The ship itself is older and now 10, hopefully will be replaced.   It shows her age.  I guess I didn't research enough but we paid a high premium to have a french balcony as we enjoyed so much on the AmaPrima.    The Taste of Bordeaux cruise doesn't really go so far in between ports.  Lets just say our tour guides everyday live close enough that we had the same guides show up each day.    This meant we didn't really sail all that much and when we did it was typically at night.    Every single time we docked, it was our side that was dockside and most time completely blocked any type of view.  So having a french balcony was useless.  Maybe only one day did we have the opportunity to open our window, however, unlike the Stella and Prima, the Dolce window only slides half way.   Basically its not at all the same as the new Ama ships.     Disappointment all around with our cabin choice.  Wish we had chosen a lower cabin and saved a couple of thousand dollars. The size was small, but just good for us. We didn't spend much time in the cabin. Accommodations were sufficient and service was excellent.

Room: We were in Room 315. This was an upgrade room and it had full French balcony Windows. The room was a bit cramped but it was very nice and very functional. This being our first cruise we did not know what to expect. But it was a nice room. The bathroom was very nice and the shower had three shower massage heads. It was larger than we had expected for a stateroom. The bed was comfortable and there was enough closet space for all the clothes. One issue was that all the drawers and closet doors had hinges that slammed. You could all the other staterooms because of this and I am sure they could hear us. If they had those automatic closing hinges for their drawers and closets it would make it so much quieter for the passengers at night. If we were to do this same cruise again, we would pick a room on the port side vice starboard side. Because 90% of the cruise was actually tied up in a port, and the ship ties up on the starboard side, our views ended up to be mostly of piers, which blocked the scenery. We did have an occasion where we had a view of the town, but depending on the tide and location, this was not the norm. Read Less

The cabins are small but well appointed and with a French balcony we could open the door and watch the scenery go by.

The cabin at 175 sq ft is big enough for a couple as you are never really in the room. It does have two nice chairs for viewing out the big side doors, but you really want to sit in the main room to get better panoramic viewing. The room is equipped with a TV/Computer combination that is attached to the internet. Free Wi-Fi is in all the rooms. They never make public announcements over the PA in the room so you are free to nap. The bathroom is fine, the shower is great with all the attachments you could ever want. Read Less
