy drink packages. I was not forced or pushed into buying anything, as a matter of fact we took our pic stopped to get a excursion paper and by passed everyone else and made our way on the ship. SHIP We went to the shore excursion booking desk to find out the prices on the one we were interested in, we may have waited maybe 5 minutes, I can say the jeep excursions was waaaayyy overpriced ($93 bucks per person) so we declined any excursions and decided we would just take a taxi out. We then decided to drop our luggage off and check out our rooms, we were on the floor E for Equinox, the room was very nice, nice size for the two of us, We never cruised before so we had nothing to compare it too but we did hear the horror stories of a small room, it was an ocean view and VERY VERY COLD, so we had no A/C complaints, as a matter of fact at night it got really cold and we did not see a thermostat to adjust so we just dealt with the extra blankets and each other to stay warmer :) we ran into our room keeper, i cant remember his name but he was very nice and always greeted us with a smile, we were promised a bottle of champaign because we were celebrating a anniversary, which was not in the room upon arrival, but i checked with customer service who got it delivered right away with no problem. we pretty much just tried to familiarize ourselves with the boat, we visited many of the rooms to see what they had to offer, i still cant remember the decks by hard, my bf was a master at it though :) We watched some activities that were going on and ate some hot dogs, hamburgers and fries. Listen out for the announcements they let u know whats going on and where, if u r a drinker they keep u informed of the drink specials as well :) We ate in the stellar room, i did not like being seated with strangers but hey it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, i had the salmon and veggies and the Jamaican jerk pork, i loved the salmon better the other dish was ok, i loved the cheesecake but i didn't like the desert choices the second night. we went to the regal room i think it was called and watched the show they offered at 7 but we didn't care for it much, so we didn't stay the entire time. That evening we went to the room with the saxaphone player and singer and I truly enjoyed there session and the songs they were playing was the bomb.com we visited a club also there music choices were good as well. the breakfast leftovers (we arrived around 10 am, so get their earlier for better variety) was not as good but we were ok with just putting something in our stomachs before getting off to see the island. I did experience a bit of sea sick the first night but i went to the customer service desk and got the complimentary pills. ISLAND We got off the boat and waiting on a taxi round trip for two of us was $20, WAY BETTER THAN $93. we were taken to Lucaya marketplace, where we picked up a few souvenirs(i can see where the shop owners can become a pest but I think of it as its there job and they are trying to make a living) we got some fresh conch lobster and conch salad which was very good and very cheap we then got a pina colada drink fixed inside a coconut, we visited there casino(which didn't have much a/c but we won $7 bucks off $1,cant complain) we also visited there beach but we didn't stay too long because it was very hot,we arrived back to the boat by 3:30 pm and was met by NO LINES.... We then went to freshen up ate dinner again in the stellar room, caught a free comedy show, hung out in a club then called it a night, We were up and ready by 8:30 AM many others thought like us,the earlier the better,we did have to wait but it was not nearly as long as the reviews i read, i can say the time consuming part was arrival back to the port and waiting on customs, ITS TRUE THE PASSPORT LINE GOES FASTER,and waiting on valet to bring the car. All in all I enjoyed our brief vacation and for the price i really cant complain, i recommend going yourself and experience it rather than going by what others say, i def didn't regret this Groupon purchase and next time we want to take the kids Read Less

This was my first time on a cruise and I ignored all the bad reviews when I wish I had listened! I have heard many people talk about other cruise lines where the food is great and you can eat any time. That wasn't the case here. The best food came out at 11pm, where you can have onion rings, chicken tenders, tacos. The food during the day is not very good. They only have four places you can eat, The Ocean Breeze Buffet, The Admirality Club, ($20 extra) The Stellar Prime and the Pico Bar. There is no 24 hour restaurant on the boat. The Ocean Breeze, which stays open the latest, closes at 2am. However, you can't eat because the crew is standing over the food or trying to sell you drinks! The only entertainment is a show at 9:45pm, filled with people trying very hard to pull you into liking their presentations, pay a halfway funny comedian an extra $13 bucks or karaoke by the pool. Last I hope they get rid of the woman that works with Customer Service on deck 5! Despite her rudeness, she practically laughed at us after we left the desk to enquire about the $50 credit they decided not to give us. Do yourselves a favor and save for a bigger name cruise line where you can really enjoy yourself! Read Less
